Ukrainian-American Pastor: 'Overcome Evil with Good' by Supporting Ukraine, Refugees

A Ukrainian-American pastor says Christians in his home country are "putting their faith into practice" and shining the light of Christ despite not knowing what will remain of their homeland after the war.

Andrew Moroz, who was born in Ukraine and whose family members are still sheltering from bombs back in Ukraine, said it's both "beautiful" and "heartbreaking" to see how churches have responded to Russia's unprovoked invasion.

"We're… seeing them encourage one another, we're seeing them come alongside their neighbors and friends and show love – and really show the deepest expressions of their faith," Moroz, who serves as the pastor of Gospel Community Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, told Fox News.

"What we're seeing," he said, "is Ukrainians are putting their faith into practice."

Moroz said he's found hope and inspiration in a specific Bible verse, Romans 12:21: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

"The context of this verse was written to a group of first-century Christians that were isolated and who were persecuted, who were going through a very challenging time," Moroz said. "They were isolated from Jews, they were persecuted by the Romans. And they had every reason to give up, every reason to be overwhelmed. But instead, what they got to experience was overwhelming, resilient hope. And they had hope, because of their faith in Jesus Christ – because their hope was rooted in something that was outside of them and outside of their circumstances, and in this glorious future that God has prepared for His people.

"By God's grace," he said, "we can overcome evil with good, we can do that by joining the Ukrainian people in their struggle. We can practice good by supporting the Ukrainian government. We can practice good by investing ourselves into these refugee causes right now. And we can practice good by preparing to help rebuild the Ukrainian nation." (Christian Headlines) Read more.

- Father, we do thank You that we can now work together to "overcome evil with good" by assisting these dear refugees. We bless Pastor Moroz, and we ask that his
heart cry for his people would be heard across our land.

- "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. IDF airs footage of drone interceptions, accuses Iran of escalating ‘UAV terror’ - Times of Israel

As officials in recent days have said a potential nuclear deal between Iran and world powers may be in the offing, the Israeli military on Monday published fresh allegations regarding Tehran’s drone program, including new footage of Israeli planes downing several Iranian unmanned aircraft.

Israel has repeatedly warned that Iranian drones are a significant threat to the region — especially as Tehran arms proxies stationed along Israel’s borders — highlighting the fact that the emerging nuclear deal does not address the drone issue, as well as the larger question of Iranian proxies.

Military officials said Monday that Iran’s “UAV terror” is a new and global issue, accusing Tehran of directly attacking both military and civilian targets in the Middle East. (Read more)

2. Israel Warns Against Iranian Aggression as Nuclear Talks in Final Stretch - Algemeiner

Israel’s defense minister warned Monday that Iran remains a “threat to global peace and to regional stability,” shortly after the Israeli military revealed that it downed two Iranian drones launched toward its territory last year.

“It is during this important time, when a nuclear agreement is being negotiated in Vienna, that we must remember: today Iranian aggression is conducted without a ‘nuclear canopy,” Defense Minister Benny Gantz cautioned. “If Iran reaches a nuclear threshold, it will become even more dangerous to world peace.”

“Now is the time for the world to mobilize to stop it. As I have said in the past, the State of Israel will take all the measures necessary to prevent Iran from becoming an existential threat,” he added.

Negotiators in Vienna are currently in the final stages of negotiations to revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Indirect talks between Iran, the United States, and world powers have been ongoing for the past 10 months. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said Monday that a deal can be reached in “the shortest time” if Washington accepts points raised by Tehran. (Read more)

3. Suspected ramming attack targets Border Police near Jenin - Jerusalem Post

A suspected ramming attack targeted Border Police and IDF soldiers operating in Silat al-Harithiya, a Palestinian village near Jenin, on Monday evening, injuring two Border Police officers lightly.

The officers were transferred for treatment at a base and an armored vehicle was damaged. The suspect in the ramming has been arrested and is being questioned by security forces. (Read more)

4. Bennett calls hotline for refugees, unable to speak to anyone - Israel National News

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett reprimanded representatives of the Jewish Agency today (Monday) during a meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Immigration and Absorption, headed by Minister Pnina Tamano-Shata.

During the meeting, Bennett dialed the Jewish Agency's emergency center in Kiryat Moriah in Jerusalem and handed the phone to Minister Ze'ev Elkin to see if he could reach someone who would take his call in Ukrainian.

After an automatic answer was heard in English, another five minutes passed before the message came on again, asking the caller to leave their number.

Bennett banged on the table and turned to agency representatives: "There is no excuse for this. It takes the refrigerator company half a minute to answer their customers. You tell me everything is fine but no one picked up my call. I want the staff increased by three or four times its present size by 6 PM today." (Read more)

5. Ukraine's Zelensky pleads to American Jews for support - World Israel News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to American Jews for support on Monday with an unsparing account of Russian destruction in his country that he compared to the Nazi German army marching across Europe.

"This is just pure Nazi behavior. I can't even qualify this in any different manner," Zelensky told the Conference of Presidents of American Jewish Organizations, an umbrella group, as he continued to press for more fighter planes from the West and a no-fly zone that NATO has so far rejected.

Zelensky ran through a list of the cities and towns he said had been destroyed by Russian forces, while outnumbered Ukrainians were fighting with everything they had, even when they had no weapons. (Read more)

1. Senate Democrats call on Biden admin to end Trump-era immigration rule | TheHill

Senate Democrats on Saturday called on the Biden administration to end the use of Title 42, a Trump-era immigration rule enacted in the early days of the pandemic to immediately expel migrants at the border under a public health emergency.
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) as well as Sens. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), issued a statement that it is time to officially end the policy.
"The continued use of Title 42 has created life-threatening conditions for vulnerable migrants, enriched human smugglers, and significantly increased the number of dangerous border crossings," the senators said. “We urge the Biden Administration to fulfill its early promise to restore access to asylum and end the usage of Title 42 once and for all."

- Lord, allow only Your will to be done in this case, as the “pandemic” has dissipated across the globe. But we also pray that our legislators will see any hidden things in removing this rule that might allow an overabundance of illegal immigrants worse than has already occurred.

- “Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” (Luke 12:2)

2. Blinken: 'Active Discussion' Ongoing on Russian Oil Import Ban (breitbart.com)

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the United States was engaged in an “active discussion” on banning Russian oil imports.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “You point out accurately that the sanctions are unprecedented. They are. They’re stronger than they’ve ever been. But the U.S. has not moved as quickly as the EU has on sanctions against the Russian political elite, the Duma, the National Security Council, their families, the top 100 oligarchs. The U.S. has not banned imports of Russian oil trade sanctions. We’re still working with the Russians on the Iran deal. Why can’t we do everything we can now? Speaker Pelosi says she’s willing to cut off all imports of Russian oil.”
Blinken said, “We’re adding the sanctions every day. We’re doing it in coordination. If there’s a loophole on one side or the other, we’re closing it.”

- Lord, we ask that ONLY Your will be accomplished and that the flip-flopping of this administration will be stopped.

- “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:17)

3. Biden admin courts Venezuela as Russian economy takes hits from sanctions: report | Fox News

Several senior Biden administration officials from the White House and State Department traveled to Venezuela on Saturday to meet with the Russian ally as Moscow’s economy begins to crater under the weight of sanctions, according to a report.
The U.S. is hoping to capitalize on Russia’s economic weakness three years after the Kremlin – along with China and Iran – came to Venezuela’s financial aid when the Trump administration cut diplomatic ties with Caracas and imposed sanctions on oil exports in the Latin American country amid Western accusations of an illegitimate election, The New York Times reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Most of Venezuela’s oil exports went to the U.S. before the sanctions.

- Lord, if we had our own oil for domestic use and exports, we could help our allies. Seeking help from dictators is not a wise choice. We pray that You will move mightily on our behalf across this administration to bring major repentance.

- “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.” (Acts 17:30)

4. Mayorkas Building Bureaucratic Bridge to Import More Ukrainian Migrants (breitbart.com)

President Joe Biden’s deputies are building a bureaucratic bridge to help many Ukrainians from Eastern Europe move into U.S. jobs and housing, Robert Law, chief of regulatory affairs at the Center for Immigration Studies, said.
The bridge includes a new on-ramp in Poland, easy flights to the United States, and the likely award of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) work permits to migrants who make the journey, he said.
On March 3, Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s pro-migration Homeland Security chief, announced the award of TPS to roughly 70,000 Ukrainians who were in the United States on March 1. The population includes many recent illegal migrants and many fighting-age young men who might help their nation survive the invasion — which is supposedly a top priority for the U.S. government.
But the welcome spotlights the eagerness of Cuban-born Mayorkas and his political allies to bring in more people from poor countries.
Mayorkas has already helped import more than 70,000 people from Afghanistan and more than 1 million southern migrants in 2021

- Lord, while we feel deeply for the Ukrainian people, this is yet another situation of the current administration wanting to open the borders of the United States. We ask that You bring repentance to this administration, causing them to seek truth and use wisdom instead of indiscriminate actions that place burdens on our citizens.

- “The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.” (Psalm 45:14)

 5. Russian banks turn to China to sidestep cutoff from payments systems | Fox Business

Russian banks that have been cut off from global payments networks are turning to China’s state-owned UnionPay system as the country tries to sidestep boycotts by Western businesses for its invasion of Ukraine.
Visa Inc. and Mastercard Inc. said they are suspending their Russian operations, making it difficult for Russians to buy goods from abroad. The moves by the two companies go beyond sanctions issued against many Russian banks.
Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank by assets, Alfa Bank and Tinkoff Bank said Sunday they were working on the possibility of issuing cards powered by China’s UnionPay. Another Russian lender, Gazprombank, said customers can do cross-border transactions by getting cards that use UnionPay or Japan’s JCB system.
The workarounds show Russia may increasingly rely on China in the face of isolation by the West. It wasn’t clear whether the move signaled a shift toward greater cooperation between China and Russia to help Moscow find alternative ways to connect to the global financial system.

- Lord, a China/Russia alliance is an extremely dangerous situation, one that could destroy many things from the supply chain to international commerce. We pray for a move of Your Spirit to bring all things under Your feet and change the hearts of all across the world.

- “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” (1 John 5:19)

6. Average Gas Prices Hit $4 Per Gallon For First Time In Over Decade, Approach Record High | The Daily Wire

The national average price for gas has jumped to $4 per gallon for the first time since 2008 as prices continue to worsen during Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration.
“As of Sunday afternoon, the national average of a regular gallon of gas was $4.009, according to AAA,” USA Today reported. “That’s up 8 cents from Saturday and up 40 cents from last week. The U.S. hit the $4 national average a day earlier than analysts expected.”
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at fuel-savings app GasBuddy, said in a tweet on Sunday that gas prices were approaching an all-time high.
“We are currently at a 7 day rise in #gasprices of 43.7c/gal,” he tweeted. “If we surpass 49.0c/gal ago, we will be at the highest ever 7 day rise in average price.”

- Lord, we pray Your mercy over the gas prices not only for ordinary citizens, but for our truckers, police, and everyone who must have gas to do their jobs. We ask for a solution that is filled with Your wisdom. Let us see the miracles of old in our gas tanks!

- “The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.”  (1 Kings 17:16)

 7. Rubio Explains Why A ‘No-Fly Zone’ Is A No-Go: ‘It Means Starting World War III’ | The Daily Wire

On Sunday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with host George Stephanopoulos to discuss the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During the segment, Stephanopoulos brought up the idea of a “no-fly zone,” which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked for from multiple nations.
Rubio responded, succinctly explaining the impact that the United States declaring a no-fly zone over Ukraine would have — flying Airborne Early Warning and Control (AWAC) system planes over the country, shooting down Russian airplanes, and even taking out anti-aircraft systems.
“So basically a no-fly zone — if people understood what it means, it means World War III,” the senator said before noting that the U.S. can provide support in other ways.
Stephanopoulos then asked Rubio if he supports supplying Ukraine with fighter jets, to which the senator responded, “I do,” though he wondered about their ability to fly, given Russia’s anti-aircraft prowess.

- Lord, we pray strongly that You will prevent World War III and the carnage that would result.

- “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.” (Matthew 24:6)

8. Efforts to decimate Russian economy threaten to boomerang | TheHill

Efforts to decimate Russia's economy to punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine could have serious and unpredictable implications at home for the U.S. and its allies.
The Russian economy has begun to crumble after the U.S., United Kingdom, European Union and other partners imposed unprecedented sanctions with stunning speed.
The Russian government and major financial firms have been cut off from much of the global financial system, dozens of international companies have pulled out of the country, and the value of the ruble has plunged as the Russian central bank scrambles to prevent a deeper crisis.
“The United States and Europeans are explicitly stating that they're engaging in economic warfare with Russia,” said Daniel Glaser, former Treasury assistant secretary for financial crimes, during a Thursday webinar hosted by compliance firm K2 Integrity.
“Normally when you hear the U.S. and Europeans talk about the application of sanctions, you hear a lot about how targeted they want it to be,” he continued. “I'm not saying that the U.S. and Europeans don't care about collateral damage, but that’s not the talking point that they're using. The talking point that they’re using is how much pain they're trying to inflict on Russia, and it's just jaw-dropping.”

- Lord, we have been concerned that the sanctions that the world is placing on Russia are harming ordinary citizens rather than Putin himself. We appear to be making a problem worse instead of hitting the right target. We pray now that only Your perfect will be accomplished and any collateral damage be dissipated.

- “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”               (Matthew 19:26)

 9. Families fear financial hit as VA caregiver program prepares to drop thousands of vets (militarytimes.com)

Since suffering traumatic brain injury in an explosion in Iraq in 2007, Army veteran Brad Blazek has had trouble remembering when to feed himself, when to take his medications, and sometimes even who he is married to.
So it came as a shock to Terri, his wife and full-time caretaker, when she received word from the Department of Veterans Affairs last fall that they were being dropped from the department’s caregiver program because Brad no longer needed around-the-clock help.
“He has tried to cook in the past, but he burns himself because he forgets to protect himself and use potholders,” she said. “So we don’t do that anymore. And there’s the possibility of him leaving on the stove, or the gas. It’s not worth those chances.
“So when [VA] told me that he doesn’t qualify for continuous care, I don’t know. It just didn’t make any sense.”

- Lord, this new rule appears to be leaving numerous vulnerable veterans out of a program that helps them cope with life. We ask for a solution that will assist them, and we pray for Your healing touch and power to be manifest among them.

- “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

10. US, Allies rush tons of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine as Russian troops close on Kyiv, New York Times reports | Stars and Stripes

About 14 wide-bodied transport planes flew tons of ammunition and weapons to include Javelin antitank missiles, rocket launchers, and guns to an airfield near the Ukraine border Friday as Western nations rushed to bolster the Ukrainian army as Russian troops close in on the capital of Kyiv, The New York Times reported.
The newspaper said Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, inspected the weapons transfer during an unannounced trip. The newspaper did not identify the airfield by name or location.
According to the newspaper, the supplies will be delivered by land to Ukraine for distribution to Ukrainian fighters as soon as possible. The Times said troops and personnel from 22 countries were working around the clock to unload the supplies for movement to Ukraine.

- Lord, we pray that the destruction of Ukraine, the men, women, and children will cease and peace will be restored to the land.

- “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”           (Matthew 5:9)

11. Blinken Claims He Is Working on Polish Jet Plan Poles Called ‘Fake News’ (breitbart.com)

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed he is looking “very actively” at a scheme for Poland to donate Soviet-designed jets to Ukraine and have them replaced with American jets — hours after the Polish government said the plan was “fake news”.
“We are looking actively now at the question of airplanes that Poland may provide to Ukraine and looking at how we might be able to backfill should Poland decide to supply those planes,” Blinken claimed during a visit to Moldova, which borders Ukraine and, like its larger neighbour, involuntarily hosts Russian-backed separatist territory.
“I can’t speak to a timeline but I can just say we’re looking at it very, very actively,” Blinken added in comments reported by The Financial Times.
A spokesman for the Joe Biden administration also discussed the proposed jet swaps with POLITICO, with an official telling them that the White House was “working with the Poles on this issue and consulting with the rest of our NATO allies”.
Mere hours beforehand, however, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, had categorically denied that any such deal was on the cards, telling Eastern European online media outlet NEXTA that the claims were “FAKE NEWS”.
“Unfortunately you are spreading misinformation,” the Chancellery’s verified Twitter account posted in response to NEXTA citing Wall Street Journal reporting that Poland “may” provide Ukraine with MiG-29s and Su-25s.
“Poland won’t send its fighter jets to Ukraine [or] allow [Ukrainian pilots] to use [Polish] airports,” they added.

- Lord, in this age of deception, it is difficult to find the truth. We simply pray that Your Spirit will guide us and keep our prayers firmly rooted in Your heart.

- “However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.” (John 16:13)

12. Armed intruder at Joint Base Andrews arrested, second person fled (msn.com)

An armed 17-year-old male was arrested at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday night after he and another individual drove through a security checkpoint at the installation's main gate, prompting a lockdown at the base.
The incident took place as Vice President Kamala Harris and four members of President Biden's Cabinet arrived back at the Maryland base from a trip to Selma, Alabama, to commemorate the 57th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.
Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff left Joint Base Andrews aboard Marine Two, though it's unclear whether the base was put on lockdown before or after their departure. The White House confirmed the Cabinet members traveling with the vice president — Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan — were safely off the base.

- Lord, as political tensions and anger grow in the United States, we pray for a move of repentance to fill every city, state, and region in our country. Let Your love be manifest to all and bring all to their knees.

- “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2: 9-11)

Have Some Discernment

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, March 7, 2022

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought with it some extreme thoughts and confusion among the Christian community. Some are hailing Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a hero for fighting against the Globalist Agenda. Some are saying that Putin is a madman. The mainstream news media, the Hollywood elite, and globalist-supporting politicians are using their platforms to promote American involvement in yet another war. The propaganda machines in both Russia and Ukraine are operating at full tilt with polar opposite accounts of the situation. Joe Biden and his administration are stuck in the mode of just describing the situation because they don’t know what to do. Have some discernment.

Putin is not a champion for good. He never has been. Just because people think his mother was a Christian, doesn’t make Putin a good guy with a white hat. Yes, Putin is against the “Globalist Agenda.” He always has been. Not because of some noble value, but because he has his own new world order goals—where there is no dollar as currency; where Russia, China and Iran rule the world, including the United States, with their brand of communism, socialism or theocracy. Putin’s goons have assassinated journalists and political leaders who oppose his agenda. He is former KGB and has systematically built back the former Soviet Union with a new communist twist. He is a bully not to be trusted. Read More

2 monster black holes are headed toward a collision
that will rock the fabric of space-time
The two black holes will merge about 10,000 years from now and ripple the fabric of space-time in the process.

Astronomers have discovered two supermassive black holes that are 99% of the way to a violent collision that will rock the very fabric of space-time.

The black holes, which share the name PKS 2131-021, are locked in a dance of doom about 9 billion light-years from Earth, according to a study published Feb. 23 in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. The two objects have moved steadily toward each other for about 100 million years, according to a statement from NASA, and now they share a binary orbit, with the two black holes orbiting each other every two years or so.

About 10,000 years from now, the two black holes will merge, sending gravitational waves — ripples in the fabric of space-time originally predicted by Albert Einstein — surging across the universe, the researchers said. Though none of us will witness that epic collision, studying PKS 2131-021 now could reveal new information about how supermassive black holes form and what happens when two of them collide. 40 Days for Life sets record as Lent campaign launches in 588 cities
JACKSON, Mississippi (LifeSiteNews) — Ash Wednesday marked the opening of 40 Days for Life’s largest spring campaign. Affiliated campaigns in 588 cities in 41 countries on all six populated continents is a historical high for the powerful pro-life action organization.

In Jackson, Mississippi, participants gathered in front of the abortion facility that originated the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case at the Supreme Court. In the state of Texas, where a Heartbeat Act threatens the survival of the abortion industry, 16 locations were activated. In addition, an all-time record number of campaigns began in the United Kingdom, Spain, Taiwan, South Korea and India. The United States is also hosting the most Lenten campaigns in the organization’s history this year.

“Unlike most culture battles in our country right now, Christians in the pro-life movement are winning,” said Shawn Carney, president of 40 Days for Life. “We are winning hearts and minds like no other issue while at the same time we have the most pro-abortion government in the history of the United States. The motivation to do something to save more lives and close more abortion facilities has never been higher.”

As the U.S. Supreme Court considers arguments for the overturning of landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade, pro-life enthusiasm is at an all-time high, said Steven Karlan, the 40 Days for Life campaign director.  “Even Christians outside the United States are excited because they know that just as the U.S. exported abortion around the world, we will export the end of abortion around the world,” he said. How Great Thou Art

To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE

Words: Isaac Watts
Music: Lowell Mason

Scripture: O Lord, how great are Thy works! Psalm 92:5

Lyrics:
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the *worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the *rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Refrain
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:

Refrain

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Refrain

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then *I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, My God, how great thou art!
