Trump to be sworn in on Bible given to him by his mother, and the Lincoln Bible
|
|
President-elect Donald Trump will have his hand on two Bibles during his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, the culmination of the 60th Presidential Inauguration.
Trump will use his Bible, given to him by his mother in 1955, to "mark his Sunday Church Primary School graduation at First Presbyterian Church, in Jamaica, New York," a press release from his inaugural committee states.
In addition to the sentimental Bible, the Lincoln Bible, first used in 1861 to swear-in the 16th U.S. president, will be used. (Fox News) Read more here.
(Note from the editor: this photo was taken eight years ago, which is why Baron looks so short! However, these are the same Bibles that Melania will hold today at noon, inside the Capitol Rotunda. Thank you for praying for the 47th President of the United States of America!

Virginia's Governor Youngkin Welcomes President Trump to Virginia
|
|
|
We have good news for all of our readers!
In addition to the thousands of intercessors who have now poured into our city,
covering DC in on-site prayer, our Lord gave us a suprise late last week, when we
noted that the first official event of Inauguration Week was scheduled to take place
right here in northern Virginia at the Trump National Golf Course!
So we deployed "two of our own" to also cover that site in prayer, too. Praise God!

In Israel: Three Israeli hostages released by Hamas in good health
|
|
|
Three Israeli hostages were released to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) on Sunday following a ceasefire deal between Israel and the militant group Hamas.
The three freed hostages, Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher and Emily Damari, were released by Hamas to the IDF on Sunday, the military announced on X. The trio entered Israeli territory soon after, where they received medical treatment and evaluation.
Israel is expected to release around 90 Palestinian prisoners on Sunday through a deal announced by President Biden earlier this week.
The freed hostages were reportedly in good health, according to the Red Cross, who helped facilitate the exchange, according to the IDF.
In October 2023, Romi Gonen, 24, was kidnapped from the Nova music festival, and Emily Damari, 28, and Doron Steinbrecher, 31, were kidnapped from Kibbutz Kfar Aza.
Their release comes amid the ceasefire in Gaza, which took effect early Sunday. It is the first step in ultimately ending the conflict and returning nearly 100 hostages abducted in Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack. (The Hill) Read more here.

USA Today’s information on the terms of the hostage deal
What are the terms of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal?
The deal is expected to unfold in three stages.
The first stage, due to take place over the next six weeks, would see 33 hostages released in small groups at regular intervals in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons. During this time, Israeli troops would withdraw from populated areas of Gaza.
Negotiations for the second phase, when more hostages and prisoners will be released and the war would end, are due to begin in early February − sixteen days after the implementation of the first stage. The third phase involves Gaza's reconstruction and the return of any remaining deceased hostages, a process that could take years. (Read more)

Ben-Gvir: 'If deal is approved Otzma Yehudit will leave government' - Israel National News
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Thursday that if the hostage deal with Hamas is approved by the Cabinet, he and his party will resign from the government.
"The deal that is being formed is reckless," Ben-Gvir opened.
"When you see the jubilation of the Hamas supporter (MK) Ayman Odeh, the dancing in Gaza, and the celebrations in the villages of Judea and Samaria - you understand which side is surrendering in this deal. Therefore, if this reckless deal is approved and implemented, the Otzma Yehudit party will not be part of the government and will leave it," the Minister declared.
He added: "I call on the members of the Religious Zionist party as well as the idealistic MKs in the Likud to act similarly, and together with us to prevent the implementation of this reckless surrender deal."(Read more)

Father, we thank You for the release of the three women as of Sunday morning. But we also ask that this deal move forward more quickly, bringing home every hostage and doing so without harm to Israel. This deal calls for the release of 150 Palestinians convicted of murder/terrorism, etc. We pray especially that You will protect Israel and the US from any and all plans of the enemy to harm either nation.
“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
|
|
|
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is dedicated to equipping members of the Body of Christ to “pray for those in authority over us” [see I Tim. 2:1-2] in our legislative branch of government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that God’s “will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” [see Matthew 6:10]. In addition, all of our prayers are anchored in Scripture, because it is written that “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” [Isaiah 55:11]
As we intercede for each of the 435 members of the House of Representatives and the 100 members of the Senate, our heartcry is that our God would touch each heart, drawing them to Himself in salvation. Praise God for his mighty power in the hearts of men!
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Moreover, because the scriptures indicate that “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” [James 5:16b], we are confident that fervent prayer offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land will avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us and engage in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: “For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” [Romans 13:1b]
Finally, we also wish to honor the several other ministries that now stand in the nation’s capital, covering the other two branches of our government. We stand united, as “one tribe,” for it is written that: For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver, the LORD is our King; he will save us” [Isaiah 33:22]. In addition, we pray daily “for the peace of Jerusalem” [Ps. 122:6a] and publish news from Israel on our daily reports.
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Friends may participate either directly on this website or by subscribing for our daily prayer alerts (The Daily Brief) or our Legislative Snapshots.
