Unable to back down, Israel and Hezbollah move closer to all-out war

Full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah would be "a catastrophe", the UN Secretary-General says. But to David Kamari, who lives under near-daily fire on the Israeli side of the border, it would be a solution.

Last month, a Hezbollah rocket fired from Lebanon landed in his front garden in the border town of Kiryat Shmona, cracking his house in several places and filling it with rubble.

He points out the gaping holes where shrapnel sliced through the walls, missing him by inches. And then to the hills above us, where Hezbollah-controlled territory begins.

"Every day, every night: bombs. [It’s a] problem," he said. "And I was born here. If you live here one night, you go crazy."

David is still living in his rubble-filled house, pieces of shrapnel entangled with the remains of his television set. Outside is the blackened relic of his car, burned by the fire that swept through his front yard after the rocket hit.

Most of the population of Kiryat Shmona was evacuated after the 7 October Hamas attacks, as Hezbollah rockets began raining down in support of their Palestinian ally.

David is one of the few who stayed. "I’ve lived here 71 years," he said. "I won’t go. I was in the army, I’m not afraid."

His solution? "War with Hezbollah; kill Hezbollah," he says. (BBC) Read more.

- Father, the thought of walking in this man's shoes is a difficult image to try and comprehend.  Yet this is the reality for all of those in Israel who want to live in peace in their own God-given country. Tragically, an entirely different people group seeks to take their land from them by force, which is an undeniable plan of islam against non-islamic countries. In the 700s, islam began marching all over the region from Indonesia to Spain, aggressively taking over nations, then as now.  It was stopped in Tours, France but the battles are still being waged, such as this one now.  Holy One, we pray for Your divine strategies to defeat this ruthless foe that seeks to impose its religious tyranny on the free and democratic nation of Israel, in Jesus name.

- "I will camp around My house, because of the army, Because of him who passes by and him who returns. No more shall an oppressor pass through them, For now I have seen with My eyes."  (Zechariah 9:8)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leads the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on June 23, 2024 (Screen grab/GPO)
Netanyahu says US arms supplies fell away 4 months ago; he went public as last resort

At the start of the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his decision to release an English-language video last week panning the United States for holding up weapons shipments, saying that he had only gone public after quiet attempts to solve the problem failed.

After expressing his appreciation for US President Joe Biden’s support during the war against Hamas, Netanyahu alleged that four months ago, there was a “dramatic drop” in the weapons pipeline to Israel.

“For many weeks,” said Netanyahu, “we appealed to our American friends to speed up the shipments. We did it time and time again. We did this at the senior echelons, and at all levels, and I want to emphasize — we did it in private chambers. We got all kinds of explanations, but we didn’t get one thing: The basic situation didn’t change.” (The Times of Israel) Read more here.

- Father, we repent for the corrupt deeds of this government against Israel, in Jesus name.  We call for the Biden Administration to stop their slow-rolling activities against Israel but rather be as diligent in support of Israel, a sovereign nation, as they are with Ukraine, in Jesus name.  We pray Mighty God, for victory for Israel at every turn and that the hostages would all be found and returned home, for the glory of God.

- "'Thus says the Lord of hosts:  "Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east And from the land of the west; I will bring them back, And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be My people and I will be their God, In truth and righteousness." (Zechariah 8:7-8)

Trump endorses Ten Commandments in schools, implores evangelical Christians to vote in November

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump told a group of evangelicals they “cannot afford to sit on the sidelines” of the 2024 election, imploring them at one point to “go and vote, Christians, please!”

Trump also endorsed displaying the Ten Commandments in schools and elsewhere while speaking to a group of politically influential evangelical Christians in Washington on Saturday. He drew cheers as he invoked a new law signed in Louisiana this week requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school classroom.

“Has anyone read the ‘Thou shalt not steal’? I mean, has anybody read this incredible stuff? It’s just incredible,” Trump said at the gathering of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “They don’t want it to go up. It’s a crazy world.’’

Trump a day earlier posted an endorsement of the new law on his social media network, saying: “I LOVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND MANY OTHER PLACES, FOR THAT MATTER. READ IT — HOW CAN WE, AS A NATION, GO WRONG???” (AP News) Read more here.

- Oh Abba, this is pure joy and so heart-warming to hear President Trump share his heart for the Ten Commandments, our nation's declaration of morality.  We thank You Father, for Your anointing on him and Your hand guiding him every step of the way through this journey.  We also know Your eyes are on this country and that You hearken to the prayers Your people share with You day and night, as we seek the redemption of our nation and restoration of Godly morality into our culture.  We are encouraged by this one small step in Louisiana, that is a giant leap for the sons and daughters of God to call forth in every state of this union, in Jesus name.

- " . . . Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.  Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?"  (Jonah 3:7b-9)

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Anti-government protesters handcuff selves to labor union building, demanding strike - Times of Israel

Anti-government protesters from the Changing Direction activist group handcuffed themselves to the headquarters of the Histadrut labor federation in Tel Aviv on Monday, calling for a general strike until a date is set for new elections.

Elections must come before October 7, 2024, protesters said, the first anniversary of the Hamas attack in which some 3,000 terrorists invaded southern Israel from Gaza, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, and started the ongoing war between Israel and the terror group.

“The government of blood continues to engage in petty politics to remain in place at the citizens’ expense. If we don’t act today to replace our leadership, we will all pay the price,” the protesters said in a statement. (Read more)

2. The IDF is on track to dismantle Hamas’s last brigade in Rafah - JNS

The Israel Defense Forces is pursuing a phased approach in its ongoing offensive against Hamas’s last stronghold in Rafah, Gaza. By dividing Rafah into sub-areas and deploying a single division—the 162nd—rather than two, the IDF and the Israeli Cabinet have taken a slower path, but one that has avoided another crisis with the United States.

According to Israeli military assessments, Hamas’s final functioning brigade will be dismantled in Rafah within weeks. Its defeat will mark a major milestone in the war that began on Oct. 7 with Hamas’s mass invasion of southern Israel. Meanwhile, Hamas has lost its ability to smuggle weapons and contraband from Egypt’s Sinai into Gaza via the cross-border tunnels. This will severely harm Hamas’s ability to rebuild its terror army—assuming that Israel does not relinquish its control of the Gaza-Egypt border.

According to an IDF source, of Hamas’s four Rafah battalions, only two are currently functional.

The IDF has eliminated over 500 terrorists in Rafah, and has also discovered extensive tunnel networks under the city, and under the Philadelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border. Two of the tunnels destroyed by Israeli forces exceeded a kilometer in length. (Read more)

3. Gaza Rocket Fire Aimed at Ashkelon, First Time in Five Weeks - Jewish Press

The Iron Dome aerial defense system thwarted a rocket attack aimed at Ashkelon and the Gaza Envelope early Monday evening.

Red Alert incoming rocket alarm sirens were triggered in the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, and in several communities along the Gaza border, including Sderot and Mefalsim.

Two Israelis sustained mild injuries while running for shelter from the rocket fire. Several others were being treated for severe anxiety, according to the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical response service. (Read more)

4. Iran threatens direct strike on Israel to protect Hezbollah - World Israel News

A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps(IRGC) official appeared to threaten that the Islamic Republic could launch a direct strike on Israeli soil, should Jerusalem engage in a full-scale offensive against Hezbollah.

“Should the Zionist regime launch an attack on Lebanon and initiate a broad conflict with Hezbollah, the Axis of Resistance will not remain passive. A harsh and decisive response will be delivered to counter the Zionists’ malice,” said Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari in a statement on Sunday evening.

The Lebanon-based Shi’ite terror group enjoys generous funding and support from Iran, and Tehran has repeatedly hinted it will act in order to protect Hezbollah from Israeli efforts to dismantle its military capabilities.

While Iranian officials have previously said that they will assist their proxy, including by helping militias based in Syria and Iraq fight against Israel, Heydari’s remarks signify a new escalation in Tehran’s rhetoric warning Israel against an offensive targeting Hezbollah. (Read more

5. Jordanian police find explosives in Amman that are allegedly part of Iran-linked plot - Times of Israel

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordanian security forces say they uncovered and detonated explosives hidden in a commercial warehouse in an industrial area southeast of the capital Amman that security sources say are part of an Iran-linked plot to destabilize a key US ally.

Witnesses earlier said security forces had sealed the Abu Alanda area in a wide scale security operation two days after authorities announced they had detonated explosives uncovered in another location in the capital.

The authorities say the explosives found Monday were hidden by the same group of suspects who stored the explosives uncovered on Saturday in a crowded residential area close to a military airport used by US army planes. (Read more)

1. RNC files lawsuit over noncitizen voting rights in Vermont's largest city -Fox News

The Republican National Committee launched a lawsuit this week seeking to ensure only citizens can vote in Burlington, Vermont, elections. Residents of Burlington, the Green Mountain State’s largest city, approved the charter change in March 2023 that permits noncitizens to vote in municipal elections.

Vermont Republican Gov. Phil Scott later vetoed state approval of the measure, but was overridden by the legislature.

The RNC said such elections influence Vermont’s education budget, which contradicts the state constitution’s requirement that only citizens can vote on matters affecting the state. "Americans should decide American elections," RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. "Democrats' persistent efforts to enable noncitizen voting dilute the voices of Americans in Vermont and across the country," he said.
In comments to Fox News, an RNC spokesperson added that Democrats’ "persistent efforts" to let noncitizens vote is "alarming." (Read more)
- Lord, voting by noncitizens is unconstitutional in America. We ask that You stop these nefarious plans in their tracks and protect the voting rights of our citizens.

- “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
2. Missouri AG Bailey Suing N.Y. for 'Lawfare' in Trump Trial - Newsmax

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has announced his plans to sue the state of New York over former President Donald Trump's trial and conviction on charges of falsifying business records, saying the case was brought to interfere with Trump's presidential election campaign.

"I will be filing suit against the state of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump," Bailey, a Republican, posted on X Thursday night. "It's time to restore the rule of law."

"We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail," he added. "It sabotages Missourians' right to a free and fair election." (Read more)

- Lord, we thank you for this lawsuit claiming that New York's prosecutor was trying to take President Trump off the campaign trail. We pray that this would make an impact and would be in favor of President Trump and this direct attack on our democratic process of electing each new president.

- "And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail." (Isaiah 58:11)

3. Governor trashes bill giving detransitioners equal rights - WND

The governor of the state of Arizona has vetoed legislation that would have given detransitioners – those victims who were convinced to pursue a life as transgender but now regret it and are reversing their actions – equal rights.

A column at the Washington Stand explains Gov. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, vetoed the state legislature's Detransitioner Bill of Rights. This would have provided individuals seeking to detransition "the same rights and medical protections as those seeking to transition," the report noted.

The GOP plan would have given those leaving transgender lifestyle insurance, and medical protections. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray Governor Katie Hobbs would be held accountable for not giving equal rights to those who are wanting to reverse their transgender decision.

- "A just weight and balance are the Lord's: all the weights of the bag are His work." (Proverbs 16:11)

4. Supremes endorse gun restrictions for those involved in 'abuse' cases - WND

The Supreme Court has ruled that civil domestic abuse court judges are permitted to ban someone from having firearms if they are involved in such cases.

Justice Clarence Thomas was the only dissent in the ruling on Friday.

The case came out of a fight over domestic violence restraining orders, and the majority ruling from Chief Justice John Roberts said, "[W]e conclude only this: An individual found by a court to pose a credible threat to the physical safety of another may be temporarily disarmed consistent with the Second Amendment."

Thomas said the issue should have been resolved with the Second Amendment and earlier precedent that allows gun restrictions only if the government proves such a limit would be "consistent with the Second Amendment's text and historical understanding," and in this case that did not happen. (Read more)

- Lord we pray for wisdom in this case regarding these gun restrictions. Please grant Your wise counsel to these Justices and direct them in making their decisions.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
(Psalm 32:8)

5. Uproar over Dems' push to draft women for the military - WND

When the U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of the National Defense Authorization Act last week, which authorized $895.2 billion in military spending, one of the measures included would automatically register men aged 18 to 26 for Selective Service. Not to be outdone, in the Senate, language from Democrats has been added to the NDAA, as it’s called, that would also require women to register for the draft.

The uproar from Republicans and conservatives was swift. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, described the requirement for women to sign up for the draft "insane." "Leave our daughters alone," Hawley said.

Following the last peacetime draft that ended in 1973, the Selective Service System required male U.S. citizens who reached the age of 18 to register themselves into a database for potential military conscription should it ever be required.

The current NDAA proposal offers two potential changes, he noted. First, the House has voted to allow automatic registration, without the consent of individuals, for Selective Service between the ages of 18 and 26. Controversially, the Senate version of the proposed legislation would require women to present themselves as potentially eligible for a military draft. (Read more)
- We pray more outrage would arise from the Democrat's push for the drafting of women in the military.

6. Steve Bannon Files Emergency Request to Supreme Court to Stay Out of Prison - Epoch Times

Steve Bannon on June 21 asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay his prison sentence as his appeal of a contempt of Congress conviction works its way through the court system.

“If Mr. Bannon is denied release, he will be forced to serve his prison sentence before this Court has a chance to consider a petition for a writ of certiorari, given the Court’s upcoming summer recess,” lawyers for Mr. Bannon said in the emergency motion.
Mr. Bannon 70, who was an adviser to President Donald Trump, was convicted in 2022 of contempt of Congress and sentenced to four months in prison.

He had been allowed to remain free pending an appeal, but after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in May rejected his appeal, a judge recently ordered him to report to prison on July 1.
Mr. Bannon asked the appeals court to stay the sentence, but a split panel said on June 20 that Mr. Bannon’s request “does not warrant a departure from the general rule that a defendant ’shall ... be detained' following conviction and imposition of a sentence of imprisonment.”
Defendants can remain free if they raise a “substantial question of law or fact likely to result in reversal [or] an order for a new trial” and Mr. Bannon had done that, U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols said previously. However, in light of the appeals court ruling, that was no longer the case, Judge Nichols said on June 6.

He gave Mr. Bannon leave to seek a stay of his order, which, if granted, would delay the prison sentence. (Read more)

Lord we pray for Mr. Bannon and his appeal to delay his prison sentence. We pray that you guide and direct the decisions on this matter and pray your will be done in this case.

- Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. (Proverbs 30:8-9)

The Daily Jot

Are You Ascending Or Descending?

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, June 24, 2024

In very basic terms, we are either ascending or descending as we live out our lives. Looking at this from a worldly sense, if we are ascending, good things are happening. We are healthy. Our finances are improving. We have great relationships, a roof over our head and food on the table. Descending, however, is yet another issue. There’s been times in my life where the descent was almost like a freefall. Nothing I did was turning out right. There was sickness, a lack of money, and therefore, a lack of food, and the roof over our head was also in doubt. I read Job a lot. Often there is descent before there is ascent. Our spiritual walk allows us to ascend or descend with the confidence that the LORD is with us.

In Numbers 8-12, the Torah reading is called B’ha’alotkha (When You Set Up) and begins with the final preparations for the Israelite’s journey from Sinai to the Promised Land, kind of like how we are to live out our life’s journey. The root word for b’ha’alotkha is ma’alot and it means “to ascend.” When going to Jerusalem, or even to the land of Israel, it is said that you are “going up.” The city of Jerusalem is situated on a high hill, and Jews traveling there for the three annual festivals would sing special songs of ascent. The Temple in Jerusalem was entered by 15 steps on which the priests would sing the Psalms of Ascent, (120-134), also called the Pilgrim Songs. The intention being that you are going “up” to the dwelling place of God. Read More

Risch, Crapo, Lankford Urge Biden to Immediately Rescind Amnesty Executive Order

BOISE, Idaho - U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), and James Lankford (R-Okla.), along with several of their colleagues, sent a letter to President Joe Biden to express concerns regarding his Executive Order that would offer amnesty to illegal aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States.

“We have previously challenged the legality of your Administration’s parole authority and have sought to reform this authority to ensure that decisions regarding parole are restored to Congress’ original intent – ‘on a case-by-case basis’ to aliens who are not already present in the US. Under your Administration, the parole authority has been unlawfully used to circumvent screening and vetting, mass parole of illegal aliens after the cartels surge caravans at the border, and to circumvent normal refugee processing. These actions undermine the immigration laws Congress has passed, and they have eroded the rule of law at our southern border,” the Members wrote.

“Border security is national security, and our adversaries will continue to take advantage of the chaos your Administration created by announcing this policy. We urge you to rescind this policy immediately and focus your efforts on securing our border against the cartels and adversaries who will welcome this chaos,” the Members concluded.

U.S. Senators John Thune (R-S.D.), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), John Kennedy (R-La.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) joined Risch, Crapo, and Lankford in sending the letter.

The full letter can be read here.

- Mighty God, we pray for this policy to be immediately rescinded as these members of Congress have demanded, in Jesus name.  Joe Biden and the Administration are overstepping their bounds and must be reined in. As these Congressmembers have put pen to paper making this declaration according to natural and law-abiding means, may we, in the Spirit, all stand in agreement for the fulfillment of this word, in Jesus name.  We speak failure to every effort to overreach the limits of the executive branch and pray for Congress to stand firm and strong according to their righteous, well-defined authority, in Jesus name.  We pray for a Godly halt to this disaster from our southern border and every effort to capitalize on it against our national sovereignty, in the mighty, powerful and worthy name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

- 'You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, And you will pay your vows.  You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.  When they cast you down, and you say, "Exaltation will come!" Then He will save the humble person.'"  (Job 22:27-29)

Why Mount Rainier -- the US volcano -- keeping scientists up at night
The snowcapped peak of Mount Rainier, which towers 4.3 kilometers (2.7 miles) above sea level in Washington state, has not produced a significant volcanic eruption in the past 1,000 years. Yet, more than Hawaii’s bubbling lava fields or Yellowstone’s sprawling supervolcano, it’s Mount Rainier that has many US volcanologists worried.

“Mount Rainier keeps me up at night because it poses such a great threat to the surrounding communities. Tacoma and South Seattle are built on 100-foot-thick (30.5-meter) ancient mudflows from eruptions of Mount Rainier,” Jess Phoenix, a volcanologist and ambassador for the Union of Concerned Scientists, said on an episode of “Violent Earth With Liv Schreiber,” a CNN Original Series.

The sleeping giant’s destructive potential lies not with fiery flows of lava, which, in the event of an eruption, would be unlikely to extend more than a few miles beyond the boundary of Mount Rainier National Park in the Pacific Northwest. And the majority of volcanic ash would likely dissipate downwind to the east away from population centers, according to the US Geological Survey.

Instead, many scientists fear the prospect of a lahar — a swiftly moving slurry of water and volcanic rock originating from ice or snow rapidly melted by an eruption that picks up debris as it flows through valleys and drainage channels. Read More

Louisiana will require the 10 Commandments displayed in every public school classroom
BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom, the latest move from a GOP-dominated Legislature pushing a conservative agenda under a new governor. The legislation that Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signed into law on Wednesday requires a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities. Opponents questioned the law’s constitutionality and vowed to challenge it in court. Proponents said the the measure is not solely religious, but that it has historical significance. In the language of the law, the Ten Commandments are “foundational documents of our state and national government.”

The posters, which will be paired with a four-paragraph “context statement” describing how the Ten Commandments “were a prominent part of American public education for almost three centuries,” must be in place in classrooms by the start of 2025. Under the law, state funds will not be used to implement the mandate. The posters would be paid for through donations. The law also “authorizes” but does not require the display of other items in K-12 public schools, including: The Mayflower Compact, which was signed by religious pilgrims aboard the Mayflower in 1620 and is often referred to as America’s “First Constitution"; the Declaration of Independence; and the Northwest Ordinance, which established a government in the Northwest Territory — in the present day Midwest — and created a pathway for admitting new states to the Union. - Abba Father, we sing a HALLELUJAH for this incredible Law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments at every public school throughout the State of Louisiana!! Bless the efforts of Governor Landry and those who worked to bring this bill into law. We declare in Jesus Name that this legislation will stand even in the midst of the challenges against it!  May the requirement of displaying the Ten Commandments fall upon every educational institution across the United States of America, bringing righteous realignment and GLORY to Jesus Christ! Amen and Amen.

Scripture: Thinking He was the gardener, she said, Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him. John 20:15

Lyrics:
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain
