Supreme Court Justice Issues a Rare Letter to Congress Leaders About Jan. 6 Case | Facts Matter

n a rare move within the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Samuel Alito issued a letter to Democrats in Congress Wednesday laying out why he’s not going to be recusing himself from the cases involving either Jan. 6 or the 2020 election.
The reason he had to do so was because there was a multi-pronged media/government attack lobbied against him.

Biden Signs Order to Limit Asylum at Southern Border
|
|
President Joe Biden announced on June 4 an executive order that would shut down asylum requests at the southern border once the average number of daily encounters exceeds 2,500.
The border will remain shut until that daily average stays below 1,500 for at least a week.
Senior administration officials said the order was the Democrat president’s most aggressive unilateral move of his administration.
It takes effect immediately as the daily encounter numbers already exceed the order’s allowable limit and marks the latest of several recent moves by the administration to curb an immigration crisis that’s seen as a key issue by many voters heading into November.
President Biden signed the executive order next to several lawmakers from communities along the Mexico–U.S. border.
“I’m moving past Republican obstruction and using the executive authorities available to me as president to do what I can on my own to address the border,” he said.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland will also jointly issue an interim final rule that will “generally restrict asylum eligibility during periods of elevated border encounters for those who cross the southern border unlawfully or without authorization.”
The action comes down as a proclamation under Immigration and Nationality Act sections 212(f) and 215(a) and prohibits migrants who cross the southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum when, as one senior administration official said, “high levels of encounters at the southern border exceed our ability to deliver timely consequences.”

- Abba, it's hard to know how to pray over the Biden regimes' about face on immigration. This regime is just putting back in place laws that they cancelled by executive order when they took office and now they are bragging about putting these same laws back on the books! Their tactics are "sleight of hand", "smoke and mirrors". There is good reason to believe that if this regime is reelected in November these laws will again be cancelled. 35 Years After Tiananmen, Survivors Dream of ‘Freedom and Dignity’ in China

WASHINGTON–A bipartisan group of lawmakers gathered in the capital today to commemorate the Tiananmen Square Massacre and celebrate the continued struggle for democracy in China.
The event near the steps of the Capitol Building was led by members of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and featured several survivors of the 1989 incident in Tiananmen Square.
“We stand with the victims of Tiananmen Square and all those currently facing the oppression of the Chinese Communist Party,” Select Committee Chair John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) said.
June 4 marks the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, in which communist troops in Beijing mobilized against thousands of student-led demonstrators, killing hundreds or thousands of unarmed civilians.
Estimates vary due to CCP efforts to suppress discussion of the event, but most sources claim that the CCP’s military wing slaughtered between 500 and 1,000 protesters.
Perhaps the most famous image of the event in the United States, though one heavily censored in China, is a short video of the “tank man,” an unknown Chinese man who stood in front of a column of tanks as they were leaving the day after the massacre.
The man’s identity, and his ultimate fate, remain unknown all these years.
Nevertheless, Select Committee ranking member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) held a poster featuring a photo of the incident. The tanks, he said, were emblematic of the “thuggish, brutal Chinese Communist Party that thought to squash the freedom of this man and countless others.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

80 years ago, on the beaches of Normandy, WWII shifted course: Here's how D-Day unfolded

Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy in northern France on June 6, 1944, was the largest amphibious military assault the world has ever seen. Its success heralded the beginning of the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945.
Victory came at a high price. More than 156,000 Allied troops landed by sea on five beaches – code-named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword – or parachuted behind German defenses. Almost 4,500 of them were killed on D-Day and 5,800 were wounded or missing. German casualties were estimated at 4,000 to 9,000.
An estimated 11,590 aircraft and 6,938 ships and landing craft were part of the assault.

1. Tens of thousands gather in capital for Jerusalem Day - JNS
Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered in Jerusalem on Wednesday to celebrate the anniversary of the reunification of the holy city under Jewish rule.
“We are gathering today in Jerusalem, the capital of united Israel. Fifty-seen years ago, in the Six-Day War, we experienced a historic miracle. We returned home, to the holy city, to the heart of our people,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a ceremony marking the day at the Bible Lands Museum.
“Then, as today, we were surrounded by enemies. They thought to suffocate us, to wipe us off the map. But we are an ancient people, a people of brave warriors, we stood up as one man and defended ourselves.” (Read more)

2. Netanyahu: Israel ready for ‘intense action in the north’ - JNS
Israel is “prepared for very intense action in the north” to restore security, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday, speaking during a visit to Kiryat Shmona near the Lebanese border.
“We said, at the start of the war that we would restore security in both the south and the north, and this is what we are doing,” the premier said at a lookout point in the city after earlier being briefed by commanders at the IDF’s Gibor base.
“Today, I am on the northern border with our heroic fighters and commanders, and with our firefighters. Yesterday, the ground burned here and I am pleased that you have extinguished it, but ground also burned in Lebanon,” Netanyahu continued, referring to fires that broke out in recent days in the north as a result of Hezbollah attacks. 3. Former Defense Minister: ‘Iran is planning a Holocaust for Israel within 2 years’ - World Israel News
Former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, in an interview with army radio on Wednesday, warned that Iran is planning a holocaust for Israel within two years.
He said, “We are being targeted by an Iranian plan for our destruction.”
“After Iran obtains a nuclear bomb… Iran will attack Israel to destroy it from many fronts with tens of thousands of missiles at the same time,” he added.
“They are planning a holocaust for us in the next two years,” Liberman declared.

4. 11 hurt, one critically, in Hezbollah drone attack on northern town -Times of Israel
At least 11 Israelis were wounded, one critically, in a Hezbollah-claimed attack with explosive-laden drones on northern Israel on Wednesday, the military and medics said.
The Israel Defense Forces said it was investigating why sirens did not sound when at least two drones slammed into the Druze-majority town of Hurfeish, located several kilometers from the Lebanon border.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group took responsibility for the attack, saying it launched several explosive drones at an army position in the area. (Read more)

5. Otzma Yehudit halts coalition support, accuses PM of hiding details of hostage deal - Times of Israel
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit party announced on Wednesday that it was reserving the right to not vote with the coalition in the Knesset until Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reveals details of an Israeli proposal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal.
“In light of the fact that the prime minister is hiding the draft agreement with Hamas that includes a clause to end the war, Otzma Yehudit will vote according to the dictates of its conscience and will not be committed to the coalition’s position in Knesset votes until the prime minister stops hiding the draft agreement,” the party said in a statement.
The threat is unlikely to have much effect in the immediate future, with few significant votes expected before mid-June in light of next week’s Shavuot holiday. (Read more)

2. Opening statements begin in Hunter Biden's gun trial - Just The News
Opening statements in Hunter Biden's Delaware gun trial began Tuesday morning with a strong words from the prosecutors.
“We’re here because of the defendant’s lies and choices,” federal prosecutor Derek Hines said, according to CNN. “No one is above the law. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your name is.”
Hunter Biden was charged in Delaware by Justice Department special counsel David Weiss with three felony crimes in connection to 2018 firearm purchase while he was using drugs. The accusations include lying to the licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application used to screen firearm's buyers by saying he was not a drug user, and illegally possessing the firearm for 11 days. 3. Navy SEALs Under Fire For Promoting Pride Month - Todd Starnes
The Navy SEALs marked the start of gay pride month by posting a rainbow-colored graphic – The message read: Dignity, Service, Respect, Equality Pride. The blowback was so severe that Naval Special Warfare Command limited comments on hits social media pages.
Critics said it was a slap in the face of every special warfare operator who has ever put their lives on the line for our nation.
The post came after the Pentagon mixed up Pride Month and PTSD Awareness month.
One of the greatest concerns among veterans and active duty servicemembers is the wokeness that has infected nearly every branch of the service. Instead of raising up fierce defenders of freedom, the woke Pentagon is raising up an army of social justice warriors. (Read more)

4. Quebec’s first March for Life draws 1,500 Canadians in defense of the unborn - Life Site
Quebec saw its very first March for Life this past weekend, as around 1500 Canadians gathered in the province’s capital to defend the unborn.
On June 1, the Quebec Life Coalition held their first Quebec March for Life, with around 1500 Canadians beginning at the National Assembly in Quebec City before marching through the streets of the city.
“Everybody was very happy about the event,” Quebec Life Coalition president Georges Buscemi told LifeSiteNews. “They were really glad that’s happening; they were really encouraged.”
The pro-life demonstration was met with an equal number of 1500 counter-protestors, who were organized by various unions and Planned Parenthood Quebec. The pro-lifers occupied the front of the building while the pro-abortion activists were at the back. (Read more)

5. Houston Astros Fan Wearing ‘FreeTrump’ Shirt Faces Security Screening - Todd Starnes
A Houston Astros fan says she was forced to undergo additional screening because she wore a “FreeTrump” t-shirt to the ballpark. Teneea Tate said she was only allowed to enter Minute Maid Park after she covered up the shirt.
We are being silenced and our rights are being taken from us,” Tate wrote on Facebook. “Wake up America! It’s happening everywhere.”
Tate said the ticket taker pulled her aside and directed her into an “extensive metal detector scan for no apparent reason.”
“They quickly phoned another person telling them about my shirt and the seats I was in (to keep an eye on me),” she said. “They threatened to kick me out if I didn’t change or cover up my shirt.” (Read more)

6. Gay Lawmaker Says LGBT Kids Belong to Him, Not Parents - Todd Starnes
California State Sen. Scott Wiener, an open gay man, declared that gay children belong to LGBT lawmakers. His shocking comments came during a ceremony marking the raising of the gay flag at San Francisco City Hall.
“We introduced legislation to ban these forced outing policies as some school boards are starting to adopt…as we fight all the nasty people out there who are trying to harm us and we’re going to beat them and we’re going to win,” he added.
However, as the California Family Council noted, there are no school board policies that are force outing students. “This is a blatant lie,” the council said in a statement. Several years ago the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus performed a song titled, “We’re Coming For Your Children.” (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: Iran Pursues Nukes At Record Pace

The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is supposed to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorist-sponsoring nations like Iran. Associated Press has reviewed a not yet public report by the IAEA stating that Iran now has a stockpile of highly enriched uranium 30 times the limit of the Obama-Iran nuclear deal. The report has IAEA head Rafael Grossi wringing his hands because Iran won’t allow UN inspectors access to the nuke facilities and Iran now has enough uranium to build “several nuclear weapons.” Grossi inherited this situation from his predecessors, who essentially turned a blind eye to Iran’s nuclear ambitions for over 25 years. Stopping Iran’s nuke program is a ruse.
Barack Obama sent Iran billions of US dollars on a pallet and negotiated a deal with the terrorist sponsoring state that essentially guaranteed Iran would have nuclear weapons. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported May 27 that Joe Biden is pressing European allies to back away from further censoring Iran for its record stockpile of nuclear material. WSJ said France and Britain are concerned that Biden lacks a strategy for dealing with Iran’s nuclear advances. This is nothing new. US Presidents since George W Bush have been lax on stopping Iran, which has consistently insisted on eliminating Israel from the face of the earth and is a main sponsor of global terrorism. Judge Cannon Expands Hearing on Validity of Trump Special Counsel

The federal judge overseeing one of the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump has made the unusual decision to open up an upcoming hearing to outside parties as she considers whether special counsel Jack Smith’s appointment was valid.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, an appointee of President Trump, said on June 4 that three outside experts will be able to make their cases for up to 30 minutes each during the hearing, which is slated to take place in federal court in Florida on June 21.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help Judge Cannon understand more fully why Jack Smith has no authority to prosecute President Trump, and to answer any questions she may have about the legal analysis we have offered on behalf of (among others) two respected former U.S. attorneys general,” Gene Schaerr, one of the experts, told The Epoch Times in an email.
President Trump alleges that Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of Mr. Smith is illegal because he was not working for the federal government when the appointment was made.
“The Appointments Clause does not permit the attorney general to appoint, without Senate confirmation, a private citizen and like-minded political ally to wield the prosecutorial power of the United States. As such, Jack Smith lacks the authority to prosecute this action,” Christopher Kise, one of the former president’s attorneys, wrote in a motion to the court. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Georgia Appeals Court Halts Trump Case
|

|
|
The Georgia Court of Appeal ordered on June 5 a stay on all proceedings in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s case against former President Donald Trump and eight codefendants, challenging the district attorney’s ability to prosecute the case.
“The proceedings below in the Superior Court of Fulton County are hereby stayed pending the outcome of these appeals,” reads an order by the court clerk, citing a Georgia Supreme Court case ordering the stay of criminal case proceedings during an interlocutory review.
This comes as the court has agreed to review whether Ms. Willis should be disqualified.
The appeals court on June 4 set a hearing in October for former President Donald Trump’s appeal of a Fulton County judge’s decision not to disqualify prosecutor Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
The defendants were notified to file their brief by June 23, and the district attorney has 20 days after that to file a reply brief. Oral arguments will take place before a three-judge panel. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Holy Spirit, we ask you to speak to minds and hearts if those who will be hearing the appeals concerning Ms. Willis, give them vision and wisdom into the truth of these appeals. Give them understanding of Ms. Willis intentions toward President Trump and the other defendants. We ask that Your perfect will be done in the court's decision on Ms. Willis suitability to continue on as Prosecutor in these cases.

World War II's D-Day: Photos reveal world's largest amphibious invasion.

|
Eighty years ago, D-Day — also known as Operation Neptune — was the largest invasion ever assembled. Some 156,000 Allied troops stormed Normandy, France, by sea and air, to liberate Western Europe from Nazi Germany. The D-Day invasion took place on June 6, 1944, nearly a year before Germany unconditionally surrendered during World War II.
The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it is the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France, and the rest of Western Europe, and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.
Planning for the operation began in 1943. In the months leading up to the invasion, the Allies conducted a substantial military deception, codenamed Operation Bodyguard, to mislead the Germans as to the date and location of the main Allied landings. The weather on the day selected for D-Day was not ideal, and the operation had to be delayed 24 hours; a further postponement would have meant a delay of at least two weeks, as the planners had requirements for the phase of the moon, the tides, and time of day, that meant only a few days each month were deemed suitable. Still Flying High, WWII Plane That Led D-Day Operation Heads to Normandy

OXFORD, Conn.—High above the muddy Hudson River, the D-Day Squadron had flown nearly 100 miles in tight formation to reach the towering spires of New York City. Straight ahead, the mirror-blue One World Trade Center—Manhattan’s tallest building at 1,776 feet—rose majestically above a drab sea of skyscrapers. Just beyond was the Statue of Liberty, with its torch of freedom reaching toward the clouds. The five World War II-era aircraft banked left to get a better look at Lady Liberty perched on its island pedestal in the New York Harbor just before the return flight to Connecticut.
Eighty years ago, the view from the squadron’s C-47 troop transport aircraft, named That’s All, Brother, looked much different as it flew into a world war raging about 3,500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. The massive airborne operation took place in the pre-dawn hours of June 6, 1944—D-Day. That’s All, Brother was the first of hundreds of paratroop transport planes to deliver their human cargo over the heavily fortified beaches of Normandy, France. At least 10,000 Allied soldiers (nearly 4,500 Americans) were killed or wounded during the land, air, and sea invasion on D-Day, and at least one-quarter of these casualties were airborne troops. Germany’s losses were between 4,000 and 9,000 men, either killed or wounded. The military operation was the beginning of the end of the war in Europe.
