Glenn Youngkin wins Virginia governor’s race, riding enthusiasm wave on education issues

Republican Glenn Youngkin's shocking defeat of Democrat Terry McAuliffe Tuesday in the Virginia gubernatorial contest will almost certainly serve as a blueprint for Republicans in the post-Trump era.

Youngkin’s victory was consistent with late October polls that showed him burning through McAuliffe’s summer lead and claiming a modest advantage on the strength of his message about education and the economy.

Glenn Youngkin flipped the Virginia governorship to Republican control, pulling off a win by embracing hot-button education and cultural issues and signaling trouble for Democrats nationwide heading into 2022.

He led what appears to be a Republican sweep, with Winsome Sears winning the lieutenant governor’s office , Jason Miyares leading incumbent Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring, and Republicans appearing to flip the state House of Delegates from Democratic to Republican control by a single seat .

"Alrighty, Virginia, we won this thing," Youngkin declared as he took the stage well after midnight at his victory party in a Chantilly ballroom.

"There are always those that say that that hill is too steep to climb. But we are empowered. We're empowered by a conviction, a righteous conviction in our children's future. We're strengthened by our collective belief in the Virginia promise," he said.

His core campaign pledges include eliminating Virginia’s 2.5% grocery tax, cutting regulations with the aim of spurring job growth, and doubling the standard deduction for income tax. He also pledges to fund law enforcement fully and protect qualified immunity.

But it was his embrace of education issues at the forefront of cultural clashes that animated the Republican grassroots base, fostered enthusiasm , and helped propel Youngkin to victory. (Washington Examiner) Read more here.

- We are so grateful, so honored, and so humbled that you have had such mercy on the Commonwealth of Virginia. Despite all the evil that has emanated from this government in the past years, you have shown favor, and you have answered prayers. We believe you have given us a righteous man as governor, and righteous woman as lieutenant governor, and a righteous man as attorney general. We pray for each of them, their families, and the administrations they will be setting up. Please fill all of them with your Holy Spirit. May they all stand strong in you and in the power of your might. Keep them from fear of man, from waffling, and from stepping back on their campaign promises. We cover each one with the Blood of Jesus.

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."  (Gal. 5:1)

1. Knesset votes no-confidence, but Bennett government doesn't fall - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s government lost two votes of no-confidence in the Knesset plenum on Monday, but it will not fall because 61 out of 120 MKs are needed to topple it.
The two bills, proposed by Likud and by Shas and United Torah Judaism, declared the state budget cruel. They passed by votes of 8-0 and 9-0.

The coalition boycotted the votes to protest the opposition’s violation of the tradition to refrain from proposing no-confidence votes when the prime minister is abroad. The Likud responded that Yisrael Beytenu broke that tradition when it submitted a no-confidence motion in then-prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government when he went to Washington last year to sign the Abraham Accords. 2. Number 6 on United Arab List supports Hamas rocket fire into Israel - Israel National News

Ala Aladin Jabarin, a senior official within the United Arab List and sixth on the party’s list, has come under fire for a post and video he uploaded to his Facebook page three years ago, in which he expressed his support for a “military solution” to Israel’s conflict with the Palestinians. The post was uncovered by the “Kol Hayehudi” website.

The video praised terrorist rocket fire from Gaza into Israel, and stated that, “We have no solution other than victory or death as martyrs.” It was posted on June 9, 2018, just ten days after Gaza-based terrorist organizations fired around 200 rockets into Israel.

“Dear Shahid [martyr] … we will break our fast in Jerusalem … the capital of Palestine … We have no other solution than either victory or death as martyrs,” read the captions to the video, which shows terrorists carrying rockets to their launching sites and then firing them into the Israeli communities bordering Gaza. 3. IDF cancels suspension of elite unit commander who refused COVID vaccine -Israel National News

The Israeli military has cancelled the suspension of a senior IDF officer over his refusal to receive the COVID vaccine, Kan reported Sunday night.

According to the report, the commander of the IDF Northern Command’s elite Alpine unit, who holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Res.), was allowed to resume his duties Sunday, after the chief of Northern Command, Amir Baram was forced to cancel the officer’s suspension.

Baram had suspended the officer over the officer’s refusal to receive the COVID vaccine. The suspension came despite the army’s policy of permitting soldiers to substitute a negative PCR test instead of getting vaccinated. (Read more)

4. Palestinian terrorist used humanitarian entry permit to carry out attacks in Israel - World Israel News

A 29-year-old Palestinian who has been staying in Israel illegally for nearly two years was indicted on Monday on charges of carrying out several arson attacks in central Israel.

Saliman Qassab, originally from the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, entered Israel in January 2020 after receiving a humanitarian entry permit for accompanying his ill mother who was treated in an Israeli hospital.

Following his mother’s recovery, Qassab used his permit to remain in Israel illegally, according to a joint investigation carried out by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Israel Police. (Read more)

5. BREAKING! Senate confirms Thomas Nides as Ambassador to Israel - Israel National News

The US Senate on Wednesday confirmed by voice vote the nomination of Thomas Nides to be Ambassador of the United States to Israel.

The voice vote became necessary after Republican Senator Josh Hawley on Tuesday blocked an attempt to approve Nides after an attempt to confirm him by unanimous consent.

The Missouri senator said he objected on behalf of his Republican colleagues to Nides, along with seven other nominees, pushed by Senator Robert Menendez.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmed Nides to be the next US Ambassador to Israel late last month, moving the process to the full Senate. (Read more)

1. GOP leader says Republicans could flip 60 seats next year - The Hill

Republicans took a victory lap Wednesday following Republican Glenn Youngkin’s stunning win in the Virginia governor’s race, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) predicting his party could flip more than 60 House seats in next year’s midterm elections.

“If you're a Democrat and President Biden won your seat by 16 points, you're in a competitive race next year. You are no longer safe,” McCarthy told reporters while flanked by his leadership team and Virginia Republicans.

“It'll be more than 70 [Democratic seats] that will be competitive. There's many that are going to lose their races based upon walking off a cliff from [Speaker] Nancy Pelosi [D-Calif.] pushing them,” he continued. “She may not care if she lose. She lost 63 the last time she was Speaker moving policy that the country didn't care for. (Read more)

2. Supreme Court signals it could strike down or limit restrictive NY gun permit law - Fox News

The Supreme Court’s questioning during oral arguments in a New York gun rights case showed that several justices have strong reservations about the state’s highly restrictive regulations for getting concealed carry permits.

The case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, is potentially the biggest gun rights case to go before the high court in more than a decade

New York Solicitor General Barbara Underwood noted that, under current rules, the state has the discretion to evaluate a person’s reason for applying for a permit, as an applicant has to show "proper cause" for needing one. Underwood pointed out that the more specific a reason a person gives in terms of facing a threat of danger, the better their chances. (Read more)

3. California school board votes to bring police back to school campuses following defund movement - Fox News

California school board voted unanimously last week to bring police back to campuses, just a few months after it decided to remove law enforcement from school grounds, arguing at the time that the money should be spent on student services, like mental health

During a special meeting last Wednesday, the Pomona Unified school board approved a service agreement with the Pomona Police Department to hire two campus safety resource officers – as the district looks at "reimaging and retooling" the role of police, Superintendent Richard Martinez said, according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

The agreement, which still needs to be approved by the Pomona city council, comes months after protests across the country called for defunding the police. But since students returned for in-person learning after COVID-19 shutdowns, schools are now dealing with fights and issues that police officers would typically handle. (Read more)

- Lord we know and understand that wherever there is not law and order lawlessness will abound. We thank you that this school made the decision to bring back law and order. We pray for wisdom for all police officers to handle these tough situations in our schools and in our communities, in Jesus name, amen.

4.  Slate of conservative candidates declare victory in hotly contested Denver suburb school board race - Fox News

– A slate of political novices in Douglas County, Colorado, declared victory Tuesday night in a school board race that made national headlines. Christy Williams, one of four "Kids First" candidates, read off initial results to raucous applause at a supporter appreciation party in Parker, Colorado, in the moments after polls closed.

"I am humbled to my core," Williams told Fox News. "I think there's a lot to look at, but ultimately I hope to give parents the ultimate authority over their children."

Williams was joined by Mike Peterson, Becky Myers and Kaylee Winegar. Together, they hold a lead over the teacher federation-backed CommUnity Matters slate, comprised of incumbent board members Krista Holtzmann and Kevin Leung and newcomers Ruby Martinez and Juli Watkins. (Read more)

- Lord we thank you for these bold parents that had the courage to get involved and make a change. 5Republican Mike Carey wins Ohios 15th District with promise to fight Democrats radical agenda - Washington Examiner

GOP candidate Mike Carey emerged victorious in the heavily Republican 15th Congressional District of Ohio on Tuesday against Democratic opponent Allison Russo.

Carey, a military veteran and lobbyist in the coal industry, led Russo with 54.7% of the vote as of 9:37 p.m., at which time NBC News projected him to be the winner, claiming the vacant district that includes parts of Columbus and nearby communities.

As a lawmaker, Carey said he plans to "work with Republicans, Democrats, and independents" in order to fight the "radical agenda being pushed by Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi," according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Prior to the election, Carey was favored to win in the red district, which went for former President Donald Trump by 14 points in the November 2020 election. (Read more)

- Lord we pray for Mike Carey that he would not forget the promises he made to his constituents and that he would stand up for what he believes in despite tremendous pressure to abandon his righteous cause. Give him strength and wisdom on this position, in Jesus name.

6.  CDC signs off on COVID-19 vaccines for children - The Hill

Children ages 5 to 11 are now able to start receiving COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible, after Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky late Tuesday officially signed off on a recommendation from agency advisors.
Extending vaccine eligibility to children younger than 12 has been a major goal of public health officials and eagerly awaited by many pediatricians and families. The way to end the pandemic is to vaccinate as many people as possible, and an estimated 28 million children are now eligible.

Earlier Tuesday, the agency's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted unanimously, 14-0 in favor of the recommendation

As the advisors began deliberating Tuesday, Walensky said vaccinating younger children is important to protect them against COVID-19, and to help school get back to normal. The Food and Drug Administration has already authorized the vaccine for children in that age group; now that Walensky has signed off, vaccinations can begin. (Read more)

- Lord God we pray for every family that has to make this upcoming decision that the eyes of their hearts would be flooded with light that they may know the truth about the agenda going on and that they would make wise decisions for their children. Amen.

7. COVID-19 has retreated across the Americas, regional health agency says - Reuters

COVID-19 deaths and infections have declined across the Americas for the 8th consecutive week, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) said on Wednesday, warning that a very high percentage of hospitalized cases now are unvaccinated people.

In North America, all three countries reported drops in weekly cases and deaths, and there has been a notable decline in hospitalizations in the United States and Canada, PAHO said, with similar declines in South and Central America.

The regional health branch of the World Health Organization said 46% of the Latin American and Caribbean population have been fully vaccinated, and a majority of countries have already reached the WHO's 40% vaccination coverage target set for the end of the year. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for this good report. We ask that many citizens in these nations would learn of the dangers of taking these vaccines, and will make appropriate decisions for themselves and for the members of their households. In Your Name, amen and amen.

8. The largest municipal force in the U.S. has thousands on unpaid leave over vaccines - NPR

Thousands of New York municipal workers, including police officers and firefighters, have chosen unpaid leave rather than getting inoculated against COVID-19, as the city's vaccine mandate went into effect.

Speaking on Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio, a Democrat, said he expected no disruptions as a result of some 9,000 city employees, out of a 378,000-strong workforce, getting put on unpaid leave for failing to get a shot. Those workers must show proof of at least one dose of a vaccination to return to work, according to the Oct. 20 order.

The city's fire and police unions have challenged the mandate in court, but the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York said last week that courts had rejected its requests for an emergency order to halt the mandate. Uniformed Firefighters Association President Andrew Ansbro said the mandate would force dozens of fire companies to shut down. He urged city officials to give the union's members more time to comply with the mandate. (Read more)

9. Fed announces it will begin slowing economic aid as inflation continues to rise - Just The News

The Federal Reserve will begin reigning in the significant economic aid it has provided since the early 2020 onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The dial back is partly in response to inflation levels that appear likely to stick around longer than the Fed initially projected

In a Wednesday statement following a policy meeting, the Fed said it will begin reducing its $120 billion in monthly bond purchases by $15 billion a month over the course of the coming weeks. The Fed said it will slow its $80 billion in Treasury purchases by $10 billion a month and its $40 billion in mortgage-backed securities by $5 billion a month for the next two months, adding that similar dial backs will "likely be appropriate" in the months following.

The bond purchases have been used to hold down long-term interest rates and encourage borrowing and spending, which a recovering economy no longer needs.

-  Lord God as our economic system continues to fail, we thank you that you will never fail us. We believe and trust in you to supply all our needs during these uncertain times.

Stupidocrisy: Self-Inflicted Mandate Poison Pill

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, November 3, 2021

Everywhere we look, these unconstitutional vaccine mandates are wreaking havoc on Americans. If this continues, it won’t be long before unemployment will be at record levels, the economy will be slowed to a standstill, and people’s lives will be in danger across the board. Think about it: Chicago isn’t the safest place in the world as it is. What will happen if the police, firefighters, ambulance first responders, nurses and doctors are no longer allowed to show up for work because they choose not to be FORCED to take the COVID 19 shot? Woah, it’s not just Chicago. New York, Minneapolis, many other cities, even the US military and government offices. This is a self-inflicted poison pill.

The Biden Administration can’t be this stupid. It seems like a strategic plan. By mandating involuntary vaccinations to people who refuse them, Biden and his band are playing with fire. These mandates not only impact the economy, they impact the national security. The Epoch Times reports that in the Air Force alone, which is pretty important, “11,462 airmen have not begun a vaccination program before the Nov. 2 deadline to become fully vaccinated. Another nearly 12,000 reserve personnel or Space Force members remain unvaccinated, according to data released by the Air Force. Reserves have until Dec. 2 to become fully vaccinated.” As of Oct. 27, over 381,000 troops in other service branches remain unvaccinated. Read More

Republicans Win Back Virginia House of Delegates in Historic Sweep

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released a statement Wednesday marking historic wins for the GOP in Virginia, including control of the House of Delegates.

“On top of a clean sweep of the three statewide offices in Virginia, Republicans have retaken the House of Delegates in another sound rejection of Biden and Democrats’ failed agenda. The red wave is here, and things are only going to get worse for Joe Biden and the Democrats come November 2022,” McDaniel said in a statement.

Late Tuesday night, McDaniel also noted the Republican Party’s wins across the state as outlets began to announce Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin as the projected winner over Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe. “The red wave is here! Congratulations to Republicans Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears, and Jason Miyares on their incredible campaigns and hard fought victories,” she wrote.

McDaniel said the sweep sent a clear signal regarding what she called “the failed policies” of President Joe Biden and other Democrats. “This Republican sweep in Virginia is a resounding rebuke of the failed policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats. Virginians— and Americans across the country—are fed up with Biden’s divisive policies, failed leadership, and a Democrat agenda hurting working families,” McDaniels said.

The RNCC leader also predicted a GOP “wave” during next year’s midterms, calling Virginia “just the start.” “A Republican wave is coming in 2022, and Virginia is just the start,” McDaniels added. “Republicans WON BIG up and down the ballot on Tuesday and will carry this momentum into the 2022 midterms,” the committee said on Twitter Wednesday morning. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Winsome Sears says she would die for America, starts 'USA' chant during victory speech: 'American dream'

Winsome Sears delivered a patriotic speech as she claimed victory in her race to become the first woman and woman of color to be elected Virginia's lieutenant governor.

"I'm telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream," Sears said during her victory speech.

Sears, a Marine Corps veteran, claimed victory in a speech early Wednesday morning and was met by a crowd chanting, "Winsome! Winsome! Winsome!"

"When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me, I was willing, willing, to die for this country," Sears said during her victory speech early Wednesday morning.

She then led the boisterous crowd in a "USA" chant.

"In case you haven't noticed, I am Black. And I have been Black all my life, but that's not what this is about," she continued.

"What we are going to do now is be about the business of the Commonwealth," she said. "We have things to tend to. We are going to fully fund our historically Black colleges and universities. We’re going to have safer neighborhoods, safer communities, and our children are going to get a good education."

Sears immigrated to the United States from Jamaica as a child, and was the director of a Salvation Army homeless shelter prior to entering politics. She also owns an appliance and plumbing repair store in Virginia, and previously served as vice president of the Virginia Board of Education. (Fox News) Read more

Members of the Squad did not respond when asked to comment on the historic Virginia lieutenant governor election of Winsome Sears, who will be the first woman Lt. Gov., the first Black woman elected statewide, and the first naturalized citizen to hold the position.

Fox News reached out to the press secretaries of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley, as well as Ilhan Omar's chief of staff, requesting comment on Sears’ win early Wednesday. None of the spokespeople responded to the requests by close of business Wednesday. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for the miracle of Winsome Sears! In her own words, she ran this campaign with a "ragtag" group of volunteers and very little money, but she caught the heart of the people of Virginia, and she WON.

Father God, her story is America's story: that anyone, who is called by You, can run for office in this nation, and WIN! She is the first woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor in our State, AND the first black person (and woman) to serve in that position in the 400 years since the Virginia Assembly first met in Richmond.

Thank You, God, for Winsome Sears. May her story be broadcast across our land,
giving our people HOPE again in the face of the tyranny that has recently gripped our nation. Lord God, nothing is impossible with You - absolutely nothing! In Your Mighty Name, we offer this prayer, amen and amen!
McAuliffe concedes Virginia governor's race to Youngkin
Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) conceded to Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin (R) on Wednesday, hours after Youngkin declared victory.  “Congratulations to Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin on his victory,” McAuliffe said in a statement. “I hope Virginians will join me in wishing the best to him and his family."

Youngkin narrowly defeated McAuliffe by roughly 2 points on Tuesday. In the same statement, McAuliffe pushed for a number of the liberal initiatives he highlighted during the campaign.

"While last night we came up short, I am proud that we spent this campaign fighting for the values we so deeply believe in. We must protect Virginia's great public schools and invest in our students," McAuliffe said. (The Hill) Read more.

In New Jersey:
Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy ekes out win over GOP challenger Ciattarelli

Democrat New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will hang onto his job by a thread Wednesday after a nail-biter of an election against GOP candidate Jack Ciattarelli.

The Associated Press called the race for the incumbent Wednesday after Ciattarelli carried a lead of just over 1,000 votes overnight. But the remaining ballots allowed Murphy to close that gap and remain the governor of the Garden State, despite a political environment that led to several major upsets for Republicans Tuesday, including in the Virginia governor's race.

But the move to call the race was met with resistance from the Ciattarelli campaign, who argued it was "irresponsible" to make the call so quickly. (Fox News) Read more.

Volcano fires molten 'lava bombs' as scientists watch in awe
Scientists observing the erupting volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma captured video of one of the most sensational images to be captured on camera yet.

Geochemist Harri Geiger was on the Spanish island of La Palma in the final days of October witnessing the power of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. The volcano was erupting at what appeared to be a safe distance, but as Geiger and others watched, a piece of the volcano came racing down the mountainside, slowing to a stop just yards away from his feet.

This wasn’t just any rock, it was a molten lava bomb.

Geiger's video showed the lava bomb tumbling down the side of the mountain, glowing orange as it gathered volcanic dust.

At a glance, the outside looks like a normal rock found in the vicinity of a volcano, but after closer inspection, the rocks are alive on the inside with partially molten lava. Read More

12 States Sue Biden Admin for Withdrawing Trump's Partial Defunding of Planned Parenthood
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is leading 11 other states to stop President Joe Biden from expanding funding to Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities. A lawsuit filed October 25 asks a federal judge to block the Biden administration from reopening Title X “family planning funds” access to Planned Parenthood and other abortion organizations.

President Donald Trump instituted the Protect Life Rule in 2019 that prohibits abortion vendors from receiving Title X “family planning” dollars if they commit abortions. Title X recipients are also barred from referring patients for abortions. Biden rescinded the rule in October. But his decision did not follow the proper rule-making requirements, according to the federal lawsuit.

The new Biden rule “unlawfully permits funds appropriated under Title X of the Public Health Service Act to be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning,” Yost said in his request for a preliminary injunction. This is not the first time the Biden administration has faced criticism for potentially violating rule-making procedures. ALERT FROM ISRAEL
Israel Fast Becoming Police State: New Legislation, if Passed: Knesset to Transfer Legislative Powers to the Government, Giving it Full Power to Exercise Control
Wednesday November 3 2021: Israel fast becoming police state: New legislation before Parliament set to make Green Pass vaccine passport requirement for entry to supermarkets, refusal to take Covid test will be a crime, emergency powers of Prime Minister will extended for an entire year, Knesset will no longer vote on laws.
A bill before Israel’s Knesset (Parliament) would extend the validity of the Special Authorities for Dealing with Covid until the end of December 2022, and amend the law to grant government authority to obligate Covid tests and mete criminal penalties for noncompliance.

The bill proposes to extend the Special Authorities validity until the end of 2022 “to continue to enable legal infrastructure for imposing restrictions and maintaining public health.” It seeks to determine that Covid state of emergency declarations be extended from two to four months each.

The bill would add a clause authorizing the government to obligate presenting a negative coronavirus test, recovery certificate (“which includes a valid recovery or vaccination certificate”) as a condition for entering places that are open to the public, businesses, workplaces, and more. “This section is intended to anchor the authority to require a test or Green Pass,” “without detracting from the authority already given to establish these regulations.”

It is proposed to delete the list of ministers who are members of the Ministerial Committee to deal with the coronavirus crisis and its implications, and instead determine that the number of its members should not exceed half the number of members of the government.
