House Passes Funding Plan with Overwhelming Democrat Support
|
|
The House passed a continuing resolution Tuesday to extend spending levels from a lame duck session last December by Democratic House and Senate majorities into 2024.
The final tally was 336-95. A whopping 209 Democrats supported the measure, far more than the 127 Republicans in favor.
The two-tiered continuing resolution (CR), called a laddered CR, extends current spending levels for Agriculture, Energy and Water, Military Construction-VA and Transportation-HUD spending bills through January 19, with the remaining eight bills extended through February 2.
Those spending levels and policies were set by Democrats in December 2022 during the lame duck session, after Republicans won a House majority but before new members officially took office in January.
The bill has the support of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and is expected to pass through the Senate on its way to President Biden’s desk by the Friday midnight deadline.
Schumer Monday said he was "pleased” with Speaker Johnson for choosing not to pursue spending cuts or changes to Biden Administration policies in the spending package, calling the bill “a responsible measure.” (Breitbart) Read more here.

‘I’m Gutted’: Congressional Members React To Israeli Military Film Showing Hamas Attacks On October 7
|
|
Members of Congress attended a screening Tuesday of the Israeli military’s footage of the Hamas attacks on Oct. 7 and many of the elected officials were deeply moved by the experience, according to the Jewish Insider.
The 46-minute film compiled by the Israeli military contains body cam and CCTV footage, as well as pictures from social media and victims’ phones, showing the brutal murder of hundreds of Israeli civilians that day. Many elected officials were silent, some crying at the film’s conclusion and Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington left only minutes after it began in tears, according to the Jewish Insider.
“This morning I viewed the horrific footage of Hamas killing, torturing, and kidnapping Israeli civilians,” Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens of Michigan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’m gutted. This is barbarism and an attack on all humanity. We cannot let this ever happen again and we must never forget.”
The film, which the Daily Caller News Foundation had the opportunity to see, shows Hamas killing civilians in their cars, homes and bomb shelters. Many clips included in the film show the terrorists cheering over dead bodies and celebrating the attacks. One Hamas operative calls his parents and tells his father to open WhatsApp to “see how many [Jews] I killed with my bare hands.”
Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Tuesday that the auditorium where the screening was held was so quiet “you could have heard a pin drop,” according to The Hill.
“We had a large group of Republican and Democrat House members in the auditorium this morning, and you could have heard a pin drop — except for the sighs and the cries in the room because the video would make anyone with a soul cry,” Johnson said. (Daily Caller)

Planes, trains and bus caravans: US Jews descend on Washington for pro-Israel rally

On Monday morning, Margie Maidman boarded a caravan of 10 buses from Boston to Washington, DC, headed to a massive demonstration in support of Israel and against antisemitism.
The journey is eight hours each way, and most of the people on her bus, like her, are in their 60s and 70s. It isn’t the first time she’s gone to the National Mall to attend a mass rally. In 1987, she was one of more than 200,000 people to descend on Washington for another cause trumpeted by a wide range of Jewish activists: advocacy for Jews in the Soviet Union.
“The last time I did something like this was in the late 1980s,” Maidman, whose transport is organized by her local Jewish federation, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “Aside from maybe women’s rights in Boston or something, I have not really been part of something on this scale.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

1. Gantz: We will kill Hamas leaders ‘in Gaza and around the world’ -JNS
Israel will kill Hamas leaders responsible for the Oct. 7 massacre “in Gaza and around the world,” Benny Gantz, minister-without-portfolio in the War Cabinet, said on Wednesday.
“There will be no sanctuary cities, no sanctuary houses. We will go wherever we need to in order to eradicate child murderers—above and below ground, in Gaza and around the world,” the former defense minister and IDF chief declared in a press statement delivered in Tel Aviv.
“We will reach the heads of [the Hamas] government just as we reached the centers of [that] government,” Gantz said.
The Hamas leaders on Israel’s radar include the terrorist organization’s politburo head Ismail Haniyeh, chief in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, “military” wing commander Mohammed Deif, “military” wing deputy commander Marwan Issa, “military” wing boss in Judea and Samaria Saleh al-Arouri and former politburo chief Khaled Mashaal. 2. UN Security Council calls for ‘humanitarian pauses’ in Gaza - Israel National News
The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday approved a resolution calling for “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses to the Gaza war”.
The resolution passed by a 12-0 vote, with three countries abstaining - the United States, Great Britain and Russia.
The US, which has veto power in the Security Council, said it supported the resolution but did not vote for it because it failed to condemn Hamas. (Read more)

3. UN envoy declares Israel’s right to defend itself ‘non-existent’ - World Israel News
Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Territories, declared that Israel’s right to defend itself, even against the Hamas atrocities on October 7th, is “non-existent.”
Speaking to the National Press Club in Canberra, Australia on Tuesday, Albanese said, “Israel cannot claim the right of self-defense against a threat that emanates from a territory it occupies, from a territory that is under belligerent occupation.”
Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005 and removed all of its citizens from the area. The Hamas atrocities on October 7th occurred on territory that has been recognized as an integral part of Israel since its founding in 1948.
Albanese did acknowledge that Israel did have a right to respond or prevent the attack, but these activities would be limited to efforts to “establish law and order, to repel the attack, neutralize whomever was carrying out the attacks…not waging war.” (Read more)

4. Over 20 rockets fired from Lebanon toward Israel, IDF strikes Hezbollah - Jerusalem Post
Over 20 rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Kiryat Shmona, Matat, Shlomit, and other areas along the Lebanese-Israeli border on Wednesday, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit. Hezbollah took responsibility for the rocket fire toward Kiryat Shmona.
The IDF responded to the rocket fire with artillery fire targeting several sites in southern Lebanon, including a Hezbollah observation point.
Hezbollah additionally stated that it targeted an IDF post along the border near Mount Dov, another post near Yir'on, another post near Meiss al-Jabal, another post near Rmaych, and an additional post near Boustane on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The IDF has not confirmed the reports as of yet.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib met with Iran's ambassador in Lebanon Mojtaba Amani on Wednesday, telling him that "Israel is not defending itself today, but rather its obsession is blind revenge." (Read more)

5. Leading German Philosopher Jürgen Habermas Declares Support for Israel, Opposition to Resurgent Antisemitism - Algemeiner
One of Germany’s most storied political theorists has issued a statement supporting Israel’s military response to the Hamas atrocities of Oct. 7, decrying as well the surge of antisemitism in Germany during the intervening period.
“The current situation, created by the cruel attack by Hamas and Israel’s response to it, has led to a cascade of moral and political statements and demonstrations,” Jürgen Habermas observed in the statement published on Monday on the website “Normative Orders,” which is devoted to philosophy and social theory. As well as Habermas, the scholars Nicole Deitelhoff, Rainer Forst, and Klaus Guenther all endorsed the statement.
“We believe that with all the conflicting views that are expressed, there are some principles that should not be disputed. They underlie the well-understood solidarity with Israel and Jews in Germany,” the statement continued. (Read more)

1. Vatican says trans people can be baptized, serve as godparents 'under certain conditions' - Christian Post
The Vatican's doctrinal office issued a document earlier this week explaining that trans-identified individuals can be baptized and serve as godparents in some circumstances.
The three-page document, which was approved by Pope Francis on Oct. 31 and posted online in Portuguese and Italian on Wednesday, came in response to Brazilian Bishop Jose Negri's request for clarity from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in July regarding the role of LGBT people in baptism and matrimony.
The guidance, which was signed by Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernandéz, stipulated that people who have undergone transgender surgical procedures or taken cross-sex hormones can be baptized provided "there are no situations in which there is a risk of generating public scandal or disorientation among the faithful." 2. FBI accused of targeting Trump types; agents who served in military deemed ‘disloyal’ - Washington Times
More whistleblowers have stepped forward to tell Congress that high-ranking FBI officials are targeting agents, specifically former military members, for their political beliefs and trying to force them out of the bureau.
A Marine and other military veterans at the FBI have been accused of disloyalty to the U.S. because they fit the profile of a supporter of former President Donald Trump, according to two disclosures sent to lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee.
The whistleblower disclosures say Mr. Veltri and Ms. Perkins either declared or attempted to declare the Marine and other veterans as “disloyal to the United States of America.” “In these cases there was no indication that any of the individuals had any affiliation to a foreign power or held any belief against the United States,” it said. 3. DOJ busts 'high-end' brothel network used by politicians, military officers - The Christian Post
Three individuals who enticed women to participate in a prostitution network have been arrested for operating "high-end brothels" in Massachusetts and Virginia with a clientele that included elected officials, high-tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers and government contractors who possess security clearances.
The three suspects — Han Lee of Cambridge, Massachusetts; James Lee of Torrance, California; and Junmyung Lee of Dedham, Massachusetts — have been charged with conspiracy to coerce and entice to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
According to charging documents, the defendants operated the interstate prostitution network with multiple brothels in Cambridge and Watertown, Massachusetts, as well as Farifx and Tysons, Virginia, since at least July 2020. The defendants established the "infrastructure for brothels in multiple states which they used to persuade, induce and entice women — primarily Asian women — to travel to Massachusetts and Virginia to engage in prostitution," a statement from the U.S. Justice Department reads. 4. The Inevitable Takeover: Digital Identity And Total Control Is Coming - Prophecy News Watch
The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached a final agreement this week on the establishment of "European Digital Identity Wallets," the first central and fully digital identification system for all Europeans.
"Under the new law, the EU will offer its citizens so-called 'digital wallets'--on a voluntary basis, at first--which will contain digital versions of their ID cards, driving licenses, diplomas, medical records, and bank account information," the European Conservative reported.
"This marks an important step towards the Digital Decade 2030 targets on the digitalization of public services," the EU Commission said in a statement Wednesday. The United Nations has made no secret of it's plans to have a global digital identity as part of it's Sustainable Development Goals set forth in Agenda 2030. Some of the more controversial technologies already being talked about for maintaining such a digital ID system are chip implants that can be inserted into someone in chip form. (Read more)

5. Biden Giving Your Tax Money To US Mosques That Seek Total Annihilation Of Jews - Prophecy News Watch
A federal program intended to help religious organizations defend against terror attacks has been used by the Biden administration to give hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax dollars to organizations that openly seek the annihilation of Jews.
An investigation conducted by the Washington Free Beacon revealed, for example, Biden gave to the Flint Islamic Center $300,000 under the program, even as an Islamic scholar there claimed Jews "literally live for the purpose of genocide" of Palestinians.
Such issues are becoming more and more significant in light of the atrocity-filled attack launched by Hamas terrorists on Israel last month, in which 1,400 civilians were slaughtered, including babies beheaded and whole families burned alive. (Read more)

6. Teachers Unions Across U.S. Keep Getting Caught Up In Pro-Hamas Activism - Prophecy News Watch
In the wake of the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel in early October, several teachers unions and their affiliates have attracted scrutiny by expressing pro-Hamas sentiments.
Protests in favor of Palestinians and Hamas have erupted across the U.S. after the attacks on Israel, with many using imagery associated with terrorism and violent anti-Israeli rhetoric. Major teachers unions in the U.S. are affiliated with anti-Israel organizations, while teachers unions or their employees have explicitly justified Hamas' violence.
One of the websites linked to BLM at School's Palestinian resource kit is called Decolonize Palestine, which says it's a "myth" that Israel is a democracy. Another website it recommends is Rethinking Schools, a social justice teaching resource website, which recommends teaching about the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that advocates for divesting funds and support from Israel.
"Palestinians are reminding us that decolonization is not a metaphor or abstraction, but requires real, daily struggle," BLM at School's website reads. (Read more)

We ask Lord that the truth would be exposed, that justice would be served in this situation. 7. Biden admin renews sanctions waiver giving Iran access to $10 billion from Iraq - New York Post
The Biden administration has extended a sanctions waiver that will grant Iran access to roughly $10 billion from Iraq in exchange for electricity purchases.
The 120-day waiver, signed by Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, is identical to one issued in July, but comes amid increased attacks against US forces by Iranian proxies and just over a month after Iran-backed terror group Hamas slaughtered 1,200 people in Israel on Oct. 7.
Under the conditions of the waiver, Iran will receive nearly $10 billion being held in escrow accounts in Iraq that may only be used for humanitarian trade, US officials told the Associated Press.
The waiver extension will also allow the Iranian regime to transfer the electricity payments to accounts in Oman, which can then be converted to other currencies for the Islamic Republic to purchase non-sanctioned products, according to the outlet. (Read more)

8. Donald Trump seeks mistrial in ‘tainted’ fraud case — citing judge’s ‘overwhelming’ bias - New York Post
Donald Trump argued that the $250 million civil fraud trial against him is “tainted” by “overwhelming” bias by the Manhattan judge deciding his fate as he made a motion for a mistrial on Wednesday.
“In this case, the evidence of apparent and actual bias is tangible and overwhelming,” Trump lawyers Clifford Robert and Alina Habba wrote in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday morning just before the 28th day of trial began.
Such evidence, coupled with an unprecedented departure from standard judicial procedure, has tainted these proceedings and a mistrial is warranted,” the papers continued.
Trump, 77, claims the trial has been rife with biased rulings from Justice Arthur Engoron and has unfairly included “co-judging” by the judge’s principal law clerk, Allison Greenfield. (Read more)
- Lord God, we agree that judges with such biased opinions of certain individuals should not get to judge them in these cases. We come against this right now in the spirit, in the mighty name of Jesus. We know we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood and that this is a spiritual battle. So we apply the blood of Jesus over this case we declare that truth and justice will be served, and that no improper judgment will be had , in Jesus' name, amen.

Stupidocrisy: Biden Designating Terrorists
As Humanitarians

On November 8, the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists shot down a $30 million MQ-9 Reaper US drone over international waters, the third such drone that the Houthi terrorists have downed since 2019. The Houthis, also known as “Ansarallah,” came to power in Yemen during the Obama-supported Arab Spring uprisings that destabilized much of the Middle East in favor of terrorist-supporting governments. The Houthi slogan is “Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse the Jews, Victory for Islam. Under the Trump Administration, the Houthis were designated as a terrorist organization. One of Joe Biden’s first acts was to revoke the terrorist designation and redesignate the Houthis as a humanitarian organization.
Biden’s Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken said in February 2021 that the decision “is a recognition of the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen,” and “The revocations are intended to ensure that relevant U.S. policies do not impede assistance to those already suffering what has been called the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.” Blinken also stated: “The United States remains clear-eyed about Ansarallah’s malign actions, and aggression, including taking control of large areas of Yemen by force, attacking U.S. partners in the Gulf, kidnapping and torturing citizens of the United States and many of our allies, diverting humanitarian aid, brutally repressing Yemenis in areas they control, and the deadly attack on December 30, 2020 in Aden against the cabinet of the legitimate government of Yemen.” Even so, Biden sent money to the Houthi, believing it to reach the needy. Weekend of Prayer For Zion's Sake
Dear ACLI leaders,
Yesterday was a phenomenal day in Washington, DC, as 290,000 gathered on the National Mall at the March for Israel rally. For those who were able to join us, thank you. I hope the day was as momentous for you as it was for me. Our presence mattered to Israel and the Jewish community, as well. We were stopped multiple times by Jewish participants expressing their heartfelt gratitude to us.
This battle is not yet over, though. Israeli soldiers are still on the front lines in Gaza, and more than 200 hostages are still being held captive by Hamas. It’s time to stand with them in prayer, as well, and The Weekend of Prayer for Zion’s Sake is just around the corner.
From November 17 to 19, congregations and synagogues across the United States will cry out to God on behalf of Israel and the hostages. Never before have Jewish and Christian communities come together worldwide in a prayer movement spanning multiple Christian and Jewish denominations and networks.
During your regularly scheduled services, commit your congregation to a time of prayer for Israel and the release of the hostages according to Isaiah 62:1: "For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace." Let them and us know you are praying by confirming your participation here. You are also encouraged to phone your local synagogues and tell them you are praying for Israel that weekend. It will encourage them to know they have you as a friend and partner.
We have developed resources to assist you this weekend, including social media graphics, a sample prayer, a touching video of the mother of one of the hostages, and more.
It is our hope that a weekend of concentrated prayer in unity with the Jewish community will bring about a breakthrough in Israel's situation and the release of the hostages. Thank you in advance for your participation.

November's best meteor shower is about to peak. Here's how to see it
|

The annual Leonid meteor shower will kick off the weekend with a flurry of shooting stars, an event that has a rich history dating back to the 1800s.
The upcoming weekend will kick off with another opportunity to spot shooting stars in the night sky as one of the last meteor showers of 2023 unfolds in the heavens.
Friday night into Saturday morning will be the best night for viewing the annual Leonids, the last meteor shower before the start of meteorological winter on Dec. 1.
A typical showing is expected this year, but the Leonids have a rich history, including one of the most captivating celestial sights that takes place only once in a generation.
What will the Leonid meteor shower be like this year?
Onlookers with a clear sky on Friday night can expect to see around 15 meteors per hour on peak night, a typical rate for many meteor showers throughout the year.
