Fire Torches Rand Paul’s Kentucky Office
|
|
Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, office was damaged in a fire Friday morning.
The fire severely damaged a commercial building on State Street that includes Paul’s local office, the law office of Kerrick Bachert, and Dezign Tees, the Bowling Green Daily News reported. Authorities responded to the blaze at 1:45 am, according to a Bowling Green Fire Department spokeswoman. The building’s roof caved in, the spokeswoman added, and it sustained serious structural damage.
Videos posted on social media showed firefighters continuing to combat the blaze as late as 8:30 am. (Daily Caller) Read more here. |

Poll: Belief in Existence of Hell, the Devil ‘Down to New Lows’
|
|
The percentages of Americans who believe in five “religious entities” — God, angels, heaven, hell, and the devil — are down to new lows, a new Gallup News poll found.
Gallup has polled Americans five times since 2001 about belief in these five entities, with the most recent showing “each…at its lowest point.” The survey was conducted between May 1-24, 2023, with 1,011 U.S. adults. The margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
“Compared with 2001, belief in God and heaven is down the most (16 points each), while belief in hell has fallen 12 points, and the devil and angels are down 10 points each,” the poll report states. Even so, majorities believe in each of the five entities, including 74 percent who believe in God, 69 percent in angels, 67 percent in heaven, 59 percent in hell, and 58 percent in the devil.
“This question asks respondents whether they believe in each concept or if they are unsure, and from 13 percent to 15 percent currently say they are not sure. At the same time, nearly three in ten U.S. adults do not believe in the devil or hell, while almost two in 10 do not believe in angels and heaven, and 12 percent say they do not believe in God,” the survey report states. “As the percentage of believers has dropped over the past two decades, the corresponding increases have occurred mostly in nonbelief, with much smaller increases in uncertainty. This is true for all but belief in God, which has seen nearly equal increases in uncertainty and nonbelief.” (Breitbart) Read more here. |

Media Blackout: Corporate Media Ignore Hunter Biden Revelations

Most corporate media outlets completely ignored bombshell revelations on Thursday involving allegations that Hunter Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden were involved in a bribery scheme in 2015 and 2016
.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday released an unclassified FBI document that memorialized a conversation between the FBI and one of their trusted informants, who passed on to the FBI detailed allegations from the founder of the Ukrainian natural gas and oil company who employed Hunter Biden, that Hunter Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden were both involved in a bribery scheme.
Despite the high-profile nature of the event, most corporate news media outlets ignored it.

Israel’s Parliament Passes Law Weakening Supreme Court
|
|
|
Israel’s parliament on July 24 approved a law that limits the Israeli Supreme Court’s ability to challenge parliamentary decisions.
The law includes a provision that prevents judges from striking down government decisions on the basis that they’re “extremely unreasonable.” The law taking effect would mean that the Supreme Court wouldn’t be able to review decisions, such as the termination of officials, on grounds of being unreasonable.
The law, part of a plan backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that would change the judiciary, was passed in a 64–0 vote after opponents walked out rather than voting against it. The first procedural vote was 64–56.
Justice Minister Yariv Levin, the architect of the plan, said parliament had taken the “first step in an important historic process” of overhauling the judiciary.
Other parts of the plan include a bill that would let a majority of the parliament overturn Supreme Court decisions and a law that would enable parliament to select judges.
The Movement for Quality Government, which opposes the law, quickly asked the country’s highest court to act against the law over it allegedly being unconstitutional.
“The government of destruction has raised its malicious hand against the State of Israel, and they are threatening to destroy everything we have built here in the last seventy-five years,” Eliad Shraga, the movement’s chairman, said in a statement.
Mr. Netanyahu, 73, and his allies say the changes are needed to curb the powers of unelected judges and restore the balance of the three branches of government.

- Drama in the Knesset: Smotrich pushing for last-minute compromise - Israel National News
The Knesset is voting today (Monday) on the bill to change the reasonableness standard in the second and third readings.
As voting commences, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is pushing for a last-minute compromise despite opposition from Ministers Yariv Levin and Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Smotrich is trying to get a declaration to delay the legislation on the Judicial Selection Committee for more than half a year. Defense Minister Gallant also supports such a move.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is considering the idea and even left the plenum to discuss it with several ministers.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir commented on the proposal: "Unfortunately, parts of the coalition are negotiating with themselves and are considering reaching a compromise that would uproot the reform. Any compromise during the vote for the Reasonableness Bill would be a humiliation of the Right." (Go here)

2. Netanyahu offers talks on next overhaul laws; Lapid: An empty show, he’s not real PM -Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday night that the upcoming Knesset recess can be an opportunity to revisit negotiations on consensual changes to the judiciary. He was speaking, in a televised address, hours after his coalition unilaterally passed its first judicial overhaul law.
Netanyahu blamed the parliamentary opposition for the failure to reach a compromise on the law, which bans judicial review over the “reasonableness” of government and ministerial decisions, claiming all his side’s offers were rejected.
“Despite everything, my friends, we will continue to seek talks and agreements,” he said. (Read more)

3. Medical Association announces 24-hour general strike Tuesday in healthcare system - Times of Israel
The Israeli Medical Association announced a one-day general strike in the healthcare system on Tuesday in response to the Knesset’s passage of the government’s first judicial overhaul law on Monday. During the strike, the healthcare system will operate on a limited Sabbath and holiday schedule.
However, emergency rooms of general and psychiatric hospitals will be excluded and operate as usual, as will community clinics in Jerusalem and its surroundings, “due to the large number of people in the area and the complex situation there.”
Patients arriving at any emergency department around the country will be seen by a doctor who will evaluate whether further treatment is needed — either in that hospital or elsewhere.
“We are doing everything possible so that the patients will not be negatively impacted by the steps we have been forced to take. We will operate on a Sabbath and holiday schedule, but physician committees and heads of departments will ensure sufficient staffing with doctors on rotation and call,” said an IMA statement. 4. Shooting attack in Huwara: Israeli bus riddled with bullets - World Israel News
An Israeli bus sustained at least eight bullets when it was subjected to a terror shooting while driving through the Palestinian town of Huwara in Judea and Samaria on Monday evening.
There are no injuries in the attack, the Rescuers Without Borders emergency service said. There is no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces on the attack. Huwara, near Nablus in Samaria, has been a hotbed of Palestinian terror for decades. (Read more)

5. Israel arrests 17 suspects in overnight West Bank raids - Jerusalem Post
The IDF and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) conducted a minor escalation against West Bank terror overnight between Sunday and Monday, arresting 17 Palestinians in one night of raids, including using somewhat larger forces and one raid which lasted an unusual five hours long.
The number of arrests, altercations, size of IDF forces, and amount of time the forces spent in some of the Palestinian areas was more extensive than the average nightly IDF raid.
However, the Jerusalem Post has learned that the IDF did not view the raid as a "mini-Jenin" operation or a warm up to such an operation. This, despite the fact that many top officials announced that, after the massive two-day operation in Jenin earlier in July, other similar massive operations might soon be necessary. (Read more)

1: Viral Video Of Women Paraded Naked Through Streets Sparks Outrage – Daily Caller
A video showing two women being paraded naked through the streets in Manipur, India, has sparked outrage as violent ethno-religious clashes continue in the region.
Deadly riots have broken out between the Meitei, who are mostly Hindu, and the Kuki-Zo, who are mostly Christian, in northeast India. Since May, 140 have been killed and tens of thousands displaced. The conflict originated over a proposal to reserve government jobs and education to Menteis, who say they are marginalized.
The two women belong to the tribe of Kuki-Zo, according to Al Jazeera. Video shows them being paraded through the street into an empty field as a large group of men touch and grope them. One woman was reportedly gang raped. (Read more)

2: EXCLUSIVE: Military Policy Group Slams Biden For Opposing Anti-Woke Defense Bill - Daily Caller
President Joe Biden’s response to the draft defense policy bills that emerged in the House and Senate this week confirm the administration’s deep-seated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) over merit and biological realities, according to a prominent group focusing on military and social issues.
The administration noted strong opposition to a raft of GOP-led provisions in the House and Senate defense bills for fiscal year 2024 that took aim at the allegedly woke military in official statements on July 10 and July 18, respectively. Based on the administration’s opposition, it appears Biden has taken an official stand in favor of evaluating servicemembers based on race or other factors rather than competence, blocking restitution to those discharged or punished for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and continuing to maintain highly-paid civilian employees solely focused on DEI, the Center for Military Readiness (CMR) told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

3: US Deploys Marines To The Middle East To Combat Increased Iranian Aggression - Daily Caller
The U.S. will deploy thousands of Marines to the Strait of Hormuz amid increased Iranian aggression against commercial vessels, the Department of Defense (DOD) announced Thursday.
The announcement follows the recent deployment of F-16 and F-35 fighter units and a guided missile destroyer, the USS Thomas Hudner, to the region after an Iranian Navy ship tried to seize and fired at an internationally-flagged commercial tanker, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release. Now, a Marine Corps Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit will bring additional aviation, maritime assets and U.S. Marines to bolster security in the region at the order of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
“U.S. Central Command is committed to defending freedom of navigation within our area of responsibility which includes some of the most important waterways in the world,” Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla, CENTCOM commander, said in the statement. “These additional forces provide unique capabilities, which alongside our partners nations in the region, further safeguard the free flow of international commerce and uphold the rules based international order, and deter Iranian destabilizing activities in the region.” (Read more)

4: Longtime Democratic lawmaker turned activist defects to Republican Party - Fox News
A prominent Democrat and Jewish leader who served for decades as a New York lawmaker and now leads a group committed to fighting antisemitism announced Thursday he's leaving his lifelong political party and becoming a Republican, arguing Democrats have become "radicalized" and "turned their back" on the Jewish people.
"It's official: My wife and I have switched our party affiliation from Democrat to Republican!" Dov Hikind, who spent 36 years in the New York State Assembly and later founded Americans Against Antisemitism, tweeted.

5: Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas Boasts About Ditching The Term ‘Illegal Alien’ - Daily Wire
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said Thursday that he directed the agency to avoid the use of “illegal alien” when referring to foreign nationals who come into the United States illegally.
CNN’s Fareed Zakaria asked Mayorkas about the asylum system in an interview hosted by the Aspen Institute, leading the Biden administration official to tout a memo in which he instructed personnel in his department to refrain from using the term “illegal alien.”
“In the Department of Homeland Security I issued a memo very early on that we would not use the term ‘illegal alien.’ When speaking of these individuals we use the term ‘non-citizen,’ and that speaks to the importance of respecting the dignity of the individual,” Mayorkas remarked.
Mayorkas’ refusal to use the term “illegal alien” comes as illegal immigration has spiked under the Biden administration, with an estimated 1.5 million illegal immigrant gotaways being recorded since Biden took office in 2021. There were 415,000 total reported gotaways for 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration. (Read more)

Kevin Morris, who represents Hunter Biden, was photographed by the UK Daily Mail apparently smoking a substance from a water “bong” from the balcony of his Los Angeles, California, home during his client’s visit.
The Daily Mail reported:
Hunter Biden visited his ‘sugar brother’ Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris – who was photographed appearing to smoke from a bong.
The First Son took a trip from his Malibu pad to the Pacific Palisades on Thursday to visit his attorney, after agreeing to plead guilty to federal tax crimes last month.
While Hunter was at the house, Morris was snapped on a balcony in plain view of the public street appearing to huff from a white bong, in photos exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.
The photos suggest that the home is in the seaside neighborhood of Castellamare, which has spectacular views.

7. CNN panelist calls out VP Harris over 'completely made up' Florida slavery curriculum claim - Fox News
CNN political commentator Scott Jennings called out Vice President Harris on Sunday over her claim that Florida's middle school curriculum included lessons on how enslaved people "benefited from slavery."
CNN "State of the Union" host Dana Bash asked the panelists about how Democrats have been calling for Harris to "get out there more."
"What is amazing to me that, how little Kamala Harris apparently has to do, that she can read something on Twitter one day and be on the airplane the next to make something literally out of nothing. This is a completely made-up deal. I looked at the standards, I even looked at an analysis of the standards, in every instance where the word slavery or slave was used, I even read the statement of the African American scholars that wrote the standards. Not Ron DeSantis, but the scholars," he said.
"Everybody involved in this says this is completely a fabricated issue and yet look at how quickly Kamala Harris jumped on it. So the fact that this is her best moment, a fabricated matter, is pretty ridiculous," Jennings continued. (Read more)

8. Biden Admin Targets Water Heaters With New Rule Proposal - Daily Caller
The Biden administration introduced a new proposal for water heater efficiency standards Friday, becoming the latest widely-used household appliance to be singled out by the Energy Department.
The Department of Energy (DOE) claims the new water heater standards will curb carbon dioxide emissions and save Americans billions in the long-term, according to a Friday press release. The proposed rules are the latest advancement in the Biden administration’s wider push to regulate household appliances in pursuit of its climate agenda.
The regulation would mandate higher efficiency standards for new water heaters that use heat pumps, and would require new gas heat pumps to gain efficiency by using condensing technology, according to the DOE press release. Gas water heaters are smaller and less expensive, and thus carry cheaper installation costs than alternatives, according to FOX News. (Read more)

The Testimony Of Tony

Tony is an example of someone who was seeking. The Lord brought him to our church through a good friend. It took him a while to digest how we approach studying the Word of God in its total context. But he caught on and it drove him to want a deeper relationship with Christ and to seek the truth. In the journey with Tony, we all learned a few things because he would compare what he had been taught having been raised a good Roman Catholic boy with what he was actually finding in the Bible. He would ask questions and draw his own conclusions, often excited that a truth had been revealed and confirmed in the Bible. He often said how fortunate he was to have found our little church.
In studying the Bible, Tony found that many things he had been taught as truth were not even found in the Bible. He would often speak of traditions, requirements, rituals that were taught as what he should believe, but upon review, they were extrabiblical. He said he was not encouraged to read the Bible, so he really didn’t know what was in it. He thought if he just went to mass and did what he was told to do, that he was OK. It wasn’t until he started coming to our church that he found that through seeking the truth, he could have an actual relationship with our Lord and Savior. He would get excited about discovering something, like not having to go through another man to relate to Christ. He would say, “I never knew that. This makes sense. It’s right here!” Read More

NASA’s ComPair Gamma-Ray Hunting Mission Prepares for Balloon Flight
|
|
|
Engineers and scientists have shipped NASA’s ComPair instrument to Fort Sumner, New Mexico, ahead of its scheduled August flight early in NASA’s 2023 fall balloon campaign.
ComPair’s goal is to test new technologies for studying gamma rays, the highest-energy form of light. It was assembled and tested at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
“The gamma-ray energy range we’re targeting with ComPair isn’t well covered by current observatories,” said Carolyn Kierans, the instrument’s principal investigator at Goddard. “We hope that after a successful balloon test flight, future versions of the technologies will be used in space-based missions.”
ComPair is designed to detect gamma rays with energies between 200,000 and 20 million electron volts. (For comparison, the energy of visible light is 2 to 3 electron volts.) Supernovae and gamma-ray bursts, the most powerful explosions in the cosmos, glow brightest in this range, as do the most massive and distant active galaxies, which are powered by supermassive black holes. Scientists know this because they see a fraction of the light emitted by these galaxies with NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, which observes higher-energy gamma rays. Read More

40,000 Revival Prayer Groups Spring Up as Taiwan's Christians Face Beijing's Belligerence

China's saber-rattling has been escalating for months. "Tensions are peaking. Beijing's belligerence is once again making Taipei jittery," said a report from WION News.China's military recently released a video showing what simulated attacks on Taiwan would look like. "A war here in Taiwan would have catastrophic economic consequences not just for this island, but for the whole world," warned SkyNews London in a report from Taipei. The tiny island off the mainland coast is now facing almost daily Chinese military harassment. "Taiwan is beefing up its military and training with new U.S. weapons," reported CBS News, as its military prepares for possible full-scale war.
While the war drums grow louder by day, Taiwan's Christians are taking to their knees by night. "The united prayers and fasting prayers of the churches in Taiwan are much more than ever before. It's an unprecedented prayer movement," Brian Lu, pastor of Shekinah House of Bread of Life in Taipei, told CBN News. All across this island, people are meeting every day, 24 hours a day, to pray for revival, unity, repentance, and protection over their land. "I believe something so simple is starting to have such a huge impact upon people in the church and also the people around the church," said Gordon Huang, a prominent church leader here. In May of 2021, Pastor Young says the Lord spoke to him and gave him a word that there was going to be a shaking coming to this nation.
