Franklin Graham says Americans Must Help Each Other Amid Storm Devastation, Trust in God's Goodness

Samaritan's Purse CEO Franklin Graham told The Christian Post that God is faithful amid suffering and that Americans must rely on each other after the recent hurricane devastation in the southeastern United States that afflicted his hometown. He also advised Americans against waiting for the government to save them in the wake of the damage from Hurricane Helene, which tore through a corridor extending from the Florida panhandle into Appalachia last week. The storm left wide swaths of death and destruction, especially in Graham's native western North Carolina, where his nonprofit Samaritan's Purse is based in Boone. The relief organization has been using helicopters to carry food, water and medical kits to some of the state's remote western counties, Graham told CP. Obama to Campaign for Harris in Pennsylvania, other Key States

Former President Obama is preparing to hit the campaign trail next week for Vice President Harris, focusing on key battleground states in the lead up to Election Day, according to a senior campaign official with anonymity to discuss the matter.
Obama, who served back-to-back terms as president from 2009 through 2017, will kick off his drive in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania on Thursday, a state which remains one of the tightest contests in the nation and which could tip the scales for either candidate.
A Fox News survey of Pennsylvania voters last week found Harris narrowly ahead of Trump by 2 points (50-48%) among registered voters, while the race is tied at 49% each among likely voters. President Biden won the state by more than 80,000 votes in 2020.
President Obama’s Senior Advisor Eric Schultz tells Fox News that the 44th president is determined to help Harris and other Democrats get elected.
"President Obama believes the stakes of this election could not be more consequential and that is why he is doing everything he can to help elect Vice President Harris, Governor Walz and Democrats across the country," Schultz said.
"His goals are to win the White House, keep the U.S. Senate, and take back the House of Representatives. Now that voting has begun, our focus is on persuading and mobilizing voters, especially in states with key races. Many of these races are likely to go down to the wire and nothing should be taken for granted."
Former President Obama remains extremely popular among Democrats according to opinion polls and his favorable rating is also in positive territory among independent voters. But most Republicans hold an unfavorable view of the former two-term president.

Kamala Harris Announces $750 for Hurrican Helene Victims After Announcing $8B for Ukraine
|

Vice President Kamala Harris announced $750 in aid for Hurricane Helene victims, just days after her and President Joe Biden’s administration announced $8 billion in a new installment of aid for Ukraine.
Harris spent the weekend campaigning on the West Coast as the hurricane unleashed deadly destruction across the nation’s southwest, killing hundreds of Americans, with hundreds more still missing.
On Wednesday, Harris visited Georgia — two days after former President Donald Trump visited — and announced what many are criticizing as a measly amount of aid for hurricane victims: $750.
Harris touted during remarks in Augusta, Georgia, “The federal relief and assistance that we have been providing has included FEMA providing $750 for folks who need immediate needs being met, such as food, baby formula, and the like. And you can apply now.”
The $750 is $50 more than the amount the administration gave the 2023 Maui wildfire victims, which included many who had lost their homes and loved ones.
Just a week ago, the Biden-Harris administration announced $8 billion for Ukraine.

Judge Unseals Legal Brief Targeting Trump Just One Month From Election Day
|
|
Former President Donald Trump is blasting the Biden-Harris Justice Department for “weaponizing” the legal system in a political “hit job” against him as a federal judge is releasing a lengthy brief accusing Trump of election interference crimes.
On Wednesday, Obama-appointed U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan unsealed a brief filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith in his continuing case against Trump related to the former president’s handling of the 2020 presidential election. Trump’s legal team previously requested that the brief be largely sealed until after the 2024 election in order to avoid “an improper motion for summary judgment in the court of public opinion” ahead of November.
Chutkan, however, argued Wednesday that there is “no support” for the Trump team’s claims. “These accusations, for which Defendant provides no support, continue a pattern of defense filings focusing on political rhetoric rather than addressing the legal issues at hand,” she wrote. “Not only is that focus unresponsive and unhelpful to the court, but it is also unbefitting of experienced defense counsel and undermining of the judicial proceedings in this case.” Read more

1. Israeli Forces Redeploy to Northern Gaza to Quell Hamas Resurgence - Algemeiner
JNS.org – The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday that Israeli forces had encircled Jabaliya in northern Gaza ahead of an operation there to prevent Hamas from reestablishing itself there.
The army said that soldiers from the 162nd Division were redeployed to the Jabaliya area overnight Saturday after being stationed along the Philadelphi Corridor separating Gaza from Egypt’s Sinai.
Troops from the 401st and 460th brigades had encircled the area and were continuing to operate there on Sunday, according to the IDF. They were assisted by the Israeli Air Force before and during the ground operation, directed by the 215th Brigade. Among the targets hit were weapons storage facilities, underground infrastructure, terrorist cells and additional military sites. (Read more)

The Israel Defense Forces continued its campaign to degrade Hezbollah in Lebanon on Saturday as it targeted command centers, weapons caches, tunnels and more, and as the military said it believed it had killed at least 440 Hezbollah operatives since the start of ground operations on Monday.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said in a statement that Israel “must continue exerting pressure on Hezbollah and creating additional and lasting damage to the enemy. Without relief and without allowing a respite for the organization.”
The army said on Saturday said it had struck Hezbollah operatives overnight in a command center embedded in a mosque in southern Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil, located within the Martyr Salah Ghandour Hospital compound. (Read more)

Israel’s Mission to the UN will hold a memorial event at the UN on Monday, to mark the anniversary of the October 7th massacre.
The event will be attended by Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, US Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, ambassadors from all over world, as well as released hostages and families of hostages.

5. Gallant heads to US as Washington weighs in IDF strike on Iran - Jerusalem Post
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is set to visit Washington on Tuesday as the United States seeks to weigh in on the scope of Israel’s anticipated retaliatory strike against Iran.
“Whoever thinks that a mere attempt to harm us will deter us from taking action, should take a look at [our achievements] in Gaza and Beirut,” Gallant said Sunday, less than a week after Iran attacked Israel with ballistic missiles.

1. Bureaucrat Allegedly Threatens To Arrest Helicopter Pilot For Flying Unauthorized Rescue Flights In North Carolina- Daily Caller
A fire official allegedly threatened to arrest a South Carolina helicopter pilot who flew to Lake Lure, North Carolina, on Saturday morning to help rescue stranded Hurricane Helene victims, according to a report.
Jordan Seidhom and his son, Landon, were rescuing stranded Hurricane Helene victims in their private aircraft after the storm left much of Western North Carolina decimated, according to Queen City News. Despite previous successful rescues a day prior, and receiving approval from other local officials and volunteer firefighters, one official interrupted Seidhom’s efforts Sunday, and threatened to arrest him if he continued his operation, the outlet reported.
The pair reportedly rescued four individuals Saturday before spending the night in recliners at a local airport’s pilot lounge. They were determined to continue their recuse efforts and help a stranded couple they saw from the helicopter Sunday morning, however the plan took a turn for the worse, according to the outlet. 2. London Hands Over Important U.S. Military Base to China Ally - Breitbart
Britain’s left-wing government announced a plan on Thursday to surrender sovereignty of a British Overseas Territory in the Indian Ocean that has hosted an important joint U.S.-UK military base and listening post for the past 50 years.
The United Kingdom is giving the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, from whom it bought the archipelago in the 1960s. The announcement is the latest development in years of sovereignty claims by Mauritius, now drifting into China’s sphere of influence, which until recently were not even recognised as legitimate by the UK or its allies.
Just last week, President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun barracked the United Kingdom at the United Nations General Assembly, saying: “We urge the United Kingdom to conclude expeditiously an agreement.” Read more

3. Firefighters Union Snubs Kamala Harris with Non-Endorsement After JD Vance Speech at Convention- Breitbart
The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) has snubbed the Harris-Walz ticket with a non-endorsement — news which comes after Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) spoke at their event in August.
IAFF President Edward Kelly made the announcement on Thursday following an executive board meeting, where the determination was made.
“Today, the IAFF Executive Board, by a margin of 1.2 percent, voted to not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election,” he announced, noting that IAFF took “unprecedented steps to hear out members’ views on the candidates and the policy issues that matter most to them” over the last year.
“As we have over our 106-year history, the IAFF will continue its work to improve the lives of firefighters and their families,” Kelly continued, contending that the Executive Board determined that “we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder.”
“This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity,” he continued, encouraging members to get out and “make their voices heard in the upcoming election.” Read more

4. Report: ‘Sinicization’ Policies in China See Crosses Removed from Churches, Mass Arrests, and Genocide- The Washington Stand
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is attempting to remake religious belief in its own image, according to a new report. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) published a report last week addressing the “sinicization of religion” policy enforced by the CCP, which includes mass arrests and the removal of religious imagery from churches.
“Sinicization, or the complete subordination of religious groups to the CCP’s political agenda and Marxist vision for religion, has become the core driving principle of the government’s management of religious affairs,” the report states. “Through regulations and state-controlled religious organizations, authorities incorporate CCP ideology into every facet of religious life for Buddhists, Catholic and Protestant Christians, Muslims, and Taoists. They also forcibly eradicate religious elements considered contradictory to the CCP’s political and policy agenda with ultranationalist overtones.”
“Sinicization is a political indoctrination process that embeds the CCP and its political ideology into every aspect of religious life, from the religious beliefs themselves to the physical structure of places of worship,” the report explains. It continues, “The goal of sinicization is to turn religious adherents and institutions into perfect vessels of the CCP, root out all perceived non-CCP influences — which the government often disparages as ‘foreign’ — and subdue ethnic minority communities through forced assimilation.”

5. Biden-Harris Admin Accused Of Deceiving America On Its Way To Freezing Gas Exports - Daily Caller
The Biden-Harris administration may have based its decision to freeze certain liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects upon a major act of deception, according to a government watchdog group.
The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the pause on new and pending approvals for certain LNG export terminals in January, stating that it must conduct a review of potential environmental, economic and security impacts of LNG exports to ensure that approving new capacity is still in the public interest. An ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) legal battle between the agency and an independent group called Government Accountability and Oversight (GAO) reveals that the administration may have actually conducted — or started to conduct — such a review in 2023 before effectively burying it because it may have been producing politically inconvenient conclusions, according to GAO.
If GAO is correct, the Biden-Harris administration essentially deceived the public in an election year to institute a policy that undermines American geopolitical interests, chills investment in domestic energy projects and greatly pleases the well-funded environmentalist lobby which is spending big to help Democrats in this election cycle. Israel should attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said during a campaign rally in North Carolina on Friday.
“That’s the first thing you want to hit. The answer should be: Hit the nuclear first, worry about the rest later,” said the former president in response to President Joe Biden’s statement on Wednesday that he does not support striking Iran’s nuclear facilities.
These remarks came after a senior U.S. State Department official told CNN that Israel had not provided any guarantees that a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, in response to the Iranian missile attacks on Israel, was off the table.
“We hope and expect to see some wisdom as well as strength,” said the official regarding the possibility of an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear sites, adding, “but as you know, no guarantees.”

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk implored Trump supporters to vote at Saturday’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, saying, “This will be the last election” if they do not.
After Trump invited him on stage to speak, Musk declared that Trump must win the election to “preserve the Constitution” and “democracy” before calling on those at the rally and watching around the country to register to vote.
“This is a must-win situation. Must win. So I have one ask for everyone in the audience, everyone who watches this video, everyone on the live stream. It’s this one request. It’s very important: Register to vote,” Musk said, adding folks should ensure others they know are registered to vote as well.

'Extreme impacts': Milton to become major hurricane, barrel ashore near Tampa Bay midweek

A state of emergency has been declared in Florida ahead of Milton, which is forecast to plow into the western peninsula on Wednesday as a major hurricane, packing wind gusts up to 140 mph and 15 feet of storm surge. As the extreme scope of Helene’s damage has become clearer in the days since the storm, AccuWeather is estimating total costs from the hurricane to exceed the GDP of the country of Hungary.
Just days after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene, another significant tropical threat to the U.S. is lurking in the Gulf of Mexico. AccuWeather hurricane experts are warning that Hurricane Milton will strengthen into a major hurricane and plow ashore in the west-central Florida peninsula later this week.
Impacts ranging from a devastating storm surge to major flooding from rain, damaging wind gusts, pounding surf and tornadoes are expected in Florida as Milton moves through during the middle of the week. Because of the risk, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency and is urging that preparations to protect life and property should begin immediately.
“This is an unusual and extremely concerning forecast track for a hurricane approaching the Tampa Bay area,” warned AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter. “Milton could rapidly intensify into a major hurricane with extreme impacts. A dangerous, damaging and disruptive situation will unfold in Florida this week as Tropical Storm Milton is forecast to evolve into a major hurricane and deliver flooding downpours.
Even as Hurricane Helene was pressing toward the Florida coast, AccuWeather's team of expert meteorologists had been monitoring part of the Gulf of Mexico for yet another round of tropical trouble. On Saturday afternoon, Tropical Storm Milton formed, just hours after becoming a tropical depression, and it was expected to intensify and strike the Florida Peninsula this week as a major hurricane, with torrential rain, wind and the likelihood of flooding.
Thunderstorms have been persistently erupting in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico for the past few days. AccuWeather began to refer to the system as a tropical rainstorm late in the week to raise public awareness of the risk to lives and property and to assist in planning and preparation.
As Milton continues to churn over the warm Gulf waters over the next several days, it is expected to strengthen into a major, Category 3 hurricane (on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale) before making landfall near Tampa Bay, Florida, on Wednesday. Read More
