TODAY'S TOP STORY
Colin Powell, former secretary of state, dead at 84 from COVID-19 complications

Gen. Colin Powell, the influential former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who played a pivotal policy role during the administration of President George W. Bush, died Monday at 84 from complications related to COVID-19, his family announced.

"We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American," his family said in a statement, adding that he was fully vaccinated.

The statement continued, "We want to thank the medical staff at Walter Reed National Medical Center for their caring treatment."
Powell, the first Black secretary of state, served in Bush's Cabinet from 2001-2005, including during the tumultuous years following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The State Department described Powell, a Republican, as being "one of the foremost supporters" of taking "swift military action" against al Qaeda. Powell demanded "immediate" cooperation from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the U.S. effort to hunt down those responsible for the attacks.

Former President George W. Bush released a statement on Powell's passing Monday morning.

"Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of Colin Powell," he said. "He was highly respected at home and abroad. And most important, Colin was a family man and a friend. Laura and I send Alma and their children our sincere condolences as they remember the life of a great man."

Powell had a wife, Alma, and three children, Annemarie, Linda and Michael. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Lord, though this man had serious issues and did not approve of President Trump, he still served the United States with strength during a difficult time. We pray comfort for his family and honor his service to America in Jesus’ Name amen.

1. Top cyber official: Hospital attack ‘purely financial,’ likely by Chinese group - Times of Israel

Health Ministry cybersecurity chief Reuven Eliyahu said Monday morning that last week’s massive ransomware attack on Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera was likely carried out by Chinese hackers whose motives were “purely financial.”

“This is probably a Chinese hacker group that broke away from another group and started working in August,” Eliyahu said in an interview on Army Radio. “The motive for the attack was purely financial.”

A ransomware attack involves breaking into an entity’s networks to encrypt its data, then demanding a ransom, typically paid via cryptocurrency, to unlock it. As a government hospital, Hillel Yaffe was barred from paying any ransom, according to Channel 12 news. (Read more)

2.  Israel approves NIS 5 billion to build capability to attack Iran - Israel National News

While the Biden Administration is attempting to bring the Iranians back to the negotiating table, Israel has approved the budget package for building an attack capability against Iran's nuclear program amounting to about NIS 5 billion, Channel 12 News reported.

The budget that will fund the Israeli project to build the attack capabilities will consist of NIS 3 billion in the current state budget and another NIS 2 billion in the next budget.

The budget also includes the financing of aircraft of various types, intelligence gathering capabilities such as satellites, and dedicated and unique armament to enable this attack. (Read more)

3. Bennett to ask Putin to keep Iran away from Golan Heights - World Israel News

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is set to ask Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to lean on Iran regarding its forces stationed in Syria near Israel’s northern border, when the pair meet later this week.

Bennett is slated to travel to Moscow on Friday for his first meeting with the Russian premier since taking office earlier this year.

According to Israel Hayom, Iran will be the subject of main concern when the leaders meet, with Bennett planning to enlist Russia’s help to rein Iran’s efforts to develop terrorist infrastructure along the Israeli-Syrian border.

Over the weekend reports emerged that Israel had killed Madhat al-Saleh on Saturday. Al-Saleh was a senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad and former director of the Golan Affairs Office. He was believed to have been instrumental in helping Hezbollah entrench its positions in the region, with a view to carrying out attacks against the Golan Heights. (Read more)

4. Israeli building in E1 will thwart Palestinian state, NGOs tell IDF - Jerusalem Post

The construction of nearly 3,500 settler homes in E1 is designed to thwart a two-state resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, architect Uri Reicher testified at a Civil Administration hearing on the contentious project.
“Israeli construction on E1 harms Palestine’s future growth potential and therefore closes the door to the possibility of a peace agreement,” Reicher wrote in a submission to the Civil Administration, parts of which he read out at the hearing.

“It could even be said that, in fact, the project has been advanced not out of urban planning considerations, but in order to achieve the political goal of thwarting any opportunity to reach a political agreement” between Israelis and Palestinians, he wrote. (Read more)

5. Israel and India Agree to Cooperate on Solar Power Needs, Resume Trade Pact Talks - Algemeiner

Israel and India are expected to sign a free-trade agreement by the middle of 2022 as the two countries mark the start of celebrations of 30 years of bilateral relations.

India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar announced the resumption of free trade talks during his visit to Israel, which began on Sunday. Negotiations are planned to commence in November.

“India is one of our most important, not only strategic partners but also a friend and an ally for many years, which is also bringing new opportunities for cooperation,” said Finance Minister Yair Lapid.

Jaishankar and Lapid discussed a range of regional and global issues and agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of water and agriculture, which have recently become an anchor in relations between the two countries. Additionally, the two agreed in principle on mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certifications. (Read more)

1. Jill Biden boosts group that helps illegal immigrants avoid arrest amid border crisis | Fox News

First lady Jill Biden touted a private school run by a Democratic donor whose organization has posted tips on how illegal immigrants can avoid arrest while in the U.S.

"Strength. Community. Passion. Those were the words I wrote down during an inspiring charla today with @SBAIsabel, @RepDavids, and members of the Latino community in Kansas City, KS. Thank you El Centro Academy for Children for all you do and for being our gracious hosts today," Biden, who is a teacher, tweeted Tuesday of her visit to the El Centro Academy in Kansas City, Kansas.

El Centro president and CEO Irene Caudillo is a Democratic donor who has given to both President Biden’s campaign and to Rep. Sharice Davids, who urged the first lady to visit the school, the Washington Free Beacon reported

El Centro's nonprofit arm has published a series of videos on how illegal immigrants can avoid arrests, with tips such as ignoring ICE agents during any interactions and contacting "a member of the community who does have status," the outlet reported. "In this video we detail the steps you can take if you have an ICE agent meeting. We want to make sure our families are informed of their rights and stay protected and safe," reads a 2019 Facebook post from El Centro Inc., which was translated from Spanish to English.

- Lord, we ask that Jill Biden and all in this administration be held accountable for open borders. We pray that You will visit them in the night seasons and reveal truth to all.

- “For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams in visions of the night when deep sleep falls upon people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears, and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong…” (Job 33:14-17)

2. Loudoun County prosecutor who sought to jail father of girl allegedly raped at school tied to Soros, McAuliffe | Fox News

The Loudoun County prosecutor who sought jail time against a father who was arrested at a school board meeting after his daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted in a school bathroom has ties to progressive megadonor George Soros and Democratic Virginia gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe.
Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney Buta Biberaj was described in the explosive report by The Daily Wire as the "progressive" elected county prosecutor who ran on a platform of ending "mass incarceration," but yet she sought jail time for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanor charges, against Scott Smith.
Smith was arrested during a June 22 school board meeting several weeks after he says his daughter was raped by a gender-fluid student in a school bathroom. The student, a 15-year-old boy, was charged in that case with two counts of forcible sodomy and later arrested. He was then fitted with an ankle monitor and transferred to another school in Ashburn, where he was accused of committing another sexual assault against another female student in October.

- Lord, we sever these connections, and pray that You will pull them down, stopping them from their insidious plans. We pray that Your justice would be executed upon Soros and all who have been connected to him.

- “Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely.” (Proverbs 28:5)

3. Pentagon Faces Class-Action Lawsuit Over Vaccine Mandates on Military, Federal Employees and Contractors (theepochtimes.com)

Service members from all five branches of the U.S. military, federal employees, and federal civilian contractors have joined in a class-action lawsuit against the Department of Defense over its COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
The 24 plaintiffs “face a deadline under the Federal COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate to receive a COVID-19 vaccine that violates their sincerely held religious beliefs, and have been refused any religious exemption or accommodation,” according to Liberty Counsel, the Christian legal firm that filed the lawsuit.
The lawsuit (pdf), filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, lists President Joe Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as defendants.
The plaintiffs are asking the court to issue a temporary restraining order (pdf) to prevent the COVID-19 vaccine mandates from taking effect, and ultimately issue an injunction to prevent the Pentagon from enforcing the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

- Lord, we pray for all of our military and others who have joined in this lawsuit. We ask that You grant them favor in the courts, and stop this evil plan from  going any further.

- “Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed.” (Job 38:11)

4. Chinese nuclear-capable hypersonic missile test surprises US intelligence: Report | Fox News

China tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile in a move that caught U.S. intelligence by surprise, according to a new report.
The missile launched in August and circled the globe before speeding towards its target, which it missed by about two-dozen miles according to three individuals briefed on the intelligence. Two of those individuals said the test showed how far China has progressed on hypersonic weaponry – farther that U.S. officials realized.
"We have no idea how they did this," one individual told The Financial Times
Taylor Fravel, an expert on Chinese nuclear weapons and professor at MIT, said it would be "destabilizing" if China fully developed and deployed such a weapon.
"Hypersonic glide vehicles…fly at lower trajectories and can maneuver in flight, which makes them hard to track and destroy," Fravel said.
U.S. military officials in recent months have warned about China’s growing nuclear capabilities, particularly after the release of satellite imagery that showed it was building over 100 intercontinental missile silos. Two sources familiar with the recent test noted that the weapon could, in theory, fly via the South Pole instead of the more heavily monitored North Pole route.

- Lord, if this report is true then it is concerning that they were surprised. We place our trust in You for protection against all evil attempting to harm America and our allies.

- “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7)

5. Republican AGs Say There Is No Federal Vaccine Mandate for Private Workers, Vow to Sue (theepochtimes.com)

Several Republican attorneys general have said that President Joe Biden’s federal mandate for COVID-19 vaccinations hasn’t yet come into effect for private businesses, adding that if it is ordered, they will file lawsuits against it.
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, a Republican, noted that the White House only last week submitted the text of its emergency rule regarding vaccinations to the Office of Management and Budget, meaning it hasn’t gone into effect.
But, Knudsen noted that “no such rule or regulation is currently in effect,” adding (pdf) that there has been a “great deal of confusion” over Biden’s announcement last month.

- Lord once again we pray that this lawsuit will go forward and have favor within the courts. Let truth be shown to all.

- “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”  (Psalm 84:11)

6. Biden leans more on Obama with White House under pressure from multiple crises | Fox News

President Biden appears to be leaning more on his former boss as the White House comes under increased pressure to improve the nation's economy and outlook on the future of the Democratic Party.
Former President Obama will attend the United Nations COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, early next month to highlight the "important progress" made with climate change since the Paris Agreement took effect. Meanwhile, President Biden and his Cabinet participate in the World Leader Summit in Glasgow on Nov. 1 and 2 at the beginning of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
It is unclear whether Obama will participate in any meetings or events with Biden and his Cabinet officials. Earlier this year, the White House said Biden and Obama spoke "regularly" about a "range of issues" as well as personal matters but did not disclose the frequency of those conversations.

- Lord, Obama was elected President twice, he should not be running the current occupant of the White House. We ask that You tell the proper authorities whether this is legal, and if not, we pray that You will put a stop to it.

- “They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.” (Matthew 23:4)

7. U.S. will provide condolence payments for Kabul drone strike : NPR
The U.S. Department of Defense says it will provide money to the families affected by the botched drone strike on Aug. 29 that killed 10 civilians, including up to seven children, in Kabul, Afghanistan.
At a Pentagon news briefing on Tuesday, a Wall Street Journal reporter asked if anyone in the U.S. military or in the Defense Department had made contact with any of the victims' families.
Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said in a statement that, two days after the news conference, Colin Kahl, the undersecretary of defense for policy, met with Steven Kwon, president of Nutrition and Education International. One of the people killed was Zemari Ahmadi, an aid worker with Kwon's organization.

- Lord, we pray for You to comfort for this family, and let them be visited by Your Holy Spirit. We ask for a move of Your Spirit across Afghanistan, bringing the people to You and removing the mindsets that have been involved for centuries.

- “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

 8. Lawmakers counter Biden's public lands plan (washingtonexaminer.com)

Conservative lawmakers from Western states unveiled their own plan to conserve public lands this month in response to a Biden administration initiative setting a goal for their preservation.

In May, the White House released its “America the Beautiful” initiative , which established what it called “the first-ever national conservation goal” of “conserving 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030.” An Interior Department document about the president’s initiative said it “specifically emphasizes the notion of ‘conservation' of the nation’s natural resources (rather than the related but different concept of ‘protection' or ‘preservation') recognizing that many uses of our lands and waters, including of working lands, can be consistent with the long-term health and sustainability of natural systems.”

But Republican lawmakers in the Senate and Congressional Western Caucuses called the president’s proposal “ambiguous,” and they said it fails to “focus on the vast restoration and management needs of our public lands and waters.” In a joint statement, Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington and Sen. Steve Daines of Montana said: “In the West, we know firsthand that locking up lands with preservationist designations does not automatically guarantee healthy landscapes.” “In fact, the opposite is often the case,” they said. “The Western Conservation Principles demonstrate that conservation and working lands go hand-in-hand.”

The lawmakers said that if the Biden administration “is serious about restoring America the Beautiful, they will embrace Western Conservation Principles and promote these time-tested, science-based practices we know equate to real conservation outcomes for our lands and waters.”
In their own proposal titled “ Western Conservation Principles ,” the Republicans argued that conservation of land often requires human intervention, citing forest management to prevent wildfires, curbing invasive wildlife species that threaten an area’s native wildlife, and cleaning up abandoned mines.

- Thank You Lord, for this move by Western lawmakers. We pray that their plan would go forward to destroy the plans of the Federal government from harming  farmers and ranchers. We place the lands, and the livelihoods of the people in Your Mighty Hands.

- “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

9. 'Reminiscent of Jan. 6': Violent protesters arrested after storming Interior Department, injuring officers | Fox News

Dozens of activists protesting fossil fuel projects were arrested Thursday in Washington, D.C., after they staged a sit-in at the Interior Department, a move that led to "multiple injuries" and at least one law enforcement officer being transported to a hospital.
Demanding that President Biden declare climate change an emergency, People vs. Fossil Fuels, the group responsible for the protest, organized a week-long series of demonstrations against the president as he approves different fossil fuel projects.
Following the protest, Interior Department spokeswoman Melissa Schwartz released a statement through a series of tweets.
"Early this afternoon, a group of protestors entered the Stewart Lee Udall Main Interior Building," Schwartz wrote. "Federal Protective Service personnel responded to the area to mitigate the situation. Multiple injuries were sustained by security personnel, and one officer has been transported to a nearby hospital. Medics representing both the Department and the protesters were present."

- Lord, these protesters had nothing whatsoever to do with January 6th. These were left wing people whose agenda is to destroy America. We pray for repentance across the entire Washington DC spectrum, and righteousness to roll forward across the entire nation.

- “Then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;”  (Prov. 2:5-20)

9. Southwest Airlines Asks Court to Reject Effort to Block COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate (theepochtimes.com)

Southwest Airlines asked a federal court to reject a lawsuit filed by the carrier’s pilots union to temporarily block the company from carrying out its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, arguing the order would put its business, customers, and employees at risk.
Earlier this month, the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) filed a lawsuit to prevent the carrier from mandating that all its workers get vaccinated. The union asserts that Southwest, which last week experienced thousands of flight cancellations and delays, illegally changed work rules instead of negotiating with them.
“The injunction that SWAPA seeks is extraordinary,” Southwest’s lawyers said in its court filing, responding to the union’s suit, Bloomberg reported. It further argued that a ruling against Southwest would potentially cause the cancellation of Southwest’s contracts with the federal government, creating “substantial harm” to its businesses and its employees, including the pilots.
In early October, Southwest said that its 56,000 workers, including pilots, have to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 8 under federal rules and cited President Joe Biden’s Sept. 9 announcement that federal workers and contractors need to get the shot unless they’re granted a medical or religious exemption. Southwest said it has to require federal vaccines because the airline is a federal contractor that flies government cargo and employees, and provides it with other services.

- Lord, this mandate has already caused massive chaos in the airline industry and especially with Southwest airlines. We take authority over the mandates for all airlines and other private companies and command them to fall to the ground in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Let the courts grant favor to those who wish to work without such demands.

- “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

> > > To stand with the employees of Southwest Airlines, you can now sign this petition to support their cause. Thank you.

10. Pastor in Uganda Killed for Proclaiming Christ to Muslims, Sources Say - Christian News Headlines (christianheadlines.com)

Two men in eastern Uganda have been charged with murder in the Sept. 12 killing of an evangelist the suspects had harassed and threatened for his role in bringing Muslims to faith in Christ, sources said. . . . Pastor Musana drew the ire of area Muslims while holding evangelistic events and public debates about Christianity and Islam.

“In February 2020, the Muslims got irritated and furious when he said that Jesus is the Son of God and hence is more than prophet Muhammad,” Pastor Okot told Morning Star News. “They shouted at him, and the church members whisked him away before they could mount an attack. Since then, he started receiving threatening messages that he should leave the area.”

Abandoning the evangelistic events and debates, Pastor Musana instead trained evangelists to visit homes, and within six months 15 Muslims had put their faith in Christ, Pastor Okot said. “This angered the Muslims most, and he was given a second warning to leave the area,” he said.

- Lord, how we pray that Your people around the world would be able to stand strong like this man. Let Your comfort come to his family, and Your provision be a part of their lives from now on. Let all who hear of this situation not be afraid but be bold and full of faith.

- “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

The Daily Jot

Mandate Mania

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, October 18, 2021

Lawsuits are being filed, people are being fired, frontline workers such as police, EMTs, and nurses are being fired or threatened with their jobs, the Biden Administration is threatening the military with discharges—all over vaccine mandates that are making their way through the court system. Despite a less than 2 percent mortality rate reported for COVID 19, Biden is sticking to his guns to dictate forced vaccinations. The mainstream medical machine is sticking by its narrative that the vaccine is both safe and effective when its own CDC, FDA, and other agencies tracking the vaccine are showing that it wanes in efficacy after four to six months, doesn’t protect against infection, and allows transmission of the disease.

And the news media continues to pound the unvaccinated with the hammer of being a dire medical threat to every living human, even though Department of Defense statistics report that among the 80% 65+ population, 71% of new COVID 19 cases were among the vaccinated. Case in point, ESPN’s college sideline reporter Allison Williams quit the network rather than face a vaccine mandate firing. She said her and her husband were trying to get pregnant and she did not want to risk any complications by taking the vaccine. Many media stories covering her resignation added this disclaimer: “The CDC has said there is currently no evidence the COVID vaccines cause fertility problems in women and men, and that “the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy.” Read More

Fed judge grants religious exemption to NY’s COVID vax mandate pending final ruling

ALBANY — An upstate New York federal judge granted a preliminary injunction against Gov. Kathy Hochul’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, barring the state Department of Health from enforcing the requirement on healthcare workers who claim religious exemptions while the case is being decided.

“Upon review, plaintiffs have established at this early stage of the litigation that they are likely to succeed on the merits of this constitutional claim,” wrote Utica federal Judge David Hurd Tuesday.

He granted the request in response to a religious-freedom lawsuit filed last month against Hochul, the DOH and Attorney General Letitia James by 17 anonymous healthcare workers — the majority being Catholic — claiming the state’s mandate violated their constitutional rights.

Hurd’s decision extends a temporary restraining order granted shortly after the suit was filed and prohibits employers from citing the state’s mandate to deny exemption requests. It also pauses the DOH’s ability to enforce the rule, or revoke any religious exemptions granted since the mandate took effect on Sept. 27.

The mandate also permits employers to fire workers if they refused to comply and did not have a valid medical exemption.

“Plaintiffs have established that [the mandate] conflicts with longstanding federal protections for religious beliefs and that they and others will suffer irreparable harm in the absence of injunctive relief,” he added.

“These conclusions have nothing to do with how an individual employer should handle an individual employee’s religious objection to a workplace vaccination requirement. But they have everything to do with the proper division of federal and state power.” (New York Post) Read more here.

Reclaim October from the Spirit of Death

A Special Report from Intercessors for America
The following article was written by Joyce Swingle, IFA Contributing Writer. In it, she carefully lays out the dangers in the spirit during this season and, once we are aware of
this matter, how we can best protect ourselves and our loved ones from the negative
impact of this season.

To read her article, please go here.

Here is Joyce's prayer for this month:

We cover ourselves with the full armor of God. The belt of truth. Let Truth be our guide. The breastplate of righteousness. We want right relationships with You and the creation. Convict us of any sin and any unrighteousness in our thoughts, words, or actions; forgive and change us. Grant us nimbleness that flows from the Gospel of peace as we strap on those sandals. We take up the shield of faith, the sword of Your Word, the helmet of salvation, and the hope of the Gospel firmly upon our heads. We forgive those who have and are celebrating evil and death. Forgive them, release the debt against them; cover the ground with the Blood of Jesus. We take this ground back and strip away all permissions given to the enemy. All the earth is the Lord’s! In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, bind, gag, cripple, blind and render unable to act or replicate all spirits whose name or whose function is to promote death, evil, horror, hate, terror, witchcraft, Jezebel, pharmacia, Baal, and Halloween and all assigned to hijack the harvest, corrupt children, or own the autumn. Cast all such into the abyss or wherever you want, Lord of All. Send Holy Spirit to fill all vacated spots with Your Life and Your Love. We worship You, Lord of Life, Light of the World, Love of the Ages. And we decree: October belongs to the Lord! The rod of the wicked will NOT rest upon the land of the righteous and witchcraft will NOT thrive over a people born free! Lord Jesus, take back October! Take back Your harvest days!

Signs & Wonders
Orionids

Overview

The Orionids, which peak during mid-October each year, are considered to be one of the most beautiful showers of the year. Orionid meteors are known for their brightness and for their speed. These meteors are fast—they travel at about 148,000 mph (66 km/s) into the Earth's atmosphere. Fast meteors can leave glowing "trains" (incandescent bits of debris in the wake of the meteor) which last for several seconds to minutes. Fast meteors can also sometimes become fireballs: Look for prolonged explosions of light when viewing the Orionid meteor shower.

The Orionids are also framed by some of the brightest stars in the night sky, which lend a spectacular backdrop for theses showy meteors.

Viewing Tips

The Orionids are viewable in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres during the hours after midnight. Find an area well away from city or street lights. Come prepared with a sleeping bag, blanket or lawn chair. Lie flat on your back with your feet facing southeast if you are in the Northern Hemisphere or northeast if you are in the Southern Hemisphere, and look up, taking in as much of the sky as possible. In less than 30 minutes in the dark, your eyes will adapt and you will begin to see meteors. Be patient -- the show will last until dawn, so you have plenty of time to catch a glimpse. Read More

‘God Protected Him’: Texas Man Who Found Missing Toddler Praises God for Miraculous Rescue

Tim Halfin, a regional director for a pharmacy in Magnolia, Texas, is giving God all the glory after he miraculously found a little boy who had been lost in the woods for three days.

Halfin, who is a Christian, explained to Faithwire he was sitting in a Bible study on Friday when he learned about 3-year-old Christopher Ramirez, who went missing two days earlier after he chased a dog into the woods.

“During our prayer for this little boy,” he said, “the Holy Spirit just popped in me, ‘Tomorrow morning, you’ll go look for him,’ and I did. There’s been a few times in my life that the Holy Spirit has really spoken to me and I’ve obeyed and, of course, the outcome is always great.”

Christopher had been missing since around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Local law enforcement officials, community members, and the little boy’s mother had been searching for the toddler to no avail.

Halfin joined the search just before noon Saturday.

As he was looking, Halfin recalled hearing noises in the woods, though he wasn’t sure if it was Christopher. He nevertheless called sheriff’s deputies, who arrived on ATVs, clearly discouraged by the lack of success they’d had in finding the lost little boy.

It wasn’t too long after that Halfin found Christopher, who had shed all his clothing.

“When I saw him, it was immediately, ‘Praise God! This is answered prayer!’” Halfin said, adding that the look on the child’s face when he picked him up was, “I’ve been waiting for you, where have you been?”

“I think God had been protecting this little boy all along,” he continued. “I think Jesus had been talking to him for three nights and now going on four days.” (Faithwire) Read more here.

Thoughts for Repentance
21 Days of Prayer

Murderers | Day 11
Today on Day Eleven of the 21 Day Repentance journey, the focus is on the fourth of these sins:  murderers.

Day eleven: Murderers. Ask the Helper Holy Spirit if you have any spirit of murder, perhaps as a generational curse. Where did it first surface in you? How does it show up in your life today?
What is His replacement? "And the LORD GOD formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."
Genesis 2:7
" And this commandment we have from Him; that he who loves God must love his brother also." John 4:21

Scripture: Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord. Micah 4:2

Lyrics;
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

Refrain
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Refrain

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

Refrain

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

Refrain
