Trump Briefed on Specific Iran Threats to Assassinate Him: Campaign
|
|
Former President Donald Trump, who has already survived two assassination attempts, has received a briefing on “real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him,” his campaign said in a Sept. 24 news release.
The office of the Director of National Intelligence briefed the former president about “ongoing threats from the Iran terror regime,” his campaign said.
“Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months,” the release continued, adding that law-enforcement officials “across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference.”
The revelations come in the thick of the presidential election campaign. The former president and current Republican presidential nominee is scheduled for six campaign events this week. Trump’s campaign says that the alleged Iranian plot is intended to “destabilize” the United States and “sow chaos.”
Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign’s communications director, said Iranians are “terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump.” “He will let nothing stop him or get in his way to fight for the American people and to Make America Great Again,” Cheung said in the release.
The former president said on X on Wednesday that Iran has already tried and failed to carry out an attack. “The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again,” Trump said. The former president said he now is encircled by “more men, guns, and weapons” than he had ever seen before.
He thanked congress members from both political parties for unanimously approving more funding for Secret Service protection. “Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Congress Unanimously Passes Bill to Increase Secret Service Protection For Presidential Candidates
|
|
The Senate has unanimously passed a bill to increase the level of U.S. Secret Service protection for presidential and vice presidential candidates. After passing the House of Representatives on Sept. 20, the Enhanced Presidential Security Act passed the Senate on Tuesday and will proceed to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.
The Secret Service’s protocols and funding have received significant scrutiny following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was injured by a bullet grazing his ear.
After a second assassination attempt was foiled in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sept. 15, the House unanimously passed the bill, sponsored by Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), which would apply the same standards for determining the number of Secret Service personnel to major presidential candidates as those used for the protection of the President of the United States, who is the agency’s principal protectee.
“It is in the direct national security interest of the United States of America to provide the best protection in its power of its presidents and presidential candidates. History has shown that assassinations can massively disrupt our nation’s political system, cause dangerous disorder and chaos, and embolden further violence. The two recent attempts on former President Trump’s life showed the world that unfortunately, the Secret Service has serious gaps in protection, and more must be done to ensure no one can take advantage of those vulnerabilities,” Lawler and Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) said in a joint statement about the bill after its passage by the House.
“Today, I am proud to have the full support of the Senate to pass the Enhanced Presidential Security Act, which mandates that the [U.S. Secret Service] provide the same level of protective services to presidential and vice presidential nominees that it affords to sitting presidents and vice presidents,” said Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who shepherded the bill through the Senate, in a statement after its passage Tuesday.
The bill does not authorize any new funding for the Secret Service. However, a three-month stopgap spending package to fund the government after funding expires on Sept. 30 will, if passed this week, give the agency $231 million for protective operations. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Biden Warns of AI’s ‘Profound Risks’ in UN General Assembly Speech

|
President Joe Biden on Tuesday warned world leaders of the profound dangers stemming from the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
Biden delivered a keynote address on Sep. 24 to the U.N. General Assembly in New York City, where he said that governments held “a responsibility to prepare our citizens for the future.”
“We’ll see more technological change, I argue, in the next two to 10 years [than] we have in the last 50 years,” Biden said.
“Artificial intelligence is going to change our ways of life, our ways of work, and our ways of war,” he added.
Biden’s warning comes at a time of heightened international tension, with wars raging in eastern Europe and the Middle East and threatening to erupt in the Indo-Pacific.

Florida Governor Declares Emergency Over
Potential Hurricane

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued its first advisories for a storm system that is likely to strengthen into a hurricane before it hits the Gulf Coast later this week, as Florida’s governor declared an emergency on Sept. 23.
“We are tracking Potential Tropical Cyclone #9, which is likely to strengthen this week as the system enters the Gulf of Mexico,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a post on social media platform X. “We will continue to monitor the storm’s path and keep Floridians updated.”
The governor issued an executive order on Sept. 23 that declared a state of emergency for 41 counties across the state that will be affected by the system.
Hurricane and storm surge advisories have been issued for portions of the Florida Gulf Coast, said the NHC on Sept. 24.
It’s not clear precisely where the storm will hit, the NHC said, but residents in the Florida Panhandle and the state’s western coast should monitor updates. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

1. IDF chief: Military preparing for possible ground op in Lebanon - JNS
Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi announced on Wednesday that the military was preparing a possible ground operation in Lebanon to remove the threat posed by Iranian-backed Hezbollah.
“You can hear the planes above us, we are attacking all day. Both to prepare the area for the possibility of your entry [into Lebanon], and also to continue harming Hezbollah,” Halevi told troops during a drill.
“Hezbollah today expanded its [range] of fire. Later today, it will receive a very strong response,” the military leader vowed, referring to the terror group’s launch of a surface-to-surface ballistic missile towards Tel Aviv. (Read more)

2. IDF to remobilize two reserve brigades for operations in the North - Jerusalem Post
Following a situation assessment, the IDF announced on Wednesday that it is remobilizing two reserve brigades for operations in the North.
Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi, during the exercises in the North, said, "We are not stopping. The Air Force is striking all day, and we are preparing for an operation."
The IDF said that recruiting additional reserve brigades would allow the fight against Hezbollah to continue.
The IDF also said that the operations would create conditions for the safe return of the north's residents to their homes in accordance with the newly adopted war goal. (Read more)

3. IDF intercepts Hezbollah missile launched at Tel Aviv - i24 News
Hezbollah launched a surface-to-surface missile at Tel Aviv on Wednesday, triggering sirens at 6:30 am for the first time since January.
The IDF said that a single projectile had been intercepted, and that no changes have been made as of yet to the Home Front Command guidelines – school will be held as usual.
Magen David Adom emergency medical services said that no reports had come of injuries.
After the attack, the IDF's Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, told residents of Lebanon who fled their homes amid Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah not to return yet for their own safety. (Read more)

4. Netanyahu vows no rest until northern residents return amid US ceasefire efforts - Jerusalem Post
Israel won’t rest until the residents in the north can return safely to their homes, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday amid reports that the US was close to securing a ceasefire to the year-long constrained IDF-Hezbollah war.
"I cannot detail everything we are doing,” Netanyahu said in a statement to the Israeli public, “but I can tell you one thing: we are determined to return residents from the North safely to their homes.
“We are inflicting blows on Hezbollah it did not imagine. We do it with strength; we do it with guile. I promise you one thing - we will not rest until they come home,” he said. (Read more)

5. Israel’s National Security Council Issues Travel Warning Ahead of Jewish High Holidays Amid Terror Threats - Algemeiner
Israel’s National Security Council on Wednesday issued a travel warning to Israelis and Jews planning to travel for the Jewish Holiday Holidays next week, urging them to be vigilant amid a historic surge in antisemitism and mounting threats from terrorist groups.
“Ahead of the High Holidays, during which hundreds of thousands of Israelis are expected to travel abroad, we would like to increase public awareness to the various terrorist threats abroad and suggest that those traveling follow the recommendations published on the website of the National Security Council (NSC),” the government body said in a message posted to its website.
The NSC emphasized the “dangers” of sharing or posting on social media any information that could identify one as being a member of or active in Israel’s security forces. (Read more)

1. Media Claims A Georgia Woman Died Due To Laws Banning Abortion. Here’s The Truth - The Daily Wire
Over the past few days, media outlets, including The New York Times, Newsweek, and MSNBC, have all cited a claim that a woman died because of strict pro-life laws. Amber Thurman, these outlets reported, citing an article from ProPublica, would have survived if not for Georgia’s laws on abortion. The truth, however, has nothing to do with Georgia’s abortion laws and everything to do with taking dangerous abortion pills without any follow-up care.
Thurman made the tragic decision to end the lives of her unborn twins by legally obtaining abortion pills in North Carolina. She took the pills and returned home to Georgia, where, five days after taking the pills, she faced a serious complication. ProPublica doesn’t say whether she received any follow-up care from the place that provided her the pills in North Carolina or whether they ever called to check up on her after handing her the pills.
When she went to a hospital in her home state of Georgia, it took doctors several days to perform a D&C, or dilation and curettage, the medical procedure to remove the remains from her uterus. There is no evidence at all that Georgia’s abortion laws played any role in the delay of this care, as ProPublica admits in paragraph 57. (Read more)

2. Evangelical leaders huddle in DC to discuss how to best stand with the Jewish state - The Christian Post
Nearly 100 Evangelical leaders have decided to launch a new organization called the Conference of Presidents of Christian Organizations in Support of Israel. Among them are:
- Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council
- former Rep. Michele Bachmann, who serves as the Dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University
- Luke Moon, the new executive director of The Philos Project; and
- Pastor Mario Bramnick, president of the Latino Coalition for Israel.
Together, these four helped organize the strategy meetings on September 17 and 18.
They want the group to serve as an umbrella organization for dozens of like-minded groups to come together and magnify their influence by working more closely together.
Every Evangelical leader who attended the two days of strategy meetings agreed that a far more focused and unified effort to support Israel must be made. But not everyone was convinced that the “Conference” of Jewish presidents was the right model. (Read more)

3. Kentucky Gov. Bans ‘Conversion Therapy’ in Attempt ‘to Silence the Expression’ of Different Views, Expert Says - The Washington Stand
In Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear (D) decided it’s okay for children to undergo gender transition procedures but that it’s not okay to allow a way for kids to talk it out first.
“Conversion therapy,” as the Daily Caller wrote, “has historically referred to clinical attempts to stop patients from experiencing same-sex attraction.” However, far-left activists and organizations have characterized the practice as “dangerous and discredited,” claiming it causes “depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicidality.” Beshear, keeping in step with the latter definition, banned "conversion therapy” for minors in an executive order issued on Wednesday.
In a press release, Beshear added, “Conversion therapy has no basis in medicine or science,” and that the executive order “is about protecting our youth from an inhumane practice that hurts” children. But as some experts have pointed out, Beshear’s executive order closes the door to necessary conversations. (Read more)

4. Dem-majority FCC helping George Soros fast-track takeover of nationwide radio network - New York Post
Left-leaning billionaire George Soros is trying to recruit the Democrat-controlled Federal Communications Commission to help fast track his takeover of the nation’s second-biggest radio network. Soros, 93, pumped $400 million into Audacy in February, a network which reaches 165 million monthly listeners and includes a handful of conservative shows from hosts including Sean Hannity, Dana Loesch, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck and Erick Erickson.
But their influence is likely to be muted if the billionaire takes over and imposes his agenda, as has happened with other media acquisitions. A source with knowledge of the deal told The Post: “The idea that George Soros is buying hundreds of local radio stations right before a national election and will keep broadcasting Sean Hannity and other conservative talk radio hosts on Audacy is not credible.”
However, to take control Soros Fund Management needs help from the FCC as the money funneled into buying the bankrupt network comes from abroad. (Read more)

5. Gov. Gavin Newsom Signs 24 Gun Controls in California - Breitbart
California is already No. 1 for gun control among states in the Union, according to Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety, yet Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed 24 new gun controls on Tuesday.
Prior to Tuesday, California already had an “assault weapons” ban, a “high-capacity” magazine ban, universal background checks, a ten-day waiting period on gun purchases, gun registration requirements, a limit on the number of guns a law-abiding citizen can buy each month, a ban on campus carry for self-defense, a ban on K-12 teachers being armed for classroom defense, background checks on ammunition purchases, and more.

6. Fox News Power Rankings: Harris ticks up and Senate Republicans take charge - Fox News
Republicans are set to flip the Senate for the first time this cycle in this week’s Fox News Power Rankings. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris enjoys a small post-debate bump, three new toss-up races emerge in the House, and the GOP loses ground on the governor map.
Two weeks after their first debate, Harris is up a point and former President Trump is down the same in an average of high-quality polls. If those numbers sound familiar, it is because they match the shifts after the first debate between President Biden and Trump four years ago.
Republicans have enjoyed a head start in the Senate from the beginning of this cycle. Their star candidate in Montana is doing more than anyone to get them to the finish line. The latest forecast predicts Republicans will take at least 51 seats on election night, while Democrats are expected to take at least 47. That leaves two races in the Toss Up category. (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: The Cat Lady

We were walking down the street in Cape Charles, Va last week and passed by the local Democratic Party headquarters. There was a huge display promoting Kamala Harris as the Cat Lady. Of course, it was a take-off of the recent debate between Harris and Donald Trump, where Trump claimed that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio were eating people’s pets—cats and dogs. He was immediately corrected by the “impartial” debate moderator, and the topic has moved front and center of the entire race for the presidency as if it were more important than toilet paper during COVID lockdowns. Kamala is now the heroic Cat Lady. I thoroughly researched the Springfield situation and my findings may surprise you.
While Donald Trump often speaks in hyperbole to make his points, he rarely speaks without knowing the truth behind what he is saying. The news media and his opponents smugly “correct” him with their own version of the “facts,” but they are speaking to their own agenda. The media and his critics make Trump out to be some crazy extremists just lying to the public about the outrageous things he brings to the forefront. And while people have to suspend their disbelief to get their minds around what Trump is saying, it usually reflects some basic common sense that is far too often overlooked by the media and the very smart people who hate Trump. Sometimes it would be better for Trump if he communicated his claims differently, but he says what he says and that is what the media and his opponents twist into stupid narratives. Read More

Iran Accuses Israel of ‘State Terrorism,’ Blasts Trump for Pulling Out of Nuclear Deal at U.N.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian used his address to the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday to attack Israel on behalf of Iran’s terrorist clients in Hamas – an unsurprising, but perhaps slightly disappointing, tirade from an Iranian second-in-command who billed himself as a more compassionate, reformist leader.
Pezeshkian spent a few minutes touting his platform of “reform, national empathy, constructive engagement with the world, and economic development,” and promoting Shia Islam as a religion of “peace, justice, and universal tolerance,” but then began reciting Hamas propaganda about Israel’s supposedly murderous campaign in Gaza.
Pezeshkian railed against the Israelis for referring to their campaign of “genocide, the killing of children, war crimes, and state terrorism” as “legitimate self-defense.”
“They label hospitals, kindergartens, and schools as ‘legitimate military targets.’ They label the freedom-loving and brave people around the world who protest against their genocide as ‘anti-Semitic.’ They label an oppressed people, who have stood up against seven decades of occupation and humiliation, as ‘terrorists,’” he thundered.
Iran is the world’s top state sponsor of terrorism by a wide margin but, in Pezeshkian’s twisted worldview, his country merely supports “popular liberation movements.”
We have been siding with the people across the world, who have flooded the streets in outrage against Israeli atrocities. We condemn Israeli crimes against humanity,” he said.

The Iranian leader pitched his closing remarks as a direct statement to the American people, implicitly either pleading with them, or threatening them, not to send Trump back to the White House.
“In order to build a better future world, Iran stands prepared to foster meaningful economic, social, political, and security partnerships with global powers and its neighbors based on equal footing,” he claimed.
“The appropriate response to this message from Iran is not to impose more sanctions, but to fulfill existing obligations to remove sanctions, benefiting the Iranian people and hence laying the foundations for more constructive agreements,” he concluded. (Breitbart) Read more here.

A preliminary report on the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Trump from the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs ripped into newly revealed missteps that went into the Secret Service's planning and execution of security at the event during which a spectator was killed, two others were seriously wounded and the GOP candidate was struck on the ear.
Among the key failures, an agent inexperienced with drone equipment called a toll-free tech support hotline for help after a request ahead of time for additional unmanned assets was denied, according to a preliminary summary of findings made public Wednesday. According to the committee, he had just an hour of informal training with the device.
"Multiple foreseeable and preventable planning and operational failures by USSS contributed to [Thomas] Crooks’ ability to carry out the assassination attempt of former President Trump on July 13," the preliminary report read. "These included unclear roles and responsibilities, insufficient coordination with state and local law enforcement, the lack of effective communications, and inoperable C-UAS systems, among many others."

The weight of our mission is not lost on us and in this hyperdynamic threat environment, the U.S. Secret Service cannot fail. The Justice Department (DOJ) has sided with the United Nations in defending in court its relief agency for Palestinians after some workers were found to have likely been involved in the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in Israel.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) fired at least nine of its employees in August after finding that they likely participated in the Hamas slaughter of 1,200 people, including more than 30 Americans.
Victims of the massacre and their families sued UNRWA in a New York federal court, accusing the group and the individuals involved of aiding and abetting Hamas "in the commission of international torts."
The United Nations (U.N.) says the lawsuit should be dismissed, claiming the charter between the U.S. and the U.N. gives the group and its subsidiaries diplomatic immunity. "Since the U.N. has not waived immunity in this instance, its subsidiary, UNRWA, continues to enjoy absolute immunity from prosecution, and the lawsuit should be dismissed," the U.N. stated in response. Pastors, Don’t Let Your Churches Remain Unaware Of What Lies Ahead

If I were to select one word that sums up most people today, it would be “unaware.” Despite the myriad of signs that tell us that the start of the Tribulation period is long overdue, few people are paying attention. Most believers pursue their aspirations with little or no understanding of the times in which they live.
Is this not yet another sign that we live in the last days? I believe it is: “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:38-39, emphasis added).
The words “they were unaware” in the English Standard Version are literally “they did not know” in the original. Because the people in Noah’s day didn’t believe his warnings about God’s impending judgment, it was as if they didn’t know about it until it started raining. Some versions of the Bible translate the words as “they did not understand.”
During the lengthy time required to build the ark, it seems likely that word of such a spectacle would’ve spread to most people living at that time. They saw so many things that were out of the ordinary with the building of a huge ark and the boarding of the animals on it, yet they remained oblivious to the coming flood until it started to rain.
Just like in Noah’s day, most people today are unaware that things in the world will suddenly change in perhaps the near future. For decades, they have heard people like me point to the nearness of Jesus’ appearing. Even though they have heard the warnings, they aren’t knowledgeable of what lies ahead and are thus unaware of what’s coming.

'Whole Families Get Baptized': Tens of Thousands Flock to NC FaithFest, Hundreds Born Again

Tens of thousands of God-seekers in North Carolina attended a Christian festival with the single aim of "lifting up and glorifying Jesus Christ," and hundreds of those attendees ended the weekend making decisions to "surrender their lives" to Him. More than 70 people were immediately baptized. FaithFestNC 2024 kicked off this weekend in Wilkesboro, North Carolina and featured prominent Christian musicians including Rend Collective, We The Kingdom, Jason Crabb, and Matthew West. The seventh annual event is a part of Craig Church Ministries, and according to its website it "uses worship music (in a variety of genres) and the Word of God (via testimonies and the preached Word) to unite believers, save the lost, bring a community together, and spark a revival that will change our area and beyond."
Pastor Craig Church, who is the founder and executive director of the ministry, says the event attracts tens of thousands attendees each year. "I can't even put into words what the Lord has done this weekend," he shared online. "Everybody is celebrating what the Lord has done." Clayton King, pastor and founder of Crossroads, spoke Friday night before a crowd of 30,000 people. "I've never seen so many people so hungry and desperate for God in my life. I think we're in the midst of a spiritual awakening. The world doesn't see it. But I'm witnessing it," he remarked. King told CBN News that FaithFest is a unique Christian music festival because its focus is bringing souls into the Kingdom. "I've preached at dozens of Christian music festivals over the past 37 years, but what sets FaithFest apart is their focus on evangelism. They prioritized the proclamation of the Gospel and as a result, we saw hundreds and hundreds of decisions for Christ," he explained. (CBN) Read More
