Pope Francis instructs Vatican entities to move all funds to Vatican bank by Sept. 30
|
|
Pope Francis has ordered that the Holy See and connected entities move all financial assets to the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR), commonly known as the Vatican bank.
The pope’s rescript, issued Aug. 23, clarifies the interpretation of a paragraph in the new constitution of the Roman Curia, Praedicate Evangelium, promulgated in March.
According to Francis’ rescript, financial and liquid assets held in banks other than the IOR must be moved to the Vatican bank within 30 days of Sept. 1, 2022.
The IOR, based in Vatican City State, has 110 employees and 14,519 clients. As of 2021, it looked after 5.2 billion euros ($5.6 billion) of client assets. (Catholic News Agency.com) Read more here.

- Father, You know the inner workings and the wider implications of these large financial transfers. We ask You to make known what should be known about these changes, and use this time of transition to adjust things closer to Your purposes in the days. Raise up vigilance among Your people and leaders in the Church to any dangers with Revelation 13 implications, and may Your people have nothing to do with moving anyone any closer to that kind of evil.

Iran steps up defenses against foreign attacks, senior defense official says
|
|
Iran has deployed civil defense systems to dozens of cities and towns to foil a potential attack, a senior Iranian official said Saturday, amid rising tensions with Israel and the United States.
The defense equipment, in 51 locales, will enable Iran’s armed forces to “identify and monitor threats by using round-the-clock software according to the type of the threat and risk,” deputy defense minister Mehdi Farahi was quoted as saying by Iranian media, according to Reuters.
“These days, depending on the strength of countries, the form of battles has become more complicated,” Farahi said.

- O Holy One! King of all kings and Lord of all Lords! We bring this threat against Your people, Israel, before Your Throne of Grace, and we thank You that You are her
defense and her shield. May her enemies round about her be humbled and defeated by Your mighty Hand, as You enter in to bring her Your divine protection. In Jesus' name, amen and amen!
- [Prayer offered today by Intercessors for Israel]:
As Iran's demonic wrath spits at Israel daily, we bless You for this challenging word to Israel in the prophetic portion: I, even I, am He that comforts you: who are you that you should be afraid of a man who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made as grass, and forget YHWH your Maker, who stretched out the heavens, and laid the earth's foundation; (Isa. 51:12-13)

A Turkish warship anchored Saturday at an Israeli port for the first time in over a decade, after the recent reestablishment of ties between Jerusalem and Ankara.
The TCG Kemalreis, a Barbaros-class frigate, docked in Haifa along with the USS Forrest Sherman, an American guided missile destroyer, as part of a NATO drill. Video showed the TCG Kemalreis being escorted into port.
The ships are expected to remain in Israel for several days.
“The docking is part of Israel’s cooperation with and support of NATO,” a statement from the Israel Defense Forces said. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

4. Perpetrators arrested after Jordan Valley shooting attack leaves several injured - Israel Hayom
An Israeli bus came under fire on Sunday in the Jordan valley, with initial reports saying there were several injured in what appears to be terrorism. The bus, which belonged to the Jordan Valley Regional Council, was hit not far from the town of Bkaot. Two perpetrators were captured about 20 minutes later.
According to initial reports, the shooting was accompanied by the lobbing of at least one Molotov cocktail that also hit the bus. Army Radio said at least two injured were treated for moderate gunshot wounds but were still conscious, with other Israeli outlets saying the remaining two suffered minor wounds from glass shards. The IDF said in a statement that it was checking the reports while a large number of first responders headed in the direction of the incident. The attack was in the form of a stand-by shooting from a passing vehicle, with the perpetrators fleeing the scene before being captured.
If this is confirmed as a terrorist attack it would be the second in less than 48 hours, after a stabbing attack in Judea and Samaria on Friday that left one IDF soldier injured. The perpetrator in that incident was shot and killed by a fellow soldier, whose actions may have averted a much more deadly incident. In March after a spate of attacks that left more than 10 Israelis dead, Israel launched Operation Breakwater in Palestinian cities. (Read more)

5. Influential Islamist preacher of Jew-hatred on the run after France issues arrest warrant - World Israel News
Authorities in France are on the hunt for Hassan Iquioussen, a Moroccan imam who preaches vile Jew-hatred and has tens of thousands of followers through Youtube and Facebook, according to several news agencies and sites.
Iquioussen, 58, has apparently escaped after a French judge in the country’s highest administrative court issued a deportation order last week. Police suspect the imam, who was born in France and holds Moroccan citizenship, has fled to Belgium.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin had requested the order due to Iquioussen’s “especially virulent anti-Semitic speech” and sermons calling for women’s “submission” to men, the Jewish Chronicle noted.
According to the JC, judges initially blocked the expulsion in agreement with the imam’s lawyers, who argued that it would result in “disproportionate harm” to his “private and family life.” But the Council of State overturned the decision due to his incitement to hatred and violence. (Read more)

1. California on Cusp of Censoring Doctors on COVID-19 - Daily Signal
A branch of COVID-19 fundamentalists has managed to get an extremist bill through the California Legislature that would put doctors’ free speech at risk.
The legislation would require the state’s Osteopathic Medical Board to “take action” against doctors deemed to have “disseminate[d] misinformation or disinformation related to COVID-19, including false or misleading information regarding the nature and risks of the virus, its prevention and treatment; and the development, safety, and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.”
The bill defines “misinformation” as that which is “contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care.”
The legislation, which needs to be signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, to become law, is alarming because of the severe adverse effects it will have on doctors’ ability to care for patients. It is also patently unconstitutional. (Read more)

2. New Alliance Defending Freedom head identifies 3 big threats to religious liberty in America - Christian Post
The Alliance Defending Freedom, a prominent law firm that has successfully argued religious liberty cases before the United States Supreme Court, announced that it will have a new president and CEO. ADF announced that Kristen Waggoner, general counsel who has been with the organization since 2013, will become head of the firm effective Oct. 1.
The current head of ADF, Michael Farris, said in a statement that he approved of the board of directors’ unanimous decision to appoint Waggoner as his successor. “God has truly blessed my time here through unprecedented growth. One of these blessings has been working with Kristen,” Farris stated.
“When it became clear to me that Kristen was a well-suited successor and ready to lead, I urged the board to consider her. I am confident God will help Kristen and our team continue expanding our capacity to serve, and I look forward to assisting her and ADF along the way.”
{When interviwed by CP asking Waggoner to define the biggest threats to religious liberty in the United States today, here were her answers):
Waggoner: Three come to mind immediately, the three that I would say we're most involved in, at this moment.
The first is the threat by government officials to essentially ignore biology and to redefine what it means to be a man and a woman or to simply remove the distinctions. . .
A second area that is similar is the right to speak freely. As I've mentioned, every American should have that right to speak freely. We litigate more cases than any other organization involving student life on campuses, but we're also litigating cases involving artists. And one of those is going to the Supreme Court this fall that I'll argue, which is 303 Creative.
A third area I would mention is parental rights. . . We're seeing government officials more and more try to replace the role of parents and the right to be able to direct the upbringing of your children, to teach them and to raise them consistent with your beliefs, is being threatened, and we intend to protect the rights of all parents to be able to raise their families consistent with their beliefs. 3. US schools see historic drop in reading, math scores after pandemic closures - Christian Post
A new assessment purports that reading and math scores for 9-year-old students saw historic declines during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that reportedly negatively impacted student behavior and performance due to remote learning arrangements. The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also referred to as The Nation’s Report Card, released a report this week on a reading and mathematics assessment administered to 9-year-old students nationwide. The scales used in the evaluation ranged from zero to 500.
NAEP, a congressionally mandated program overseen by the U.S. Department of Education, administered the assessments from January to March 2020 and 2022, respectively. The group tested about 7,400 9-year-old students from 410 schools in 2022, and 92% of the schools assessed this year were also tested in 2020. “Average scores for age 9 students in 2022 declined 5 points in reading and 7 points in mathematics compared to 2020,” the report stated. “This is the largest average score decline in reading since 1990, and the first ever score decline in mathematics.”
Peggy Carr, the commissioner of the U.S. Education Department's National Center for Education Statistics, expressed concerns about the findings in a Wednesday statement announcing its upcoming release. “There’s been much speculation about how shuttered schools and interrupted learning may have affected students’ opportunities to learn,” Carr wrote.
“Our own data reveal the pandemic’s toll on education in other ways, including increases in students seeking mental health services, absenteeism, school violence and disruption, cyberbullying, and nationwide teacher and staff shortages.” (Read more)

4. School to Pay Christian Teacher $95,000 to Settle Lawsuit over Transgender Pronoun Policy- Christian Headlines
A Kansas school has agreed to pay a middle school teacher $95,000 in damages and attorneys’ fees for violating her First Amendment rights when it suspended her for using a transgender-identifying student’s legal name instead of the student’s preferred name.
Pamela Ricard, who taught math at Fort Riley Middle School, claimed in her lawsuit that the student in question had never asked her to use a name or pronoun different from the student’s legal records.
In May, a federal judge sided with Ricard in her lawsuit and said she was likely to succeed in her claim against a specific school policy that prevents teachers from disclosing a student’s transgender name and pronouns to parents unless the student approves it. The judge said the policy likely violates her religious liberty rights under the First Amendment.
Ricard, who is Christian, said in her lawsuit she believes the Bible “prohibits dishonesty and lying” and that parents have a “fundamental right to control the upbringing and education of their children.”
“[Ricard] believes that addressing students one way at school and a different way when speaking to their parents is dishonest,” the court’s May decision said. “Being dishonest violates her sincere religious beliefs.” (Read more)

5. CA Passes Trans Sanctuary Bill to Defy Parents with Gender Transitions on Kids - Critics Call It State-Approved 'Kidnapping'- CBN
The California state Senate passed a bill Wednesday making it a sanctuary state for children seeking transgender medical treatment – even without their parents' permission.
The bill allows California courts to take "temporary emergency jurisdiction" over out-of-state minors if they are seeking transgender drugs, surgery, or mental healthcare.
The bill would make California a legal destination for kids who want to make their sex changes permanent and according to the California Family Council (CFC) would become a gateway for children to receive hormones, puberty blockers, and irreversible gender surgery.
"This is a gut-and-amend bill that basically declares 'open season' to kids across the country when it comes to transgenderism," said Jonathan Keller, president of the California Family Council, a conservative group. "This is the mutilation and amputation of children's bodies. This is really what is at stake here."
"Gut-and-amend" means SB 107 started in the Senate as a completely different bill but was changed before it got to the Assembly floor.
As CBN News reported, SB 107 was introduced by state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-District 11) to fight against what he called "brutal attacks on transgender children" in states that have moved to protect minors from being sterilized by puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex-change surgeries.
Some states are labeling these irreversible treatments as child abuse when they're performed on children who are too young to fully comprehend what they're doing. (Read more)

6. Lifesite Petition: Tell Republican senators to oppose Democrats’ radical same-sex ‘marriage’ bill - LifeSite News
With the Senate on the verge of passing Democrats’ radical Respect for Marriage Act and codifying homosexual “marriage,” LifeSite has launched a new petition urging Republican senators to oppose the bill and protect “natural marriage and the constitutional freedom of individual states.”
The so-called Respect for Marriage Act (RFMA) would enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law, override duly-enacted laws and constitutional amendments in 35 states, require the federal government to recognize polygamous marriages or any other redefinitions of marriage if a state approves them, and open the door to drastic attacks on religious freedom.
Leftist members of Congress have, once again, opted to ignore the myriad of issues facing our country — be it the border crisis, gas prices, inflation, crime, and more — to instead virtue-signal by introducing their radical new bill, the so-called "Respect for Marriage Act," which, among other things, would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.
And with the radical left continuing its attempts to redefine words, people, and events to better suit their agenda and advance their political narratives, it should come as no surprise that their latest target happens to be natural marriage.
But marriage is not a political tool for the left to manipulate and destroy; it is the key building block of our society, and the primary basis for the safe, responsible upbringing of our children. (To read more and to sign this petition, go here.)

- Lord, help us defend marriage according to Your word. May the Republican senators stand strong against this bill.

7. Pentagon aims to speed arms sales to allies to better compete with China - report - Jerusalem Post
The Pentagon has launched a comprehensive push to accelerate sales of US arms to foreign allies, to better compete with China and replenish arsenals of friendly nations that have given military gear to Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The Pentagon last month created a task force to examine longstanding inefficiencies in US sales of billions of dollars of weaponry to foreign countries, according to the newspaper.
The "tiger team" will look at ways for the Defense Department to streamline parts of the program, the WSJ said, citing a senior defense official.
The aim of the task force is to make coveted American drones, guns, helicopters, tanks and other weaponry available to partners and allies faster, according to WSJ.

9. US says Iranian response to nuclear deal proposal ‘not constructive’ - Times of Israel
WASHINGTON — The United States said Thursday it had received a new response from Iran on reviving a nuclear deal but that it was not “constructive.”
The response was the latest in a back and forth between the adversaries via mediators from the European Union, whose foreign policy chief Josep Borrell on Wednesday had hoped for a resolution within days to revive the 2015 nuclear accord.
The European Union put forward on August 8 what it called a final text. Iran proposed changes to it — largely accepted by the Europeans — to which the United States issued a response through the mediators.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said early Friday Iran time that Tehran sent another reply in response to the US position, according to state news agency IRNA. He called the Iranian proposal “constructive” and expressed hopes that a deal would be finalized.
Washington did not share Kanaani’s enthusiasm for the proffer.
“We can confirm that we have received Iran’s response through the EU,” State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said late Thursday in Washington. (Read more)

10. Iranian Navy seized 2 US Navy maritime drones on Thursday - CNN
The Iranian Navy seized two US Navy maritime drones in international waters in the Red Sea on Thursday.
The drones were eventually released, but a US defense official says the incident looks like an escalation of Iranian hostile actions against the United States.
Earlier this week, a similar incident occurred in the Persian Gulf. "The fact that this happened two days after their unsuccessful attempt in the Arabian (Persian) Gulf looks to be an escalation," the official said
The incident began Thursday, the official said, when the Iranian Navy ship was observed taking two US drones out of the water "in an attempt to steal them," according to the official. The US then quickly moved in with two nearby destroyers, the USS Nitze and USS Delbert D. Black, as well as two helicopters and communicated by radio to demand the drones be returned.
The Iranians agreed but asked to wait until daylight on Friday for safety reasons which the US agreed to, the official said.
The unmanned maritime vessels, known as Saildrone Explorers, had been operating in international waters in the southern Red Sea, four miles away from the nearest maritime traffic lane, according to US Central Command. The unarmed drones had been operating in the area for more than 200 days without incident, Central Command said, and they were taking unclassified photos of the environment. (Read more)

Jackson, Mississippi gives residents "positive" news as water pressure returns
|
|
|
Jackson, Mississippi residents are still facing a water crisis nearly a week after flooding in the Pearl River damaged the city's water system, though water pressure has been restored to most of the city, the city said in a news release Sunday.
Why it matters: The crisis has upended life for the city of nearly 150,000 people, with schools shifting to remote learning and businesses being forced to shutter or install expensive fixes like portable toilets. People have had to wait in long lines for potable water.
The plant's output of 90 pounds per square inch is higher than the city’s goal of 87 PSI, but the "outlook continues to be positive" at the O.B. Curtis Water Plant, where the failure happened, the city said in the update. Additional repairs could cause fluctuations in the water pressure, per the city.
- “Multiple tanks are approaching full,” the release says. “We no longer have any tanks at low levels. All of Jackson should now have pressure and most are now experiencing normal pressure.”
- The city continues to be under a boil notice, which was put into place back in July.
- In Sunday's press release, the city said it hopes to take water samples midweek, and it will need two clear samples before the boil water notice can be lifted.
Driving the news: It's too early to tell when the failed water system, which has left thousands of people without clean tap water, will be fixed, FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell told CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday.
- Criswell said during a visit to Jackson Friday that the water was going to return "in phases."
- "The focus right now is making sure we can get bottled water out, but also we are providing temporary measures to help increase the water pressure, so that people can at least flush their toilets and use their faucets," Criswell said.
Catch up quick: Jackson has been under a boil-water notice since July 30, after tests showed water quality was "cloudy," raising concerns about potential health concerns.
- Flooding from the Pearl River caused the already-damaged main water treatment plant to fail, resulting in some faucets without water and, in other cases, brown water, CNN reports.
- The governor announced a state of emergency on Tuesday and activated the National Guard to assist the city.
- President Biden on Tuesday approved a federal emergency disaster declaration to assist with the outages.

Continued Prayer for the Solomon Islands
|
|
|
(Submitted by Julie Vida)
Family of God let us come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need for the families and leaders of the Solomon Islands, and the Indo – Pacific rim.
Heavenly Father, thank You for receiving us as we declare that You are omnipotent and omnipresent, that You are absolutely good and are continually focused for the good of all mankind.
We have great concern over the photo of the shaking hands between Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of the Solomon Islands and Chinese President Xi over a proposed Security agreement which could possibly put the future of the Indo – Pacific areas in harm's way.
This is of great concern to many who are not willing to go along with this proposed agreement.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that Your word from Isaiah 41:13 declares…” that’s right. because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.” (MSG)
We thank You, Father, that this handshake is not in the best interests of the leaders and peoples situated in the Indo – Pacific arena, and we declare it broken in Jesus' name… it is canceled and will not have further impact.
We say as in Heaven so on earth and we replace these fallen words of agreement with your will and purpose as stated in Jeremiah 29:11:
“I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” (MSG)
Heavenly Father, we thank you in advance for the righteous outcome of this event to your glory and honor now and always…..
And all God’s people said "amen and amen!"

Typhoon Hinnamnor:
First Category 5 Cyclone on Earth in 2022
|
|
|
Cities in eastern China suspended ferry services and classes and flights were cancelled in Japan on Sunday as Typhoon Hinnamnor, the strongest global storm this year, blew its way past Taiwan and the Koreas with fierce winds and heavy rains.
Shanghai grounded ferry services and deployed more than 50,000 police officers to aid with rescues and guide traffic away from danger areas. The eastern business hub of Wenzhou ordered all classes suspended on Monday.
Hinnamnor is forecast to move gradually northward into the East China Sea with maximum sustained winds of 175km (109 miles) per hour, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
Evacuations and flight cancellations have been ordered in Japan’s southern Okinawa Island. The typhoon is also expected to bring intense rainfall to the Korean peninsula, bringing the possibility of flooding.
China’s National Meteorological Center issued a yellow typhoon warning at 10am (02:00 GMT) on Sunday, and warned of heavy rains in northeastern Zhejiang, Shanghai and Taiwan.
Ships were told to return to port to take shelter from the wind, and the centre also urged people against large gatherings both indoors and outdoors. (Read more here.)

We ask that You cause this typhoon to abate, and to hover over all in its path with protection. Thank You, O Lord, for hearing our prayer, in Your mighty name, amen and amen.

KY Christian Photographer 'Excited to Move Forward' as Court Rules She Can't Be Forced to Work Same-Sex Weddings
|
|
A U.S. District Court sided with a Christian photographer and blogger Tuesday in her legal battle against a Louisville, Kentucky ordinance that would have required her to photograph same-sex weddings in violation of her First Amendment rights. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys representing Chelsey Nelson challenged the so-called Fairness Ordinance that required her to create photographs and blogs promoting same-sex wedding ceremonies. As the district court recognized, the case Chelsey Nelson Photography v. Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government is similar to the one now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court—303 Creative v. Elenis—involving Colorado graphic artist and website designer Lorie Smith.
As CBN News has previously reported, Nelson filed suit against the City of Louisville in November 2019 challenging the ordinance that threatened her with damages, attorneys fees, compliance reports, and court orders to force her to participate in and create photographs and blogs praising same-sex wedding ceremonies. In 2020, U.S. District Judge Justin R. Walker issued an order allowing Nelson to turn down services for same-sex weddings without being penalized. Walker wrote that Louisville cannot enforce the Fairness Ordinance on Nelson without unconstitutionally "abridging her freedom of speech." (CBN) (Read more)

NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!
(A personal testimony)

Dear Friends,
NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!
Both I and my husband have just come through a serious fight with COVID, but HALLELUJAH, we have WON THE VICTORY!
We have always refused to take the vaccines. Instead, we have been standing on the promise of the Word that " . . . if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them . . ." (Mark 16:18)
Moreover, my husband is a 77-year-old diabetic who has now beat ALL THE ODDS of
surviving this wicked, man-made disease!
For those few of you who have been aware of our recent season of suffering: THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS.
And a HUGE thank you, too, for our beloved staff of the Daily Brief who each have continued their work so that all 6,000 of you can join forces to pray for God's will to be done in our nation, and in Israel.
So, to GOD be the GLORY, and to YOU be our thanks!
God bless you all!

P.S. A very special "thank you," too, goes to my neighbor Yvette, who brought over some beautiful flowers when I became ill. Their cheery appearance really brought me hope and encouragement as I struggled through this battle. Thank you, Yvette!

When They Ring Those Golden Bells
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words and Music: Daniel De Marbelle
Scripture: The Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces. Isaiah 25:8
Lyrics:
There’s a land beyond the river,
That we call the sweet forever,
And we only reach that shore by faith’s decree;
One by one we’ll gain the portals,
There to dwell with the immortals,
When they ring the golden bells for you and me.
Refrain
Don’t you hear the bells now ringing?
Don’t you hear the angels singing?
’Tis the glory hallelujah Jubilee.
In that far off sweet forever,
Just beyond the shining river,
When they ring the golden bells for you and me.
We shall know no sin or sorrow,
In that haven of tomorrow,
When our barque shall sail beyond the silver sea;
We shall only know the blessing
Of our Father’s sweet caressing,
When they ring the golden bells for you and me.
Refrain
When our days shall know their number,
And in death we sweetly slumber,
When the King commands the spirit to be free;
Nevermore with anguish laden,
We shall reach that lovely Eden,
When they ring the golden bells for you and me.
Refrain
