Vote on abolishing IRS was part of deal between Speaker McCarthy and House Freedom Caucus

Republicans in the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), eliminate the national income tax, and replace it with a national consumption tax.
Fox News Digital has learned that the House will be voting on Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter's reintroduced Fair Tax Act that aims to reel in the IRS and remove the national income tax, as well as other taxes, and replace them with a single consumption tax.
The vote on the bill was made as part of the deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and members of the House Freedom Caucus and was pushed forward in his quest for the gavel.
"Cosponsoring this Georgia-made legislation was my first act as a Member of Congress and is, fittingly, the first bill I am introducing in the 118th Congress," Carter said in a press release exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.
"Instead of adding 87,000 new agents to weaponize the IRS against small business owners and middle America, this bill will eliminate the need for the department entirely by simplifying the tax code with provisions that work for the American people and encourage growth and innovation," Carter continued.
"Armed, unelected bureaucrats should not have more power over your paycheck than you do," he added. (Fox News) Read more.

Today marks the start of a transformative shift in our country, made possible by the 20 who fought to deliver foundational change to Congress.
Let me be clear. This is a historic conservative win that will be looked back on in history as what set the elite political establishment in D.C. on its heels.
Many of you whom I represent have called in or written me messages asking how they can trust that this transformative change will actually happen. Here are the highlights:
• Allow Conservatives to have influence and involvement in what bills come to the floor. For the first time in almost 60 years, House conservatives will now have the power to bring bills and amendments to the floor. This is a massive win. Without it, conservative bills would continue to be stopped before they reach the floor, shut down by the establishment status quo.
• Ability to remove Speaker McCarthy. With the Jeffersonian motion to vacate the chair, any single Member – at any time and any place – can make a motion to remove Speaker McCarthy if he goes back on his word or policy agenda. Many of you have voiced to me your concern about if McCarthy will remain true to the promises laid out in the deal. This motion is the check on his word, and we have it in writing. If the deal is not held to, we will vote to remove him.
• Swift action to stop and hold malicious government bureaucrats accountable. We will make aggressive use of the Church-style committee to investigate the persecution that the FBI and other agencies have unleashed against the American people. The weaponization of the federal government against Americans will not be tolerated and we will pursue swift action to stop it.
• Holding Members of Congress accountable with a Term Limit Vote, Single Subject Bills that can’t be loaded with irrelevant nonsense and woke policies, and making sure Members take 72 hours to read a bill instead of forcing a vote on huge spending bills that hide anti-American provisions.
• Committing the House to balance the budget in 10 years, stopping the increase on the debt ceiling, holding the Senate accountable, and forcing Congress to cut its wasteful spending addiction that hurts Americans.
• A Texas border plan so that we once and for all commit to stopping the crisis at our Southern border.
• Ending all COVID mandates and funding.
What you saw this week was a Congress that finally did its job, due to the 20 Members who said, “enough is enough.” America needed and was owed this debate. Congress must fundamentally change if we want any following fight to matter. That’s what we did this week and we’re just getting started.

Lord, please give to every representative who has been voted Into office the courage to serve the citizens of this country with strength and fortitude and to stand on Your Word. Thank you. It has begun. House conservatives will, for the 1st time in 60 years, have influence and involvement in what bills come to the floor.
Lord, you have allowed us action to hold malicious government bureaucrats accountable for their actions and so much more.
Father, we thank you for the Authority of the Word of G-D and how You have chosen to place Your Authority in us as believers in Jesus Christ, you’re only Begotten Son. It is in Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

House Republican files articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Mayorkas
|
|
A House Republican has filed articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, following through with a promise several GOP lawmakers made before taking control of the lower chamber earlier this month.
Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX) introduced the articles of impeachment in the House on Monday, accusing Mayorkas of committing high crimes and misdemeanors. The articles have been referred to the House Judiciary Committee for further action.
GOP leaders such as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) have long vowed to open impeachment inquiries into the DHS secretary, targeting him for his handling of the southern border. The House Judiciary Committee notified Mayorkas late last year it would seek his testimony early into the next Congress, as well as the testimony of 10 other DHS officials. (Read more)

1. Coalition MK calls for arrest of ‘treasonous’ opposition heads Lapid, Gantz - Times of Israel
A lawmaker from Itamar Ben Gvir’s extreme-right Otzma Yehudit party called Tuesday afternoon for the arrest of opposition leaders and two former MKs, accusing them of “treason against the state” and saying they “are the most dangerous people right now,” sparking widespread condemnation among the center-left and also, later Tuesday, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
MK Zvika Fogel, a retired brigadier general in the Israel Defense Forces, made the remarks in an interview with the Kan public broadcaster, responding to comments by Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, National Unity party leader Benny Gantz and former MKs Yair Golan and Moshe Ya’alon against plans by the government to overhaul Israel’s judicial system.
“This is crazy. These four should be arrested. These are the most dangerous people right now,” he said. (Read more)

Opposition leader Yair Lapid said: "This is how democracy collapses, in one day. Ben-Gvir says that they will use water cannons against our demonstrators, MK Fogel says that Benny Gantz and I should be arrested and thrown in jail for treason because we spoke against the government and in Be'er Sheva they are trying to run over our students because they are demonstrating and using their right to freedom of expression."

Israel will combat any Iranian attempt to place military bases on its borders with Lebanon and Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said as he toured the North with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday.
"The main enemy we face is the terrorist regime in Iran and its entrenchment in Syria and Lebanon," Netanyahu said.
"We are determined to fight Iran's attempts to develop a nuclear arsenal... and any attempt by Iran to establish a base against us on our northern military border in Syria. (Read more)

The time has come for the US and Israel to formulate a common stand against Iran's nuclear weapons program, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday, as Strategic Affairs MinisterRon Dermer visited Washington.
"It's time to close ranks between Israel and the United States – and others,” Netanyahu said during a private video conference he held with the major pro-Israel group in Washington the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee.
"I look forward to discussing this issue with [US] President [Joe] Biden and his team. I think there is more of a meeting of the minds today than there has ever been" on the issue of Iran, Netanyahu added. (Read more)

5. Bill Re-Extending Israeli Laws to Citizens in Judea and Samaria Passes First Reading - Algemeiner
JNS.org – A bill seeking to apply Israeli criminal and various civil laws to communities located in Area C of Judea and Samaria passed its first reading in the Knesset on Tuesday.
The proposed legislation seeks to renew a set of “emergency” regulations enacted in the aftermath of the 1967 Six-Day War, meant to be reapproved every five years but which were last approved in 2017.
Israel’s previous government did not renew the regulations due to opposition from members of the coalition, specifically the left-wing Meretz and Islamist Ra’am parties.
However, they were automatically extended when the government fell in June, and remain in effect for three months after the date of the swearing-in of the new government. (Read more)

2. Classified documents at Biden think tank featured material on Iran, UK, and Ukraine - Washington Examiner
Classified documents that emerged at a Biden-aligned think tank last year reportedly featured intelligence on topics such as Iran, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
Ten documents were recovered at President Joe Biden's private office at the think tank last November dated from 2013 to 2016 and are believed to have originated from his days as vice president, sources told CNN. The documents that bore classified markings were mixed with private materials, such as Beau Biden’s funeral arrangements, per the report.
Biden's lawyers stumbled upon the material, which reportedly included "sensitive compartmented information," when clearing Biden's private office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, a foreign policy-bent think tank, on Nov. 2 of last year, about six days before the midterm elections. 3. Kevin McCarthy Confirms Plans to Strip Democrats Swalwell, Schiff, Omar of Committee Seats - Brietbart
McCarthy told the Associated Press on Monday he will stand by his pledge to expel these far-left Democrat House members from their committee seats due to their previous misconduct as members of Congress. To remove members from committees, House members must approve by a floor vote.
McCarthy told Breitbart News’s Matt Boyle that Schiff will be removed from committee assignments for his role in perpetrating the Russia hoax as the former chairman of the Intelligence Committee. Schiff was already set to rotate off of the intelligence committee.
Speaking with the AP, McCarthy stated Swalwell will be removed from committee seats for lying to the American public about his affair with Fang Fang, a longtime Chinese spy. Swalwell served on the Homeland Security and Judiciary committees in 2021-2022. (Read more)

4. US to start training Ukrainians on Patriot system on US soil next week - Fox News
U.S. armed forces will begin training up to 100 Ukrainian soldiers on the sophisticated Patriot missile system next week at Fort Sill, Okla., a defense official confirmed for Fox News Tuesday.
The training is expected to take several months, though it will still be an expedited process in comparison to roughly year-long program the Patriot missile system traditionally takes.
"The longer those troops are off the line – they're not actually engaged in combat – and so [the U.S. is] trying to work with Ukrainians to see what we can do to accelerate the training timeline," Pentagon spokesman Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters. (Read more)

5. US Navy halts Iranian smuggling vessel - Fox News
The U.S. Navy seized more than 2,000 assault rifles after halting a suspected smuggling vessel on its way from Iran to Yemen, the Navy announced Tuesday.
The USS Chinook deployed a boarding team to the vessel in the Gulf of Oman with support from the USS Monsoon and USS The Sullivans on Jan. 6, discovering a crew of Yemeni nationals. The U.S. confiscated 2,116 assault rifles and is in the process of repatriating the ship and its crew, according to a Navy statement.
"This shipment is part of a continued pattern of destabilizing activity from Iran," said Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces. "These threats have our attention. We remain vigilant in detecting any maritime activity that impedes freedom of navigation or compromises regional security." (Read more)

6. Biden, Obrador, Trudeau condemn riots in Brazil - The Hill
President Biden, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau jointly condemned the riots that broke out in Brazil on Sunday.
“Canada, Mexico, and the United States condemn the January 8 attacks on Brazil’s democracy and on the peaceful transfer of power. We stand with Brazil as it safeguards its democratic institutions,” the leaders said in a statement on Monday.
They added in the statement that their governments “support the free will of the people of Brazil” and that they all look forward to working with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Lula’s inauguration took place a week prior to Sunday’s riots.
Thousands of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters on Sunday stormed government offices, in a scene reminiscent of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. They entered the country’s Congress, Supreme Court and presidential palace to protest the results of the presidential election and hundreds have since been arrested. (Read more)

7. Report: China Exporting Weapons and Mercenaries to Africa - Brietbart
A report by the Rand Corporation on the growing influence of China and Russia in Africa found that Beijing is not far behind Moscow in exporting weapons and private military contractors to African nations, especially those participating in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The report, entitled Mapping Chinese and Russian Military and Security Exports to Africa, tracked Chinese weapons sales to 17 African nations, plus deployments of private military and security contractors (PMSCs) to 15 countries. Five of those nations also receive military support from Russia, including Angola, the Central African Republic (CAR), Ethiopia, Mali, and Sudan.
Some of those countries are noted for using their imported weapons with enthusiasm, including Ethiopia’s vicious civil war over the past two years, Mali’s conquest by a military junta in 2020, and Sudan’s long history of using military force against restless citizens. (Read more)

8. Pussycat Dolls singer shares abortion experiences, warns, 'You will regret it your whole life' - Fox News
Kaya Jones, a former singer for The Pussycat Dolls, said the abortions she had when she was younger still haunt her to this day. Jones told Christine Yeargin, host of Students for Life's "Speak Out" podcast, that she'd had three abortions before she turned her life around and started following Jesus Christ.
Jones described growing up in an "abusive" music industry that left her with little self-esteem and led her to make "poor choices." She said her third abortion happened after she was raped by an old boyfriend. Even though she wanted to keep the baby, she said she decided to terminate again due to stress and complications.
Jones said she was compelled by "the Holy Spirit" to share her story about abortion regret. “It is very painful. There is a lot of anger. There's a lot of frustration. There's a lot of lack of knowledge. There's a lot of regret. And nothing can make that go away but God himself when you lay it at his feet and ask for salvation," she said. (Read more)

9. Twitter Files #13: How Pfizer board member secretly urged Twitter to hide posts - DML News
Alex Berenson, an independent journalist who was banned from Twitter when he criticized the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and the government and academic response to the pandemic, has just released the next episode of the “Twitter Files.”
“In August 2021, Gottlieb told Todd O’Boyle – a senior manager in Twitter’s public policy department – that a tweet from @drgiroir claiming CORRECTLY that natural immunity was superior to vaccine immunity was “corrosive” and might “go viral.”
“Twitter put a misleading tag on the tweet, preventing it from being shared. Gottlieb then went after a tweet about Covid’s low risk to kids from @justin_hart. Pfizer would soon win the okay for its mRNA shots for children, so keeping parents scared was crucial…
In October 2022, @scottgottliebmd claimed on Twitter and CNBC that he was not trying to suppress debate on mRNA jabs. These files prove that Gottlieb – board member at a company that has made $70 billion on the shots – did just that. (Read more)

- Oh Lord God, this is heart-wrenching to know that truth, which would have saved lives, was hidden for the sake of financial gluttony or control. How many lives have been lost because of this coordinated operation that was used to silence voices of opposition, voices that questioned "research" and voices crying out with evidence of effective, life-saving treatments? Oh Holy King, we are most certainly seeing the effects of that evil action, in the brand new and unknown "sudden death syndrome". Father, we pray that the truth about these injections linked with the new syndrome will be shouted from the housetops and people will no longer allow fear to control them but will protect their children and loved ones. 10. Biden girds for congressional gridlock as GOP takes over House - Washington Examiner
Despite Biden's past legislative successes, bipartisan legislation will be almost "impossible" for the House to pass during the next two years, particularly after McCarthy's speakership impasse, according to Darrell West, Brookings Institution governance studies vice president and director.
"McCarthy gave away so many promises to GOP extremists that it will be difficult to keep his own party in line, let [alone] work out any compromises with Democrats," West told the Washington Examiner.
The White House has seized on the Republican division over defense spending, contending that “this push to defund our military in the name of politics is senseless and out of line with our national security needs.”
“There is bipartisan opposition to defense cuts because making us less capable of keeping the American people safe and advancing our national security interests would be a profound mistake that our nation cannot afford,” Biden spokesman Andrew Bates told reporters on Monday. (Read more)

The Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR) analysis of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID vaccines conducted by the Centers for Disease Control indicates literally hundreds of safety signals linked to the vaccines, including twice the proportion of adverse events and seven times that of death when compared with other vaccines. Notwithstanding, the same CDC continues to push the vaccines as safe and effective. The CDC refused to make the analysis public until it was forced by a Freedom of Information Act request from The Epoch Times. These revelations possibly coincide, maybe even confirm, the astronomical increase in excess deaths among otherwise healthy people, including sudden death syndrome in many adults.
The Epoch Times reports: “PRR involves comparing the incidence of a specific adverse event after a specific vaccine to the incidence after all other vaccines. A signal is triggered when three thresholds are met, according to the CDC: a PRR of at least two, a chi-squared statistic of at least four, and three or more cases of the event following receipt of the vaccine being analyzed. Chi-squared tests are a form of statistical analysis used to examine data. The results obtained by The Epoch Times show that there are hundreds of adverse events (AEs) that meet the definition, including serious conditions such as blood clotting in the lungs, intermenstrual bleeding, a lack of oxygen to the heart, and even death. Jim Jordan to chair 'Weaponization of Government' Select Committee

The 118th House of Representatives will see the formation of a new select committee, headed by Jim Jordan, to dig into the abuse of power and the Weaponization of Government. This investigative panel will demand emails and correspondence between the Biden administration and big tech companies, and follows the massive revelations that came to light through the recent release of the Twitter Files.
Newly minted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was elected to Speaker after a hard-fought, contentious battle on the House floor last week as power and priority struggles played out in his own party, was asked to form the committee as part of the negotiations that brought him to power, Axios reports. Jordan was one of the 15 members of Congress who nominated McCarthy for Speaker last week, just as many in his party nominated and voted for him.
"The probe into communications between tech giants and President Biden's aides will look for government pressure that could have resulted in censorship or harassment of conservatives — or squelching of debate on polarizing policies, including the CDC on COVID," Axios reports.
If government personnel and agencies do not comply, subpoenas are likely to be issued, per a GOP source. The GOP is committed to digging into "the politicization of the FBI," which not only includes the work done to discredit accurate reporting from the New York Post in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, but the allegations of Russian election interference in the lead-up to the 2016 election.
The use of Biden's Department of Justice to go after parents who spoke out angrily at school board meetings will be investigated as well. Ohio's Jordan was instrumental in the discovery that the letter requesting a DOJ investigation into these parents, issued by the National School Boards Association, was actually requested to be written by Merrick Garland's DOJ in the first place. The head of the NSBA was then given a plum post in the administration.
Biden's Covid czar Dr. Anthony Fauci will also be a focus of this new GOP investigation. The Twitter Files revealed that social media companies were pressured to toe the Democratic Party line on Covid and Covid treatments.
The concerns over parents speaking out began when a man attended a school board meeting in Loudon County, Virginia, to speak against the school board and school administrators that had covered up the rape of his daughter by another student in the school bathroom. That man was arrested, and his outburst used by the Biden administration to target parents who opposed mandatory masking in schools, pornographic and explicit content, as well as critical race and gender theory. As the Biden administration opens the spigots to flood the United States with abortion pills, state pro-life laws against distributing chemical abortion drugs hold the power to save babies’ lives, limit the most serious injuries to expectant mothers, and jail the profiteers of the abortion industry. “All pro-lifers must recognize that state laws are their best hope to protect innocent human life in this chapter of the movement,” John Seago, president of Texas Right to Life, told The Washington Stand exclusively.
To circumvent state pro-life protections, the same day the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, President Joe Biden “directed the Secretary of Health and Human Services to identify all ways to ensure that mifepristone” — which causes four times as many adverse reactions as surgical abortion — “is as widely accessible as possible,” including “through telehealth and sent by mail.”
Although the Biden administration’s FDA last week allowed retailer pharmacists such as CVS and Walgreens to distribute mifepristone, abortion expansion remains hemmed in by pro-life laws blanketing most of the United States. A total of 29 states require physicians to administer the abortion pills, and 18 require abortionists to be present when women take the pills in case of potentially life-threatening adverse events, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute. That greatly circumscribes the reach of CVS and Walgreens, which have agreed to comply with state laws. In all, 5,207 of the 9,021 Walgreens stores operated in 2020 reside in these 29 states (including 701 in Texas alone).

So, restoring the Communists’ leader, Lula da Silva, to its presidency was a top priority, one accomplished in elections last year many Brazilians believe were fraudulently decided.
For some 70 days, millions of Lula’s opponents turned out peacefully in cities across the country urging the military to intervene pursuant to its constitutional duty in the event elections were deemed to have been stolen.
The armed forces did not act. And, after Lula took office on January 1st, key government buildings in Brasilia were attacked, apparently by a combination of leftist provocateurs and supporters of former President Jair Bolsanaro, who has denounced those responsible.
Like Hitler’s Reichstag fire, count on the Marxists to use this pretext to suppress their opponents – and freedom.

‘Everything was banging and shaking’: 7.6 magnitude earthquake off Indonesia rocks Darwin

Residents of Darwin and much of the Top End have reported “violent” shaking of their houses after they were jolted awake by a strong earthquake off Indonesia.
The 7.6 magnitude undersea quake struck near Indonesia’s Tanimbar Islands, east of Timor-Leste, early on Tuesday, with the epicentre at a depth of about 90km.
It was felt hundreds of kilometres away, particularly in Darwin.
Australia’s emergency management minister, Murray Watt, told the ABC he hadn’t heard any reports of damage in the Northern Territory capital or elsewhere in the Top End.
The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre assessed there was no tsunami threat to the Australian mainland, islands or territories.

Seattle schools sue social media platforms:
alleging engagement leads to youth mental health crisis

The Seattle Public School District has filed a lawsuit against the owners of such social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, alleging they are contributing to the mental health crisis among young people. The 91-page-lawsuit, filed Friday in a U.S. District Court, argues the platforms have "created a public nuisance by targeting their products to children," NPR reports.
The novel case also argues the platforms contribute to cyberbullying and self-harm and have negatively affected students' overall performance in school. "Defendants have successfully exploited the vulnerable brains of youth, hooking tens of millions of students across the country into positive feedback loops of excessive use and abuse of Defendants' social media platforms," the lawsuit reads. "Worse, the content Defendants curate and direct to youth is too often harmful and exploitive."
Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act shields online companies from liability for what third-party users post, but the lawsuit argues that this provision doesn't apply in this circumstance. "Plaintiff is not alleging Defendants are liable for what third-parties have said on Defendants' platforms but, rather, for Defendants' own conduct," the lawsuit continues. "Defendants affirmatively recommend and promote harmful content to youth, such as pro-anorexia and eating disorder content."
