Governor defends sending National Guard
into subways
|
|
Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York defended her decision to deploy National Guard troops to the New York City subway Friday, citing commuters’ “anxiety,” the New York Post reported.
Hochul announced Wednesday that she would deploy 750 members of the New York National Guard and 250 state troopers to combat crime on the subways of New York City. Crime on the city’s subways has increased by 13% year-to-year, according to the New York Post.
Hochul defended the decision after criticism from police officials and lawmakers.
“When you have that high level of anxiety, now you’re dealing with the psychological toll that deters people from wanting to go on the subway,” Hochul said, according to the Post.
“NYers want truth and solutions! Let’s talk. Transit crime is 12% in the last 5 wks because of extra cops deployed, a planned commitment by @NYPDPC @NYCMayor,” NYPD Patrol Chief John Chell posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thursday. “Our transit system is not a ‘war’ zone!”
The NYPD arrested three suspects in the death of a 45-year-old commuter Feb. 23, six days after a severed leg was discovered on a subway track. Police also took a Brooklyn resident with eight prior arrests into custody Feb. 16 after a cellist was attacked. (Read more) Source: WND

- Lord God, we pray for this governor of New York, and all governors of every state, that they would make wise decisions about how to best protect their citizens. We pray Lord, that they would stand with our local police officers, and choose to empower them to enforce the law so that they don’t run into issues like this. A hard stand of law and order is what this country needs and we declare that our leaders will stand up and do that, in Jesus' name, amen.

When classical learning meets public education
|
|
Charters pitching themselves to more diverse communities
|
|
The future of the controversial classical education movement will be showcased later this month when Columbia University senior lecturer Roosevelt Montás is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a national symposium hosted by Great Hearts, the biggest classical charter network.
The views of Montás, author of the widely praised memoir "Rescuing Socrates," are well to the left of many in the classical charter movement, which is rooted in Christian conservatism. What makes Montás’ upcoming speech so notable, then, is the signal it sends about the movement’s effort to diversify its brand and project a welcoming attitude as it seeks to expand beyond conservative strongholds and suburbs where it began.
But not everyone is enamored of the effort, neither educational conservatives nor local school officials, unions, and progressive advocates. The latter liken classical charters to a Trojan Horse, sneaking quasi-Christian right-wing dogma into public education under the cover of liberal arts.
That makes classical education perhaps the biggest culture-war flashpoint in the current disruption of traditional public education prompted by the historic exodus of students during the pandemic – even though the movement's numbers are small.
In all, there are about 250 classical charters today, according to one study, making them a small niche within the broader charter sector of 8,000 schools and campuses focused on everything from STEM subjects to art to special needs. They have produced both notable successes and scandalous failures in bringing innovation to public education.
Classical education, whose name gained traction in the 1980s to evoke the movement's focus on liberal arts and the Western canon, is struggling to overcome local political opposition and open schools in lower-income communities where most students reside. By making common cause with a range of prominent black and Latino thinkers and educators like Montás, classical charter leaders hope to show that their style of moral education is valuable to students from all backgrounds and beliefs. - Lord God, it is clear from statistical evidence, that the removal of the Bible, the 10 Commandments, and all Christian morals from school has led to the increase in violence, lack of a good education, and good, well-rounded young individuals. So we pray Lord, that the school faculty, the staff, the parents, and all representatives that are involved in choosing curriculum for our kids would choose to go back to our tradition of Christian values in schools to better our young people in the future of this country in Jesus name amen.
- “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

Reporter reveals China's 'endgame' as migrants
flood U.S.
|
|
A Daily Caller News Foundation reporter said that a simplified screening process for illegal immigrants from China might have an “endgame” benefiting the Chinese Communist Party.
DCNF investigative reporter Phil Lenczycki reported in January that United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reduced the number of questions to vet illegal aliens from China to five as opposed to 40 in April 2023, according to an email obtained by the DCNF. Lenczycki told podcast host Bryan Dean Wrightin an episode of “The Wright Report” that aired Friday that Border Patrol agents also no longer downloaded the contents of phones in the possession of the illegal aliens.
“The border agents were no longer required to perform something called phone downloads, which would be when they would attach the phones to some type of device, download all the information and then sift through it to see if there’s anything concerning,” Lenczycki told Wright. “We were told this would typically pull up things regarding the network of human traffickers itself, they’d be looking for that. We found instances also where individuals were arrested afterwards for having child pornography.”
“In order to process these illegal immigrants, they would have to resort to using Google Translate,” Lenczycki said, noting that it could take four hours to process an illegal immigrant from China under the pre-April 2023 protocols. The new protocols allow for many more illegal immigrants from China to be given a “notice to appear” and “order of recognizance,” according to the email obtained by the DCNF.
“The endgame is that, as you have pointed out, all these individuals are let in, and we don’t have any information about any of them,” Lenczycki said. (Read more)

- Lord God, we continue to ask for restoration in this area of the border crisis because of the lies and misleading information we are witnessing. We just cover all of those who have lost loved ones, their freedoms, their jobs etc. because of this crisis in the precious blood of Jesus. We forbid in Jesus' name all planned attempts to try and weaken and bring down this nation, in Jesus' name. Amen.

1. US criticism of Israel encourages Hamas, Netanyahu says in Fox News interview - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that perceived disagreements between the US and Israel make it harder to defeat Hamas.
“To the extent that Hamas believes that there’s daylight between us, that doesn’t help,” Netanyahu said in a Fox News interview in the wake of intensified criticism from US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris over the weekend.
Agreement between the two allies, on the other hand, “helps the war effort, and it helps our efforts to achieve victory and obviously the release of the hostages,” he added. (Read more)

3. At Germany’s Request, IDF Moves 70 Gaza Orphans to Bethlehem via Israel - Jewish Press
The IDF and the Civil Administration were involved in the past day in an unusual operation to rescue more than 70 Gazan orphans at the request of the German Embassy.
The children, who were accompanied by dozens of Gaza adults, were moved from an orphanage that stopped functioning to a new home in the Palestinian Authority town of Bethlehem, passing through Israeli territory, including the outskirts of Jerusalem, to get there.
The National Security Headquarters in the Prime Minister’s Office approved the unusual humanitarian gesture even though Hamas, which still apparently controls Gaza, remains unwilling to provide Israel with the names and/or number of hostages who are still alive in Gaza captivity. (Read more)

4. Hezbollah fires over 60 rockets at Israel; IDF holds drills to prepare for approaching Lebanon War - All Israel
The Lebanese terror group Hezbollah fired over 60 rockets at northern Israel on Sunday while Israel Defense Forces announced it held a large logistics drill in preparation for a full-scale confrontation with the terror group, which seems to get ever closer.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for at least 11 attacks on Sunday, including two barrages of over 30 rockets. The first rocket salvo of some 30 Grad rockets struck near an IDF air control base on Mount Meron, with footage on social media showing the impact of aournd 10 rockets in open areas near the base.
Shortly after the first attack, Hezbollah fired another barrage of around 7 rockets, with some being intercepted and others falling into open areas, the IDF stated.
The terror group claimed the attacks were a response to an IDF strike in Khirbet Salem on Saturday night, which killed five members of a family, including the father and two sons who were members of Hezbollah. (Read more)

5. IDF seeking to force UNRWA dissolution in Gaza, to be replaced by alternative - Times of Israel
The Israel Defense Forces has decided it will work to dismantle the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip and replace it with an alternative body, The Times of Israel learned on Monday.
While Israel has long argued that UNRWA should be disbanded, it previously acknowledged the agency’s key role in distributing essential relief to Gazans under the strain of a massive humanitarian crisis and refrained from taking action against it. Its position against the agency was strengthened, however, by the ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza, which began with the deadly October 7 terror onslaught in southern Israel.
Since the start of the war, UNRWA has accused Israel of intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, including its schools and its first responder stations. In turn, the IDF said UNRWA was, willfully or under threat, providing cover for Hamas terrorists. (Read more)

1. US, UK, French military shoot down Houthi drones after attack on bulk carrier, destroyers - Reuters
CAIRO, March 9 (Reuters) - U.S., French and British forces downed dozens of drones in the Red Sea area overnight and on Saturday after Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis targeted bulk carrier Propel Fortune and U.S. destroyers in the region, the U.S. military said in a statement.
The Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November in what they say is a campaign of solidarity with Palestinians during Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
The group's military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a televised speech on Saturday they had targeted the cargo vessel and "a number of U.S. war destroyers at the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden with 37 drones".
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the U.S. military and coalition forces had downed at least 28 uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Red Sea in the early hours of Saturday.
"No U.S. or Coalition Navy vessels were damaged in the attack and there were also no reports by commercial ships of damage," CENTCOM said in a statement. (Read more)

2. More than 30 million people under flood alerts in the Northeast - ABC News
Flood alerts are in effect for more than 30 million people across 11 states from Virginia to Maine Saturday night, with a mixture of flood watches and various coastal flood alerts.
The Northeast will see rain and potential flooding after the Southeast experienced rising waters, strong wind and even a tornado.
The tornado was spotted by Coffee County Emergency Management west of Broxton and northeast of Ambrose, Georgia, early Saturday morning, with some minor roof damage reported.
In Charleston, South Carolina, damaging winds Saturday morning blew through the area with a severe thunderstorm. The storm’s winds caused damage to multiple commercial buildings, stripping sheet metal from the roof and sending it flying hundreds of feet away. (Read more)

3. Tim Tebow urges Congress to fund child sexual exploitation 'rescue team': 'Answer the call' -The Christian Post
Former college football star Tim Tebow became emotional as he read a letter during his recent testimony on Capitol Hill about combating child sexual exploitation from an abuse victim raped almost every night for seven years, calling the girl "one of [his] heroes."
The popular Christian athlete and founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation, which works to combat human trafficking and address the needs of other vulnerable people, testified Wednesday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance.
The hearing focused on the distribution of online child sex abuse material, as well as potential legislation that could allow for greater resources to find and rescue victims.
The 36-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner, who has spent much of his post-football career fighting human trafficking, urged lawmakers to advance legislation that would protect children seen in child sex abuse material by funding and training more law enforcement dedicated to identifying victims, among other provisions.
According to the Tim Tebow Foundation, such a bill would ideally "enhance the capability to identify and locate the more than 50,000 unidentified children who are being abused, raped and tortured." (Read more)

4. House Passes Laken Riley Act – 170 America-Hating Democrats Vote Against Bill - The Gateway Pundit
The House of Representatives on Thursday voted 251-170 to approve H.R. 7511, dubbed the ‘Laken Riley Act.’ 170 House Democrats voted against the Laken Riley Act. Democrats hate Americans.
The bill requires ICE to arrest and detain illegal aliens like Laken Riley’s murderer until they are removed from the US. “Democrats don’t care about your safety,” House Republicans said.
The bill was named after 22-year-old Laken Riley, a University of Georgia student who was recently murdered by a Venezuelan illegal. The illegal alien who murdered Laken Riley crossed into the US on Biden’s open border invitation.
According to an affidavit unsealed, the barbaric savage who murdered Laken Riley “disfigured her skull.”
Joe Biden won’t even say Laken Riley’s name.
“Mr. President, do you bear any responsibility for Laken Riley’s death!?” someone shouted at Biden during his visit to Brownsville, Texas last week.
Biden callously shuffled away. (Read more)

5. Federal Judge Dismisses States’ Challenge to Biden’s Parole Program for Immigrants - Epoch Times
A federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit filed by Republican-led states against a Biden administration program that has allowed tens of thousands of immigrants from four countries to enter the United States.
U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton ruled the plaintiffs—a coalition of 21 states—“have not proven that Texas has suffered an injury” due to the program and therefore lacked standing to maintain this lawsuit.
“In reaching this conclusion, the Court does not address the lawfulness of the Program. The court may only reach that question after a plaintiff has established that it has standing,” the judge wrote in a 31-page ruling.
The Biden administration announced the program in January last year, allowing up to 30,000 people from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Venezuela to legally enter the United States each month.
Under the program, immigrants must apply ahead of time for parole by providing the name of a person who will agree to financially support them if they’re approved.
The immigrant must also pass a background check and present themselves at a Port of Entry, rather than entering the United States illegally.
In his ruling, Mr. Tipton said that the number of people illegally entering the United States from the four countries has “dramatically decreased” by “as much as 44 percent” since the program was implemented.
“This case is dismissed without prejudice. The Court denies all requested relief and will enter a final judgment by separate order,” he added. (Read more)

6. House Republican Abruptly Ends Re-Election Bid, Citing Death Threat and 'Defamatory Rumors - WND
Citing a death threat and “defamatory rumors,” House Republican Matt Rosendale of Montana on Friday abruptly ended his bid for re-election.
Rosendale made the announcement on his MattForMontana campaign account on X.
“For the past 14 years, I have had the honor and privilege of serving the people of Montana through public service,” he wrote to start his statement.
“When I took on the task of running for Congress, I knew, as many of you do, that the system is severely broken and badly in need of reforms,” Rosendale, 63, continued. “Unfortunately, there is immense pressure from those who benefit from the current structure to keep things as they are. And the limited few of us who are willing to try and force true reforms are subject to severe retribution.”
Rosendale’s message came after months of intrigue in Montana. He had announced a bid for the U.S. Senate but dropped out of the race in February.
Rosendale, who is an open Donald Trump supporter, was stung when Trump endorsed his GOP opponent for the Senate, Tim Sheehy.
Trump’s pick of Sheehy has been viewed as an odd choice because the candidate has many non-MAGA tendencies and past positions and actions. (Read more)

7. California city bans non-government flags, angering LGBTQ groups - Yahoo News
Voters in California's conservative Huntington Beach approved a measure that would restrict all non-government flags from being flown on city property, prompting backlash from LGBTQ advocates.
Measure B, authored by Huntington Beach City Councilman Pat Burns, passed with more than half of the city's vote, according to the latest tally on the county's registrar website.
The measure, for which voters cast their ballots on Super Tuesday, will prohibit breast cancer awareness, Pride, Confederate and all other non-U.S flags on city property. Burns told Fox News Digital in an interview that the measure was not meant to be discriminatory against any group, but to encourage residents to unite under a common American identity. Most of the backlash Burns said he has received has been from LGBTQ advocates. (Read more)

8. Pompeo not shutting door on joining a second Trump administration - The Hill
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday did not rule out accepting a position from former President Trump in a second administration, if he’s reelected in November.
Asked by Fox News’s Neil Cavuto if he would consider working under Trump again, Pompeo said it was “flattering” to hear that his name has come up. He joked that it must mean he “didn’t blow it” the first four years.
“I don’t often comment on jobs I’ve not been offered,” he told the “Your World Cavuto” host Friday, adding “But if I get a chance to serve and think that I can make a difference … I’m almost certainly going to say yes to that opportunity to try and deliver on behalf of the American people.”
“I’m confident President Trump will be looking for people who will faithfully execute what it is he asked them to do,” he continued after Cavuto suggested the former president would expect loyalty. “I think as a president, you should always want that from everyone.”
He added that he would want his team to do the same. (Read more)

The True Assembly Of The Saints
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, March 11, 2024
A friend recently confided in me. He said, “Because of my schedule, I often attend church online. I had missed a service and tuned in online. The pastor, who I highly regarded, preached a sermon about tithing. He essentially guilted the people about the money it takes to maintain the building, the church programs, and the costs of running the congregation. And I thought to myself, “is this what church is about.” Absent were references of the gathering together of the believers in heartfelt worship, he said, instead it was all about money and costs. He said he felt an emptiness in his heart. He asked if he was wrong. So often this is what church has become—a business. This is antithetical to God’s intentions.
Let us seek clarity. In Exodus 35-38:20, Moses assembled the people together. Vayakhel is Hebrew for “He Assembled.” Moses begins by teaching the people Torah, and first up is observing Shabbat, a day of complete rest, including the restriction to not build a fire on the Sabbath. In Mark 2:27-28, Jesus said, “The sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath. Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.” Jesus, as the Lord of the Sabbath, means that He is God in human form, and that He created the Sabbath. The Sabbath day points to the spiritual rest we all have in Messiah, as he said in Matthew 11:28: “Come to Me, all you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Read More

70 million-year-old giant dinosaur skeleton found connected from skull to tail
|
|
(CNN) — A chance discovery made in southern France has revealed a rare specimen — an almost complete dinosaur skeleton found connected from its hind skull to its tail.
The massive fossil came to light in May 2022, after now 25-year-old amateur paleontologist Damien Boschetto and his dog stumbled across something unusual while walking in a forest in Montouliers, France. Boschetto had noticed a cliff edge that had recently collapsed and decided to take a closer look, when he spotted an exposed bone sticking out of the ground, local media outlet France Bleu first reported on February 13.
The Archaeological and Paleontological Cultural Association at the Cruzy Museum, in collaboration with the French National Center for Scientific Research, identified the nearly 10-meter-long (32.8-foot-long) fossil as a Titanosaur skeleton upon excavation. Boschetto, who has been a member of the association for eight years, told CNN that while unearthing dinosaur remains is “always exciting and interesting for scientific research and the understanding of the ecosystems of that time,” finding the bones in their almost original anatomical position is what makes this find extraordinary.
“From a museography point of view, it will make it possible to present to the general public animals almost complete in anatomical positions, which is something great,” Boschetto added via email. Read More

3 States Advance 'Baby Olivia' Bill Requiring Schools to Teach Truth About Fetal Development
|
|
A handful of states recently advanced a pro-life bill that would require public school students to be shown a fetal development video as part of their health education. The "Baby Olivia" bill requires middle and high school students to view a medically accurate video created by Live Action on fetal development from the moment of fertilization until birth. Live Action is a non-profit pro-life organization founded by Lila Rose. So far, members of the Kentucky House advanced the bill as well as the West Virginia Senate, and the Iowa Senate. "The bill ensures the teaching to our children of basic facts about human development in a very approachable way," Iowa Rep. Anne Osmundson (R-Volga) said of the video. "This is scientific information. This is teaching basic biology to our children. And it helps to answer one of life's biggest questions: where did I come from?" While the laws do not require schools to play the video produced by Live Action, it does require that the educational material presented to children be "comparable."
The video reveals the remarkable development that takes place in the womb from a single-celled human to a baby with a beating heart, brainwaves, fingers, and toes. According to Live Action, the Baby Olivia video was created with "scientific accuracy" and reviewed by accredited medical professionals to show audiences the spectacular life of a baby growing within the womb. Since the animation's release, it has been viewed more than 30 million times, but it has not gone without censorship. As CBN News reported, Lila Rose alleged in 2022 that TikTok banned advertisements of Baby Olivia while allowing Planned Parenthood to run $80,000 in advertising. "We believe that one crucial step towards ending abortion in our country is saturating the online market with powerful and transformative pro-life content that counters pro-abortion lies and is proven to change minds and save lives," Rose said at the time. Read More for Info on Video (Source: CBN)
- Lord we lift PRAISE to You for the beauty of LIFE at conception! We celebrate this video being shown as educational material to middle school and high school students and pray it would be accepted in many districts across our nation to teach students about life in the womb. May the "Baby Olivia" video transform the minds of youth in America, teaching them the value and sanctity of life and our responsibility to protect it! In the powerful Name of Jesus Christ-Amen

Scripture: Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God. Revelation 19:1
Lyrics:
Once a sinner far from Jesus,
I was perishing with cold,
But the blessèd Savior heard me when I cried;
Then He threw His robe around me,
And He led me to His fold,
And I’m living on the hallelujah side.
Refrain
Oh, glory be to Jesus, let the hallelujahs roll;
Help me ring the Savior’s praises far and wide,
For I’ve opened up tow’rd Heaven
All the windows of my soul,
And I’m living on the hallelujah side.
Tho’ the world may sweep around me
With her dazzle and her dreams,
Yet I envy not her vanities and pride,
For my soul looks up to heaven,
Where the golden sunlight gleams,
And I’m living on the hallelujah side.
Refrain
Not for all earth’s golden millions
Would I leave this precious place,
Tho’ the tempter to persuade me oft has tried,
For I’m safe in God’s pavilion,
Happy in His love and grace,
And I’m living on the hallelujah side.
Refrain
Here the sun is always shining,
Here the sky is always bright;
There’s no place for gloomy Christians to abide,
For my soul is filled with music
And my heart with great delight,
And I’m living on the hallelujah side.
Refrain
And upon the streets of glory,
When we reach the other shore,
And have safely crossed the Jordan’s rolling tide,
You will find me shouting Glory
Just outside my mansion door
Where I’m living on the hallelujah side.
