Group of 160 Republicans Urge Biden to Fix Supply Chain Crisis Before Considering More Social Spending
|
|
A group of 160 Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to “reevaluate his priorities” and address the supply chain and ports crisis in the United States before considering additional social spending.
The letter was led and signed by Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), the ranking member on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and also signed by lawmakers including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, among others.
McCarthy shared the letter on Twitter on Oct. 21, writing, “Mr. President, it’s time for you to reevaluate your priorities. We must address our supply chain and ports crisis before Congress considers any additional social spending and taxation legislation.”
“As House Republicans, we write because we refuse to stand by and watch as your administration dilutes America’s ability to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, people, and services throughout our transportation network,” the letter reads. (Read more)

Father God, we ask for strength for those who are standing up for all that is good, right and effective in this nation. We have had efficiently running supply chains here and around the world for many decades. Clearly something dramatic has caused this backlog and we ask You Lord to expose it and push it off its foundation. We bind and rebuke every plan to bring our citizens to their knees. Rather, would You release a miraculous breakthrough in the ports' backlog that would result in defeating corruption and overruling desperation, in the name of Jesus.

1. For 1st time under Bennett: 3,000 settler homes to be approved - Israel National News
The Supreme Planning Council of the Civil Administration will convene this coming Wednesday for the first time since the current government's term began and since the beginning of the Biden Administration and will approve 3,144 housing units in Judea and Samaria.
Among the approvals is the outline plan of Mitzpe Dani in the area of the settlement of Ma'ale Mikhmas in the Benjamin region. At the same time, the construction of more than a thousand housing units for Palestinian Arabs in Area C will be approved.
The council was supposed to convene many weeks ago and approve a little over 2,000 housing units, but a strike by Civil Administration employees prevented the meeting. Over the past few months, staff work has been carried to approve another 900 housing units. (Read more)

2. Israel approves plan to let in vaccinated tourists starting November 1 - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and the Health and Tourism ministries approved a plan on Thursday to allow vaccinated and recovered tourists into the country beginning November 1, despite a revelation that at least a handful of cases of the new AY4.2 coronavirus variant have entered Israel over the past few days.
According to the plan, which still must be approved by the government, tourists who have been vaccinated with the Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines within the last six months will be able to enter the country.
Only vaccines that have been recognized by the World Health Organization were approved, which leaves out Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. (Read more)

3. Amid Israeli opposition, US said to propose joint team on consulate reopening - Times of Israel
The US and Israel are reportedly planning to form a joint team tasked with resolving a growing dispute over the Biden administration’s plan to reopen the US consulate in Jerusalem, against the wishes of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s new government.
The joint panel will be led by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Foreign Minister Lapid, along with one or two senior aides from both sides, according to a Wednesday Axios report.
Blinken proposed the idea during a meeting with Lapid in Washington last week, when Biden’s plan to reopen what historically served as the de facto representative mission to the Palestinians was raised. The consulate was shuttered by former US president Trump in 2019 and its staff were folded into the US embassy, moved to the city a year earlier, in what the Palestinians view as a de facto downgrading of their ties with the US. 4. Israel, UAE to launch joint space projects, including Beresheet 2 Moon mission - Times of Israel
Israel and the United Arab Emirates finalized an agreement on Wednesday to collaborate on a number of space projects, including a joint launch of the “Beresheet 2” space mission to the moon, Israel’s second upcoming attempt to land an unmanned spacecraft on the lunar surface by 2024 when the countries expect to plant their flags alongside each other.
The United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) also signed a deal with the Israel Space Agency to enhance cooperation in scientific research, space exploration, and knowledge transfer.
The deal was signed on Wednesday in Dubai by Emirati Minister of State for Advanced Technology and chairwoman of UAESA Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, and Israeli Minister of Science and Technology Orit Farkash-Hacohen. (Read more)

5. RARE BIBLICAL ‘BALM OF GILEAD’ ENGRAVING FOUND ON 2,000-YEAR-OLD SEAL IN JERUSALEM - ISRAEL 365 NEWS
The Israel Antiquities Authority announced on Thursday the discovery in eastern Jerusalem of an ancient amethyst seal bearing the first known depiction of the plant known as “Balm of Gilead.”
The engraving on the 2,000-year-old seal apparently portrays the biblical persimmon plant—not related to the familiar fruit of the same name—used during the Second Temple period as one of the more expensive ingredients for producing incense, perfume, medicines and ointments, according to the IAA.
The plant went by many names, including biblical persimmon, bosem or balsam and Balm of Gilead.
The seal was found during excavations in the Emek Tzurim National Park, along the foundation stones of the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City. (Read more)

1. Manchin: Negotiators to miss Friday target for deal on reconciliation bill - The Hill
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he does not believe negotiators will be able to meet a goal laid out earlier in the week by Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to reach a deal on the framework of the budget reconciliation package by Friday. “This is not going to happen anytime soon, guys,” Manchin told reporters Thursday afternoon.
Manchin, who doesn’t want to spend much more than the $1.5 trillion on the social spending package, said there’s still a massive amount of work to be done. “There’s a lot of work to do, everybody’s working hard, everybody’s communicating, working hard. A lot of meetings going on,” he said.
Asked if the talks will drag past Friday, despite an effort by Schumer to get a framework deal wrapped up this week, Manchin said, “I believe so, yes.” He added that it will take longer than this week to reach a deal but stated, "I believe they’re making good progress. There’s a lot of details. Until you see the text and the fine print, it’s pretty hard to make final decisions, until you actually see,” he said, adding that he wants to make sure “the text matches the intent.” (Read more)

2. California Governor Eyes Expansion, Automation to Ease Port Congestion - Bloomberg
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an order that aims to ease supply-chain bottlenecks for the state’s ports, which are experiencing record backlogs.
The executive order signed Wednesday asks state agencies to find sites that can be used for short-term storage of container cargo. Newsom also urged them to identify “priority freight routes” that could get temporary exemptions from weight restrictions to whisk off more goods.
Trade disruptions from the pandemic, and then a surge in consumer demand for goods as the U.S. economy recovered, have led to snarls all along the supply chain.
At the epicenter of the crisis is the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in southern California, which handle more than a third of all U.S. imports. They’ve both announced plans to start running around-the-clock operations to alleviate congestion that’s led to a record number of cargo ships waiting to dock for days, and in some cases weeks. A shortage of workers, lack of warehouse space and transportation blockages are exacerbating the delays.
Newsom is asking California’s finance department to come up with spending proposals for the January budget to improve port infrastructure, better automate the movement of goods and help develop the workforce. “California’s ports are critical to our local, state and national economies and the state is taking action to support goods movement in the face of global disruptions,” the governor said in a statement. 3. Efforts to keep ports open 24-7 to reduce cargo ship backlog aren’t going to work because insane trucking regulations in Dem-controlled California are keeping trucks off the road – Pandemic News
The U.S. is suffering through one of the worst transportation crises in the country’s history, with hundreds of container ships anchored off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts waiting days on end to get into port to be offloaded.The Biden regime is particularly concerned with getting ports in California back on track because the bulk of the nation’s imports come into facilities in the Golden State. As such, the claimed president, Joe Biden, announced last week a few measures that he thinks will help, like Port of Los Angeles moving to a 24/7 work schedule.
Only, none of these measures are going to work and it’s thanks to the left-wing environmental and regulatory insanity imposed over years by the Democrats who run the place.
“The conventional wisdom from the left is that COVID is the reason that shipping containers are in the waters off California with no stevedores or truckers available to take care of them. The implication is that if people would stop being selfish and take the vaccines, the whole problem would magically vanish. That’s nonsense,” Andrea Widburg writes at the American Thinker.
In fact, the problem is directly related to a pair of laws the Democrat supermajority in the state passed, both having to do with favored issues and constituencies: Climate change hacks and the unions. (Read more)

4. Democrat Senators Propose Sending U.S. Taxpayer Money to "Palestinian" Terrorists - Israel365 News
The Senate Appropriations Committee released its 2022 fiscal year bill this week, which includes $225 million in funding for the Palestinians, mirroring funding passed in the House earlier this year.
According to the State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs bill, the Senate committee is providing $225 million in “development assistance, including for water, sanitation, and other municipal infrastructure projects in the West Bank and Gaza, and $40 million for the Palestinian security assistance program.” This program funds the PA security forces who have been responsible for many terror attacks against Israelis.
“The funds in the bill support a foreign policy underpinned by vigorous diplomatic engagement, strong alliances and partnerships, a commitment to democratic principles, and humanitarian and development assistance that reflect America’s core values,” said Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Del.), chair of the State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Subcommittee.
The proposed funding is part of a larger effort by the Biden administration to resume assistance to the Palestinians after funding was largely severed during the Trump administration. (Read more)

5. Fox Anchor Challenges Democrat Rep. Over Spending Bill: ‘Are You A Capitalist or A Socialist?’ – ResisttheMainstream
Fox News Channel anchor Bill Hemmer asked Democratic Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan if he was a socialist Wednesday during a discussion on President Joe Biden’s spending bill.
In a segment on Fox News, Hemmer asked Pocan why the government should pour trillions of dollars into the economy with the current level of inflation. Pocan responded that the country’s inflation was at a peak and that many Americans were “still hurting.”“But a lot more people can hurt with inflation,” Hemmer said. “You know the trap that comes with that type of economics now. Do you consider yourself a capitalist or a socialist?”

6. Michael Flynn Suggests Biden’s WH is ‘Trying to Turn America into a Communist Nation’, Urges the Public to ‘Take a Stand’ – ResisttheMainstream

7. Pentagon: No Plans to Suspend COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate - The Epoch Times
The Department of Defense doesn’t plan to suspend its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, which is compelling a large portion of the U.S. military to receive a vaccine.
Republicans say the mandate raises serious questions on readiness and morale, with concerns that discharging unvaccinated troops will cripple the armed forces.
“This haphazardly implemented and politically motivated vaccine mandate must be immediately suspended or risk irrevocable damage to our national security,” Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), the ranking Republican member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, wrote in an Oct. 18 letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. (Read more)

8. Sen. Braun Welcomes Chicago Police Officers Refusing Vaccine Mandate to Indiana: ‘You Deserve Respect’ – ResisttheMainstream
Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) told Fox News the state of Indiana is more than ready to hire any Chicago police officers who are punished or fired for refusing to comply with the vaccine mandate.
“Our police do the hardest job in the world, and they deserve respect — not losing their pay or being fired for refusing to comply with a ridiculous vaccine mandate,” Braun said Fox News in a statement.

9. Proof that the CDC is Lying to the World About COVID Vaccine Safety – Global Research
The CDC and the FDA claim that we can safely ignore the huge spike in event rates reported to the VAERS system this year (this is the official adverse event reporting system relied on by the FDA and CDC to spot safety signals). In their view, there is “nothing to see” in the death chart below. They claim that the propensity to report (PTR) is much higher this year and that all the events (with the exception of a few) are all simply reporting background events that were not caused by the vaccines.
There’s just one tiny little problem with that explanation: there is a CDC paper that proves that they are lying. Big time.
The reality is the vaccines are extremely dangerous, they kill more than they save for every age range (it’s worse the younger you are), and they should be halted immediately, not green lighted like the FDA committee just did. All vaccine mandates should be rescinded. (Read more)

10. Teen dies of heart attack soon after getting COVID shot so he could play hockey: report – Pandemic News
A 17-year-old boy in Canada died of a heart attack at home on September 27 reportedly two weeks after he received a COVID jab.
Sean Hartman is said to have suffered from “multiple” health problems “immediately” after the jab, including myocarditis, or heart inflammation. He received the COVID jab in order to be able to play hockey in an arena where the shot is required for entry.
A small demonstration was held close to the hockey arena that mandated the jab. One man who participated held up a sign facing the road that read, “A broken heart from not being allowed to play hockey will heal. Myocarditis from the jab will kill (or be a long-long condition).”
“He was not allowed to play hockey in the arena because they’d asked him [to] take the jab. And they said to him ‘you’re not allowed in the arena’ (inaudible). He got the jab and now two weeks later he’d been sick, he died yesterday,” the man said in a video shared by The Covid World.

11. Florida Governor Calls for Special Session to Counter Vaccine and Mask Mandates - Epoch Times
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Oct. 21 called for a special legislative session to consider bills countering vaccine and mask mandates. The move follows a series of CCP virus vaccine mandates imposed by the administration of President Joe Biden. This does not sit well with the Florida Governor, and he has “had enough” of federal interference into state business, Christina Punshaw, Press Secretary told the Epoch Times.
The legislative proposals include the provision of reemployment assistance to people who are fired due to failure to comply with an employer’s vaccine mandate. Under another proposal, Floridians who have an adverse reaction to a vaccine would be eligible for workers’ compensation.
Employers who fire workers solely based on the vaccine mandate would be prohibited from enforcing non-compete agreements against the employees, according to another proposal. Another provision would require employers to provide and religious and health exemptions to vaccine mandates. Meanwhile, companies that fail to notify employees about the exemptions would be liable to lawsuits by fired employees. (Read more)

“Oh, we are for the little guy. Corporations should pay their fair share. We want to tax the rich. This $3.5 trillion budget won’t cost you a cent.” As my Dad used to say when I was little, “It’s all a bunch of BS.” When I asked him what “BS” meant, he would look over to my mother’s unapproving glare, and say, “Brown Sugar, son.” Well, it’s worse than brown sugar. These Democratic Party policies are going to throw the US into a dark recession with record level inflation—and it all hurts the “little guy” that the Democrats repeatedly say they support. No thanks, I’m good. These policy moves also clear the way for the biggest socialist power grab since Obamacare—and that’s horrible for your Constitutional rights.
First and foremost, the whole COVID 19 vaccination mandate that the Biden Administration is threatening not only tramples your civil rights, it will cost businesses millions in extra money to implement. There will be testing costs. There will be administrative costs. There will be legal costs. And who do you think is going to pay for these costs? They all will be passed through to the cost of goods and services paid for by, guess who? The little guy. You and me. And that corporate tax increase Biden and the Democrats want to make sure companies pay their fair share? You and I will pay it because the same companies will have to raise their prices to compensate. So, it’s going to cost and it will cost big time. Read More

Giant ram head statues found on 'Avenue of Sphinxes' in Egypt
|
|
|
Three giant statues of ram heads — at least one of which had a cobra on top — have been discovered south of Karnak Temple in Luxor, Egyptologists announced.
Karnak Temple was built between roughly 4,000 and 2,000 years ago, and much of it is dedicated to Amun-Ra, a god associated with the sun and Thebes, the capital of ancient Egypt (now the modern-day city of Luxor). The temple complex covers over 250 acres (100 hectares).
On Oct. 11, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that three giant ram heads had been found by an Egyptian archaeological team south of a gateway built by the Ptolemies, a dynasty of pharaohs descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals that ruled Egypt between 305 B.C and 30 B.C.
In ancient times, these ram heads were part of three larger statues that had the bodies of creatures that looked a bit like sphinxes. The statues featured in a large avenue of ram-headed statues that went south, running for 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) between Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, Mustafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, told the news site al-Monitor. Youth for Christ's Juvenile Justice Ministry Aims to Break Cycle of Incarceration
|

|
One youth ministry is working to help young people free themselves from a life of crime by giving them hope through the Gospel.
Youth for Christ (YFC) developed its Juvenile Justice Ministry as a way to build relationships with Americans under the age of 18 and break the recurring cycle of being placed in juvenile detention centers.
Juvenile Justice Ministry Director CJ Fisher said the teams strive to reach youth who are stuck in the system and feel hopeless.
"I think when we think about the justice system, we always think of the adult system," Fisher stated. "We often miss out on the fact that we have kids that are going through the system because of their parents or communities. It's a cycle ... the parents are in the system, then the children, who then grow up to have kids that most likely will be in the system."
Fisher added, "It's really evident that there's a huge need for YFC's Juvenile Justice Ministry when you walk into a facility and you see a 10-year-old behind glass."
The ministry is coming alongside youth in a variety of settings including detention centers, correctional facilities, group homes, residential treatment centers, and emergency shelters.
"So many kids are wary of us when we first come in, but we genuinely want to connect with them, and eventually they can tell that we are different," Fisher added.
"We tell them, 'We'll provide you with services, but more so than that, we want to give you hope. And that hope is found in Jesus Christ.' That's what makes this ministry so special - we get to show them Jesus behind locked doors." (CBN) (Read more here)
