Pentagon identifies US soldiers killed in Iran-backed militia attack in Jordan
|
|
The Pentagon on Monday identified the names of three U.S. soldiers killed in an Iran-backed militia attack in Jordan over the weekend.
Those killed were Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Ga.; Spc. Kennedy Landon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Ga.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Ga.
The soldiers were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, Ga.
Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said the "fallen" heroes had been deployed to Jordan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the international coalition working to ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS.
"These brave Americans and their families are in our prayers, and the entire Department of Defense mourns their loss," Singh said.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our three Army Soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in Jordan. Our prayers are with these loyal and courageous Soldiers’ families, friends, and the entire 718th Engineer Company - we honor their selfless service and dedication to duty," USCENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla said in a statement. Iran says claims it is linked to Jordan drone attack, deaths of US soldiers are 'baseless'
|
|
34 AMERICAN SERVICE MEMBERS INJURED, 8 EVACUATED FROM JORDAN FOLLOWING ATTACK
|
|
Iran is claiming that accusations of its involvement in an attack that left three U.S. service members dead in Jordan over the weekend are "baseless."
Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani also claimed that "resistance groups" in the region do not take orders from Iran, according to Reuters. The remarks come after three American service members were killed and other were wounded in a drone attack near the Syrian border over the weekend.
Some Republicans have pressed Biden to authorize stronger action against Iran, with members of both parties concerned about the safety of U.S. troops overseas.
"While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq," President Biden said in response to the strike.
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said in a blistering statement Sunday, "The only answer to these attacks must be devastating military retaliation against Iran’s terrorist forces, both in Iran and across the Middle East. Anything less will confirm Joe Biden as a coward unworthy of being commander-in-chief."
Iran's Mission to the United Nations said in its own statement that "Iran had no connection and had nothing to do with the attack on the U.S. base," Reuters reported.
"There is a conflict between U.S. forces and resistance groups in the region, which reciprocate retaliatory attacks," the statement also said.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a loose coalition of Iran-backed militant groups, is claiming responsibility for the deadly attack.
Militant groups targeted the logistics support base located at Tower 22 of the Jordanian Defense Network. There are around 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel deployed at the base to counter ISIS. (Fox News) Read more here.

'Unleash chaos and bedlam': These states have ruled on Trump's name on ballot
|
|
Efforts 'threaten to disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans'ate ballots — under Section 3 of the 14th
|
|
Former President Donald Trump has prevailed in 18 states to remain on the ballot for the 2024 presidential election, with cases against him pending in another 16.
Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, has faced attempts backed by Democrats to remove him from state ballots — under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, a Civil War-era provision that bars anyone who has previously taken an oath as an officer of the United States and, then, committed or aided an insurrection or rebellion, from holding federal office — based on his actions on Jan. 6, 2021. Two states’ authorities — Colorado and Maine — have attempted to disqualify Trump, though their decisions have been stayed pending a decision on the matter from the Supreme Court of the United States.
Lawsuits to remove Trump from the ballot, mostly filed by voters backed by left-wing organizations, have been dismissed in ten states: Oregon, Nevada, Wyoming, Minnesota, Michigan, Rhode Island, Washington, Arizona, Florida and West Virginia, according to data aggregated by Lawfare. In the latter three states, the suits were dismissed but have been appealed by the plaintiffs. (Daily Caller) Read more here.

- Holy God, we do not want to see another presidential election like that of 2020 again. We ask that You would loose Your holy angels to stand guard over each voting place and over each ballot that will be sent into this election this year. Together, we stand in the place of authoritative prayer, in Your Name. Help us, O Lord we pray, amen and amen.
- "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

White House halts enormous natural gas projects in victory for environmentalists
|
|
The White House is halting the permitting process for several proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal projects over their potential impacts on climate change, an unprecedented move environmentalists have demanded in recent months.
In a joint announcement Friday morning, the White House and Department of Energy (DOE) said the pause would occur while federal officials conduct a rigorous environmental review assessing the projects' carbon emissions, which could take more than a year to complete. Climate activists have loudly taken aim at LNG export projects in recent weeks, arguing they will lead to a large uptick in emissions and worsen global warming.
"As our exports increase, we must review export applications using the most comprehensive up-to-date analysis of the economic, environmental and national security considerations," Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told reporters on a press call. "This action includes a pause on pending applications for exports of U.S. natural gas as LNG to non-free trade agreement countries until the department can update the underlying analyses for authorizations."
"The U.S. is committed to affordable energy and economic opportunities for all Americans. We are committed to strengthening energy security here in the U.S. and with our allies," Granholm continued. "And we're committed to protecting Americans against climate change as we lead the world into a clean energy future." (Fox News) Read more here.
- Lord, we are grieved that a clean energy source has been continually under attack by the Biden administration. We ask that this decision be reversed and truth be revealed.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott spoke with Tucker Carlson on Friday, telling him that he's going to "do as much as possible to put up more border barriers and deny illegal entry," and that "our head is down we are working regardless of what the Biden Administration is doing."
Abbott told Carlson that he's "prepared" in the event that Biden tries to take over the Texas National Guard.
"That would be a boneheaded move on his part, a total disaster," he said. "We are prepared, in the event that that unlikely event does occur."
"We do have other armed state employees on the border as we speak right this minute, and that’s the Texas Department of Public Safety, as well as other law enforcement officers, as well as national Guard from other states. 4. Trump energy secretary, Republicans blast Biden for bowing to 'elite environmental lobby' - Fox News
A wide range of Republicans, including former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, excoriated President Biden for his decision to pause proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects over its economic impacts and potential to boost U.S. enemies.
Perry and Republican lawmakers like House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., and House Natural Resources Committee Chair Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., argued LNG exports were critical for maintaining low energy prices in the U.S., supporting American allies are able to wean off Russian gas and decrease global carbon emissions.
"It is an act of economic hostility to withhold U.S. LNG supply from the allies we have promised it to, particularly in the midst of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Europe," Perry said in a statement. "The Biden moratorium on LNG permits will empower Putin while killing jobs in Pennsylvania. It will hamstring American national security by forcing our allies back to Russia and Qatar for their energy supply." (Read more here)

6. Senior Biden adviser on migration issues to leave White House - The Hill
A top adviser to President Biden on migration issues is departing the White House next week after three years on the job.
Katie Tobin, the senior director for transborder issues at the National Security Council, will leave the administration as Biden comes under fire for his handling of the southern border and as lawmakers on Capitol Hill struggle to reach a deal on immigration.
John Kirby, a White House spokesperson on foreign policy issues, said Tobin was central to organizing the administration’s democracy summits with other nations, as well as the Los Angeles Declaration signed in 2022 that created a framework for Western Hemisphere leaders to manage migration flows.
“We’re all going to miss her. She’s a great professional and has been a true public servant in that regard,” Kirby said, adding that Tobin will return to Chicago to spend more time with her family. (Read more)

8. White House rejects report US considering slowing weapons sales to Israel - Jerusalem Post
The Biden administration is considering slowing weapons sales to Israel to place pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to scale back the war in Gaza, US officials told NBC News on Sunday, although the White House later rejected the report.
According to the NBC report, the Pentagon was reviewing what weaponry Israel has requested that could be withheld as leverage, although no decisions had been made yet.
Among the weaponry being considered as leverage are 155 mm artillery rounds and joint direct attack munitions (JDAMs). JDAMs are used to convert regular bombs into precision-guided bombs.
The White House said on Sunday there was no change in its Israel policy after NBC News reported the United States was discussing using weapon sales to Israel as leverage to convince the Israeli government to scale back its military assault in Gaza. (Read more)

The Journey Of Life
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, January 29, 2024
In my early 20’s, I wrote a song about the journey of life. Part of the lyrics went: “There’s a long lonely road and there’s no turning back now, to a place, to a time, that we knew along the way.” The song spoke to how our own life is solitary in the sense that we each make our own way and no matter how much time there is ahead, we cannot go back in time. We might think of times past, but life never stands still. It is our life and our journey. The choices we make determine not only our path, but also our destiny. That road in this world can be full of woe if indeed we choose to take it truly alone, meaning void of Christ, who told us he would never leave us, even in time of despair. Our example is found in the book of Exodus.
After Pharaoh had let the Israelites go, God took them by way of the desert to the Sea of Reeds. The LORD went before them in a column of cloud during the day, and a column of fire at night. They camped by B’aal Tzefon, an Egyptian idol—the only one left in Egypt after the plagues. God wanted Pharaoh to think that the Israelites’ God was unable to defeat Ba’al, and the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart once again to draw him to the final showdown. Pharaoh and his army came after the Israelites, and when the people saw them approaching they cried out to God and blamed Moses for getting them in this situation. In Exodus 14:13 Moses told them not to fear, but to be steady and see “the salvation of the LORD, which he will show you today.” Read More

'Tokelahoma': Red State Becomes Wild West of Weed Where Chinese Nationals Own 75% of the Farms
|
|
|
Perhaps no state has been as radically transformed by the legalization of medical marijuana as Oklahoma. With the number of growers, sellers, and users skyrocketing across the state, it's no surprise it's being called the Wild West of Weed.
This Bible Belt town of 37,000 is now a marijuana Mecca, with the scent drifting downwind and entrepreneurs known as "Big Papa" and "Boss Lady" riding high on the profits. Ron and BeaAnn Epperson put off retirement to run their 24-hour weed dispensary.
"For our terminal patients, we offer this for nothing. There's a lot of people who depend on this medicine," said Ron Epperson, owner of Big Papa's Okie Toke.
It's clear that many other people are counting on it, too, since voters backed medical marijuana in 2018 by a double-digit margin. One out of ten Oklahomans now carries a medical marijuana card, and no qualifying medical condition is required.
"There are doctors right here in Oklahoma and across the world; they'll tell you smoking a joint will solve your problems," claimed BeaAnn Epperson.
This deep-red Republican state has basically turned green, racking up more retail marijuana stores than Colorado, Oregon, and Washington combined, along with more licensed farms than California. (CBN) Read more here.

- Holy One, we are facing many battlefronts in the cultural revolution we are living in right now, so we need Your guidance and authority, more than ever. We know Your desire is for all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4) so we ask that the body of Christ could step through the haze into the lives of these people to see hope, healing and salvations. Father, we also pray for the Chinese element to be removed from the fiber and fabric of our states, in Jesus name.
- "When Jesus heard that, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, But go and learn what this means: "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.'" (Matthew 9:12-13)

What you should know about the moon area where Japan’s lander touched down
|
|
With Moon Sniper’s battery turned off to maintain spacecraft functionality, JAXA officials are in wait-and-see mode, hoping the changing angle of the sun will restore power to the vehicle and allow the mission to resume. If the lander turns on again, it could make good on its objectives to collect unprecedented information about a region called the Sea of Nectar.
The journey of “Moon Sniper,” the robotic explorer that has made Japan only the fifth country to put a spacecraft safely on the lunar surface, hasn’t gone quite as expected.
Though the mission — officially known as the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon, or SLIM — reached its destination last week, an “anomaly” experienced during descent resulted in the vehicle landing with its solar panels facing the wrong direction, forcing it to operate on limited battery power, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
Now, with Moon Sniper’s battery turned off to maintain spacecraft functionality, JAXA officials are in wait-and-see mode, hoping the changing angle of the sun will restore power to the vehicle and allow the mission to resume. If the lander turns on again, it could make good on its objectives to collect unprecedented information about a region called the Sea of Nectar. Read More

Director behind 'Jesus Revolution' bringing series about King David, Saul to Amazon Prime
|
|
On the heels of the success of the biblical series “The Chosen,” a series following the story of the Old Testament King David and Saul is coming to Amazon Prime Video from the director behind “Jesus Revolution” and “I Can Only Imagine.” Earlier this month, Amazon MGM Studios announced it had entered into an agreement with the new faith-based, values-driven movie studio The Wonder Project and has ordered a new Bible-based series, "House of David," for Prime Video, according to Variety. The Wonder Project was co-founded by director Jon Erwin and former Netflix and YouTube executive Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten. Dallas Jenkins, the creator and director of "The Chosen," is an advisor for The Wonder Project. "House of David" follows the Old Testament account of David, the biblical figure who eventually ascended to become the king of the Israelites.
Per the official description, the show “follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. A prophet prepares to overthrow him — anointing the outcast shepherd boy David as a second king. As Saul’s fury grows, David navigates love, violence and politics in the court of the very man he’s destined to replace. Two kings. One Kingdom. The outcome is war. With House of David being the first project under this new deal, we’re setting the stage for a series of compelling, values-driven movies, and TV shows,” said Jon Erwin of The Wonder Project. “This is a milestone for The Wonder Project, and we’re thrilled to be working with a company that understands and supports our mission and our audience in such a groundbreaking way.” In recent years, Bible-based films and TV series have seen massive success; “The Chosen,” which has had 200 million unique viewers across its platforms since launching in 2017, has been credited with igniting a renewed wave of interest in biblical dramas. Crown Him with Many Crowns

Words: Matthew Bridges
Music: George Elvey
Scripture: His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. Revelation 19:12
Lyrics:
Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne.
Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee;
And hail Him as thy matchless king
Through all eternity!
Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing,
Who died, and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring,
And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of Heav’n,
Enthroned in worlds above,
Crown Him the king to whom is giv’n
The wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns,
As thrones before Him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns,
