Senate passes landmark bill protecting same-sex marriage
|
|
The Senate passed landmark legislation on Tuesday that would provide federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriage, moving it one step closer to becoming law.
The upper chamber voted 61 to 36, with 12 Republicans joining all Democrats in passing the legislation. The bill will now head back to the House of Representatives, where lawmakers will need to pass an amended version before it reaches President Joe Biden's desk.
The Respect for Marriage Act does not codify same-sex marriage protections. Instead, it recognizes marriage between two people regardless of their “sex, race, ethnicity or national origin.” The legislation does not require any state to permit same-sex couples to marry but does require all states to recognize any marriage that was legal in the state where it took place, under the U.S. Constitution’s full faith and credit clause. The legislation also repeals the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996, which defined “marriage” as between a man and a woman. (Washington Examiner) Read more.

- Father God, in a moment like this, we decree that we fear only You, Holy One, and not man. We ask You to forgive all who have voted for this bill, and we trust You that Your hand of protection will yet rest upon us and upon our children. In Your Name, amen and amen.

Iran publishes list of 'sensitive' sites in Israel to strike in future war
|
|
Under the guise of reporting on reports by Beirut-based Al Mayadeen, a pan-Arabist satellite news channel, media outlets close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have published a list of “sensitive” sites that could be targeted in a future war. The reports listed a number of buildings and sites in Israel in what was clearly intended as a threat.
The article included a list of sites in Israel, such as the Knesset, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Defense Ministry. It included what Tasnim characterized as “nuclear sites and facilities.” In the list of “warehouses” and facilities, the report included a Rafael Advanced Defense Systems site in Haifa, the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. 1. Lapid to world leaders: Stop Palestinian push to refer conflict to The Hague - Times of Israel
Outgoing Prime Minister Yair Lapid asked dozens of world leaders on Monday to dissuade the Palestinians from moving forward in their effort to refer the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the International Court of Justice.
In a letter sent to more than 50 countries, Lapid called the Palestinian campaign, which included a United Nations committee vote earlier this month, “a concerted effort to single out Israel, to discredit our legitimate security concerns, and to delegitimize our very existence.”
The November 11 resolution, titled “Israeli practices and settlement activities affecting the rights of the Palestinian people and other Arabs of the occupied territories,” passed the UN General Assembly Fourth Committee with 98 in favor, 17 opposed and 52 abstentions. (Read more)

2. IDF, Shin Bet Warn Knesset Members to Expect Rise in Terror Attacks - Jewish Press
Senior members of the IDF and Shin Bet intelligence agency warned new Knesset lawmakers Tuesday to expect more terror attacks, according to a report Tuesday night by Hebrew-language journalist Yaron Abraham at Israel’s Channel 12 News.
The defense establishment officials issued the warning at a closed-door hearing of the temporary Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee headed by Likud MK and former IDF Chief of Staff Yoav Galant.
According to the report, the officials voiced – individually and together – a pessimistic forecast regarding the current wave of terror that began this past March during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. (Read more)

5. Antisemitic Books Pushing ‘Ritual Murder’ Myth On Display At Prestigious Fair in Poland - Algemeiner
Crudely antisemitic books promoting Holocaust denial and depicting Jews as usurers have been showcased at a prestigious book fair in Poland that enjoys the backing of the country’s president.
Titles published by the far-right Polish imprint 3DOM — a play on the English word “freedom” — were on display at the Historical Book Fair in Warsaw, an event that is officially supported by the office of President Andzrej Duda.
Describing itself as “patriotic,” “Catholic,” and the “most politically incorrect” publishing house in Poland, 3DOM advertises more than 80 blatantly antisemitic works on its website, according to research carried out by the “Never Again” Association, a Polish NGO. (Read more)

1. Iran rejects U.N. investigation into protests - Reuters
Iran will reject a newly-appointed independent U.N. investigation into the country's repression of anti-government protests, the foreign ministry said on Monday, as demonstrations showed no sign of abating.
"Iran will have no cooperation with the political committee formed by the U.N. Rights Council," ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said. The U.N. Rights Council voted on Thursday to appoint a probe into Iran's deadly crackdown on protests.
Volker Turk, the U.N. rights commissioner, had earlier demanded that Iran end its "disproportionate" use of force in quashing protests that erupted after the death in custody of 22-year old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini on Sept. 16. Activist news agency HRANA said 450 protesters had been killed in more than two months of nationwide unrest as of Nov. 26, including 63 minors. It said 60 members of the security forces had been killed, and 18,173 protesters detained. (Read more)

2. Non-binary Biden nuclear official charged with stealing woman's luggage at airport - Fox News
Sam Brinton, a senior Energy Department (DOE) official, was charged with stealing a traveler's luggage in the Minneapolis airport in September, shortly before quietly taking a leave of absence.
Brinton — who serves as the DOE's deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition — allegedly took a Vera Bradley suitcase worth $2,325 from the luggage carousel at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport (MSP) on Sept. 16, according to a criminal complaint filed on Oct. 26 in Minnesota state court and obtained by Fox News Digital. Brinton had traveled from Washington, D.C., to MSP that day.
After the suitcase's owner alerted police, officers reviewed video surveillance of the carousel and identified Brinton taking the luggage before removing its tag identifying the owner, the court filings stated. Law enforcement observed Brinton using the luggage during at least two other trips to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 18 and Oct. 9.
Then, on Oct. 9, Brinton denied stealing anything when a police officer called to discuss the incident. Brinton confirmed still possessing the suitcase. (Read more)

3. Wisconsin Children’s Hospital Is Stacking Its Bench Of Chaplains With Trans Activists - The Federalist
Wisconsin’s premier children’s hospital has had its fair share of scandal, particularly with regard to religious liberty and leadership, but the bar just keeps getting lower: Children’s Wisconsin is now hiring trans activists as chaplains and “spiritual care interns.”
Children’s staff members were first notified of such new hires when fliers were posted around the inpatient units advertising, “Meet Your New Chaplain: Kate Newendorp.” The first tip-off to Newendorp’s beliefs about the sexes was featured prominently on the posters, with a proclamation of her pronouns as “she/her/hers” and those of her fiance, a female who goes by “they/he.”
Despite biblical Christian doctrine affirming the sanctity and humanity of life in the womb, the existence of only two distinct sexes, and the immorality of same-sex relations in both the Old and New Testaments, the new “chaplain” proudly rejects all of this.
“Love Jesus. Be gay. Get ordained,” she wrote on Facebook in June, with pictures of herself in rainbow garb. (Read more)

4. Biden urges Congress to step in to avert a looming rail strike - Yahoo News
President Biden on Monday urged Congress to step in and pass legislation to avert an economically damaging rail strike. In September, Biden and his administration brokered a compromise deal between 12 rail worker unions and rail companies, but workers at four of the 12 unions rejected that deal, teeing up a strike by all 12 unions as soon as Dec. 9.
"As a proud pro-labor president, I am reluctant to override the ratification procedures and the views of those who voted against the agreement," Biden said in a statement. "But in this case — where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions of other working people and families — I believe Congress must use its powers to adopt this deal." A rail shutdown "would devastate our economy," he said, and Congress should pass legislation to adopt the September deal "without any modifications or delay."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) responded that "this week, the House will take up a bill adopting the tentative agreement — with no poison pills or changes to the negotiated terms — and send it to the Senate." What will happen in the evenly divided Senate is less clear, though business lobbying groups have been pushing lawmakers in both parties to intervene. (Read more)

5. Washington Post critic praises play questioning public scorn of pedophiles, writes 'brilliant' - Just The News
Washington Post theater critic has published a review praising the play "Downstate," which criticizes the treatment of pedophiles. The play is from Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Bruce Norris and focuses on four men living in a group home in downstate Illinois as they "eke out marginal existences in menial jobs and managed routines," according to a review written last week by theater critic Peter Marks.
"'Downstate' is a play about pedophiles. It’s also brilliant," writes Marks who also suggests that convicted predators are "depicted not as monsters but rather as complicated, troubled souls.” The play shows "that the punishments inflicted on some pedophiles are so harsh and unrelenting as to be inhumane," he writes.
The New York Times published a review earlier this month focusing on the "tension" and "charm" in "Downstate.” Daily Wire commentator Tim Meads wrote an editorial criticizing the review.
"Do you ever get the sense that the Left is trying to normalize pedophilia?" he said. (Read more)

- Holy and Just Judge, we cry out over the inhumanity perpetrated upon innocent children by grown men, in Jesus name. We declare STOP! to this effort at garnering sympathy and pity for those who knowingly persecute children for their own sexual gratification. Nevertheless, we will protect and defend children by standing up for them and we declare complete downfall to this "play".

6. House Oversight panel to probe 'hundreds of billions, if not trillions,' in pandemic relief fraud - Just The News
Incoming House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) says he's planning a full investigation into the "hundreds of billions, if not trillions," of dollars in pandemic stimulus fraud.
The U.S. Labor Department's inspector general has estimated that nearly $46 billion in federal pandemic unemployment assistance was stolen via fraudulent claims.
A separate study from August 2021 estimated that about $76 billion or 15% of the forgivable loans issued during the COVID-19 pandemic under the Paycheck Protection Program were fraudulently obtained. As of June, about $10 billion in fraudulently obtained funds had been returned to the federal government. The Secret Service announced in August it recovered $286 million in fraudulent PPP loans. - We pray for this investigation to be performed according to the laws of the land and not be used as a political weapon, in Jesus name. - "'You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.'" (Leviticus 19:15)

7. Biden's fumbled Afghanistan withdrawal was a propaganda gift to China, Defense Department finds - Fox News
President Joe Biden's fumbled withdrawal from Afghanistan was a propaganda gift to China, his Defense Department found Tuesday. The DOD's claim came as part of its annual report to Congress on national security developments relating to China, which it released Tuesday. The report suggests that China capitalized on the withdrawal to convince world leaders that the U.S. is not a reliable ally.
"The PRC employed multiple diplomatic tools in an attempt to erode U.S. and partner influence," the report reads, including "highlighting the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan."
Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan was among the lowest points in his presidency, with 13 soldiers dying in a suicide bombing while protecting the Kabul airport during the evacuation. The report says the PRC is working toward "the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" by 2049 and is also vastly expanding its nuclear arsenal.
Biden defended his handling of the withdrawal both during and after the process, arguing there was no clean way to end U.S. deployment in the region. (Read more)

- Mighty God, the depth of sorrow and outrage upon our nation from this disaster is now compounded by the assurance that our enemy has taken advantage of our foolish action in Afghanistan. We renounce the gossip and accusations being used against us by China. 8. U.S. Consumer Confidence Drops to Deeply Gloomy Level as Christmas Season Starts - Brietbart
The Conference Board’s index of consumer confidence fell to 100.2 in November, the lowest level in four months. The decline reflects growing unease about persistently high inflation and fears of a potential recession.
This was the second straight month of declining confidence. In October, the index fell sharply from 10.7.8 to 102.5, which was the lowest level in three months. The October drop was worse than expected and the November decline was in line with forecasts.
“The combination of inflation and interest rate hikes will continue to pose challenges to confidence and economic growth into early 2023,” said Lynn Franco, senior director of economic indicators at the board. (Read more)

- Lord God, though the economic environment of this nation is plummeting, let those of us who put our trust in You be able to share the peace we have from You with others who are in fear. We know that the affairs of this earth right now are striving for dominance and we who trust in You have been given the power, love and sound mind to change the atmosphere and environment around us. May we be people-changers as we help others cope with these deep challenges.

9. England No Longer a Christian Nation as Atheism and Islam Make Gains – Census - Brietbart
Less than half of people in England and Wales are Christian, the census has revealed, with both atheism and Islam making major gains. The majority of people in both England and Wales are not Christian for the first time probably since the 7th century AD, data from the 2021 census published on Tuesday has revealed.
According to the information released by Britain’s Office of National Statistics, both England and Wales have lost their status as majority-Christian nations, with only 46.3 per cent of the population of England reporting themselves as being Christian, while only 43.6 per cent of the Welsh population now describe themselves as being adherents to a denomination of Christianity.
While the faith still remains the plurality religion in both countries, it is the first time the total percentage of the population who are Christian has dropped below the 50 per cent mark in modern history, and most likely since the British isles were converted and moved away from Paganism 1,300 years ago. The change is even more pronounced when viewed over longer periods, with today’s 46 per cent of those in England professing to be Christian comparing to 71 per cent in 2001, just 20 years ago.
Smaller religions also saw an increase, with the number of self-described pagans in the country growing by over 15,000 adherents since 2011, and the nations seeing an extra 200,000 Hindus and 100,000 Sikhs. (Read more)

- Lord, let a purifying fire be released across England and Wales that will wash and sanctify believers with a passion for souls that has not been seen in many decades. May this be the opportunity to wash out the old and bring a cleansing fire to this land that will draw every religion to the Savior because of His love, His glory, His power and His redemption. Come in like a flood with Your mighty signs, wonders and presence that cannot be ignored, O King.
- "Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him." (Psalm 50:3)

Of Public Health And Tyranny
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, November 29, 2022
Fearmongering in the guise of public health and safety has become a commonplace lever to institute tyranny in America. We are seeing this play out on a daily basis with government policies toward what is considered the many aspects of public health. The government, big business, and the mainstream media continue to collaborate on a fear narrative to control where citizens go, what they can say, even whether they can work in their desired profession—all in the name of protecting citizens from, in COVID’s case, a contagion where statistics indicate there is less than a one percent chance of mortality. But there is even a more sinister movement designed to make everyone comply with government authority.
In 1961, future president Ronald Reagan said, “One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project, most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.” Reagan reasoned that once a government or a tyrannical power has your medical information, it can dictate your life or diminish you. It stands to reason, then, that Reagan would have said, “I told you so” if he had lived long enough to see what has happened in America since Obamacare passed the Senate without a single Republican vote. Volcano begins to erupt in eastern El Salvador
|
|
Authorities in El Salvador are warning residents near the Chaparrastique volcano in the eastern part of the country to be alert as it begins to erupt.
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador -- Authorities in El Salvador on Monday warned residents near the Chaparrastique volcano in the country's east to be alert after it began to erupt.
The Environmental Ministry’s observatory reported explosions in the central crater of the volcano located about 83 miles (135 kilometers) east of the capital. It said the eruption’s intensity was a 1 on a scale from 0 to 8.
The eruption began Sunday when the volcano launched rock and ash to areas surrounding the crater. There were no reported injuries.
Civil Defense Director Luis Alonso Amaya said three municipalities were on alert.
Authorities were preparing 26 shelters that could accommodate more than 10,000 people and installing a command post to provide the most current information on the volcano’s activity.
The safety zone was extended to a radius of 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) from the crater.

A New Sheriff in Town: Musk Targets Child Sex Exploitation on Twitter as 'Priority #1
|
|
For newly minted Twitter CEO and owner Elon Musk, overhauling the controversy-plagued social media site is serious business. And now he says "priority #1" is removing child sexual exploitation content from the platform. Under the helm of former owner Jack Dorsey, Twitter did not put much effort into combating content that promoted the exploitation of children. For example, Eliza Bleu, a survivor of human trafficking and an advocate for victims, tweeted in September that Twitter initially did not remove a video of a 13-year-old boy being exploited–even after the young man reached out to the platform's executives. It took nine days for the company to remove the video and that was largely in part due to the intervention of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security agent, Business Insider reports.
Bleu has been instrumental in calling out the platform for allowing child sex abusers to post content on the site. According to a site named Tesmanian, which follows Musk's many projects and companies, Bleu has been trying to remove child porn on the app for two years while other advocates have been pressuring the platform for more than 10 years. Their efforts have fallen on deaf ears until now. Less than a month after taking over the site, Musk "cleaned out" the three most popular hashtags that had been used to sell child sexual abuse material and added a direct reporting option for child sexual exploitation.
Earlier this week, Bleu tweeted the headline of an opinion article by Donna Rice Hughes published by The Hill that read, "Protecting Children from Sexual Exploitation is a Low Priority for Twitter and DOJ". The article was published before the site was sold to Musk. Musk replied directly to Bleu's tweet writing, "Priority #1". Bleu says the CEO's response to taking down child trafficking material is 'huge' "Ah how suddenly things can change," she tweeted. Twitter's child sexual exploitation policy currently says that it has "zero tolerance towards any material that features or promotes child sexual exploitation, one of the most serious violations of the Twitter Rules." Crown Him With Many Crowns
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words: Matthew Bridges
Music: George Elvey
Scripture: His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. Revelation 19:12
Lyrics:
Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne.
Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee;
And hail Him as thy matchless king
Through all eternity!
Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing,
Who died, and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring,
And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of Heav’n,
Enthroned in worlds above,
Crown Him the king to whom is giv’n
The wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns,
As thrones before Him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns,
For He is king of all.
