Texas Couple Installs Large Cross on Front Lawn
— and It’s Far More Than Mere Decoration

A Texas couple on a mission for Jesus is inspiring people “one prayer at a time.” Bernie and Dee Ann Tackitt of Lubbock, Texas, have transformed their entire yard into a respite for those seeking the Lord, with Bernie adding a large cross to his property last year. But that cross is not just for decoration; it’s a place where community members are invited to post their written prayers to the Lord. Bernie told KCBD-TV he came up with the idea last year. “I thought, ‘I’m going to make a cross because I want everybody to know I’m — at this point in humanity, I’m going, ‘We need to pick a team,'” he said. “And I want everybody to know I’m with team Jesus.”
The cross has picked up coverage in local media, as people use it to post their requests to God. And Dee Ann, known for praying with strangers at the store and wherever else she goes, said there’s also a special bench at the home where people are welcome to sit and engage the Lord. “If you need to just sit down, have some quiet time with the Lord, come sit on my bench, talk to the Lord,” she told KCBD-TV. “Put that prayer on that cross and you know what, your prayer will be covered every day.” The Tackitts have always been Christians, but their journeys intensified a few years ago, when they were baptized. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson addressed claims that the Biden administration diverted Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds to immigration efforts, saying the pools of funds are "different," but that he understands why Americans are "frustrated."
"The streams of funding are different, that is not an untrue statement, of course," Johnson, R-La., told Fox News’ Shannon Bream on "Fox News Sunday." "But the problem is with the American people, see, and what they're frustrated by, is that FEMA should be involved. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, their mission is to help people in times like this of natural disaster. Not to be engaged in using any pool of funding from any account for resettling illegal aliens who have come across the border. That's what the Biden administration, Kamala Harris and Secretary Mayorkas have been engaged in."
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre last week denied that FEMA resources were going to migrants, but cited FEMA funds for migrants in 2022. "Former President Trump is accusing the Biden administration of using FEMA funding to support undocumented migrants. How is the White House responding to that?" a reporter asked during a Friday press conference.
FEMA’s website currently has a "Hurricane Helene: Rumor Response" page to address false claims surrounding recovery efforts, including a rebuke of the claim that FEMA diverted disaster response funds to "border related issues."
"This is false. No money is being diverted from disaster response needs. FEMA’s disaster response efforts and individual assistance is funded through the Disaster Relief Fund, which is a dedicated fund for disaster efforts. Disaster Relief Fund money has not been diverted to other, non-disaster related efforts," FEMA posted in response to the claim.
Hurricane Helene has left more than 220 people dead after flooding devastated towns and cities across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. (Fox News) Read more here.

Users on social media took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris after the Democratic nominee took to X to pledge millions of dollars in aid for Lebanon at the same time residents of North Carolina struggle to recover from Hurricane Helene.
"This has to be fake. Even Kamala Harris, the gold standard of stupid, isn’t stupid enough to post this," actor James Woods said on X Saturday. "Certainly not while North Carolinians are pulling the bodies of their neighbors from the wreckage. It’s simply inconceivable."
The post came in response to Harris pledging Saturday to send $157 million of "additional assistance" to Lebanon, which, she argued, is "facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation."
"I am concerned about the security and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue working to help meet the needs of all civilians there," the vice president said, adding that the money would go to "essential needs," including "food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict."
Users on social media were quick to slam Harris for the post, arguing that many North Carolina residents are struggling to recover from Hurricane Helene and that the money would be better spent on those relief efforts.
"Could this be any more tone deaf? We have Americans suffering and in danger right now after the hurricane and this is what Kamala has to announce. America First!" Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., said on X. (Fox News) Read more here.

DeSantis on Hurricane Milton: Florida preparing to open highway shoulders for evacuations

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says there’s still much uncertainty about Hurricane Milton, but the state is preparing to open highway shoulders for mass evacuations to come.
“We’re just dealing with a wide range of possibilities, (but there’s) certainty that we’re going to have major impacts,” DeSantis said at the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee on Sunday evening in his second press conference of the day.
The range of the storm – currently projected to be a Category 3 (now Category 5) by landfall – encompasses the entire Florida peninsula. The number of people expected to evacuate could be the largest since Hurricane Irma in 2017, but it is still too early to estimate.
Individual counties make evacuation calls. “Once those orders come down from all the counties, I think it’s going to be a significant number of people,” DeSantis said.
The Florida Department of Transportation is monitoring traffic, and as soon as travel speeds are down to 40 mph, the state will begin to open shoulders for travel to relieve congestion, according to state Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue.
Landfall could be anywhere along a wide swath of the state's Gulf coast. “Let that uncertainty influence your preparations,” DeSantis said. “You’re not going to be told with 100-degree certainty where this storm is going to go this far out in advance.”
The most recent track has the eye of Hurricane Milton hitting south of Tampa Bay, which will bring storm surge to Sarasota and Charlotte County. (Tallahasee Democrat) Read more here.

Supreme Court denies Biden administration appeal over federal emergency abortion requirement in Texas
|

The U.S. Supreme Court decided not to hear oral arguments about whether a Texas state abortion requirement is at odds with a federal emergency care law – permitting the restriction in the Lone Star State to be upheld.
Supreme Court justices, for now, are keeping in place a lower court ruling that hospitals in Texas can deny terminating certain emergency pregnancies that violate state law, despite the federal requirement.
The Biden administration had requested that the justices overturn the lower court's ruling, contending that federal law requires hospitals to provide abortions in emergency situations. They referenced last term, when the Supreme Court permitted emergency room abortions to continue in Idaho while a lawsuit continues in federal court. Texas is asserting that its laws are distinct from Idaho's because Texas has a health exception for pregnant patients.
In Texas, the central legal issue is whether the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), which mandates hospitals to treat emergency conditions, overrides state laws that prohibit abortion in emergencies. The case focuses on whether a state can stop an emergency physician from performing an abortion if it’s necessary to stabilize a pregnant woman's health. (Fox News) Read more here.

1. Reflections upon the Anniversary of October 7th - Israel 365 News
In the early summer, our staff got together to discuss planning how to commemorate the first anniversary of October 7th. I am always very proud of the Israel365 staff, who are all extremely creative, dynamic, and passionate about Israel, and yet this exercise was a depressing failure. Nothing we came up with seemed appropriately meaningful to mark such a massive trauma, that we are still reeling from. There were no words to convey our raw emotions. We had no ideas that could possibly do justice to the calamity that had befallen our people on Simchat Torah.
As religious Jews, we already have an annual memorial day to commemorate our bitter tragedies, which is Tisha B’Av. And in fact, for more than a year now, every day has felt like the 9th of Av. Our eyes have been wet with tears, our hearts broken, our voices lowered to a whisper. Yet, we are not permitted to mourn excessively and must find meaning in the depths so we can grow as individuals and as a nation from our grief.
While it can be overwhelming to know where to turn our attention on this first anniversary, by paying attention to what our enemies are saying, we can discover where to place our focus. Hamas called this war the ‘Al Aqsa Flood’ so we must double down on our embrace of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, and the entire Land of Israel. (Read more)

There is a “direct and immediate connection between pressure on Israel and Hamas’s appetite for negotiations” on a hostage deal, says government hostage point-man Gal Hirsch, hinting at recent decisions by France and the UK.
“When there is international pressure on us, in the UN for instance, in the Security Council, from different government officials, from the International Criminal Court, from the International Court of Justice, in the hope of taking advantage of tensions between us and Iran, or between Hezbollah… and us, the idea of ‘no daylight between us and our allies’ is important. Very important,” says Hirsch at Reichman University.

3. On Oct. 7 anniversary: Hamas rockets slam into central Israel - Jerusalem Post
Hamas fired five rockets at central Israel from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said on Monday, following the rocket sirens that sounded in the area starting at 11:00 a.m. local time.
Alerts sounded in Tel Aviv, Kfar Chabad, and Rishon Lezion, among other localities in the country's center.
The military noted that rocket impacts had been identified.
Shortly after the alerts, Magen David Adom said its paramedics, operating in the area of the Sdot Dan Regional Council, were providing medical care and transferring two women in their 30s who sustained light wounds from shrapnel to the Shamir Medical Center.

4. Israel-Hezbollah fighting intensifies, as memorials mark war anniversary - Reuters
JERUSALEM/BEIRUT, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel's third-largest city, Haifa, and Israel looked poised to expand its offensive into Lebanon on Monday, one year after the devastating Hamas attack on Israel that sparked the Gaza war.
Israelis held ceremonies and protests to mark the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack as the Gaza conflict has spread across the Middle East and raised fears of an all-out regional war.
Iran-backed Hezbollah, an ally in Lebanon of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza, said it targeted a military base south of Haifa with "Fadi 1" missiles and launched another strike on Tiberias, 65 km (40 miles) away.
The armed group later said it also targeted areas north of Haifa with missiles. Israel's military said around 190 projectiles had entered Israeli territory on Monday. There were at least 12 injuries. (Read more)

5. IDF shoots down missile fired from Yemen at Tel Aviv - World Israel News
Millions of Israelis were sent running for shelters on Monday evening as Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists fired a missile at the densely populated Tel Aviv region, the Israel Defense Forces said.
“Following alerts that were activated in several areas in the center of the country, the Air Force successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen,” the IDF posted on X.
The missile was intercepted outside of Israel’s borders.
Take-offs and landings were briefly suspended at Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport due to the Yemeni threat.
The missile attack came as the Jewish state marked one year since the Hamas-led Oct. 7 cross-border massacre in which some 1,200 people, primarily Jewish civilians, were murdered, thousands were wounded and 251 were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip.

Donald Trump Jr. and others blasted Vice President Kamala Harris after it was revealed that she went on the explicit podcast “Call Her Daddy” this week while Americans were dying in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Trump Jr. and others took to social media following reports on Friday in outlets like The Hill that Harris had sat for an interview on Tuesday with Alex Cooper for her popular podcast to talk about abortion, per the campaign, set to air sometime next week, while the death toll was climbing across the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.
“Americans are dying and this is how the sitting Vice President is spending her time!” Trump Jr. wrote on X. “EXCLUSIVE: Kamala Harris taped explicit “Call Her Daddy” interview as Helene death toll rose.”
Another person wrote, “While the death toll in North Carolina continues to rise, residents see their family members hanging in trees, and aid is actively being blocked by FEMA, Kamala Harris decided to film an episode of ‘Call Her Daddy’ Call Her Daddy is primarily a sex and relationship podcast.” (Read more)

2: Ohio Court Rejects Haitian Group’s Request for Arrest Warrants for Trump, Vance - Breitbart
An Ohio court rejected a Haitian group’s request for arrest warrants against former President Donald Trump and his vice presidential running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) regarding comments about Haitian migrants.
While a panel of judges referred a case from the Haitian Bridge Alliance against Trump and Vance to county prosecutors, the judges reportedly “found no probable cause” for them to issue arrest warrants or summons for “misdemeanor charges,” city officials explained, according to the Associated Press.
“The matter was then referred to the Clark County prosecutor’s office for further investigation,” Springfield officials said in a statement, according to the outlet.
The Haitian Bridge Alliance is described as being a “non-profit organization that advocates for fair and humane immigration policies and connects migrants with humanitarian, legal, and social services,” according to the organization’s website.
In September, the group reportedly “invoked a private-citizen right” and filed charges “over the chaos and threats” the Haitian community in Springfield dealt with after Trump issued claims that Haitian migrants were eating cats, dogs, and people’s pets, according to the outlet. (Read more)

3. Harris' 'word salad' answer on Israel alliance confounds social media users: 'Someone please interpret' - Fox
Vice President Kamala Harris was roasted on social media for a comment on Israel and how she "can’t make any sense at all" in a new viral clip.
Harris gave a rare sit-down interview on CBS’ "60 Minutes" Sunday, where Bill Whitaker asked whether the U.S. has any "sway" over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the war against Hamas continues. Monday marks one year since the brutal terrorist attack on Israel that sparked the war in Gaza.
"The aid that we have given Israel allowed Israel to defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles that were just meant to attack the Israelis and the people of Israel. And when we think about the threat that Hamas, Hezbollah presents, Iran, I think that it is without any question, our imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks," Harris responded.
She continued, "Now the work we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles, which include the need for humanitarian aid, the need for this war to end, the need for a deal to be done which would release the hostages and create a cease-fire. And we’re not going to stop in terms of putting that pressure on Israel and in the region, including Arab leaders." (Read more)
- Father, it is abundantly clear that Ms. Harris is not qualified to handle the office of President, especially with regard to foreign policy. The contradiction of “allowing Israel to defend itself” and “putting pressure on Israel” at the same time denies the fact that Israel is surrounded by enemies on all sides. Diplomacy does not stop evil; it only prolongs its practices. We pray that Americans will understand the problems of the Harris/Walz ticket, and help this nation stand wisely with Israel.

4: Report: Viktor Bout Back to Arms Dealing After Biden Prisoner Swap to Free Brittney Griner - Breitbart
Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, a.k.a. the “Merchant of Death,” has reportedly moved back into arms dealing just two years after President Joe Biden’s prisoner swap with Russia, trading Bout for WNBA star Brittney Griner.
In 2022, the Biden administration offered the Kremlin convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, who had been sentenced to 25 years in U.S. prison for illegal arms trade, in exchange for Griner.
At the time, Biden faced criticism for the swap, with some fearing that Bout’s crimes far too great for the warranting his release. The Biden administration defended the swap by claiming that Bout posed no further security risk to the United States.
However, Samuel Ramani, an associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), told the Hill at the time Bout could easily become “a threat down the line.” (Read more)

5. ‘Serious Problem’: America’s Cutting Edge Weaponry Is Dependent On Chinese Tech, Experts Warn – Daily Caller
American defense startups are far too reliant on Chinese parts — and that poses a serious risk of exploitation by Beijing, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Business is booming as hundreds of defense startups have joined the growing U.S. military-industrial complex since 2021, according to The Wall Street Journal. But defense contractors are heavily dependent on China for parts for weapons systems, including motors, chips and rare earth minerals, which poses potential avenues for Beijing to exploit or hamper American technologies, experts told the DCNF.
“This is a serious problem for two reasons,” John Lee, senior defense expert at the Hudson Institute, told the DCNF. “First, as we saw during the pandemic, over-reliance on Chinese supply chains for components and inputs leaves countries and economies vulnerable to politically or policy-motivated restrictions being imposed by Beijing.”
“Second, components can have elements inserted into them without the knowledge of the end user. This could be spying equipment, channels for China to disable or damage the component from a distance, or even materials that can weaponize the component,” Lee said.
New defense contractors particularly rely on these parts because they don’t enjoy the same cash reserve that the industry giants do, and China makes and sells the parts for a cheaper price. (Read more)

Remember the 1972 song Drift Away? The lyrics talk about a world that is so unkind and how the singer is confused each day. “Yet I look for the light through the pouring rain.” he sings, “I’m counting on you to pull me through…Thanks for the joy that you’ve given me. I want you to know I believe in your song. Give me the beat boys and free my soul. I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away.” Drift Away has some interesting allusions to a higher power. We know that the higher power is not rock and roll, unless the Rock is Christ. Isn’t it interesting how easily we can remember lyrics? Songs, or “shirim” in Hebrew, are a way to commit important prose to memory. Music and song can align us spiritually with the LORD.
There is something so spiritually profound about music that it lifts us up, inspires us, and motivates us. Songs of the Bible teach us about Israel’s history and God’s ultimate plan. The Jewish sages have counted ten songs in scripture that are key to Israel’s history: 1) the song of the Israelites in Egypt (Isaiah 30:29), 2) the Song of the Sea (Exodus15), 3) the song at the well (Numbers 21:17-18), 4) Ha’azinu, Moses’ song before his death, 5) Joshua sang a song (Joshua 10:12-13), 6) Deborah”s song (Judges 5), 7) Hannah”s song (1 Samuel 2), 8) David’s song (2 Samuel 22), 9) The Song of Solomon, and the tenth song hasn’t been sung yet, it is the song of the Messiah. Musk Launches PAC to Back Candidates Focused on Secure Borders, Free Speech, Sensible Spending

Business mogul Elon Musk has launched a new political action committee (PAC), called America PAC, to endorse candidates aligned with a set of values, including secure borders, sensible government spending, and free speech.
“This is the PAC that I created to support candidates who believe in the core values of America,” Musk wrote in a post on X on Oct. 5.
America PAC’s mission statement, posted on social media, outlines its focus areas: secure borders, safe cities, a fair justice system, self-protection, and free speech. The group highlighted its agenda by emphasizing that the issues it advocates for are those that impact Americans’ daily lives and that voters care about them deeply.

“America PAC was created to support these key values & leaders who fight for them,” the group wrote.
The PAC has also been vocal about illegal immigration, pointing to data on the rise of illegal border crossings in recent years.

'Extreme impacts': Milton becomes a Category 5 hurricane, to barrel ashore near Tampa Bay at midweek

A state of emergency has been declared in Florida ahead of Milton, which is forecast to plow into the western peninsula on Wednesday as a major hurricane, packing wind gusts up to 140 mph and 20 feet of storm surge.

Just days after Hurricane Helene's devastating impacts, another significant tropical threat to the United States is lurking in the Gulf of Mexico. AccuWeather experts are warning that Milton will plow ashore in the west-central Florida Peninsula later this week with the strength of a major hurricane.
Impacts ranging from a catastrophic storm surge to major flooding from rain, damaging wind gusts, pounding surf and tornadoes are expected in Florida as Milton moves through during the middle of the week.
