Biden says Ukraine not ready for NATO membership
|
|
President Biden said that he doesn’t think Ukraine is ready for NATO membership, adding that it’s premature to call for a vote to accept the war-torn country into the alliance.
“I don’t think it’s ready for membership in NATO,” Biden told CNN in an interview that aired on Sunday. The president added that he doesn’t think there’s “unanimity in NATO about whether or not to bring Ukraine into the NATO family now, at this moment, in the middle of a war.”
Biden’s comments come as he’s set to leave for Europe and attend the NATO summit in Lithuania on Tuesday where Ukraine’s membership as well as Sweden’s is expected to be front and center of discussions.
I think it’s premature to say — to call for a vote…there’s other qualifications that need to be met, including democratization and some of those issues,” Biden told CNN. “I think we have to lay out … the rational path for Russia — for, excuse me, for Ukraine — to be able to qualify to get into NATO,” he added.
The president last month said he won’t make it easier for Ukraine to join NATO, noting that the country has to meet the requirements to be a member. But, he also at the time expressed confidence that the membership will happen. (The Hill) Read more here.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen commits ‘embarrassing’ bow during Beijing visit: ‘Never, ever, ever'
|
|
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen committed a string of diplomatic faux pas during her visit to Beijing Saturday, bowing to her Chinese counterpart multiple times without reciprocation — a protocol error that critics flagged as a sign of American weakness.
The Biden administration’s top economic official, on the second day of her four-day effort to mend fences with a major rival, bowed at least three times as she shook hands with Vice Premier He Lifeng, video shows — while He, Xi Jinping’s new economy czar, stood erect, backing away slightly to give the beaming Yellen more room to kowtow.
“Never, ever, ever,” Bradley Blakeman, a senior staffer in George W. Bush’s White House, told The Post. “An American official does not bow. It looks like she’s been summoned to the principal’s office, and that’s exactly the optics the Chinese love.” “Bowing is not part of the accepted protocol,” agreed Jerome A. Cohen, an emeritus professor at NYU and expert in Chinese law and government.
Moments later, Yellen, 76, tripped over He’s name, calling him “Vice Premier Hu” as she opened the first official American meeting with the economic chief, a Xi loyalist who was named to the post in March. (New York Post) Read more here.

US destroys last of its chemical weapons stockpile
|
|
The last of the U.S. chemical weapons stockpile was destroyed Friday.
Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant in Kentucky performed the procedure on the remaining munition to comply with the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention, where 193 countries agreed to eventually destroy their respective stockpiles. America was the final state to comply with the help of another plant in Pueblo, Colorado.
"Successive administrations have determined that these weapons should never again be developed or deployed, and this accomplishment not only makes good on our long-standing commitment under the Chemical Weapons Convention, it marks the first time an international body has verified destruction of an entire category of declared weapons of mass destruction," President Joe Biden said in a statement Friday.
However, Biden acknowledged that Russia and Syria are not in compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention and have committed "brazen atrocities and attacks." (MSN.com) Read more here.

1. Knesset approves reduction of reasonableness cause in first reading - Israel National News
The Knesset on Monday night approved the first reading of the law to reduce the cause of reasonableness.
The law was approved by a majority of 64 to 56.
All members of the coalition voted in favor of the law, while all members of the opposition voted against it. After the vote, the members of the coalition applauded, while the members of the opposition shouted, "Shame."
The "Reasonableness Standard Bill" is an amendment to the Basic Law: The Judiciary, that would block Israel's courts from applying what is known as the "reasonableness standard" to decisions made by elected officials. (Read more)

2. Israel Knesset Set to Vote on New Supreme Court Bill - Algemeiner
Israel‘s parliament was scheduled on Monday to hold a first vote on a bill that limits some Supreme Court power, part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rebooted judicial overhaul that has plunged the country into deep political crisis.
The drive to change the justice system by Netanyahu’s ruling coalition of nationalist and religious parties has sparked unprecedented protests, stirred concern for Israel‘s democratic health among its Western allies and bruised the economy.
Commanding 64 of the Knesset’s 120 seats, Netanyahu’s coalition appeared on course to win the vote, the first of three required for the new bill to be written into law, with protests likely to intensify should that happen.
Netanyahu on Sunday signalled impatience with the demonstrations that have flared anew while protesters promised disruptions nationwide on Tuesday, including at Israel‘s main international gateway, Ben Gurion Airport. (Read more)

3. IDF thwarts terror attack in Samaria - JNS
Israeli forces thwarted a Palestinian terrorist attack near Neve Tzuf (aka Halamish) in the Binyamin region of Samaria on Monday.
According to the IDF, the terrorist was stopped for driving suspiciously close to a checkpoint on Route 450. As troops approached the vehicle, the assailant exited and lobbed a grenade at them, and then opened fire using a makeshift machine gun.
The forces shot and “neutralized” the terrorist, with paramedics later declaring him dead.
Palestinian media identified the terrorist as 33-year-old Bilal Ibrahim Qadah from the village of Shuqba, near Ramallah. (Read more)

4. UAE-Israel land bridge through Saudi Arabia planned - JNS
A proposal to create a land bridge connecting the United Arab Emirates to Israel through Saudi Arabia and Jordan to facilitate the movement of goods is being advanced.
The U.S.-backed “Land Connectivity by Trucks” project would enable trucks to transport cargo between the Gulf of Dubai and Israel’s Haifa Port while significantly cutting costs and time, even before the normalization of relations with Riyadh, Ynet reported.
The land corridor, which would later expand to Bahrain and Oman, is initially intended for cargo. In the future, it would serve passengers, including tourists. (Read more)

5. Jenin terror group claims it fired two rockets fired at Israeli village - World Israel News
The Hamas-linked Al-Ayyash Battalion said on Monday it launched two rockets from the Jenin area towards the Jewish community of Shaked in northern Samaria.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The Israel Defense Forces subsequently located two rocket launchers and two makeshift projectiles near the village.
Sappers were deployed and the launchers were taken for investigation. (Read more)

1. Sen. Eric Schmitt: Freedom of Speech Prevails After Biden Censorship Complex Suffers a Crushing Defeat - Daily Caller
On Independence Day, a federal judge issued a massive victory for free speech and a crushing defeat to government censorship. The court entered a preliminary injunction preventing the federal government from colluding with social media giants, halting what the court described as the Biden administration’s “massive attack against free speech.”
When I was Missouri’s attorney general, I filed this pivotal lawsuit, Missouri v. Biden, which alleged that numerous federal agencies and Biden White House officials colluded with social media companies to censor Americans’ speech under the guise of combatting what they considered to be “misinformation” or “disinformation.” Simply put, there should never be any censorship of Americans’ free speech, including in the virtual town square.
Through the discovery phase, we found several emails showing direct collusion between top Biden administration officials and social media giants to censor speech on the origins of COVID-19 and other topics. Following a meeting with former Deputy Assistant to the President Rob Flaherty and White House COVID-19 Response Team Digital Director Clark Humphrey, Twitter assured the White House that it would increase its censorship of what they considered to be misleading information.
Government officials should never censor speech, and they should never be able to outsource that censorship. This lawsuit is one of the most consequential free speech cases in a generation. (Read more)

2. GOP Lawmakers Introduce bills to Disarm Federal Bureaucrats – Daily Caller
Several Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation which would disarm enforcement agents from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Labor (DOL) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana introduced the No Funds for Armed Regulators Act of 2023 on June 30, joined by seven co-sponsors. The bill would disallow the use of taxpayer dollars to hire or retain armed regulatory enforcement agents in the EPA, DOL and IRS if it becomes law.
“Deep state bureaucrats continue to push their executive authority into every corner of America, treading heavily upon your rights and devouring your wealth,” Higgins said in a June 30 press release. “This bill is a key step in pushing back against the oppressive tactics being used to enforce regulatory policies.”
Republican Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa introduced her own bill on June 30 which would expressly bar the IRS from buying weapons or equipping its agents with firearms, titled the Why Does the IRS Need Guns Act. (Read more)

3. Spain and UK warn against sending cluster bombs to Ukraine - POLITICO
Madrid and London do not look kindly on the American decision to send cluster bombs to Ukraine.
The Biden administration announced on Friday that the weapons will be included in the U.S.’s next $800 million arms package to Kyiv — a decision that has raised humanitarian concerns.
A cluster bomb is a weapon engineered to scatter submunitions (or “bomblets”) over a wide area, potentially risking civilian collateral damage. Washington is not party to the 2010 Convention on Cluster Munitions, endorsed by more than 100 countries, including the U.K. and Spain, and banning their use. Neither are Russia and Ukraine.
“It is important to note that the Russian Federation has been indiscriminately using cluster munitions from day 1 of the unprovoked large-scale aggression,” tweeted Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov after the U.S. announcement. He committed to use the weapons with caution. (Read more)

4. DC Bar Panel Recommends Rudy Giuliani Lose Law License Over 2020 Election Fraud Claims - The Epoch Times
A District of Columbia disciplinary panel has recommended that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani should be disbarred over a lawsuit he filed challenging the 2020 election results.
A hearing committee of the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility said in a 38-page decision (pdf) that Mr. Giuliani, who was once former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, violated two legal ethics rules in what it described as a “frivolous” lawsuit.
The board’s decision stems from a lawsuit Mr. Giuliani filed challenging Pennsylvania’s 2020 election results that was ultimately rejected by several courts. The lawsuit sought to invalidate hundreds of thousands of votes following Mr. Trump’s defeat in the swing state.
The D.C. panel found that Mr. Giuliani made sweeping claims of voter fraud that he did not have evidence to support. The hearing committee said in its decision that Mr. Giuliani’s conduct was “calculated to undermine the basic premise of our democratic form of government: that elections are determined by the voters.”
“Mr. Giuliani’s effort to undermine the integrity of the 2020 presidential election has helped destabilize our democracy,” wrote the three lawyers on the panel, Robert C. Bernius, Carolyn Haynesworth-Murrell, and Jay A. Brozost.
“He claimed massive election fraud but had no evidence of it,” the hearing committee wrote. “By prosecuting that destructive case Mr. Giuliani, a sworn officer of the Court, forfeited his right to practice law. He should be disbarred.” (Read more)

Instead, the media built a false narrative around it that has devastated America. 5. Report: Allegations Emerge of U.S. Officials Meeting with ‘Missing’ Biden Corruption Witness - Breitbart
Allegations emerged Thursday of U.S. law enforcement officials setting a meeting with a “missing” Biden family whistleblower, Dr. Gal Luft, who claims authorities arrested him in Cyprus to prevent his cooperation with House Oversight Committee chair James Comer’s (R-KY) probe into the Biden family.
Comer wanted to interview Luft as a “potential witness” before he went into hiding after his arrest in February. Authorities charged Luft with conspiring to sell Chinese weapons to the UAE, Kenya, and Libya, violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and making a false statement. Luft claims he skipped bail in Cyprus in April while awaiting extradition: “I did not believe I will receive a fair trial in a New York court,” he said.
As a fugitive, Luft alleges his testimony to the committee would show that the Biden family received money from CEFC China Energy Co, an entity linked to the CCP. He also claims the Bidens had a mole inside the FBI who shared information to the benefit of the family business. Luft, who claims he is a fall guy, said he gave the incriminating evidence of Biden family wrongdoing to the FBI and the DOJ in Brussels at a March 2019 secret meeting. But U.S. authorities covered up the meeting, he alleged. (Read more)

6. Comrade Elon: Musk’s Tesla Pledges to Uphold ‘Core Socialist Values’ for Communist China - Breitbart
Elon Musk’s Tesla has pledged to uphold “core socialist values” and compete fairly in China’s fast growing car market. Musk’s latest agreement with the communist government comes of the heels of his praise for the country’s AI researchers. Musk praised the “wisdom and determination” of Chinese AI researchers despite the country’s hostile stance towards the United States.
The Financial Times reports that Elon Musk’s Tesla and its Chinese rivals have vowed to uphold “core socialist values” and compete fairly in China’s expanding auto market. This pledge is in response to a directive from Beijing that aims to end a protracted price war that has been upsetting the sector. Tesla has cut prices multiple times in China over the past year.
16 manufacturers signed the letter of commitment on Thursday at a motor industry conference in Shanghai, including Tesla and its biggest Chinese rival BYD. Following Tesla’s price cuts on its Model 3 and Model Y cars last October in response to escalating domestic competition, there was a price war among electric vehicle manufacturers. The main beneficiaries of this price war have been Tesla and Warren Buffett-backed BYD, both of which reported record sales in the second quarter. (Read more)

7. SANTORUM: If The IRS Gets Its Latest Wish, There Will Be Way More Than 87,000 New Agents On The Way - Daily Caller
Americans were shocked to learn that tucked inside the so-called Inflation Reduction Act was a provision that authorized the agency to hire 87,000 new agents. They were even more disturbed to discover that 90% of the audits authorized by the bill are poised to target small businesses and families making less than $400,000 a year — a fact that even Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen wouldn’t deny when pressed.
However, even the IRA’s infusion of billions of dollars into our government’s most intrusive and powerful agency apparently isn’t enough. If the IRS has its way, tens of thousands of more IRS employees will soon come on the government payroll, expanding the agency into the tax preparation and filing business.
The U.S. tax system has operated on the principle that citizens report their earnings, the government provides some oversight, and the taxes are paid. However, in recent years, progressives like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) have pushed for the IRS to set up a turnkey operation to file our taxes for us. They successfully wedged a provision into the Inflation Reduction Act instructing the IRS to have an independent third-party study the issue. (Read more)

8. Mysterious Investors Behind $1 Billion Land Purchase Near Key Air Force Base – Daily Caller
The Air Force is investigating nearly $1 billion in mysterious land purchases near a key Air Force base in California, but after eight months of digging has been unable to uncover the investors behind the deal, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
A mysterious group known as Flannery Associates has gobbled up nearly 52,000 acres of agricultural land in California, including areas near Travis Air Force Base, sparking concerns of foreign influence that lead to the Air Force’s Foreign Investment Risk Review Office’s probe, according to the WSJ. Flannery maintains it is majority American-owned, with the remaining 3% of invested capital originating from Ireland and Britain, but local authorities, lawmakers and federal agencies continue to probe the opaque company.
Flannery told Solano County it “is owned by a group of families looking to diversify their portfolio from equities into real assets, including agricultural land in the western United States,” according to the WSJ.
“We don’t know who Flannery is, and their extensive purchases do not make sense to anybody in the area,” Democratic California Rep. John Garamendi, the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee’s Readiness group whose district includes the area where Flannery is buying land, told the outlet. “The fact that they’re buying land purposefully right up to the fence at Travis raises significant questions.” (Read more)

The Archbishop of York, a major leader in the Church of England, last week told the organization’s General Synod that the Lord’s prayer was “oppressively patriarchal” because of the reference to “Our Father” at the beginning of the prayer taught by Christ. The July 7 report from GBN, a Great Britain news network, quotes Archbishop Stephen Cottrell saying, “I know the word ‘father’ is problematic for those whose experience of earthly fathers has been destructive and abusive, and for all of us who have labored rather too much from an oppressively patriarchal grip on life.” In other words, Cottrell is saying that Christ was wrong in describing God as Father because the word’s use conjures up bad memories of earthly fathers. What?
It’s this type of thinking that drives people even further away from God, and allows for the misinterpretation of both content and context of the Bible. The Church of England and its American counterpart, the Episcopal Church, have been in decline. They are examples of Christ’s reference to salt losing it savor. They lack zeal for God in their leadership, as do many churches that are compromising to culture rather than being the light of Christ in their communities. Sharing the pulpit with drag queens, supporting the very things that are detestable and abominations to God, twisting the Bible to gain a control are all marks of the times. Sin is justified. Emergency Petition Filed in Major Biden Admin Social Media Censorship Case

|
The attorneys general for Missouri and Louisiana have submitted a petition to oppose the Biden administration’s motion to stay an injunction against its efforts allowing it to contact social media firms about a range of online content, including its efforts to flag so-called misinformation.
Over the weekend, the two states filed (pdf) a memorandum of opposition to the administration’s motion, coming days after a federal judge partially granted an injunction that blocks various Biden administration officials and government agencies such as the Justice Department and the FBI from working with big tech firms to censor posts on social media. It came in response to a lawsuit filed by the attorneys general, who accused the White House and various federal agencies of putting pressure on social media firms to take down posts or suspend accounts.
“Evidence in this case overwhelmingly shows that the way the Government supposedly ‘prevent[s] grave harm to the American people and our democratic processes’ is to pressure and induce social-media platforms to censor disfavored viewpoints on COVID-19, elections, and other core political speech,” they argued on Sunday.
“In the end, their position is fundamentally defiant toward the Court’s judgment,” they added. “It demonstrates that the Government will continue violating First Amendment rights by censoring core political speech on social media as soon as it can get away with it. The motion to stay should be denied.”

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the Biden administration must cease contacting social media companies about a broad range of online content, including the administration’s efforts to flag alleged misinformation. The judge said some of the administration’s past communications with social media companies violated the First Amendment, and said that during the pandemic the government “assumed a role similar to an Orwellian Ministry of Truth.”
Judge Terry A. Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana wrote on July 4 that the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the enters for Disease Control and Prevention cannot take a range of actions targeting social media posts, companies, and users of the platform.
Last week, the DOJ filed an appeal of the ruling and sought to lift the injunction in a filing made to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Previously, U.S. officials have claimed they were aiming to tamp down alleged misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines to curb preventable deaths, which has long been decried by free speech advocates, conservatives, and doctors who promote alternative therapies for COVID-19.
At the same time, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on July 5 that the Biden administration “certainly disagree[s] with this decision” and will “continue to promote responsible actions to protect public health, safety, and security when confronted by challenges like a deadly pandemic and foreign attacks on our election.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Senator Suggests Biden Staffers Could Be Suffering from Stockholm Syndrome: 'Profile of an Abuser'

Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah questioned whether President Joe Biden’s closest staffers might be suffering from a serious condition that is brought on by the psychological strains of being in the presence of an “abuser” for too long.
On Twitter, Lee shared his thoughts on a Monday morning story that claims Biden routinely lashes out at people by calling them names and otherwise treats them as disposable fodder as he navigates year three of his historically damaging presidency.
Early Monday morning, Alex Thompson of Axios cited numerous sources close to the Biden administration for a profile of the president’s “rage.”
One former staffer who was offered anonymity by the outlet stated of the alleged abuse, “No one is safe.”
Thompson’s reporting was well-sourced and questions the “lovable grandpa” narrative surrounding Biden. The senator wrote, “Politicians who treat staff like this shouldn’t be trusted with power — let alone nuclear codes.”
The Utah Republican further noted Biden has for decades been portrayed as one of the few career politicians known for treating everyone with respect.

As Iran grows stronger, it has also become more dangerous and even more belligerent as Joe Biden continues to appease the radical Islamic regime. Israel has a RIGHT to defend its nation against ALL aggressors, but especially Iran. Our voice needs to be heard in Congress telling both sides of the aisle: Stand with Israel — because, heaven knows, Joe Biden won’t!
Defend Israel’s right to defend itself!
Iran is intent on annihilating Israel. The genocidal Islamic regime:

Now has enough enriched uranium for three nuclear bombs.

Is building a nuclear facility so deep it is, reportedly, beyond the reach of American bunker-busting bombs that burrow deep into the earth before exploding.

Recently unveiled a new ballistic missile that can reach Israel with a 1.5-ton warhead.
- Is turning commercial ships into “forward terror bases” that carry — incognito — aircraft, missiles, and more, all to threaten shipping and lands beyond Iran’s borders.
Israel is preparing to act if necessary. It launched in late May a two-week large-scale drill to prepare for a full-blown multi-front war. The Israel Defense Forces chief recently said: “Without going into details, there are possible negative developments on the horizon that could prompt action.”
In the face of this malign threat, Team Biden is reportedly still negotiating a giveaway to Iran, the world’s chief sponsor of terror. Recent talks have focused on the release of up to 10 billion dollars in frozen assets.
Biden has assembled one of the most anti-Israel administrations in U.S. history. He has been talking with Israel’s existential enemy for two years — and Iran has used the time to mushroom its lethal and genocidal capabilities.
HOW CAN THIS PROBLEM BE SOLVED?
It is crucial that America stand with Israel. And for that to happen, pro-Israel Christians must speak out. “Since 1948, Christian Evangelical strength in America has skyrocketed and paralleling it, so has American support for the Jewish state,” states Orthodox rabbi Daniel Lapin. He adds: “America’s Bible belt has become Israel’s safety belt.”

NASA’s Starling Prepares to Launch
Small Spacecraft Swarm to Orbit

A quartet of six-unit (6U) CubeSats will show off their moves in a sort of orbital line dance when NASA’s Starling mission tests critical swarm technologies in space. The spacecraft are planned to launch no earlier than July 14 aboard Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket from Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex 1 facility in Mahia, New Zealand.
Future autonomous spacecraft swarms could change the way NASA conducts science and exploration missions. Spacecraft swarms operating at great distances from the Earth must carry out functions on their own, due to the time delay in communicating with ground stations and potential communications disruptions. Autonomy will ensure that a mission continues to perform even when communications with spacecraft are temporarily disrupted. Additionally, autonomy allows spacecraft swarms to change behavior to observe unexpected or infrequent phenomena – referred to by researchers as “opportunistic science.”
Once positioned about 355 miles above Earth and spaced about 40 miles apart, Starling’s spacecraft will demonstrate the ability to autonomously fly together while keeping track of each other’s relative positions and trajectories. They also will demonstrate the ability to plan and execute activities as a group, without guidance from mission controllers, including responding to new information from onboard sensors. Starling’s spacecraft will also demonstrate creating and maintaining an inter-spacecraft communications network that automatically adjusts to changing conditions. If one spacecraft communications node fails, the network automatically reconfigures to maintain full communication capabilities for the remaining operational spacecraft in the swarm. Read More

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders Defends Children's Chalk Cross Amid First Amendment Debate

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) is standing firm against demands from an organization to remove a cross-inspired chalk design created by her children on the grounds of the governor's mansion. Sanders, the daughter of former pastor and Arkansas politician Mike Huckabee, expressed her commitment to maintaining her Christian faith and has no intentions of concealing it. The controversy arose on June 26 when the governor shared a photo on her Facebook page showcasing the vibrant chalk cross artwork designed by her children. Sanders expressed her pride in their hard work and the impressive outcome. While the children's artwork received widespread admiration, some individuals, including activists from Americans United For Separation of Church and State (AU), voiced concerns over a perceived violation of the First Amendment.
While AU acknowledged the freedom of Sanders and her family to create religious imagery in private areas of the mansion, they emphasized that public areas, including the grounds and entrances, should not permit such displays. AU claimed that the chalk artwork violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. In response, Sanders took to Twitter to deliver a swift and resolute reply, asserting that she has no plans to remove the chalk drawing. She tweeted, "I have received your letter and my answer is, 'No.' I will not erase the beautiful cross my kids drew in chalk on the driveway of the Governor's Mansion or remove my post on social media, and I will not now or ever hide that I am a Christian." Sanders accompanied her tweet with a lengthier letter, expressing her belief that AU is mistaken in claiming that the U.S. Constitution prevents government officials, including their families, from expressing sincere religious faith.
