It is not a secret that over the past decade, hundreds of large U.S. corporations have adopted woke policies, regularly injecting left-wing ideals into their products, services and employment practices. But some of these businesses have recently gone much further than merely promoting social justice causes; they have chosen to target conservative customers and employees, coercing or forcing Americans to abandon their deeply held beliefs in order to receive important goods or services or to stay employed.
Although many conservatives have heard stories about corporate discrimination in recent years, they have often struggled to keep track of which businesses have been part of this movement, and which have largely stayed on the sidelines. A new project launched by the 1792 Exchange, a nonprofit organization, seeks to shed light on this important problem.
The 1792 Exchange recently launched its Spotlight Report, which assesses more than 1,000 companies’ "policies, practices, and other relevant criteria to determine the likelihood a company will cancel a contract or client, or boycott, divest, or deny services based on views or beliefs."
The 1792 Exchange team then used those assessments to assign businesses to three categories — "Lower Risk," "Medium Risk," and "High Risk." (Read more, including the

Supreme Court to Hear Arguments on Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan
|

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding challenges on the legality of the Biden administration’s contested program to forgive billions of dollars in federally-backed student loan debt. Confirmation that the High Court would hear the case came on Dec. 1, 2022.
The Biden administration announced the three-pronged Student Debt Relief program in a Fact Sheet on Aug. 24, 2022, just a little over two months before the Nov. 8, 2022, midterm elections. As previously reported by The Epoch Times, some suggested the program was one of several efforts to “buy votes.”
“Virtually every legal scholar that I have spoken to has said that the president of the United States really doesn’t have the authority to do this, and the people at the White House and Domestic Policy Council know that,” Tom Basile told The Epoch Times. “But they also know they couldn’t get it through Congress so they figure they would do this and let people believe they were going to be able to do this.”
Basile also suggested that this wasn’t the first time the Biden administration has pushed for a program they knew would face legal challenges so they could make Republicans “look like the bad guys by trying to uphold the rule of law.”
“They knew it would be litigated,” Basile noted, adding that the move is “very similar” to what the administration did with the eviction moratorium. (Read more)

A Chinese virologist who sounded the alarm in early 2020 about where the coronavirus came from said Monday the U.S. has reached a "milestone achievement" after a classified intelligence report from the Energy Department reportedly found the virus most likely originated in a Chinese lab.
Dr. Li Meng Yan told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" in September 2020 that the Chinese government intentionally manufactured and released the COVID-19 virus, leading to nationwide shutdowns and deaths. Host Tucker Carlson asked Yan on Monday if she still believes the virus was intentionally released nearly three years after the pandemic started. "Of course, it was not an accident," she responded.
"Maybe for people who don't have this kind of biosafety lab 3 or 4 experience on coronavirus, maybe it's easy for them to accept the accident lab leak. However, I'm a scientist, working in [a] research lab using coronavirus. And I can tell you, based on the print protocol and also the other surveillance system, it would be impossible for the lab leak [to] accidentally happen in such [a] lab and cause the Wuhan outbreak and also the pandemic," Yan said.
Carlson suggested the Chinese government unleashed COVID to destroy Western economies and elevate their own position globally.
Yan said based on the evidence she has seen and the source she has spoken to, the virus was "intentionally brought out of this strict lab and released in the community."
"However, I don't think the outbreak in Wuhan was intentional. I would say it was because [the] CCP government and the military scientists underestimated the transmissibility," she added. "That's why finally it got out of control and the cost [was] a local outbreak. 1. US demands prosecution of Jewish rioters in Arab village, compensation for damage - World Israel News
The U.S. administration said on Monday that it expects Israel to prosecute those who participated in the Huwara riot following the murder of two Israeli siblings in the Palestinian town, and to compensate those whose homes and property were damaged or destroyed.
“We expect the Israeli government to ensure full accountability and legal prosecution of those responsible for these attacks in addition to compensation for the loss of homes and property,” said State Department spokesperson Ned Price during a press briefing.
He called the Sunday night riot by hundreds of Israeli Jews in the Palestinian town of Huwara “completely unacceptable.”
Settler violence is “causing an enormous amount of pain,” he stated, according to The Jerusalem Post. (Read more)

2. Protesters to hold nationwide ‘day of disruption’ against justice overhaul Wednesday - Times of Israel
The protest movement against the government’s justice overhaul plan was set to escalate its tactics on Wednesday as it planned a “national day of disruption.”
The day was set to include a long list of demonstrations and protest marches around the country, as well as temporary strikes at various workplaces and schools, the blocking of roads and “house calls” at or near the homes of coalition lawmakers and ministers.
The protest events were laid out in great detail on a dedicated website and map(Hebrew), with organizers indicating there were more planned actions that had not been announced publicly. (Read more)

3. Judea and Samaria activist: 'Almost every hour, we have another terror attack' - Israel National News
As a Land of Israel activist who lives in Judea and Samaria, attorney Nati Rom gives Israel National News a description of what’s it like these days dealing with daily acts of terror.
“It is scary. There is an intifada, there is an increase in terror attacks. Day after day, almost every hour, we have another terror attack,” Rom says. “Almost every day we have casualties.”
When asked what needs to be done, he replies that Israel needs a clear plan to fight terror. He blames years of international pressure and progressive ideology from preventing the heads of Israeli security agencies from being able to speak in language that would serve to prevent terror attacks. 4. IAEA confirms Iran on verge of weapons-grade enrichment, Pentagon sounds alarm - Israel Hayom
International inspectors found uranium particles enriched up to 83.7% in Iran's underground Fordo nuclear site, a report seen Tuesday by The Associated Press said.
The confidential quarterly report by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency distributed to member states likely will raise tensions further between Iran and the West over its program. That's even as Tehran already faces internal unrest after months of protests and Western anger over sending bomb-carrying drones to Russia for its war on Ukraine.
The IAEA report only speaks about "particles," suggesting that Iran isn't building a stockpile of uranium enriched above 60% – the level it has been enriching at for some time.
The IAEA report described inspectors discovering on Jan. 21 that two cascades of IR-6 centrifuges at Iran's Fordo facility had been configured in a way "substantially different" from what had been previously declared. The IAEA took samples the following day, which showed particles up to 83.7% purity, the report said. (Read more)

1. Millions Of People Are About To Get Kicked Off Medicaid - The Daily Caller
Between 5 million and 14 million people will likely lose Medicaid coverage when COVID-19 public health emergency ends April 1, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) of 2020 blocked states from disenrolling people from Medicaid until the end of the month in which the public health emergency was ended, according to KFF; the continuous coverage provision will expire March 31. States typically check recipients’ Medicaid eligibility and remove it if they acquire health insurance through an employer or begin making too much money to qualify for the program, according to The Associated Press.
Medicaid recipients often experience temporary gaps in coverage due to temporary ineligibility, meaning they have to reenroll after being disenrolled in a process known as “churn,” according to KFF; the continuous coverage provision drastically reduced churn by blocking disenrollment. (Read more)

2. Biden to nominate Julie Su as next US labor secretary - AP News
President Joe Biden is nominating Julie Su, the current deputy and former California official, as his next labor secretary, replacing the departing incumbent, former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
Su, a civil rights attorney and former head of California’s labor department, was central to negotiations between labor and freight rail companies late last year, working to avert an economically debilitating strike. She also has worked to broaden employee training programs and crack down on wage theft. If confirmed by the Senate, Su would also be the first Asian-American in the Biden administration to serve in the Cabinet at the secretary level.

3. DeSantis appoints 'Moms for Liberty' co-founder to new Disney World governing board - Fox Business
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday appointed five people to lead the new board that will govern the district housing Walt Disney World, putting the final nail in the coffin of Disney's self-governing power after the company took a public stand against Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" law, misleadingly labeled "Don't Say Gay" by critics.
DeSantis announced the board members at the signing ceremony for legislation that renames the Reedy Creek Improvement District, where Disney World is located, as the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and establishes a board with term-limited members to oversee its operations. The members include prominent Florida lawyers and conservative activists, some of whom have made contributions to his campaign or political action committee.

4. U.S. Marshals Service suffers 'major' security breach that compromises sensitive information - NBC News
The U.S. Marshals Service suffered a security breach over a week ago that compromises sensitive information, multiple senior U.S. law enforcement officials said Monday.
In a statement Monday, U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson Drew Wade acknowledged the breach, telling NBC News: “The affected system contains law enforcement sensitive information, including returns from legal process, administrative information, and personally identifiable information pertaining to subjects of USMS investigations, third parties, and certain USMS employees.”
Wade said the incident occurred Feb. 17, when the Marshals Service "discovered a ransomware and data exfiltration event affecting a stand-alone USMS system." The system was disconnected from the network, and the Justice Department began a forensic investigation, Wade said.
He added that on Wednesday, after the agency briefed senior department officials, "those officials determined that it constitutes a major incident.” (Read more)

5. Drug-resistant stomach bug spreading across US: ‘Serious public health alert - New York Post
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a “serious public health” alert, warning of a nationwide spike in “extensively drug-resistant” shigellosis.
The highly contagious shigella bacterial infection attacks the intestines and causes inflammatory, sometimes bloody diarrhea, according to the CDC’s “emergency and preparedness response.”
Health-care providers “should understand the nuances of testing and managing infections, especially when treating patients from populations at increased risk of drug-resistant shigellosis including: young children; gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men; people experiencing homelessness; international travelers; and people living with HIV,” according to the new research.
Kids younger than 5 years old — as well as those in day care and educational settings — and travelers to places “where water and food may be unsafe and sanitation is poor” are at additional risk of contracting a shigellosis infection. (Read more)

6. Biden ‘Believes’ Gain-Of-Function Research Is Necessary To Stop Future Pandemics - The Daily Caller
President Joe Biden supports gain-of-function research, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said during Monday’s White House press briefing.
“Gain of function” research involves creating a more dangerous strain of a disease by making it deadlier or more contagious for the purposes of obtaining a scientific benefit, according to the National Institutes for Health. Such research is used for the purposes of assessing potential biological warfare threats or for developing vaccines and other medical treatments, causing NIH to consider it dual-use technology.
“[President Biden] believes that it’s important to help prevent future pandemics, which means, he understands that there has to be legitimate scientific research into the sources or potential sources of pandemics so that we understand it, so that we can prevent them, we prevent them from happening, obviously, but he also believes in and this is why he wants the whole of government effort here to understand it, that that research has to be done must be done in a safe and secure manner, as and as transparent as possible to the rest of the world, so that so people know what’s going on. So, I think that’s a fancy way of saying yes.” Kirby said when asked by a reporter whether President Biden believed the rewards of such research “outweighed the risk.” (Read more)

7. NATO Yields to Ukraine: Promises Membership - Brietbart
Ukraine’s long-standing pleas for NATO membership received an affirmative response Tuesday with the promise of it joining “in the long term” sure to infuriate Moscow.
The secretary-general of the Western military alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, stressed the immediate challenge is Ukraine remaining an independent nation free from the invading forces of neighbor Russia as he flagged the future membership.
“NATO allies have agreed that Ukraine will become a member of our alliance, but at the same time that is a long-term perspective,” Stoltenberg told reporters during a visit to Finland’s capital Helsinki, the Daily Mail reports. (Read more)

8. US to Expand Training of Taiwanese Forces - The Epoch Times
More U.S. troops are in Taiwan as the island continues to face an ever more aggressive communist neighbor. The United States is planning on increasing the number of troops from the current 30 up to about 200. Taiwan’s president is welcoming the move. China, meanwhile, is accusing the United States of undermining peace and stability in the region. The Pentagon maintains the move would help Taiwan defend itself in the event of a Chinese invasion. Banning Gas Stoves And Your Freedom

In September, California’s clean air agency approved a proposal to ban new natural gas-fueled furnaces and water heaters in homes by 2030. Now, the Biden Administration is getting into the act. On February 1, the Department of Energy, under the auspices of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, sought comments on a proposal to ban “gas cooking tops” that have a constant burning pilot light and require that gas stoves and require stoves that have an “active mode, standby mode, and off mode energy use.” This is on the heals of The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) opening up a comment period to set new emission standards which would lead to banning natural gas stoves.
The Department of Energy (DOE) says it will cost the gas stove industry only $183.4 million for the conversion to non-pilot stoves. DOE says “the proposed energy conservation standards for consumer conventional cooking products would save a significant amount of energy.” Overall, DOE estimates that over 30 years, the energy saved would be about 3.4 percent. That doesn’t seem really significant. Some of the math in the DOE proposal seems suspect, such as a $1.71 billion savings to a value of operating cost savings verse increased product and installation costs for consumers over a 30 year period. DOE, however, says the climate, health, and social costs benefits are estimated at $2.8 billion, but admits there is no single central point estimate or ability to “monetize” estimates for such effects. President's FCC Nomination is Bad News for Free Speech

Earlier this year, President Biden renominated controversial lawyer Gigi Sohn to fill a vacant commissioner seat previously held by Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai.
The FCC, which is governed by five commissioners, is a powerful independent agency with far-reaching regulatory powers over radio and television. If the Senate confirms Sohn for the position, she will bring her radical beliefs to the FCC as the deciding vote.
This is the second time Biden has nominated Sohn for the position. The president first picked her to replace Pai in October 2021, but various concerns surrounding her past social media posts and views on certain key issues prevented the Senate from ever holding a floor vote on her confirmation.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has called her a "liberal activist who said the FCC should consider revoking the broadcast licenses of news stations she disagreed with."
Sohn is known as a radical lesbian who I fear will use the position to try to silence American Family Radio and American Family News for expressing its biblical views on marriage and human sexuality. In short, religious and other forms of free speech on radio, television, cable, and satellite are facing a significant threat with the confirmation of Gigi Sohn.

Hezbollah-backed terrorists form ‘dozens of cells’ on Syrian border
|

|
|
Hezbollah has established dozens of terrorist cells in southern Syria, just over the Israeli border, composed of local recruits, a Galilee-based defense research group says.
They could soon begin to use drones in operations against Israel, added the Alma Research and Education Center.
The assessment followed the Israel Defense Forces’ Feb. 20 announcement that on Jan. 27, soldiers apprehended two suspects who crossed the Alpha Line from Syria into Israel. The Alpha Line is near the Israeli-Syrian border barrier on the Golan Heights.
One of the suspects, a Syrian named Ei’th Abdollah, “is involved in terrorist activity and intelligence gathering operations in the area of the border in order to promote future terrorist activities,” and is a member of the “Golan File”—the Hezbollah-backed network of terror cells in the area—the IDF said.
Maj. (res.) Tal Beeri, head of research at the Alma Center, described the Golan File as a “military terrorist infrastructure that was built by Hezbollah, with Iranian-Syrian cooperation, in order to create a new front of terrorism against Israel from the Syrian border.
“It is made up of dozens of cells, with each cell made up of local squads of Syrians. These are Sunni and Druze operatives located all along the Israeli border with Syria on the Golan Heights, from the village of Hader in the [Syrian-held portion of the] northern Golan to the triangle of borders of Israel, Jordan and Syria,” Beeri assessed.
The terrorist cells operate in areas where their members live apparently ordinary civilian lives but are in fact part of a Hezbollah stratagem to create a new front against Israel.
“There are some cells that operate independently, and others that act as part of a cluster under the instructions of a more senior handler. The handler himself is sometimes a local. In either case, presiding over this ‘food chain’ is a Lebanese Hezbollah operative who instructs the squads, activating them,” said Beeri. (JNS.org) Read more here.

We pray for your protection over Israel, Your people. “Do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Will the Columbia-Class Submarine Be Ready On Time? The U.S. Navy’s goal to receive its incoming Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines in record time may not come to fruition, according to a government watchdog agency.
In the Government Accountability Office’s report released last month, a lack of statistical analysis for the vessel is the culprit for the potential delay. Additionally, issues involving the submarine’s design, materials, and quality could be impacting its entry into service.
The impending USS Columbia class is set to replace the 14 existing Ohio-class nuclear-powered submarines that are inching toward the end of their service lives. Although the Navy hoped that the production timeline of the new submarines could be achieved in a record-breaking 78 months, this feat may not be possible.
Designed to take over the role of submarine presence in the United States’ nuclear force, the Columbia-class vessels are a top priority for the Navy. The service is planning to develop and purchase 12 Columbia-class boats for a whopping $132 billion.
While the price tag seems high, this advanced class of vessels will make up the largest and most complex submarines in history. The submarines will be 560 feet in length and displace nearly 21,000 tons.
Significantly, its reactor will not need to be refueled during its planned lifetime service, making the submarine more cost-effective in the long run. . .
The Columbia-class’ progress in development could be stunted, however, according to the GOA report. The watchdog agency laid out six recommendations as part of its findings, including that the Navy carry out a schedule-risk analysis and update long-term plans.
An extended delay in introducing the first Columbia-class vessel into service could create a dangerous gap as its Ohio-class predecessors will be ending their service life beginning in 2027. (Read more here)

Mysteries of Earth: Researchers predict how fast
ancient magma ocean solidified

Early in the formation of Earth, an ocean of magma covered the planet's surface and stretched thousands of miles deep into its core. The rate at which that "magma ocean" cooled affected the formation of the distinct layering within the planet and the chemical makeup of those layers.
Previous research estimated that it took hundreds of million years for that magma ocean to solidify, but new research from Florida State University published in Nature Communications narrows these large uncertainties down to less than just a couple of million years.
"This magma ocean has been an important part of Earth's history, and this study helps us answer some fundamental questions about the planet," said Mainak Mookherjee, an associate professor of geology in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science. Read More

Chinese Corn Mill Project in North Dakota Struck Down by Grand Forks Over National Security Concerns

A city council in North Dakota voted unanimously on Monday to block a Chinese company’s proposed corn mill after the U.S. Air Force raised national security concerns over its proximity to a military base. The public in attendance cheered and chanted “USA!” when the Grand Forks City Council voted unanimously 5–0 to terminate the proposal by Fufeng Group, a large Chinese agribusiness with strong ties to the Chinese Communist Party. The proposed mill was intended to be built on 300 acres of land owned by Fufeng Group, which is only 12 miles from a military base that houses top-secret drone technology.
Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski read out the motion, stating that the council’s decision to block the proposed mill was prompted by a letter (pdf) from the Air Force, sent to Sens. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.) on Jan. 27, stating that the project “presents a significant threat to national security with both near- and long-term risks of significant impacts to our operations in the area.” Bochenski said the city determined that certain conditions of the company’s development agreement with the city “cannot be satisfied” and that certain representations and warranties were incorrect, and he directed the city attorney to “take all appropriate actions available and in favor of the city” under the development agreement.
Prior to the vote, Councilwoman Rebecca Osowski acknowledged the concerns raised by citizens about Fufeng’s proposal and thanked them for their support. “I guess I will say it. Citizens, you were right, and thank you,” Osowski said to applause from members of the public in attendance. “As a citizen of Grand Forks, thank you very much.” She also urged the city council to “look at what has been done and work together to make things right.” The city of Grand Forks approved the Fufeng project in November 2021, and the development agreement was signed in July 2022. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Hoeven, and Cramer raised their concerns in a letter (pdf) to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin about the Fufeng Group’s operations impacts in the area.
