Imminent Threat to the Abortion Decision

The Dobbs abortion decision will have a global impact. The call to defend life was the reason I went to law school. Having seen the evil face of abortion and the destruction of helpless children, I celebrate that Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey are gone. And I give thanks to God.

But now, following the Dobbs decision, the battle for life has intensified in Congress, the state legislatures and the state courts.

If any two of four pro-abortion senators change their vote on the filibuster, the 60-vote rule will be abolished, and the abortion bill in the Senate will force abortion on ALL the states. We cannot rest. We could easily lose this great victory for life.

An abortion bill has already passed the U.S. House and just needs to get through the Senate. Earlier this year, Democrat Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) said they oppose abolishing the 60-vote filibuster rule. So did Republican Senators Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK). And all FOUR want to codify Roe v. Wade as a federal law.

If only two of these four senators cave in and support the “nuclear option” to erase the filibuster, they can pass the abortion bill. But it will not stop there.

On Friday, violence erupted around the Arizona capitol building with legislators trapped inside. The violent protesters had to be dispersed with tear gas. Sen. Sinema is from Arizona. The pressure on members of Congress is intense.

U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) exclaimed, “The hell with the Supreme Court.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also bemoaned Friday, “Today is one of the darkest days our country has ever seen.” Standing in front of the Court in March 2020, Schumer threatened Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, saying: “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions!”

Meanwhile, Joe Biden has called on Congress to “restore the protections of Roe v. Wade as federal law.”

I want to emphasize again, IF ONLY TWO MORE SENATORS VOTE TO ABOLISH THE 60-VOTE FILIBUSTER RULE, THE DOBBS DECISION WILL BE ERASED AND ABORTION WILL AGAIN BE FORCED ON THE STATES.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Israel to cooperate with world powers to shape possible Iran nuclear deal - JNS

(June 28, 2022 / JNS) Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Monday that Israel would work with world powers to shape any deal on Iran’s nuclear program.

“With the expected or possible resumption of the nuclear talks, we will continue to work together with the United States and other countries in order to make our position clear and influence the crafting of the deal—if there is such,” said Gantz, according to Reuters.

“It would be proper to make clear that Israel does not oppose a nuclear deal in itself. It opposes a bad deal,” he added.

Indirect talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran, the United States and several other world powers have stalled, but there are efforts underway to renew the negotiations. (Read more) 

2. Israel announces digital Iron Dome - Israel National News

In his first comprehensive speech since taking office about four months ago, today (Tuesday) Gabi Portnoy, head of Israel's National Cyber ​​Directorate, presented his department's new project to create a "Digital Iron Dome" to defend civilian websites.

Portnoy addressed regional cyber attacks, saying "Iran has become a major player in cyberspace, along with Hamas and Hezbollah. We see them, we know how they work and we are there to stop them."

Portnoy presented his department's work at the Cyber ​​Week conference held at Tel Aviv University. According to Portnoy, "The system has a unique vantage point for state defense. 3. Israel eases Istanbul travel warning, but says threat remains throughout Turkey - Times of Israel

Israel eased its elevated travel warning to Istanbul on Tuesday, returning it to Level 3, or moderate, for all of Turkey, after it had been at its highest level for the country’s largest city due to threats from Iran against Israeli civilians.

The National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau said in a statement that arrests and counter-terror operations against Iranian-backed operatives led to the reduced travel warning.

Under the Level 3 warning, Israelis are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Turkey. (Read more) 

4. Knesset passes 1st reading of dispersal bill; final vote set for Wednesday at latest - Times of Israel

Lawmakers passed the first reading of a bill to dissolve Israel’s 24th Knesset in the early hours of Tuesday morning, putting Israel another step closer to its fifth elections in three and a half years.

The vote, approved 53-0, was held after lawmakers from the governing coalition and the opposition spent all day Monday debating such issues as the date of the next national elections and which legislation would be passed before parliament dissolves, and some in the opposition sought desperately to muster enough votes to forge an alternative coalition under former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu without elections.

According to coalition-opposition understandings, the final readings of the bill to dissolve parliament will be held by Wednesday. Once it is passed, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will hand over power to Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, who will serve as interim prime minister through elections and until a new government is formed. 5. 'This is Netanyahu's last chance,' Likud officials say - Israel Hayom

The bill calling for the dissolution of the Knesset passed its first reading on Monday night in a vote of 53 in favor with no objections. The legislative proposal will face its second and third readings on Wednesday and it is not expected to be challenged. Once passed, parliament will disband, making way for a caretaker government headed by Prime Minister-designate Yair Lapid.

The coalition and opposition have yet to come to an agreement on the exact date on which the next elections – Israel's fifth in three years – will be held. Israelis are expected to cast their ballots again on Oct. 25 or Nov. 1, with the latter emerging as the preferred date ahead of Wednesday's vote, during which it will be finalized.

Last week Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called for early elections, saying that the efforts to stabilize the increasingly erratic coalition – in power for only a year – have exhausted themselves. (Read more)

1. HHS Secretary Becerra: Biden admin may 'assist' transporting women wanting abortions across state lines - Fox News

The Biden administration is considering the possibility of providing taxpayer-funded transportation to women seeking to have an abortion across state lines. 

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra mentioned the idea during a Saturday interview with NBC News' Kate Snow at the Aspen Ideas: Health conference. 

"We are looking into everything, including assisting in transportation, something that HHS doesn't typically do," he said. When asked if he could legally provide such services, Becerra smiled and said: "talk to me later." (Read more)  

- We declare this suggestion null and void, in Jesus name.  We know the enemy is raging in order to keep this cruel and evil form of death in place in this nation.  However, Holy King, we look to You for the complete cessation of every action revolving around abortion and for light to replace darkness.

2. Senate sergeant-at-arms during Capitol riot dies - Washington Examiner

Michael Stenger, the Senate sergeant-at-arms who oversaw security in the upper chamber during the Capitol riot, died Monday morning, according to multiple reports.

The cause of his death was not immediately clear, but reporters from Fox News and Politico shared news of his passing. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) also tweeted about it. Stenger held the post from 2018 to 2021 and stepped down the day after the Jan. 6 attack.

"There is an opportunity to learn lessons from the events of January 6th. Investigations should be considered as to funding and travel of what appears to be professional agitators. First Amendment rights should always be considered in conjunction with professional investigations," he said in an opening statement before a Senate committee last year. (Read more)

3. California to vote on constitutional amendment enshrining abortion rights - Washington Examiner

California voters will decide this November whether to enshrine the right to an abortion in the state constitution after lawmakers voted on Monday to place an amendment on the ballot. The amendment, SCA 10, which protects a person's right to have an abortion and the right to choose or refuse contraceptives, was passed by the California State Assembly in a 58-17 vote with five members abstaining.

“California will not back down from the fight to protect abortion rights as more than half the states in this country, enabled by the Supreme Court, ban or severely restrict access,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said. "We are ensuring Californians will have the opportunity this November to enshrine the right to choose in our state constitution."

The proposed amendment is based on the right to privacy in the state constitution and would prohibit California from "denying or interfering with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate decisions, which includes their fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and their fundamental right to choose or refuse contraceptives" if passed in November, according to its text. 4. Illinois suspends grocery tax for one year — with certain exceptions - Fox Business

The State of Illinois is suspending sales tax on groceries beginning July 1 and continuing for a year through June 30, 2023. The state announced the pause on its 1% sales and use tax on qualifying items, specifying that it applies to food items meant to be consumed off the premises of the location where it is sold — with certain exceptions.

"Food sold for consumption off the premises includes grocery items and packaged foods but does not include candy, soft drinks, cannabis-infused foods, and alcohol," the Illinois Department of Revenue said in a bulletin, adding that food made to order for takeout or delivery does not qualify and is still taxed. 

The state released a chart listing what items will not be taxed and which will continue to be taxed. (Read more)  

- Thank You Father for this bit of tax reprieve for the people of Illinois for the next year.  We pray for there to be employment and financial resources accessible for the citizens and Jesus, we ask You to establish a good, upright and just government over this state.  There is a heavy cloud upon Illinois, but we ask Father that You hear and answer the prayers of your children there, in Jesus name.

5. Transgender Activist Who Created ‘Gender Unicorn’ Calls for ‘Supreme Court Assassination Challenge’ - Free Beacon

A transgender activist who creates widely distributed educational resources for nonbinary students called for a "Supreme Court assassination challenge" on the same day Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Eli Erlick, a founder of Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER) and creator of a popular "Gender Unicorn" graphic for "gender fluidity," tweeted and later deleted the remark on Friday, when the High Court delivered its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. Since 2011, Erlick and the "youth-led" organization have helped implement transgender policies in dozens of school districts, including Wisconsin, New York, and Texas. The group backs sweeping "structural change" as opposed to "equality," which according to its website, "reinforces systems of white supremacy, transphobia, and injustice."

She tweeted, “supreme court assassination challenge.“ Assassination threats, sometimes from accounts with thousands of followers, erupted on social media on the day the Court ended constitutional protection for abortion.

"Can someone kill Clarence Thomas??" an account with more than 14,000 followers tweeted. (Read more) 

- Lord God, we ask You to protect our Supreme Court justices and for that matter, every single person who has been targeted with death threats in one way or another.  This must stop and we bind this rage-fueled hatred and rebuke this inability to cope with disagreements, in Jesus name.  Teach us all to learn how to accept differences and challenges with grace and discipline.

6.  CDC Caught Using False Data To Recommend Kids’ COVID Vaccine - The Daily Caller

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showcased highly misleading data about the risk of COVID-19 to kids when its expert vaccine advisers voted to recommend vaccines for children under five years old.

The agency featured a preprint study ranking causes of death in children when it presented data to its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) earlier this month, after which the committee voted to recommend kids aged six months through four years get vaccinated for COVID-19. The study claimed to show that COVID-19 was a leading cause of death for children in the United States during the coronavirus pandemic, but observers quickly pointed out major flaws in the data which rendered it misleading.

However, one misleading aspect of the paper, as first pointed out by covid-georgia.com, is that it ranks cumulative COVID-19 deaths alongside annual rates for other causes for death. For instance, in the 1-4 age group, the paper ranks cumulative COVID-19 deaths as the 5th leading cause of death, ahead of heart disease and influenza. But further down the list, it ranks annual COVID-19 deaths in eighth. For every single age group, the cumulative COVID-19 death rate is more than double the annualized death rate. (Read more)

7.  Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking - Just The News

A judge on Monday sentenced Ghislaine Maxwell to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking and other charges in connection with her recruiting and grooming minors for the pleasure of then-boyfriend financier Jeffrey Epstein.

A jury found the British socialite guilty in December on five counts, including the trafficking of a minor.

The 60-year-old Maxwell worked "as partners in crime" with Epstein, prosecutors said during the trial.

They said that from 1994 to 2004, Maxwell groomed women as young as 14 to be abused sexually by Epstein, a convicted pedophile who died in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting federal sex trafficking charges. (Read more)

- Thank You Father for justice in this matter.  We pray for this woman to be brought to repentance for her crimes.  We also ask for holy healing in the spirits and lives of those who were trafficked and molested by her and all the others.  We ask also, Just Judge, that every person who sexually abused young women and girls would be indicted with evidence, so that full justice may cleanse this evil chapter, in Jesus name.

8. US retailers including CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart limit sale of over-the-counter abortion pills - Just The News

Some of the country’s largest retailers are limiting their over-the-counter sales of emergency contraceptive pills, amid a surge in demand after the Supreme Court ruling Friday that overturning a constitutional right to abortion.

CVS Health Corp., Walmart Inc. and Rite Aid Corp. are limiting purchases of the pills, which were as of Monday already in short supply or out of on major retailer websites, according to the Wall Street Journal. 

CVS and Rite Aid were limiting purchases to three, and Walmart had some pills available without limits but cannot them until next month, the news outlet also reported. (Read more)

9.  Donald Trump makes series of scathing Truth Social posts denying Jan. 6 committee claims - Just The News

Former President Donald Trump made a series of scathing posts on his platform Truth Social to refute Democrats' Jan. 6 claims live while the House committee investigating the Capitol riot held a hearing on Tuesday.

"I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and 'leaker')," Trump wrote, beginning his series of statements about the Jan. 6 hearing by attacking witness Hutchinson, who served as a senior aide to Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Hutchinson testified that Trump was unhappy with the size of the crowd for the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally. She also claimed that Trump was upset that his supporters were being screened for weapons.

Hutchinson told the House select committee that the former president physically attempted to force his limousine toward the Capitol during the riot. (Read more)

- Holy One, thank You for the strength and courage of President Trump to stand in firm opposition to deceptions and accusations.  We forgive this woman for she knows not what she's doing.  We declare that this House committee will be brought to repentance and everything that is not upright, holy or true will fall to the ground utterly.  Let every deception be heard across the land as gravel in the teeth, in Jesus name.

10.  Turkey agrees to support Sweden and Finland's NATO bids - Just The News

Turkey agreed to let Sweden and Finland join NATO on Tuesday, less than two months after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that he would not allow the two Nordic countries to join the security alliance.

Erdogan's change of heart comes after the three nations held a meeting in Madrid at a NATO summit. Finnish President Sauli Niinisto posted a statement on Twitter about the meeting with Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, which NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg facilitated.

He acknowledged that Turkey originally opposed Sweden and Finland's membership because of concerns that the Nordic countries were not strict enough on terrorism. (Read more)

Pastor William Agbeti, Daily Jot ministry partner in Ghana, West Africa, wrote this prophetic warning and exhortation for the Church in America: The body of Christ is in crisis as reflected by the universal church’s current state of lethargy! Lethargy may be defined as “lack of divine power and passion.” Lethargy is also as “a pathological state of sleepiness or deep unresponsiveness and inactivity” to and in issues affecting mankind. Take the sad case of the body of Christ in America, a country considered in recent years past as the beacon of truth, home of democracy, the last post of hope and the bastion of revivalism! Today, it is a pale, miserable shadow of itself and this is representative of the global situation in Christendom.

What we in Africa see happening to the church in America is two-fold: First, false teachers who are “wolves in sheep skins” have broken and entered into our ranks. Many Christians receive, even embrace, false teachings. Many of these false teachings are based on scriptures taken out of context to build, project and buttress personal opinions. Some are replacement theologies to please men and build cults. Others are wrong teachings from zealous men without knowledge, these being half-baked Christian leaders without any solid foundational training, who use bits and pieces of scripture, here and there, to weave a labyrinth of lies to further personal agendas. Of course, there are also those who have genuine zeal to teach, but teach wrong doctrines because they teach without knowledge! All this has greatly harmed the body of Christ, leaving the majority of the brethren in a state of stupor; not knowing what to do or who to believe! ‘Deepest shipwreck ever’ is recovered from its ocean grave
It took six dives over eight days to locate the famous U.S. destroyer miles beneath the ocean’s surface -- and decades after it was sunk in a World War II battle.

June 26 (UPI) -- The wreckage of the World War II U.S. Navy destroyer, the USS Samuel B. Roberts, was found off the coast of the Philippines.

American explorer and oceanographer Victor Vescovo, founder and sub pilot of the Dallas-based Caldan Oceanic Expeditions, identified the wreckage alongside Britain-based EYOS Expeditions, and announced on Twitter that the wreckage lies at a depth of about 4 miles, making it "the deepest shipwreck ever located and surveyed."

"It was an extraordinary honor to locate this incredibly famous ship and by doing so have the chance to retell her story of heroism and duty to those who may not know of the ship and her crew's sacrifice," Vescovo said in a statement.

The wreckage of the ship, also known as the Sammy B.,has broken into two pieces, resting about 33 feet away from each other.

"It appears her bow hit the seafloor with some force, causing some buckling. Her stern also separated about 5 meters on impact, but the whole wreck was together," Vescovo said. "This small ship took on the finest of the Japanese Navy, fighting them to the end."

University that prevented Christian from sharing faith agrees to pay damages
A university that prevented a Christian student from sharing his faith with others by imposing speech restrictions – and got sued – has ended the case after five years by agreeing to pay damages and legal fees. Officials with the ADF explained they and officials for Georgia Gwinnett College filed for a dismissal of the case that was on behalf of former students Chike Uzuegbunam and Joseph Bradford.

The case began some five years ago when college officials stopped Uzuegbunam and Bradford from sharing their faith on campus.The settlement, in which the college is paying "nominal damages" plus legal fees of more than $800,000, came about after a federal court said government officials could not escape the Supreme Court's decision in the case, Uzuegbunam v. Preczewski, which found they can be held accountable for violating constitutionally protected freedoms.

That decision allowed the lawsuit by the former students against the school to move forward. "Choosing instead to settle Uzuegbunam’s and Bradford’s claims, Georgia Gwinnett College will pay nominal damages and attorneys’ fees totaling more than $800,000. The college has already changed the unconstitutional policies that violated the former students’ freedoms," the ADF explained. "This settlement represents a victory not only for Chike and Joseph but also for many other students who wish to exercise their constitutionally protected freedoms on the campuses of Georgia’s public colleges and universities," said lawyer Travis Barham.

"For five years, Georgia Gwinnett College officials have tried again and again to dodge accountability for their illegal actions in violating Chike’s and Joseph’s rights, even after the U.S. Supreme Court rebuked them. But after the district court put a stop to that, the college has finally decided to stop fighting the Constitution. This case should also remind other colleges and universities nationwide of the need to respect their students’ liberties. If they do not, they can and will be held accountable." (WND) Read More
