US Border Communities Declare Disasters as Title 42 Ends
|
|
Several South Texas counties issued disaster declarations as the Title 42 immigration order expired Thursday and amid predictions that waves of illegal immigrants will cross the border in the coming days.
Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez on Thursday issued (pdf) a disaster declaration, allowing his county to obtain relief funds. The county sits across the Rio Grande from Tamaulipas, Mexico, and there have been reports of thousands of would-be illegal immigrants located across the river waiting to cross.
Around the same time, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, too, issued a disaster declaration on Thursday “in response to the imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from the Border Security Disaster,” according to a statement from his office. The “Border Security Disaster” went into effect immediately and will last for seven days until further review, his office said.
Cortez said that he received word that some 20,000 illegal migrants could potentially surge into Hidalgo County in the coming days. His county is located at the very southern tip of Texas.
“I have received credible information from officials with Customs and Border Protection that large groups of migrants are probing our international border in search of crossing points,” Cortez told local media outlets. “I have decided to declare this emergency as a first step in securing all available state and federal resources to ensure the health and safety of our residents.”
He noted that when it comes to illegal immigration, his county has no authority. The federal government is the sole authority in the United States that has the capacity to handle illegal immigration, although Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has taken steps to deal with border security the recent days and month. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Father God, we thank You for the leadership being shown by these counties in
Texas, who are working now to protect their own people from this "invasion" of illegal immigrants now swarming our southern border. Help them, O Lord, to be strengthened as they continue to wage this "silent war' at that site. In Your Name, amen and amen!

‘Sickening’: NIH Funds Transgender ‘Experiment’ on Mostly Minors, Leaving 2 Dead
|
|
On Tuesday, news broke that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded a study on mostly minors who purported to identify as transgender, in which they were given cross-sex hormones over the course of two years. Two of the study’s participants ended up committing suicide, and 11 more experienced suicidal ideation. Lawmakers and doctors are expressing outrage that taxpayer dollars were used to fund a study that caused death and irreversible harm to children.
“It is sickening that the federal government is preying on young people and using our taxpayer dollars to advance its radical gender ideology,” Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-Okla.) told The Daily Signal. “We are rightfully demanding answers from NIH, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable for this tragic loss of life.” Brecheen is one of 15 Republican lawmakers that signed a letter to NIH Acting Director Lawrence Tabak expressing “grave concerns” over the study.
“Despite overwhelming evidence that chemically transitioning children is not safe, the NIH plans to give more than $10.6 million to experiment on children and adolescents through 2026,” the letter states. “We are deeply concerned about your agency’s use of taxpayer dollars to advance experiments on children who will be irreversibly harmed by radical gender ideology.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

- Oh Father! We weep when we read these reports, and we know that You are weeping, too! Lord God. THIS IS NOT OUR NATION. We ask for a move of divine
intervention that would restore our nation to its godly roots; and cause these "leaders" that are so lost to come home to You. Abba Father God, as we kneel in repentance before Your Throne of Grace, we await Your divine move of retribution to visit those who are now so lost in sin. May they each wake up from their state of wickedness and come to You, in repentance, that their sins may be forgiven and that they may find new life in You, Holy One. We ask this prayer in Your name, amen and amen.
- "Nothing is too difficult for Thee!" (Jeremiah 32:17)

Iron Dome intercepted 91% of 937 rockets fired upon Israel
|
|
Palestinian Islamic Jihad has fired a total of 937 rockets at Israel since the beginning of “Operation Shield and Arrow” on May 9, with 761 crossing into Israel. Iron Dome intercepted 91% of the 296 rockets that threatened Israeli population centers, but on May 11, one hit the city of Rehovot in the center of the country and killed an Israeli man.
The numbers come from Israel’s Consulate General of New York.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that as of May 12, the attacks are ongoing. “As families in Israel gather together for Shabbat dinner, Islamic Jihad terror organization continues to fire barrages of rockets toward Israel,” the IDF tweeted.
“No country would ever tolerate rocket attacks on its citizens, neither does Israel,” tweeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We have a duty to protect our people against terrorism.” (JNS.org) Read more here.

- Oh, Lord God Jehovah! We offer You all praise and all glory for the news of this report, and we are blessed to know that the United States has helped to arm Israel
with these Iron Domes. Lord God, help us to always stand by Israel, in prayer and in action, until the day of Your soon return! In Your name, amen and amen!

3. Israel and Palestinian Islamic Jihad Agree Gaza Truce - Algemeiner
A truce between Israel and the militant Islamic Jihad group officially came into effect late on Saturday night, with an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire agreement meant to end the worst episode of cross-border fire since a 10-day war in 2021.
As fighting tapered off, streets in Gaza that had largely been deserted filled with Palestinians. Some people cheered and honked car horns while others headed to the homes of people killed in the fighting to show their respect.

Israel’s five-day offensive in the Gaza Strip has reversed weeks of slipping popularity ratings for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party, a series of lightning polls indicated Sunday.
Surveys released Sunday evening by Channel 12 news, Channel 13 news and the Kan public broadcaster showed Likud faring better than in a string of recent polls, although the party and its current coalition partners would still fall short of the support needed to form a government were an election held today, according to the surveys. 1. Shocking Canadian Assisted Suicide Support For Those Who Are Disabled, Homeless - Prophecy News Watch
The Canadian disability community is warning Canadians are treading a slippery slop after a chilling new poll showed 50% of Canadians support assisted suicide for the disabled and that number rises to 60% among the 18 to 34 age group.
In a society unmoored from moral absolutes, law frequently becomes a moral teacher. That is why we have seen practices and behaviors once opposed by solid majorities become accepted by equally large majorities almost overnight -- because once the stigma of criminalization or legal restriction was removed, the public promptly adopted a new position. We are seeing this unfold in profoundly chilling ways with assisted suicide, which was legalized in Canada in 2016.
According to a new survey done by Research Co. between April 22 and 24 among 1,000 adults, Canadian attitudes toward assisted suicide are expanding with the boundaries of our euthanasia regime. Consider a few significant numbers. (Read more)

2. Some House Republicans Call for Holding FBI Director in Contempt of Congress for Failing to Comply With Subpoena - Epoch Times
WASHINGTON—House Republicans appear split on whether to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress for not complying with a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee that seeks a document with whistleblower allegations that now-President Joe Biden received a bribe from a foreign official.
In a May 3 letter to Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chairman of the Oversight Committee, and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) wrote that they “have received legally protected and highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures.
“Based on those disclosures, it has come to our attention that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions. It has been alleged that the document includes a precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose.”
The May 3 subpoena required the FBI to hand over any FD-1023 forms—which note information from confidential human sources—with the word “Biden” in them. The FBI refused to comply with the subpoena’s May 10 deadline.
“It’s clear from the FBI’s response that the unclassified record the Oversight Committee subpoenaed exists, but they are refusing to provide it to the Committee. We’ve asked the FBI to not only provide this record, but to also inform us what it did to investigate these allegations,” said Comer in a May 10 statement. “The FBI has failed to do both. The FBI’s position is ‘trust, but you aren’t allowed to verify.’ That is unacceptable. We plan to follow up with the FBI and expect compliance with the subpoena.” (Read more)

3. Ex-CIA Chief Testified Hunter Biden Laptop Letter Was Purely Political: Jordan - Epoch Times
Former CIA Director John Brennan privately testified before a House Judiciary Committee panel that the letter he and 50 other current and former intelligence officials signed suggesting that Hunter Biden’s laptop could be Russian disinformation had a political motive, according to committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
“He [Brennan] sat for a four-hour interview … and he further confirmed that this thing was all political,” Jordan told Fox News’ Jesse Watters on May 11 after Brennan completed his interview with the committee’s Weaponization of the Federal Government panel.
Jordan alleged that it was Secretary of State Antony Blinken, then a senior adviser to President Joe Biden’s campaign, who set the wheels in motion for the open letter (pdf) by reaching out to the letter’s eventual author, former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell, to discuss the laptop story.
“And then Blinken, later that same day, Oct. 17, 2020, sends Mike Morell the USA Today article, the story,” Jordan noted, referencing an article that suggested the laptop was being investigated as potential Russian disinformation. “That story gets put in the very letter that John Brennan, Mike Morell, and 49 other intel officials sign on to.”
Blinken has denied having any role in the letter’s publication. (Read more)

4. Elon Musk Names New CEO of Twitter - Epoch Times
Twitter and Tesla owner Elon Musk on Friday named NBCUniversal advertising chief Linda Yaccarino as the CEO of Twitter, coming just hours after she announced she would be leaving the corporate media outlet. “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!” Musk wrote in a post on Friday. The billionaire said she “will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.”
But ahead of her hiring, some prominent Twitter users expressed concerns that Yaccarino would pursue a “woke” agenda at Twitter, while some popular accounts expressed worry that the company would again start handing down suspensions over content that violates the company’s terms and services.
Some pointed to a 2020 article that she wrote for the World Economic Forum, the controversial Klaus Schwab-led international non-governmental organization that has been accused of pushing large corporations and governments worldwide into embracing left-wing policy agendas.
And some noted that Yaccarnino is also the chair of the WEF’s “taskforce on future of work,” and according to NBC’s website, “every CEO and executive needs to look inward, and build workplaces that ensure our employees, current and future, can always succeed amid rapid transformation.” She also stated via NBCUniversial’s website that there should be “long-term benefits for the unemployed, women, and communities of color” that some users flagged. 5. The UN Doha Declaration - Family Watch International
This is one of the most important United Nations family documents in over a generation. It is part of the UN’s recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family and reaffirms the UN’s historic commitment to protecting and promoting the family. All too often, UN bureaucrats and UN committees, in concert with anti-family non-governmental organizations, try to push an anti-family agenda in their dealings with individual countries and at various UN meetings. The Doha Declaration is an invaluable tool in stopping these efforts. (Read more here)

6. Iran secures chair of technology forum at UN Human Rights Council - JNS.org
In the same week that Iran hanged two men for their activity on social media, the U.N. Human Rights Council appointed Tehran as chair of a forum focused on using technology to promote human rights.
The appointment of Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Ali Bahreini to the chair of the U.N. Human Rights Council 2023 Social Forum has sparked much anger and indignation.
The Czech Republic’s Vaclav Balek, president of the Human Rights Council, announced this week the appointment of Bahreini to the chair of the council’s 2023 Social Forum Bahraini, to be held in Geneva in early November. The forum is purported to highlight the contributions of science, technology and innovation to the promotion of human rights, including in the context of post-pandemic recovery.
Iran was nominated by regional coordinators, according to Balek. (Read more)

7. Iran hangs 2 men on blasphemy charges amid surge in executions in Islamic country - Christian Post
Iran hanged two men sentenced to death for blasphemy amid a recent surge in executions in the country after the pair allegedly disrespected the Islamic religion.
Yousef Mehrad and Sadrollah Fazeli-Zare were executed at the Arak Prison in central Iran on Monday, the BBC reported. The pair were arrested in 2020 for allegedly running a Telegram channel called "Criticism of Superstition and Religion” and operating dozens of social media accounts "dedicated to atheism and desecration of the sanctities.”
The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) condemned blasphemy laws in a Monday press release. These laws punish individuals who allegedly disrespect religious doctrines or symbols. USCIRF contended that such laws undermine the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression.
“Blasphemy prosecutions demonstrate a blatant disregard for human rights, and are often used to target members of religious communities and others who hold different or dissenting views,” USCIRF Chair Nury Turkel stated.
“It is outrageous that the Iranian government executed Yusef Mehrdad and Seyyed Sadrullah Fazeli Zare on charges of insulting the [Islamic prophet] despite an international outcry and telling Mr. Mehrdad’s family the execution had been stayed,” he continued. (Read more)

8. Thousands along Bangladesh, Myanmar coast told to seek shelter as powerful Cyclone Mocha approaches - AP
DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) — Volunteers in Bangladesh’s coastal districts were using loudspeakers to urge people to seek shelter on Saturday as the delta nation braced for an extremely severe cyclone, which is expected to slam ashore in Bangladesh and Myanmar in the next 24 hours. U.N. agencies and aid workers prepositioned tons of dry food and dozens of ambulances with mobile medical teams in sprawling refugee camps with more than 1 million Rohingya who fled persecution in Myanmar.
The camps at Cox's Bazar are in the path of Cyclone Mocha, which was closing in on the coast of southeastern Bangladesh and Myanmar with wind speeds of up to 200 kilometers (125 miles) per hour and gusts up to 220 kph (136 mph), the Indian Meteorological Department said. It's projected to make landfall on Sunday between Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyaukpyu in Myanmar.
Bangladesh, with more than 160 million people, has prepared more than 1,500 cyclone shelters. The navy said it's keeping ready 21 ships, maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters for rescue and relief operations. (Read more)

Ohio Senate passes bill scheduling August election on 60% constitutional amendment threshold
|
|
|
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Senate advanced legislation Wednesday afternoon that could schedule an August election for the public to vote on whether to make it harder to amend the Ohio Constitution.
Senate Joint Resolution 2, which would put the question on the ballot, and Senate Bill 92, which makes the Aug. 8 election possible, passed along party lines. The resolution passed 26 to 7. The bill passed 25 to 8, with Rep. Nathan Manning, a North Ridgeville Republican voting with the Democrats.
Now, it’s up to the Ohio House. Both chambers must pass a joint resolution to put the issue before voters. That does not require Gov. Mike DeWine’s signature. However, SB 92 would require DeWine to sign off on the bill.
Earlier Wednesday, a committee in the House passed a similar measure, House Joint Resolution 1, sending it to the floor. The committee was lively, with opponents repeatedly chanting “Shame!” when the committee ended testimony and voted for the bill. Democrats walked out. The Ohio Highway Patrol removed at least one person from the meeting.
If HJR 1 or SJR 2 were to pass public vote in August, it would pave a much harder road for a November election where abortion rights supporters are hoping to have their own issue at stake, an amendment that would enshrine reproductive rights. In most “purple” and “red” states, abortion rights supporters have prevailed in the 52% to 59% range, and a 60% supermajority in Ohio would likely defeat it.
Republicans in the Senate said the constitution is a sacred document that shouldn’t be so easily amended. (Cleveland.com) Read more here.

- Thank You for this bill by the Ohio Senate, which strengthens its state Constitution and, in the end, will protect the unborn babies in Ohio. We pray all goes smoothly with this pending vote in August.

Ahead of key shareholders meeting, JPMorgan Chase denies closing accounts over religious, political views

Christian hedge fund manager warns of 'woke cultural moment'
|
|
A Christian portfolio manager and TV commentator is set to challenge the shareholders of one of the nation’s biggest banks over what he says is “evidence of religious and political discrimination” in the financial sector.
David L. Bahnsen, the founder and managing partner of The Bahnsen Group, which manages over $4 billion in client assets, will present a resolution at a May 16 shareholders meeting for JPMorgan Chase which will call on the company’s board of directors to evaluate how it oversees risks related to discrimination against individuals based on a number of criteria, including religion and political views.
The resolution states that JPMorgan Chase shareholders are “particularly concerned about recent evidence of religious and political discrimination by companies in the financial services industry,” citing a Statement on Debanking and Free Speech signed by Bahnsen and dozens of other wealth managers.
A number of some of America's biggest financial companies are cited in the debanking statement, including Capital One — which the index says prohibits transactions that promote hate — and Visa, which requires any merchants using its services to avoid “hateful” conduct.
Last October, Chase closed the account of the National Committee for Religious Freedom (NCRF), a faith-based nonprofit organization led by former United States Ambassador Sam Brownback, who said there was “never an official cause given” for the move.
“It’s secret, it’s irrevocable, and that’s all the information we got,” Brownback told The Christian Post at the time. It was Brownback’s experience that led Bahnsen to author the resolution in the first place. (Christian Post) Read more here.

- Father God, we recall praying for the NCRF last year when Capitol One cut off their donations with no explanation given. Lord God, today's article shows us that other religious and faith-based organizations have suffered similar treatment elsewhere.
We thank You, O Lord, that You do promise to cause all things to work together for good for those who love You and who are called according to Your purpose. We trust, Lord, that this new development regarding the shareholders of JP Morgan will help turn this practice to good; and that those who have been treated unfairly will now receive the justice due them. In Your Name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

Violating ceasefire, Gaza terrorists launch rocket at Israel
|
|
One rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at the southern city of Ashkelon on Sunday evening, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed. The rocket struck in an open area, causing no injuries or damages, according to the military. The Iron Dome air defense system was not activated as the projectile was not headed for a populated area.
Palestinian terror groups said the launch was the result of a technical malfunction.
In response, the IDF struck a Hamas observation post in Gaza.
Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Saturday night reached a ceasefire agreement to end five days of conflict.
Israeli media reported that the defense establishment did not expect the latest rocket attack to reignite the fighting. (JNS.org) Read more.

- Father God, this weekend we read that a tentative cease-fire agreement had been
reached between the Palestinians and the Israelis, but before we could pray about this, the agreement seems to have fallen apart. Lord God, in the way in which only You know to do, we ask that peace would be restored to this land, and that Your people be kept safe in the days ahead. Thank You, O Lord, for hearing our prayer, in Your name, amen.

Over 1,000 years ago, Caesarea’s coast was likely
the birthplace of sand farming
|
|
Around 900 CE, a complicated plot-and-berm system used industrial waste to build agricultural fields on sand – launching a completely novel way of raising vegetables.

Today, the shores of Caesarea are known for exclusive verdant golf courses and luxury hotels. But more than 1,000 years ago, Caesarea’s coast was the birthplace of a complicated system of vegetable farms on sandy beaches, archaeologists believe.
A 1.5-square-kilometer (0.6-square-mile) farm just south of Caesarea was likely the first time people used large-scale sand farming anywhere in the world and took over 1 million workdays to build, researchers from Bar Ilan University and the Israel Antiquities Authority announced last week.
The “Caesarea Gardens” was a massive system creating a checkerboard of berms made from sand and ancient industrial waste. According to Prof. Joel Roskin, a geomorphologist and landscape archaeologist at Bar Ilan University, the Caesarea farm could provide useful information about growing in hot, sandy climates for modern farmers dealing with desertification. Roskin excavated the Caesarea site with Dr. Itamar Taxel, the head of the Pottery Specializations Branch at the Israel Antiquities Authority. Read More

'The Chosen' Series to Be Streamed to 300+ Prisons and Thousands of Inmates Across US
|
|
The nation's largest Christian prison ministry is bringing the widely popular series "The Chosen" to more than 300 prisons in the United States. Prison Fellowship is partnering with the Come and See Foundation to stream the multi-season TV show about the life and ministry of Jesus to inmates, free of charge. "This life-changing television series that has become a phenomenon around the world will soon be available to tens of thousands of incarcerated men and women on the Prison Fellowship Floodlight platform, thanks to the Come and See Foundation," said James Ackerman, president and CEO of Prison Fellowship. "We are more than thrilled to make this high-quality, Gospel-focused production available to those in prison. Our prayer is that it will impact more lives as it already has more than 110 million people around the globe who have viewed the series," he added.
Floodlight, a closed-circuit video streaming service, was created and developed by Prison Fellowship in 2020 to provide faith-based content to inmates during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Come and See Foundation and Prison Fellowship are using the technology to allow prisons to stream or order a DVD copy of "The Chosen" free of charge. It is set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in first-century Israel. The seven-season show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus' revolutionary life and teachings. "The Chosen" recently partnered with Come and See Production to translate the series into 600 languages, Movieguide reports. "This new partnership with Come and See supercharges our efforts," creator and director Dallas Jenkins told the outlet. "We're able to produce episodes bigger and faster, get them translated into more languages, and market the show on a scale previously impossible." According to Angel Studios, the series distributor, "The Chosen" has been streamed more than 500 million times and has now been seen by more than 108 million people since Season 1. (CBN) Read more

|
- Abba, we Praise You for using "The Chosen" to reach inmates and many who may not know Jesus personally. We ask You to use this series to touch the hearts of many, giving them a thirst to know the Lord and walk in His holy ways. Bring the message of the gospel to life as only You can! In Jesus mighty name-Amen

Nothing But the Blood of Jesus
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words and Music: Robert Lowry
Scripture: Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Hebrews 9:22
Lyrics:
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
