Operation Blessing Helps Asheville Artists Get Back On Their Feet: 'A Labor of Love'
|

The River Arts District in Asheville, North Carolina, was once a thriving part of the city but now stands desolate. Floodwaters from Hurricane Helene ripped through the area, where some 300 artists displayed their work in 26 galleries. Mark Oliver's Foundation Woodworks is one of them. "It's gone," he said, "It's just been home." Twenty woodworkers created and sold their pieces at Foundation Woodworks, which served as both a studio to create and a gallery to showcase their work and sell it. "It's amazing to tell somebody, 'That bowl in the front was made in the back. The box in the front was made in the back. You want to meet the maker? They're here,'" Oliver said. Now those artisans are out of work. However, Operation Blessing is helping those woodworkers get back on the job, by setting up a temporary space where they can make and sell their goods while their permanent studio and gallery are rebuilt.
Operation Blessing Chief Executive Officer Drew Friedrich told CBN News an Asheville winery was destroyed in the flood, yet a very large, clean, concrete slab remains where the winery stood. Operation Blessing is working with the owner and others to quickly set up temporary structures on the surface resembling the original Foundation Woodworks. "It really will give us a chance to help," Friedrich said, "And for them to earn an income, help those families get back to some sense of normalcy, and that's what we're aiming to do." The 8,000-square-foot workspace is large enough for all 20 workers to soon resume their chosen profession. "We're going to potentially help them get set up online so they can be doing some e-commerce, so they can get those pieces they're creating out to the world for sale that way," Friedrich added. Meanwhile, Operation Blessing workers continue to search through the rubble up and down Asheville's River Arts District for items that can be salvaged. When they find such objects, such as delicate earrings and other jewelry, wooden bowls, hand-carved tables, and paintings caked with mud, they carefully clean them for return to the artist who made them. Actor Zachary Levi encouraged the "closeted conservatives" in Hollywood to come out publicly after his endorsement of former President Trump.
During an Instagram Live video Sunday, the 44-year-old "Shazam" star addressed "The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg’s claim that Hollywood was a "right-leaning town" where "very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican."
Levi disagreed with her comments, pointing out that she was only able to name actors Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples out of the thousands working in Hollywood today. He added actors like them seem to only come out as Republican "at a certain level of your career to get away with it."
"And what that means is there’s plenty — and by the way, they have sent me lots of messages — plenty of people in my industry in Hollywood that are terrified to publicly say that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way," Levi said. "That’s why you don’t see them.
... "In a perfect world, in whatever that would look like, perhaps I would have voted for Bobby," Levi said. "But we don't live in a perfect world. In fact, we live in a very broken one. Trump Supports Congress Returning From Recess to Pass Hurricane Relief

Former President Donald Trump told members of the press during a visit to Asheville, North Carolina, that he was in favor of Congress returning from their recess early to pass additional relief for the victims of Hurricane Helene.
“Now they’re saying, ‘Can we have a special vote? Let’s have a special session,’” he said of members of Congress on Oct. 21. “I’m in favor of that. But somebody has to get back to why did they spend hundreds of millions of dollars on something that they were not supposed to be spending.”
The former president then repeated allegations that the agency was spending funds on taking in illegal immigrants. The Biden administration and FEMA have denied this, with the agency stating on its website that, “No money is being diverted from disaster response needs.”
The possibility of Congress being called upon to supplement FEMA’s disaster relief has been up in the air since Hurricane Helene made landfall in late September.

Israeli airstrikes targeted Hezbollah financial sites across Lebanon overnight Sunday, including in Beirut.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, dozens of facilities and sites used by the Iranian proxy to fund its terrorist activities against the Jewish state were attacked.
“These funds, which Hezbollah used for terror activities, were stored by the Al-Qard al-Hassan Association, which directly funds Hezbollah’s terror activities, including the purchase of weapons and payments to operatives in Hezbollah’s military wing,” the IDF said.
“The Hezbollah terrorist organization stores billions of dollars in the association’s branches, including money that was directly held under the name of the terrorist organization,” the statement continued.
“We will strike a large number of targets in the coming hours, and additional targets later tonight,” IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said on Sunday, emphasizing that in the coming days the IDF would reveal how Iran funds Hezbollah’s terror activities via civilian institutions, associations and organizations. A replica of the Ark of the Covenant, painstakingly constructed, its creators say, to the Torah specifications of the sacred vessel that was the First Temple’s central fixture, was displayed in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, during the intermediate days of the Sukkot holiday.
The ark described in the Torah, which housed the Ten Commandments tablets among other holy objects, was hidden after the destruction of the First Temple, per rabbinic tradition. At Jerusalem’s King David Hotel, the replica shown in the hotel’s sukkah contained a refurbished Torah scroll, which survived the Holocaust, from Thessaloniki, Greece.
Several members of the Knesset and Israeli activists were on hand at the hotel for an event and festive meal—a stop on the replica’s journey retracing the steps of the biblical prototype.
Earlier in the day, it was fitted with the Greek Torah at Jerusalem’s City of David. It was later displayed—with some difficulty and via a Schweppes pallet jack—on a rooftop overlooking the Western Wall plaza and Temple Mount.
The replica ark stopped in Jericho, the first Israeli city inhabited by Jews after the biblical Exodus from Egypt, and in Shiloh, the site that served as the Jewish capital for 369 years after Jews settled in Israel and the location of the Tabernacle before the building of the First Temple. 1. Several wounded as Hezbollah rockets pummel northern Israel, Tel Aviv - JNS
Several people were wounded, including one seriously, when a Hezbollah terrorist rocket hit Kibbutz Neot Mordechai in the Galilee panhandle on Tuesday afternoon.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that some 30 projectiles were launched at the Galilee from Southern Lebanon in Hezbollah’s latest terrorist assault on northern Israel, some of which were intercepted.
Ziv Medical Center in Safed announced that two moderately wounded victims of the attack on Neot Mordechai were being treated in its trauma room. The victims were said to be conscious as they were being treated. (Read more)

Hezbollah on Tuesday claimed sole responsibility for a drone attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home, warning another strike against the premier was coming, and said there would be no negotiations for a ceasefire while fighting continued with Israel.
The Iran-backed terrorist organization in Lebanon took “full, complete, and exclusive responsibility” for targeting Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea on Saturday, Hezbollah media chief Mohammed Afif told a press conference in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
“If we did not reach you this time, then we will reach you the next time. Between us lie the days, nights, and the battlefield,” the Hezbollah spokesman added. (Read more)

3. IDF confirms: Body of Nasrallah's successor found in Beirut - Israel National News
The IDF announced on Tuesday evening that Hashem Safieddine, the designated successor of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, has been eliminated.
The elimination took place about three weeks ago. In the same strike, the head of Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters Ali Hussein Hazima was also eliminated, along with other commanders in Hezbollah.
The IAF conducted a precise, intelligence-based strike on Hezbollah's main intelligence headquarters, deliberately located underground beneath the civilian population in the Dahieh suburb of Beirut, a key Hezbollah stronghold. (Read more)

4. Israel Said to Outline to US Demands for Ending Lebanon Military Operations - Algemeiner
Israel has shared a document with the US outlining its conditions to end Israel’s ongoing military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to a new report.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented the document to the White House last week ahead of US Special Envoy Amos Hochstein’s visit to Beirut, Lebanon on Monday, Axios reported. The papers were produced after intensive discussions between Ron Dermer, the Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs, and the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The document reportedly explains that the Jewish state is open to a diplomatic resolution and the return of displaced Lebanese civilians under specific conditions.
According to Axios, Israel is demanding that the IDF be allowed to engage in “active enforcement” to prevent Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist organization that wields significant influence in Lebanon, from rebuilding its military infrastructure near Israel’s northern border to attack the Jewish state. 5. 7 arrested in Iran plot to assassinate Israeli nuclear scientist, mayor - Israel Hayom
A new espionage case has come to light today (Tuesday), involving seven east Jerusalem residents who were arrested in September. The suspects are accused of planning serious attacks, including assassinations targeting a senior nuclear scientist and a mayor in central Israel. According to investigators, the cell was promised approximately $55,000 for the assassinations.
The primary suspect, a 23-year-old from Beit Safafa, confessed during interrogation to establishing contact with an Iranian operative, acknowledging he was working with an enemy state. He admitted to receiving funds from the Iranians and passing crucial information to the cell while recruiting relatives for various missions. According to his testimony, his motives were nationalistic, and he sought to harm the state. He also stated that his connection with the Iranian operative made him feel empowered.
During searches of the suspects' homes, police seized approximately $14,000, a counterfeit police license plate, and numerous credit cards. (Read more)

1. Texas AG opens investigation into 'suspicious donations' made to Harris campaign through Democratic group - Fox News
With Election Day only 15 days away, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is sounding the alarm about a popular progressive fundraising platform that he says is interfering in the presidential election. "Our investigation into ActBlue has uncovered facts indicating that bad actors can illegally interfere in American elections by disguising political donations," Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton wrote in a statement on X.
"It is imperative that the FEC close off the avenues we have identified by which foreign contributions or contributions in excess of legal limits could be unlawfully funneled to political campaigns, bypassing campaign finance regulations and compromising our electoral system," he continued.
In December 2023, Paxton opened an investigation into ActBlue to determine whether the platform’s operations were compliant with all applicable laws. Then in August 2024, Paxton revealed that an investigation into ActBlue determined the group began requiring donors using credit cards to provide "CVV" codes, a common security measure. However, Paxton said it appeared that "straw donations" were systematically being made using false identities, through untraceable payment methods. (Read more)

2. ‘Break Up Family Relationships’: Biden-Harris Admin Pushes Judges To Bring Gender Ideology Into The Courtroom - The Daily Caller
Parents increasingly find family court judges, who make life-changing decisions involving children, have fully bought into the agenda pushed by Biden-Harris administration-backed transgender activists.
State courts have for years independently hosted transgender activist groups to lecture judges on appropriate pronoun usage and the importance of “affirming” a child’s perceived identity. But now the federal government is on board: In 2023, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a $1 million grant to integrate gender ideology into juvenile justice and child welfare systems nationwide.
The grant, awarded to the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), established a resource center to train judges, child welfare workers and other professionals involved with the juvenile justice system on sexuality and gender identity. Dr. Ben Carson, who served as the Housing and Urban Development Secretary for the entire four years of the Trump administration, from 2017 to 2021, spoke at a faith leaders event with former President Donald Trump in Concord, North Carolina Monday evening.
“This election is not about Democrats and Republicans…it’s about whether we are a secular nation, or, are we ONE NATION UNDER GOD,” Carson warned. He recalled the words of Benjamin Franklin, who said we have a Republic “if you can keep it.”

4. Biden extends student loan payment pause for millions of borrowers - DML News
Federal student loan payments for some 8 million borrowers will remain on pause for six months or longer, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Education said. The development on Monday comes as the Biden administration has been dragged into a slew of legal battles waged by Republicans over its recent student loan relief efforts.
The borrowers who are excused from their monthly payments are those enrolled in the Biden administration’s new SAVE plan. SAVE enrollees will be placed in an interest-free general forbearance, the Education Department spokesperson said.
A federal court issued an injunction earlier this year preventing the department from implementing parts of the Saving on a Valuable Education plan. The agency had billed SAVE as the most affordable repayment plan in history, and many people were expected to see their monthly bills cut in half. (Read more)

We pray for these student loans to be given back to the borrowers who can go get their jobs and pay their debts, just like everyone before them – it's the American way. 5. Illegal immigrants arrested in Florida for sex trafficking 15-year-old runaway girl from NYC - Fox News
Two illegal immigrants have been arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, in connection to the sex trafficking of a 15-year-old girl from New York City, authorities said Monday. Detectives began working the case after receiving an anonymous tip about a teen runaway, missing since Sept. 12, who was believed to be the victim of a sex trafficking operation, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said during a news conference.
Investigators used commercial sex ads to track down the minor and begin communication as a ruse to recover the minor. Detectives found the minor at a Motel 6 in Riviera Beach. She indicated that two individuals who both played a role in the sex trafficking were two to three doors down.
Investigators said the victim was recruited in New York City and trafficked down to Florida to perform sex acts for money. Officials said she was forced to perform sex acts at least 10 times. (Read more)

6. Squad member calls for 'radically' changing the Supreme Court: 'SCOTUS reform is on the ballot in November' - Fox News
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., is calling for "radically" altering the U.S. Supreme Court by increasing the number of justices on the bench, and more. "We need to radically reform the broken Supreme Court," the congresswoman declared in social media posts, calling for "expanding the number of Justices," "a binding, enforceable code of ethics," and "imposing term limits."
"SCOTUS reform is on the ballot in November," the lawmaker asserted. While there are currently nine slots on the high court, some lawmakers advocate for increasing the number of seats, a proposal referred to by critics as court packing.
Omar, who took office in 2019 and is currently seeking re-election, has been an outspoken advocate of the policy.
"Expand the court," she tweeted in 2020 after the Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the Supreme Court. Omar and dozens of other Democrats have supported proposed legislation that would add four seats to the Supreme Court, expanding it from nine to 13, but the Judiciary Act of 2023 has not been brought up for a vote. We pray for our Constitution to stand firm and fast in the face of every attack against it and the three co-equal branches of government. Poll-Mania 14 Days Out

Every pollster from here to midnight is trying to predict the presidential race. Depending on who you listen to, Kamala Harris is winning and Donald Trump is losing or the other way around. With two weeks to go before the election, the way to ready polls is not in the win column, but in the trend column AND who is doing the polling. In addition, polling in key electoral vote states is also an indicator of how things will turn out on election night. That is, all things square and even insomuch as there is vote integrity and ballot security. But those things are not square and even given election laws in states that hold the majority of electoral votes and traditionally trend for democrat presidential candidates.
A Rasmussen poll taken October 14-17 of 2,666 likely voters indicated less than three weeks until Election Day, Trump may be taking some voters away from Harris in the race for the White House. The former President Donald Trump held a two-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris. According to Rasmussen Reports, if the election were held today, 49% of Likely US Voters would vote for Trump, while 47% would vote for Harris. Two percent (2%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and two percent (2%) are undecided. The previous survey taken October 13-16 of 2,108 likely voters indicated a dead heat with Harris and Trump tied at 48%These findings are nearly unchanged since last week, with two percent (2%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and two percent (2%) are undecided. 'Most severe': 14 Israelis arrested as spies for Iran, one cell prepared to carry out lethal operations

JERUSALEM – Israel's security services made two separate announcements – on Monday evening and the other on Tuesday morning – that two cells of seven individuals each – one based in the north and the other in an Arab Jerusalem neighborhood – were arrested on suspicion of having spied for Iran.
The initial group of seven – which comprised seven Jewish Israelis who originally hailed from Azerbaijan – and who were arrested in September, although that information was only released Monday, are all residents of Haifa. It is thought the cell may have been in operation for as long as two years, and it is feared they carried out potentially hundreds of tasks at the Islamic Republic's behest.
"This is one of the most severe cases we've ever investigated. There is a real possibility that the main charge will be aiding the enemy in wartime, for which the penalty is death or life imprisonment," said Chief Superintendent Yaron Binyamin, who heads the Lahav 433 serious crimes unit of the Israel Police, according to the Times of Israel.
The group of Azerbaijanis, which comprised both adults and minors aged 16–17, included a soldier who deserted his unit. It is thought they carried out some 600 missions on Iran's behalf. The adult suspects were named as Azis Nisanov, Alexander Sadykov, Vyacheslav Gushchin, Yevgeny Yoffe and Yigal Nissan, while the minors were left unnamed. Nisanov is thought to have originally been contacted by someone in Azerbaijan, who then connected him to a Turkish national known as "Alkhasan."
Apparently desperate for missions on account of their precarious financial condition, the Israelis allegedly interacted with two Iranian agents, who called themselves "Alhan" and "Orhan," with knowledge that the information they passed on could endanger the state.
The list of supposed targets the cell gathered information on is both quite extensive, and also crucial to Israel's efforts to repel the nihilistic and genocidal Islamists that surround its borders. (World Net Daily) Read more here

WWII Submarine Discovered 81 Years After Vanishing on a Secret Mission

The wreck of the HMS 'Trooper' is located at the bottom of the Icarian Sea near Greece.
Since 2000, at least 14 expedition crews have unsuccessfully tried to find the final resting place of the HMS Trooper, but the ill-fated World War II submarine has finally been located. According to researchers, the British vessel resides 830-feet-down at the bottom of the Icarian Sea, near the Greek island of Donoussa—and the wreckage indicates an underwater mine is to blame.
In early October 1943, the HMS Trooper set a course for the Greek island of Kalamos, where its 64 crew members were to deploy three resistance fighters.The submarine then was ordered to patrol the Aegean Sea, a region littered with German naval mines. Although scheduled to dock in Beirut on October 17, the Trooper never arrived, and its crew has remained missing in action ever since.
Recovery crews attempted for years to locate the submarine’s remains based on its final supposed sighting on October 14, 1943. But Kostas Thoctarides, founder and owner of an underwater recovery company Planet Blue, theorized a different scenario: the last known sighting wasn’t the Trooper, but another submarine of the same class.
