GOP Discusses New Concessions in Behind-The-Scenes Talks on Making McCarthy Speaker
|
|
Discussions between Republican Speaker nominee Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and some of his 20 GOP detractors progressed on Wednesday after a sixth failed Speaker vote, pointing to more concessions from McCarthy as he aims to win over some of them ahead of the House returning at noon on Thursday.
Items discussed in the meetings, according to a source, included lowering the threshold for a motion to vacate the chair — a move to force a vote on ousting the Speaker — to one member. A previous concession from McCarthy in a House rules package released over the weekend had lowered that threshold to five members, after the House GOP in November had adopted a measure requiring support from half of the conference to bring up the measure.
The longtime request from members of the House Freedom Caucus would restore the procedural motion as it was before House Democrats took the majority, which they argue is a check on the Speaker’s power. Arab FMs Urge UN Security Council to Work Immediately Against Temple Mount Provocations
|
|
Foreign ministers from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Egypt and Morocco convene virtually and issue a joint statement condemning the recent Temple Mount visit of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
In the statement, the ministers “condemn in the strongest terms” Ben Gvir’s visit, which they call an “unacceptable violation” and a “dangerous escalation.”
They call on the UN Security Council, which is slated to meet today on the issue, to “work immediately” to stop such activity.
The ministers also call on Israel not to take any “provocative steps” in Jerusalem that would “threaten security and stability in the region.” (Times of Israel) Read more here.

It is for the Jewish people and the State of Israel to decide who has access to the Temple Mount and who can pray on the Temple Mount. May this pushback from the UNSC fizzle out. 1. Lapid plans US trip to rally Jewish groups against Netanyahu -JNS
(January 5, 2023 / JNS) Israeli opposition leader and former Prime Minister Yair Lapid is expected to visit the U.S. to mobilize the Jewish community against the Netanyahu-led government.
Lapid came in for condemnation from government members following the reports that he will try to enlist U.S. groups in his domestic political battles.
Lapid already has been accused of crossing a red line when it comes to the stridency of his opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, having called on local authorities to flout the government’s directives in connection with the appointment of a far-right Knesset member to a department at the Ministry of Education. 2. Attempted shooting attack in Samaria - Israel National News
An attempted shooting attack on a civilian security officer occurred on the outskirts of the town of Har Bracha in Samaria on Thursday evening.
The officer responded by opening fire at the source of the shooting. A search of the area found bullet casings nearby.
After that, it was reported that gunfire was heard near a military post adjacent to the city of Shechem (Nablus). (Read more)

3. Kohavi said to tell Netanyahu IDF won’t answer in any way to Smotrich and Ben Gvir - Times of Israel
Outgoing military chief of staff Aviv Kohavi has reportedly told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and other senior coalition politicians that the Israel Defense Forces will not be answerable in any way to ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, even though the two far-right leaders have been given ministerial responsibility for some aspects of the IDF as part of their coalition agreements.
Kohavi regards the handing of IDF-related responsibilities to any minister other than the defense minister as an unacceptable breach of the IDF chain of command, and is determined to ensure that the military does not allow it to happen, Channel 12 news reported Thursday evening.
It is understood, indeed, that Kohavi regards any requirement for the chief of staff to report to anyone other than the defense minister as a breach of the quasi-constitutional Basic Law: The Military, whose Clause 2 (b) specifies: “The Minister in charge of the army on behalf of the Government is the Minister of Defense.” (Read more)

4. Israel’s UN Ambassador: Emergency Security Council Meeting on Temple Mount Visit ‘Pathetic’ -Algemeiner
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan on Thursday slammed the emergency UN Security Council meeting on an Israeli minister’s visit to the Temple Mount as “pathetic” and based on a “fabrication.”
“To hold a Security Council session on a non-event is truly absurd,” Erdan said at a press stakeout before the meeting. “Israel’s Minister of National Security’s visit to the Temple Mount lasted 13 minutes in a peaceful and orderly fashion, without causing any destruction. This visit was not an incursion into Al-Aqsa or any other fabrication that the Palestinians branded his visit. Minister Ben-Gvir’s visit was in line with the status quo, and whoever claims otherwise is only inflaming the situation.”
Thursday’s Security Council meeting was requested by the United Arab Emirates and China following National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to the Temple Mount on Tuesday. (Read more)

5. Hamas warns terror group ‘headed for another round of conflict’ with Israel - World Israel News
A senior Hamas official said the terror group was “headed toward another round of resistance and conflict” with Israel on Thursday, during an event marking the 27th anniversary of the killing of its chief bombmaker.
Saleh Arouri, deputy head of the Hamas’ politburo who is currently based in Lebanon, boasted that Hamas was readying itself for another victory.
“We are going through a phase in which the acts of resistance are escalating. We are headed toward another round of resistance and conflict with the occupier; we are headed toward a new victory,” Arouri was cited as saying by The Jerusalem Post. (Read more)

In the latest work from the lab of Khalid Shah, MS, Ph.D., at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a founding member of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system, investigators have developed a new cell therapy approach to eliminate established tumors and induce long-term immunity, training the immune system so that it can prevent cancer from recurring.
The team tested their dual-action, cancer-killing vaccine in an advanced mouse model of the deadly brain cancer glioblastoma, with promising results.
Findings are published in Science Translational Medicine.

2. Damar Hamlin “Awake” After On-Field Cardiac Arrest: Team-Mate – The Epoch Times
A teammate of Damar Hamlin said Thursday that the Buffalo Bills safety is awake, while his
agent revealed he is holding hands with his family in a Cincinnati hospital—after he
collapsed on the field during Monday night’s game against the Bengals.
Agent Rob Butler told CNN that Hamlin’s condition improved and he’s holding hands with his family members, while the organization that represents Hamlin, Agency 1 Sports, wrote on Twitter that his condition improved overnight.
“Damar has made substantial improvement overnight,” Agency 1 Sports wrote on Twitter

If the data is accurate, ‘a million young Americans could have sustained heart damage from COVID-19 vaccination and some of them will be at risk for cardiac arrest and future heart failure,’ the esteemed cardiologist said.
The tragic cardiac arrest suffered by a 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety on Monday Night Football may have been caused by “vaccine-induced myocarditis,” according to distinguished internist, cardiologist, and epidemiologist Dr. Peter McCullough. “If Damar Hamlin indeed took one of the COVID-19 vaccines, then subclinical vaccine-induced myocarditis must be considered in the differential diagnosis,” McCullough told COVID vaccine journalist Steve Kirsch last night.In the statement that was also amplified by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), McCullough described the tragic event as “a classical cardiac arrest,” which was later confirmed to be accurate by the Buffalo Bills, and expressed solidarity in prayer with the entire nation for Hamlin’s “complete recovery.”

experimental COVID-19 gene-based vaccine as “The Buffalo Bills is a 100% vaccinated

4. Arizona Supreme Court Issues Response to Kari Lake’s Election Lawsuit – The Epoch Times
The Arizona Supreme Court on Wednesday denied GOP candidate Kari Lake’s petition to
transfer her election lawsuit to the high court, saying that it will be heard before an appeals
court.
“The Court notes that the Court of Appeals has entered a scheduling order directing
respondents in the special action proceeding to file a response and has indicated that the
matter will be conferenced, with possible oral argument, on January 24, 2023,” the
Supreme Court wrote (pdf). “No good cause appears to transfer the matter to this Court.”
Both the appeal and Lake’s petition for special action without prejudice to seek an expedited review were denied, the Supreme Court ruled. (Read more)

5. Kari Lake: Katie Hobbs Stole Elections to Protect Cartels Trafficking Drugs, Humans Across Border – NewsTarget
Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake blasted her Democratic rival and
former Secretary of State Katie Hobbs for rigging the November 2022 elections. She argued
that Hobbs wanted to protect cartels smuggling drugs and humans across the border.
Lake, a former news anchor, revealed her rival’s plans during her recent appearance at
Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast. She told the former White House chief strategist that
Hobbs moved to ensure a Democratic win at the gubernatorial race. This, she added,
enables the open borders system where cartels can continue to push drugs and traffic
people into the United States.
“It is absolutely appalling and this state is going to go to hell in a handbasket if Katie Hobbs
is allowed to take control,” Lake pointed out.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson rejected Lake’s lawsuit on Dec. 27 that sought to overturn the results of the county’s elections for governor. The magistrate
argued that the GOP candidate failed to prove there was “intentional misconduct” that cost

We pray that her policies will not enable it, either, especially since she has been sworn in. We pray, of course, that this election will be thoroughly investigated and overturned if found fraudulent. 6. Zelensky Says Russian "New Mobilization Process" For Major Offensive Imminent - ZeroHedge
Ukraine says it's bracing for a major new Russian offensive, which will involve a large influx of new ground forces at a time Russian forces are under pressure and reportedly lacking enough manpower to maintain front lines, but did not give a timeline for the expected push.
In fresh statements widely circulated Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia is planning a major "new offensive" which will involve a planned "new mobilization processes."
He suggested the new mobilization is imminent given recent Russian battlefield losses in the east, which includes the devastating strike on a barracks in the city of Makiivka, resulting an a huge Russian troop death toll.
"We have no doubt that the current masters of Russia will throw everything they have left and everyone they can muster to try to turn the tide of the war and at least postpone their defeat," Zelensky said. 7. Biden Delivers Remarks On Border Security As Admin Expands Title 42 - ZeroHedge
President Joe Biden on Thursday will read remarks regarding border security, as his administration has now flip-flopped, and is working to expand Title 42, the Trump-era policy which allows the US Government to expel immigrants while they wait for asylum hearings, as opposed to allowing them to walk free in the United States.
As the Wall Street Journal notes, "The Biden administration is expanding its use of a pandemic-era border measure known as Title 42 to begin rapidly expelling migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, while opening a new legal path for up to 30,000 migrants from those countries to enter the U.S. a month."
The new policy represents the broadest effort yet that the Biden administration has undertaken to deter migrants seeking asylum from crossing the border illegally. It also relies on an expanded use of Title 42 as a border-control measure, even while the administration is arguing in court that the measure is no longer justified on public-health grounds and must end. The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments on Title 42 in February.
The new program will require migrants hoping to seek asylum in the U.S. to be paired with financial sponsors and would give applicants two years of humanitarian protections, under which they can work legally and apply for asylum. -WSJ
Meanwhile, Biden indicated on Wednesday that he will visit the US-Mexico border for the first time since he took office nearly two years ago. (Read more)

- Father God, we are so thankful for any improvements to our critical border
problems; and pray that Biden will begin to do what is truly best for the American
people, whatever his motives may be. We pray for the Republican-led House to
both upend any policies currently in place that would encourage migrants to
cross illegally and then cause legal enforcement of immigration laws to be firmly
upheld and staffed wisely. Thank You for the provisions in our Constitution and
existing laws that should govern our borders.
Almighty God, we ask that the consequences of having had the open border-- drugs, human trafficking, disease, terrorism, to name a few—be dealt with quickly in Your wisdom and the Holy Spirit’s power. 8. Google Has Programmed “Woke” AI to Censor the Internet: Whistle Blower – The Epoch Times
Google has been programming a “woke” artificial intelligence (AI) system that can censor
the internet, according to Zach Vorhies, a former Google employee turned whistleblower. He explains that AI is at the heart of the future internet –determining what content is shown, how facts are weighted, and which voices should be suppressed. What Google is doing, he explains, is limiting the information the AI system is exposed to, so that its breadth of information is limited to biased sources. This is programming the system with its own political biases, which can undermine the basic freedoms of online speech.

censorship at Twitter, and what this means for the future of free speech and online

9. German Study Finds that Covid-19 Vaccines Perpetuated the
Pandemic and Causes Immune System Failure – Pandemic.news
If our country had an honest and competent ‘mainstream’ media staffed with professionals
who took to heart our founders’ intent of a free press to hold those in power to account,
there would be an outcry for one of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical companies to be
held responsible for the damage it did to countless millions of people via faulty COVID-19
vaccines.
As reported by Conservative Review‘s Daniel Horowitz, “Tolerance is a good thing in most
aspects of life. But when it comes to the immune system, artificially juicing up the body to
create antibodies with long-term tolerance to a pathogen is a recipe for disaster.”
He noted further:
Amid thousands of papers on COVID and the vaccines, a new German paper published in
Science Immunology should be the headline story this week. Although the subject matter is
very dense, the implication of it is that the Pfizer shots (and possibly other mRNA
spike protein shots) caused the immune system to misfire, thereby creating an
endless feedback loop of viral immune escape, perpetuating the pandemic in the
macro, and creating immune suppression for the individuals who received them.
He went on to write that it is “vexing” as to why, today, the virus remains with us,
questioning the fact that whereas so many countries in the Pacific Rim did well against
COVID in 2020 and 2021 but now have a much bigger problem in 2022 with a less virulent
strain. He asks further why it appears as though this pandemic won’t end and so many
people continue to contract it more than once.
“None of this is normal,” he wrote. “Wherever you turn, the most vaccinated countries are

We are seeing daily the effects they are having on healthy people getting sick, being hospitalized and there are others that are dying for no apparent reason. Father, you are the only one we can trust. You are the only one we can turn to to rescue us from this plan of the enemy to kill, steal and destroy us.
Abba, you are the creator, there is nothing too hard for you. We are asking that the truth be brought into the open of exactly what negative physical effects these shots cause and what to do about them. Until then, we are asking that your power and authority flow through your people to those who need to be healed, to those who need to be made whole. Give your remnant the grace, plans and strategies to confront this pestilence and stop it from doing further damage in people's lives. Give us revelation, wisdom and knowledge on how best to pray and to serve....we give you all the honor, glory and praise even now for what you are doing. AMEN and AMEN

10. 150,000 Votes in the 2020 Election Not Tied to a Valid Address in
Wisconsin: Election Watchdog – The Epoch Times
Election Watch (EW), a Wisconsin election integrity watchdog organization, has discovered
that more than 150,000 votes cast in the 2020 presidential election cannot be connected
with a valid address.
EW computer analyst Peter Bernegger said the group’s study of Wisconsin’s voter rolls found 45,000 such occurrences involving people who were living out of state in the Nov. 3 ballot, with another 107,000 documented instances on the part of voters who moved to another address within the state and cast a ballot in a different jurisdiction from the one in which they actually reside.
“That’s over 150,000 votes cast in the 2020 presidential election that cannot be tied to a
valid address,” said Bernegger. “That’s illegal in the state of Wisconsin. Though there may be a reasonable explanation for most of these, the number of instances
is so large that if only two out of 10 were nefariously cast votes, that was enough to tip the

Renewing The Most Important Relationship

oe Biden and Congress handed Americans an insurmountable debt with the new $1.7 Trillion budget. National debt has now topped a record $31.4 Trillion–that’s about $94,133 for every United States citizen. Even more sobering the taxpayer share of this debt is $246,866. That’s not even counting the budget burden Congress and Biden have recently placed on every American. Across the country, school systems are promoting sexual perversion. Thousands of illegals are crossing our borders. The government and big business have joined together to censor dissent about fair elections and truth in health, especially about COVID. Terrible ungodly plans are in the works. It’s time to renew our most important relationship.
If ever there were a case that the words of John Jay should be etched on the doorstep of every home, the behavior of Congress and the White House this past year would prove it. Jay, the first Justice of the US Supreme Court, wrote in a letter addressed to Pennsylvania House of Representatives member John Murray, dated October 12, 1816, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Many a pastor has preached from the pulpit that Christians should not be involved in politics, and this current gaggle of evildoers in public office are the wages of this errant teaching.

California storm leaves at least 1 dead, brings dangerous flooding and powerful winds

Life-threatening weather conditions on West Coast continued
into Thursday morning
Dangerous weather in California forced evacuations, knocked out power and left a young child dead.
Evacuations were ordered in preparation for the storm, which was expected to peak into early Thursday, and authorities warned residents to stay at home ahead of the dangerous conditions.
According to The Press Democrat, in Sonoma County, Occidental Volunteer Fire Chief Ronald Lunardi said a child believed to be under 2 years old died Wednesday after a tree fell on a home.
"We anticipate that this may be one of the most challenging and impactful series of storms to touch down in California in the last five years," Nancy Ward, director of the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, said.
Gov. Gavin Newsom's office declared a state of emergency on Wednesday in response to the storm, authorizing the mobilization of the National Guard and activating the state's operations center to its highest level.
"California is mobilizing to keep people safe from the impacts of the incoming storm," Newsom said in a press release. "This state of emergency will allow the state to respond quickly as the storm develops and support local officials in their ongoing response." Read More

'Micromoon' to rise next to famous constellation this weekend
|

The full Wolf Moon rises this weekend, but it may not appear quite as bright or as big in the sky -- especially compared to its counterpart, the supermoon.
The first weekend of the new year will kick off with a full moon, although it will not glow quite as bright as other full moons throughout 2023.
Stargazers can step outside on Friday evening to see the moon rise in the eastern sky to the left of the constellation Orion, but while the event will look similar to a typical full moon, a small change in appearance will result in a phenomenon called a micromoon.
As the moon orbits around the Earth, there are times when the moon is closer to the planet, known as perigee, and times when it is farther away, known as apogee. The viral sensation of a supermoon takes place when a full moon rises around the same time that it is at perigee, causing the moon to appear slightly larger and brighter than normal.
This weekend's full moon is the counterpart to the supermoon as it will take place when the moon is near apogee, making the moon appear slightly smaller and not as bright. The result is a micromoon, although the difference between a micromoon and other full moons is almost imperceptible to the human eye. Read More

Superhero Buffalo Pastors Credit God After Saving Lives:
Rescuing Over 150 People During Deadly Blizzard

Two pastors are making headlines after heroically rescuing 154 people during deadly snowstorms in Buffalo, New York, offering housing and resources to the afflicted during the horrific conditions. Al and Vivian Robinson, a husband and wife who pastor Spirit of Truth Urban Ministry in Buffalo, decided to go out and help people who might have otherwise frozen. It was a stark diversion from their original holiday plans of welcoming home their nine children to enjoy the Christmas season with one another.
But the Robinsons’ bold quest came as they realized their church was the only local place with power. At first, Robinson said he didn’t understand why his church still had electricity. “I’ll never forget asking my wife, ‘Why do you suppose God gave us power, and didn’t give other people power? I mean, why did he choose us?’” Robinson told NewsNation. “And then five hours later, I discovered exactly why our church still had power.” Various numbers are floating around regarding who was fed and housed; he said 154 people were brought to the church. “We just jumped into action and was able to deliver up to 154 people to the church, to not freeze to death,” Al Robinson told CNN. “I wish that I could say that for everyone.”
With 12-foot snowdrifts and frigid conditions, Robinson said he and his wife were glad to serve “We had people that were freezing to death,” he told TODAY. “You could not drive, and the wind chill factor dipped down into the negative 20s, so it hurts your face to walk around.” The couple posted Facebook messages opening the church to locals and even started calling friends and neighbors to check on them. Then, the floodgates opened. “It started with, like, 10 people, two big families, and then it went to 30, then it went to 60, then went to 90, then it went to 100, 120, 128 was the last time I counted, but it went all the way up to 154,” Al Robinson told CNN. “We had people sleeping everywhere in our church, but we were the only ones with the electricity.”
The couple even got a friend to use his snowmobile to help rescue people outside and bring them to the church; he helped those people bring in their cats, dogs, and other necessary belongings. Fortunately, the Robinsons had purchased two weeks’ worth of food for their family of 11 over the holidays. That food helped feed around 130 people, according to TODAY. One of the most amazing elements of the story is the fact the Robinsons had recently sold a rehabilitation home in a bid to create a larger facility.
