North Carolina bans abortion at 12 weeks after Republican lawmakers override governor’s veto

RALEIGH, North Carolina (LifeSiteNews) — Republican lawmakers in North Carolina overrode the veto of Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper on Tuesday and enacted a law that bans most abortions after 12 weeks and places new restrictions on abortion drugs and clinics.

The Senate voted 30-20 along party lines Tuesday evening to uphold Senate Bill 20, and the House followed hours later with a 72–48 vote.

Cooper, a strong supporter of unrestricted abortion, vetoed the bill at a rally with abortion activists on Saturday, saying that it would “make abortion unavailable to many women, particularly those with lower incomes, those who live in rural areas, and those who already have limited access to health care.”

The legislation is the result of private negotiations between conservative and moderate Republicans after the North Carolina GOP secured a narrow supermajority in the state legislature last month. (Read more)

- Oh Mighty King, we praise You for giving the wisdom and courage to the legislature of NC to stand up for the life of the unborn and to pass legislation against the abortion narrative.  We pray for the implementation to be swift and strong and that righteous justice would prevail in this state, in Jesus name.  We bless the governor and pray that activists would turn from their wicked ways and get new hearts, repent and find themselves so in love with life and defending it at every stage.

- "Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert."  (Isaiah 43:19)

Montana Becomes First U.S. State to Ban China’s TikTok

Montana has become the first U.S. state to ban the China-owned app TikTok. Governor Greg Gianforte (R) announced Wednesday that he has singed legislation in order to protect his state’s residents from “the Chinese Communist Party. To protect Montanans’ personal and private data from the Chinese Communist Party, I have banned TikTok in Montana,” Gov. Gianforte said in a tweet.

The governor signed Senate Bill 419 — which bans the Chinese app from operating within Montana’s borders — into law on Wednesday, according to a report by KTVH. The ban will go into effect on January 1, 2024.

“The Chinese Communist Party using TikTok to spy on Americans, violate their privacy, and collect their personal, private, and sensitive information is well-documented,” Gianforte said. “Today, Montana takes the most decisive action of any state to protect Montanans’ private data and sensitive personal information from being harvested by the Chinese Communist Party,” the governor added.

The law will reportedly let the Montana Department of Justice fine app stores or TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, $10,000 for each discrete violation, and $10,000 for each day that a violation continues. (Breitbart) Read more here

- We praise You Father for another governor and legislature who are taking a stand for what is right, just and true.  May there be a strong message sent to the Chinese snoopers that we are not willing to allow them to use technology as a source of snooping and spying on American citizens, in Jesus name.  We pray for a turn of this tide and that we would be sending the gospel to China, instead, in overwhelming measure.

- "'I will make each of My mountains a road, And My highways shall be elevated.  Surely these shall come from afar; Look!  Those from the north and the west, And these from the land of Sinim.'"  (Isaiah 49:11-12)

Tim Scott Files To Run For President

Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission Friday to run for president in 2024.

Scott has been weighing a presidential run for months, touring early primary states via his Faith in America Tour and launching an exploratory committee on April 12. The filing comes ahead of his widely expected presidential announcement on Monday, as well as his $6 million ad buy that will launch next week.

“This campaign is built to win and has the resources and messenger to deliver a Republican nomination and ultimately the White House,” a senior Scott official previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Real Clear Politics (RCP) average for a 2024 national Republican primary, based on polls conducted between April 21 and May 15, indicates that Scott has 2% support. (Daily Caller) Read more here.

- We pray for Senator Scott to run a race of integrity and honor, and that he has the opportunity to show himself as a worthy candidate for the office.  We trust that his youth will grant him the years of maturing and growing in wisdom that he will need for his future candidacy.  May he be filled with the light of God and walk in the fear and admonition of Jesus.

- "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, . . . " (Isaiah 40:30-31)

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. IDF general revokes order barring Israelis from illegal West Bank outpost of Homesh - Times of Israel

The chief of the military’s Central Command has signed off on an order allowing Israelis to enter an area in the northern West Bank where the illegal outpost of Homesh was established, paving the way for a formal settlement to be built there.

Maj. Gen. Yehuda Fox signed the order on Thursday, declaring the Homesh area part of the Samaria Regional Council.

The order was shared Saturday night on social media by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is also a junior minister in the Defense Ministry, which gives him broad authority over civilian issues in the West Bank. (Read more)

2. Soldier injured in terrorist attack in Huwara - Israel National News

An Israeli soldier in his 20s was injured Sunday evening in a terrorist ramming attack in Samaria. The attack took place in the village of Huwara, the scene of a number of terrorist attacks in recent months.

Other IDF soldiers present at the time of the attack opened fire on the terrorist, who fled the scene. Israeli security forces have launched a manhunt for the perpetrator.

Army paramedics were dispatched to the scene to treat the injured soldier, who was later evacuated to Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikva. (Read more)

3. Terrorists open fire on military post in Samaria; no casualties reported - JNS

(May 21, 2023 / JNS) An Israeli military post near Irtah in northeastern Samaria was targeted in a drive-by shooting overnight Saturday, according to the Israeli military.

Israeli forces operating nearby identified the assailants and opened fire on their vehicle, hitting it, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. During a subsequent sweep of the area, several bullet casings were found.

No Israeli casualties were reported.

Separately on Saturday night, Israeli forces arrested a terror suspect in Hebron and seized dozens of crates of fireworks, according to the IDF. (Read more)

4. Far-right MK threatens to vote against budget if ‘Jewish identity’ unit not formed - Times of Israel

Far-right MK Avi Maoz on Friday threatened to vote against the government’s budget if funds are not allocated to establish a “Jewish identity” unit, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged when he agreed to join the coalition.

With a relatively comfortable 64-majority in the Knesset, the coalition appears likely to pass its first budget by the May 29 deadline, but a handful of its lawmakers have threatened to torpedo the initiative in what could make the critical vote less of a slam dunk for Netanyahu.

Upon the government’s formation in late December, Netanyahu appointed Maoz — who heads the one-man, anti-LGBTQ Noam party — to become deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with powers to establish “Jewish identity” programs in a new Jewish National Identity office. (Read more)

5. Netanyahu government backs plan to invest 2 billion shekels in Jerusalem’s Arab neighborhoods - World Israel News

The Israeli cabinet on Sunday afternoon passed a new five-year plan to invest some NIS 2 billion in the eastern half of Jerusalem in order to improve the lives of its Arab residents, according to a report in Walla News.

The plan will affect several basic quality-of-life areas: improving basic infrastructure such as roads, public transportation, water, sewage and electricity provision, developing employment possibilities, and building additional educational, cultural, sports and health facilities.

A large portion of the money – NIS 300 million each from the finance and education ministries and NIS 200 million from the Jerusalem municipality – will go towards improving the quality of education in the city’s Arab schools. This includes more funding for the teaching of the Hebrew language and incentives for educational institutions that teach the Israeli curriculum rather than the Palestinian or even the Jordanian one.

These curricula are problematic in several ways, including their inclusion of anti-Israel material, and the poor instruction in Hebrew, which goes hand-in-hand with preparation for the Palestinian matriculation exams rather than the Israeli ones. The former encourages Palestinian radicalism and the latter prevents many Arabs from attending Israeli universities or forces them to take a preliminary year of studies first in order to make up the gaps in learning. 1. FBI Improperly Used Surveillance Program to Spy on Jan. 6 Suspects - The Epoch Times

The FBI abused its surveillance powers while spying on suspects in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol and Black Lives Matter protesters, a federal court said in a newly unsealed ruling.

FBI agents violated standards the agency developed for the Section 702 program, which enables spying on Americans and others, more than 278,000 times, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court said in the 2022 ruling, which was made public for the first time on May 19.

Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act enables agencies like the FBI to collect information like emails without warrants from foreigners, even if they’re in the United States, and bars intentionally targeting Americans.

The FBI developed its own standard for Section 702 searches, stating that queries “must be reasonably likely to retrieve foreign intelligence information, as defined by FISA, or evidence of a crime, unless otherwise specifically excepted.”

But FBI agents have been violating the standard, the court has found, with the newest ruling disclosing hundreds of thousands of abusive searches in addition to those already known. (Read more)

- We pray the FBI will be held accountable for these actions regarding the event on January 6. Make a way for someone to once and for all re-build this agency's trust with the American people. We pray for a complete overhaul of the FBI!

- "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;" ...(Psalm 1:1-6)

2. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green is Asking for Citizen Co-Sponsors to Join the Impeachment Team to Help Drain the DC Swamp – Here’s How - Gateway Pundit

On Tuesday, Representative Marjorie Greene (R-GA) introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Matthew Graves, and FBI Director, Christopher Wray.

On Wednesday, she introduced articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Greene is looking for citizen co-sponsors and to be part of the impeachment team to help drain the DC swamp.

“I really need help from you all at home and I really need you to join the impeachment team,” said Greene during an appearance at Steve Bannon’s Warroom. “And you can do that by going to impeachmentteam.com.

“You can be a citizen co-sponsor, join the impeachment team, impeachmentteam.com, and you can help me move the conference. They need to hear your voice. “They can sign on to these articles of impeachment as a citizen. It’s a petition,” said Greene. “Sign your name on there and then we will have more things for you to do.”

Greene urged the public to call their representatives and inform them that they support MTG’s articles of impeachment against Matthew Graves, Alejandro Mayorkas, Christopher Wray, and Merrick Garland.

“Call my colleagues. Call them. Inform them we support Marjorie Taylor Green’s articles of impeachment to end the weaponization of government. We’re fed up with it. Call in and say we support it,” said Greene. (Read more)

- We pray success for these impeachment efforts. Lord God, we ask You to remove from office these men who are weaponizing our government. In Your Name, amen and amen!

- "You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor." (Leviticus 19:15)

3.  Nebraska lawmakers pass abortion ban and restrictions on gender-affirming treatment for minors - CBS

The Nebraska Legislature on Friday approved a 12-week abortion ban and restrictions on gender-affirming care for children in a move so contentious that lawmakers on both sides have said they may be unable to work together in the future.

Conservative lawmakers wrangled just enough votes to end a filibuster and pass a bill with both measures. Republican Gov. Jim Pillen, who pushed for the bill and met with various lawmakers to shore up support, has promised to sign it into law.

The mood in the Nebraska Capitol has been volatile since lawmakers on Tuesday advanced by a single vote the hybrid measure that ties together restrictions that Republicans across the U.S. have been pushing. Nebraska's lawmakers have traded insults and promises of retribution, while protesters have loudly voiced their displeasure. Nebraska's ban comes the same week North Carolina affirmed a 12-week ban on abortion, overriding that governor's veto. (Read more)

- Thank You for the votes needed for this victory for conservative lawmakers. We pray for the intense contention among the legislature in Nebraska. We speak peace, and that they find a way to work together.

- "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."   (Romans 12:18)

4. Percentage of U.S. Adults with a Biblical Worldview Drops to 4 Percent - Christian Headlines

The percentage of adults with a biblical worldview dropped to 4 percent, Dr. George Barna, director of the Cultural Research Center, said of the American Worldview Inventory report.

"It's... much more extensive than we actually expected. Typically, you don't find that religious beliefs change very much," Barna told CBN News. "They're probably the most stable of the factors in a person's life because they relate to a worldview that's formed when you're young, and it doesn't change much as you age.

"We found a number of things that changed in terms of their views of truth, their views about God, their own assessment of their spiritual commitment, some of their moral perspectives — even their ideas and their behaviors related to religious activity, personal religious activity going to church, reading the Bible, acknowledging their sins, and asking for forgiveness," Barna said. "Those kinds of things all shifted pretty dramatically." (Read more)

 - How tragic is this report! We pray for a revival and Biblical values to be restored. May churches reach out beyond their four walls to minister to their communities to share the love of God.

- "Or do you presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4)
5. Smoke from Canadian wildfires is pouring into the US and could linger for days - CNN

Smoke from wildfires in Canada is moving into parts of the central US and could linger in the days ahead, health and weather officials warned Thursday. Air quality alerts have been posted as of early Friday across several states, including Nebraska, Washington, Montana and Wisconsin, with a special weather statement about air quality in Wyoming.

The heaviest smoke concentrations should shift further east into the Midwest later in the day, affecting major metro areas including Chicago, Indianapolis and St. Louis.

Canada has had an especially active start to the fire season. Last week, devastating wildfires in Alberta had burned more than 150 times more area in that province than in the last five years combined by the same point in the year, CNN has reported.

The US Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Quality Index indicated parts of the Rockies, the Great Plains and the Midwest, including the Nebraska Panhandle and northeast corner of the state, had “very unhealthy” air quality early Friday. (Read more)

- We pray these wildfires will diminish in Canada. We pray the smoke will move quickly through the border states and not affect their air quality, In Jesus name.

- "For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth!" (Psalm 71:5)

6.  Russia's Lavrov: G7 bent on 'double containment' of Russia and China - Jerusalem Post

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday that decisions taken by the Group of Seven countries at their summit in Japan were aimed at the "double containment" of Russia and China.

Addressing a televised conference, Lavrov reiterated Russia's claim that the West is using Ukraine as tool to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. The United States and its allies reject that narrative, saying they are helping Kyiv defend itself against an illegal war.

"The task was set loudly and openly - to defeat Russia on the battlefield, but not to stop there, but to eliminate it as a geopolitical competitor," Lavrov said. "Look at the decisions that are being discussed and adopted today in Hiroshima at G7 summit of the Seven, and which are aimed at the double containment of Russia and China."

In a statement earlier, the G7 agreed to tighten sanctions against Moscow and pare back exposure to China. They also urged China to press Russia to halt its military aggression and immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine. (Read more)

7. Obama Banned from Entering Foreign Country - Western Journal

In response to a new round of U.S. sanctions, Russia announced Friday that it was banning 500 Americans from entering the country, including former President Barack Obama and comedian Stephen Colbert.

The list released by the Russian Foreign Ministry did not specify complaints against each individual.

However, the ministry said the offenses included people who spread Russophobia, supplied Ukraine with arms and were “directly involved in the persecution of dissidents in the wake of the so-called ‘storm of the Capitol.'”

The ban includes 45 members of the U.S. House; Republican Sens. J.D. Vance of Ohio, Katie Britt of Alabama and Eric Schmitt of Missouri; and former ambassadors to Russia John Tefft and Jon Huntsman. (Read more)

- We pray over the sanctions against Russia and their response on banning Americans from entering their country. We speak calm to the storm.

- "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace." (Romans 8:6)

8. Justice Gorsuch Broadsides Officials at All Levels for Massive 'Intrusions' on Americans' Civil Liberties - Western Journal

The Supreme Court got rid of a pandemic-related immigration case with a single sentence.

Justice Neil Gorsuch had a lot more to say, however, leveling harsh criticism at how governments, from small towns to the nation’s capital, responded to COVID-19.

The justice, a 55-year-old conservative who was President Donald Trump’s first Supreme Court nominee, called measures taken by government officials during the pandemic perhaps “the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country.”

He pointed to orders closing schools, restricting church services, mandating vaccines and prohibiting evictions.

His broadside was aimed at local, state and federal officials — even his colleagues. “Executive officials across the country issued emergency decrees on a breathtaking scale,” Gorsuch wrote in an eight-page statement Thursday that accompanied an expected Supreme Court order formally dismissing a case involving the use of the Title 42 policy to prevent illegal immigrants from staying in the United States. (Read more)

- Thank You for Justice Gorsuch speaking out about the violations of our Civil Liberties. Bring to light all the violations so the American people will have their eyes opened to the mishandling of Covid-19.

- "You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:6)

And Now . . . Lion of Judah: ROAR!!!!
"The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man;
He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.
He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;
He shall prevail against His enemies."

Mount Etna volcano erupts, raining ash on Catania, forcing flight suspension at local airport

ROME (AP) — Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano, was erupting on Sunday, spewing ash on Catania, eastern Sicily’s largest city, and forcing a suspension of flights at that city’s airport.

Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, or INGV, which closely monitors Etna with instrumentation on the slopes, noted that cloud cover on a rainy day was impeding views of the eruption, which often serves up a spectacular display of flaming lava during the volcano’s not infrequent eruptions.

The institute said that ash had fallen on Catania and at least one town on Mount Etna’s inhabited slopes. No injures were reported.

Catania airport said due to ashfall, flight operations were temporarily suspended.

INGV indicated that monitoring had recorded evidence of a stepping up in tremor activity in recent days.

People in the towns of Adrano and Biancavilla reported hearing loud booms emanating from the volcano on Sunday, the Italian news agency ANSA said.

Italy's national Civil Protection agency had noted on Thursday in an alert that in view of increased volcanic activity, “sudden” variations of Etna's activity could occur.

In early 2021, an eruption of the volcano lasted several weeks. Read More

Kirk Cameron to release new kids’ book:

 ‘Pride Comes Before the Fall’
Conservative Christian actor and author Kirk Cameron will be releasing his second children’s book, ahead of LGBT "pride month," titled Pride Comes Before the Fall. The former star of the television sitcom “Growing Pains” gave a preview of the new book, which is slated for release on June 1, during an event at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina. “This is a story called Pride Comes Before the Fall, and it’s a story of a tiger named Valor and his partner named Kevin. They need to learn the lesson of humility,” said Cameron as he addressed a group of children gathered at the library over the weekend.

The book’s June 1 release coincides with what LGBT activists call "pride month," and which the American Library Association celebrates as Rainbow Book Month. The organization’s website describes Rainbow Book Month as “a nationwide celebration of the authors and writings that reflect the lives and experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, genderqueer, queer, intersex, agender, and asexual community.” Although the attempts by Cameron and Brave Books to hold readings of his books at public libraries were initially met with hostility, the publishing company announced on its Twitter account that Cameron is scheduled to hold a story hour at Seattle Public Library on May 27. (Christian Post) Read More Here
- Abba, we praise You for Cameron's new book and opening doors for "story-hour" in the midst of obstacles! We rejoice because Your plans can never be thwarted. May the book "Pride Comes Before the Fall" touch the heart and mind of every child. We declare that public libraries will be confirmed of community desire for moral books, as hundreds of parents and children attend Cameron's wholesome story hour! In Jesus name, Amen

- "I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted."           (Job 42:2)

Peace, Perfect Peace

Scripture: You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

Lyrics:
Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?
The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

Peace, perfect peace, by thronging duties pressed?
To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.

Peace, perfect peace, with sorrows surging round?
On Jesus’ bosom naught but calm is found.

Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away?
In Jesus’ keeping we are safe, and they.

Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.

Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?
Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

It is enough: earth’s struggles soon shall cease,
And Jesus call us to Heaven’s perfect peace.

Peace, perfect peace, ’mid suffering’s sharpest throes?
The sympathy of Jesus breathes repose.
