US to Send 1,500 Troops to Southern Border Ahead of Expected Surge of Illegal Immigrants
|
|
The United States will be sending troops to the southern border with Mexico, the White House announced on May 2.
The move was unveiled ahead of an expected surge of illegal immigrants as pandemic restrictions, known as Title 42, are set to lift on May 11.
The southern border has been hammered over the past two years by an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants, leaving border control authorities struggling to keep up with limited resources.
Pentagon Press Secretary Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed in a Tuesday press conference that the Pentagon would be sending 1,500 U.S. military personnel “to supplement” Border Patrol resources for 90 days. Ryder suggested this could be extended as the need arises.
These 1,500 troops “will fill critical capability gaps, such as ground-based detection and monitoring, data entry, and warehouse support until CBP [Customs and Border Protection] can address these needs through contracted support.”
“Military personnel will not directly participate in law enforcement activities,” Ryder added. (Epoch Times) Read more

Tucker Carlson Gets $100 Million Offer From Patrick Bet-David
|
|
Patrick Bet-David, CEO of online content company Valuetainment, offered former Fox News host Tucker Carlson a $100 million deal over five years, plus a board seat at the company, in a high-profile courting attempt on Tuesday.
“Dear Tucker, I’ll get right to the point. We want you to partner with us in what we feel is a noble and necessary effort to define the future of media,” David, who also hosts the Valuetainment brand’s podcast, wrote in the opening of the letter of intent posted on Twitter on May 2.
The letter outlines David’s offer to Carlson: $100 million over five years, an equity stake in Valuetainment, a position as the President of Valuetainment, a board seat, and other content Carlson may be interested in covering.
“What else? We are all ears,” David wrote. “Our convictions about freedom, liberty, and truth run deep and we believe we are the absolute right fit for you and America.”
With a motto of “to enlighten, entertain and empower,” Valuetainment currently publishes its content, including podcasts and interviews, on YouTube and other social media platforms. Its YouTube channel has over 4 million subscribers, and its social media platforms, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, have a following of over 10 million. The brand’s podcast, PBD Podcast, ranks 12th on Spotify in the platform’s business category as of writing.
In an interview with talk show host Megyn Kelly on Tuesday, David, a refugee who fled from Iran to America at the age of 12, said Carlson should work with him because he has “the vision in place, the cause in place, and is a true believer on how great of a country America is that is worth fighting for.”

1. Anonymous Sudan says it hacked Israeli rocket alerts, Iron Dome warning - Jerusalem Post
The hacker group Anonymous Sudan claimed to have hacked Israeli rocket warning systems, including for the Iron Dome, on Tuesday amid a barrage of rocketsfired from the Gaza Strip, and warned it would do so again should more rockets be launched.
The hacker group said on its Telegram channel that it had succeeded in taking down the websites of the rocket warning services Cumta, Red Alert, Halamish and Evigilo, as well as targeting some of their smartphone apps.
All four sites are still down at the time of writing, though smartphone apps seem to be functional.
It further said that it had taken down so many alert systems that the Iron Dome, Israel's primary air defense system, wasn't getting its full alerts, thus preventing it from intercepting everything. (Read more)

2. Army reportedly looking into why Iron Dome missing missiles - Times of Israel
The Israel Defense Forces is looking into why the Iron Dome air defense system appears to have struggled to keep missiles from hitting cities, Ynet reports.
Gazan terrorists fired 22 rockets at Israel during Tuesday’s barrage. Five rockets slammed into populated areas of Sderot and other areas, according to police, while four were shot down by Iron Dome and the rest landed in open areas. The army does not attempt to intercept rockets headed for unpopulated areas.
If confirmed, the apparent success rate of 44% would mark among the worst-ever performances by the highly vaunted system. During a brief but intense flare-up in August 2022, during which the Islamic Jihad terror group shot some 1,100 rockets, the system managed an interception rate of 96%, its highest ever, according to Ynet. "Israel is working on space warfare capabilities," CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries Boaz Levy revealed in an interview with Israel Hayom on the occasion of the company's 70th anniversary.
He said that the challenges developing around Israel, especially from Iran, are demanding, but that Israel currently possesses the ability to respond, and is busy with "always staying a step or two ahead."
The last few years have been very profitable for the aerospace industry in particular, and defense industries in general, as the outbreak of the Ukraine war created plenty of opportunities in the field. Western Europe is concerned about the possibility of a larger war, for the first time since World War II, which has led to a significant increase in defense budgets and the procurement of various weapons. 4. Israeli experts create AI to translate ancient cuneiform text - study - Israel Hayom
Experts in Assyriology – who specialize in the archaeological, historical, cultural and linguistic study of Assyria and the rest of ancient Mesopotamia (Iraq) –spend many years painstakingly trying to understand Akkadian texts written in cuneiform, one of the oldest forms of writing known.
Cuneiform is translated as “wedge-shaped” because in ancient times, people wrote it using a reed stylus cut to make a wedge-shaped mark on a clay tablet.
But now, researchers at Tel Aviv University (TAU) and Ariel University have developed an artificial intelligencemodel that will save all this effort. The AI model can automatically translate Akkadian text written in cuneiform into English. (Read more)

5. After tense night: Reports of ceasefire in the Gaza Strip - Israel National News
Arab media reported early Wednesday morning that an agreement had been reached on a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Arab factions.
According to the reports, the ceasefire agreement came into effect at 4:00 a.m. local time.
A Palestinian Arab source told Al-Jazeerathat the ceasefire should come into effect at the same time and is "conditional on the commitment of both sides." An Egyptian TV channel reported that "the agreement has entered into force - and is conditional on Israel's commitment." (Read more)

1. North Carolina Supreme Court sides with GOP lawmakers in congressional map dispute - The Washington Times
The North Carolina Supreme Court sided with Republican lawmakers in a dispute over the state’s congressional map, nixing a court-drawn map as it overruled a previous court ruling.
The previous ruling said the state GOP lawmakers had gerrymandered their map of congressional and legislative districts.
After Republicans took control of the state’s highest court, however, the new GOP-majority bench reheard the dispute in a rare move. Then it issued a decision saying courts should stay out of the political process.
“We are designed to be a government of the people, not of the judges. At its heart, this case is about recognizing the proper limits of judicial power,” he added. North Carolina Justice Anita Earls dissented, arguing that the majority opinion manipulated principles of democracy. (Read more)

2. 1 in 4 high school students identifies as LGBTQ - The Hill
About 1 in 4 high school students identifies as LGBTQ, according to a report the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released on Thursday, using data from 2021.
In 2021, 75.5 percent of high school students identified as heterosexual, the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) found.
Among high school students, 12.2 percent identified as bisexual, 5.2 percent as questioning, 3.9 percent as other, 3.2 percent as gay or lesbian and 1.8 percent said they didn’t understand the question.
The CDC says the number of LGBTQ students went from 11 percent in 2015 to 26 percent in 2021. (Read more)

3. World Bank board elects US nominee Ajay Banga as president - Reuters
The World Bank's board of governors on Wednesday elected former Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga to a five-year term as president, ushering in an Indian-born finance and development expert to revamp the lender to tackle climate change and other global crises.
Banga, 63, was nominated for the post by U.S. President Joe Biden in late February and was the sole contender to replace departing World Bank chief David Malpass, an economist and former U.S. Treasury official who served in the Trump administration. He starts the new job on June 2.
The election came after World Bank board members interviewed Banga for four hours on Monday. Malpass' last day at the bank will be June 1. The decision came in a vote by 24 of the board's members, with Russia abstaining, instead of the usual consensus-based process, a source familiar with the process said.
Biden congratulated Banga on his "resounding approval" to run the World Bank, which he described as "one of humanity’s most critical institutions to reduce poverty and expand prosperity around the globe." (Read more)

Democratic megadonor and LinkedIn Co-founder Reid Hoffman planned to visit deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s private island on two occasions in 2014, documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) show.
Hoffman and former MIT Media Lab Director Joi Ito were scheduled to visit Epstein’s private island Little St. James in March and November 2014, the documents show. Epstein planned for them to travel to Palm Beach before the second island visit and fly to Boston after the weekend at his island, WSJ reported.
In December 2014, Epstein arranged for Hoffman to stay at his Manhattan townhouse after a late flight into New York City. A breakfast party with Epstein, Hoffman, Bill Gates and others was scheduled for the next morning, the documents show. (Read more)

5. Prosecutors near charging decision in Hunter Biden case - The Washington Post
Prosecutors are nearing a decision on whether to charge President Biden’s son Hunter with tax- and gun-related violations, according to people familiar with the matter, the culmination of a four-year investigation that Republicans have sought to portray as evidence the Biden family is corrupt.
Biden’s attorneys met at Justice Department headquarters in downtown Washington last week to discuss the case with U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, according to the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing criminal investigation. Typically, that sort of meeting — in which defense lawyers urge prosecutors not to seek an indictment of their client, or to seek reduced charges — comes toward the end of an investigation.
The people familiar with the matter said Weiss is nearing the end of his decision-making process, although they offered no specific timetable. They cautioned that the probe has taken longer than some officials thought it would, frustrating some law enforcement officials, and conceivably could slow down again before a decision has been reached. 6. GOP subpoenas FBI Director Wray for details on alleged 'criminal scheme' - Washington Examiner
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) issued a subpoena to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday, ordering him to hand over a bureau form that allegedly describes a “criminal scheme” involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and an unnamed “foreign national.”
Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, described the reasoning behind the subpoena in a letter sent to Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland. The letter was authored jointly with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Comer and Grassley, who are both leading investigations into Hunter Biden and the Biden family generally, did not provide many specifics on the wrongdoing being alleged.
“We have received legally protected and highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures,” the congressman and senator told Wray and Garland. “Based on those disclosures, it has come to our attention that the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions. 7. N.Y. ditches gas stoves, fossil fuels in new buildings in first statewide ban in U.S. - Washington Post
New York has become the first state in the nation to pass a law banning natural gas and other fossil fuels in most new buildings, a move that could help reshape how Americans heat and cook in their homes in the coming decades.
Late Tuesday, the New York legislature approved a $229 billion state budget that will prohibit natural gas hookups and other fossil fuels in most new homes and other construction, a major victory for climate activists. The move, which will likely face a court challenge from the fossil fuel industry, will serve as a test of states’ power to ban fossil fuels outright, rather than simply encouraging developers to build low-carbon buildings.
The law effectively requires all-electric heating and cooking in new buildings shorter than seven stories by 2026, and in 2029 for taller buildings. And although it allows exemptions for manufacturing facilities, restaurants, hospitals and even carwashes, the measure does not do what some climate activists had feared: give cities and counties license to override the ban. 8. EU Backs Dutch Scheme to Forcibly Shut Down Thousands of Farms, - Brietbart
The European Commission in Brussels has backed a scheme by the globalist government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte in the Netherlands that would see thousands of farms shut down in order to comply with EU climate goals.
On Tuesday, the governing arm of the European Union officially threw its support behind plans by the Dutch government to buy out thousands of farmers from their lands in order to meet the EU’s Natura 2000 scheme to protect certain environments. The plan, which would offer farmers 120 per cent of the value of their farm, could see some 3,000 so-called “peak” emitters of nitrogen shut down.
It was unclear before this week whether the EU would permit such a scheme, as it could have potentially fallen afoul of regulations surrounding state aid or subsidies. However, Brussels said that the plans were “necessary and appropriate” as they met the broader goals of the European Green Deal. (Read more)

For the first time in history, the US government locked down an entire nation and quarantined healthy people as it fear-mongered COVID 19. Additionally, the Biden Administration mandated the military and other federal workers take an experimental shot that Joe Biden said would prevent COVID from spreading. All government agencies and Democratic Party leadership, as well as many Republican officeholders falsely claimed that the mRNA experimental use serum was “safe and effective,” and still make that claim. Hundreds of thousands of shot takers have experienced significant side effects that will impact their health for the rest of their lives. Mandated government treatments resulted many deaths.
Now Joe Biden and his merry band of jack boots have officially ended their experiment on COVID 19 “vaccination” mandates. On May 1, the White House issued a statement: “In 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration announced COVID-19 vaccination requirements to promote the health and safety of individuals and the efficiency of workplaces, protecting vital sectors of our economy and vulnerable populations. Since January 2021, COVID-19 deaths have declined by 95%, and hospitalizations are down nearly 91%. Globally, COVID-19 deaths are at their lowest levels since the start of the pandemic.” Let’s unpack this a bit—it was NOT because of the Biden Administration that COVID deaths receded. Meteor shower to clash with full moon Friday night
|

The Eta Aquarid meteor shower will ignite this weekend as ancient debris from Halley's Comet hits the Earth, but the full moon could hinder viewing conditions.
The night sky has been ablaze as of late with an outburst of northern lights, the Lyrid meteor shower and a nighttime launch of a massive SpaceX rocket from Florida. Astronomy experts say that another celestial show will add an extra sparkle to the night sky at the end of the week, one that is connected to one of the most famous comets in history.
The Eta Aquarid meteor shower, the final meteor shower of spring, will reach its peak late on Friday, May 5, into the early hours of Saturday, May 6. It is typically the best meteor shower of the year for the Southern Hemisphere with up to 60 shooting stars per hour, while skywatchers in the Northern Hemisphere can often count between 10 and 30 per hour. Satan's plan to hold the largest gathering of his followers "in history" did not go quite as he and the attendees imagined it would. Amid the furor, spiritual warfare and media coverage, salvations took place during The Satanic Temple's (TST) 10-year anniversary celebration. According to TST's own website, they claim to not believe "in the existence of Satan or the supernatural." Which anyone with an ounce of discernment knows is not true, and is deceptive. Because that is what Satan does. For a group that does not believe in Satan, there were a lot of "Hail Satan's" going around the Boston Marriott Copley Place. As convention goers dressed up as satanic deities and devils, they could not help themselves in directly attacking God and revealing that their true goal is to tear down what God has created, not the pursuit of knowledge and insight they list on their website.
For those calling themselves Christians that have embraced the cult of transgenderism within their churches, these lectures make it hard to use Scripture to justify the stance that accepting transgenderism is the will of God when satanists are pushing it so fiercely while denouncing the Word of God. Yet amongst all the pomp, rebellion and dark spiritual oppression convention-goers placed upon themselves willingly, there were reports of people witnessing on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and leading others in the prayer of salvation at the event. Worship leader and evangelist Sean Feucht tweeted out that even in the midst of the spiritual rebellion, God's love was being poured out and releasing people from bondage: "While they were ripping up pages of the Bible to kick off the largest Satanic gathering ever (SatanCon in Boston), over 98 attendees surrendered their lives to Jesus (verified!) from covert evangelists infiltrating the crowd."
