Program That Allows 30,00 Migrants From Four Countries Each Month Upheld by Judge
|
|
The Biden administration can keep operating a program that allows a limited number of migrants from four countries to enter the U.S. on humanitarian grounds after a federal judge on Friday dismissed a challenge from Republican-led states.
U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton said Texas and 20 other states had not shown they had suffered financial harm because of the humanitarian parole program that allows up to 30,000 asylum-seekers into the U.S. each month from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela combined. That was something the states needed to prove to have legal standing to bring the lawsuit.
“In reaching this conclusion, the Court does not address the lawfulness of the Program,” Tipton wrote.
Eliminating the program would undercut a broader policy that seeks to encourage migrants to use the Biden administration’s preferred pathways into the U.S. or face stiff consequences. Read more

House Passes Laken Riley Act Requiring ICE to Detain Migrants for Theft
|
|
The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Laken Riley Act, which would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal immigrants charged with local theft or burglary, after a migrant accused of similar offenses was arrested for the murder of an American college student.
The act, which was passed by a 251-170 vote, is named after 22-year-old Laken Riley, a college nursing student who was recently killed on the campus of the University of Georgia.
"Praise God! #SayHerName LAKEN HOPE RILEY BILL - PASSED," Allyson Phillips, Riley's mother, posted on Facebook.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, the illegal immigrant from Venezuela charged with the brutal murder, was arrested in New York prior to the murder, but was not detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"The senseless murder of Laken Riley by Jose Ibarra, who had no business being in this country, was another wake-up call as Americans experience an illegal alien crime wave because of Joe Biden's open border and local sanctuary city policies," Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., who introduced the bill, told Fox News Digital earlier this week.

House Unanimously Advances Bill that Could Ban TikTok
|
|
The House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 7 unanimously approved two bills to secure Americans’ data and compel social media giant TikTok to divest from its Chinese ownership.
The committee’s 50–0 decision will allow the bills to move forward in the House, although it’s unclear if the full Congress will express the same bipartisan support for the bills as the committee.
Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) said the effort was essential to ending the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) efforts to “target, surveil, and manipulate Americans.”
“Protecting Americans’ data and addressing the serious national security threat posed by the CCP has been my top priority of all Congress,” Ms. McMorris Rodgers said.
“We have given TikTok a clear choice: Divest from your parent company, which is beholden to the Chinese Communist Party, and remain in operation in the United States, or side with the Chinese Communist Party and face a ban.” Read more

Former Rep Liz Cheney's spokesperson says report 'flatly false'
|

|
The Jan. 6 congressional committee allegedly falsely claimed it did not have evidence that showed former President Trump’s administration requested National Guard assistance, according to a report detailing a "hidden transcript" that was recently released.
"The former J6 Select Committee apparently withheld Mr. Ornato’s critical witness testimony from the American people because it contradicted their pre-determined narrative. Mr. Ornato’s testimony proves what Mr. Meadows has said all along: President Trump did in fact offer 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. Capitol, which was turned down," Georgia Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk said in a statement on Friday.
Loudermilk released a transcript of former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato’s interview with the congressional committee investigating Jan. 6 on Friday, following The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway, also a Fox News contributor, reporting, "Former Rep. Liz Cheney’s January 6 Committee suppressed evidence" that the Trump administration pushed for 10,000 National Guard members to be on the streets.
Ornato’s interview was conducted in January 2022 and attended by Cheney, among other members on the committee. In addition to serving as deputy chief of staff under Trump, Ornato served in the Secret Service for decades. The committee, which included seven Democrats and two now-former Republican Congress members, Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, concluded that it found "no evidence" that the Trump administration called for 10,000 National Guard members to Washington, D.C., to protect the Capitol.
Trump has long claimed that he requested the National Guard but that then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., failed to act on the request. Amid and following the congressional committee’s investigation, media outlets such as the Washington Post "debunked" Trump’s comments, repeatedly awarding him "Four Pinocchios."
Loudermilk on Friday released a transcript of Ornato’s interview with the committee that details how he allegedly overheard then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows asking D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to request as much protection for D.C. as she needed. "When it comes to the National Guard statement about having 10,000 troops or any other number of troops, do you recall any discussion prior to the 6th about whether and how many National Guard troops to deploy on January 6th?" a staffer with the committee asked Ornato. 1. Biden claims Netanyahu ‘hurting’ Israel, wants to address Knesset - World Israel News
President Joe Biden claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the ongoing war in Gaza is damaging Israel in an interview with MSNBC on Saturday evening, adding that he wished to speak to members of the Knesset to push for a change in the conflict’s management and plans for the post-war Strip.
Biden said that Netanyahu is “hurting Israel more than helping Israel,” due to the number of civilian lives lost during the current war.
Notably, Biden uncritically accepted the claim from the Hamas-controlled Gazan Health Ministry that some 30,000 civilians had been killed – a number which cannot be confirmed by neutral sources, and likely includes a significant number of Hamas terrorists.
The number of civilian deaths is “contrary to what Israel stands for, and I think it’s a big mistake,” Biden said. (Read more)

2. Gallant: Maritime aid corridor ‘will help collapse Hamas’ - JNS
The United States-led initiative to provide sea-based humanitarian aid to Gazans via a floating pier will “help lead to the collapse of the Hamas regime,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday.
“We will ensure that the aid reaches those to whom it should get to and that it does not reach those to whom it should not get to,” he added.
Gallant made the comments as he sailed on board a Dvora–type Israel Navy fast patrol boat off the coast of Gaza to closely examine plans to set up a floating humanitarian pier.
He was accompanied by Navy Commander Maj. Gen. David Sa’ar Salama, as well as the head of the IDF Civil Administration, which is in charge of working with the Palestinian population, Maj. Gen. Rassan Elian. (Read more)

3. Hamas-linked Arab-Israeli Cell Plotting Terror Attacks Busted, 13 Arrested - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israeli security forces on Sunday announced a terrorist cell comprising 13 Arabs from northern Israel were charged with planning attacks on behalf of Hamas. The intricate surveillance operation that led to the arrest was conducted by the Shin Bet security agency.
According to the indictment, one of the suspects maintained contact with Hamas terrorists in Gaza, who advised him on how to manufacture explosives and recruit additional members.
The suspects obtained guns from West Bank-based terrorists, storing a cache of weapons. (Read more)

4. Hezbollah bombards north with rockets after deadly IDF strike in Lebanon - Times of Israel
Hezbollah fired several volleys of rockets at northern Israel on Sunday, after an Israeli airstrike the previous night in Lebanon killed five people, including three members of the terror group.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, some 37 rockets were fired from Lebanon at the Mount Meron area on Sunday morning. There were no reports of injuries or damage in the attack.
In the first barrage of 30 rockets, one projectile was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, and in the second barrage minutes later, seven rockets were fired, with six of them being successfully downed, the IDF said. (Read more)

5. IDF spokesman: 'Lebanese citizens - contact the Mossad' - Israel National News
The IDF’s Arabic spokesman, Avichay Adraee, published a post on his X account in which he called for citzens of Lebanon to contact the Mossad and collaborate with Israel.
“I have recently received messages from Lebanese citizens, including those identifying themselves as Hezbollah operatives, who expressed their concern that Hezbollah will bring Lebanon the same fate as Gaza, ISIS, and Hamas, asking to contact Israeli officials,” he wrote.
“Unfortunately, I am not authorized for these purposes, and so cannot offer any direct answers. I can, however, direct you to the official Mossad Facebook page, which is marked with a blue check to indicate its authenticity. 1: FBI: Suspected Assassin Is Targeting US Officials- The Epoch Times
The FBI office in Miami, Florida, sent an alert on that it is “seeking information” on an Iranian intelligence officer who is wanted in connection to assassination plots against U.S. officials after the killing of former Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in early 2020.
Majid Dastjani Farahani, the officer, “is wanted for questioning in connection with the recruitment of individuals for various operations in the United States, to include lethal targeting of current and former United States Government officials as revenge for the killing of IRGC-QF Commander Qassem Soleimani,” the federal law enforcement agency said this week in a “most wanted“ notice.
A U.S. State Department-designated terrorist since 2005, Mr. Soleimani was killed during a Trump administration-ordered targeted airstrike on Jan. 3, 2020, near Baghdad, Iraq, for the killings of American soldiers and plots to target Americans.

2: Bloodthirsty Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua sets up shop in US as border authorities sound alarm - Fox
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is warning agents to be on the lookout for members of a notorious Venezuelan prison gang coming across the southern border -- just as the socialist country is refusing to take its citizens back.
A CBP source provided Fox News with an internal CBP intelligence bulletin revealing tattoos and identifiers for Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang. Members of that gang have been entering the U.S. illegally through the southern border.
Fox News reported this week that the brother of the suspect in the killing of Georgia student Laken Riley has ties to the gang. Both the suspect and his brother are Venezuelans who entered the U.S. illegally.
Federal authorities have been warning that the gang, also known as TdA and known for its violent turf wars as it expanded into other countries in South and Central America, is trying to establish itself in the U.S., where police are already linking it to organized crime. The FBI has also warned that the gang could team up with the bloodthirsty MS-13.
Last month two suspects in the assault of two NYPD officers were revealed to be members of TdA.
But CBP and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sources have expressed frustration to Fox News that Venezuelan gang members are extremely difficult to deport because Venezuela is currently not taking them back. (Read more)

3: Federal Judge Rules That Christian Employers Do Not Have To Pay For Transgender Surgeries- Daily Wire
A federal judge in North Dakota ruled on Monday that the Biden administration cannot compel Christian employers and health care providers to pay for transgender surgeries and other procedures.
Judge Daniel Traynor for the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota ruled in favor of the Christian Employers Alliance, which had challenged the Biden administration’s interpretation of federal discrimination law. Traynor, a Trump nominee, said that the Christian groups were protected under religious liberty protections from being forced to provide “gender transition services.”
The judge ruled against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Department of Health and Human Services interpretation of discrimination law, which would mandate that every employer covers transgender surgeries. Traynor said that the Christian Employers Alliance’s “religious beliefs are substantially burdened by the monetary penalties it faces for refusing to violate its beliefs.” (Read more)

4: Hungary's Orbán to meet with Trump, not Biden, on visit to US courting foreign policy-Fox
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is expected to visit former President Donald Trump at his Florida home of Mar-a-Lago on Friday but is not scheduled to meet with President Biden or visit the White House during his trip courting potential foreign policy in the U.S.
The visit was first reported last week by The New York Times.
Orbán’s trip to the U.S. comes without an invitation from the White House, according to The Guardian. The Hungarian prime minister is expected to speak at a panel with the leader of the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation on Thursday before heading to Trump's West Palm Beach estate. 5: NATO welcomes 32nd member, expert warns bigger bloc 'exacerbates' Putin's fears- Fox
Sweden has officially joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) after almost a year of endless wrangling and negotiations, adding another key piece to the defense against Russian interests.
"Sweden is now a NATO member," Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote in a statement published on social media platform X.
"Thank you all allies for welcoming us as the 32nd member," he continued. "We will strive for unity, solidarity and burden-sharing, and will fully adhere to the Washington Treaty values: freedom, democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law. Stronger together." (Read more)

6: Biden Wants To Raise The Minimum Corporate Tax Rate By A Whopping 40%- Daily Wire
During President Biden’s State of the Union, he will unveil his plan to raise the minimum corporate tax by a whopping 40% as well as implement a tax on the rich that would be at least 25%.
Biden would raise the corporate tax rate to 28% and the corporate minimum tax to 21%. Currently, the minimum corporate tax rate stands at 15% after Biden implemented that earlier in his presidency. Biden would also refuse companies tax deductions for employees making over $1 million. “The President is proposing to levy a 25 percent minimum tax on the wealthiest 0.01 percent, those with wealth of more than $100 million,” the White House stated.
Former President Trump, the presumptive GOP 2024 presidential nominee, would reportedly make the tax cuts he implemented in his first term – which reduced corporate taxes from 35% to 21% — permanent.
During Trump’s administration, the four quarters preceding January 2019 saw real gross domestic product soar more than 3 percent, the best since the second term of George W. Bush’s presidency 13 years before. (Read more)

7: No Labels Votes To Run ‘Unity Ticket’ For 2024 After Months Of Considering Bid- Daily Caller
Centrist group No Labels announced Friday that it will run a third-party “Unity Ticket” in the 2024 general election, according to a press release.
No Labels had been weighing such a bid for months to serve as an alternative to both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. The group’s 800 delegates across all 50 states voted nearly unanimously to advance the third-party ticket, with No Labels now set to begin vetting candidates, according to the press release.
“These citizen leaders have spent months discussing with one another the kind of leadership they want to see in the White House in 2024,” Mike Rawlings, No Labels national convention chair, said in a statement. “These are some of the most civic minded, thoughtful, and patriotic Americans I have ever met. They take their responsibility seriously. Even though we met virtually, their emotion and desire to bring this divided nation back together came right through the screen. I wasn’t sure exactly where No Labels delegates would land today but they sent an unequivocal message: Keep going.” (Read more)

8: ‘Clearly Overlooked This’: Probe Finds Strange Communication Devices On Chinese Cranes In US Ports -Daily Caller
A congressional investigation has discovered strange communication equipment on Chinese-built cargo cranes at U.S seaports, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
Rather than building them domestically at potentially higher costs, the U.S. relies heavily on Chinese-built cargo cranes that are relatively cheap to produce and equip at seaports across the country. The congressional probe discovered that several of these cranes, built by Chinese mega-manufacturer ZMPC, contain communications devices that were not requested or don’t appear to support standard operations, heightening existing espionage concerns, according to the WSJ.
U.S. intelligence has warned that Chinese cranes – equipped with an array of sensors and equipment – could be exploited by Beijing, as part of China’s larger effort to disrupt national security through several fronts. Beijing continues to insist the U.S.’ national security concerns about Chinese-built cranes are “entirely paranoia” and constitute “[an abuse of] national power to obstruct normal economic and trade cooperation,” according to the WSJ. Ex-CIA Head Brennan Hints at Intel Community Withholding Sensitive InfoFrom Trump After He Gets Nomination
|

Ex-CIA director John Brennan told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Thursday that the intelligence community may withhold "sensitive" intelligence information from former President Trump even if he becomes the GOP presidential nominee later this year.
The MSNBC senior national security and intelligence analyst, expressed his belief that Trump will be briefed on some national security information – according to the 72-year tradition of sitting administrations tapping U.S. intelligence officials to brief the presidential candidates of major political parties – however, he will not get highly sensitive information.
He mentioned Trump’s indictment for mishandling classified information, suggesting that Trump might abuse such classified information if he was privy to it.
Brennan’s assessment came in response to Wallace bringing up a new Politico article detailing how U.S. intelligence officials are planning to brief Trump but have reservations due to "his handling of classified information."
The piece stated, the "normally humdrum decision was fraught with unusual risk this year due to the pending court case and Trump’s historically cavalier attitude toward national security information."
Brennan told Wallace, "It’s somewhat surreal that an individual who is under indictment for mishandling classified information is going to be getting classified intelligence briefings." (Read more)

What will happen when the next supervolcano erupts, according to NASA
|
|
|
A huge eruption is inevitable. But we're not doomed.
NASA has proposed sci-fi plans to potentially shut down a supervolcano — should one show signs of an imminent eruption.
But such a geologic scheme might not ever be necessary. In new research from NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University, scientists found that the most powerful scale of eruption — which emits a mind-boggling amount of material into the atmosphere — would probably not plunge Earth into a deep, cold volcanic winter.
Indeed, the prodigious gasses and ash blasted into the sky by a "super-eruption," which erupts over 240 cubic miles (1,000 cubic kilometers) of magma, would inevitably block some sunlight and have a cooling impact. It just likely wouldn't be devastating to life globally, according to this latest research.
"The relatively modest temperature changes we found most compatible with the evidence could explain why no single super-eruption has produced firm evidence of global-scale catastrophe for humans or ecosystems," Zachary McGraw, the study's lead author and a researcher at NASA GISS and Columbia University, said in a statement. The research was recently published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Climate.

VICTORY: ACLJ Defends the Rights of Christians to Pray in a Senior Living Complex
|

(Minnesota) — [ACLJ.org] The ACLJ won another victory on behalf of a Bible study in a senior living complex, this time in Minnesota. Although discrimination in senior living facilities has become a recent trend, our victories have been consistent too. We have won similar victories recently on behalf of clients in Missouri and Texas. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the provision of housing, and we have emphasized that landlords cannot treat religious tenants differently in each of these cases. In previous cases, tenants were barred completely from religious meetings. But in Minnesota, our clients were discriminated against in a different way. They were still technically allowed to meet but subjected to different rules and told they couldn't share their events with the community the way any other event would be shared.
Our clients hold a Bible study in their apartment complex. The complex's common areas are open to all residents and are reserved to host a variety of resident events, such as card games, board games, and bridge clubs. There is also a community calendar that lists a variety of events, including special events, bingo, birthday parties, different games, swim groups, chair yoga, blackjack, happy hour, etc. Initially, our clients held their Bible studies in peace and were able to advertise the study on the community calendar, community boards, and the community room door, notifying others that the room had been reserved for their Bible study. But a few months ago, management stated that they could no longer have their group listed on the community calendar, as their group name could be "offensive" to others. They were also instructed to remove any notices of their meeting from community bulletin boards. A blackboard that announced the Bible study was also temporarily confiscated.
