2nd Trump Assassination Attempt Raises New Security Questions
|
|
Although the U.S. Secret Service thwarted a gun-toting man’s apparent plan to shoot former President Donald Trump as he golfed on Sept. 15, the incident adds to prior security-lapse concerns, police officers with decades of experience have told The Epoch Times.
Highly publicized security weaknesses, which surfaced after the first assassination attempt against the 45th president on July 13, could embolden “copycats”—especially amid the heated 2024 presidential campaign, Billy Ray Hunter, a former SWAT officer in Alachua County, Florida, said.
“I pray that this is the last one [but] I’m really concerned because I don’t believe it’s over,” he said in a Sept. 17 interview, two days after the second incident. “Enemies have seen the inability to protect him.”
Both Hunter and James Tignanelli, president of the Police Officers Association of Michigan, told The Epoch Times that it’s apparent that agents failed to take some basic steps to secure the golf course and ensure Trump’s safety.
They also discussed concerns about circumstances surrounding the July 13 assassination attempt that killed a spectator and wounded three others, including Trump, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Secret Service’s countersniper team returned fire and killed the suspected gunman.
Tignanelli’s biggest concern about both incidents was the lack of communication and coordination between federal agents and local officers—a problem that he sees “time and time again,” despite it being laid bare during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. That was a major impetus for creating the Department of Homeland Security, he noted, yet it remains an unresolved issue. (Epoch Times) Read more here.

Charges Against Alleged Chinese Military Hacker Unsealed

Wei and co-conspirators allegedly hacked an American company’s network about two days after the company sued a China-based competitor for theft of trade secrets
Charges against Chinese national Jia Wei were unsealed on Sept. 17, alleging unlawful access to U.S. communications company networks to steal proprietary information on behalf of Chinese entities.
Wei, a member of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) People’s Liberation Army (PLA), was assigned to Unit 61786, which is tasked with obtaining communications and information via hacking, according to the Department of Justice.
In March 2017, Wei and co-conspirators allegedly hacked an American company’s network about two days after the company sued a China-based competitor for theft of trade secrets.
According to the indictment, the hackers obtained documents related to the company’s “civilian and military communication devices,” as well as “product development information, testing plans, and internal evaluations.” They also copied documents that discussed the China-based competitor.
In April 2017, the hackers allegedly tried to install malicious software on the company’s network.
The hackers continued to unlawfully access the network through May 2017, according to the indictment. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

|
|
Hundreds of pagers that exploded in Lebanon and Syria in an apparent operation targeting members of Hezbollah bore the brand of a Taiwanese company, though the firm’s chair told reporters Wednesday that another company in Budapest manufactured the devices.
Near-simultaneous detonations of pagers used by members of the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group killed at least 12 people, including two children, and wounded nearly 3,000 on Tuesday.
A senior U.S. official source confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday morning that Israel was behind the exploding pagers. But the mystery of how explosive material was secreted into the devices appeared to stretch across the globe.
Taiwanese pager firm Gold Apollo said in a statement that the firm had licensed its AR-924 brand of pager to BAC Consulting KFT, based in Hungary’s capital, and was not involved in the production.
"According to the cooperation agreement, we authorize BAC to use our brand trademark for product sales in designated regions, but the design and manufacturing of the products are solely the responsibility of BAC," the statement read.
Gold Apollo chair Hsu Ching-kuang told reporters Wednesday that his company has had a licensing agreement with BAC for the past three years, though he provided no evidence of the contract. (Fox News) Read more here.

1. 19 Iranian soldiers killed, 150 injured in pager bombings, Israel remains silent - World Israel News
At least 19 soldiers in Iran’s paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed and roughly 150 more were injured in pager explosions in eastern Syria, according to Arabic media reports Wednesday.
On Tuesday, thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon detonated simultaneously in a mass attack attributed to Israel.
Eleven people were killed and roughly 4,000 injured in the explosions in Lebanon.
According to a report by the Saudi-based Al Hadath outlet on Wednesday, however, the pager bombings also killed 19 members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stationed in the Deir Ez-Zur province of eastern Syria. (Read more)

2. More Hezbollah Communications Devices Detonate Across Lebanon as Terror Group Thrown Into Disarray - Algemeiner
More communications devices used by the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah exploded on Wednesday afternoon across the group’s main stronghold in Beirut and in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s health ministry said at least nine people were killed and 300 were wounded in the latest series of device explosions as Hezbollah, which wields significant political and military influence across Lebanon, was thrown into disarray for the second day in a row.
The attack began on Tuesday, when thousands of Hezbollah members were seriously wounded when the pagers they use to communicate exploded. At least 12 people were killed, and more than 2,800 were wounded in the initial round of blasts. (Read more)

3. Gallant compliments Mossad as devices explode across Lebanon - Jerusalem Post
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in a speech about the situation in the North, explicitly complimented the Mossad, along with the entire defense establishment, for "great achievements" just as the region continued to convulse with news of devices exploding across Lebanon.
Gallant did not take explicit credit, and Israel has been careful not to take public credit for the exploding beepers on Tuesday or the exploding devices on Wednesday, but the timing and juxtaposition of his rare mention of the Mossad along with the new round of explosions was striking.
'New stage in war'
He also stated Israel was beginning a new stage in war.

4. UN General Assembly passes resolution calling for Jerusalem Old City to be Jew-free - JNS
Jerusalem’s Old City and Jude and Samaria must be judenrein within a year, according to a Palestinian-drafted resolution, which the U.N. General Assembly passed on Wednesday.
The resolution, which passed by a 124-14 margin with 43 abstentions, is meant to give force to a July advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice, which declared Israeli presence to be illegal in any area over the 1949 armistice line.
More than 40 countries sponsored the resolution, which was the first that Palestinians filed after being granted unprecedented privileges, for a non-U.N. member, earlier this year. (Read more)

5. Shin Bet says it foiled Hezbollah attempt to kill former top Israeli security official - Times of Israel
The Shin Bet foiled an attempt by Hezbollah to assassinate a former senior Israeli security official using an explosive device, the security agency announces.
The attack was intended to have been carried out in the coming days, according to the Shin Bet.
The agency says that the Hezbollah network behind the attempted attack was also responsible for a bombing in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park last year.
The Shin Bet says it uncovered a Claymore-type explosive device, known to be in use by Hezbollah, which was intended to have been used to target the former official. (Read more)

1. Sean 'Diddy' Combs arrested following raids, human trafficking investigation - Fox News
Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested Monday in Manhattan, Fox News Digital confirmed. It's unclear what charges Diddy faces. Combs was arrested in the lobby of a New York hotel, a source confirmed to Fox News Digital.
"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office," Marc Agnifilo, Combs' lawyer said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.
United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams confirmed on X that a sealed indictment was filed and will be unsealed in the morning. On March 25, the music mogul’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided in connection to a federal human trafficking investigation, officials confirmed to Fox News Digital at the time.
"Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners," Homeland Security Investigations said in a statement. 2. House Dem leader rails 'we must stop' MAGA amid news of 2nd Trump assassination attempt - Fox News
As headlines spread like wildfire that former President Trump was likely targeted in a second assassination attempt, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries posted a message to X demanding supporters "stop" the "extreme MAGA Republicans."
"Extreme MAGA Republicans are the party of a national abortion ban and Trump’s Project 2025," Jeffries, D-N.Y., posted to X at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. “We must stop them." The statement was posted well after news broke that Trump was safe following what authorities described as a likely assassination attempt on his life.
Authorities in West Palm Beach, Florida, received calls of shots fired at Trump International Golf Club at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Trump campaign issuing a statement after 2 p.m. that the 45th president was "safe following gunshots in his vicinity." About two hours after Jeffries posted about stopping "extreme MAGA Republicans," he condemned the attack against Trump, posting at 5:33 p.m., "Political violence has no place in a democratic society." 3. Old video resurfaces of Harris cackling about idea of Trump’s potential death - DML News
Amid a second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, an old video has resurfaced on social media about Kamala Harris laughing over the idea of Trump’s potential death.
The video is from an early April 2018 appearance on the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
DeGeneres asks Harris during the in-studio interview, “If you had to be stuck in an elevator with either President Trump, Mike Pence, or Jeff Sessions, who would it be?”
Harris cocks her head and pretends to consider the question, then quips, “Does one of us have to come out alive?” She then begins cackling like a hyena as the audience laughs and applauds.

4. A wave of exploding pagers in Lebanon and Syria kills at least 8, including members of Hezbollah - Associated Press
Hundreds of handheld pagers exploded near simultaneously across Lebanon and in parts of Syria on Tuesday, killing at least eight people, including members of the militant group Hezbollah and a girl, and wounding the Iranian ambassador, government and Hezbollah officials said.
Officials pointed the finger at Israel in what appeared to be a sophisticated, remote attack that wounded more than 2,700 people at a time of rising tensions across the Lebanon border.
The Israeli military declined to comment.
A Hezbollah official who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Associated Press that the new brand of handheld pagers used by the group first heated up, then exploded, killing at least two of its members and wounding others.
Lebanon’s health minister, Firas Abiad, said at least eight people were killed and 2,750 wounded — 200 of them critically. (Read more)

5. Huge explosion rocks Texas following gas pipeline breach - The Daily Mail
An evacuation order has been issued after a pipeline in a Texas city burst into flames. The fire started just before 10am in La Porte, which is located around 25 miles southwest of Houston.
The company that owns the pipe, Energy Transfer, has since confirmed it is a natural gas line which they have now isolated so it can burn itself out. According to the company they had been made aware that an unknown vehicle had struck a valve at the pipe, which they believe may have caused the fire.
Dramatic images captured at the scene show an extremely large jet of fire burning high in the sky, blanketing the area in thick black smoke.
Other images captured at the scene show the damage caused to the nearby area, with one picture showing a burnt out car. (Read more)

Microsoft CEO Bill Gates warns that if the world avoids major war, another global pandemic is likely within the next 25 years, citing current global unrest as a potential trigger. His concerns stem from the observed lack of preparedness during the COVID-19 crisis, which spotlighted the scientific community’s anxiety about future health emergencies.

Stupidocrisy: Kamala’s Brand of Freedom

Kamala Harris talks a lot about freedom in her policy page “A New Way Forward.” Her policy page says, “Vice President Harris’ fight for our future is also a fight for freedom. In this election, many fundamental freedoms are at stake: the freedom to make your own decisions about your own body without government interference; the freedom to love who you love openly and with pride; and the freedom that unlocks all the others: the freedom to vote.” These so-called freedoms are the exact things that put people in bondage, which Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Each of Harris’ freedoms are entangled with sin.
The freedom to make your own decisions about your own body without government interference is about killing the unborn. Harris wants to make a universal law that allows all abortion. She vows to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision to turn the abortion laws over to the states. She says this has resulted in women “miscarrying in parking lots” and “losing the ability to ever have children again.” Of course, there are no names connected with this claim or reasons why, but Harris to says that abortion should be legal to protect healthcare of women and allow them to grow their families. How do you grow families by killing your babies? The government has a duty to protect life. Beyond government, God’s law is to choose life. Choosing death is a place of bondage. Read More

House Speaker Mike Johnson says House to vote Wednesday on 6-month continuing resolution with SAVE Act attached

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced Tuesday that he was moving forward with a chamber-wide vote to stop a government shutdown with a bill attached meant to crack down on noncitizen voting.
"Congress has an immediate obligation to do two things: responsibly fund the federal government, and ensure the security of our elections," Johnson said in a statement.
"Because we owe this to our constituents, we will move forward on Wednesday with a vote on the 6-month CR with the SAVE Act attached," he added. "I urge all of my colleagues to do what the overwhelming majority of the people of this country rightfully demand and deserve – prevent non-American citizens from voting in American elections."
Johnson is proposing a six-month extension of the current fiscal year’s government funding levels, known as a continuing resolution (CR), and attaching a bill known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which aims to require states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote and require states to remove noncitizens from existing voter rolls.
Most Democrats oppose the CR with the SAVE Act attached, and the Biden-Harris White House has threatened to veto such a measure. The CR also maintains opposition from some House Republicans.
"Your bill does NOT responsibly fund government," Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., wrote, responding to Johnson's statement on X. "It’s 12 bills rolled into one bill that continues the profligate spending that’s ruining our country. The fact that you’ve added a 13th bill to it does not make it a serious solution. We thank You that our Speaker of the House is a brother in the Lord, and that he is trying very hard to get along with everyone in order to keep the peace, but this matter is far greater than one of compromise.
Allowing illegal aliens to vote in state after state is egregious on its face, not to mention that the aliens don't speak our language, don't know what our elections involve, and only do as they are told; which is voting Democratic. This practice is unjust, unrighteous and fraudulent, and Holy King, we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on You as we beseech You for answers and a turn-around in our nation. It seems it's going to take something dramatic, like the government being shut down, in order to compel justice in our land. We can deal with it because we have You as our strong tower and we pray for whatever it takes to wrestle our nation back to a righteous and honorable foundation, in Jesus' name. Amen

Teamsters Decline to Make Presidential Endorsement

The Teamsters union announced it will not offer an endorsement in the 2024 presidential election, though its members overwhelmingly support former President Donald Trump.
The union said in a release that it received few commitments on top Teamsters issues from Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris.
Nearly 60% of Teamsters members who participated in an electronic survey support Trump compared to 34% for Harris. A survey conducted over the phone found Trump leading 58% to 31%, the union said.
"Unfortunately, neither major candidate was able to make serious commitments to our union to ensure the interests of working people are always put before Big Business," Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien said in a statement. "We sought commitments from both Trump and Harris not to interfere in critical union campaigns or core Teamsters industries —and to honor our members' right to strike — but were unable to secure those pledges."

Radios manufactured by Japanese firm ICOM reportedly were among the devices exploding in Lebanon on Wednesday, according to reports first shared with The Jerusalem Post by Bernie News and then confirmed by New York Times journalist Christiaan Triebert over social media.
These radios follow the wave of pagers that exploded in Lebanon and parts of Syria on Tuesday, wounding over a thousand people, especially members of Hezbollah and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
While these attacks were attributed to Israel by Lebanese figures and foreign reports, the Jewish state has not confirmed its involvement.
At the time of writing, hundreds of people were already reportedly wounded due to these latest explosions.

Stadium-sized asteroid deemed 'potentially hazardous' by NASA, is expected to move 'relatively close' to Earth

The asteroid is moving at around 20,000 miles per hour.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is monitoring a "potentially hazardous" asteroid that is moving past Earth on Tuesday.
NASA told Fox News Digital that the rocky object, which has been named 2024 ON, is 350 meters long by 180 meters wide, which roughly equals 1,150 feet by 590 feet – larger than previous estimates.
NASA has deemed the asteroid "stadium-sized" and reported it was 621,000 miles away from Earth on Tuesday morning, which is considered relatively close. Davide Farnocchia, a navigation engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, told Fox News Digital that an asteroid of this size coming this close to Earth only happens every five to ten years.
Farnocchia, who works at the laboratory's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies, said that the last time a large meteor entered the Earth's atmosphere was in Russia in 2013. Earth has not been hit by a meteor of 2024 ON's size since prehistoric times. Read More

US Pastor David Lin returns home after 17-year wrongful detention in China

California Pastor David Lin has been released from a Chinese prison after nearly two decades and has returned to the United States, the State Department said Sunday, ending a case that sparked an international outcry from free speech advocates and U.S. officials who say he was wrongfully detained. “We welcome David Lin’s release from prison in the People’s Republic of China,” the State Department said, Politico reported, adding that the 68-year-old pastor “now gets to see his family for the first time in nearly 20 years.” Lin’s daughter, Alice Lin, told the outlet that the State Department notified her on Saturday that Chinese authorities had released her father from prison and that he would arrive in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday. "No words can express the joy we have — we have a lot of time to make up for,” she said. Lin, a U.S. citizen, was working to establish a Christian training center in Beijing in 2006 when he was first questioned by Chinese authorities and barred from leaving the country. He was later detained and charged with fraud under unclear circumstances. In December 2009, Lin was sentenced to life imprisonment. He has denied all charges. After several sentence reductions, he was set to be released in 2029.
Lin was active in China’s underground house church movement, which involves discreet religious gatherings often held in private homes and not connected to state-sponsored religious organizations. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has noted that this movement "has long faced hostility from Chinese authorities" and participants often face "intimidation, harassment, arrest, and harsh sentences." Although Lin has staunchly maintained his innocence, he did not raise the attention of his case because he felt as though his imprisonment was a God-ordained mission field, his daughter said in a 2019 interview on the Washington Watch radio program. She added that her father told the family that officials forged documents and even tried to get him to sign a confession — something he would not do because he “'didn’t do anything wrong'. What we do know is that he was in China because he had this huge burden for the unchurched in China. He had the vision to build a church and a Christian training center,” she explained, adding that he was imprisoned because of his faith. "His last message to us as a free man ... he told us, 'Don't worry, God knows what He is doing. It is God's wish that I am here. There are many people inside that need to hear God's Word. Please don't worry, but only pray for me. I will be back in the U.S. soon.' That was 10 years ago." (Christian Post) Read More

We ask for Your continual protection upon underground house-churches and all believers who have been unfairly detained because of faith in Christ. Bless Pastor Lin as he reunites with his family and bring healing, by restoring all the years that the locusts have eaten.
