Weekend tornadoes kill at least 19 people across 4 states
|
|
At least 19 people were killed during a severe weather outbreak over Memorial Day weekend that brought tornadoes and tennis-ball-sized hail and knocked out power to thousands across the southern Plains overnight on Saturday.
The worst of the storm hit in the overnight hours when at least 20 tornadoes were seen by radar or in person across the region, according to the FOX Forecast Center. Storm damage was reported in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The National Weather Service reported that a long-track, supercell thunderstorm spawned multiple tornadoes.
Some of the most devastating damage in Texas happened outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington said in a news conference that seven people were killed and more than 100 were injured. The sheriff said that two children were among the dead. (Fox News) Read more.

EXCLUSIVE: Swing State’s Pension Funds Used To Advance ‘Racial Equity,’ Climate Initiatives, Report Finds

Arizonans’ pension funds have repeatedly been leveraged to forward racial and climate-related resolutions at publicly traded companies, according to a report from conservative watchdog group American Accountability Foundation (AAF).
Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) used Arizonans’ pension funds to back environmental, social and governance (ESG) shareholder resolutions on issues including race, gender, climate and politics, according to documents AAF obtained through a public records request. ASRS utilizes proxy advisory firms Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and Glass Lewis, who have each expressed support for ESG initiatives.
“That Arizona retirees’ pension funds are being used to promote economically disastrous ESG policies should alarm every single state taxpayer, regardless of political affiliation,” Arizona state senator Jake Hoffman told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Taxpayers entrust ASRS to provide and vigorously advocate for the retirements and other benefits for state employees — not to prioritize woke policies like ‘racial equity’ audits and defunding the American Left’s perceived political adversaries.”
There were 183 instances of ASRS voting in support of what the watchdog refers to as “woke” shareholder proposals. They include “racial equity audits, gender pay gap reports, efforts to defund conservative candidates and pro-business trade associations, radical climate policy, and pro-abortion initiatives,” AAF asserts. ‘Squad’ member Rashida Tlaib calls Biden ‘enabler’ of genocide at conference linked to terrorist group, CCP
|
|
"Squad" member Rep. Rashida Tlaib on Sunday blasted President Biden’s handling of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, deriding him as an "enabler" of genocide while speaking at an event attended by at least one member of a designated terrorist organization and funded by an asset of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The event, the People’s Conference for Palestine was held over the weekend in Detroit, and featured, among other speakers, Wisam Rafeedie, an activist with ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which the U.S. has designated a foreign terrorist organization.
The conference was organized by a left-wing activist group called The People's Forum, which has played a role in organizing several anti-Israel protests since Hamas' attack on Oct. 7, when the terror group's members killed at least 1,200 Israelis and took over 200 hostages from Southern Israel into Gaza.
The People's Forum is part of several organizations that make up the "Singham Network" a global web of nonprofits, fiscal sponsors and alternative news sources tied to Neville Roy Singham, an American-born multimillionaire tech mogul based in Shanghai, who has been described as a "conduit" for CCP geopolitical influence.
Singham's ties to the CCP were highlighted in a report from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) earlier this month. (Fox News) Read more here.

1. Israeli jets hit Hezbollah launchers as group claims attack on Kiryat Shmona - Times of Israel
Israeli fighter jets struck Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon that were used in a barrage earlier today on the Mount Meron area in northern Israel, the military says.
The IDF releases footage of the strike.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah claims attacks on Kiryat Shmona and other nearby communities launched about 90 minutes ago, saying it fired “dozens of Katyushas” and other types of projectiles.
It says the attack on Kiryat Shmona is in retaliation for what it describes as an Israeli attack on a hospital in Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon. (Read more)

2. Gun battle breaks out between Israeli and Egyptian soldiers near Gaza border - World Israel News
An Egyptian soldier was killed Monday after a gun battle erupted between IDF and Egyptian troops stationed on the border separating Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
It is unclear what initiated the gunfight, though Israeli military sources told Hebrew-language media outlets that the incident was sparked by Egyptian soldiers who opened fire on IDF troops, prompting the Israeli soldiers to return fire.
The Egyptian soldiers reportedly shot at an IDF engineering corps unit operating on the edge of Rafah.
The Israeli army has launched an investigation into the incident, an IDF spokesperson said. (Read more)

3. IDF strikes 'significant' terrorist compound, Palestinians claim 'civilians hurt' - YNET News
The IDF said late on Sunday it had carried out a precise strike on a Hamas compound
in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, but that it was reviewing the incident following reports that the strike caused a fire and civilians were harmed.
"An IDF aircraft struck a Hamas compound in Rafah in which significant Hamas terrorists were operating. The strike was carried out against legitimate targets under international law, using precise munitions and on the basis
of precise intelligence that indicated Hamas' use of the area," the military said.
The IDF later announced that it eliminated Yassin Rabia, a senior Hamas commander leading the terrorist group’s operations in the West Bank. Rabia managed the entirety of Hamas' terrorist activity across the West Bank, transferred funds to terror targets and planned Hamas terror attacks throughout the territory. In the past, Rabia carried out numerous murderous terror attacks, including in 2001 and 2002, in which IDF soldiers were killed. (Read more)

4. Spain to Urge Rest of EU to Back World Court Ruling Against Israel’s Rafah Operation - Algemeiner
Spain will urge the other 26 member states of the European Union (EU) to officially support a recent ruling of the top United Nations court against Israeland take steps to ensure the Jewish state abides by the court’s decision.
“I am going to ask the other 26 partners to declare the backing of the International Court of Justice [ICJ] and its decision, and also, if Israel continues to pursue against that opinion of the court, we would try to take the right measures to enforce that decision,” Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares told reporters in Brussels during a joint news conference with his Irish and Norwegian counterparts.
The ICJ or World Court on Friday ordered Israel to halt its military operationsagainst Hamas in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, the Palestinian terrorist group’s last major stronghold in the coastal enclave. (Read more)

5. Saudi FM: Two-State Solution Basis for Peace, Security in the Region -Asharq Al-Awasat
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stressed on Sunday that the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would form the foundation for permanent peace and security in the region.
The FM, along with foreign ministers and representatives from European countries, was in Brussels to attend a meeting of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Developments in the Gaza Strip.
The meeting stressed the urgent need to end the Gaza conflict and take necessary steps toward implementing a two-state solution.
Prince Faisal co-chaired the meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, in cooperation with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. The meeting was a follow up to a previous one for the committee held in Riyadh on April 29. (Read more)

1. SCOTUS Chief Roberts pressured to force Alito recusal ahead of Trump immunity decision - Fox
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is facing pressure to ensure that Justice Samuel Alito recuses himself from any 2020 election-related cases in the wake of controversy over flags flown at his two homes around the time of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
"By displaying the upside-down and ‘Appeal to Heaven’ flags outside his homes, Justice Alito actively engaged in political activity, failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety, and failed to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the impartiality of the judiciary," wrote Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., in a letter to Roberts.
The lawmakers additionally requested a meeting with the chief justice "as soon as possible."
Two recent reports revealed that Alito's home flew an upside down American flag shortly after the Capitol riot, and that his vacation home flew an "Appeal to Heaven" flag, as first reported by the New York Times.
According to Durbin and Whitehouse, "He also created reasonable doubt about his impartiality and his ability to fairly discharge his duties in cases related to the 2020 presidential election and January 6th attack on the Capitol. His recusal in these matters is both necessary and required." (Read more)
- Lord, we pray for Your mercy over Justice Alito, and the cancellation of attacks against him. The flying of the flags - one now 3 years ago - and the other an appeal to Heaven were the products of free speech and not something that should be considered as grounds for recusal.

2. Jack Smith asks judge to restrict Trump statements after 'inflammatory' remarks about FBI raid - Fox
Special Counsel Jack Smith asked a federal judge Friday to bar former President Donald Trump from characterizing the FBI's 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago as a threat to him and his family, arguing that the claims put law enforcement agents in danger.
In the motion filed to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over the classified documents case in Florida, Smith requested Trump be prohibited from making statements that "pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case." Trump claimed in a campaign appeal that FBI agents were "locked & loaded ready to take me out & put my family in danger."
Court documents revealed this week that the FBI used its standard use-of-force policy that prohibits the use of deadly force except when the officer conducting the search has a reasonable belief that the "subject of such force poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or to another person." 3. Revealed: 300 Boeing Planes used by United and American Airlines have potential flaw that could cause 'fire or explosion' on jets, according to FAA- Daily Mail
The FAA proposed a new airworthiness directive earlier this year to address a potential flaw in Boeing jets, DailyMail.com can reveal.
According to the FAA proposal, the issue involved an electrical fault on the company's 777 jets that, if left unaddressed, could cause fuel tanks on the planes' wings to catch fire and explode.
Discovery of the flaw exposes that nearly 300 more Boeing planes are potentially at risk, including jets used by United and American Airlines, according to the notice by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA reported the issue in March and requested that Boeing and other outside experts respond by May 9, but it remains unclear if the company has done so.
A Boeing spokesperson said in a statement that the FAA's notice was part of a 'standard regulatory process that has helped ensure air travel is the safest form of transportation. This is not an immediate safety of flight issue.'
'There are multiple redundancies designed into modern commercial airplanes to ensure protection for electromagnetic effects. The 777 fleet has been operating for nearly 30 years, and has safely flown more than 3.9 billion passengers,' the statement continued.
It is just the latest major safety warning to be directed at the scandal-hit company by regulators — as multiple models of Boeing passenger jets have face door plug blowouts, mid-air engine fires, and two deadly crashes which killed 346 people. (Read more)

4. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine Calls Special Session to Get Biden on State Ballot – The Epoch Times
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine summoned lawmakers back to Columbus for a rare special session on May 28 to get President Joe Biden on the November ballot and prohibit campaign spending by foreign citizens on ballot issues.
“Ohio is running out of time to get Joe Biden, the sitting president of the United States, on the ballot this fall. Failing to do so is simply not acceptable. This is a ridiculous—this is an absurd—situation,” Mr. DeWine, a Republican, said during a May 23 press conference.
According to Ohio law, officials must certify the November ballot on Aug. 7, 90 days before Election Day, which this year is Nov. 5.
President Biden is expected to be formally nominated for reelection at the Democratic National Convention, which will be held Aug. 19–22 in Chicago.
In April, Ohio Secretary of State LaRose wrote a letter to state Democrat officials warning that President Biden might not qualify for the general election ballot unless Democrats adjust their convention date or convince Republicans to change state law by May 9. (Read more)

5. AOC blasted by New Yorkers at Trump rally: 'She needs to stay out of the Bronx' - Fox
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came under fire by New Yorkers attending former President Trump's South Bronx rally after the "Squad" member criticized the event as "trick" that would be attended by many "out-of-towners."
But "Jesse Watters Primetime" spotlighted a number of attendees, all self-proclaimed locals, who rejected AOC’s agenda and said nothing has changed since she was elected.
"You need to tell her that she needs to stay out of the Bronx because look at all the people around. Everybody’s here for Trump," one unidentified man said.
As for her impact, one woman said the Democratic socialist representative has "done nothing" to help the community.
Another woman, alternatively, urged AOC to visit and see firsthand the hardships facing their neighborhood.
"Let her come to the Bronx, and let her come among us people that struggle. She doesn't even know what struggle is," she said. (Read more)
- Lord, there are many lies being perpetrated by those who were incensed at Trump’s Bronx Rally. What matters most is that a Republican came to a deep blue area. AOC not being popular there even though she continues to be reelected is no surprise. We pray that she will be held accountable for her lack of wisdom in the job she was elected to perform, and if she cannot be brought into Your truth, let her be removed.

6. Navy Commander: We’re Seeing More Attempts by Foreign Nationals to Penetrate Bases, ‘Two or Three Times a Week’ - Breitbart
On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” U.S. Fleet Forces Command Commander Admiral Daryl Caudle stated that attempted penetrations of military bases by foreign nationals “is happening more and more. This is something we see probably two or three times a week, where we’re stopping these folks at the gate” in the Navy alone and the nationals come from all different nations and many times have passports and papers.
Caudle said, “This thing of our military bases getting penetrated by foreign nationals is happening more and more. This is something we see probably two or three times a week, where we’re stopping these folks at the gate.”
Co-host Bill Hemmer then cut in to say, “A week?”
Caudle responded, “A week, at least. And this is just Navy alone, where we’re seeing folks trying to come in.”
Caudle added, “A lot of times they have passports, they have papers, yes. But they’re in no way, shape, or form authorized to be on our base, and it’s really hard for us to tell the underlying motive for these type of cases.” (Read more)

What Is Your Shemittah?

There has been a lot written in recent times about the shemittah. In Hebrew, the shemittah, means “to let go,” or “to withdraw.” It has been tied to judgment, and some have erroneously used it to falsely prophesy about financial disaster and other God-instilled accountability measures associated with America turning away from God. The scriptures, however, point to a much more profound meaning that was for Israel, true rest, abounding faith, and ultimate redemption of mankind. In a greater and deeper study of the shemittah, we can find our true shemittah, a greater understanding of God’s redemption plan and what it means for us as believers in Christ.
In Leviticus 25:2, The LORD told Moses, “Tell the people of Israel, When you enter the land I am giving you, the land itself is to observe a Shabbat rest for ADONAI.” Every seventh year the fields were to remain fallow for a year. The people could still eat what grew naturally without payment. Everything that grew during that year belonged to the LORD, so it was to be shared by all—even the animals! Observing the shemittah was a true test of faith, because the people had to have complete trust in the LORD’s provision. Another aspect of the shemittah was the right of redemption. After seven shemittahs, there is a Yovel, or Jubilee year, in which the land was restored to the original owner, the indentured would be freed, beginning with a blast of a shofar. Read More

CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes told anchor Anderson Cooper that she was surprised by the massive support the former President Trump drew at a rally in the Bronx on Thursday.
"Certainly a bigger crowd than I think Democrats would like to see, particularly given this is one of the bluest counties in the entire country," Holmes said when asked what the energy was like at the rally.
"I wasn't sure what to expect," she said.
"I’ve gone to a lot of these rallies across the country, and there are often people who travel hundreds of miles to see Donald Trump and they’re not necessarily part of the community," she added. "However, one of the things that I found was that there were a lot of people here that were actually from the Bronx." (Read more)

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. – A businessman who says sitting on the sidelines isn't his style is aiming to flip one of California's battleground House districts away from Democrats as crime and immigration take center stage across the Golden State.
Republican Matt Gunderson, who built multiple auto dealerships from the ground up and serves as chairman of a local hospital foundation board, says his plan to turn California's 49th District red starts with his involvement in his Southern California community.
"The reality is there's something in my DNA that believes public service is valuable, and more people should participate, and too few people do," Gunderson told Fox News Digital in an interview. "You can't sit here on the sidelines and look at what's happening in California and not decide, you know what, things have to change."
Crime is one of those problems, and Gunderson says the way to fix it is "pretty simple."
"When you don't punish crime, it just emboldens it and empowers the criminal," he told Fox. "Zero bail is a huge problem when there's this constant back in and out, and recidivism among the same people doing it. We've got to put a stop to it." (Fox News)

I was inside the court when the judge closed the Trump trial, what I saw shocked me: Alan Dershowitz

The trial's judge was 'an absolute tyrant'
I have observed and participated in trials throughout the world. I have seen justice and injustice in China, Russia, Ukraine, England, France, Italy, Israel, as well as in nearly 40 of our 50 states.
But in my 60 years as a lawyer and law professor, I have never seen a spectacle such as the one I observed sitting in the front row of the courthouse yesterday.
The judge in Donald Trump’s trial was an absolute tyrant, though he appeared to the jury to be a benevolent despot. He seemed automatically to be ruling against the defendant at every turn.
Many experienced lawyers raised their eyebrows when the judge excluded obviously relevant evidence when offered by the defense, while including irrelevant evidence offered by the prosecution.

But when the defense’s only substantive witness, the experienced attorney Robert Costello, raised his eyebrows at one of New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan’s rulings, the court went berserk.
Losing his cool and showing his thin skin, the judge cleared the courtroom of everyone including the media.
For some reason, I was allowed to stay, and I observed one of the most remarkable wrong-headed biases I have ever seen. The judge actually threatened to strike all of Costello’s testimony if he raised his eyebrows again.
That of course would have been unconstitutional because it would have denied the defendant his Sixth Amendment right to confront witnesses and to raise a defense. (Fox News) Read more here.

NASA’s TESS Finds Intriguing World Sized Between Earth, Venus
|
|
|
Using observations by NASA’s TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) and many other facilities, two international teams of astronomers have discovered a planet between the sizes of Earth and Venus only 40 light-years away. Multiple factors make it a candidate well-suited for further study using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.
TESS stares at a large swath of the sky for about a month at a time, tracking the brightness changes of tens of thousands of stars at intervals ranging from 20 seconds to 30 minutes. Capturing transits — brief, regular dimmings of stars caused by the passage of orbiting worlds — is one of the mission’s primary goals.
“We’ve found the nearest, transiting, temperate, Earth-size world located to date,” said Masayuki Kuzuhara, a project assistant professor at the Astrobiology Center in Tokyo, who co-led one research team with Akihiko Fukui, a project assistant professor at the University of Tokyo. “Although we don’t yet know whether it possesses an atmosphere, we’ve been thinking of it as an exo-Venus, with similar size and energy received from its star as our planetary neighbor in the solar system.”
The host star, called Gliese 12, is a cool red dwarf located almost 40 light-years away in the constellation Pisces. The star is only about 27% of the Sun’s size, with about 60% of the Sun’s surface temperature. The newly discovered world, named Gliese 12 b, orbits every 12.8 days and is Earth’s size or slightly smaller — comparable to Venus. Assuming it has no atmosphere, the planet has a surface temperature estimated at around 107 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius).
Astronomers say that the diminutive sizes and masses of red dwarf stars make them ideal for finding Earth-size planets. A smaller star means greater dimming for each transit, and a lower mass means an orbiting planet can produce a greater wobble, known as “reflex motion,” of the star. 92-year-old veteran saved from being aborted during the great depression

Ninety-two-year-old Ray Lane wouldn’t be here if his parents hadn’t listened to their doctor. Born during the Great Depression, Mr. Lane has accumulated a wealth of lifelong experiences and knowledge—but one of his all-time favorite talks has always been recounting how he was saved from being aborted. Ironically, it happened during the era when abortions were illegal in the United States; a thoughtful doctor successfully counseled Mr. Lane’s parents to not terminate the pregnancy. Saved from abortion, Mr. Lane grew up and has lived a fulfilling life. He recently published a book titled “Conceivable: The Unlimited Potential of the Unborn,“ laying out his own life experiences and his firm belief that terminating a pregnancy equals ”aborting a human being.”
Referring to the American scientist Dr. Thomas Verny’s two decades of medical study on what an unborn baby can learn, Mr. Lane said an unborn baby can respond to music and sounds and even warn parents of medical problems they or their doctors may not be aware of. What a tiny unborn baby—or “a clump of cells” as pro-choice advocates describe it—can perceive from within the womb is startling. Dr. Verny wrote in his book, “The Secret Life of the Unborn Child,” that an unborn baby is capable of receiving and responding to love and being sensitive to the emotions and feelings of his or her parents. “What they are aborting is a human being—a person whose development starts the day after conception,” Mr. Lane told The Epoch Times. “It’s like an explosion happens in the modification of the cell [after conception].
