Xi Jinping Expands His Power, Elevating Loyalists, Forcing Out Moderates
Something Big Is Happening in China:

High-Ranking Party Member Next to Xi Is Seized and Led Away on Live TV

Former Chinese leader Hu Jintao was escorted from the closing session of the congress, appearing uncertain of what was going on. Hu, 79, who stepped down as party leader 10 years ago, appeared confused and reluctant to go, according to the Guardian. He was approached in his seat by a party official, who then pulled the older man to his feet as Hu appeared to resist.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping firmly held down notes of his that Hu had reached for, as most of the rest of the leaders ignored him.The incident took place after foreign journalists were allowed to video the congress, ensuring Hu’s departure would be highly public.

China’s Xinhua News Agency later said Hu “was not feeling well during the session, his staff, for his health, accompanied him to a room next to the meeting venue for a rest. Now, he is much better,” according to The Washington Post. (Western Journal) Read more.

- Oh Holy King, we pray for the church of Jesus Christ in China to grow strong and secure in You, despite attempts to crush them, in Jesus name.  May Xi Jinping be brought under Your authority, Almighty God, because of the prayers and cries of the church.  We call for a complete stop to the aggressive power-grab of control over the entire country and his plans to conquer other sovereign nations, in Jesus name.  We see him making very strong and public moves to remove anyone that may oppose him or stand in the way, so Holy King, we turn to You Father, to send those who can successfully stand in the way of such provocative plans.  Amen.

- "'But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell.  And great was its fall.'"  (Matthew 7:26-27)

UN Commission: Israeli ‘occupation’ is illegal

The U.N. Human Rights Council’s open-ended Commission of Inquiry (COI) into Israel released its first report to the General Assembly on Thursday, deeming the Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria illegal under international law.

The report found what it called the “occupation” to be illegal “due to its permanence and the Israeli Government’s de-facto annexation policies,” according to a statement released along with the document.

“Recent statements by the Secretary-General and numerous member States have clearly indicated that any attempt at unilateral annexation of a State’s territory by another State is a violation of international law and is null and void; 143 member States including Israel last week voted in favor of a General Assembly resolution reaffirming this,” stated Navi Pillay, chair of the commission. Prayer - Abba, we say NO to this decree, to this proclamation from the UN. This is the biblical heartland of Israel, known as Shomron (Samaria) and Judea. This is where Joseph's bones lie!  Abba, we ask that in Heaven's court room, you would issue a decree, a judgment that countermands this!  Abba, we pray that there would be a strong international legal response to PUSH BACK on this decree!

Scripture: Then He said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.” Genesis 15:7

CEO Warns Biden Put US in a ‘Very Precarious Position’ After More Oil Is Released

An oil CEO said the White House put the United States in a “very precarious position” after another significant release of oil from U.S. reserves.

After President Biden announced an additional 15 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) would be released to combat rising gas prices just weeks before the midterm elections, one American oil industry leader is now calling it the “strategic political reserve.”

“This is a very precarious position we’re in today at a time of dramatic geopolitical upheaval,” American Petroleum Institute president and CEO Mike Sommers told Fox News on Thursday. “We need to have that SPR in place and at the right levels dealing with the current geopolitical situation we’re in today.”

In the coming months, the United States could again see record-high gas prices, he warned. (Read more)

- Lord God Almighty in Heaven, we come before You this morning on bended knee,
asking for mercy in time of need. We ask that You would move upon the heart of Joe Biden in these perilous times, causing him to change directions and cease wasting our precious SPR. Help us, O Lord we pray, amen and amen!

rivers of water;
He turns it wherever He wishes."

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. ‘Lions’ Den’ Terrorist Blown Up in Shechem - Jewish Press

Terrorist Tamer Kilani, 33, a known security criminal and one of the leaders of the Aren Al-Aswad (Lions’ Den), was killed at dawn on Sunday when an explosive device blew up a motorcycle in the old city of Shechem. The IDF has not claimed responsibility for the assassination.

In a statement issued by the Lions’ Den, Kilani was described as one of the group’s fiercest fighters, who “was martyred by the explosion of a sticky TNT device, in the same way as the assassination of the two other martyrs, Al-Nani Jawabra and Bassem Abu Sariya.

The motorcycle was parked in one of the alleys of the old city of Shechem and was detonated when Kilani passed by. (Read more)

2. Top Lions' Den Palestinian terrorist killed in Nablus explosion, Israel blamed - Jerusalem Post

Palestinians accused Israel of assassinating a senior member of the Lions’ Den terrorist group in Nablus with an explosive device placed on a motorcycle on early Sunday.

Though initial reports said Tamer al-Kilani was killed while preparing an explosive device, the Lions’ Den later said the explosion was caused by a bomb placed on his motorcycle by a “collaborator.”

The group claimed it would reveal details about what it called an “assassination” and warned that there would be a response. (Read more)

3. Israel’s Labor leader: West Bank Won’t Be Part of Israel - Algemeiner

i24 News – During an audience exchange at Channel 12 on Saturday, the head of Israel’s center-left Labor party said it’s a “shame” to invest in West Bank transportation, as the area won’t be a part of Israel in the future.

Transportation Minister Merav Michaeliwas asked why she “froze all the transportation planning” in the West Bank, with the minister responding, “I didn’t stop anything that was already in progress.”

“I didn’t release new things, that’s true. Because I think it’s a shame to invest in a place that in the end… it won’t be part of the sovereign state of Israel.”

The audience member replied, “But right now, there are residents there. Israeli residents, like you and me, who want to receive service like every other Israeli citizen receives – and there is no reason to deprive them.” (Read all)

4. One anti-Netanyahu party below the threshold would almost certainly hand him victory - Times of Israel

The election campaign finally truly kicked off this week with an increase in intensity, both in terms of campaigning and in media coverage. After a lengthy marathon, we have now entered the all-important sprint to the finish line.

The impact of this change of tempo on the numbers so far, however, is negligible. In seven polls over the past week, the Benjamin Netanyahu-led bloc scored 60 seats five times, causing its average to remain virtually unchanged at 60.2 seats in the 120-member Knesset.

Yet while the numbers haven’t changed much, there is (finally!?) a lot going on in the campaign, and so, in this week’s column, we will scan the political map, analyzing the closing strategies of various parties, and highlighting the key clashes to look for over the next nine days. (Read more)

5. Israeli air force hits targets in Damascus - World Israel News

Israel carried out an airstrike on the Syrian capital of Damascus and its southern suburbs late Friday, in the first such attack in more than a month, state media reported. There were no casualties in the strikes.

The Syrian military said later that several Israeli missiles were fired toward some military positions near Damascus. It said Syrian air defenses shot down most of the missiles, adding that there was only material losses.

Residents in the capital earlier said they heard at least three explosions.

Syrian state TV said Syrian air defenses responded to “an Israeli aggression in the airspace of Damascus and southern areas.”

1. The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne is practicing for war with Russia just miles from Ukraine's border - CBS News

Mihail Kogălniceanu, Romania — The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe for the first time in almost 80 years amid soaring tension between Russia and the American-led NATO military alliance. The light infantry unit, nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles," is trained to deploy on any battlefield in the world within hours, ready to fight.

From the moment Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, his forces have advanced northward from the Crimean Peninsula, a Ukrainian region that Moscow illegally seized control of in 2014. For more than seven months, Russian troops have tried to push along the Black Sea coast into the Kherson region, aiming to capture the key Ukrainian port cities of Mykolaiv and Odesa.

Their goal is to cut off all Ukrainian access to the sea, leaving the country and its military forces landlocked.

That threat, so close to NATO territory in Romania, is why one of America's most elite air assault divisions has been sent in, with some heavy equipment.

"We're ready to defend every inch of NATO soil," Lubas told CBS News. "We bring a unique capability, from our air assault capability… We're a light infantry force, but again, we bring that mobility with us, for our aircraft and air assaults."   (Read more)

- We pray strength to these forces that are practicing for war with Russia. Give them strategies and plans against the enemy.

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come." (Matthew 24:6)

2. Ukraine – Ukraine activates widespread airborne alert after reported large-scale Russian missile strike - msn.com

Ukraine has activated a widespread air alert on Saturday after the Ukrainian Army reported the launching of more than thirty Russian missiles against the capital, Kiev, as well as multiple regions in the west and south of the country, which have seen significant damage to their water and electricity infrastructure.

The Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that Russia has started "a massive attack" at around 07.00, with at least ten Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic aircraft from the Volgodonsk district of the Rostov region, which launched 17 Kh-101 (Kh-555) cruise missiles.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian air force has confirmed the launch of another 16 Kalibr cruise missiles from Russian positions in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian Army has assured that its air defense system has intercepted a total of 18 missiles, five of them aimed at the capital.

The regions hit by the missiles extend from the west to the south of the country, starting from Lviv or Chernivtsi, as well as Volhynia, Rivne, Khmelnitsky, Kirovograd and Odessa. (Read more)

- We pray You send support for Ukraine to stand against the enemy!

3. Iranian hackers claim to have obtained files of Iran's 'dirty nuclear projects' - Jerusalem Post

Iranian hacker group "Black Reward" announced over the weekend that it had successfully hacked the internal email system of Iran’s Nuclear Power Production and Development Company and that it was releasing 50GB of files to the web.

"We will publish the download links respectively in the next few hours after uploading the information in the online file sharing service anonymously "namely anonfiles," the group wrote on their Instagram channel.

The files include "Raw version and backups related to Iran Atomic Energy Production and Development Company," "Version cleaned and visible in the browser along with about 100 thousand email messages" and "separated and sorted version of documents and information."

The group advised that in order to keep  personal devices safe, it is preferably to check the attached and downloaded documents in a safe and offline Sandbox/VM. (Read more)

4. Xi Jinping Secures Third Term As Chinese Communist Party Leader - Daily Caller

Chinese leader Xi Jinping secured a third term as general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Sunday in Beijing, Chinese state-run media reported.

Xi was “elected” during the first plenary session on the last day of the 20th National Party Congress, according to state-run Xinhua News. The autocrat originally came to power during the 18th Party Congress in 2012 and was reelected during the 19th Party Congress in 2017.

China watchdog Gordon G. Chang took to Twitter and described the new roster of the CCP’s core leadership as representing a clear consolidation of Xi’s power.

“Xi Jinping, who will now not have to deal with opposing views, is going to take China into an even darker era,” Chang tweeted. (Read more)

- We pray for the Chinese people to be delivered from their evil leaders. We pray for a revival among the people and may they prosper in spite of the leaders.

5. Dow climbs more than 700 points on Friday as Wall Street clinches its best week since June - CNBC.com

Stocks closed broadly higher on Friday, with the Dow gaining more than 700 points. The moves on Friday gave the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite their best week since June.

“I think at the end of last week market’s got a little bit oversold technically. And as we’ve seen so many times in the past, when things get negative enough it becomes some sort of a contrarian indicator for a bounce,” said Randy Frederick, managing director of trading and derivatives at the Schwab Center for Financial Research.

“But like every other bounce we’ve had, it hasn’t been very well sustained. ... A bounce today doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to continue into next week. If it does, I suspect it won’t be more than a day or two,” Frederick added. (Read more)

6.  A whopping half of all states send troops to border at Biden's request - Washington Examiner

Military troops from 25 states and U.S. territories across the nation have deployed to the southern border

The Biden administration has chosen to keep several thousand soldiers on the U.S.-Mexico border amid the worst illegal immigration crisis in national history.

The decision by Washington to continue troop deployments, even at lower levels than during the Trump administration, indicates the White House is aware of the crisis at hand. Still, a show of force at the border with 2,500 troops is unlikely to satisfy Republicans who believe President Joe Biden is himself the cause of the surge.

Troops deployed over the past several weeks will remain in the four southern border states for 400 days, returning home around Thanksgiving next year. On the border, they will see firsthand what federal agents have experienced — more illegal immigrants arrested in Biden’s first 20 months in office than in former President Barack Obama’s entire two terms. (Read more)

- Thank You that these troops are deployed to the border. We pray more will come and stabilize the border.

8. Wildfire smoke chokes U.S. Northwest, residents don masks - Reuters

SEATTLE, Wash., Oct 20 (Reuters) - Wildfires in Oregon and Washington are blanketing much of America's Pacific Northwest with smoke, choking residents in Seattle, Portland and other parts of the two states with the worst air in the United States, according to government data.

In the Seattle area, home to some 4 million people, the sky was brown and the air was difficult to breathe on Thursday. When the sun peeked through it was orange.

"It's been making me dizzy," said Joe Dinkins, who was waiting for a friend along the Elliott Bay waterfront in downtown Seattle Thursday. "I usually walk around a lot, but I've been having to cut down my exercising and take the bus instead."

The 10 U.S. locations with the worst air quality on Thursday were all in Washington or Oregon. (Read more)

- We pray an end to the wildfires in Oregon and Washington. We pray for clean air to manifest over these cities to help the citizens as they go about their days.

DeSantis: No mandatory COVID jabs for kids despite CDC vote to add shots to immunization schedule

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis speaks during a press conference to update information about the on ongoing efforts to help people after hurricane Ian passed through the area on October 4, 2022 in Cape Coral, Florida.

DeSantis: No mandatory COVID jabs for kids despite CDC vote to add shots to immunization schedule

(LifeSiteNews) — Florida’s firebrand Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is maintaining his reputation for resisting totalitarian COVID-19 mandates by pledging that school children in his state won’t be required to get coronavirus jabs despite the CDC’s vote to add the shots to its childhood immunization schedule.

The decision comes as a CDC committee on Thursday unanimously voted to greenlight the addition of the experimental mRNA COVID shots to the recommended childhood immunization schedule. The upshot of the vote is that many schools will add COVID shots to their required vaccinations, making the jabs functionally mandatory for many children.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is expected to sign off on the decision.

Despite the CDC’s moves, however, DeSantis on Thursday declared that no Florida schoolkids will be forced to get the jab.

“As long as I’m around, as long as I’m kicking and screaming, there will be no COVID shot mandate for your kids,” Gov. DeSantis told parents. (Read more)

- Lord we thank You for Governor DeSantis' willingness to stand boldly in protecting the children of the State of Florida. May other Governors follow his lead to defy mandates of covid shots being forced upon the innocent. We stand in the gap asking for Your perfect Will and holy protection over future generations, that they may bring the Lord Glory through their lives. In Jesus name-Amen

- ""Keep me safe, LORD, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet." (Psalm 140:4)

Air Force B-1B bombers just rolled up in Guam in a message to US adversaries
America’s premier long-range heavy bombers are back in Guam, and they mean business

Air Force B-1B Lancer bombers from the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota arrived at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam on Thursday as part of a mission with the core goal of “deterring potential adversaries and challenging their decision calculus,” the service announced in a press release.

The arrival of the undisclosed number of Lancers marks the second rotation to Guam this year following a Bomber Task Force (BTF) mission in June that saw four aircraft integrate with Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Royal Australian Air Force for multilateral training operations.

The new rotation will see the Lancers join “with more Allies” for several additional Indo-Pacific training missions to “provide key assurances and cooperation with joint and partner Allies in the region,” as 37th Bomb Squadron operations director Lt. Col. Daniel Mount put it in a statement.

Indeed, the BTF mission to Guam “demonstrates continued U.S. commitment to the Pacific,” said 28th Bomb Wing commander Col. Joseph Sheffield. “Not only does it provide our B-1 aircrew invaluable training opportunities with important Allies and partners, but it also signals our nation’s unwavering support to them.” (Read more)

- Thank You for this action to bring the Air Force Bombers to this region to show support for our allies, and send a message to our adversaries.

Hubble Views a Turbulent Stellar Nursery

The lives of newborn stars are tempestuous, as this image of the Herbig-Haro objects HH 1 and HH 2 from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope depicts. Both objects are in the constellation Orion and lie around 1,250 light-years from Earth. HH 1 is the luminous cloud above the bright star in the upper right of this image, and HH 2 is the cloud in the bottom left. While both Herbig-Haro objects are visible, the young star system responsible for their creation is lurking out of sight, swaddled in the thick clouds of dust at the center of this image. However, an outflow of gas from one of these stars is streaming out from the central dark cloud and is visible as a bright jet. Astronomers once thought the bright star between that jet and the HH 1 cloud was the source of these jets, but it is an unrelated double star that formed nearby.

Herbig-Haro objects are glowing clumps found around some newborn stars. They form when jets of gas thrown outwards from these young stars collide with surrounding gas and dust at incredibly high speeds. In 2002, Hubble observations revealed that parts of HH 1 are moving at more than 248 miles (400 kilometers) per second!

Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 captured this turbulent stellar nursery using 11 different filters at infrared, visible, and ultraviolet wavelengths. Each of these filters is sensitive to just a small slice of the electromagnetic spectrum, and they allow astronomers to pinpoint interesting processes that emit light at specific wavelengths. The Good News Corner
Annual 'Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem Day' Inspires Christians, Jews
JERUSALEM, Israel – Earlier this month, Christians and Jews worldwide joined together in Israel’s capital to follow a biblical command: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” As the gathering opened to cheers and the sound of the Shofar, the celebration kicked off the annual International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which began 18 years ago. Bishop Robert Stearns of Eagles Wings Ministries helped launch the effort in 2004. He says the purpose is “to fulfill the mandate of Psalm 122:6 (which is) ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,’ recognizing that peace in Jerusalem signifies peace for the world,” he said. “So, the day of prayer gathers and empowers Christians around the world to stand in alliance with that promise of God.”

The day brings Christians and Jews together, and Josh Reinstein of Israel’s Knesset Christian Allies Caucus calls it a very important day on the calendar. “It codifies the blessing and command to pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” Reinstein said.  “What Eagles Wings has done by adding another holiday into the Christian calendar is really unbelievable and here in Jerusalem we celebrate it together with our Christian brothers.” Stearns observed that a younger generation is catching the vision of the importance of prayer for the city the Lord calls His “footstool.”  Chris Granzow with the Christian Agency for Israel is part of that generation. He said, “Being a younger man myself, I’m just excited to inspire others to come and see what is happening here in Israel, to not only come and view it but take an active role in it.”

Jerusalem Prayer leader Rick Ridings stressed that it’s important for the Church as a body to wake up to the fact that God commands in scripture to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, an assignment not given to any other city.  “It’s always intense here, but right now with the threats, very existential threats coming from Iran, and the relationships that seem to be developing between Iran and Russia, there’s a real serious need for prayer for the peace of Jerusalem and of Israel,” Ridings said. He also observed that the prayer for Jerusalem sends a strong message to the Jewish people that they are not alone. (CBN) Read More

Words:  Fanny Crosby
Music:  Chester Allen

Scripture: I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Psalm 146:2

Lyrics:
Praise Him, praise Him—
Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim.
Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long:
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of Zion,
Praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song.

Praise Him, praise Him—
Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died;
He our rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him, hail Him, Jesus the Crucified.
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, He is triumphant now.

Praise Him, praise Him—
Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
Heav’nly portals loud with hosannas ring,
Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever.
Crown Him! Crown Him—
Prophet, and Priest, and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful.
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.
