Breaking: DeSantis Drops Out of 2024 Race, Endorses Trump
|

|
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ended his campaign for the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nomination.
On Jan. 21, in a four-and-a-half minute video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Florida governor announced he ended his bid for the presidency. The announcement came two days ahead of the New Hampshire primary.
“Following our second-place finish in Iowa, we’ve prayed and deliberated on the way forward. If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome—more campaign stops, more interviews—I would do it. But I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don’t have a clear path to victory,” Mr. DeSantis said in his video message.
“Accordingly, I am now today suspending my campaign.”
In the same announcement, Mr. DeSantis endorsed former President Donald Trump, the GOP frontrunner.
“He has my endorsement because we cannot go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear,” Mr. DeSantis said. “A repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”
With Mr. DeSantis’ withdrawal, only former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley stands in the way of President Trump reclaiming the GOP nomination. That would set up a rematch of the 2020 presidential election.
“He ran a great race, he’s been a good governor, and we wish him well,” Ms. Haley told a crowd of supporters at a campaign stop at Brown’s Lobster Pound in Seabrook, New Hampshire, upon hearing the news. “Having said that, it’s now one fella and one lady left.”
Her campaign released a statement shortly afterward, stating: “So far, only one state has voted. Half of its votes went to Donald Trump, and half did not. We’re not a country of coronations. Voters deserve a say in whether we go down the road of Trump and Biden again, or we go down a new conservative road.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Thousands Gather To Attend March For Life Amid Massive Snowstorm

Thousands of people attended the annual March for Life, joined by high-profile advocates and speakers, in Washington, D.C., on Friday to oppose abortion amid a massive snowstorm that blanketed the city.
The March for Life is an annual event held since 1974, the year after the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, to rally anti-abortion activism across the United States, with attendees marching from the National Mall up toward the United States Capitol Complex. Nearly 100,000 people were expected to attend the march on Friday, according to Jeanne Mancini, the president of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund, which organized the event, who opened the proceedings.
“I am, myself, the product of an unplanned pregnancy. In January of 1972, exactly one year before Roe v. Wade, my parents, who were just teenagers at the time, chose life, and I am very profoundly grateful that they did,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson, who addressed the gathering before the march began. “America is the only nation in the world founded upon a creed … listed with theological lucidity in the Declaration of Independence … all men are created equal, not born equal, [but] created equal.” (Daily Caller) Read more here.

Sen. Tim Scott Endorses Trump

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) endorsed former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail Friday night in New Hampshire ahead of the primary in the state next week.
“We need a president who will close our southern border today,” Scott told the crowd. “We need Donald Trump. We need a president who will unite our country. We need Donald Trump. We need a president who will protect your Social Security and my mama’s Social Security. We need Donald Trump, who will stop the crime and recklessness in the streets. We need a president who will restore law and order. We need a president who will lower taxes and not raise our taxes.”

1. Multiple rallies demand deal to return all hostages, urge government to step down - Times of Israel
Thousands of demonstrators held simultaneous rallies in Tel Aviv, Caesarea and Jerusalem on Saturday evening to pressure the government to do more to immediately secure the release of the more than 130 hostages held in Gaza by Palestinian terrorists since the October 7 onslaught.
The rallies, organized by the Hostage and Missing Families Forum, featured speakers who demanded an end or a halt to the fighting in Gaza and an exchange with Hamas for the hostages’ return. Hamas has demanded a ceasefire as one of several preconditions for any deal, according to media reports.
Separate anti-government rallies were also held in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, calling for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation. (Read more)

2. In an olive grove: IDF locates and destroys loaded rocket launcher - Israel National News
The soldiers of the IDF's Yiftah Brigade operated in the Al-Maghazi area against Hamas terrorist infrastructure located near and inside civilian buildings in the area.
Armored Corps and Combat Engineering forces also operated in a Hamas command and control center where a weapons production site was located. A loaded rocket launcher was located in a nearby olive grove.
The factories, the weapons and the rocket launcher were destroyed by the IDF.
During the operations, an RPG was fired toward an IDF tank. The forces identified the terrorist cell that carried out the shooting and returned fire. (Read more)

3. Biden, Netanyahu talk for first time since Dec. 23 - World Israel News
U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Friday for the first time since Dec. 23. The call lasted about 40 minutes, according to Axios.
The two address “ongoing efforts to secure the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas” and “reviewed the situation in Gaza and the shift to targeted operations that will enable the flow of increasing amounts of humanitarian assistance while keeping the military pressure on Hamas and its leaders,” per a White House readout.
Biden “welcomed” Israel’s decision “to permit the shipment of flour for the Palestinian people directly through Ashdod port,” the readout added, “while our teams separately work on options for more direct maritime delivery of assistance into Gaza.”
Biden also talked about “recent progress in ensuring the Palestinian Authority’s revenues are available to pay salaries, including for the Palestinian security forces” in Judea and Samaria, the readout added. (Read more)

4. Iran Vows Revenge on Israel for Strike Killing 5 IRGC Commanders in Syria - Algemeiner
i24 News – Tehran vowed to carry out revenge attacks against Israel on Saturday after a missile strike flattened a building used as a base of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in Damascus, killing five Guards and an unspecified number of Syrian fighters.
Tehran “will not leave the Zionist regime’s crimes unanswered,” said President Ebrahim Raisi.
A multi-story building was used by Iranian advisers supporting President Bashar al-Assad’s government was completely flattened by “precision-targeted Israeli missiles,” local reports said.
The Guards said an unspecified number of members of the Syrian military were killed, along with the five Iranians, whom it identified without giving their ranks. The security source said one of the slain Iranians ran the elite force’s information unit. (Read more)

5. US, Egypt, Qatar said pushing plan to end war, free hostages, form Palestinian state - Times of Israel
The US, Egypt and Qatar are pushing Israel and Hamas to accept a comprehensive plan that would end the war, see the release of hostages held in Gaza, and ultimately lead to full normalization for Israel with its neighbors and talks for the establishment of a Palestinian state, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
The plan, whose complete implementation would take 90 days, would reportedly bring all fighting to an extended halt, during which time the Palestinian terror group, in the first stage, would free all civilians.
Israel would simultaneously release hundreds of Palestinian security prisoners, pull out of Gaza’s cities, allow freedom of movement in the Strip, cease drone surveillance over Gaza, and double the amount of aid entering the Hamas-controlled territory.
The next stage would see Hamas release female IDF soldiers and bodies of kidnapped Israelis, as Israel releases more Palestinian prisoners. (Read more)

1: Montana Attorney General Shoots Down Proposal To Enshrine Abortion In State Constitution - TTN
Attorney General Austin Knudsen of Montana stopped an abortion ballot proposal from going through on Tuesday, claiming it was “legally insufficient,” according to the Montana Free Press.
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana launched the ballot initiative in November 2023, which would prevent “the government from denying or burdening the right to abortion before fetal viability,” according to the Idaho Capital Sun. Knudsen dismissed the proposal, arguing in a memorandum that it was “legally insufficient” and “logrolls multiple distinct political choices into a single initiative,” the Montana Free Press reported.
“Ballot Measure 14 creates an express right to abortion but denies voters the ability to express their views on the nuance of the right,” Knudsen wrote.
Knudsen also claimed that the proposal as written would prevent state lawmakers from imposing any restrictions on abortion if it’s deemed “medically necessary,” according to the Montana Free Press.
“This clause makes it so even regulations that serve a compelling state interest and are narrowly tailored to that interest cannot survive,” Knudsen wrote, the Montana Free Press reported. (Read more)

2: Democrat lawmakers sound the alarm over Biden's campaign: 'Not real comfortable' - Fox
Several Democrat lawmakers have expressed unease with President Biden's campaign and its operations as he faces sagging poll numbers and low popularity.
It's a viewpoint that aligns with other left-leaning individuals who have previously sounded the alarm, including a former aide to first lady Jill Biden. Still, Biden's re-election vehicle appears to have not made any significant changes despite the public outcry.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is one such politician who worries about how Biden has approached the election. The Vermont independent, who caucuses with Democrats, said Biden needs to change course and believes the Israel-Hamas war has hurt the president's standing among younger voters.
"There is no question, it is very hard for young people, I think for most Americans, to be excited about what is going on right now," Sanders previously told CNN. "President [Biden] has got to change course." (Read more)

3: Top Prosecutor in Georgia Trump Case Paid for Vacation Flights for Alleged Lover District Attorney Fani Willis - Breitbart
Nathan Wade, the top prosecutor in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump in Fulton County, Georgia, paid for at least two plane trips for himself and District Attorney Fani Willis — with whom he is alleged to have a romantic relationship, according to bank statements revealed Friday.
The bank statements, which were filed as part of Wade’s divorce case, showed that he had paid for plane tickets for himself and Willis for trips to Miami in October 2022 on American Airlines and to San Francisco in April 2023 on Delta Airlines, according to the Washington Post.
Townhall columnist Phil Holloway posted portions of the filing on X. The filing said:
Since Plaintiff filed for divorce, he has taken trips to San Francisco and Napa Valley, to Florida and even gone on Caribbean cruises, enjoyed a trip to Belize, another to the country of Panama and even just last month took a trip to Australia. The evidence is clear that Ms. Willis was an intended travel partner for at least some of these trips as indicated by flights he purchased for her to accompany him. 4: WEF: Biometric Digital ID Cards Could Track Vaccination Status, Dutch Queen Máxima Says at Davos - Breitbart
The introduction of biometric digital identity cards could be used by governments to track “who actually got a vaccination or not,” Queen Máxima of the Netherlands said at the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos this week.
Queen Máxima, a longtime social justice campaigner who has served as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA) since 2009, urged for the wider adoption of biometric digital ID cards globally during a WEF panel discussion titled “Comparing Notes on Financial Inclusion” on Thursday.
“When I started this job, there were actually very little countries in Africa or Latin America that had one ubiquitous type of ID, and certainly that was digital and certainly that was biometric… We’ve really worked with all our partners to actually help grow this, and the interesting part of it is that yes, it is very necessary for financial services, but not only.”
Aside from financial services, the Argentinian-born Dutch Queen went on to argue that the use of digital IDs could be used to keep track of “school enrolment” and to help people to receive welfare from the government. (Read more)

5. With Asylum Backlog Reaching 3 Million, Biden and Johnson Meet to Discuss Border Crisis- The Washington Stand
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signaled openness to making “significant change on the border” during a White House meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). The news comes as reports surfaced that an unprecedented three million asylum cases are currently backlogged in U.S. immigration courts due to Biden’s porous border policies.
Despite the admission, it remains to be seen whether the Biden administration will agree to Republicans’ demands for major policy changes in order to stem the tide of illegal immigrants being allowed cross over the southern border. During Wednesday’s meeting, Johnson reportedly made it clear that in order for a future border security bill to be tied to more funding for Ukraine’s war with Russia, which the White House wants, the final text must “closely parallel” HR 2, the border security bill passed by House Republicans in May. HR 2 would, among other measures, restart the construction of the border wall, increase the number of Border Patrol agents, reestablish the Remain-in-Mexico policy, and tighten restrictions on those attempting to seek asylum.
Senate Democrats and President Biden made it clear soon after HR 2 was passed that the bill had no chance of passage under their watch. But due to public and inter-party pressure, Biden is now hinting at possible openness to making border policy changes. Still, Republican lawmakers like Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) are pointing out that Biden’s apparent change of heart is unlikely to be genuine. (Read more)

6. Suspended Biden Official, Once Ousted For Talking With Hamas, Hired By Yale To Teach Israel-Palestine Course – Daily Caller
Robert Malley, the Biden administration’s Iran envoy, is set to teach a course at Yale on the Israel-Palestine conflict while he’s on leave and being investigated by the FBI, according to the university’s newspaper.
The course titled “Contending with Israel Palestine” is being held this semester, according to Yale Daily News. The class is designed to take “an in-depth look at important questions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” the outlet reported, citing the syllabus.
Malley was placed on leave back in by the State Department and had his security clearance revoked, according to the Washington Free Beacon. He has since been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) due to alleged inappropriate handling of classified documents, the outlet reported.
While he was an advisor for former president Barack Obama’s campaign in 2008, Malley admitted he held talks with Hamas, the terrorist group currently at war with Israel. This scandal resulted in Malley being fired from the campaign, according to the Free Beacon. (Read more)

7. Ford Cuts Production Of Electric Truck They Touted As The Future; Hiring Hundreds To Build More Gas Vehicles – Daily Wire
Ford said this week that it will make significant cuts to the number of employees who produce its touted F-150 Lightning truck as demand for electric vehicles continues to plummet.
Bloomberg News reported that 1,400 employees will be cut from production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, which is cutting all the way back to having a single shift.
Ford planned to produce around 3,200 F-150 Lightnings per week in 2024 at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, which assembles all of the electric pickup trucks produced by Ford. Ford announced last month that it was cutting its production of the trucks in half, all the way down to 1,600 per week.
Ford has slashed $12 billion in EV investments as it struggles to sell its all-electric vehicles to consumers who have numerous concerns about transitioning from gas to electric, especially as retail prices for most EVs remain high. (Read more)

8. Weapons Problem Increases Likelihood Taiwan Could Soon Be Invaded By China – Daily Wire
A number of factors seemingly converging at the same time are increasing the likelihood that Taiwan could soon be invaded.
For starters, Taiwan elected Lai Ching-te of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as their next president last week, who has vowed to keep the island nation independent from communist China. This comes despite China’s warnings that Taiwan will be reunited with it either through elections or through the Chinese military invading the country.
Combine the election results with China’s economy being in bad shape and the possibility that Joe Biden’s presidency could soon come to an end — which has been hallmarked with projecting weakness when it comes to dealing with foreign adversaries — and the likelihood increases that China could view the near future as their best opportunity to invade Taiwan.
Those fears are like to surge even further given a new report from The Wall Street Journal this week that warns that billions of dollars worth of American weapons that Taiwan needs to defend itself from Chinese invasion have not been delivered and could still be years away from arriving.
“Most contracts for defense equipment signed under both the Trump and Biden administrations have been stalled by bureaucratic delays and capacity limits at defense manufacturers, creating a $19 billion backlog of uncompleted orders” the report said. (Read more)

China Bioengineers Deadlier Coronavirus

Researchers associated with the Chinese military have bioengineered a COVID-related coronavirus (GX_P2V) that “can cause 100% mortality” in lab mice modified with human DNA, according to a “preprint” — a not-yet-reviewed paper — posted online on January 4. The development “is sure to remind many of the Wuhan lab incident,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins warned on “Washington Watch,” as the Chinese research team underscored the “spillover risk of GX_P2V into humans.”
After modifying a coronavirus found in a Malaysian pangolin, researchers were surprised that “all the mice that were infected with the live virus succumbed to the infection within 7-8 days post-inoculation, rendering a mortality rate of 100%.”
The laboratory test was designed and conducted by “researchers from the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering and the Research Center for Clinical Medicine of the Fifth Medical Center of PLA (the People’s Liberation Army) General Hospital,” according to The New American. The First Full Moon of 2024—The ‘Full Wolf Moon’—Will Soon Rise, But Why Is It Called That?

The eerily mysterious sounding name “Full Wolf Moon” denotes the full moon that occurs every January—the first full moon of the year! The first thing one might ask about this moon is how it got its ominous-sounding moniker that seems more fitting for Halloween.
Packs of wolves were heard howling outside villages in Colonial American times, and traditionally it was thought this was from hunger during the winter months, according to Farmer’s Almanac. But in fact, today it is known that wolves howl for myriad reasons: to define territory, solidify social bonds, locate members of the pack, and coordinate hunting activities.
Nor is January’s full moon necessarily special for having such a name—all calendar months have their own moons and associated names, such as the Worm Moon in March and Strawberry Moon in June. Such names do not denote just the full moon either, but their entire respective lunar month.
Traditionally, various cultures have named full moons to match the seasons in which they fall. Besides Wolf Moon, it has been given other names: In parts of Canada, where the sound of cracking is heard in the trees during winter, this moon was referred to as the Frost Exploding Moon by the Woodland Cree people. It was given the name Spirit Moon by the Ojibwe, connecting it with the aurora borealis as well as a time of prayer and reflection. Read More

The House Passed These Pro-Life, Pro-Women Bills Ahead of 51st March for Life
|

As thousands of pro-life advocates descended on the National Mall on Friday for the 51st annual March for Life, the U.S. House of Representatives passed two bills designed to help pregnant women and their families. Both the Pregnant Students' Rights Act & the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act were passed on Thursday and aim to support pregnancy centers and pregnant students attending college. The Pregnant Students' Rights Act ensures that universities and colleges provide information, requiring them to communicate with pregnant students about their rights, accommodations, and resources available to them. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA), who authored the bill, said, "It's unacceptable that pregnant women on college campuses are often pressured to have an abortion. My bill ensures young women are empowered to choose life and create the best future for themselves and their child."
"Pregnant college students should never feel like abortion is their only option," said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). "The Republican-led House took a huge step in empowering women to choose life by passing this legislation. I encourage my Senate colleagues to follow suit and work to ensure young women are aware of all the resources available to them and their babies while pursuing their education." The Parenting Women and Families Act prohibits the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing a proposed change in regulations that would essentially cut funding for pregnancy centers. She said in a statement that the Biden Administration is "trying to push its anti-woman, anti-abortion agenda, this time taking aim at these vital centers.
