No Progress on Ceasefire in Russia-Ukraine Talks in Turkey
|
|
No progress has been made on a 24-hour ceasefire in Ukraine, much less on an end to the war, according to the country’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba, who discussed the matter with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Turkey on Thursday.
“We also raised the issue of a 24-hour ceasefire to resolve the most pressing humanitarian issues. We did not make progress on this, since it seems that there are other decision-makers for this matter in Russia,” Kuleba told reporters at a press conference in the Mediterranean city of Antalya.
Discussions between the two foreign ministers were held on the sidelines of a diplomatic summit. They’re the first high-level talks since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, which he calls a “special military operation” to disarm the country’s military and dislodge leaders whom he calls “neo-Nazis.”

1. US House approves $1 billion for Iron Dome replenishment - Jerusalem Post
The House Appropriations Committee released the omnibus bill, which also included $250 million for the nonprofit security grant program (NSGP), earlier on Wednesday. The bill must now pass the US Senate before it is officially implemented.
The package comprises all 12 2022 fiscal year appropriations bills and supplemental funding to support Ukraine and manage the corona pandemic. A vote was said to be imminent.
The Iron Dome funding has been stalled for six months. The House of Representatives approved a stand-alone bill in September to provide Israel with $1b. for replenishing the anti-missile system. The vote passed 420-9. In the Senate, however, Republican Sen. Rand Paul from Kentucky blocked several attempts to fast-track the bill by unanimous consent. Paul said that while he supports the Iron Dome, he thinks “it should be paid for.” (Read more)

2. Herzog advances Israel-Turkey ties in meeting with Erdogan - Jerusalem Post
ANKARA – President Isaac Herzog became the first Israeli leader to visit Turkey in over a decade on Wednesday, marking a thaw in relations between the countries.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara and Jerusalem are working toward exchanging ambassadors for the first time since 2018, which would mark the resumption of full normalization. Toward that end, Cavusoglu plans to visit Israel and meet with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in April. The Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said the trip has not been finalized.
Another major result of Herzog’s meeting is that the sides agreed to establish a mechanism by which to work out disagreements, rather than the repeated withdrawals of ambassadors as Erdogan did when he opposed Israeli actions towards the Palestinians. (Read more)

3. Jordan’s king, Israeli foreign minister meet to calm tensions in Jerusalem - World Israel News
Israel’s foreign minister and Jordan’s king met in the Jordanian capital of Amman on Thursday in an effort to calm tensions in Jerusalem ahead of holy celebrations for Muslims, Christians and Jews.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II hosted Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in a new sign of warming relations between the neighboring Mideast nations.
“The peace between us isn’t just good neighborliness, but is also our moral responsibility to both our peoples,” Lapid said in remarks released by Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
Abdullah said that maintaining peace means resuming talks toward a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians. There have been no substantive talks on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in more than a decade. (Read more)

4. Two additional polio carriers located in Jerusalem - Israel National News
Israel's Health Ministry on Thursday morning reported that that evidence of polio has been found in two fecal samples in and around Jerusalem.
So far, only one girl has been diagnosed as ill with polio. The two additional samples are the first evidence that hers is not an isolated case.
One of the samples was taken as part of an epidemiological investigation conducted by the Jerusalem District Health Ministry office, to locate those who were in contact with the sick girl. The [additional] girl has no symptoms. As part of the investigation, three samples were found to be negative for polio, and another 19 are currently being tested by the central laboratory for viruses. (Read more)

5. After coalition battle, Knesset reauthorizes ban on Palestinian family unification - Times of Israel
After months of coalition infighting, the Knesset on Thursday night reauthorized a law that largely bars Palestinians who marry Israelis from receiving residency in Israel.
The so-called Citizenship Law was passed in 2003 as a temporary security order. It was renewed on an annual basis until last July, when Israel’s fragile coalition — which includes leftists and an Arab party — failed to marshal the votes to pass it in a dramatic pre-dawn vote.
On Thursday, the law passed with 45 votes in favor and 15 opposed. The left-wing Meretz and Islamist Ra’am parties voted against the rest of the coalition. But right-wing opposition lawmakers — including Likud and Religious Zionism — voted in favor, easily handing the coalition the necessary votes.
Israeli politicians say the law is both an essential security measure to prevent Palestinian terror attacks and a means of preserving a Jewish majority in Israel. Israel’s High Court has twice upheld the family unification ban — both times by a single vote, 6-5. (Read more)

The Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Vladimirovna Zakharova, told the United States on Wednesday, “We have found your biological weapons!”
“There was statement made by the Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, leave no doubt, will not give Washington to be silent this time. Their attempts, while spilling blood, to find biological and chemical weapons throughout the world. We have found your own products. We have found your biological material. As it turns out it was all happening in Ukraine,” RT, Russia state-affiliated media reported.

2. White House Warns Russia May Use Chemical Or Biological Weapons in Ukraine – The Epoch Times
Russia may be preparing to “use chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine,” after Moscow falsely claimed the United States is developing illegal chemical weapons in the country, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
Psaki made the remarks in a series of tweets on Wednesday after Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova this week accused Ukraine of running chemical and biological weapons labs funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. Zakharova provided no evidence to back up her claims.
The claim is “preposterous,” said Psaki, and “the kind of disinformation operation we’ve seen repeatedly from the Russians over the years in Ukraine and in other countries, which have been debunked.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that it had received documents that showed the Ukrainian Ministry of Health “sent an instruction to all biological laboratories” on Feb. 24 to urgently destroy the “stored stocks of dangerous pathogens,” including plague, anthrax, tularemia, and cholera. 3. Biden bans U.S. imports of Russian oil in ongoing war on AMERICAN consumers as gas prices skyrocket further – Newstarget.com
“President” Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that the United States would cease imports of Russian oil, while still refusing to unleash America’s oil- and gas-producing capabilities the way his predecessor did while still developing green energy in the meantime. “Today I am announcing the United States is targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy. We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy,” Biden said during a press conference at the White House. “That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at U.S. ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin’s war machine. “This is a step we’re taking to inflict further pain on Putin,” Biden said.
In 2021, the first year of the Biden regime disaster, the U.S. imported around 672,000 barrels of Russian crude daily, according to data from the Energy Information Administration, which comprised about 8 percent of the total U.S. imports of oil and refined products. Most of U.S. crude imports, however, come from Canada, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, so the U.S. is far less dependent on Russian oil and gas than our European allies.
However, during Donald Trump’s presidency, the U.S. actually became energy independent under his policies of unleashing the American oil and gas sectors, making the U.S. an actual exporter of fossil fuels. Had Biden not come in and immediately reversed nearly all of Trump’s existing energy policies including killing off the vitally needed Keystone XL pipeline, America would be in a much better position to backfill lost Russian oil and gas for our European allies.
But no. That would mean making America — and Americans — far more independent, and of course, Biden’s left-wing Marxist regime hates liberty and independence. Better, then, to destroy our economy as well and make Americans far more dependent on government largess, which will give the tyrants far more power and control over our lives. (Read more)

4. Former Keystone Pipeline worker says US energy crisis is result of Biden's policies: 'We tried to warn you' – Fox news
A former Keystone XL pipeline worker said the energy industry "tried to warn" President Biden against policies hindering U.S. oil and gas production – policies the worker said have caused the country's growing energy crisis.
"We tried to warn this administration back when they canceled the Keystone Pipeline" that it was also "canceling national security, foreign policy and energy," Neal Crabtree told Fox News. "They all kinda go hand-in-hand."
The average price for a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. hit a record high this week, as oil neared $130 per barrel. Biden
announced Tuesday that he was banning Russian oil and gas imports, which he said targets the "main artery of Russia’s economy."
Biden said the decision will further increase already-high domestic gas prices and warned fuel companies that it is "no time for profiteering or price gouging." He blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for rising gas prices in the U.S.

5. 4.3 Million Americans Quit Their Jobs in January – Gateway Pundit
4.3 million Americans quit their jobs in January, according to a new report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday. This new report comes on the heels of the Biden Regime claiming 678,000 jobs were added in February, bringing the unemployment rate to 3.8%.
The Washington Post reported:
Some 4.3 million Americans quit or changed jobs in January, edging down a bit compared to December but still in record-high territory in yet another sign that workers continue to have the upper hand in a tight labor market.
Employers hired 6.5 million people in January, while reporting 11.3 million job openings that month, as the omicron variant picked up speed in many parts of the country, according to a new report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The number of people who quit their jobs decreased slightly, by 151,000, in January. Even so, quits in the finance and insurance sector rose by 30,000, an indication that white-collar workers are looking for new opportunities as many offices move ahead with reopening plans.
The quits increased in the hospitality industry, transportation and healthcare thanks to Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates.

6. Facebook Called Out for Vaccine Marketing Alliance – The Epoch Times
A health alliance formed by Facebook in June of 2021 has been funding research into “how best to use behavioral science, social media and digital platforms to build confidence in and access to vaccines.”
Called the “Alliance for Advancing Health Online (AAHO),” members of the Facebook-led group include the World Health Organization, pharmaceutical giant Merck, and the CDC Foundation—which is the fundraising arm of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has corporate partners that include Pfizer and other world giants in vaccine manufacturing.
In an email sent last June to White House staffers announcing the formation of the alliance, Facebook described it as an initiative to “boost vaccination confidence through social media” noting that a “vaccine confidence fund” had been created under the group to finance campaigns to diminish vaccine hesitancy. 7. Congressional Republicans call for an end to Biden’s COVID vaccine mandates – Lifesite News

More than 40 Republican members of Congress are calling for an end to federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates, in a pair of appeals that is likely to fall on deaf ears within the Biden White House.
The Daily Wire reports that ten senators, including Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul, signed a March 4 letter urging their colleagues to join them as they “remain strongly opposed to the mandates and … continue to work to end their imposition on Americans,” followed by a March 7 letter by 36 House members, including Ralph Norman, Elise Stefanik, and Louie Gohmert, warning Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas that vaccine mandates on truckers will lead to “limitations and delays [that] will have a catastrophic impact on our already fragile supply chain and proliferate rising food prices.”
“History will bear record of whether we chose to endure tyranny, or oppose it, in this pivotal moment,” reads the Senate letter. “We invite you to stand with us and oppose the continued funding of these mandates.” It stresses that “this is a GOP conference position,” and “as such, it should be a part of the negotiation for inclusion in any spending bill.” The signatories urge their colleagues to demand a roll call vote on an amendment to defund whatever vaccine mandates remain in effect, which would not succeed in taking effect but would put every member of the Senate on the record and place pressure on mandate supporters going into the midterm elections. 8. Truck convoy hits the DC Beltway for the 4th day this time with Sen. Ted Cruz - WTOP News; Washington, D.C.
A trucker convoy is hitting the DC Beltway for the 4th time after taking a break Wednesday due to the rain. This time, Sen. Ted Cruz,is with them. The group, known as the People's Convoy, has been in Hagerstown since March 4. They are here to protest against COVID-19 mandates.
So far the traffic impacts during the week have been minimal.
Organizers met with members of Congress Tuesday. While truckers looped around the beltway for the third day in a row Tuesday, Republican Sens. Ron Johnson, of Wisconsin, and Cruz, of Texas, met with convoy members. The group discussed "the harmful effects of President Biden's vaccine mandates" with the senators.
7News spoke to several supporters who had gathered along bridges to cheer on the group over the weekend. "I’m a patriot. I always have been. I’m really outraged what’s been done with the country under COVID," said Lin Bradley, of Bethesda. The convoy has called the vaccine and mask mandates a "government overreach." (Read more)

9. Texas Elections Official to Resign After Thousands of Uncounted Ballots Found – The Epoch Times
The Harris County elections commissioner is resigning after 10,000 uncounted ballots for last week’s primary were discovered, according to an announcement posted online on Monday.
“Today I am submitting my resignation, effective July 1,” Isabel Longoria said in the announcement. “I think this date ensures that there is a presiding officer during the May and June elections and allows the election commission the time they need to find a replacement. I remain committed to the office and its mission and hope to aid in defeating harmful rhetoric to ensure successful elections in the future.”
It’s not clear exactly why Longoria was resigning. The Harris County Republican Party in Texas recently filed a lawsuit against the commissioner after the 10,000 uncounted ballots were discovered. (Read more)

Reputable studies are surfacing that the COVID vaccine was not as “safe and effective” as the government narrative and corporate media propaganda indicated. Many sincere people who “did their research” and “consulted their doctor” prior to getting the shot are now facing health issues because information was being withheld or censored that would have influenced a decision against the shot. Also, the medical community is reluctant to blame the mRNA shot, especially if the health concerns arise well after the shots were administered. Studies, however, are now tracking the side effects of the shot with the actual health issues experienced. How you deal with your post-COVID shot health is very important.
A review of several studies may lend some insight into what you may experience regarding side effects, signaling how you approach your health management. First is a confidential Pfizer report from its safety database submitted to the FDA in April 2021 citing 42,086 reports of 158,893 adverse events from the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Side effects on pregnant women (including abortions), heart conditions, blood clots, anaphylactic shock, and lack of efficacy were withheld from the public. The Appendix of the report listed 9 pages–472 lines and 2,072 words–of “Adverse Events of Special Interest.” The database indicated that 9.69% of the cases were fatal. Russia May be Preparing Massive Cyber Attack After Announcing Country Will Disconnect from Global Internet on March 11

As Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his invasion of neighboring Ukraine, his government announced earlier this week that the country will be disconnecting from the global internet in order to defend against external cyberattacks.
But that decision has led others to believe he may be planning on launching his own against Western nations including the U.S.
“Russia will completely disconnect from the global internet on March 11,” notes the website Strange Sounds, adding: “No later than March 11, all servers and domains must be transferred to the Russian zone (.ru). In addition, detailed data on the network infrastructure of the sites is being collected.”
At the same time, the World Economic Forum has removed Cyber Polygon from its website — which describes a large-scale cyberattack that essentially sends the entire world back into the 1800s before electricity and modern modes of communication. (Read more)

Crew successfully completes 'world’s most
challenging shipwreck search'

The missing vessel was located nearly 10,000 feet below the surface of some of the world's coldest waters -- and crew members found it in almost pristine condition 107 years after it went down.
An expedition team’s journey into the cold depths of the Antarctic led to a discovery over a century in the making.
On March 9, the Endurance22 Expedition uncovered the wreckage of the Endurance, the ship that carried a crew of explorers which attempted the first land crossing of Antarctica in the early 20th century. In 1915, the ship commissioned by Sir Ernest Shackleton, who hailed from Ireland, was cornered within dense pack ice in the Weddell Sea, forcing the 28-member crew to abandon the Endurance for a months-long escape.
After departing from Cape Town, South Africa, in early February and spending weeks conducting a challenging search, the researchers eventually reached the resting place of the Endurance in the Weddell Sea, located at a depth of 9,869 feet, approximately 4 miles south of the initial wreckage point. The voyage was organized by the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, with the expedition crew working from a South African research vessel known as S.A. Agulhas II. Read More

Airbnb is Setting Up 100,000 Refugees From Ukraine With Free Housing

Airbnb.org has announced it will offer free, short-term housing to up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine. Airbnb’s co-founders have already sent letters to leaders across Europe, starting with those in Poland, Germany, Hungary, and Romania—offering support in welcoming refugees within their borders, and promising to work closely with governments to best support the specific needs in each country, including by providing longer-term stays.
This announcement is part of a larger movement by the company to support refugees and other displaced people around the world. Last month, the organization announced that it has provided housing to 21,300 Afghan refugees, and it has set a new goal of providing free, temporary housing to another 20,000 refugees from Afghanistan, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, and other regions.
Over the past five years, Airbnb and Airbnb.org have connected more than 54,000 refugees and asylees—including from Syria, Venezuela, and Afghanistan—to temporary housing through Airbnb.org partners. Last year, Airbnb.org also announced the creation of its Refugee Fund and has galvanized more than 4,000 donors to further support its work with refugees and asylum seekers worldwide. “We know that Hosts and guests on Airbnb around the world are eager to stand up and assist this massive effort to help those fleeing Ukraine,” the company has stated.
