YouVersion Bible App Breaks Record in Single-Day Downloads
|
|
Sunday was a big day for the YouVersion Bible app. The faith-based app’s founder, Bobby Gruenewald, told The Christian Post the YouVersion team “saw 18.2 million people engage in the Bible and more than 798,000 installs” this past Sunday. “We tend to see a seasonal uptick in Bible engagement at the beginning of the year as people start new habits and are interested in reading the Bible for the first time,” he said. “What’s interesting to us is that this year’s increase is even higher than this same time last year, and it’s a trend we’re seeing globally.”
The number of downloads at the beginning of the week set a new record, beating the record set on the first Sunday of last year. What’s most interesting, though, is where in the world YouVersion saw the greatest increase in downloads. To name a few, the Scripture-reading app saw a 198% increase in Ethiopia, a 94% increase in Egypt, a 74% increase in Turkey, a 65% increase in Ghana, and a 48% increase in Pakistan. North Africa saw an overall engagement increase of 297% while the Middle East saw an uptick of 166%. Avi Abelow: Why Did President Trump Pressure Israel to Make a Deal with Hamas?

We can only hope that Trump’s pressure is part of a larger plan to secure Israel’s
total victory, not its surrender.
It seems that the deal brokered under pressure from incoming President Trump is done,
forcing Israel to release terrorists and essentially withdraw from Gaza in exchange for
freeing some hostages.
I am left grappling with profound confusion and disbelief.
How is it that after enduring the most horrific attack in modern Israeli history—a massacre
on Oct. 7th that claimed thousands of lives and led to the kidnapping of innocent men,
women, and even babies—that Israel is still the one being pressured?
Why is the Jewish state, the victim of this barbarity, forced to capitulate to the demands of
its enemies?

The Insurance Industry is Going to be Absolutely Devastated by the Los Angeles Fires
|
|
Will the insurance industry be able to survive tens of billions of dollars in losses from the Los Angeles fires? There have been catastrophic fires in California before, but never
anything quite like this. So what is going to happen to homeowners if their insurance
companies go bankrupt and cannot pay? Even the ones that do not go bankrupt are really
going to struggle. I have a feeling that some of them will delay payouts for an extended
period of time and will deny as many claims as they possibly can in a desperate attempt to
survive. In the end, it is likely that vast numbers of homeowners that were counting on
their insurance companies to bail them out will be left holding the bag.
It is being projected that total economic losses from these fires could reach 150 billion
dollars, and the insurance industry will be hit with approximately 20 to 25 billion dollars of those losses…
Analysts at Evercore ISI have estimated that insurance industry losses from the Los Angeles wildfires will be in the $20 billion to $25 billion range, and also expect the fires to be treated as one event which could help primary carriers reach their reinsurance coverage.
That is going to be a really tough pill to swallow.

Father God, we stand in faith and decree that You are the God of the impossible. We ask for You to pour out supernatural faith into the hearts of those left desolate and hopeless, open doors and create the wealth needed to make their homes whole again all over the LA area. Trump 2.0 is Radically Different and Could be More Potent

The President-elect Trump who will take the oath of office Monday is a radically different
figure than the one who shook up Washington eight years ago.
This Trump knows more about how Washington works. Trump 1.0 wanted to change
Washington, but Trump 2.0 is set up better to succeed, and the president-elect is equipped
with a highly capable chief of staff in Susie Wiles, who has infused more discipline into his
operation.
“When it comes to the three big things — the people, the process and the priorities — these guys are in a totally different league than we were in 2016,” said Sean Spicer, who served as Trump’s press secretary upon taking office in 2017.
“It’s not just lessons learned. It has to do with the environment,” Spicer added, noting
Trump this time has the full backing of the Republican Party and is entering with the
mandate of a popular vote victory.
Trump’s team retains its outsider appeal, and the frenzy that was a defining element of
Trump’s first term is unlikely to disappear. But it’s also a team with more insiders who can

1. Hostage release plan finalized: 33 hostages to be freed in initial phase - Jerusalem Post
After months of intense negotiations, Israel is set to implement the first phase of a hostage release agreement on Sunday, January 19, 2025. This initial phase will see the release of 33 hostages over 42 days. The hostages include women, children, elderly individuals, and those with urgent medical needs.
Timeline and details
The initial phase begins with the release of three hostages on January 19. Each week, additional hostages will be freed, with a focus on women and children. The final group in this phase is expected to include long-term captives Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed.
Terms of the agreement
The deal includes the controversial release of approximately 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 200 described as having “blood on their hands.” Additional terms involve increased humanitarian aid to Gaza and a phased withdrawal of IDF troops from key positions. (Read more)

2. Israel Said to Clear Final Obstacles to Gaza Ceasefire Deal as Hostage Families Remain in Turmoil - Algmeiner
The last obstacles to a Gaza ceasefire and hostage-release deal had been ironed out, and Israel’s security cabinet was set to approve it on Friday, Israeli officials said on Thursday evening.
The news came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delayed the agreement earlier in the day, accusing the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas of reneging on previously agreed-upon terms.
A US source, cited by Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, also confirmed that the differences had been resolved. Meanwhile, a senior US official vowed the deal would proceed by Sunday — a day ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Thursday that if the hostage deal with Hamas is approved by the Cabinet, he and his party will resign from the government.
"The deal that is being formed is reckless," Ben-Gvir opened.
"When you see the jubilation of the Hamas supporter (MK) Ayman Odeh, the dancing in Gaza, and the celebrations in the villages of Judea and Samaria - you understand which side is surrendering in this deal. Therefore, if this reckless deal is approved and implemented, the Otzma Yehudit party will not be part of the government and will leave it," the Minister declared.
He added: "I call on the members of the Religious Zionist party as well as the idealistic MKs in the Likud to act similarly, and together with us to prevent the implementation of this reckless surrender deal." (Read more)

4. Recognizing ‘Palestine’ would create Hamas terror state, Israeli FM says in response to Blinken - JNS
Granting the Palestinians statehood in the wake of the Hamas-led terrorist attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, would amount to the creation of a “Hamas state,” Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar charged on Wednesday, speaking hours after his U.S. counterpart endorsed the recognition of “Palestine.”
“In the current situation, establishing a Palestinian state will surely be a Hamas state,” Israel’s top diplomat told an Italian reporter who asked about U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s remarks during a joint press briefing with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Rome.
Sa’ar added that “there is a reason why the Palestinian Authority didn’t make elections since 2005.”
A poll published in December showed that nearly two-thirds of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and Judea and Samaria prefer Hamas to be part of, or even lead, a governing body that would control the Strip after the current war with Jerusalem concludes. (Read more)

5. Hamas deal: IDF withdrawals, release of over 1,000 terrorists - JNS
Over a thousand prisoners, including many serving life sentences, will be released by Israel as part of its ceasefire agreement with Hamas, according to details reported by Palestinian and Israeli media on Wednesday night.
Mediators who announced the deal on Wednesday stated that the ceasefire will begin on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. The operation to free the hostages, named “Wings of Freedom,” will commence the same day with the release of the first group of hostages. Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces is finalizing preparations to ensure the hostages’ security and their safe transfer to hospitals in Israel.
Prisoner and hostage exchange
The deal includes the release of prisoners from Gaza detained on Oct. 8, 2023, following the Hamas-led massacre that initiated the war. These individuals were not involved in the Oct. 7 attack.
A total of 33 hostages, out of the 98 held by Hamas in Gaza, are set to be released during the first phase. The agreement specifies that nine sick and injured captives will be exchanged for 110 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli prisons.

2. Report: Biden Admin Singled out Pro-Life, Pro-Family Americans as Terrorists – Prophecy Newswatch
During its four years in office, the Biden-Harris administration conducted a whole-of-government attempt to surveil, censor, and possibly imprison conservative Christians -- and the FBI acted as "a witting participant" in their harassment campaign, a massive new government report details.
The Democratic administration's attempt to harass "pro-life, pro-family" citizens takes up a significant part of the 17,019-page report, which the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released on December 20. Lord we pray you comfort them and give them peace. We pray for the ones who have perished and their families and loved ones. Lift them up and give them strength to get through this tragedy. We asked for you to help the ones who are homeless and forgotten, because you see their loss and pain. We ask you to revive their lives and help rebuild their homes and businesses. You are a God who sees and cares for your people. We ask that those in charge who neglected doing what it takes to prevent these fires will accept their responsibility and change the way the Democratic governing powers have failed and get a new plan, so this will never happen again. 5. What Should be Done to People that are Looting or Committing Acts of Arson During the LA Fires? - The Economic Collapse
What would you do to criminals that are using the California fires as an opportunity to loot homes? And what would you do to criminals that are setting additional fires? There are no words that are sufficient to describe the immense devastation that we are witnessing in the Los Angeles area. Thousands upon thousands of people have lost everything, and it is already being projected that this will be one of the costliest disasters in U.S. history. It is sickening that there are people out there that are so eager to take advantage of the suffering of others, but this is the world that we live in now. Dozens have already been arrested, and we are being told that “none of those arrested were actually living in the evacuation zone”…

I pray for revival in California and in the city of LA. Send your Holy Spirit down to convict the hearts of everyone in this city. People will be astonished at your power to save broken, lost and hurting people. Erase greed and money from their thoughts. Replace it with love, kindness, and caring souls. Of Gaslighting and Blame Shifting

The extreme left never misses a chance to use a crisis for political purposes. The tragic Los Angeles fires are just one example. Liberals are screaming global warming as the cause, even though suspects have been arrested for arson. News sources report the LA Police Department has launched an arson investigation and arrested an illegal alien homeless suspect near the Kenneth fire. Another suspect, 60 year old Gloria Lynn Mandich, was taken into custody of suspicion of starting a fire and booked on a felony charge of arson. She is held on $20,000 bail, but People.com says she is not suspected of starting one of the major fires engulfing LA. Two suspects for arson, no admission of guilt.
The NY Post reports that the homeless man was riding around on a bicycle with a propane blowtorch setting fire to old Christmas trees and garbage cans about the same time the Kenneth fire started. Police, however, could not confirm the suspect was involved in arson, but held him on another felony charge. Meanwhile, the NY Times is guiding people toward global warming as the cause of the fire. The LA Times reported January 10 that the fires “erupted following a stark shift from wet weather to extremely dry weather — a phenomenon scientists describe as “hydroclimate whiplash.” New research shows these abrupt wet-to-dry and dry-to-wet swings, which can worsen wildfires, flooding and other hazards, are growing more frequent and intense because of human-caused climate change.” Read More

China Looses Drones in America

Chinese Drone Giant DJI Removes Geofencing that Protects White House, Airports, Wildfires
|

|
China’s DJI, the world’s leading drone manufacturer, has decided to remove its long-standing geofencing feature, which previously prevented drones from flying over restricted areas such as airports, wildfires, and the White House.
The Verge reports that Chinese drone manufacture DJI has made a significant change to its flight control software, effectively removing geofencing restrictions that have been in place for over a decade. Geofencing drones effectively creates invisible walls around sensitive locations like airports, preventing drone operators from purposefully or accidentally flying their drone into an area where they shouldn’t.
The geofencing feature, voluntarily implemented by DJI, had been designed to automatically prevent drones from flying over sensitive areas such as runways, power plants, public emergencies, and critical government buildings. However, the company has now chosen to place control back in the hands of drone operators, offering only a dismissible warning instead of enforcing strict no-fly zones.
DJI’s global policy head, Adam Welsh, explained to the Verge that this decision aligns with the introduction of Remote ID technology, which publicly broadcasts the location of a drone and its operator during flight. Welsh suggests that this technology provides authorities with the necessary tools to enforce existing rules, making the geofencing feature less critical. (Breitbart) Read more here.

Archaeology breakthrough as incredible 4,100 year old Egyptian tomb uncovered

Archaeologists were left speechless after discovering a 4,100-year-old tomb filled with vibrant wall paintings of and inscriptions. The French-Swiss team, who have been excavating in the burial ground of Saqqara (part of the necropolis of the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis) believe the kiln tomb belonged to a 'magical' doctor and priest that may treated one of the most powerful kings in ancient Egypt.
A false-door gravestone (also known as a stele) was found with the name 'Tetinebefou' engraved into it. Tetinebefou was a well-known wizard doctor who worked during the reign of King Pepi II of the Sixth Dynasty, which spanned from around 2305 BC to 2118 BC.
"When we began to clear the well leading to the burial chamber, a limestone element appeared: the lintel of the burial chamber, inscribed with beautiful and large hieroglyphs repeating the name and titles of Tetinebefou," a translated blog post of the researchers reads. "It was therefore indeed the tomb of our doctor. And we were not at the end of our surprises!"
Archeologists entered to find wall paintings in 'bright, fresh colours' that had remained in good condition despite their age. This includes images of what appears to be jugs and vases, as well as jewellery and rectangular patterns. Read More
