House Jan. 6 Committee leaks thousands of Trump allies’ Social Security numbers: Report
|
|
The recently sunsetted House Jan. 6 committee released Trump White House visitor logs from December 2020 containing nearly 2,000 unreacted Social Security numbers.
At least three of the numbers, inadvertently leaked as part of the hoard of documents the committee posted online in recent weeks, belonged to members of Trump’s cabinet others. Several Republican governors and floods of other Trump allies have been caught up in the privacy breach.
The document was taken down on Wednesday, according to the Washington Post, which first reported the leak, but the Government Publishing Office, which was responsible for posting the file online, does not appear to have notified the individuals whose private information was leaked.
South Dakota’s Republican Gov. Kristi L. Noem, one of those whose information was exposed, is demanding answers from the Publishing Office, National Archives and Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, Mississippi Democrat and former chairman of the committee.
Her lawyers sent a sternly worded letter on Friday demanding a detailed accounting of “how the breach of privacy occurred, who was responsible, what steps each of you has taken to remedy the breach, and what specific measures and remedies will be taken to protect Governor Noem and her family in light of the public dissemination of their private information and the heightened risk for identity theft and any other future privacy violations.” (Washington Times) Read more here. |

According to JustTheNews, officials in Maricopa County have launched an “independent” investigation into significant issues reported with election center printers during the 2022 midterm elections. The County Board of Supervisors made the announcement in a statement released on Twitter.
In the statement, the two chairs declared that they are committed to finding out what occurred , and more importantly, why they occurred. In the statement, they announced that former Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Ruth McGregor has been appointed to lead the investigation.

|
|
City sidewalks that transformed into makeshift homeless camps as tens of thousands of illegal immigrants were released into downtown El Paso in recent months have been cleared out ahead of President Joe Biden's arrival Sunday.
The hundreds of people camped out on individual blocks surrounding the Greyhound Bus Station and Sacred Heart Church have been moved out of eyesight by local El Paso police officers and federal Border Patrol agents, according to four law enforcement officials who spoke with the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
"The [community residents] that experienced it on a daily basis were fed up and they made it known," a senior federal agent wrote in a text message. "Crime was getting bad and many residents were complaining. Some migrants even took over private parking lots and were charging for people to use them for parking."
The undertaking began last week after authorities discovered several groups of people on the streets were pretending to have been released by Border Patrol but had never been arrested and were considered unlawfully present.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, from his Knesset office, appeared before AIPAC leaders and activists by videoconference and thanked them for supporting the State of Israel and strengthening ties with the US.
The Prime Minister also held an open conversation with AIPAC President Betsy Korn in the context of which he discussed Iran, expanding the circle of peace and US-Israel relations.
On Iran, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that people are seeing the regime's internal repression of the people, as well as the executions of those demonstrating for freedom. (Read more)

2. Government intends to pass sweeping judicial overhaul by end of March - Times of Israel
The new government intends to pass its sweeping legislative agenda for an overhaul of Israel’s legal and judicial system by the end of March.
According to an official in the office of MK Simcha Rothman, chair of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, the different pieces of legislation making up the four components of the planned major reform are currently being drawn up and will be presented to the government’s Ministerial Committee for Legislation in the coming weeks.
Once there is general agreement among the different coalition parties, the legislation will be submitted to the Knesset as government bills, with the goal being to pass all four reforms by the end of the Knesset winter session which will end shortly before the Passover holiday that starts April 5.

Claims that newly installed Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s planned judicial reforms will mean the “end of democracy” are “without foundation,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday in opening remarks at the weekly cabinet meeting.
Netanyahu’s remarks came in response to the outraged accusations by retired Supreme Court President Aharon Barak, 87, broadcast this weekend over three separate Israeli television channels for emphasis.
“Minister Levin collected all the bad proposals amassed over the years and connected them into some kind of chain that is strangling Israeli democracy, and the result, the product obtained as a result, is the abolition of judicial review in Israel. 4. Gantz threatens civil war, tells Netanyahu ‘we will choose to fight you’ - World Israel News
National Unity party chairman and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz excoriated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of leading Israel towards civil war.
Speaking at a faction meeting of the National Unity party Monday afternoon, Gantz lambasted the new right-wing government’s planned judicial reforms, which were proposed last week by newly minted Justice Minister Yariv Levin (Likud).
Gantz accused the Likud of moving forward with the reforms – long pushed by the Right to curtail the ability of the Supreme Court to overturn Knesset laws – in order to shield Netanyahu from prosecution in his ongoing corruption trials.
“If you think that we won’t give you a fair trial, don’t try to correct it by doing an injustice to the State of Israel and Israeli society,” Gantz said, calling the proposed judicial reforms “anti-patriotic and anti-Zionist.” (Read more)

5. US, Israeli, Arab Diplomats Convene in Abu Dhabi for Negev Forum Meeting - Algemeiner
More than 150 senior diplomats from the US, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt and Morocco met in Abu Dhabi on Monday for a two-day working groups meeting of the Negev Forum to increase regional cooperation.
The forum, which first met in the Negev desert town of Sde Boker, Israel, in March 2022, will focus on six priority areas: food security and water technology, clean energy, tourism, health, education and coexistence, and regional security.
Alon Ushpiz, Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the head of the Israeli delegation to Abu Dhabi, said that this was likely the largest gathering of Israeli officials and their regional counterparts since the Madrid Talks in the early 1990s. (Read more)

1.Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Blasts Biden’s Border Visit | The Daily Wire
Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott blasted President Joe Biden’s visit to El Paso on Sunday, claiming that the president has “no plans” to enforce immigration laws.
Abbott shared the words during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo.
“Biden is there today to look at a sanitized El Paso so that he can do all he can to help and aid the illegal immigrants as opposed to stopping them from coming into our country,” he said.
Abbott’s criticisms also come after authorities in El Paso removed migrant encampments ahead of the president’s planned Sunday visit. Cleanup occurred at the city’s downtown bus station and at the shelter near Sacred Heart Church, according to a report by the New York Post.

2.'Pay to slay': Biden sued for sending half a billion in Palestinian aid that could fund acts of terrorism (msn.com)
The Biden administration has shipped more than a half billion U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Palestinian Authority without verifying that the organization isn’t funding terrorism, according to a federal lawsuit.
The plaintiffs include victims of terrorism and Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, and is being led by America First Legal (AFL), a government watchdog group.
"Joe Biden is breaking the law by allowing our tax dollars to fund terrorism in Israel, and he must be stopped," said Jackson, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "I have deep respect for my fellow plaintiffs who have been tragically and directly impacted by Pay to Slay, and I am proud to be on the same team as we hold this failed administration accountable."
The law, which is named for Taylor Force, a U.S. Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan who was murdered by Palestinian terrorists in 2016, prohibits U.S. economic assistance that benefits the Palestinian Authority unless and until the secretary of state certifies that the group has terminated funding of violent extremism. The law passed Congress with bipartisan support, and President Donald Trump signed it in 2018 as part of a consolidated appropriations bill.

3.Lawmakers Are Still Using TikTok After Voting To Ban It On Federal Government Devices | The Daily Caller
Some lawmakers are active on TikTok even after concerns about the social media platform’s surveillance capabilities prompted Congress to ban it on some federal devices in December.
The bipartisan omnibus spending bill passed on Dec. 23 prohibits TikTok on executive branch mobile devices, with limited carveouts for national security, law enforcement and research purposes. However, Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Jamaal Bowman of New York have posted on the app since the vote despite supporting the bill, and other current and former representatives still have accounts on the platform.
The Senate voted unanimously to ban TikTok on government-issued mobile devices in December, and the House’s internal cybersecurity office directed members and staffers to delete the app from any work phones on Dec. 27 due to a “high risk to users,” NBC News reported.

4.Dems Fear QAnon 'Shooting' After House Security Removed (mediaite.com)
Some House Democrats are in living in fear of a potential shooting after metal detectors were removed from the House of Representatives under the slim majority of Republicans, according to a new report.
Left-wing site Raw Story spoke to multiple House Democrats lamenting the loss of magnetometers, which were originally installed after the January 6 Capitol riot, and expressing concern over their Republican colleagues.
“Democrats fear there could be a mass shooting on the House floor at the trigger of one of the GOP’s newly expanded ranks of conspiracy-believing lawmakers,” the article explains, and quotes Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) suggesting there could be a “workplace violent” event.
“A lot of my Republican colleagues glorify violence and proudly display the firearms they have in their offices, so it just makes me nervous that we could have a workplace violent event,” he told the outlet. “They’re not the most stable people.”

A chaotic scene unfolded in Brazil's capital Sunday as hundreds of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed Congress, the Supreme Court, and the presidential palace calling for a military intervention to overthrow President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Portuguese news agency LUSA reports the protesters attempted to storm Brasilia's Planalto Palace, the official workplace of the Brazilian president. President Silva was reportedly not on site.
Footage making the rounds on social media shows throngs of protesters – many wearing the green and yellow colors of the national flag – ransacking the building, with shattered glass and what appears to be teargas visible throughout.

The Satanic Temple is dedicating the "largest satanic gathering in history" to Democratic Boston Mayor Michelle Wu after the group wasn't allowed to deliver a satanic invocation at Boston City Hall.
SatanCon 2023 will take place in downtown Boston from April 28 to 30 and registered guests are required to wear masks and show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, according to the organization.
"Attendees must wear an N-95, KN-95, or disposable surgical mask," the temple said on its site. "Gaiters, bandanas, and cloth masks will not be allowed."
The theme of the gathering in celebration of The Satanic Temple's 10-year anniversary is "Hexennacht in Boston," German for "Witches' Night," which marks the ancient pagan holiday of May Eve. The night was later changed to Walpurgisnacht to commemorate Walpurga, a Christian saint who evangelized Germany and was said to have exorcised demons from the sick.

President Joe Biden is reportedly gearing up to declare a 2024 re-election bid after months of speculation about whether the 80-year-old Democrat had another campaign in him.
The Hill cited multiple sources reporting Saturday that Biden’s intentions could be made public sometime in the next several weeks, and a formal announcement could follow in April. Some insiders emphasized February as a month to watch, around the time of the State of the Union, though the report stressed that the timing depends on an invite from the speaker of the House to address Congress.
“I think it’s all about timing at this point,” one Biden ally told the news outlet. “It seems like he’s all in. It’s not really ‘if’ he runs anymore.”

8. Brooks: Dems Won't Accept GOP Additions to Debt Ceiling Like Balanced Budget Requirement (breitbart.com)
On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” New York Times columnist David Brooks stated that the Republicans in the House will want to attach certain provisions, like a balanced budget amendment as an example, to any plan to increase the country’s debt ceiling over the summer, and “the Democrats will not accept” provisions like that and so he doesn’t see how there will be a debt ceiling increase over the summer in the current political landscape. And that failure to raise the debt ceiling “would be catastrophic.”
Brooks stated, “[T]he thing — and I think Jonathan mentioned this last week — that absolutely has to happen is, we have to raise the debt ceiling sometime around July. And if we do that, the full faith and credit of the — if we don’t do it, the full faith and credit of the United States is destroyed. So, they’re going to want to attach all sorts of riders to that that the Democrats will not accept, a balanced budget amendment, things like that. And that means it’s highly unlikely. I don’t see how they get a debt ceiling raised in the summer with this political landscape. And that would be catastrophic.”

In challenging times, many Christians often quote the Old Testament verse found in 2 Chronicles 7:!4, where the Lord says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” This conditional assurance from the Lord is often used to illustrate the promising power of prayer in general. In America, we often underestimate the power of prayer and rely a lot on humankind and its enterprise instead. There is one man I know of who will tell you different from where he is today. His name is Damar Hamlin.
The Buffalo Bills defensive back, as you may know, suffered cardiac arrest during the Monday night game with the Cincinnati Bengals. He collapsed after making a tackle. The incredible medical team went into action and revived him on the field before moving him to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition. Players on both teams were shaken and many prayed. The Bills gathered on the field and knelt in prayer. There were signs that went up from the stands that encouraged prayer. Damar Hamlin was fighting for his life and all those who were watching the game in both the stands and on television turned their attention to him. This nation, well at least the football nation, was united in prayer. For these, there was no politics, prejudice or race. We were all one in prayer for this young man. Read More

CVS, Walgreens announce plans to dispense abortion pill after Biden FDA loosens restrictions

Americans shopping for candy bars, toilet paper, or Tylenol at these familiar stores could soon be purchasing everyday items and medicines alongside pregnant women collecting pills prescribed to end the lives of their unborn children.

Following the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) loosening abortion pill distribution regulations, America’s top pharmacy chains CVS and Walgreens announced their plans to dispense the lethal drugs.
On Tuesday, the FDA updated its website to reflect new guidelines on abortion pill access, which now allows retail pharmacies to carry mifepristone which, used alongside misoprostol, causes the deaths of unborn babies at early stages of development. Pharmacies can become certified to distribute the drug by completing an agreement form, as previously reported by LifeSiteNews.
Shortly after, CVS and Walgreens, announced that their companies would be going through the process of certification in the hopes of being approved to dispense mifepristone. Both companies, which are the nation’s largest retail pharmacies, will need to complete a “Pharmacy Agreement Form” before they are legally allowed to carry the drug.
Should CVS and Walgreens obtain the certification, Americans shopping for candy bars, toilet paper, or Tylenol at these familiar stores could soon be purchasing everyday items and medicines alongside pregnant women collecting pills prescribed to end the lives of their unborn children.
CVS and Walgreens have locations in all 50 states as well as the nation’s capital, with each business owning nearly a million drug stores across the country. CVS has a page on its website with information about mifepristone. Walgreens’ site does not yet show any information on the drug.
Although women will still need a prescription to access the abortion pill, the updated guidelines allow for them to avoid picking up the drug at a doctor’s office.
Furthermore, the relaxed regulations allow doctors to prescribe the abortion pill to women via telemedicine without ruling out ectopic pregnancy, determining how many weeks pregnant they are (the abortion pill is only FDA-approved to kill unborn babies 10 weeks or younger) or even medically verifying that they are pregnant at all. Pro-lifers hire detectives to look into attacks on pregnancy centers following subpar FBI investigation

BUFFALO, New York (LifeSiteNews) — Unsatisfied with the FBI’s response, a pro-life pregnancy center will hire its own investigative team to look into who attacked last year.
“Over 78 Pro-life pregnancy centers have been attacked, including the firebombing of [our] pro-life medical network’s Buffalo office, injuring two firefighters,” CompassCare noted in its January 3 news release. However, the group feels that the FBI does not have a strong interest in finding the culprits. As a result, it will partner with the Thomas More Society to hire private investigators to find out who attacked its office.
The cost of the investigation could be underwritten if the culprits are identified, allowing CompassCare to collect the FBI’s $25,000 reward.
“The FBI, after 161 days and much pressure from media and Congressional Judiciary hearings, listed the perpetrators of CompassCare’s firebombing on its Most Wanted website while both refusing to call the attack an act of domestic terror and list the other 77 attacks against Christian pro-life pregnancy centers at all,” a news release noted. “After 6 months, the arrest tally remains at zero and death threats by pro-abortion domestic extremists continue.”
CEO Jim Harden stated:
If the FBI is interested in quelling the nationwide hate crimes against Christian pro-life organizations, they would offer a reward for information leading to the arrests of all 78 attacks, not just for the pro-abortion terrorists who firebombed our facility. It is a sad day when private citizens are left to do the work of law enforcement. If the FBI is being used for political purposes, all investigative efforts should turn on them. The organization should be defunded and those involved indicted for conspiracy to deprive pro-life citizens of their rights.
“I predict in 2023 that the pro-abortion empire and those politicians and big corporations that protect it will increase attacks against pro-life people and organizations,” he said, based on the current political situation.

A decisive test of Speaker McCarthy’s trustworthiness

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Last week, twenty true conservative legislators – not “extremists,” not “insurrectionists” – tenaciously negotiated an array of important changes for running the new Republican House of Representatives. In the end, six still declined to vote for the man who opposed many of these “rules” changes, but nonetheless allowed him to become Speaker.
They did so out of a well-founded lack of trust in Kevin McCarthy, who ultimately prevailed because he reliably controlled some 200 other members of the new Congress. For example, last November he privately approved an “omnibus” bill that precluded Republican control over spending until September, but then publicly opposed it.
We’ll test Speaker McCarthy’s trustworthiness today when his loyalists are asked to adopt the agreed rules package. Will the Speaker privately allow, if not encourage, some unconservative Republicans to vote down the package, even as he publicly supports it?

AccuWeather meteorologists warn that a moisture-packed system set to arrive early this week could be the strongest in a Pacific storm train that has been rolling since the end of 2022.
California has faced a frenzy of storms that have unleashed deadly impacts since the end of 2022, and AccuWeather meteorologists say the onslaught is far from over. One storm in the bunch was already aiming a firehose of moisture at the Golden State early in the new week. The rainfall could potentially lead to "catastrophic" flooding, in addition to widespread mudslides and road closures, forecasters say.

California School Board Bans CRT Right After Being Sworn In

A southern California school district voted to ban Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the new school board’s first meeting. California’s Temecula Valley Unified School District voted 3-2 to ban CRT just after a conservative majority had been sworn in. The resolution banning Critical Race Theory stated “The TVUSD desires to uplift and unite students by not imposing the responsibility of historical transgressions in the past and instead will engage students of all cultures in age-appropriate critical thinking that helps students navigate the past, present, and future.” The board condemned racism while also condemning CRT as “an ideology based on false assumptions about the United States of America and its population. Critical Race Theory or other similar frameworks will not be used as a source to guide how topics related to race will be taught,” the board added.
In addition, the resolution specifically banned many of the core tenets of the theory, such as the notion that: Racism is racial prejudice plus power, a concept that is often used to argue that (i) only individuals classified as “white” people can be racist because only “white” people control society and (ii) individuals in ethnic minorities cannot be racist because they do not control society. The resolution also bans other tenets of the theory, such as the idea that “Racism is ordinary and the usual way society operates” as well as “The ‘voice-of-color’ thesis, the belief that minority groups are inherently better equipped to speak about race and racism. The board’s resolution banned other teachings as well, including the idea that individuals, as a result of their race or gender, can be “inherently racist or sexist,” or may be “a member of either and oppressor or an oppressed class.” (Breitbart) Read More
