Russia to host joint military exercise with China, India, and Syria
|
|
Next month, Russia will host the Vostok 2022 military exercises at seven firing ranges in far eastern Russia and in the northern and central part Sea of Japan. Joining will be the militaries from China, India, and Syria.
Fifty thousand troops and over 5,000 weapons units, including 140 aircraft and 60 warships, will be used in the exercises. The Russian Defense Ministry said squadrons of Russian airborne troops, long-range bombers, and military cargo planes would participate in the drills along with other forces. Also taking part will be several former Soviet republics, Belarus, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua, and Syria. Held September 1-7, these will be the first military exercises held by Russia since it invaded Ukraine on February 24.
The Russian defense ministry noted that as part of the maneuvers, warships from the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) will take part in the drill in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan to “practice joint action to protect sea communications, areas of marine economic activity and support for ground troops in littoral areas.”
The exercise in the Sea of Japan is especially concerning as it implies a unified Russian-Chinese military front. Russian authorities voiced assurances that there was no reason for concern. (Israel365News) Read more here.

Palestinian worker for Evangelical charity gets 12 years for funneling $50 million to Hamas
|
|
On Tuesday, The Beersheba District Court sentenced Mohammed Halabi to 12 years in prison on charges of being a member of the Hamas terrorist group and financing terrorist activities. He was also convicted of transmitting information to the enemy and possession of a weapon.
Regarding the harsh sentence, the court said that a harsh sentence was needed to deter potential future criminality by humanitarian workers who might think their positions in NGOs could serve as cover for aiding terror groups.
Halabi’s lawyer Maher Hana said that he would appeal the conviction to the Supreme Court. The prosecution also said it was considering appealing, noting it had requested between a 16-21 year jail sentence.
World Vision, an international Christian humanitarian organization, responded to the conviction:
“World Vision emphatically condemns any and all acts of terrorism or support for such activities. We reject any attempt to divert humanitarian resources or exploit the work of aid organizations operating anywhere, and we do not see evidence of these things in this case.”
The Foreign Ministry said, “Any diversion of humanitarian funds for terrorist purposes is a reprehensible act committed at the expense of the welfare of the Palestinian residents of Gaza. Israel will continue to use the tools at its disposal to prevent such crimes, and to hold Hamas and other terrorist groups accountable for perpetrating them.”
“Israel takes note of World Vision’s statement following the judgment, including its condemnation of any act of terrorism or support for such activities, and its rejection of any attempt to divert humanitarian resources or exploit the work of humanitarian organizations,” said the ministry. Israeli solar tower seen from space as “a light unto the nations”
|
|
Israel’s role as a “light unto the nations” became a reality when the International Space Station made a daytime pass over the Middle East last Thursday. Italian European Space Agency astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti noted an incongruous bright spot of light in the middle of the Negev Desert, identifying it as the tower at the Ashalim solar power station.
“Intriguing sight!,” the first Italian astronaut tweeted. “A bright dot in the Negev desert…so unusual to see human-made lights in day passes! It’s a concentrated solar power plant, one of the technologies to get renewable energy from the Sun. With one of the world’s tallest solar power towers!”
Completed in 2019, the tower is 260 meters tall, including the boiler, making it the second tallest in the world today. (365Israel News) (Read more)

Ronald Reagan deserves credit, not Mikhail Gorbachev
|
|
|
On the occasion of Mikhail Gorbachev’s death, he is being credited for allowing the Soviet Union and its Evil Empire to unravel peaceably. In fact, thanks to Ronald Reagan, as a practical matter, he had little choice.
To be sure, the Soviet army still had many weapons with which to kill and oppress. But thanks to President Reagan’s determination to roll back the USSR – something he pledged to do in the 1980 campaign and then accomplished with a comprehensive strategy aimed at bankrupting the Kremlin’s communist system – Gorbachev was reduced to presiding over a national Chapter 11.
We’ll be unable to achieve a similar victory over the Soviet Union’s successor as what Ronald Reagan would call our time’s “existential threat to freedom” – namely, the Chinese Communist Party – as long as we persist in underwriting and otherwise propping it up via “engagement.”

1. Lapid, Biden talk Iran deal as EU says agreement could be days away - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Yair Lapid and US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone on Wednesday, for the first time since a new draft of the Iran nuclear deal was tabled, and as the negotiations’ coordinator said an agreement could be days away.
The leaders spoke for an hour about the talks and stopping Iran’s progress toward a nuclear weapon. Lapid also praised strikes Biden ordered in Syria, in the context of acting against Iran’s regional aggression. (Read more)

2. Former Israeli MK, spying for Hezbollah, funneled money to Arab party - World Israel News
An Arab party in the Knesset received millions of shekels in cash smuggled into the country by a former lawmaker suspected of spying for a terrorist organization, Israel Hayom reported Wednesday.
In 2007, Azmi Bishara, then an MK for the Arab nationalist party Balad, fled Israel, eventually taking up residence in Qatar.
Bishara posted his resignation as a Member of the Knesset from the Israeli Embassy in Egypt, after being accused of spying on behalf of the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorist organization.
According to newly published information obtained by Israel Hayom, it appears that the Balad party maintained ties with the disgraced former MK for years after his departure from Israel. (Read more)

3. Gun battle rages between IDF forces, Arab terrorists in Samaria - Israel National News
Arab terrorists in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria opened fire on Israeli soldiers Tuesday morning, as Israeli security forces operated in the area in a bid to capture terrorists linked to a string of recent terror attacks.
Israeli forces returned fire, sparking a gun battle as Israeli police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), backed by the IDF, lay siege to a building where two wanted terror suspects are believed to be hiding.
The two are wanted in connection with a number of recent terrorist shootings in Samaria, including an attempted attack in the Israeli town of Shavei Shomron. (Read more)

4. Italian Ex-Deputy PM Commits to Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital, Moving Embassy if Coalition Elected - Algemeiner
A former deputy prime minister of Italy pledged in an interview published Tuesday to stand by his promise to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital should his coalition emerge victorious in upcoming elections.
Matteo Salvini’s party “Lega” is part of a right-wing coalition that garnered nearly 50 percent support in recent polling, and which is expected to win a majority of seats in Italy’s parliamentary elections on September 25.
When asked by the newspaper Israel Hayom if he would honor his “promise to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move Italy’s embassy to Jerusalem,” Salvini — who is expected to have a senior government role should the right-wing coalition come to power — affirmed, “absolutely yes.” (Read more)

5. Teacher strike averted, Israeli school year to begin on time - Israel National News
Negotiators from the Israeli Treasury and the teachers’ union achieved a breakthrough in talks Wednesday morning, laying the foundation for an agreement which will allow the school year to begin Thursday, as scheduled.
Talks continued through the night Tuesday, even as the state filed a petition with the Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court requesting an injunction barring teachers from striking.
Just after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, however, representatives from both sides announced that the framework for a deal had been agreed upon. (Read more)

1. Federal court rules against HHS requiring religious doctors to perform gender transitions - The Washington Times
A federal appeals court on Friday blocked President Biden’s Health and Human Services mandate that would have forced religious doctors and hospitals to perform transgender procedures — including on children.
In a unanimous ruling from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the three-judge panel said the lower court was right to issue a permanent injunction that protects a healthcare network of nearly 20,000 religious doctors and medical providers from performing abortions and transgender care.
The Catholic hospital group had argued the Biden administration’s rule issued through the Health and Human Services Department requiring medical providers not to discriminate and deny care “on the basis of sex” didn’t only mean biological gender — but also extended to LGBTQ individuals. (Read more)

2. President Announces $10,000 Student Loan Forgiveness Plan as Constitutionality is Questioned - Daily Citizen
President Biden announced on Wednesday that the Federal government will be forgiving $10,000 in student loans for borrowers earning less than $125,000 annually – or for couples making up to $250,000. The plan will also continue the pause on repaying student loan debt through December 31, 2022, for “one final time.”
The administration also announced that the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) would provide up to $20,000 in debt cancellation to Pell Grant recipients. The White House asserted on Wednesday that under the plan, “No high-income individual or high-income household – in the top 5% of incomes – will benefit from this action,” which is defined as a household bringing in $250,000 annually.
Announcing the student loan cancellation in a speech from the White House, President Biden said that 43 million people will benefit from the debt cancellation. (Read more)

3. Florida school board elections prove parents are fed up with progressive, godless education - Freedom Center
Less than 48 hours after Christianity Today ran an article telling Christian parents that they shouldn’t run for the school board, conservatives captured seats on multiple boards in local elections across Florida, removing them from liberal/woke control and putting the districts back in the hands of parents who believe in biology, reality, and common sense.
National Review reported that “multiple school boards across the state of Florida flipped conservative on Tuesday thanks to a groundswell of parental rights activism and GOP turnout.” Atotal of five school boards changed hands. Now, in Clay, Miami Dade, Duval, Sarasota, and Martin counties the school boards are controlled by conservatives.
In Sarasota, Florida, it was a massive upset. The board went from being controlled 4-1 by Democrats to now being in the hands of Republicans with a 3-2 majority.
Even more remarkable, perhaps, is that the Miami-Dade County school board is now the largest county in the entire country controlled by conservatives. Millions of students in the incredibly diverse Miami area will now have educational decisions and priorities made by a majority of parents who reject wokeness and will fight for reason, truth, and goodness in the classroom and the educational curriculum. 4. Trump slams DOJ's filing opposing 'special master,' allegation he tried to 'obstruct' probe - Fox News
Former President Donald Trump slammed the Department of Justice following the agency's opposition to his request for a "special master" to review documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate, claiming he had already "declassified" the materials.
In the 40-page response filed Tuesday, the Justice Department opposed the appointment of a special master to review documents seized from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, saying he "lacks standing" because the records in question belong to the United States, not him.
In addition, the DOJ's filing said documents were likely "concealed and removed from the Storage Room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation."
In a flurry of Truth Social posts Wednesday morning, Trump said it was "terrible" that the FBI "during the Raid of Mar-a-Lago, threw documents haphazardly all over the floor (perhaps pretending it was me that did it!), and then started taking pictures of them for the public to see. 5. Federal government gives controversial Wuhan-linked org $1 million to 'prevent future pandemics' - Just The News
The federal government has awarded a controversial nonprofit a $1 million grant for research to help prevent future viral pandemics, an award that comes after more than two years of suspicions that the nonprofit in question may have been bankrolling certain types of highly dangerous coronavirus experiments in the city where the COVID-19 pandemic began.
EcoHealth Alliance "was awarded a $1 million Predictive Intelligence for Pandemic Prevention Phase I (PIPP) grant by the National Science Foundation," EcoHealth said in a press release announcing the grant. "The team of scientists will strategize methods of early infectious disease detection and intervention," the nonprofit added.
EcoHealth has been in the spotlight of pandemic investigations for roughly two years due to its role in funneling considerable federal grant money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology that was used to conduct experiments in coronavirus virility and pandemic potential. (Read more)

6. NSA deploys Election Security Group to protect midterm elections - Just The News
The National Security Agency and Cyber Command has deployed its Election Security Group (ESG) to combat foreign cyber operations aimed at disrupting U.S. elections ahead of the November midterm contests.
“Thousands of people are going to work every day to defend the elections from foreign threats, from generating insights to sharing information to imposing costs by degrading and disrupting foreign adversary activity,” ESG spokesperson Katrina Cheesman said to the Washington Times.
The team traces its roots to a small group of specialists created to combat Russian election interference during the 2018 midterms, according to the outlet. At that time, pundits and politicians were pushing a narrative that the Trump campaign actively conspired with agents of the Russian government to hand the 2016 presidential election to the Republican. 7. Pentagon to hold classified meeting on Russia and China's space weapon plans - Just The News
The Pentagon will hold a classified meeting next week to discuss Russia and China's possible plans to obtain novel space weapons, a publicly posted agenda shows.
The discussion follows Russia's launch of a missile to destroy a Soviet-era satellite and China's apparent test of a hypersonic glide vehicle, Defense News reported.
Adm. Charles Richard, chief of U.S. Strategic Command, said China tested a capability "never before seen in the world."
He warned that China's new vehicle means "decreased warning timelines, difficulties in attribution and an increased threat to our traditional space and missile defenses and forces."
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, his deputy Kathleen Hicks and Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl will meet Sept. 6 and 7 with the Defense Policy Board advisory group to discuss China and Russia's possible plans. (Read more)

8. The U.S. housing market downturn will be worse in 2023, forecasts Goldman Sachs - Fortune
The U.S. entered into its first housing downturn of the post–Great Financial Crisis era. And the worst still awaits. On Tuesday, researchers at Goldman Sachs released a paper titled “The Housing Downturn: Further to Fall.” The investment bank now forecasts that activity in the U.S. housing market will end 2022 down across the board. The firm projects sharp declines this year in new home sales (22% drop), existing home sales (17% drop), and housing GDP (8.9% drop). For perspective, Russia’s souring economy is only expected to see its GDP fall 3% this year.
And don’t expect relief in 2023. Goldman Sachs projects further declines next year in new home sales (another 8% drop), existing home sales (another 14% drop), and housing GDP (another 9.2% drop)
This housing downturn, of course, is a direct result of the Federal Reserve's inflation fight. Not long after the central bank began applying upward pressure this spring on mortgage rates, the housing market slipped into slowdown mode. Home shoppers across the country put their home search on pause. That housing market downturn, the Fed hopes, will slow down the rest of the economy and, in theory, help to rein in runaway inflation. 9. Reuters Poll: Joe Biden’s Net Approval Drops 7 Points in One Week - Brietbart
President Joe Biden’s net approval rating dropped a full seven points in one week, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday. Only 38 percent approved of Biden this week, while 58 percent disapproved for a net approval rating of -20. Last week, 41 percent approved of Biden and 54 percent disapproved for a net approval rating of -13.
The poll sampled 1,005 Americans with a four-point margin of error. Those sampled included 449 Democrats and 357 Republicans.
Reuters admitted the poll is “a poor sign for his Democratic Party’s hopes in the Nov. 8 midterm elections … despite a string of Democratic legislative victories that Biden’s allies hope will help them defend their narrow congressional majorities in November.” (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: FBI And CIA Credibility

An August poll of 1,335 adults by Technometrica Institute of Policy and Politics (TIPP) indicated 79% of Americans believe President Donald Trump likely would have won reelection if voters had known the truth about Hunter Biden’s laptop—that it was real and not “Russian disinformation,” as intelligence officials aligned with Joe Biden falsely led the public to believe. TIPP revealed that the vast majority of those following the issue said they believe that the laptop is real, while only 11 percent still believe it was created by Russia. On October 19, 2020, 50 current and former CIA operatives wrote a public letter saying that the Hunter Biden laptop story was a Russian operation. The media believed them. Censorship followed.
Technometrica President Raghavan Mayur said, “Terming the laptop ‘disinformation’ by the FBI, Intelligence Community, Congress, and the Biden campaign, along with Big Tech, impacted voters. A significant majority—78 percent—believe that access to the correct information could have been critical to their decision at the polls.” He said that in fact, 47 percent said that knowing before the election that the laptop contents were real and not “disinformation” would have changed their voting decision—including more than two-thirds (71 percent) of Democrats. “No one is in charge” of protecting America’s electrical grid, Biden Homeland Security Advisor Dr. Liz Sherwood-Randall told CBS News’ 60 Minutes, during a recent short segment regarding the vulnerability of America’s most critical of critical infrastructures. Sherwood-Randall added that the federal government has no ability to mandate utility companies implement security improvements to the national electric grid.
One of the most troubling aspects of the 60 Minutes segment is that it only scratches the surface of the grid’s vulnerabilities. In reality, the U.S. government has known about these vulnerabilities for more than five decades. The government’s own reports highlighted the cyber insecurity of the critical electric infrastructure since at least 2003; geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) threats since at least 1990; the vulnerability of the electric grid to physical threats since at least 1981; and the danger posed by electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threats since at least 1972.
Indeed, the CBS News segment was nearly identical to a previous version which aired exactly six months prior, in February, and featured an expose on the professional assault on a major electrical substation near San Jose that nearly blacked out Silicon Valley, San Francisco in 2013.
Despite consistent recommendations to the Biden Administration and to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and her advisory board, the White House appears to have done nothing to remedy this glaring problem during the six months that have passed between CBS’ two episodes.(Center for Security Policy) Read more here . . . including now the

We pray for more citizens to become informed about our power grid and unite to demand safety and security over local systems. We pray for honorable leaders to arise who can stand against the power and compromise of those who ignore the vulnerabilities and Joe Biden and administration who have no idea what threats we face. Allegations of political bias, widespread misconduct prompt FBI agents to call for Wray resignation

Rank-and-file FBI agents say they cannot see how FBI Director Christopher A. Wray stays in his position after The Washington Times’ exclusive report about a senior bureau official stepping down under scrutiny for suspected political bias affecting investigations.
Kurt Siuzdak, a lawyer and former FBI agent who represents whistleblowers at the bureau, said agents tell him that Mr. Wray has lost control of the agency and should resign.
“I’m hearing from [FBI personnel] that they feel like the director has lost control of the bureau,” he said. “They’re saying, ‘How does this guy survive? He’s leaving. He’s got to leave.’”
FBI whistleblowers talking to Congress about corruption and retaliation say in disclosures that Mr. Wray was often notified of the problems within the bureau but never took action to resolve them.
That includes recent whistleblower disclosures to House Judiciary Committee Republicans about agents being forced or coerced into signing false affidavits and claims of sexual harassment and stalking. It also includes fabricated terrorism cases to elevate performance statistics, as reported this month by The Times.
“[The FBI agents] are telling me they have lost confidence in Wray. All Wray does is go in and say we need more training and we’re doing stuff about it, or we will not tolerate it,” Mr. Siuzdak said. (Washington Times) Read more here.

NASA Targets Sept. 3 for Next Artemis I Moon Mission

NASA will target Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:17 p.m. EDT, the beginning of a two-hour window, for the launch of Artemis I, the first integrated test of NASA’s Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and the ground systems at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Mission managers met Tuesday to discuss data and develop a forward plan to address issues that arose during an Aug. 29 launch attempt for the flight test. During that launch attempt, teams were not able to chill down the four RS-25 engines to approximately minus 420 degrees F, with engine 3 showing higher temperatures than the other engines. Teams also saw a hydrogen leak on a component of the tail service mast umbilical quick disconnect, called the purge can, and managed the leak by manually adjusting propellant flow rates.
In the coming days, teams will modify and practice propellant loading procedures to follow a procedure similar to what was successfully performed during the Green Run at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The updated procedures would perform the chilldown test of the engines, also called the kick start bleed test, about 30 to 45 minutes earlier in the countdown during the liquid hydrogen fast fill liquid phase for the core stage.
Teams also are configuring platforms at Launch Pad 39B to enable engineers access to the purge can on the tail service mast umbilical. Once access is established, technicians will perform assessments and torque connection points where necessary.

Almost to the day 22 years after TheCall DC, Custalow and Gen Z For Jesus will reunite with Engle and collaborate with ministries Awaken the Dawn, One Voice, Jesus Clubs and UPPERROOM Dallas for a live gathering in Texas on September 3.

The event is multi-generational in scope, but it is still focused on people born during the late 1990s into the early 2000s, Gen Z For Jesus is about the One who matters most. "We really want to make this moment about Jesus—not a personality or a speaker. We thought how beautiful it would be to take a sledgehammer to celebrity and platform Christianity," says Custalow, who follows Engle in calling youth to pray and fast.
Round-the-clock prayer and tent worship with Awaken the Dawn and UPPERROOM Dallas begins Wednesday, Aug. 31 leading to the stadium gathering at Comerica Center in Frisco. Teams will do prayer walks and outreach around the greater DFW area. A Jesus Clubs student leader at the time, Custalow started Gen Z For Jesus after three days of prayer and fasting with a handful of his peers—including One Voice President Brian Barcelona—when the pandemic forced school closings in 2020. "We came back to the table with things we felt like the Lord had spoken to us. I remember saying, 'I feel like the Lord is calling the youth of America to prayer and fasting. It's time for us to—not just reach Gen Z—but to empower it,'" Custalow recalls.
So, leaders agreed to launch Gen Z For Jesus on June 17, the day in 1963 when the Supreme Court ruled prayer and school-sponsored Bible reading unconstitutional. Thousands of students fasted, prayed and posted #Gen Z For Jesus online videos that reached 40 million TikTok viewers over four weeks. "A lot of kids who had never fasted reached out to us saying, 'I've never fasted before but my heart fills so alive,'" Custalow recalls. A prophetic word from Amos 2:11 and Malachi 4:5-6 preceded Gen Z For Jesus.
