TODAY'S TOP STORY
DC mayor announces vaccine mandate for restaurants, bars, starting January 15th

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Wednesday that certain establishments, including restaurants, bars, nightclubs, gyms, events and meeting spaces, will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination beginning in January.

Patrons above the age of 12 will be required to be partially vaccinated by Jan. 15 and fully vaccinated by Feb. 15.

"If you are a resident that is not yet vaccinated and you want to continue enjoying these activities, now is the time to get vaccinated," Bowser said.

Citing new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting omicron as now the dominant strain in the U.S., D.C. Department of Health official Patrick Ashley said it was only "a matter of time" before that played out in the district, which currently has 25 confirmed cases of the new variant.

Ashley also pointed to huge spikes in the weekly and daily case rate in D.C. from a month ago, attributing them, in part, to the winter surge and the omicron variant.

The move follows in the footsteps of other major U.S. cities like New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles that have similar vaccine requirements.

Approved proof of vaccination includes vaccination cards or photos of vaccination cards, immunization records or verification apps like CLEAR and VaxYes. (ABC News)

IT IS TIME TO DECREE AN "ESTHER FAST"

> > > In advance of this decree by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, we ask our Prayer Partners to join us this week with three days of fasting, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as our Lord would lead each of you to pursue. May He move upon the hearts of our leaders, turning each one to honor our freedom. Thank you all, and God bless you, as we trust our God to hear our prayers as He did those of Queen Esther: "For such a time as THIS."

Lord God, when all hope was lost for the children of Israel, You touched one of Your children, Queen Esther, and bid her to enter into her closet of prayer and fasting, that she might turn the hand of King Xerxes to release his grip of tyranny and to let her people go. History records the rest of this story, and we give You all the glory for the power of intercession, along with fasting, when the "set time" has arrived to do so.

Lord God, in our nation today, that "set time" has now arrived. What hits the nation's capital will hit the nation; and what hits our nation will reverberate across the world.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come we pray. We ask that You would touch the hearts of Your people, to realize the seriousness of this hour, and to respond as Queen Esther did, for such a time as this? In Jesus' name, amen.
"Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty." (Zech. 4:7)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Hamas sets an ultimatum for next week - Israel National News
Senior Egyptian sources told the Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper on Thursday that Hamas and Islamic Jihad are pessimistic about the indirect negotiations with Israel and are accusing the Jewish state of procrastinating when it comes to implementing the understandings on the lifting of the “siege” on the Gaza Strip and promoting reconstruction of the Strip from the fighting in May of last year.

In an interview with the newspaper, these sources said that the Egyptians had separate talks with the leaders of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in which they discussed the "deteriorating situation" in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report, the Palestinian Arab terrorist organizations have agreed to issue an ultimatum to Israel of next Thursday, January 13, by which it must take practical steps to ease the siege and remove all obstacles to reconstruction operations. (Read more)

2. Lapid speaks to Macron, calls for pressure on Iran as Vienna nuclear talks continue - Times of Israel

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday about the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna between world powers and Iran.

Six weeks after the pair met in Paris, Lapid and Macron “held a long conversation,” according to Israel’s Foreign Ministry. The discussion centered on “nuclear talks and Israel’s demand to put pressure on Iran,” said Lapid.

His office said the two also discussed bilateral ties and that Macron “reiterated his commitment to the security of Israel and emphasized the importance he places on the warm relationship between Israel and France.”  (Read more)

3. Majority of Israelis agree to harshly restrict lives of unvaccinated - World Israel News

Following French President Emmanuel Macron’s striking statement that he would support making the lives of people not vaccinated against COVID-19 uncomfortable, it was found that the majority of Israelis feel the same.

Some 61% of Israelis said they believe harsh restrictions should be imposed on the unvaccinated, according to a poll conducted by Panels Politics’ Menachem Lazar and presented by 103FM’s Golan Yochpaz and Anat Davidov on Sunday.

“The unvaccinated, I really want to piss them off. And so we’re going to continue doing so until the end. That’s the strategy,” Macron told Le Parisien last week. The statement caused major international backlash. (Read more)

4.  Price hikes in Israel highlight long-term issues plaguing economy - YNET News

When one of Israel’s largest food producers announced it was increasing the prices of many staple products, public outrage was widespread. Owned by the Swiss firm Nestlé, Osem informed supermarket owners that it would increase the prices of hundreds of products by an average of 5%, starting next month.

The expected rise in prices exposes yet again well-known issues the Israeli economy has been dealing with for decades.

“Raw materials, packaging, and transportation costs have skyrocketed,” read the announcement by Osem. “This is unprecedented. After an extended period during which we have absorbed the price increase, we are forced to update our retail prices.”  (Read more)

5. Israeli Committee Approves More Than 3,500 Homes in Eastern Jerusalem - Algemeiner

JNS.org – A local committee in Jerusalem announced the approval of plans to build 3,557 homes in eastern Jerusalem, according to the anti-settlement monitoring group Peace Now.

One building area is between Har Homa and Givat Hamatos, and other plans are for the edge of French Hill towards Mount Scopus.

The organization argued that the move would ruin chances for peace based on the two-state solution.

The plans will now move to a district committee on Jan. 17. Once approved, it would take a year or two for construction to start and be more difficult to stop the plan at that stage, said Peace Now. (Read more)

The Daily Brief
1. Omicron cases could fall just as quickly as they rose, CDC says - NBC News

Despite the astronomic rise in omicron-related Covid cases nationwide, there is hope that the number will fall just as fast, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Friday at a media briefing — her first without the rest of the White House's Covid-19 Task Force in nearly six months.

The rise and fall of Covid diagnoses has historically been shown as "waves," but Walensky suggested the omicron surge in the U.S. may be visualized more as an "ice pick," with a dramatic rise and fall in cases similar to South Africa, which has passed its omicron surge.

"I do think in places that we are seeing this really steep incline, that we may well see also a precipitous decline," Walensky said during the briefing. Currently, new Covid cases in the U.S. are up more than 204 percent compared to two weeks ago, according to an NBC News analysis. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that Your Spirit sweep through our United States and bring a swift end to this virus, and never to return. Restore to those who have lost loved ones to this virus and comfort those who mourn.

- ”What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.” (Nahum 1:9)

2. Omicron explosion spurs nationwide breakdown of services - AP

Ambulances in Kansas speed toward hospitals then suddenly change direction because hospitals are full. Employee shortages in New York City cause delays in trash and subway services and diminish the ranks of firefighters and emergency workers. Airport officials shut down security checkpoints at the biggest terminal in Phoenix and schools across the nation struggle to find teachers for their classrooms. The current explosion of omicron-fueled coronavirus infections in the U.S. is causing a breakdown in basic functions and services — the latest illustration of how COVID-19 keeps upending life more than two years into the pandemic.

Dr. Steve Stites, chief medical officer for the University of Kansas Hospital, said … medical facilities have been hit by a “double whammy.” The number of COVID-19 patients at the University of Kansas Hospital rose from 40 on Dec. 1 to 139 on Friday. At the same time, more than 900 employees have been sickened with COVID-19 or are awaiting test results — 7% of the hospital’s 13,500-person workforce. “What my hope is and what we’re going to cross our fingers around is that as it peaks ... maybe it’ll have the same rapid fall we saw in South Africa,” Stites said, referring to the swiftness with which the number of cases fell in that country. “We don’t know that. That’s just hope.” (Read more)

- Father, we pray this omicron variant swiftly declines and dissipates. We command this plague to STOP, in Jesus name.

- “I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? “I will have no compassion,"  (Hosea 13:14)

3. Covid Treatments that Rely on Human Fetal Tissue-Derived Medicine - IFA

Regeneron is infamous for relying on fetal tissue, though the company tries to deny it.

Columbia University Research offers humanized immune system mice models for research using HSC’s (human fetal hematopoietic stem cells and human fetal thymus but can substitute the fetal thymus with other alternatives to make the research eligible for federal funding. (This is no longer an issue since the Biden Administration ended the ban on federal funding of fetal research.)

An October 7, 2020 MIT Review article confirmed that Regeneron does use the HEK293 stem cell line, but the Regeneron spokeswoman Alexander Bowie said they do not consider it fetal tissue: “It’s how you want to parse it, but the 293T cell lines available today are not considered fetal tissue, and we did not otherwise use fetal tissue.” Regeneron’s claim here is false.

Even pro-life doctors are prescribing these monoclonal antibodies, not knowing they’re as tainted with innocent blood as any COVID vaccine. Please share this information with anyone you know who’s considering or promoting this treatment, which President Trump took for COVID. (Read more)

- God, have mercy on us and our nation. We pray that the use and misuse of embryos and fetal tissue would stop. We pray that we would all be educated about how drugs, treatments, and even food is developed in the nation. (Prayer offered by IFA)

4. Biden and Trump Find Rare Agreement: Schools Should Be Open, 'Including in Chicago' - Christian Headlines

The decision by the Chicago Teachers Union to refuse in-person work has led to a rare alliance between Republican leaders, the Biden administration and the city’s Democratic mayor – all of whom have criticized the action.

The Chicago Teachers Union voted earlier this week to go to virtual learning amid rising cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, sparking heated words from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who called it an “unlawful, unilateral strike” that is based on “fear-mongering and hysteria.” Although daily case counts have soared, deaths have not.

Children need to be learning in-person, Lightfoot said. “We’re in the middle of a pandemic and a surge that’s unprecedented in our 20-plus months of experience with this deadly virus. I absolutely understand individuals’ concerns,” Lightfoot told WBEZ. “But what I also know is this is not the time for us to abandon science, and what the science and the data tell us is that the safest place for children to be in a pandemic is in the classroom.”

The Biden administration also criticized the teachers union. “As the President said yesterday, he wants schools to be open,” White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said Wednesday. “We know they can be open safely, and we’re here to help make that happen. And he agrees with medical, scientific, and education experts that, because of the historic work we’ve done, we are more than equipped to ensure schools are open. … This includes schools everywhere, including in Chicago. Fortunately, 96 percent of schools are doing just that.”

Former President Donald Trump, too, criticized the union. “What is happening in Chicago with all the school closures is devastating,” Trump said. “... Educate our children in person or give every dollar spent on education directly to the students so they can get out of these failing government schools!” (Read more)

- Father, we pray that this Teachers Union reverses course and decides to open the schools. Protect our children from these policies and decisions.

- Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. (Psalm 127:3-5)

5. Democrats quietly explore barring Trump from office over Jan. 6 - The Hill

In the year since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a handful of Democrats, constitutional scholars and pro-democracy advocates have been quietly exploring how a post-Civil War amendment to the Constitution might be used to disqualify former President Trump from holding office again. An analysis by The Hill found that around a dozen Democratic lawmakers have spoken either publicly or privately over the last year about how Section 3 of the 14th Amendment might apply to those who engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6.

"I continue to explore all legal paths to ensure that the people who tried to subvert our democracy are not in charge of it,” Wasserman Schultz told The Hill.

Nadler and Raskin did not respond to a request for comment.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which was ratified after the Civil War, says that officeholders who "have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same" are disqualified from future office.

Whether a push for Trump's disqualification under the 14th Amendment gains wider support or more legislative traction may turn on what the Jan. 6 House panel ultimately reveals about his role. “Once that committee makes clear, as I trust it will, that what took place was indeed an insurrection that triggers Section 3 of the 14th Amendment and that supports criminal prosecution by DOJ of those responsible, it is difficult to imagine this not becoming a logical next step,” Tribe said. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask You to cancel these plans by the Mighty Power of Your Blood,
in Jesus' name, amen.

6. New Canadian Law Will Officially Describe Parts Of The Bible As 'Myth - Prophecy News Watch

With the passage of Bill C-4 (the "conversion therapy" ban), there is a great deal of concern among Canadian churches. Has the Trudeau government put a law on the books that effectively criminalizes Christianity? According to some prominent clergy in this country, the answer is, shockingly, yes. In a letter published by Liberty Coalition Canada, a group of Evangelical pastors comments:

"This bill's wording is sufficiently broad to allow for the criminal prosecution of Christians who would speak biblical truth into the lives of those in bondage to sexual sins like homosexuality and transgenderism... Even a mother or father who offers their children freedom from sexual sin through repentance and faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 6:9-11) could be threatened with five years in jail."

The letter continues with a rebuke of Members of Parliament, who unanimously rushed Bill C-4 through the House of Commons last month without any debate or public input: "Our King and Head is greatly displeased with our MPs for their sinful disregard for the spiritual and eternal well-being of Canadians. But it is important to note that they have also committed high blasphemy by referring to biblical teaching as 'myths' in this legislation. We all must therefore tremble to consider what terrifying judgments will be visited upon our nation for this bold gesture of hatred towards the most high God."

According to Bill C-4, which goes into force on January 8th, the Bible's teaching on sexuality and gender is defined as a "myth" under Canadian Law. The promotion and sharing of this biblical teaching will be a jailable offence that officially "causes harm to society". CLC (Campaign Life Coalistion) has been warning about the insidious danger of Bill C-4 (formerly Bills C-6, C-8, and S-202) for two years through our "Stop the Ban" campaign. The LGBT lobby, in bed with the mainstream media and Trudeau Liberals, has mounted a direct attack on the very foundation of the pro-family movement - the Word of God, which gives us God's plan for marriage and family. This attack not only puts faithful clergy and counsellors at risk of fines and imprisonment, it puts good parents in jeopardy as well. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up the saints in Canada, asking that You grant each one wisdom to know how to confront this wicked piece of legislation, in Your name, amen.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." (James 1:5)

7. Sunday, January 16th is "Biblical Sexuality Sermon Sunday" in Canada! - Prophecy News Watch

In response to Bill C-4's disdain for the authority of the Bible, Christian leaders from all across Canada are encouraging ALL faithful pastors and priests to take a stand and speak out from their pulpits on January 16th.

This call for pastoral action is a national initiative meant to cross all denominational lines. Clergy of all stripes are being urged to join together in proclaiming the authority of God's Word over and above our politicians' pro-LGBT pandering in Bill C-4.

The emphasis of "Biblical Sexuality Sermon Sunday" is to faithfully proclaim the biblical view of marriage, family, and sexual morality in this time of great confusion and error.

Many clergy in the United States are also alarmed by what they see happening in the "Great White North" and are calling for a show of solidarity with their Canadian brothers on January 16th.

. . . no matter who you are, we encourage you to make others around you aware of the Trudeau government's Bill C-4 and its attack on biblical Christianity, parental rights, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression in Canada. The lies and harms in this legislation need to be exposed, and that will only happen if we tell our friends and family about it. The mainstream media is not going to do it, so it is up to us! (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray that there would be a mighty outpouring of TRUTH that will be
preached from the altars of our churches, both in Canada and in America, that God's
people not fall into deception of the lie of the LGBT movement. We bless "Biblical Sexuality Sermon Sunday" In Jesus name, amen and amen.

- "Let no man deceive you by any means. . ." (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

 8. Pentagon Building New Secret Courtroom at Guantánamo Bay - New York Times

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is building a second courtroom for war crimes trials at Guantánamo Bay that will exclude the public from the chamber, the latest move toward secrecy in the nearly 20-year-old detention operation. The new courtroom will permit two military judges to hold proceedings simultaneously starting in 2023.

On those occasions, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and the four other men who are accused of plotting the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, would have hearings in the existing chamber, which has a gallery for the public.

Smaller cases would be held in the new $4 million chamber. Members of the public seeking to watch those proceedings at Guantánamo would be shown a delayed video broadcast in a separate building.

It is the latest retreat from transparency in the already secretive national security cases at the base, where the military and intelligence agencies have been restricting what the public can see. That includes forbidding photography of sites that were once routinely shown to visitors and declaring both populated and emptied wartime prison facilities off limits to reporters. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray You will fortify American protection from this Communist mentality to spy on our citizens.  Break up the Democrat-controlled January 6 committee by the mighty hand of our God.  Father, we pray that all the plans of Benny Thompson will be withstood by the mighty power of the voice of God who declares his defeat in all he proposes to do.   Push him down and acknowledge him to be an enemy of the Mighty God in heaven.  He is conquered by the Name of Jesus.

9.  Biden taps combat-hardened officer to lead Central Command, which works with Israel - Times of Israel

A senior Army three-star general with extensive experience in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars has been nominated to become the top US commander for the Middle East. President Joe Biden has nominated Army Lt. Gen. Erik Kurilla to head US Central Command and be promoted to four-star general, according to multiple US officials.

The Senate Armed Services Committee notice says only that Kurilla has been nominated to become a general, and does not detail which job he would get if confirmed. But his nomination for US Central Command has been expected for several months. US officials confirmed the planned job on condition of anonymity because it has not yet been made public. (Read more)

- We pray for Lt. Gen. Erik Kurilla as he is nominated for US commander for the Middle East. Guide and direct his decisions during this critical time in history. Give him understanding of the times.  In the twenty-first century we need men and women who have understanding of the times, who know what the people of God ought to do, to rise up and do so.

- And of the children of Issachar, men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment (
1 Chronicles 12:32).

10. Iran displays missiles amid nuclear talks with world powers - Times of Israel

State television says missiles in central Tehran are the same types as those used to strike US bases in Iraq after Soleimani killing

Iran displayed three ballistic missiles at an outdoor prayer esplanade in central Tehran on Friday as talks in Vienna aimed at reviving Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers flounder.

The missiles — known as Dezful, Qiam and Zolfaghar — have official ranges of up to 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) and are already-known models, the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said.

Diplomats from countries that remain in the 2015 nuclear deal — Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China — are working with Tehran to revive the accord, which had sought to limit Iran’s nuclear ambitions in exchange for lifting economic sanctions. (Read more)

- Father, give wisdom to the world's powers about Iran's motives with its nuclear weapons. Reveal Iran's secrets and what they are scheming.

- "Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything."         (2 Timothy 2:7)

News from the Presidential Prayer Team
DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

Today, President Joe Biden and the first family are at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland. They have no public events on their schedule at this time. The president will be preparing for the meetings in the coming week between the U.S., NATO partners, and Russia.

While the U.S. and European allies have been primarily concerned about the buildup of Russian forces on the border of Ukraine, recent political unrest in Kazakhstan has caused new concerns over the coming talks. Reports indicate that Russian paratroopers were deployed into Kazakhstan as peacekeepers as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “The world will, of course, be watching for any violation of human rights and actions that may lay the predicate for the seizure of Kazakh institutions, and we call on the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces and law enforcement to uphold international human rights obligations in order to support a peaceful resolution.”

She added, “Secretary Blinken shared a productive call with the Kazakhstan foreign minister, where he reaffirmed the United States full support for Kazakhstan’s constitutional institutions, human rights, media freedom, including through the restoration of Internet service, and advocated for a peaceful, rights-respecting resolution to the crisis.” (Read more)

AS THE LORD LEADS, PRAY WITH US…

  • For God to guide and direct administration officials as they prepare for the meetings between the U.S. and its partners and Russia.
  • For God’s hand of protection to cover all U.S. forces serving abroad in Europe as they prepare in the face of increased tensions.
  • For discernment for the president as he navigates the complex and high-tension foreign policy concerns between Russia, Ukraine, and now Kazakhstan.
Reps. Gaetz, Greene discuss Jan. 6 events, demand probe into whether federal govt. played a role in inciting violence
Reps. Gaetz, Greene Discuss Jan. 6 Events, Demand Probe Into Whether Federal Govt. Played A Role In Inciting Violence

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) are demanding a federal probe into suspected federal agents and far-left operatives inciting violence before and during the January 6 protest.

In a joint press conference Thursday, the two Republicans said Ray Epps, an Arizona man who has mysteriously disappeared from the FBI’s most wanted list, called for a breach of the U.S. Capitol right before it happened, but hasn’t been charged.

“Ray Epps was originally on the FBI’s list of most wanted individuals after the initial events on January 6, but then the day after Revolver News publishes an exclusive report about Stewart Rhodes, who’s involved with the Oath Keepers, then all of a sudden Ray Epps’ name falls off the list,” Gaetz explained. “We’ve sent letter asking questions about that unexplainable circumstance and the FBI and the Justice Department have given us no illuminating information.”

Both lawmakers reiterated, alleging the federal government is behind the deadly events of January 6. The Republicans added, they have yet to hear a response back for Attorney General Merrick Garland and the FBI’s director surrounding the events leading up to January 6.

Gaetz and Greene asserted that the federal government has a history of infiltrating patriotic groups and Ray Epps appears to be part of those efforts. Additionally, Greene took aim at the way mainstream media covered the events of January 6, including how it has portrayed the protestors.

“I’m not one that’s going to just sit there and take and duck and, you know, hide under cover when the mainstream media and the Democrat Party wants to label people and tell lies,’ she stated. “We’re here because we want to get our in front and say we think there’s real questions that do need to be asked.”

The congresswoman expressed her frustration by saying if Democrats really cared about riots and protests, they would have worked hard to put an end to the Antifa riots back in 2020, but instead contributed to the violence. She then indicated that not one Republican has helped incite violence like the Democrats have.

Furthermore, the Republican lawmakers pointed out none of January 6 defendants have been charged with insurrection or terrorism. They also added, those detainees are subject to inhumane detention conditions in jail.

Moving forward, the Georgia Republican emphasized a transparent and unbiased January 6 Committee is needed to give the American people the truth they deserve. (Read more)

- Father God and Righteous Judge, we ask You to release the voice of truth and strength upon all the members of Congress demanding justice over the dramatic event of January 6th.  May they be fully successful in bringing righteousness to bear upon the seemingly unjust actions of our government agencies.  We declare that the Truth will quickly set the captives free – literally!  In Jesus name!

- "And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."  (Romans 8:27 ESV)

On Ukraine-Russia Border, Evangelicals Endure as Invasion Looms
On Ukraine-Russia Border, Evangelicals Endure as Invasion Looms

Ukraine celebrates Christmas twice, honoring both the Eastern and Western church calendars. Yet this season, Pentecostals spent the week leading up to December 25 in prayer and fasting while Baptists did the same from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day.

The reason: tens of thousands of Russian troops amassed on the border, threatening a full invasion.

“Prayer is our spiritual weapon,” said Igor Bandura, vice president of the Baptist Union of Ukraine, of the group petitions to the Prince of Peace. “God can undo what the politicians are planning.”

Russian-backed separatists have held control of the Donbas region of southeastern Ukraine since 2014. This past November, the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) declared Donbas “the area of Europe where the church suffers the most.” In total the conflict has killed over 14,000 people and displaced 2 million of the region’s 5 million people.

This past Friday, US President Joe Biden warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that any further invasion of Ukraine would result in “a heavy price to pay”; Putin replied that any new sanctions would trigger a complete breakdown in relations. On Monday, Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the US and its allies would “respond decisively” to Russian aggression; Zelensky signaled appreciation for the “unwavering support.” (Christianity Today) Read more here.

Brazil rock formation collapse kills at least 6, injures at least 32; caught on video
The incident took place at a popular tourist attraction

At least six people were killed and dozens injured after a massive rock formation collapsed on top of three boats in Brazil in an incident that was captured on video and posted on social media.

Brazilian authorities have confirmed the incident, which happened in the city of Capitolia in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on Saturday at Furnas Lake, according to the New York Daily News

As many as 20 people may be missing and officials are working to identify them, Edgard Estevo, commander of the Minas Gerais State Fire Department, said in a news conference. He said many of the injured had been released from the hospital by Saturday night.

In the video posted on Twitter, a large portion of a cliff can be seen crashing into the water at a popular tourist attraction along the Rio Grande river, directly on top of several boats as horrified onlookers screamed. Furnas Lake was created in 1958 in conjunction with the development of a hydroelectric plant.

Estevo said the accident occurred between the towns of Sao Jose da Barra and Capitolio, from which the boats had left.

Rovilson Teixeira, who has worked in the area for six years, told the Brazilian outlet OTempo he has never seen anything like it.

"We are all stunned, nobody knows how many victims, but I can already tell you that there were not one or two deaths, but many deaths," he said. "There are a lot of hurt people. The region is full of ambulances that have come from other areas to pick up the victims, but no one yet realizes the scale of the tragedy here." (Fox News) Read more and view the video

God has a long history of working inside prisons. The very first book of the Bible describes how God granted Joseph favor with a prison warden, something that eventually led to the saving of his family, the saving of Egypt, and the preservation of God's promises to establish the nation of Israel.

God is still working in prisons, as a recent news story from Religion News Service demonstrates. What Rodrigo Abd and German De Los Santos describe as taking place in an Argentinian prison, most of us would identify as a revival: evangelical Christians taking over entire cell blocks in one of that country's most crime-ridden cities.

Rosario in Santa Fe Province is the birthplace of Communist revolutionary Che Guevara. Drug dealing and murder are common career choices there. Many young men end up as assassins, serving drug lords who, according to one prosecutor, often run their networks from within overcrowded prisons.

These drug kingpins now face competition from, believe it or not, evangelical preachers. In addition to witnessing and making converts, these preachers are effectively starting their own prison units run by the inmates. Unsurprisingly, their units tend to be safer and calmer, with their own rules against fighting, smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Offenders are dismissed.

Reportedly, there's not been a single riot in units where the evangelicals are in charge, and residents block the frequent attempts by prison gangs to infiltrate them. "We bring peace to the prisons," said one minister who helped establish these units. "And that is better for the authorities." (Not to mention, it's better for the inmates, too!). Another pastor explained, "We don't use knives, but the Bible, to take over a cell block. (Read more)

Thoughts for Repentance
21 Days of Removing Fear

Day six: remove the fear of sickness.
Replace it with God's Word as to healing.

Spend time today, one on One with the Holy Spirit, asking Him---even in five minutes of your prayer time--- if you have any fear of sickness. Did it begin as a child? Was it passed down to you generationally? Does that fear appear in your character today?

Allow Him, Who loves you so much, to convict you of any residue of that sin, that fear of sickness. With His perfect love, exercise your free will to confess that sin. He will forgive you. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And then decide, if you wish, to repent, to turn away from that sin stronghold, replacing it with His Holy Word as your Truth going forward.

As with all strongholds that you remove, then choose His Way forward based on His Word.

Jesus/Yesuah took on our sicknesses. Matthew 8: 16-17 states: " When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: ' He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.'"

Words: Unknown
Music:  Traditional folk song

Scripture: We also are weak in Him, yet by God’s power we shall live with Him.              (2 Corinthians 13:4)

Lyrics:
I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Refrain

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Refrain
