A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday, killing more than 2,300 people and taking down countless buildings.
The earthquake prompted a search for survivors in the rubble in cities and towns across the region. The death toll is expected to rise.
Residents in both countries were awakened by the quake several hours before dawn and rushed outside to cold, rain and snow. Dozens of buildings in cities in the area were toppled.

Third Chinese spy balloon is 'operating near US interests' - but officials won't say where
|
|
A third Chinese spy balloon could be lingering near US interests, but officials won't say where it is.
An anonymous source told the Washington Post a third balloon is likely operating near the US after the first balloon was discovered hovering over Montana on Thursday and another was found above Latin America on Friday.
The first balloon was shot down by an F-22 Raptor out of Langley Air Force base with a single AIM-9X sidewinder missile at 2.38pm today off the coast of South Carolina.
A source told the Post that the discovery of the balloons was an embarrassment to the Chinese, who are 'freaked' out by the incident. 'They’re in a very tough place,' the source told the outlet. 'And they have very few cards to play right now.'
China had said the first balloon was collecting weather data when it was blown off course. However, on Saturday, two officials told the Washington Post that the balloons were part of a Chinese military surveillance program that relies on technology that helps supply the People’s Liberation Army. China threatens US for popping balloon as American military begins recovery operation
|
|
China on Sunday threatened to respond after the United States shot down a suspected spy balloon that flew over sensitive military sites while U.S. armed forces are currently recovering the aircraft.
"China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company concerned, and reserves the right to make further responses if necessary," China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has insisted the balloon was a civilian research airship that went off course, said.
The agency also said China "strongly disapproves of and protests against the US attack," which it said "is a clear overreaction and a serious violation of international practice."
The U.S. military popped the balloon Saturday over the Atlantic Ocean after it traversed the continental United States for several days last week, including over sensitive military sites, according to The Associated Press.
The U.S. Navy and Coast Guard began a recovery operation for the balloon on Saturday, but it is unclear how long the mission will take. Officials plan on analyzing the recovered Chinese equipment in the balloon, which fell in about 47 feet of water about six miles off the coast. (Just the News) Read more here.

'Warning sign': Iran's military reportedly sending warships to Brazil, Panama Canal in challenge to US
|
|
The United States is tracking warlike announcements by Iran’s regime that it deployed two military ships to Brazil that are also headed for the Panama Canal, where Tehran declared it will establish a military presence.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, "We are aware of these claims by Iran’s navy. We continue to monitor Iran’s attempts to have a military presence in the Western Hemisphere."
The Iranian regime-controlled news outlet Tehran Times reported Saturday that "Iran’s 86th flotilla warships is now sailing along the western shores of Latin America, the Navy second-in-command said."
Fox News Digital learned on Tuesday from a Western security source that Iranian warships have not yet docked in Brazil.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital in a statement that "Iran’s growing presence in the Western Hemisphere should come as no surprise as the Biden Administration has a history of appeasement and engaging with authoritarian regimes. Tehran’s ability to expand its military presence in our hemisphere should be a warning sign, especially as it seeks to support the left-wing Marxist regimes that will undermine peace and stability throughout the region." 1. IDF kills terrorists in overnight raid near Jericho - Israel Hayom
Israeli forces killed a number of terrorists during a raid near the city of Jericho on Monday aimed at capturing suspected Hamas perpetrators of a recent terrorist attack in the area, according to a statement from the Israeli military.
It said the targets of the raid were behind a recent shooting at a key intersection near the Vered Yeriho settlement on Jan. 28. The Palestinian Health Ministry said three people had been wounded, one critically but it gave no details on any dead.
The raid came during a period of heightened tensions that have drawn fears of a further escalation in violence and prompted calls for calm on both sides from the United States and international bodies including the United Nations. (Read more)

2. 'Olive Branches:' Israeli humanitarian aid delegation leaves for Turkey - Israel National News
This evening (Monday), the joint "Olive Branches" humanitarian aid delegation of the Israel Defense Forces, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense will leave Israel for Türkiye (Turkey) to assist in the earthquake-stricken area of the country.
The delegation, led by the IDF Home Front Command, will depart from the Nevatim Air Force Base on Israeli Air Force aircraft this evening. The delegation is expected to begin its search and rescue mission immediately. An advanced team departed for Türkiye earlier this afternoon and will receive the delegation upon landing in Türkiye.
The Commanding Officer of the Home Front Command, MG Rafi Milo, defined the delegation's mission as providing immediate assistance in life-saving efforts. This will include quickly mapping out the sites hit by the earthquake. In parallel, the delegation is preparing to provide medical assistance to individuals rescued from the sites hit by the earthquake. (Read more)

3. ‘We will multiply and increase’: Lawmakers vow to complete new Jewish neighborhood in eastern J’lem - World Israel News
Members of Knesset from all the coalition parties held a tour of northeastern Jerusalem and the terminal at the old airport at Atarot, where there are plans to build a new Jewish neighborhood.
Just over a year ago, the Bennett government reportedly caved to U.S. pressure to delay construction.
The goal of the tour – initiated and led by the “Im Eshkachech – Keep Jerusalem” organization, founded and headed by Chaim Silberstein, was to strengthen the government to speed up the environmental review and soon approve the neighborhood in the Jerusalem District Committee.
“As much as terrorism tries to hit us and take our heads down, we will multiply and we will increase,” vowed Knesset member Boaz Bismut (Likud). “We will work on all levels in order to strengthen the settlement and promote the construction plan of the Jewish neighborhood in Atarot.” (Read more)

4. Gantz: Israel to grind to a halt if judicial blitz continues; coalition pushes back - Times of Israel
Senior opposition figure Benny Gantz called Monday for citizens to grind the country to a halt if the government continues to rapidly push its far-reaching judicial changes, as the sides remained at an impasse regarding efforts to hold compromise talks on the matter.
Following five weeks of steady civil protest, a renewed offer by Gantz for collaboration, and an effort being developed by President Isaac Herzog to convene a panel for an agreed course of action, Gantz told reporters before his National Unity faction meeting in the Knesset: “If the [legislative] race continues, we will also use the right to strike — and masses of citizens will bring the country to a standstill.”
In addition to plans by protest leaders to encourage larger strikes than the current, largely symbolic, hour-long strikes held by some high-tech companies, economic and civil society leaders have warned of potential harm to the Israeli economy. (Read more)

5. Israeli invention gives robot 'sense of smell' thanks to locusts - Israel Hayom
A new sniffing robot equipped with a biological sensor that uses the antennae of locusts could help advance disease diagnosis and improve security checks, its Israeli developers said.
Locusts have an acute sense of smell, which the researchers in Tel Aviv University have managed to harness to their bio-hybrid robot, making it far more sensitive than existing electronic sniffers, they said.
Locusts smell with their antennae. On the four-wheeled robot, the researchers placed the insect's antenna between two electrodes that send electrical signals as a response to a nearby odor. Each scent has a unique signature which, with machine learning, the robot's electronic system can identify. (Read more)

1.Cruz, Manchin propose bill blocking Biden admin from banning gas stoves | Fox Business
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., introduced the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act last week amid the Biden administration's discussions of proposed restrictions on gas stoves.
Their bill would prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from advancing regulations on existing or new gas stoves that would ban their use or "would otherwise substantially increase the average price of gas stoves in the United States."
"Make no mistake, radical environmentalists want to stop Americans from using natural gas. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s proposed ban on gas stoves is the latest egregious scaremongering by the Far Left and their Biden administration allies," Cruz said. "I am pleased to partner with Sen. Manchin in this bipartisan effort to stop the federal government from issuing regulations that put the interests of the Green New Deal before the well-being of American families."

2. Idaho Satanists plan 'gender affirmation ritual' to protest ban on surgeries for children: 'I praise myself' | Fox News
Members of The Satanic Temple plan to oppose a proposed Idaho bill that would prohibit sex-change surgery and drugs for minors by holding a "gender affirmation ritual" on the grounds of the state Capitol.
A bill titled the "Vulnerable Child Protection Act" was introduced by Republican state Rep. Bruce Skaug last week and would render offering puberty blockers or transgender surgery for minors a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The bill aims to protect "children from harmful pharmaceutical and surgical interventions for the purpose of changing the appearance of a child's sex," but would not apply to those who require treatment because of medically necessary treatments, according to a fact sheet released by the Idaho Family Policy Center.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) is boycotting President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address taking place on Tuesday, February 7, telling Breitbart News Saturday that she will not sit there and listen to the 80-year-old commander in chief “continue to lie.”
“I will not be attending. I do not plan to show up to and listen to him continue to lie,” the congresswoman said, explaining that Biden’s “entire presidency has been filled with lie after lie.”
“And I’m not going to sit there and listen to him lie and then watch the media and other members of Congress applaud him his lies,” she said, listing a series of examples of Biden’s blunders — from lying about the border crisis to energy prices.
“Whether it’s the border, claiming that our border is secure while we are being invaded. 4. Franklin Graham Decries Church Capitulation on Homosexuality, Abortion (breitbart.com)
Prominent Evangelical pastor Franklin Graham has denounced the abandonment of biblical morality on human life and sexuality by many churches in recent times.
“Many churches today are being influenced by culture when it should be the other way around — the church should be influencing culture with the Word of God,” Rev. Graham noted Friday.
“There are denominations and many churches that have compromised on what God’s Word says about things such as homosexuality, marriage, and abortion,” he added.
As a counterexample, Graham praised the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, which recently adopted a statement on biblical sexuality that has critics up in arms.
The statement, which church members are required to endorse, declares that “God creates people in his image as either male or female, and that this creation is a fixed matter of human biology, not individual choice.”

5.EXCLUSIVE: House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan Officially Subpoenas Department Of Education Over School Boards Issue | The Daily Caller
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan officially subpoenaed the Department of Education on Friday, the Daily Caller has learned exclusively.
According to the subpoena, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona is “commanded” to produce documents before the Judiciary Committee on March 1, 2023, at 9 a.m. ET. The subpoena comes as Jordan sent four letters to various officials Friday, calling for information and interviews the committee has been requesting, in a final warning shot before he sent the subpoena their way.
The Daily Caller first obtained the letters, which were sent to Chip Slaven, former Interim Executive Director and CEO of the National School Boards Association; Nina Jankowicz, former leader of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) “Disinformation Governance Board;” Viola Garcia with the National School Boards Association, and Jennifer Moore, the Executive Assistant Director for the Human Resources Branch at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In the letters, Jordan accuses each official of ignoring requests for transcribed interviews, as well as not providing the committee with the documents and information they previously requested. Jordan gives the officials one last chance to come before the committee before sending subpoenas to the officials.

6. DeSantis Admin Moves To Punish Florida Venue That Hosted ‘Sexually Explicit’ Drag Show Open To Kids | The Daily Wire
The administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) moved to revoke the liquor license of a Florida venue that hosted a “sexually explicit” drag show that was open to children, according to a complaint filed Friday.
The Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Foundation, a performance art center, had hosted a performance of “A Drag Queen Christmas” on December 28, an event which was advertised as being open to “all ages” despite warnings from the state of Florida about restricting attendance if the performance was sexually explicit.
After the show, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed an administrative complaint to revoke the venue’s liquor license after determining that the performance was explicit and that there were children present.
“Governor DeSantis stands to protect the innocence of children, and the governor always follows through when he says he will do something,” DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin said in a statement to Florida’s Voice News.

7. Shrinking Colorado River hands Biden his first climate brawl - POLITICO
A fracas among the seven states along the drought-stricken Colorado River is forcing the first major reckoning for the Biden administration over who should bear the pain of adapting to a changing climate.
At issue is whether it’s fair to use century-old rules, created during an era of relative abundance, to ration water from the rapidly shriveling river now that the West is on the precipice of climate disaster. With California and its six neighbors locked in a dispute over two competing approaches to divvying up the cuts in water deliveries, whatever the administration decides will almost certainly end up in court.
The dispute is an early glimpse of the type of fights the U.S. will face as the warming climate supercharges drought, wildfires, storms and floods, forcing wrenching choices over which communities get protected. Those decisions pose a political minefield — something President Joe Biden’s Interior Department is learning from the fight over the West’s most important river, which is creating existential risks for some of the country’s most economically and politically powerful states and industries.

8. Vaxxed Army pilot denied promotion, while alleged military clinic sexual harasser keeps job | Just The News
A vaccinated Army pilot, who was reprimanded after his initial hesitation to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, is still being denied promotion and might not be able to retire, while a woman who allegedly sexually harassed him at a military medical clinic retains her employment.
Jessica Hill-Budge, the wife of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Brandon Budge in the 7th Infantry Division's 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, told Just the News on Thursday that her husband is still being denied promotion due to his initial hesitancy about getting the COVID vaccine and may be unable to retire next year — despite the rescinding of the military's vaccine mandate.
Shortly before Budge got the vaccine, a medic at the Winder Family Medicine Clinic, part of the Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., falsified his records without his knowledge to show that he had received the COVID vaccine. Budge was investigated over the falsified records, but the investigation, which concluded in November 2021, didn't consider his evidence or witness testimony, according to his wife.
In December 2021, Budge received a General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMOR) for behavior unbecoming of an officer after getting a "flag" (Suspend Favorable Personnel Actions) in a referred Officer Evaluation Report. The "flag" prevents Budge from receiving a promotion or retiring, and the following February, when Budge was due to receive a promotion to Chief Warrant Officer 4, he was denied.

9. House bill rescinding $71B for 87k IRS agents stalled in Senate after nearly 4 weeks without vote | Just The News
A House-passed bill rescinding $71.5 billion for the hiring of up to 87,000 IRS agents has languished in the Democrat-led Senate for nearly four weeks without a vote.
The funding was part of the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that Democrats passed last year.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pledged to schedule a vote to eliminate the funding as his first order of business in the new, Republican-led House. The GOP bill passed along party lines on Jan. 9.
Republicans have argued the funding could be used to target Americans earning less than $400,000 per year with additional audits. In response to the criticism, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen wrote to the IRS instructing the agency not to use additional resources to target individuals or families in that category.
"Instead, new funding will crack down on tax evaders among the wealthy and large corporations, invest in technology upgrades that help taxpayers, and hire more customer support staff to prevent backlogs," the Treasury Department said in a statement in August.

10. Trump Responds After Anonymous Official Claims Chinese Spy Balloons Flew Over US on His Watch (theepochtimes.com)
Former President Donald Trump responded to claims that Chinese regime spy balloons entered U.S. airspace during his administration, saying such alleged events “never happened.”
An anonymous U.S. Defense Department official said over the weekend that spy balloons transited over U.S. territory under the Trump administration. But Trump, in a Fox News interview on Sunday, pushed back.
“This never happened. It would have never happened,” Trump told the outlet, adding that the Chinese regime “respected us greatly” under his leadership. “It never happened with us under the Trump administration and if it did, we would have shot it down immediately,” added Trump. “It’s disinformation.”
Before the balloon was shot down, Trump on his social media platform Truth Social had called for the U.S. military to shoot down the balloon last week after it was spotted near Billings, Montana.
“Now they are putting out that a Balloon was put up by China during the Trump Administration, in order to take the ‘heat’ off” the Biden administration, Trump wrote Sunday. “China had too much respect for ‘TRUMP’ for this to have happened, and it NEVER did.”

Red Balloons Go By

The controversy over the Chinese spy balloons has reduced itself to a Democrat mob pointing fingers at former president Trump, saying the spy balloons were over the US when he was president. Trump denies it and said that if there were any Chinese spy balloons flying over, he would have shot them down immediately—not waiting days upon days of a potential national security threat looming over the American public like Joe Biden did. Interesting that the idea that Chinese spy balloons floated over the US during Trump first came from an unnamed source in the Biden Defense Department. This has sparked a “he said, they said” debate in the news media. But this is just a smokescreen for the larger issue.
An unnamed Biden Administration defense official “confirmed” to Fox News that Chinese spy balloons floated over the US at least three times during the Trump administration, but knowledge of the balloons remained undetected until after Trump left office. This is a wildly irresponsible job of reporting. Of course, a deep state Biden Administration official is going to say that. The idea is to further degrade Trump while deflecting any ineptitude by Biden. And the media goes right along with it. Notwithstanding credible named sources in the Trump Administration—Defense Secretary Mark Esper, National Security Advisor John Bolton, White House National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, and Director of National Intelligence Jon Ratcliffe—all denied Chinese spy balloons flew over the US during the Trump Administration. The dome and eastern wall of the historical Şirvani Mosque located next to the castle also partially collapsed, according to a Turkish news agency.
The earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday has badly damaged Gaziantep Castle, a historic site and tourist attraction in southeastern Turkey.
The castle collapsed during the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck in the early hours of Monday, Feb. 6.
"Some of the bastions in the east, south and southeast parts of the historical Gaziantep Castle in the central Şahinbey district were destroyed by the earthquake, the debris was scattered on the road," Turkish state-run news agency Anadolu reported.
"The iron railings around the castle were scattered on the surrounding sidewalks. The retaining wall next to the castle also collapsed. In some bastions, large cracks were observed," the report said.
The dome and eastern wall of the historical Şirvani Mosque, which is located next to the castle and is said to have been built in the 17th century, also partially collapsed, it added.

A massive earthquake has hit Turkey and northern Syria at 4 am their time, when many were at home asleep.
- Pray for the search and rescue teams
- Ask the Lord to send ministering angels to assist in all ways
- Pray for those who grieve, those who can’t reach loved ones, and those who have lost their homes and everything.
- Ask the Lord to rush in and visit many people through dreams, visions, and angelic visitations.
- They are having a winter storm right now, and the temperatures are going to drop even lower in the next few days.
Pray for the thousands of people standing outside and subzero temperatures in their pajamas.
- They are expecting more aftershocks in the area in the coming days. Pray for miraculous, deliverance and protection.

Former gay atheist, Becket Cook, is best known for trading his successful Hollywood lifestyle for a new identity in Jesus Christ. And he recently opened up about another "supernatural" part of his faith journey that led him to God. In 2019, Becket shared about his "Damascus Road" conversion that took him from gay Hollywood elite to devoted Christian 13 years ago.
