US military shoots down Chinese spy balloon over Atlantic Ocean
|
|
The U.S. military has shot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic Ocean.
While the balloon was off the coast of South Carolina, the balloon was shot down by the U.S. military on Saturday afternoon, according to Fox News sources.
A senior defense official said during a Thursday afternoon briefing that the U.S. government is "confident" the surveillance balloon is from the People's Republic of China.
When asked about the balloon on Saturday by a reporter, Biden said "we're going to take care of it."
A senior U.S. official told Fox News on Saturday that the government was considering a plan to shoot the balloon down while it's over the Atlantic Ocean where it wouldn't harm any individuals on the ground.
The official added that the U.S. government could potentially recover the balloon. (Fox News) Read more here.

China Spy Balloon Shows Country is Preparing Citizens for War That Could Come at "Any Time"

A Chinese spy balloon flying over U.S. airspace in Montana signals that the country is preparing its citizens for war, an expert on U.S. and China relations told Fox News Digital.
"The #ChineseSpyBalloon shows us that #China is preparing to go to war," Gordon Chang, a columnist and author who has written several books on China, tweeted on Friday following the discovery of a Chinese surveillance balloon over Montana the day before.
"We know what the Chinese are doing," Chang explained. "They’re engaged in the fastest military buildup since the Second World War. They’re trying to sanctions-proof their regime, and most ominously they’re preparing China’s civilians for war."
Chang pointed to a recent move from Chinese President Xi Jinping shortly after he was appointed to his precedent breaking third term as General Secretary at the National Congress in October, when he appointed what is being referred to as the "war cabinet."
"China is preparing to go to war," Chang, author of "The Coming Collapse of China," said. "It’s engaged in extremely provocative and dangerous activities around its periphery, and war could come at any time and at any place."
Chang told Fox News Digital that decades of inaction to combat Chinese aggression in Taiwan and the South China Sea and across the globe have created an atmosphere where China does not fear repercussions for acts of aggression, such as the spy balloon that has been floating over the United States for days. House Republicans Introduce Bill to Nullify FDA Rule Change on Abortion Pills
|
|
A group of House Republicans have introduced a bill to place restrictions on chemical abortion pills. If enacted, access to abortion pills would be limited to in-person distribution.
The legislation would nullify recent rule changes from President Joe Biden’s Food and Drug Administration that allows the abortion drug regimen of mifepristone and misoprostol to be prescribed to women via telemedicine and delivered by mail, and gives pharmacies permission to fill prescriptions for abortion drugs.
“The FDA’s policy change for mifepristone is the latest example of President Biden’s crusade toward abortion on demand at any cost, even at the expense of women’s health,” Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R-Tenn., told The Daily Signal.
The pro-life bill would also prevent the FDA from creating a similar rule change in the future.
Harshbarger introduced the bill Tuesday along with 13 other members of the Republican Study Committee, including the committee’s chairman, Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla.
Because of the risk of possible “life-threatening complications” associated with abortion drugs, Harshbarger said, “every woman in America deserves to know the heightened risks involved with chemical abortions before they make a life-altering decision.”
“My bill restores commonsense and proper safety prescriber requirements for the dispensing of these dangerous abortion drugs,” the Tennessee lawmaker added. (Daily Signal) Read more here.

House Oversight Committee hits ground running as GOP ushers in new era of priorities
|
|
Republican leaders on the House Oversight Committee have hit the ground running, announcing a slew of investigations and hearings as the GOP ushers in a new era of legislative priorities.
The House Oversight Committee is led by Chairman James Comer (R-KY), who is tasked with steering the panel of some of the party’s most hard-line members who have pledged far-reaching investigations into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Since being selected as committee chairman in December, Comer has wasted no time setting an agenda and initiating several inquiries into the Biden administration.
Comer has vowed to use the Oversight Committee to investigate the crisis at the southern border, the Biden administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2021, among other things.

1. Netanyahu: ‘We Heard a Clear Threat to the Life of Israel’s Prime Minister’ - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday evening reacted to online threats to his life saying that “all lines are being crossed” and urging law enforcement to act against incitement.
Netanyahu’s comments on his way back to Israel from his trip to France come in response to a Facebook post by a former air force pilot and anti-Netanyahu protest figure Ze’ev Raz. In his Friday post, that came prior to another large-scale protest against the judicial reform, he wrote that if a leader acts “in a dictatorial way, there’s an obligation to kill them.”
If a prime minister stands up and assumes dictatorial powers for himself, he is a dead man, it’s as simple as that,” Raz added without mentioning Netanyahu’s name.
The post sparked online backlash and was later deleted. In a statement issued late Saturday, police said they had opened an investigation on “suspicion of incitement and threats.” Netanyahu condemned the threats as a “real danger to democracy.” (Read more)

2. The major demolition that may ignite eastern Jerusalem - Israel National News
The police are preparing to demolish a structure that houses about 100 residents in the Wadi Qadum neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem, Kan 11 is reporting.
The demolition was delayed for years, due to foreign pressure, among other things. Security officials warn that executing the demolition during a time that is already tense can bring to a round of violence in the capital.
The demolition operation, which is expected to take place on Tuesday or Wednesday, will include over 500 police officers and will take over 24 hours. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir told Kan News, "We need to enforce the law, that's my policy." (Read more)

3. UN envoy: Israel and Palestinian violence at critical point - BBC
In a BBC interview, Tor Wennesland called for "firm" diplomatic intervention to stem the bloodshed.
He also warned of further deterioration due to declining international support for the Palestinian Authority (PA).
"The UN cannot take over this responsibility, we cannot govern Palestine," he said.
In the last month, more than 35 Palestinians and seven Israelis have been killed, following a year of spiralling violence involving near-nightly Israeli military search and arrest raids and a spate of Palestinian attacks.
It comes with the most radically nationalist government in Israel's history now in power, which has declared the principle of "exclusive" Jewish rights to all the land. (Read more)

4. Israeli forces said to arrest senior Islamic Jihad member in the West Bank - Times of Israel
Israeli troops arrested a senior member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group in a northern West Bank early on Sunday, Palestinian media reports said.
In overnight raids, Israeli forces detained Khader Adnan in his hometown village of Arrabeh, southwest of Jenin, the reports said, citing the Palestinian Prisoner’s Media Office, a group that represents Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
The Israel Defense Forces said troops detained seven wanted Palestinians in overnight raids across the West Bank, including two in Arrabeh and the nearby village of Aja, but did not name Adnan. (Read more)

The security headquarters (CWA) of the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement this weekend joined the security unit of the Educational Affairs Division in issuing a rare global warning to Chabad centers around the world.
The warning came in response to threats by the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization which announced plans to attack synagogues.
“In recent days, several threats from the ISIS organization to carry out attacks against various targets in the world, with an emphasis on synagogues, have been published in several media outlets around the world,” the message reads. (Read more)

1. Leaders at 2023 International Religious Freedom Summit Say 'China Poses Greatest Threat' to Religious Freedom - Christian Headlines
According to CBN News, the annual event, which ran from Jan 31-Feb 1, included world leaders, activists and lawmakers from both sides of the political spectrum.
"The United States must continue to be a voice for the voiceless who are persecuted for their beliefs," Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX) said during the opening session of the IRF Summit.
"In our very diverse world, unless the right to religious freedom exists for everyone, it doesn't truly exist for anyone," said Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA).
Both McCaul and McGovern served as honorary congressional co-chairs of the event and warned of the increasing religious persecution worldwide.
"Countries where religious freedoms are under attack are often countries where repression and instability are the norm," McGovern noted.

2. National windchill record set in New Hampshire as cold weather begins to ease up across the Northeast - CNN
A life-threatening cold spell began to ease its grip on the northeastern United States on Saturday, but only after a new national windchill record was set in New Hampshire.
The record was set at Mount Washington Friday night when it felt like minus 108° F thanks to a temperature of minus 46° F and wind gusts of 127 mph.
Wind chill records are not historically tracked as closely as temperature records, but the mark would beat what most meteorologists believe to be the US record (minus 105° F in Alaska). The prior record for Mount Washington was minus 102.7° F in 2004.
Early Saturday, about 15 million people in the United States were under wind chill alerts, but that number dropped to less than 1 million by midday as the extreme cold began to wrap up. The majority of the remaining wind chill alerts will end by 7 p.m. ET Saturday as temperatures begin to stabilize and winds die down.
Temperatures will rebound 5 to 10 degrees above normal on Sunday. (Read more)

The latest Left Behind film, Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist, surpassed the $3 million mark at the box office after opening in theaters nationwide on January 26.
"The reaction to this film has been overwhelming," actor and director Kevin Sorbo told The Christian Post in a statement.
"After millions of people vanish and the world falls into chaos, the only light is a charismatic leader who rises to become head of the U.N. But does he bring hope for a better future? Or is it the end of the world?" the film's synopsis reads.
In addition to surpassing the $3 million mark, the movie finished seventh overall at the box office last week. The film aims to show that current events are a precursor to the "return of Christ and the coming apocalypse."

4. Prosecutors drop charges against woman arrested for praying outside abortion clinic - Christian Post
The Crown Prosecution Servicein the United Kingdom has dropped charges against a pro-life activist arrested for praying silently outside an abortion clinic but has left the door open to additional prosecution for the same offense in the future.
The nonprofit legal organization ADF UK announced in a statement Friday that prosecutors have informed pro-life activist Isabel Vaughn-Spruce that they have dismissed charges against her for peacefully praying outside of an abortion clinic in Birmingham, England. However, they also told her that charges "may well start again" if they receive new evidence related to the case. She intends to pursue a clear verdict in court.
Vaughn-Spruce's arrest followed the city of Birmingham's implementation of a Public Space Protection Order prohibiting people from "protesting, namely engaging in any act of approval or disapproval or attempted act of approval or disapproval, with respect to issues related to abortion services, by any means" in the area surrounding the BPAS Robert Clinic in Kings Norton, Birmingham. The order identified prayer as one of the activities banned by the order. (Read more)

5. MIT Expert Calls for Immediate Stop of mRNA COVID Jabs: Evidence Shows ‘Unprecedented Level of Harm’ - The Epoch Times
The rollout of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines should be immediately suspended, as they are causing “an unprecedented level of harm, including the death of young people and children,” said Retsef Levi, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
“This is not a theory anymore,” the professor told The Epoch Times, referring to findings that link the messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines with myocarditis, a potentially fatal inflammation of the heart. “These are proven facts that basically undermine any sense of safety about these vaccines.”
“At this point in time, all COVID mRNA vaccination programs should stop immediately,” he said in the six-and-half-minute video statement, which went viral with at least 1.5 million views in just a day.
“By now, I believe that the cumulative evidence is conclusive and confirms our concern that the mRNA vaccines indeed cause sudden cardiac arrest as a sequel of vaccine-induced myocarditis. And this is potentially only one mechanism by which they cause harm,” the professor said, pointing to his analysis of the Israel national emergency services data, which suggested a 25 percent increase in the cause of “cardiac arrest diagnosis” among Israeli youth in the first half of 2021, exactly when the government launched a massive vaccination campaign. “Data from the UK, Scotland, and Australia replicate the data from Israel.” (Read more)

6. Judge Wants Answers After Jan. 6 Defendant Reverses Himself, Proclaims Innocence - The Epoch Times
A U.S. judge is demanding answers from lawyers representing a defendant after the man proclaimed he was innocent one day after admitting he entered the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in violation of federal law.
U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta on Feb. 3 gave the defense and prosecutors one week to explain why he shouldn’t act following a published interview of Thomas Adams Jr., the defendant.
Adams told the State Journal-Register that he wouldn’t change anything he did on Jan. 6, adding: “I didn’t do anything. I still to this day, even though I had to admit guilt, don’t feel like I did what the charge is.”
The comments on Feb. 1 came one day after attorneys for Adams reached an agreement on facts in the case with prosecutors. In the agreement, the parties agreed that the government would show that Adams entered the U.S. Capitol through a breached door without authorization and made his way to the Senate chamber before being escorted out of the building by law enforcement officers. Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., told Fox News that the Chinese surveillance balloon fell right off the coast of his district near his hometown and that he's "incredibly concerned" about why it took days to handle.
REP. RUSSELL FRY: We haven't been told much, honestly. It fell right above my hometown. We're kind of in the dark a little bit. I think the American people are in the dark. Why was it allowed to go clear across the country for so many days? You look at this — national security is one of the biggest things that the country can do. It is a core function of government, so I think for us in Congress and I think for the American people, there are a lot more questions than answers at this point.
I think the American people are owed answers. I mean, you look at this when it was discovered by a local press outlet in Montana, it was monitored for days. The White House was completely quiet on it for the most part about what was going on, what the response was going to be, and look, China's one of our biggest adversaries. To see this, when people looked up in the sky when I was driving around earlier, you know, people were pulled over to the side of the road, they were pulling out their camera phones — a lot of intrigue about this. Protecting female sports from biological male athletes is a Republican priority in the 2023 legislative session, Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., said at an event celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday.
“It’s not a partisan issue,” said House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who moderated a panel of female high school and college athletes in the Rayburn Room of the U.S. Capitol. “It’s a fairness issue.”

The Satanic Temple Opens Ritualistic Abortion Clinic

The Satanic Temple isn’t just promoting the killing of unborn babies in abortions anymore. It’s actually killing them through a new “religious” abortion practice in New Mexico.
On Wednesday, the satanic group launched a new “religious medical services arm,” TST Health, to begin doing abortions. The Satanic Temple believes aborting unborn babies is a religious “ritual” and compares it to communion or baptism for Christians.
The name of its first “telehealth” abortion practice doubles as a covert death wish to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade last year.
The Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic in New Mexico will offer abortion drugs to women ages 17 and up who are up to 11 weeks of pregnancy, according to Fox News. …
“In 1950, Samuel Alito’s mother did not have options, and look what happened,” said Malcolm Jarry, co-founder of The Satanic Temple, in a statement. “Prior to 1973, doctors who performed abortions could lose their licenses and go to jail. The clinic’s name serves to remind people just how important it is to have the right to control one’s body and the potential ramifications of losing that right.”
According to a press release from the group, “anyone in New Mexico seeking to perform The Satanic Temple’s abortion ritual will be able to receive free online medical services.”
The satanic group claims killing unborn babies in abortions is a religious ritual, and restricting it violates its “fundamental tenets,” according to an article on Glenn Beck’s website. (Read more)

God’s Strategy for SatanCon

Introduction:
SatanCon, touted as the world’s largest satanic gathering, will be held in Boston on April 28–30, 2023. IFA’s Massachusetts state prayer leaders asked the Lord what the prayer strategy should be. This has been confirmed in multiple ways and is consistent with the word of God.
Scottish-born-and-raised sisters Suzie and Lynne MacAskill both married Americans and relocated to Massachusetts. There, the Lord paved the way for them to answer the call to lead the IFA state prayer group. Suzie graciously shares here her prayer journal entries chronicling what the Lord has been showing to pray about the upcoming satanic conference. Not only do her journal entries provide an intercessory strategy for SatanCon, but also they demonstrate how to prayer journal and listen to the Lord.

When we learned about the upcoming SatanCon event, I assumed we would “pray this event out” so that it would never come to Boston. I was then wakened by what I felt was God saying, “This is My harvest field.”
On January 3, 2023, I journaled:
Lord, how do You want us to target SatanCon in prayer? What do You want us to do and pray for?
Interestingly, satanists believe in something — a rebellion against Me, usually because they’ve been deeply hurt, wounded by someone in authority above them, or they’ve allowed dangerous doors to be opened due to poor choices or naivete. But they are all My children. I don’t look at them and see the costumes, the makeup, their desperate attempts to repel; I look at them instead as My children who need to know how very deeply valued and loved they truly are.
I need My intercessors to rise up: Do NOT sit back and wait for someone else to pray this out. I need each person to wake up to what is happening in their state and raise a hallelujah to counter the darkness. Praise Me, glorify Me, remember how praise and worship leads the way for victory. GOP Reps Push Bill To Ban China From Buying US Farmland

Two Republican members of Congress introduced a bill Thursday that would prohibit nonresident aliens, companies and other entities associated with the Chinese government from buying agricultural land in the U.S.
Washington Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Dan Newhouse’s Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People’s Republic of China Act would also ban those interests’ participation in U.S. Agriculture Department (USDA) programs beyond food safety inspections, according to her press release. Chinese foreign investors held more than 191,000 acres of U.S. agricultural and non-agricultural land in 2019, the USDA indicated.
Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mayor Brandon Bochenski announced an effort Tuesday to stop China’s Fufeng Group from building a corn mill on 370 acres purchased in his city not far from Grand Forks Air Force Base, according to The Wall Street Journal. Bochenski and other local leaders had celebrated the project when the Fufeng Group’s decision to build in Grand Forks was publicized in 2021, but Air Force Assistant Secretary Andrew Hunter said Jan. 27 the Defense Department believed it presented “a significant threat to national security,” the WSJ reported. Mount Washington as cold as Mars with record-breaking
wind chills of 110 below zero

This cold is out of this world.
New Hampshire’s Mount Washington felt more like Mars than planet Earth on Friday as wind chills dipped below an unfathomable minus 110 degrees, a new record for the coldest wind chill ever recorded in the US.
Known for having some of the world’s worst weather, Mount Washington saw air temperatures plummet to minus 46 degrees with wind speeds averaging over 100 miles per hour with gusts over 125 miles per hour as the artic air mass wreaked havoc Friday, according to the Mount Washington observatory.
Visibility atop the mountain was less than one-sixteenth of a mile — or just over 100 yards.
Meanwhile on Mars, temperatures on the surface this week reached a balmy high of 16 degrees with a low of minus 105, according to NASA. The space agency said temperatures of the red planet can fluctuate between minus 225 and 70 degrees. Read More

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds Takes on ‘Woke Agenda,’
‘Indoctrination’ After Massive School Choice Victory

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) scored a major legislative victory last week, ushering into law one of the nation’s most sweeping school choice plans. Reynolds spoke with CBN’s Faithwire on Friday and explained why she’s passionate about bringing school choice to the students and families in her state. “I believe parents should be able to decide what is the best environment for their child to be everything that they can be,” she said, explaining why so many parents have become more active in their children’s education. “COVID really put a fine point on that, because it gave parents a front-row seat to what was happening in their child’s classroom. And … a lot of them didn’t like what they were seeing.”
Reynolds made education reform a top administrative priority, championing the new law allowing parents to use public funding to send their children to private schools if they so choose. She believes her plan will make a significant difference in the lives of parents, kids, and families. “The bottom line is: all parents, not just a few, should have the opportunity to choose and have that choice, whether it’s faith-based, or academic, or whatever that may be,” Reynolds said. “That parent, as long as it’s in an accredited private school, should have the opportunity to make that choice.”
The plan, which the governor said is the “most aggressive” in the U.S., will become universal over the next three years. Each student will be entitled to around $7,600 per year, which will be available in an educational savings account. The sum is based on the cost of public school per pupil. Reynolds responded to critiques from union leaders like Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, who likened this plan to “schemes to funnel taxpayers’ money to the wealthy few.” Some warn the plan could damage public education. The governor dismissed such claims, stating the pushback is centered on worries the law threatens teachers’ unions’ existence.
“And how ridiculous this is? The same individual that fought and fought and fought to keep our kids out of the classroom … as late as the summer of 2021, they were still advocating for kids not to be in the classroom,” she said, speaking of Weingarten. “I can’t think of a person that’s done more for school choice than Randy Weingarten and the crazy things that she’s done. She’s like our biggest advocate.” Reynolds said Weingarten has “mobilized parents across the country” due to her handling of the “woke agenda, the indoctrination, the sex education that they’re bringing into the school system.” (Faithwire.com) Read More Here.
