Trump rebukes Bank of America, Chase for debanking conservatives;
Sam Brownback 'delighted'

Sam Brownback, the former U.S. ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom, welcomed President Donald Trump publicly rebuking the CEOs of Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase for allegedly "debanking" conservatives. "I'm delighted," Brownback, who also served as a U.S. senator and governor of Kansas before assuming the ambassador position in Trump's first administration, told The Christian Post Thursday. "This thing has been swept under the carpet for way too long, and to get it finally out in the open is an important step to getting it solved." After Trump called out their CEOs in front of a global audience this week, both JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America have drawn renewed scrutiny for their alleged discriminatory practices against conservatives and Christians.
Trump first rebuked Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan to his face Thursday after addressing the elite international World Economic Forum's 2025 Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, remotely from Washington, D.C. "I hope you start opening your bank to conservatives because many conservatives complain that the banks are not allowing them to do business within the bank, they don't take conservative business," Trump told Moynihan, who has served as CEO of Bank of America since 2010 and was speaking to Trump as part of a panel with other major CEOs. The bank account of the National Committee for Religious Freedom (NCRF), a nonpartisan, multi-faith nonprofit Brownback launched in 2022, was shuttered by JPMorgan Chase without explanation less than three weeks after it was opened that year. Brownback alleged at the time that JPMorgan Chase stonewalled their executive director when he asked the bank why the account had been closed. Trump Orders Planning for 'Iron Dome' Missile Shield for US

President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order to start planning for an "Iron Dome" air defense system for the United States, like the one that Israel has used to intercept thousands of rockets.
Trump ordered the defense secretary to submit within 60 days an implementation plan for the "next-generation missile defense shield" designed to guard against ballistic, hypersonic and advanced cruise missiles, including by the development of space-based interceptors.
During the 2024 election campaign Trump repeatedly promised to build a version of Israel's Iron Dome system for the United States.
However, he ignored the fact that the system is designed for short-range threats, making it ill-suited to defending against intercontinental missiles that are the main danger to the United States.
"Over the past 40 years, rather than lessening, the threat from next-generation strategic weapons has become more intense and complex," Monday's executive order said, citing unnamed adversaries' development of missile launch capabilities. (Newsmax) Read more here.

ICE: 'Worst Go First,' but Now There's No 'Free Pass'

A week into Donald Trump's second presidency and his efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, federal officers are operating with a new sense of mission, knowing "nobody gets a free pass anymore."
A dozen officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement gathered before dawn Monday in a Maryland parking lot, then fanned out to the Washington suburbs to find their targets: someone wanted in El Salvador for homicide, a person convicted of armed robbery, a migrant found guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material and another with drug and gun convictions. All were in the country illegally.
"The worst go first," Matt Elliston, director of ICE's Baltimore field office, said of the agency's enforcement priorities.
The Associated Press accompanied the officers, who offered a glimpse of how their work has changed under a White House intent on deporting large numbers of immigrants living in the U.S. without permission.
People considered public safety and national security threats are still the top priority, Elliston said.
That is no different from the Biden administration, but a big change has already taken hold: Under Trump, officers can now arrest people without legal status if they run across them while looking for migrants targeted for removal. Under Joe Biden, such "collateral arrests" were banned.

We know this is a difficult responsibility, but it is so important for these ones to know that they will be stopped from the harm they plan to cause and returned home, so their own countries can maintain responsibility over them. We thank You, Abba, for the speed and determination that we see in action; it is reassuring to know that the criminal illegal immigrants no longer have the luxury to plan their next crime, but rather fear that they may be arrested at any time, in Jesus name.

Trump Order Sets in Motion a Transgender Troops Ban
|

|
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday directing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to revise the Pentagon's policy on transgender troops, likely setting in motion a future ban on their military service.
He also ordered troops to be reinstated who had left voluntarily or been booted for refusing COVID-19 vaccines, outlined new rollbacks in diversity programs and provided for the deployment of a space-based missile defense shield for the U.S. — all on Hegseth's first day.
Trump and Hegseth had described parts of the anticipated orders throughout the day, but the exact language did not drop until late Monday.
A transgender ban had been widely expected, and Trump's order largely sets the stage for a future ban — but directs Hegseth to come up with how that would be implemented in policy.
In his order, Trump claimed that service by troops who identify as a gender other than their biological one "conflicts with a soldier's commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one's personal life" and is harmful to military readiness, requiring a revised policy to address the matter.
Trump had tried to ban transgender troops during his first term, but it was tangled up in the courts for years before being overturned by then-President Joe Biden shortly after he took office.
Two groups, Lambda Legal and Human Rights Campaign, which represented transgender troops the first time, vowed to fight again.
"We have been here before and seven years ago were able to successfully block the earlier administration's effort," Lambda Legal attorney Sasha Buchert said. "Not only is such a move cruel, it compromises the safety and security of our country and is particularly dangerous and wrong. As we promised then, so do we now: we will sue." 1. Israel Slams Newly Signed Iran-Russia Treaty as ‘Dangerous for the Entire World’ - Algemeiner
Israel is deeply concerned about a recently signed “comprehensive strategic partnership treaty” between Iran and Russia, according to the Jewish state’s ambassador to Moscow.
“Iran is a country that has openly and publicly stated many times its intention to destroy Israel,” Simona Halperin told the Russian state news agency TASS in an interview published on Monday when asked about the pact.
“Any cooperation aimed at developing Iran’s ability to realize those intentions, or any agreement intended to strengthen Iran’s economic, strategic, or military capabilities, is dangerous for the entire world and particularly for Israel,” she added.

Despite the reality of a six-week hostage release and ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, the terrorist organization is not hesitating to test the limits of that agreement.
Terrorists in several areas in Gaza have attempted to approach Israeli forces, presenting a threat that in some cases forced IDF soldiers to open fire.
In the past two days, IDF troops fired warning shots to distance such terrorists in multiple areas across the enclave.

The IDF fired warning shots at suspects who posed a threat to troops in various areas throughout the Gaza Strip, the military said on Tuesday.
The IDF urged Gaza residents not to approach the troops deployed in the area.
"The IDF is determined to fully uphold the terms of the agreement to secure the return of the hostages, is prepared for any scenario, and will continue to take all necessary actions to eliminate any immediate threat to IDF soldiers," the military's statement read.

5. UN organizations slam Israel again - Israel National News
Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that Israel's ban on the organization's activities endangers the prospects for future peace in the region.
At a UN Security Council meeting, Lazzarini said that "the relentless attack on UNRWA is harming the lives and future of Palestinians throughout the occupied Palestinian territory, eroding their trust in the international community and jeopardizing any chance for peace and security."
Lazzarini's remarks come after Israel ordered the organization to evacuate its offices in East Jerusalem by this coming Thursday. Last October, the Knesset passed a law prohibiting UNRWA's activities in Israel and prohibiting Israeli authorities and public figures from being in contact with the organization. (Read more)

“THAT ENDS NOW!” Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) declared Friday, announcing that he has discovered an agency contractor is attempting to furtively violate President Donald Trump’s executive orders by changing the name of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) offices.
“My office has been alerted about an agency contractor attempting to obscure its DEI offices and programming in direct violation of the Trump administration’s executive orders,” Sen. Cruz wrote in a social media post, citing Monday’s executive order ending all government DEI offices and affiliations with DEI-activist contractors.
Cruz posted a letter by a contractor’s Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer to the staff, detailing the scheme to disguise two DEI offices and a position by renaming them. The names of both the organization and the officer are redacted in Cruz’s post.
“We want to assure everyone that the heart of what our offices do remains the same,” the DEI Officer writes, announcing the “plan to reframe our work and rebrand our offices.”

3. GOP-Controlled Senate Launches Official Hearing into Panama’s Canal Treaty Breach - The Gateway Pundit
The Republican-led Senate has initiated a formal hearing to address concerns over Panama’s alleged violations of the Panama Canal treaties.
The Panama Canal, a testament to American engineering prowess, was constructed with immense effort and sacrifice. Over a decade of labor, the United States invested nearly $400 million—equivalent to over $15 billion today—and the project claimed more than 35,000 lives. Completed in 1914, the canal has been an invaluable asset, significantly reducing maritime travel time between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
However, in 1977, President Jimmy Carter signed treaties that transferred control of the canal to Panama by the end of 1999.

RINO Lindsey Graham ran to CNN to call for an investigation into Trump’s decision to pull John Bolton’s security.
“Whether you like Bolton or anybody else, we need to make sure that if you serve in our government and you take a foreign power at the request of the administration, that we do not leave you hanging,” Lindsey Graham told CNN’s Dana Bash.

5. The Birthright Citizenship Clause Too Many Forget, but Trump Is Right to Question - Daily Signal
Few of President Donald Trump’s new executive orders have caused as much alarm as the one on birthright citizenship.
That order prohibits federal agencies from issuing or accepting citizenship documents for children born in the U.S. when neither parent is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of the child’s birth.
Critics paint it as flagrantly unconstitutional, including a misinformed federal judge in Seattle who issued a temporary injunction against it last week. But the new policy fits squarely within the text and original meaning of the 14th Amendment.
For the first century following the 14th Amendment’s ratification, few legal scholars would have batted an eye at a directive like Trump’s. If anything, they’d have been more confused as to why the federal government started issuing passports to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens, tourists, and “temporary sojourners” in the first place.
Contrary to popular belief, the law doesn’t say that all people born in the U.S. are citizens. It says that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are citizens. That second, critical, conditional phrase is conveniently ignored or misinterpreted by advocates of “universal” birthright citizenship. (Read more)

In this particular matter, we seem to lack understanding of the meaning and intent of this particular phrase of the 14th Amendment which was written in 1868. Nevertheless, we ask You, Abba, to allow the message and meaning to be clearly understood by those who must enforce this facet of the law of our land.

6. Mexican cartels fire at Border Patrol agents as Trump ramps up enforcement: officials - Fox News
U.S. Border Patrol agents exchanged gunfire with suspected cartel members near the U.S.-Mexican border on Monday, as the U.S. government's response against criminal migrants continues to intensify.
The gunfire exchange – which happened exactly one week after President Donald Trump began ramping up border security on his first day in office – occurred at around 2 p.m. local time near Fronton, Texas.
A group of illegal aliens was attempting to cross the Rio Grande while bullets were fired, but did not make it across. Neither the Border Patrol agents nor the suspected cartel members were hit.

“For American citizens, January 20th, 2025, is Liberation Day.” With these words, President Donald Trump spoke life and hope into a country that for the past four years has lived under the closest resemblance of a Marxist regime in American history. Trump enumerated a long list of actions by the Biden Administration that undermined your rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and subjected you to a tyrannical brand of so-called democracy. You have been oppressed by government actions in your ability go where you want, do what you want, know the facts for life-altering decisions, and pay for your needs. As Trump said, “As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust.”
Just in the executive orders that Trump signed we can find clues to how the Marxist government policies frustrated our citizenship. Closing the border has to do with not only illegal immigration, but also the collateral damage to you and your family. This damage includes higher crime, higher violent crime, a housing shortage, tax dollars used for entitlements to illegals, higher insurance premiums, a fentanyl crisis that is killing hundreds of thousands in this country, and a host of other issues. While the news media refuses to recognize the cause and effect of illegal entry and twists “government” statistics to say it isn’t so, people can see with their own eyes and experience with their own pocketbooks the problems. What is DeepSeek? The AI chatbot is topping app store charts

China-based AI app DeepSeek, which sits atop the app store charts, made its presence widely known Monday by triggering a sharp drop in share prices for some tech giants.
Shares of Nvidia, the top AI chipmaker, plunged more than 17% in early trading on Monday, losing nearly $590 billion in market value. The tech-heavy Nasdaq plummeted 3.5%.
The DeepSeek chatbot, known as R1, responds to user queries just like its U.S.-based counterparts. Early testing released by DeepSeek suggests that its quality rivals that of other AI products, while the company says it costs less and uses far fewer specialized chips than do its competitors.
The product could upend the AI industry, putting pressure on other firms to lower their costs while intensifying competition between U.S. and Chinese companies, analysts told ABC News.
Concerns about data security and censorship also may expose DeepSeek to the type of scrutiny endured by social media platform TikTok, the experts added.

New White House Press Rules Will Expand Access for ‘New Media Voices’

Independent journalists and content producers are encouraged to apply for admittance to press briefings.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Jan. 28 new guidelines for media access aimed at allowing more independent journalists and content creators into media events.
Describing President Donald Trump as the “most accessible” commander-in-chief in the nation’s history, she said the administration is open for communication with all types of news outlets.
“The Trump White House will speak with all media outlets and personalities, not just the legacy media who are seated in this room,” Leavitt said.
She made the remarks during her first press conference at the executive mansion in Washington since Trump entered office for his second term.
The president has repeatedly criticized mainstream media, calling some narratives “fake news” and criticizing what he described as organized partisan attacks coming from certain news outlets.
Allowing more independent journalists and representatives from smaller organizations is meant to democratize admittance to White House events, according to the press secretary. (Epoch Times) Read more here.

'Snow Moon' to follow February's planetary parade

The moon will be the centerpiece for two of February's astronomy sights, including an event that is linked to the wintry weather across North America.
It has been a busy start to 2025 for astronomy lovers with plenty of planets spread across the sky, the moon passing between Mars and Earth in an eclipse-like event, and, in the Southern Hemisphere, views of a comet.

Feb. 3: Moon aligns with 6 planets
The planetary parade that started in January will get even better during the first week of the month as the moon joins the celestial show.
Feb. 12: Full Snow Moon
The second full moon of 2025 will rise during the second week of February, appearing full on back-to-back nights.
