A SPECIAL CALL TO FAST!
Because the Santa Ana winds will pick up today (Tuesday) in southern California and last for three days, and because we know that fasting WORKS, I am calling for a 3 day FAST for all CHPP prayer warriors beginning today through Thursday this week.
Please ask our Lord how He would guide you to enter into this time of fasting.
We are asking our Lord to please CALM THE WINDS so the firefighters can get
ahead of these fires, begin to quench them, and not allow them to spread.
> > > We are standing on the PROMISE of His Word. It is written:
“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)

Chateau Marmont, Sunset Tower Offer Refuge to Firefighters and Angelenos Amid L.A. Fires
|
|
Chateau Marmont and Sunset Tower - known to play host star-studded dinners and awards show parties - are joining relief efforts to support firefighters and displaced Angelenos amid the Los Angeles wildfires.
In an Instagram post on Saturday afternoon, Chateau Marmont announced that it would open its private cottages - which start at $1,165 per night and surround a lush landscaped courtyard adjacent to the hotel's pool - for the next week to "firefighters and members of the unions representing our city's creative industries." (The hotel in 2022 ratified a landmark union contract that included a 25 percent wage increase for returning non-tipped workers, free family health insurance for those who work at least 60 hours per month and free legal services for immigration, consumer and tenant issues, to name a few.)
"To the heros [sic] and victims in the Hollywood community who've lost their homes… We'd like to invite you to our safe haven. For the next week, we're making our cottages available for complimentary two-night stays," wrote the Andrés Balasz-owned destination. The spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who call the hotel's phone number.
Built in the 1930s, the nine "cozy Craftsman-style cottages [are] grouped around a landscaped courtyard adjacent to the pool accessible through a private street entrance," per Chateau's website. The options include 600- to 700-square-foot options that house a master suite, kitchen, full bath and a "nicely sized living area with hardwood floors." The standalone abodes were purchased by Chateau Marmont in the 1940s.
A stone's throw down the boulevard, Sunset Tower is also taking in evacuees and those who have lost their homes in the Palisades and Eaton fires. (Hollywood Reporter) Read more here.

13 Trump Appointees Face Confirmation Hearings This Week
|
|
The back-to-back hearings are likely to prove the first major test of Trump’s second term in office as Republicans grapple with a slim majority in the Senate.
|
|
More than a dozen of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees will face confirmation hearings in the Senate this week.
The back-to-back Senate hearings are likely to prove the first major test of Trump’s second term in office, as some of the president-elect’s selections have stoked controversy on both sides of the aisle in recent months.
The Republican Party currently maintains a slim majority in the Senate of 53 to 45 Democrats and two independents who caucus with Democrats. As such, the ability of the Republican majority to push through Trump’s nominees will provide a key read of just how far his influence on the party extends.
A failure to secure nominations for some key positions, such as secretary of defense, could likewise hamstring the first weeks of Trump’s second term in office by limiting the president-elect’s ability to carry out sweeping institutional changes in government.
The 13 Trump administration appointees facing confirmation hearings in the coming week include the following: (Go here)
|
|
- Lord, we pray over these confirmations, that they would go smoothly. We break and cancel all hindrances, in Jesus' name. We pray that all those serving in this upcoming administration are loyal to you, to the Constitution, and to the constituents that they serve. And we pray, Lord God, that they would be bold and firm in their decision making, saying "no" to bribes and saying "no" to evil, in Jesus name.
- “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” (Proverbs 10:9)

24 Dead as Firefighters Race to Contain Los Angeles Wildfires; High Winds Expected to Return
|
|
Firefighters have made progress in containing fires as authorities report 24 dead, 16 missing, and 12,000 structures burned.
Firefighters are racing to contain wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area as forecasters warn of the return of strong winds this week. Sixteen people are reported missing and at least 24 have been confirmed dead, officials said.
More than 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the wildfires, and the threat of further destruction remains high, officials said.
Coupled with low humidity, officials expect high winds to sweep through the region in the coming days, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, according to Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley. Authorities instituted a red flag warning until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with the strongest winds expected to occur on Tuesday.
“These wind events are coming into Los Angeles,” Crowley said at a Sunday press conference. “Every available LAFD firefighter is on hand and will remain in place through this wind event. Additionally, firefighters continue to pour into the Southern California region to bolster our firefighting capabilities.”
The city is prepared for the high winds, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said at the briefing.

FBI Director Wray reveals why he is resigning during ‘such a dangerous time’
|
|
FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed why he decided to resign "during such a dangerous time" and with nearly three years left to go in his term during an interview on CBS’ "60 Minutes" Sunday.
"If it’s such a dangerous time, why resign?" asked host Scott Pelley.
Wray, 58, had just been outlining the United States' greatest threats from communist China’s ability to attack critical US infrastructure to domestic terrorists like New Orleans attacker Shamsud-Din Jabbar who became radicalized "not in years, but in weeks."
"My decision to retire from the FBI was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make," Wray responded.
The outgoing FBI boss said that while he cares deeply about the FBI and "our people," his decision to leave after having only served seven years of his ten-year term was motivated by President-elect Donald Trump’s stated desire for a change in leadership at the bureau. Wray announced he was leaving his post in December.
"President-elect had made clear that he intended to make a change… my conclusion was that the thing that was best for the bureau was to do this in an orderly way. To not thrust the bureau deeper into the fray," Wray said. (Fox News) Read more here.

|
- Lord we lift up the FBI to you and even though it looks like a lost cause we know you can restore anything. So we pray, Lord, that this agency would have the fear of the Lord and return to serving the American public. We pray too, Lord, that you would lead and guide all employees to do what is right in your eyes and that whoever takes over would lead with integrity, in Jesus name. Amen.
- And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’” (Job 28:28)

2. Israeli officials say hostage-ceasefire deal is close, awaiting final Hamas approval - Times of Israel
Multiple reports Monday indicated that talks in Qatar for a ceasefire-hostage deal in Gaza had achieved a significant breakthrough overnight, with Israeli officials speaking to several Hebrew media outlets saying an agreement could be close.
Speaking to Reuters on Monday morning, an unnamed official briefed on the negotiations said Doha had handed both parties a “final” draft of the agreement, following a breakthrough in the early hours of the morning in talks between Israel’s negotiating team, Qatar’s prime minister, and US President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, who recently joined the negotiations.
In a follow-up report later in the day, an Israeli official told Reuters that Jerusalem had yet to receive a draft proposal from Qatar. But Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the draft was received by Israel overnight and that it was broadly acceptable to Israel. It said the draft had been approved by Hamas leaders abroad, and “everything” now depended on the agreement of Muhammad Sinwar, Hamas’s de facto leader in Gaza. (Read more)

3. 33 hostages to be released in 1st stage of emerging hostage deal
- Israel National News
A political source detailed the details of the hostage deal that is taking shape in a conversation with Arutz Sheva on Monday evening, and explained where the talks with Hamas stand.
He noted that "there is progress in all components of the agreement formula, advanced stages of negotiations," but emphasized that "there are still no final agreements."
According to the current outline, while the first phase of the deal is being implemented, discussions will begin on the release of the remaining hostages and bodies held by Hamas. The ceasefire is currently set to last 42 days.
The details indicate that the first phase of the deal will include the release of 33 hostages under the "humanitarian" category, including all the captive female soldiers, women, and men over the age of 50. In addition, men who are extremely ill may be released as well even if they are under the age of 50. (Read more)

4. Israel will not release Nukhba terrorists in possible Gaza hostage deal - diplomatic source - Jerusalem Post
Israel will not release any Hamas terrorist belonging to the Nukhba forces, which took part in the October 7 massacre of southern Israel, as part of a possible hostage deal, diplomatic sources told The Jerusalem Post on Monday evening.
The list of terrorists expected to be released from Israeli prisons as part of the deal's first phase does include some sentenced to life, the source added. However, none are part of the Nukhba forces that carried out the October 7 attacks.
In addition, none of the 33 hostages expected to be released in the first phase of a possible deal are confirmed to be dead as of Monday, as per the diplomatic source.
Israel is expected to retain "territorial assets," which could include the Philadelphi Corridor and an undefined security perimeter, as reported by the Post's Yonah Jeremy Bob.

5. Hundreds, including hostage families, block Jerusalem entrance in protest of reported deal - JNS
Hundreds of Israelis, including family members of captives held by Hamas and of slain soldiers, blocked the main entrance to Jerusalem on Monday evening, protesting against the emerging terms of the hostages-for-ceasefire-and-terrorists-release deal with the Islamist organization.
Protesters, led by the Tikva Forum for Families of Hostages and the Heroism Forum, which represents families of soldiers and security personnel who died in the Swords of Iron war, gathered near where Route 1 from Tel Aviv enters the capital, under the slogans, “We don’t want a deal; we want to subdue [Hamas]” and “You have no mandate to surrender.”
Ditza Or, whose son Avinatan, 31, was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023, along with his girlfriend, Noa Argamani, 27, who was freed in a rescue raid in June, slammed the reported terms of the deal as “shameful” in a statement cited by Ynet on Monday evening.
Or noted that “most of the hostages—including my son—will be left behind,” adding, “This is a deal that is selective.” (Read more)

1. 11 companies that are scaling back DEI, LGBT advocacy - Christian Post
Pushback against the concept of diversity, equity and inclusion has led several major companies to cease efforts to embrace the progressive ideology that encourages a focus on race, gender and sexual orientation in hiring practices and business relationships in the workforce.
The trend began last summer when Tractor Supply Co., a major retailer in the United States, announced it was working to "eliminate DEI roles and retire our current DEI goals while still ensuring a respectful environment," in addition to vowing to "no longer submit data to the Human Rights Campaign," an LGBT activist organization.
The move by Tractor Supply followed an effort by conservative influencer Robby Starbuck to boycott the chain over its "DEI council" and "DEI hiring practices," as well as its support of other progressive priorities.
Specifically, Starbuck urged Tractor Supply customers to contact the retailer's leadership to express opposition to its embrace of "LGBTQIA+ events at work" and "LGBTQIA+ training for employees," funding "pride/drag events" and "sex changes" for its employees, engagement in "climate change activism" and display of "pride month decorations in the office."
In response to the backlash, Tractor Supply said it had "taken this feedback to heart" and would work to better "represent the values of the communities and customers we serve." (Read more)

3. A TikTok Ban Seems More Likely After The Supreme Court Weighs Arguments For And Against - Forbes
A TikTok ban might be one step closer to reality even if there are still some lingering doubts about whether a federal law will really go into effect on January 19.
This week, the Supreme Court heard arguments for and against banning the app, which has come under fire in recent months due to the Chinese parent company, ByteDance, possibly influencing Americans and collecting data that could be used against them.
During the legal arguments, Chief Justice John Roberts noted that free expression does not apply in this case, since the app could be used for coercion. He stated that Congress advocates for free expression but “is not fine with a foreign adversary, as they’ve determined it is, gathering all this information about the 170 million people who use TikTok.”
In another exchange with lawyers presenting arguments, Justice Elena Kagan said “the law is only targeted at this foreign corporation, which doesn’t have First Amendment rights.”
The general tone of the proceedings showed a clear bent toward a final Supreme Court ruling that would ban the app in the United States. That ruling could come within a few days. (Read more)

Thank you, Lord, that this ban against TikTok seems to be more likely in the coming months. May we take heed to the warning that this company owned by China has been collecting data on the 170 million people who use Tik Tok.

4. Meta cutting DEI team, programs in broad shift - The Hill
Meta told employees Friday it will cut its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) team and roll back several related programs, marking another major shift in policy for the leading social media company.
The move is the latest signal Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, is aligning itself with the incoming Trump administration, which is widely expected to roll back several DEI programs
In an internal memo sent to employees Friday, Meta pointed to the “changing” “legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the United States” to explain the changes.
The memo was first reported by Axios. Meta later confirmed the information to The Hill.
“The Supreme Court of the United States has recently made decisions signaling a shift in how courts will approach DEI,” Meta Vice President of Human Resources Janelle Gale wrote in the document. “It reaffirms longstanding principles that discrimination should not be tolerated or promoted on the basis of inherent characteristics.” (Read more)

5. X-class solar flares hit a new record in 2024 and could spike further this year — but the sun isn't entirely to blame, experts say - Live Science
The number of X-class solar flares — the most powerful and potentially dangerous class of solar eruption — hit a new record high in 2024. The spike highlights that we are currently experiencing a surprisingly active solar maximum, which could continue to intensify this year.
But solar activity may not be the only reason the number of supercharged solar explosions skyrocketed last year, experts told Live Science.
There were a total of 54 X-class flares in 2024, according to SpaceWeatherLive.com, which maintains the oldest and most accurate publicly available dataset on solar flares. That is the highest total since at least 1996, when this dataset began. NASA has been tracking solar flare activity since the mid-1970s, but earlier data has not been made publicly available and is less reliable than modern records. (Read more)

7. Iran orders mass evacuation near nuclear reactor - Israel Hayom
Iranian authorities issued an urgent evacuation order today Wednesday affecting civilian populations residing within a 3.1-mile radius of the Bushehr nuclear reactor, one of the nation's most sensitive nuclear installations.
According to reports from the Iranian news agency IRNA, the spokesperson for the Bushehr region announced that all facility personnel and civilian residents in the reactor zone, particularly emphasizing foreign nationals, must evacuate the designated area immediately. The evacuation order extends to four residential neighborhoods adjacent to the power station.
The Bushehr nuclear reactor stands as Iran's sole nuclear power facility, providing electrical power to vast regions throughout southern Iran. Previously, international observers raised concerns about Iran potentially utilizing the nuclear facility as a component of its military nuclear program.
In a related development, Nasratolah Saif, deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guard's Basij militia, revealed that the organization will implement "security patrols" across various regions of the country to safeguard sensitive sites against potential foreign intervention. Speaking to the Tasnim news agency, Saif indicated that enhanced drills and surveillance operations are planned throughout all regions of the country. (Read more)

Lord we just pray that You would reveal plans of Iran regarding this nuclear reactor and how they plan to use it. Protect us against any evil actions that Iran may implement. Restrain them from acting on any nuclear intentions.

Redemption
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, January 13, 2025
Christ followers understand that Christ redeemed us with his blood when he died on the cross. As is written in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Yet redemption is not just a New Testament concept. The foreshadow of redemption is found as early as the Genesis account of Joseph as a type and shadow of Christ. The last Torah portion reading in Genesis is titled “Vayichi,” which is Hebrew for “He Lived.” The first chapter of Genesis began with God creating life and the final chapter provides us with an object lesson about the promise of redemption. Our chapter is never final because we live.
In Genesis 50 we see that Joseph’s brothers apparently had not truly believed that Joseph had forgiven them for selling him into slavery. After Jacob’s death, they devised a plan to tell Joseph that Jacob had given an order for Joseph to forgive his brothers and not hold their crime against them. There is nothing recorded in scripture that Jacob even knew of his son’s betrayal of Joseph. When Joseph heard this he wept and said to his brothers in Genesis 50:19, “Don’t be afraid! Am I in the place of God? You meant to do me harm, but God meant it for good—so that it would come about as it is today, with many people’s lives being saved.” Joseph not only had forgiven his brothers, but had also redeemed them because of their repentance. What a beautiful picture of Christ Jesus— His forgiveness and redemption of his brethren! Read More

Trump to issue 100 executive orders on first day
|
|
|
Donald Trump is returning to old policies: focusing on the US-Mexico border and reversing Biden's policies. Plans include mass deportations and completing the border wall, with $100 billion earmarked for the initiatives.
|
|
US President-elect Donald Trump is set to issue more than 100 executive orders on the first day of his presidency, January 20, according to a report from the AP news agency overnight between Saturday and Sunday. The executive orders will focus on border security, mass deportations, and other political priorities, aiming to signal immediate change and reflect the priorities of his upcoming administration.
According to the report, Trump briefed Republican senators in a private meeting on plans that include completing the construction of the wall along the US-Mexico border, establishing detention centers for undocumented immigrants, and carrying out widespread deportations of those without legal residency. Senior advisor Stephen Miller presented the senators with the immediate steps to be taken. Among the measures, there will be a return to policies from Trump's first term, such as requiring asylum seekers to file their applications in other countries and wait outside US borders while their requests are processed.
The measures are expected to overturn numerous orders issued by the Biden administration, replacing them with directives that will bolster border enforcement. Senator James Lankford noted that the initial focus would be on deporting roughly one million migrants who recently entered the US, have been convicted of crimes, or have received court orders to leave the country.
On Inauguration Day, Trump is also expected to sign formal documents appointing new members of his administration, while the Senate will hold hearings and approve candidates for senior positions. Some appointments may be confirmed that same day, in keeping with the tradition of inaugurating new presidents. Senate Majority Leader John Thune noted that some candidates are still awaiting background checks and formal documentation, but the Senate is preparing to act quickly.
To implement these plans, Trump is preparing sweeping budgetary measures, totaling approximately $100 billion, as part of a funding package to support steps related to border security and immigration. Republican senators are gearing up to assist Trump in executing these measures on his very first day in office. (Israel Hayom) Read more here.

Senate to Vote on Pro-Life Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act Before March for Life
|
|
|
As pro-life Christians make a pilgrimage to the nation’s capital later this month for the third annual March for Life after the repeal of Roe v. Wade, they may have something new to celebrate.
The U.S. Senate plans to vote on a bill to assure unborn babies who are born during botched abortions receive potentially lifesaving medical care.
“As thousands of pro-life Americans come to Washington for the 52nd Annual March for Life, we’ll take up the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,” announced Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) during a floor speech on Wednesday. “This vote will ask Democrats to answer whether a living baby born after an attempted abortion should be provided with medical care or be left to die. It shouldn’t be a hard question.”
Thune previously introduced the humane care act with Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.), the newly-elected Republican Conference vice chair, who will also reintroduce the measure in the 119th Congress. The bill passed the House in January 2023 by a near-party-line vote of 220-210. Only one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted in favor.
On Wednesday, Thune described the bill as a “commonsense measure.”
Pro-life leaders praised the Senate leaders’ pro-active stance. “This act is desperately needed to ensure that every born child in America is treated with dignity and respect. It is legislation that every American should be appalled we do not already have,” Mary Szoch, director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council, told The Washington Stand.
“Currently, 35 states have at least some protections for babies born alive after an abortion. Unfortunately, only 19 states require that the newborn be immediately transferred to a hospital, that a health care practitioner renders the same care to a child born alive after an abortion to any other child born alive at the same gestational age, and that any failure to comply be reported,” Szoch continued. “All three of these are requirements in the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.”
Szoch documented that at least 277 babies have been born alive during an abortion in the United States — but the actual number is likely far higher than those reported.
“Perhaps, they were given the medical treatment every child deserves, but considering the only ‘doctor’ present is the abortionist who was just moments before trying to kill the newborn, it is far more likely these babies are simply left to die or actively killed,” Szoch told TWS. “No one will ever know what happened to them.” (The Stand) Read more here.

Heavenly Father, You are the Author of life. You intended for the government to protect the innocent. So we pray for all these senators that they would rise up with boldness to protect life, in Jesus' name. We look to You as we attempt to change minds, hearts, and laws. Give us wisdom and boldness and let us fear You alone.

hold back those staggering toward slaughter.”

Earth's next big volcano eruption will 'cause global chaos' because there is no plan
|
|
The volcano eruption at Mount Tambora in 1815, which is in present-day Indonesia, brought with it a climate chill so severe that it ruined harvests and took countless lives. Ash filled the sky, sunlight faded, and global temperatures plunged for months on end.
Today, experts say a large volcanic explosion of similar, or even bigger size, might strike again. This time, because we live in a warmer world, the global aftermath will likely be much worse.
Volcano eruptions in modern times
In 1816, intense cold created what some called a year without a summer. Crops withered, people starved, and entire communities faced desperate conditions. That moment in history stands out because it reveals how far-reaching a single event can be.
Modern civilization seems stronger, but the planet’s population has grown to more than eight billion, and climate change has warmed the Earth. We are no longer dealing with the same environment that Mount Tambora affected two centuries ago.
