Capitol Riot Defendant Gets Probation, Rare Setback for Prosecutors
A security operations leader hired by the Oath Keepers group — whose acquittal of conspiracy charges in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot marked a rare setback for prosecutors — was sentenced Friday to two years of probation.
Michael Greene, of Indianapolis, was convicted on a misdemeanor trespassing offense after a trial in March, but cleared of more serious charges after telling jurors on the witness stand he was not a member and did not tell anyone to go into the Capitol.
Prosecutors had sought one year behind bars for Greene, but U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta sided with defense attorneys who argued for probation. He noted Greene did not enter the building or have extensive participation in the group's online chats, which grew increasingly violent before the riot.
"We frankly don't have a great deal of insight into what his political views were or what he thought about the election outcome," Mehta said. (Newsmax) Read more here.

Mayorkas Investigations Heat Up
The House Committee on Homeland Security, chaired by Mark Green (R-Tenn.) released the first phase interim report in the Committee’s ongoing investigation into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
In the report, the committee states:
“One obvious obligation inherent to the DHS [Department of Homeland Security] secretary’s job is securing the nation’s border… The evidence documented throughout this report will demonstrate that Mayokas has been, and continues to be, derelict in the solemn duty to secure the nation's borders…”
Since Biden made Mayorkas head of DHS, he has overseen a record influx of illegal immigrants amounting to 6 million illegal migrants from over 160 countries, including millions of unaccounted “got-aways.” The open border has contributed to a tragic humanitarian crisis that has resulted in an increased flow of drug trafficking, human trafficking, and sex trafficking.
DHS has even lost track of over 85,000 unaccompanied children who have crossed the border. Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty has led to unnecessary human suffering and it’s beyond time that he be held accountable.
Heritage Action will be closely watching this week as Secretary Mayorkas testifies in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Upstate Motel Kicks Out Guests After NYC Moves Migrants In
A motel in upstate New York kicked out guests this week to make room for a busload of migrants from New York City.
The facility, a Super 8 motel in Rotterdam, kicked guests out without warning, including some in poverty, the Times Union reported. Officials reportedly had signed a contract with the hotel to house the migrants who originally were sent from Texas. "There are so many questions we have," Rotterdam town supervisor Mollie Collins said. "Because we haven’t been given any information." Some of those kicked out of their rooms were people who get assistance from the Department of Social Services in Montgomery County, a neighboring jurisdiction.
New York City mayor Eric Adams (D.), who has overseen the busing of migrants to other parts of the state despite advertising his city as a sanctuary city, said the displaced guests were offered "extended stay" lodging at no charge nearby. "Guests at that hotel were all offered to be relocated and booked for an extended stay at a comparable hotel in the same area free of charge," Adams’s office said. "All but one reservation took our contractor up on that offer and instead preferred to be re-booked at the comparable hotel on a daily basis, which we facilitated."
New York City this week announced it will distribute notices at the U.S.-Mexico border to tell migrants to "consider another city." "Please consider another city as you make your decision about where to settle in the U.S.," the notice reads in English and Spanish.
New York City sued counties that refused to accept migrants from the city in June. Thirty-three counties and one town were named in the suit. The localities filed emergency orders to keep migrants bused in from New York City from staying in their hotels. Adams first called for busing migrants to surrounding counties in May. Localities quickly declared emergencies, including Rockland and Orange Counties, which were slated to receive hundreds of migrants to fill their hotels. Both counties are named in the suit.

We do not know where to go to appeal the rights of these hotel guests, who were literally "kicked out" of their rooms to make way for non-paying immigrants. Lord God, we appeal to You in the High Court of heaven to move upon the hearts of righteous leaders to take action, so that this travesty will not happen again. We ask this in Your Name, amen and amen!

Biden Administration Shuts Down Government Funding for Wuhan Lab
After years of scrutiny and controversy, the Biden Administration announced on Tuesday that it had severed all federal funding to the controversial Wuhan laboratory that many have said was the origin of the COVID-19 virus.
As reported by Daily Caller, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its proposal to halt any further government funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) by barring it from participating in any government-funded programs.
The memo released by HHS and made public by the House Oversight Committee provides an overview of the contact that was made between the National Institutes of Health (NIH), its sub-agency National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the grant recipient EcoHealth, which provided funding for gain-of-function research to the WIV after receiving grants from the government. These funds were provided despite an order in October of 2014 from the Obama White House to halt any further research.
“I find that the information in the record constitutes adequate evidence to demonstrate that the immediate suspension of WIV is necessary to protect the public interest,” said the memo, written by an HHS official in charge of suspension and debarment. “As such, there is a risk that WIV not only previously violated, but is currently violating, and will continue to violate, protocols of the NIH on biosafety.” (The Virginia Star) Read more here.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL
1. Netanyahu has pacemaker fitted, on eve of final votes on coalition’s overhaul bill - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent successful surgery early Sunday morning at Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan to be fitted with a pacemaker, a week after he was hospitalized for dehydration and had a heart monitoring device implanted, and on the eve of pivotal Knesset votes to pass into law the first bill of the government’s highly contentious judicial overhaul.
Around 4 a.m., the hospital said the procedure — performed by Prof. Roy Beinart and Prof. Eyal Nof — was completed successfully and without complications, adding that the premier was in good condition and that he would “stay for observation at the cardiology department at Sheba.”
The Prime Minister’s Office similarly said the operation was completed successfully, that he was feeling good and that he was expected to be discharged Sunday. (Read more)
2. Tens of thousands march to Knesset in last-ditch effort to stop 1st overhaul bill - Times of Israel
Tens of thousands of protesters joined a mass march to the Knesset in Jerusalem on Saturday as part of a last-ditch effort as the coalition readies to pass into law a bill that would curtail judicial oversight over its decisions.
The protesters had paused their self-styled pilgrimage on Friday evening to welcome Shabbat with a communal meal, as they regrouped before the final leg of their journey. The march began in Tel Aviv on Tuesday with just a handful of people, and has swollen by the day to become one of the most resonant events of the seven-month anti-overhaul protest movement.
After spending the night at Shoresh, outside Jerusalem, the marchers ate breakfast donated by supporters, before beginning the climb up to the capital. (Read more)
3. Knesset begins final votes on reasonableness law, curbing court review of decisions - Times of Israel
Debate starts Sunday, vote set for Monday-Tuesday; coalition expected to pass first major judicial overhaul bill despite reservists’ threats, mass protests, US president’s concern.
The Knesset is set to begin final voting on Sunday to pass a bill that would end judicial scrutiny over the “reasonableness” of government and ministerial decisions, teeing up the first major legislative win for the parliamentary coalition’s platform to curtail judicial checks on its own power.
Wielding the full power of its slim Knesset majority, the coalition is expected to push the bill through over strong political and societal objections, and despite growing announcements of key army reservists they will stop showing up for duty, as well as diplomatic, professional, social, economic and security concerns raised by key Israeli officials and international allies.
Advanced on a rushed timeline that only dedicated nine committee sessions to preparing the core text for a substantive amendment to one of Israel’s quasi-constitutional Basic Laws, the bill is expected to clear extensive filibusters to become law by Monday or Tuesday, in line with the coalition’s goal to show movement on its judicial overhaul program before breaking for legislative recess on July 30. 4.Benny Gantz makes personal appeal to Netanyahu - Israel National News
National Unity leader Benny Gantz addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this evening (Sunday) and offered to reach a last-minute agreement regarding the reasonability clause and the judicial reform, and promised that the agreement would be binding for the next Knesset as well.
"Netanyahu, this is an appeal from me to you just before we plunge into the abyss. First of all - a speedy recovery and good health. The State of Israel is on its way to crossing the red line. People do not sleep at night. Soldiers feel that the state is abandoning them. The heads of the economy warn of an economic collapse. Raisi, Nasrallah, Sinwar - all our enemies are looking at all of this. Look me in the eyes, and look all the citizens of Israel in the eyes: to the Armor Corps, to Golani, and to the pilots, to the worried mother from Dimona, to the elderly man who was in the Palmach from the northern kibbutzim to the students from Tel Aviv. Is it really worth cutting off our common identity under the pressure of the extremists?" Gantz began.
He added, "I know, it's politically difficult, I know - there is also the feeling of many that they are being unfairly coerced. But you are the Prime Minister - and the responsibility is on your shoulders. Returning to the President's House, agreeing on a reasonability clause that will not harm democracy, and continuing to promote all judicial and administrative legislation by agreement is the right and proper move, just as I suggested on Wednesday. 5. 'We have 24 hours to save Israel' - Fmr. pres., Likud MK Rivlin - Jerusalem Post
Former president and former Likud MK Reuven Rivlin spoke before tens of thousands of anti-judicial reform protesters in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, stressing that "we have 24 hours to save our wonderful country" and calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to show leadership.
Rivlin read parts of the Declaration of Independence at the protest as well, focusing on parts discussing the commitment to provide "complete quality" for all Israeli citizens, irrespective of religion, race, or sex. The former president stressed that everyone took part in forming the Declaration of Independence, despite the many disagreements in Israeli society at the time.
Rivlin noted that despite attempts to form a constitution, the founders failed to do so "because we knew that there was a High Court that would interpret the laws in accordance with the constitution we had already written: the Declaration of Independence." (Read more)

1. Maine’s Democrat governor signs bill legalizing abortion up to the moment of birth - LifeSite News
Maine has legalized abortion up until birth for any reason deemed “necessary” by an abortionist.
Governor Janet Mills signed into law on Wednesday LD 1619, which distinguishes Maine as one of the few places in the world, including China and North Korea, to allow elective abortions after 20 weeks’ gestation.
Whereas Maine law previously only allowed abortions after fetal viability to “preserve the life or health of the mother,” according to LD 1619, abortions may be performed “when it is necessary in the professional judgment” of a physician abortionist.
The bill also removes criminal penalties for committing an elective late-term abortion without the necessary license and changes reporting standards to eliminate identifying information about a woman who obtains an abortion and only require details about the date, location, and method of the act, as well as the age of the baby when he or she is killed.
“Maine law should recognize that every pregnancy, like every woman, is different, and that politicians cannot and should not try to legislate the wide variety of difficult circumstances pregnant women face,” Mills said before signing the radical law.
Maine now joins the ranks of the states Colorado, Alaska, Oregon, New Jersey, Vermont, and New Mexico, which also effectively permit the killing of babies in abortions at any point up until birth for any reason. (Read more)

2. Michigan AG Nessel Charges Trump Electors with ‘Forgery,’ Despite JFK Precedent - Breitbart
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced forgery charges Tuesday against 16 alternate electors for President Donald Trump in 2020, despite existing precedent — by Democrats — in using alternate electors.
Nessel, a highly partisan figure who urged President Joe Biden to close a crucial local oil pipeline, and once joked that she wanted “a drag queen for every school,” announced the charges, which are the first of their kind.
“The false electors’ actions undermined the public’s faith in the integrity of our elections and, we believe, also plainly violated the laws by which we administer our elections in Michigan,” said Nessel. “My department has prosecuted numerous cases of election law violations throughout my tenure, and it would be malfeasance of the greatest magnitude if my department failed to act here in the face of overwhelming evidence of an organized effort to circumvent the lawfully cast ballots of millions of Michigan voters in a presidential election.”
These defendants are alleged to have met covertly in the basement of the Michigan Republican Party headquarters on December 14th, and signed their names to multiple certificates stating they were the “duly elected and qualified electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America for the State of Michigan.” These false documents were then transmitted to the United States Senate and National Archives in a coordinated effort to award the state’s electoral votes to the candidate of their choosing, in place of the candidates actually elected by the people of Michigan. 3. DOD Memo Says Transgender Soldiers on Hormone Therapy Can Skip Deployments - Breitbart
Transgender soldiers receiving hormone therapy may avoid deployment for as many as 300 days, according to a February 2023 Department of Defense memo outlining treatment at the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) at Fort Liberty.
The memo, first obtained and published by The Dossier, states that most service members “will require up to 300 days to be stabilized on cross-sex hormone therapy, and they will remain in a non-deployable status during that time.”
However, that timeline depends on when the service member is “clinically stabilized.”
The memo also states what other treatments and surgeries transgender troops may receive at WAMC at taxpayers’ expense.
The memo said after 12 months of hormone therapy, transgender service members can request “surgical care,” such as “upper” and “bottom” surgery.
It said transgender service members could also request surgery without first receiving hormone therapy. (Read more)

4. Joe Biden hit hard in whistleblower hearing — by Democrat Dan Goldman - New York Post
One of the most basic lessons that we teach law students is that you should “never ask a question you don’t know the answer to.” The peril of the poorly crafted question was on display in Wednesday’s hearing with two whistleblowers on political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation. Most Democrats avoided any questions on the substance of the allegations, focusing instead on everything from systemic racism to the use of the term “two-tiered system of justice” and, of course, Donald Trump.
Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) often goes where wiser members fear to tread.
On this occasion, Goldman may have delivered one of the most damaging moments for the Democrats. In the course of just a few minutes, the junior New York congressman seemed to demolish the defense of President Biden. (Read more here)

5. Biden Appoints Adm. Lisa Franchetti as First Woman to Lead the Navy - The Epoch Times
President Joe Biden unveiled his nomination of Adm. Lisa Franchetti to take the helm of the Navy in a shock move unexpected by Pentagon officials.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had tapped Adm. Samuel Paparo for the top job. He currently oversees the Navy’s operations in the Pacific and has significant experience dealing with the complexities of China’s growing influence.
Mr. Biden’s nomination of Adm. Franchetti would make her the first woman to lead the service and join the prestigious ranks of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Acknowledging Adm. Franchetti’s distinguished 38-year career, Mr. Biden lauded her expertise in both operational and policy realms. Adm. Franchetti has previously achieved the feat of becoming the second woman in U.S. Navy history to attain the rank of four-star admiral. (Read more)

6. Justice Department to sue Texas Gov. Abbott over razor wire, floating barrier along US border - USA Today
WASHINGTON – The Justice Department has put Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on notice that it intends to file suit over a floating barrier wall he erected in the Rio Grande River to keep migrants from crossing the border illegally.
“The State of Texas’s actions violate federal law, raise humanitarian concerns, present serious risks to public safety and the environment, and may interfere with the federal government’s ability to carry out its official duties,” the department wrote in a letter to Abbott on Thursday.
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by USA TODAY, gives Texas officials until Monday to commit to removing the barrier. If there is no response, the Justice Department will pursue legal action, the letter warns.
Abbott fired back Friday, writing on Twitter that Texas has "sovereign authority" to defend its border. The humanitarian crisis at the border was created because of Biden's refusal to secure the border and by his policies that encourage migrants to risk their lives by crossing illegally through the Rio Grande, Abbott said.
"We will continue to deploy every strategy to protect Texans and Americans – and the migrants risking their lives," he wrote. "We will see you in court, Mr. President." (Read more)

7. Chinese hackers breached US ambassador to China’s email account - CNN
China-based hackers breached the email account of US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns as part of a recent targeted intelligence-gathering campaign, three US officials familiar with the matter told CNN.
The hackers also accessed the email account of Daniel Kritenbrink, the assistant secretary of State for East Asia, who recently traveled with Secretary of State Antony Blinken to China, the people said.
The news, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, adds to the fallout for the US of the alleged Chinese hack first revealed last week. The hackers also infiltrated the emails of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, CNN previously reported.
US officials have consistently labeled China as the most advanced of US adversaries in cyberspace, a domain that has repeatedly been a source of bilateral tension in recent years. The FBI has said Beijing has a larger hacking program than all other governments combined. (Read more)

8. FBI improperly used surveillance powers on US senator - The Hill
The FBI improperly used surveillance powers to conduct searches for information on a U.S. senator, a state lawmaker and a state judge, according to court records released Friday as part of a public records request.
The FBI’s improper use of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was documented in an opinion from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) and is sure to pose challenges for an intelligence community lobbying for the reauthorization for what it sees as one of its most vital tools.
The tool – which allowed for warrantless spying on foreigners located abroad – has long been criticized as a backdoor tool for gaining information on Americans who may be communicating with those being surveilled.
And critics complain the information gathered by the agency through 702 is too easily tapped for investigations with no foreign nexus.Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said lawmakers are not assured that intelligence agencies are being fully forthcoming about how they use FISA.
“For years, as government officials have provided misleadingly narrow testimony about who is targeted under Section 702, I have pushed to get the government to come clean. The revelation that 702 is used against ‘foreign governments and related entities’ directly impacts Americans’ privacy, as American journalists, businesspeople, students and others all have legitimate reason to communicate with foreign governments,” Wyden said in a statement. “The fact they can be swept up in 702 collection further highlights the need for reforms to protect their privacy.” (Read more)

Indictments Solidify Trump's Dominance on GOP Primary
The indictments against former President Donald Trump have become a prominent feature of his campaign for the White House and a quandary for his Republican primary opponents.
The former commander-in-chief informed the world this week of a third, imminent indictment against him, this time by a grand jury in Washington.
As with the previous two indictments, news of special counsel Jack Smith's potential charges against Mr. Trump in the January 6 investigation captivated the media and sucked the national attention away from the other Republican hopefuls jockeying for the spotlight.
The CNN interview of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was slotted into near-non-stop coverage of the former president's newest legal woes.
The unprecedented indictments have already made 2024 the most consequential election cycle in recent history. Both fueled the kind of media carnival which Trump has learned to harness in his own favor.
Now, with the possibility of two more indictments before the end of summer, Americans can expect two summer political blockbusters. Republicans and Democrats alike will have no choice but to watch both.
In the aftermath of the spectacle of the first two indictments, one thing is clear. The charges help Trump in the polls and make the rest of the Republican field struggle for relevance. (The Epoch Times) (Read more)

“There was no surveillance video footage found that provided investigative leads or any other means for investigators to identify who may have deposited the found substance in this area,” Secret Service wrote in a statement. “Without physical evidence, the investigation will not be able to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the vestibule where the cocaine was discovered,” the statement continued, before adding that “at this time, the Secret Service’s investigation is closed due to a lack of physical evidence.”
Of course, many Americans reacted to the Secret Service’s claim with suspicion, especially given Hunter Biden’s long history of abusing crack cocaine.
Since Hunter Biden was at the White House just 48 hours before the Secret Service discovered the bag of cocaine, he is the top suspect in the minds of most conservatives, including Donald Trump.
“THEY 100% KNOW WHO IT IS,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “If they don’t release information, it means they destroyed the tapes & the Cocaine was for use by Hunter, & probably Crooked Joe, in order to give this total disaster of a President a little life and energy!”
But it’s not just Republicans who are suspicious of the cocaine investigation.
During an appearance on Fox News Channel, Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi called for the Biden administration to reopen the investigation into the cocaine mystery.
“It seemed that the investigation was brief,” co-host Sandra Smith began. “It’s the most secure building, potentially, on the planet, and they just closed the door on it,” she continued, before asking “should we be okay with that?” (Right News Wire) Read more here.

Wyoming library board passes strong policy to keep obscene books OUT! Crafted by top pro-family legal group
A model for libraries across the country!
When parents send their kids to the library, they don't want this being presented to them.
At the Campbell County Public Library system in Wyoming, the Library Director and staff are leftists. But the obscene, pornographic books for children and teenagers they had placed in the library are now on their way out!
The new conservative Library Board of Campbell County has now implemented a revised “Collection Development Policy” that has strong teeth to force the obscenity and pornography out – and keep it out. (Last October, right after taking office, the new Library Board cut the library’s ties with the pro-LGBT American Library Association (ALA).)
Leftist library employees often hide behind their library’s Collection Development Policy to enable them to add and keep such obscene books, despite citizen complaints. These policies – in libraries across the country – are almost always copied from the American Library Association and were written for that purpose.
In addition, when public officials try to remove pornographic books, they invariably get letters from the far-left American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) threatening legal action, citing the First Amendment and various obscure court cases. This can be very intimidating to local officials.

Texas’ efforts to stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons, and people into the United States under Operation Lone Star have borne fruit, according to data provided by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who pledged to continue deploying “every strategy” available to respond to the border crisis.
Operation Lone Star was launched in March 2021 in response to a surge in illegal immigration, as a combined effort of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard. The operation deployed air, ground, marine, and tactical border security assets to high-threat areas along the border in a bid to deny Mexican cartels and other smugglers the smuggled people, weapons, and drugs into the country.
A little over two years since the launch of the border security initiative, Mr. Abbott on Friday provided the latest figures that hint at the effort bearing fruit—while blaming President Joe Biden’s policies for the dire situation at the border.
“President Biden’s open border policies created the humanitarian crisis at our southern border,” Mr. Abbott said in a post on Twitter.

An unusual object has been releasing pulses of radio waves in space for decades. Astronomers just discovered it
(CNN) — Astronomers have discovered a new type of stellar object that could change their understanding of extreme celestial bodies in the universe.
Initially, Curtin University doctoral student Tyrone O’Doherty spotted a spinning celestial space object in March 2018. The unfamiliar object released giant bursts of energy and beamed out radiation three times per hour.
In those moments, it became the brightest source of radio waves viewable from Earth through radio telescopes,acting like a celestial lighthouse.
Researchers thought the phenomenon might be a remnant of a collapsed star — either a dense neutron star or a dead white dwarf star — with a strong magnetic field. Or perhaps the object was something else entirely.
After releasing a study describing the observation in January 2022, O’Dohertyand a team of astronomers at the Curtin University node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research, or ICRAR, in Australia began to search for another example.
“We were stumped,” said Dr. Natasha Hurley-Walker, senior lecturer at the Curtin University node of ICRAR, in a statement. “So we started searching for similar objects to find out if it was an isolated event or just the tip of the iceberg.” Read More

Rhode Island School District to Allow Good News Clubs After Discrimination Lawsuit
A school district in Rhode Island is allowing a Christian club to meet on its school properties after settling a religious discrimination lawsuit. The Providence Public School District (PPSD) came to an agreement with the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) earlier this week by entering a consent order to allow Good News Clubs in their elementary schools. In March, the Liberty Counsel filed a lawsuit on behalf of CEF against Providence Public School District and its superintendent, Dr. Javier Montanez, for discriminating against CEF by not allowing its Good News Clubs on campuses while allowing other clubs to meet. According to the lawsuit, the school district stonewalled its Good News Club from elementary schools for two years.
The Good News Clubs make a clear presentation of the Gospel to children, especially those who don't attend church. According to their website, CEF's goal is to reach 100 million children with the Gospel. "The law is clear that public schools cannot discriminate against the Christian viewpoint of Good News Clubs. Equal access means equal treatment in terms of the use of the facilities, including fee waivers, time of meetings, and announcements. The Good News Club must be given equal treatment as the non-religious groups," said Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver. The PPSD is now allowing the Good News Clubs into their schools "on the same terms" as other after-school clubs. Staver considers the move a "great victory for Child Evangelism Fellowship and the students and parents of the Providence School District.
