House funding bill aims to 'remove the woke' at DHS and restart border wall construction
|
|
A member of the House Appropriations Committee says that the chamber's Department of Homeland Security appropriation bill is centering around border security — particularly restarting border wall construction — to combat the ongoing crisis at the southern border, as well as cutting spending and getting rid of "woke" funding sources.
"We said we'd do two things: We'd curb the spending, and we would remove the woke," Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., told Fox News Digital in an interview this week.
The appropriations bill for DHS includes a slew of Republican priorities when it comes to the border, including increasing funding for wall construction along the southern border by over $2 billion, and would force the agency to allocate the funding to build it within 120 days. It is expected to move forward next week.
The Trump-era wall project was scrapped by the Biden administration, although some construction is still ongoing due to language in appropriations bills approved during the Trump administration. Zinke made clear that it remains a top priority for Republicans in this legislation. (Read more)

Democrat President Joe Biden’s White House is already obstructing the U.S. House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry announced by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) when it disseminated talking points to the media falsely claiming there was no evidence to begin the inquiry, McCarthy told Breitbart News exclusively.
McCarthy, who appeared on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel, said a document drafted by the White House counsel’s office and sent from formal White House staff to media outlets at the outset of the impeachment inquiry — which led to the false reports and the use of the disinformation talking point by many media outlets and Democrats allied with the White House—could amount to obstruction of the investigation.
“You’re 100 percent right,” McCarthy said when Breitbart News noted there is in fact evidence and the fake talking point the White House disseminated is disinformation. “And you just raised another issue that points to why we need impeachment inquiry to have the strength of our subpoenas because you now have the White House counsel. That talking point didn’t come from the campaign. It came from the taxpayer-paid White House counsel directly to media outlets. So think of the fear they have, whether they’re going to be allowed to go before government or others when you have the White House counsel threatening them to say investigate Republicans, there’s nothing here. House Republicans Investigating Biden Admin’s Response To Deadly Maui Fires
|
|
House Republicans are investigating the Biden administration’s response to the deadly Maui fires, questioning aspects of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s handling of the catastrophe which left nearly 100 people dead and dozens missing,
Republicans on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and the Subcommittee on Government Operations sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell on Friday asking for a detailed description of how much aid the agency has provided, plans for housing federal responders, and how Hawaiians who lost their home doing the fires are being housed.
“The deadly wildfire in Maui shocked the nation and left many, especially those directly impacted by the tragedy, with serious questions that remain unanswered today. President Biden built his entire reputation on empathy and compassion but failed to deliver an appropriate response when it mattered most. To ensure locals are receiving the assistance they need, and taxpayer dollars being used effectively, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is taking action and seeking information from FEMA on all ongoing recovery efforts in Maui,” committee chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) said in a statement.
In the letter, Comer and Sessions said that there had been reports of Hawaiians whose help was delayed because the FEMA responders lacked knowledge or authority to make decisions and red tape had slowed down the process. (Daily Wire) Read more here.

Exclusive — Speaker McCarthy Pushes for Full House to Get Classified Briefing on Border After ISIS-Connected Smuggler Found Bringing People In

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has requested an all-members classified briefing for “all 435” members of the U.S. House of Representatives on national security threats at the United States border with Mexico after reports that a smuggler with ties to ISIS was found bringing people across the border this summer.
McCarthy revealed the push for the classified briefing for every member of the House during an exclusive interview on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel.
The push comes after a CNN report in late August revealed that President Joe Biden’s cabinet was warned in classified security briefings that a smuggler with ties to the Islamic State was found to be helping migrants sneak into the United States across the southern border. It is unclear at this time who exactly this ISIS-connected smuggler was bringing into the country and if those people represent a threat to national security. But CNN’s report noted that several top Biden administration officials were so “alarmed” by the revelations they included the classified information in a briefing to top cabinet officials. Read more

1. Protest leaders file police complaint accusing Netanyahu of incitement - Israel National News
Protest organizers Eran Schwartz and Moshe Redman filed a police complaint against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of 'incitement' against the anti-judicial reform protests after he stated that the protestors "join up with the PLO, Iran, and others."
Redman wrote on Facebook: "I call on anyone who also feels that Netanyahu's words yesterday amount to sedition to do the same thing I did, go to the nearest police station or the website of the Israel Police and simply file a complaint. We cannot ignore these slurs."
Before departing for the US last night, Netanyahu stated: "Nothing surprises me. The organizers of this protest are equipped with a lot of money. These are sponsored and organized demonstrations that cross all boundaries. They led to the fact that blocking roads became a normal thing, that violent harassment of public figures is an apparently normal thing, and that refusal to serve is a normal thing. Therefore, when they go and slander Israel before the other nations, it also seems normal to them. It's not normal to me, when I was the head of the opposition, I never did such a thing." (Read more)

2. TERROR WAVE: Three shooting, stabbing attacks in one day - World Israel News
Three separate terror attacks were reported across Israel Monday morning, hours after the end of the Rosh Hashana holiday.
The first incident, a stabbing attack, was foiled in Jerusalem Monday morning.
The incident occurred at the Mazmoria checkpoint in the Har Homa neighborhood of southern Jerusalem, just north of the Gush Etzion district, when a Palestinian Arab terrorist drew a knife and ran towards a group of Border Police officers stationed at the checkpoint.
The Border Police officers spotted the terrorist approaching while brandishing the knife and opened fire, neutralizing him. No Israelis were wounded in the incident. (Read more)

This week’s meeting in New York between the leaders of Israel and the United States on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly is sure to be a headline-grabber.
But Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations says there are plenty of other reasons to pay attention to the goings-on at the annual High-Level Week at Turtle Bay.
Israeli envoy Gilad Erdan and his Moroccan counterpart Omar Hilale were tasked by the UNGA president with co-facilitating one of the Assembly’s main events this week. Wednesday’s High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, will bring together heads of state and government to “adopt a political declaration aimed at mobilizing political will at the national, regional and international levels for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response,” according to the United Nations. 4. Netanyahu talks to Elon Musk about antisemitism on X, AI - Israel Hayom
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu kicked off a US trip in California to talk to billionaire businessman Elon Musk about antisemitism on his social media platform X – while Musk asked him to address his judicial overhaul in Israel. The two also discussed artificial intelligence in a sparsely attended livestream event Monday.
Netanyahu's high-profile visit to the San Francisco Bay Area comes at a time when Musk is facing accusations of tolerating antisemitic messages on his social media platform, while Netanyahu is confronting political opposition at home and abroad. Protesters gathered early Monday outside the Fremont, California, factory where Tesla makes its cars.
The official agenda was to consider artificial intelligence, with Netanyahu and the Tesla CEO mostly in agreement on the need to weigh the technology's benefits against its societal risks. Netanyahu said controlling more advanced AI must start by getting like-minded states to agree to a code of ethics and conduct to foster the technology and "curb the curses." 5. German Leaders Rally Round Ambassador in Tel Aviv Following Israeli Government Criticism - Algemeiner
Germany’s top leadership on Monday rushed to the defense of Berlin’s Ambassador to Israel after he was lambasted by the Israeli government for allegedly interfering in the Jewish state’s internal politics.
The ambassador, Steffen Seibert, attended a critical Supreme Court hearing in Jerusalem last Tuesday concerning the controversial “reasonableness law” that is currently being advanced by Israel’s ruling right-wing coalition as part of its judicial overhaul package. Seibert posted a video of himself saying that he believed “something important is happening here for Israeli democracy, and we, as friends of Israel, are also looking with a lot of interest towards the Supreme Court, and I wanted to see for myself.”
As a result, Israel lodged a formal protest against Seibert, who previously served as the spokesperson for the former German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. (Read more)

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made their cases to evangelical voters who gathered in Washington for a pair of events on Friday, seeking an edge with a voting bloc likely to play a pivotal role in selecting a 2024 presidential nominee.
The pressure was all on DeSantis, who trails Trump in the Republican presidential primary by nearly 40 percentage points in most opinion polls, including among evangelical voters.
Both candidates spoke at a pair of national summits convened by the Concerned Women of America and the Family Research Council, evangelical advocacy groups that support laws restricting abortion among other issues.
At the Family Research Council event, DeSantis defended allowing churches to remain open in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing cheers from the ballroom crowd.

Former President Donald Trump slammed special counsel Jack Smith Friday for trying to secure a gag order in a post on Truth Social.
Smith requested a “narrowly-tailored” order, claiming that Trump’s comments on social media and elsewhere about the case “are intended to undermine public confidence in an institution — the judicial system — and to undermine confidence in and intimidate individuals –the Court, the jury pool, witnesses, and prosecutors,” according to ABC News. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges during his Aug. 3 arraignment after Smith secured a four-count indictment of Trump relating to his efforts to contest the results of the 2020 election.
“Biden Prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, has asked the Court to limit 45th President, and leading Republican Nominee (by more than 50 points, & beating Dems!) DONALD J. TRUMP’S, PUBLIC STATEMENTS,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

3. Biden Is Trying To Make It Harder To Fire Unelected Bureaucrats In Case A Republican Wins In 2024 - Daily Caller
The Biden administration is trying to protect unelected federal bureaucrats from being fired in the event of a Republican victory in 2024, according to a document filed with the Federal Register on Friday morning.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), an agency that manages all federal workers, proposed a rule that would protect the vast majority of career civil servants from being dismissed without cause, and give them the right to appeal, according to the filing. The rule would oppose the efforts of some Republican presidential candidates — should they become president — to unilaterally fire bureaucrats who disagree with conservative policies, as they have vowed to do.
“The 2.2 million career civil servants active today are the backbone of the Federal workforce … [t]hese employees take an oath to uphold the Constitution and are accountable to agency leaders and managers who, in turn, are accountable to the President,” the filing reads. “[M]ere disagreement with leadership—without defiance of lawful orders—does not qualify as misconduct or unacceptable performance.” (Read more)

4. Kansas Will No Longer Allow Residents To Change Gender On Birth Certificates - Daily Wire
Kansas will no longer allow people to change the gender on their birth certificate after Republicans passed a law enshrining the biological definition of woman into law.
The state’s health department was compelled to follow the law after Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach sued to stop state agencies from allowing people who say they are transgender to be able to change the gender on public documents.
After a legal back and forth, Kobach won in court, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said on Friday that it could “no longer process gender identity amendments to birth certificates.”
The health department said that birth certificates previously given out with changed gender would not need to be updated unless the individual needed to get a new one.
“If KDHE previously changed your birth certificate to align with your gender identity, that birth certificate is still valid; however, if a certified copy of that record is requested, then the new copy must reflect the sex assigned at birth,” the department said. (Read more)

5. Three More Pro-Life Activists Found Guilty of Violating FACE Act in Abortion Clinic Blockade - Breitbart
Three more pro-life activists were found guilty on Friday and immediately incarcerated for their role in an abortion clinic blockade that took place in Washington, DC, in October of 2020.
Pro-life activists Joan Andrews Bell, 74; Jonathan Darnel, 40; and Jean Marshall, 72, were found guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and conspiracy against rights for blocking access to the Washington Surgi-Clinic, a clinic infamous for late-term abortions. The guilty verdict comes after five other pro-life activists involved in the same blockade were found guilty on all charges in late August.
“This overreaching of power and authority by Biden’s DOJ is egregious and must be stopped. Nonviolent pro-life actions should not be a federal crime, and peaceful people with a desire to save lives should not be jailed for over a decade. Some of these Rescuers could be facing death by incarceration. We must repeal the FACE Act now!” said Caroline Taylor Smith, executive director of PAAU (Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising), a leftwing pro-life group. (Read more)

6. Man With Gun Posing As U.S. Marshal Arrested At RFK Jr. Campaign Event: Police - Faily Wire
An armed man was arrested for posing as a U.S. Marshal while at an event in Los Angeles for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., according to the police.
Kennedy was set to speak at a “Hispanic Heritage” event at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles when a man approached him and identified himself as a member of his security detail, Kennedy said. Police later arrived and arrested the man.
“The man, wearing two shoulder holsters with loaded pistols and spare ammunition magazines was carrying a U.S. Marshal badge on a lanyard and beltclip federal ID. He identified himself as a member of my security detail. Armed GDBA team members moved quickly to isolate and detain the man until LAPD arrived to make the arrest. I’m also grateful to LAPD for its rapid response,” Kennedy posted on X. (Read more)

7. Jim Jordan subpoenas FBI Agent Elvis Chan over Biden admin collusion with Big Tech - Just the News
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Friday issued a subpoena to FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Office Elvis Chan after the Department of Justice blocked Chan's appearance at a voluntary interview.
"The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of how and to what extent the Executive Branch has coerced and colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech," Jordan wrote. "As the primary liaison between the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) and social media companies, you are uniquely positioned to aid the Committee’s oversight."

8. Indictment of 'America's Chaplain' in Georgia election case spurs questions about evidence - Just The News
Rev. Stephen Lee, also known as “America’s Chaplain,” was surprised when he heard the news that he was indicted in the Fulton County 2020 election case along with former President Donald Trump and 17 others. A judge in Illinois had previously quashed a subpoena from District Attorney Fani Willis for Lee because the judge held that there was insufficient evidence that he was a material witness in the case to justify the subpoena.
Lee, Trump, and 17 others were indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on Aug. 14, concluding D.A. Willis’ two-plus year's long investigation into an alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 presidential election. All defendants turned themselves in to the Fulton County jail by the deadline of noon on Aug. 25 to be processed, then chose to not appear for their arraignments last Wednesday and pleaded not guilty.

Why Rosh Hashanah Is Important To You

By the time you read this, Rosh Hashanah will be completed. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. It is also very significant for followers of Christ. On Rosh Hashanah, according to Jewish tradition, the destiny of the righteous are written in the “Book of Life.” The wicked, are written in the “Book of Death,” most that are not inscribed into either book have ten days (until Yom Kippur) to repent before their names are sealed in one of the books for another year. We as believers in the Messiah are sealed already through the sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ for our sins as is written in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He (God) has made him to be sin for us…that we may be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Rosh Hashanah means “head of the year,” and began Friday at sundown through sundown Saturday. According to tradition, the holiday commemorates the creation of mankind by God. The Talmud (the link between scripture and Jewish practice) refers to Rosh Hashanah as the “Day of Judgement” since all of creation owes the Creator accountability and allegiance. The name for God, Elohim, is used in Genesis 1:1, and reveals God as the Creator and Judge of creation, “In the beginning Elohim (God) created the heaven and the earth.” John 1:1-3 clarifies even further, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” Read More

Biohazard tents erected in Dover as alert issued after arrival of migrants from France

The Home Office has confirmed that a biohazard response at Dover harbour on Friday afternoon followed reports of some migrants arriving from France and "being unwell". GB News filmed as authorities wore specialist biohazard coveralls at the main migrant processing facility.
A number of blue biohazard tents were also erected near the main gangway where Border Force vessels disembark those migrants they pick up in the Channel.
GB News Kent producer reported that around a dozen personnel wore white coveralls and face masks as they unloaded dozens of people from the Border Force catamarans Ranger and Volunteer.
Some of the arrivals were led into the blue biohazard tents. At least four people were also pushed off the Border Force vessels in wheelchairs.
A Home Office spokesperson said: "Precautionary measures, such as staff wearing protective clothing and enhanced cleaning were taken, in line with UK Health and Safety Agency guidance, following reports of some small boat arrivals being unwell." The spokesperson added: "This is a routine response with prearranged protocols which are designed in cooperation with the UKHSA."
There have been regular health concerns and confirmed health-related incidents in recent months, relating to those arriving across the English Channel on small boats. Those migrants spend weeks, sometimes months sleeping rough in makeshift campsites around Calais and Dunkirk, where outbreaks of disease are commonplace.
In recent weeks, authorities dealt with outbreaks of scabies and a confirmed case of tuberculosis at the migrant accommodation centre at Wethersfield in Essex. Those outbreaks at the former RAF base have now been dealt with and the site has given the all-clear. (GB News) Read more here.

A Fox News reporter who has made a name for himself in recent years with his coverage of the porous U.S. border with Mexico said on social media that on Sunday night he witnessed “One of the largest mass illegal crossings we have ever seen.”
Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin posted video of the illegal crossing Monday morning on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“BREAKING: One of the largest mass illegal crossings we have ever seen took place in Eagle Pass, TX this morning, w/ Border Patrol sources telling us over 2,200 people crossed there since midnight,” he wrote.
“It happened right next to the port of entry, as illegal immigrants continue to ignore Biden admin messaging of ‘do not come’, & do not fear the promised ‘consequences’ for crossing illegally. Videos from source in MX & our FOX drone team on US side.”
Melugin added four videos to the post, as seen below.
The videos appeared to confirm that at least hundreds, if not thousands, of illegal border crossers were involved in the event. In less than two hours, Melugin’s post had already been liked over 3,000 times and re-posted nearly as often.
In addition to the likes and re-posts, a number of other X users — including Mr. X himself, CEO Elon Musk — were quick to reply to Melugin’s post as well. “Most people don’t understand that this is not a case of people from Mexico entering the US, but anyone from Earth,” Musk wrote in response to Melugin.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s administration has been selling off materials previously purchased to build a wall along portions of the U.S. border with Mexico.
In addition, a chief border patrol agent in Vermont noted earlier this month that illegal border crossings into the U.S. from Canada in 2023 were already higher than “the last 10 years combined.” (The Western Journal) Read more here.

Abandoned Apollo 17 lunar lander module
is causing tremors on the moon

(CNN) — A spacecraft left behind by US astronauts on the lunar surface could be causing small tremors known as moonquakes, according to a new study.
Researchers revealed the previously unknown form of seismic activity on the moon for the first time through an analysis of Apollo-era data using modern algorithms.
Massive temperature swings that occur on the moon can cause human-made structures to expand and contract in a way that produces these vibrations, the report suggests. The lunar surface is an extreme environment, oscillating between minus 208 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 133 degrees Celsius) in the dark and 250 degrees Fahrenheit (121 degrees Celsius) in direct sun, according to a news release about the study.
In fact, the entire surface of the moon expands and contracts in the cold and heat, noted the study published September 5 in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets. Yet scientists were able to use a form of artificial intelligenceto gain such an intimate understanding of the Apollo-era data that they could pinpoint gentle tremors that emitted from an Apollo 17 lunar lander module sitting a few hundred yards away from instruments recording the moonquakes, according to a synopsis of the study, which was led by Francesco Civilini, a recent California Institute of Technology postdoctoral researcher and a research space scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Little did she know that this seemingly ordinary headache would unveil a life-altering challenge. A subsequent CT scan at the hospital revealed a daunting reality—a large brain mass. "Aborting my baby was never an option to me because it goes against God's will," Tasha told Fox News Digital. "I had many deep conversations with Jesus that week in the hospital, and knew that if I held onto the Lord and His promises, He would keep my baby safe. Against all odds, Kann gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Gracey in October 2022. At that moment, according to medical predictions, she had roughly eight months left to live. Looking at her beautiful baby, she reflected on the enormity of the decision she had made. "Every single day, I look at my beautiful baby and think about how easy it was for them to tell me to abort—like she was nothing," she says. "If I had listened, my baby wouldn't be here. It's a miracle from God that we are both here." But Kann says she will keep fighting and "walk by faith" while focusing on raising her two young children.
