US Reaches Debt Ceiling, Forcing Treasury into "Extraordinary Measures"
|
|
The United States has officially reached its statutory debt limit (pdf) of $31.381 trillion on Jan. 19 as was predicted by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a letter to Congress (pdf) on Jan. 13. The Treasury Department will now have to implement extraordinary measures to prevent default on the national debt.
In her letter, Yellen explained that the debt limit is the total amount of money that the United States government is authorized to borrow to meet its existing legal obligations, including Social Security and Medicare benefits, military salaries, interest on the national debt, tax refunds, and other payments.
“Presidents and Treasury Secretaries of both parties have made clear that the government must not default on any obligation of the United States,“ Yellen wrote.The Treasury Department may use accounting and budgetary measures known as “extraordinary measures” to avoid defaulting on the national debt until Congress takes action to raise the debt limit and allow the government to borrow again. The duration of these measures depends on the government’s spending levels and is not permanent. The Treasury Department will only be using two of the four available extraordinary measures during the initial phase of the debt limit standoff.
Two Extraordinary Measures
The Treasury anticipates implementing these two extraordinary measures this month, January 2023. Firstly, to redeem existing, and suspend new, investments of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund (CSRDF), and the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund (Postal Fund). Secondly, reinvestments of the Government Securities Investment Fund (G Fund) of the Federal Employees Retirement System Thrift Savings Plan, will be suspended.Yellen warned that the use of extraordinary measures only enables the government to meet its obligations for a limited time.
“It is therefore critical that Congress act in a timely manner to increase or suspend the debt limit. Failure to meet the government’s obligations would cause irreparable harm to the U.S. economy, the livelihoods of all Americans, and global financial stability. Indeed, in the past, even threats that the U.S. government might fail to meet its obligations have caused real harms, including the only credit rating downgrade in the history of our nation in 2011,” she wrote. Operation Sandman Now Activated: Saudi Arabia Announces END of Dollar Dominance in Global Oil Trade...the Dominoes Begin to Fall on the US

As we have consistently warned for more than a year, Operation Sandman has now been activated, with Saudi Minister of Finance, Mohammed Al-Jadaan, telling Bloomberg TV (during a WEF Davos interview) that the Saudis will gladly accept all currencies for settling oil transactions. The foundational pillar of US global currency dominance and its ability to export inflation to the world is based on the so-called Petrodollar status, in which the US agreed to protect the (corrupt) Saudi kingdom in exchange for the Saudis demanding US dollars for all oil transaction settlements. This agreement has been in place since the Bretton Woods conference in 1944 and has carried the dollar until today.
But this arrangement is now coming to an end.
Very few Americans have any clue what this means to their assets and their future.
Also, very few people realize that over 100 nations are prepared to renounce the petrodollar as the dominant currency for oil settlements. Instead, many nations are going to switch to using the Yuan (from China), or the digital Yuan, or the new BRICS+ commodities-backed reserve currency that’s about to be launched by China, Russia, India and other participating nations.
The dominoes have been set into motion. And as this plays out, it means dollars will come flooding back to the United States as world nations dump the greenback fiat currency they no longer need. This means dollars will experience rapid devaluation in their purchasing power, which will be reflected in higher prices — i.e. inflation — in consumer goods such as groceries, automobiles and more.
Although this will take time to be fully realized, it also means that those people left holding dollars will be financial ruined as dollar purchasing power evaporates. The government response to all this is almost certain to include a new wave of mindless money printing, adding yet more dollar inventory to the flood of dollars being dumped by nations of the world. The end game is, of course, hyperinflation as the dollar loses not just 2% of its purchasing power per month, but may even slide into losing 10%, 20% or even more per month (in the final blowout stage). 1. Netanyahu's 'compensation plan' for Deri to be revealed in coming days - Israel National News
Minister Aryeh Deri has been holding intensive discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the last day following the Supreme Court decision to disqualify him from serving as a minister.
Channel 12 News reported that that Netanyahu and Deri's goal is to present a solution to the public even before the letter firing the Shas chairman from the government is published, most likely on Sunday, but there remain several gaps between their positions.
Deri, for his part, wants the position of 'alternate prime minister 'right now. He prefers not to go through a complicated legislative path in the Knesset. In his opinion, this is also a position that has immunity from criticism by the Supreme Court. (Read more)

2. ‘Deri cannot continue to serve’: Attorney-general orders Netanyahu to fire minister - World Israel News
Israel’s Attorney-general called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to fire Interior Minister Aryeh Deri a day after the Supreme Court disqualified him from government service.
“MK Deri cannot continue to serve as a minister in the Government of Israel,” Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara wrote in a letter to Netanyahu that was disclosed on Thursday. “You must act in line with the legal ruling and remove [Deri] from his roles in the government.”
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled 10-1 that Deri, leader of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, cannot continue to serve as minister. (Read more)

3. Netanyahu: US a ‘trusted partner’ in promoting security, advancing peace - JNS
(January 19, 2023 / JNS) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Thursday in Jerusalem with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, the highest-level Biden administration official to visit Israel since the Nov. 1 Knesset election.
The two men discussed Iran’s nuclear program and ways to broaden the Trump administration-brokered Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between the Jewish state and four Arab countries.
An emphasis was placed on expanding relations with Saudi Arabia.
“I’ve known President [Joe] Biden for 40 years as a great friend of Israel, and I know how much he trusts you in the matters of national security,” Netanyahu told Sullivan, adding, “And you should know that we see you as a trusted partner in matters of our shared security and of course, advancing peace. 4. Public health system to strike next week over violence against medical staff - Times of Israel
Staff at public hospitals and clinics will go on strike next Monday in response to a string of violent incidents against medical workers, the doctor’s union announced Thursday.
The announcement came after police arrested a 17-year-old patient at a women’s health center in Ramle who was suspected of attacking a doctor with brass knuckles and kicking him in the head. The doctor required medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The Israel Medical Association said hospitals and clinics will operate on a weekend schedule for all of Monday, offering reduced services. The association will operate a committee to decide on special individual cases.
“A strike is never the default choice for us,” said Prof. Zion Hagay, the association’s chairman. “But the violence in the health system turned into an epidemic some time ago, and almost every day red lines are crossed. On Monday, doctors say no to violence, no to lawlessness.” (Read more)

5. Archeologists Find Ancient Hebrew Coin Dated to Jewish Rebellion Against Rome: ‘Year Two of the Freedom of Israel’ - Algemeiner
An ancient Hebrew coin minted during a Jewish rebellion against Roman rule in Judea has been found during an excavation of caves by the Dead Sea, the Israel Antiquities Authority recently announced.
The bronze coin was discovered at the Nahal Darga Nature Reserve. It is dated to the second year of the Bar Kokhba revolt, a failed Jewish uprising against Roman rule in Judea that broke out in 132 CE, following Roman repression of Jewish practice. The rebellion lasted until 135 CE, ending with the widespread killing and enslavement of the Jewish population, their exile from Jerusalem, and the renaming of the province of Judea to Syria Palaestina.
One side of the coin includes a depiction of a date palm with the name “Shimon” in ancient Hebrew, an apparent reference to Shimon Bar Kokhba, the leader of the eponymous revolt. The other side features a vine leaf with a surrounding inscription reading, “Year Two of the Freedom of Israel.” (Read more)

If you've been paying attention for the past five or six years – and we know you have been – you've probably noticed the inverted nature of modern language. 4. Central Banks will Begin Using Digital Currency and it Won’t Matter Whether People are Ready for it – NewsTarget
A report published this week says that whether or not countries are ready for digital currencies or even understand the concept behind them, central banks are going to begin using them soon either way, and there isn’t much that can be done about it.
The Wall Street Journal‘s report touched on the issue of complexity, noting that digital currency is a “game-changing development [that] could have a profound impact on the banking system” despite the fact that “few people still understand it.”
The outlet noted:
“Central-bank digital currency” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. But you might want to get used to saying it. These so-called CBDCs, or digital versions of dollars, yuan, euros, yen or any other currency, are coming, say those who study them. And depending on how they are designed and rolled out, their impact on the banking system could be profound.
“One hundred and fourteen countries are exploring digital currencies, and their collective economies represent more than 95% of the world’s GDP, according to the Atlantic Council’s Central Bank Digital Currency tracker,” the WSJ reported. “Some countries, including China, India, Nigeria and the Bahamas, have already rolled out digital currencies. Others, like Sweden and Japan, are preparing for possible rollouts. The government and Big Pharma companies are planning to taint the nation’s food supply, specifically by injecting animals with mRNA vaccines.

8. Media Admits We are Facing the “Worst Food Crisis in Modern History” – Prophecy Newswatch
People on the other side of the planet are dropping dead from starvation right now, but most people don't even realize that this is happening. Unfortunately, most people just assume that everything is fine and dandy. If you are one of those people that believe that everything is just wonderful, I would encourage you to pay close attention to the details that I am about to share with you.
Global hunger is rapidly spreading, and that is because global food supplies have been getting tighter and tighter. If current trends continue, we could potentially be facing a nightmare scenario before this calendar year is over.
Pakistan is not one of the poorest nations in the world, but the lack of affordable food is starting to cause panic inside that country. The following comes from Time Magazine...
Last Saturday in Mirpur Khas, a city in Pakistan's Sindh province, hundreds of people lined up for hours outside a park to buy subsidized wheat flour, offered for 65 rupees a kilogram instead of the current, inflated rate of about 140 to 160 rupees. When a few trucks arrived, the crowd surged forward, leaving several injured. One man, Harsingh Kolhi, who was there to bring a five kg bag of flour home for his wife and children, was crushed and killed in the chaos.
We are seeing similar things happen all over the planet. Just because you still may have enough food to eat doesn't mean that everybody else is okay.
In fact, things have already gotten so bad that even CNN is admitting that we are facing "the worst food crisis in modern history"...

9. The Great Dropout: Why 1.4 Million Children Left Public Schools and Where They Went – The Epoch Times
Over a million children left public schools in 2020, a migration that came on the heels of school lockdowns and masking requirements, and was hastened by increased parental dissatisfaction with K-12 education.
Enrollment in U.S. public schools declined by 1.4 million students between fall 2019 and fall 2020, dipping to 49.4 million, a loss of nearly 3 percent, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).The decline may be closer to 2 million, according to a report by Education Next showing that traditional public school enrollment as a percentage of all school enrollment declined sharply between 2020 and 2022.
In many cases, the disruption in learning due to COVID-19 policies was the catalyst many parents needed to make the jump away from public schools to charter schools, private schools, and homeschooling. Based on recent enrollment figures and the comfort many parents express with their decision to opt out of public schools, it appears the missing millions will not return.
Dissatisfaction With Learning
Parent satisfaction with K-12 education plunged between 2019 and 2022, according to GALLUP. Prior to the onset of COVID-19, 51 percent of parents said they were either completely or somewhat satisfied with their child’s education. Three years later, that satisfaction level was 42 percent, the lowest in over 20 years. (Read more)

We give you thanks and praise for providing old, new and different alternatives for parents who were looking for a better match between their children's educational needs and the ways these can be met. Thank you for Charter Schools, Private Schools and HomeSchool Associations that open new directions in how our kids are taught and can learn. You created us as unique persons, thank you that these new pathways allow our children's uniqueness to be explored and grown within safe, constructive and educational environments. 10. Russia’s Lavrov says West seeking Hitler-style ‘final solution,’ sparking protests - Times of Israel
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the US and Europe on Wednesday of seeking a “final solution” to “the Russia question” comparable to Adolf Hitler’s plan to wipe out the Jews in World War II, drawing anger from Israel, Germany and some of Moscow’s other Western adversaries.
“Just as Napoleon mobilized practically all of Europe against the Russian Empire, just as Hitler mobilized and captured… the majority of European countries and sent them against the Soviet Union, now the United States has organized a coalition,” Lavrov said at an annual press conference.
Western countries, he said, are “by proxy through Ukraine waging war against our country.” (Read more)

11. US Congressman seriously injured after falling 25 feet off ladder with chainsaw - MSN.com
Representative Greg Steube, who represents Florida’s 17th congressional district in the House of Representatives, was hospitalized with ‘several serious injuries’ after the incident on Wednesday.
Steube was trimming the limbs of a tree next to his home in Sarasota when he was knocked off a ladder by falling branch, his staff said in a statement. He fell approximately 25 feet to the ground.
He was found by a driver who was delivering a package to a home next door, ABC7 reported. The delivery driver told the local station he was the one to call 911. According to the driver, Steube was holding a chainsaw when he plunged from the ladder. The witness said he appeared to have several bruises on his back, as well as an injury to his leg.
‘We are thankful to the individual who witnessed the fall and immediately called 911, as well as Sarasota County’s Emergency Services for their quick response and transportation,’ Steube’s staff stated on the congressman’s Twitter account.
Steube was hospitalized and spent the night in the intensive care unit, his staff said on Thursday morning. They did not elaborate on his injuries, but said there were ‘several serious injuries are still under assessment but not life threatening at this time.' (Read more)

The World Economic Forum (WEF), holding its annual meeting this week, has turned many doctors into unwitting social credit spies by recording information about you that will impact your personal freedom. The WEF is in “collective cooperation” with the World Health Organization (WHO), which sets the mandated standards for healthcare treatment, as recently witnessed by the COVID pandemic. WHO directs the Centers for Disease Control, which directs US healthcare. These have standard codes that track your healthcare and doctors don’t get paid unless they use them. Now there is a code if you refused COVID vaccination. This exemplifies how the end time Beast system will bring all under its authority.
WEF uses altruistic words and images to promote its vision of “transforming” the world economy to the benefit of all. WEF’s three areas of focus are healthcare, climate change and technology. In “collective cooperation” with governments, private industry, media and nonprofits, WEF’s goal is to control and track your money, your energy consumption, your healthcare, and even what you eat. This is classic Marxism to create a tyrannical “utopian” society monitoring every person for compliance. Using technology, such as the International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes database, it can be determined whether you are a compliant world citizen or if you need some assistance in doing so. Orion Manikins Return from Artemis I Mission

After a 25-day flight beyond the Moon and back inside the Artemis I Orion crew module, two manikins undergo post-flight payload inspections inside the Space Station Processing Facility at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Jan. 11, 2023. As part of the Matroshka AstroRad Radiation Experiment (MARE) investigation, the two female manikins – Helga and Zohar – were equipped with radiation detectors. Zohar also wore a radiation protection vest, to determine the radiation risk during the Artemis I mission and potentially reduce exposure during future missions with astronauts. The detectors will be removed at Kennedy and the torsos will return to teams at the German Space Agency for further analysis. Artemis I Orion launched atop the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from Kennedy’s Launch Complex 39B on Nov. 16, 2022, at 1:47 a.m. EST. During the flight, Orion flew farther than any spacecraft built for humans has ever flown, paving the way for human deep space exploration and demonstrating NASA’s commitment and capability to extend human presence to the Moon and beyond. A man of dignity, strength, and courage, Dr. King brought a heroic sense of hope to the dream of an America in which people would overcome strife and live together in harmony. The gifted orator worked to end the evils of segregation, racism, and prejudice so that equality could be the final word. Decades after his 1968 assassination, his legacy lives on in the hearts of all those who work for justice and peace.
As Dr. King once stated, “With patient and firm determination we will press on until every valley of despair is exalted to new peaks of hope, until every mountain of pride and irrationality is made low by the leveling process of humility and compassion; until the rough places of injustice are transformed into a smooth plane of equality and opportunity; and until the crooked places of prejudice are transformed by the straightening process of bright-eyed wisdom.” His niece, Dr. Alveda King, has carried on the crusade for justice—most particularly and passionately for African-American children in their mothers’ wombs.
At an event at Liberty University, Alveda shared how her own mother considered aborting her, but was persuaded against it by her grandfather. In this way, Alveda herself was “born into” the pro-life movement. Sadly, Alveda suffered the tragedy of abortion in her own life. But she ultimately became a strong voice for the sanctity of innocent human life, recognizing the scientific fact that a pre-born baby is a separate human being, deserving of compassion and care.
