Hospitals suspend sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers for kids after Trump's order
Hospitals in Virginia, Colorado and Washington, D.C., suspended body-altering interventions for minors confused about their sex in response to President Donald Trump's executive order that seeks to ban federal funding for the "chemical and surgical mutilation" of children. Denver Health in Colorado and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health and the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU are just a few hospitals in the nation that have announced a suspension of so-called "gender-affirming care." The Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., also announced a pause in the prescription of puberty blockers and hormone-suppressing drugs for trans-identified youth patients. The hospital said it already did not perform sex-change surgeries on minors.

Trump issued an executive order Tuesday titled "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation," calling for the removal of federal funding from medical schools and hospitals that condone life-altering, experimental treatments for gender dysphoric children. The word "children" in the order refers to individuals under 19 years of age. In addition to ending federal funding of so-called "gender-affirming care," the order instructed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to publish a review of the existing literature on "best practices" for helping children experiencing gender dysphoria or confusion about their identity. - HALLELUJAH! Lord we are grateful for news of hospitals suspending body-altering surgeries on the young to comply with President Trump's executive order, to protect children from surgical mutilation. We also lift praise for his directive in the releasing of medical-literature revealing conservative approaches on assisting children experiencing gender dysphoria. Abba, we thank You for answered prayer in the protection of our younger generations and the prescription for common-sense medicine and behavioral therapy to protect young minds and growing bodies. We declare Your righteousness will continue to spread across America as our nation is being realigned to biblical ways!  In the mighty and powerful Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord-Amen.

Trump Signs Orders to Impose Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, China

President Donald Trump has signed orders to impose 25 percent tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico and an additional 10 percent levy on goods from China.

Trump said the tariffs were imposed via the International Emergency Economic Powers Act “because of the major threat of illegal aliens and deadly drugs killing our citizens, including fentanyl.”

“We need to protect Americans, and it is my duty as President to ensure the safety of all. I made a promise on my Campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across our Borders, and Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of it,” Trump posted on Truth Social after signing the orders Saturday evening.

The tariffs are to come into effect on Feb. 4.

The White House noted in a statement that “Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 45.”

“Today’s tariff announcement is necessary to hold China, Mexico, and Canada accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the United States,” the White House said on Saturday evening.

After weeks of speculating, the White House imposed the taxes in retaliation for “the illegal fentanyl that they have sourced and allowed to distribute into our country,” said Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Trump Signs Deregulation Order to
‘Unleash Prosperity’
For every new federal regulation agencies propose, 10 must be cut from the Federal Register, according to the new rules.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Jan. 31 directing agencies to limit the number of regulations they impose and eliminate 10 existing policies for every new rule enacted.

“This practice is to ensure that the cost of planned regulations is responsibly managed and controlled through a rigorous regulatory budgeting process,” Trump wrote.

Titled “Unleashing Prosperity Through Deregulation,” the order is intended to remove regulatory obstacles to growth.

“The ever-expanding morass of complicated federal regulation imposes massive costs on the lives of millions of Americans, creates a substantial restraint on our economic growth and ability to build and innovate, and hampers our global competitiveness,” the order reads.

Deregulation is needed, the president wrote, because many businesses and consumers find the rules difficult to understand.

There are currently more than 200,000 federal regulations, according to the National Archives. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.
- Father, we thank You for these new rules that will drop unnecessary regulations, and grant freedom to businesses to innovate and move forward. We ask that these actions achieve their intended purpose, and that all officials find Your truth in all that they do.

Fiery Plane Crash in Philadelphia Kills 7, Death Toll Expected to Rise

A medical transport plane carrying a child patient crashed in a Philadelphia neighborhood, killing all six onboard and one on the ground.

Seven people were killed—including one on the ground—when a medical transport jet crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood on the night of Jan. 31, officials said in a Feb. 1 morning update, warning that the death toll could rise as investigators and responders work through the devastation.

The plane—a Learjet 55 operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance—was carrying a child patient, her mother, and four others when it plunged to the ground shortly after takeoff and exploded.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker confirmed in a Feb. 1 statement that all six people on board the plane died and one more perished on the ground.

“At least 19 treated at multiple area hospitals. Investigation active and ongoing,” Parker stated. “Much more work remains to be done. Please stay home and safe.”

Adam Thiel, the city’s managing director, said it could be days before authorities are able to give a full account of the dead and injured, saying that it’s “entirely possible” the death toll could rise.

All six people aboard were from Mexico. The child patient on board had been treated in Philadelphia for a life-threatening condition and was being transported home, according to Jet Rescue spokesperson Shai Gold. After a scheduled stop in Missouri, the flight’s final destination was to be Tijuana. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

There was a significant decline in the growth rate of the population in 2024, which dropped from 1.6% in 2023 to 1.1%, according to Knesset and Central Bureau of Statistics data.

This drop is mostly due to the significant increase in emigration that followed the “complex security situation,” the Knesset report, published on Sunday, said.

Some 82,700 people left the country in 2024 and only 23,800 returned.

2. 5 Christian Leaders Share Their Thoughts on the American Airlines Plane Crash - Crosswalk (Excerpts)

1. Greg Laurie, Author and Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship

"Our hearts are broken for the families who are now facing this devastating loss. Let's lift up these grieving families in prayer and also remember the first responders, who continue their incredibly difficult task of recovery. In times like this, we often ask, 'Why did God allow this to happen?' To that question, I don't have an answer. But I do know who we can turn to -- Jesus. In moments of sorrow and uncertainty, He is our source of comfort, strength, and hope.

"May God bring peace to those who are mourning. And may this tragedy remind us all of the brevity of life. None of us are promised tomorrow, which is why we must be ready for eternity. As Scripture says, 'Prepare to meet your God' (Amos 4:12).

3. Calif. Church Destroyed by Fire Finds Strength in a Standing Cross - Crosswalk

Members of a modest California church destroyed by the Los Angeles Eaton fire are drawing strength from their faith and hope from the lone remaining structure still standing on the site of their former building: a cross. The Lifeline Fellowship Christian Center on Lake Avenue in Altadena, Calif., was one of thousands of structures destroyed by the Eaton Fire, which ignited Jan. 7 amid strong winds and raced more than 10,000 acres before it was contained

Members of the congregation now are meeting at a different church building about two miles away as they await the next steps to rebuild, Fox News Digital reported.

Their faith, though, is still strong. Amid the ashes and charred rubble of what once was their building, a purple and white cross stands as a testament to the loving God they serve.

"The cross still stands," Pastor Charles Dorsey told Fox News.

"It did give me hope, and I felt strength. And I was happy that the cross still stands because it's the work of the cross that we are able to be forgiven. It's the love of the cross, the work on the cross, that we're able to be redeemed. And it signifies our existence and how we're able to even have strength in the midst of sorrow. (Read more)

A team of U.S. military veterans reported leading a successful mission this week to rescue an American missionary family from gang violence in Haiti. Project DYNAMO—which describes itself as a veteran-led, donor-funded, international rescue nonprofit group—claimed credit for extracting the family by airplane on Monday.

The Ennis family faced extreme danger while in Haiti. A local gang had decapitated a man outside the Ennis’ mission days before their rescue, Project DYNAMO wrote in a news release Tuesday. The Daily Jot

Life for Life

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, February 3, 2025

Belief in Jesus’ crucifixion, death and resurrection and repentance of sin leads to eternal life in Christ. As is stated in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, so that everyone believing in Him should not perish, but should have eternal life.” The depth of this commitment by us and the gift of eternal life is more than just belief, it requires us to be born again as a new person. The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” This miracle of eternal life was the redemption plan from the beginning–life for life.

Before the last plague the LORD was to unleash on Egypt, the Israelite people were to select a defect-free lamb (or goat) to be sacrificed, and apply it’s blood to the lintel and doorposts of their homes so that the LORD would “pass over” them and spare their firstborn. The roasted meat of the sacrifice was to be eaten with unleavened bread (matzah) and bitter herbs to signify the bitterness of slavery, and the haste in which the Israelites were delivered from bondage. The LORD then commanded the Israelites to observe the seven day “Festival of Matzah” in memory of the Exodus from Egypt for future generations. Read More

Rubio Demands Panama Reduce Chinese Influence Over Canal or US Will Act

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio kicked off his trip to Latin America by meeting with Panamanian leaders, pressing them to urgently address the Chinese regime’s influence over the region. The top U.S. diplomat shared his national security concerns with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha in a Panama City meeting on Feb. 2.

Rubio told them that President Donald Trump has determined that “the current position of influence and control of the Chinese Communist Party over the Panama Canal area is a threat to the canal,” according to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

Rubio called the status quo “unacceptable” and said the United States will “take measures necessary” unless there are “immediate changes,” according to Bruce.

The talks marked Rubio’s first overseas trip since assuming the post less than two weeks ago. The trip, which includes stops in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, also marks the first time in a century that a U.S. secretary of state has made Latin America the first official destination, reflecting a U.S. desire to counter rising Chinese diplomatic encroachment in the region.

The United States spent a decade building the Panama Canal, which connects the Caribbean Sea with the Pacific Ocean. In 1999, under a 1977 treaty, Panama took control of the 51-mile-long waterway.

Rubio, a longtime China hawk, has warned that Beijing, which maintains tight control of companies based in Hong Kong, could exploit the ports’ control to shut down the canal in times of conflict with Washington. He told the Panamanian officials that such Chinese influence violates the neutrality treaty.

Mulino, who on Jan. 30 ruled out negotiations over canal ownership, told reporters after the meeting that the talks were very respectful and cordial and that the officials had talked at length to “clear up doubts” from the United States. The Chinese presence at the canal was among the most important topics in their discussions, he said.

He acknowledged the concerns from Washington and noted Panamanian authorities are auditing the Hong Kong port operator and that they will act accordingly based on their findings.

The Panamanian leader also suggested a possible expansion of an existing agreement from last July to assist with U.S. deportation efforts. The expanded deal could pave the way for direct deportations of illegal immigrants hailing from countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador who cross the Darien Gap jungle spanning the Colombia–Panama border, though Mulino said the United States would need to cover the cost. Panama pledges to end key canal deal with China, work with US after Rubio visit - Fox News

Panama's president vowed Sunday to end a key development deal with China after meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and after complaints from President Donald Trump that the Latin American country had ceded control over its critical shipping canal to Beijing.

José Raúl Mulino, Panama's president, said his nation's sovereignty over the 51-mile waterway, which connects the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, will remain unchanged. But he said he would not renew a 2017 memorandum of understanding to join China’s Belt and Road global development initiative and that Panama would instead look to work more closely with the U.S.  (Read more here.)

'Trump is right', NATO chief reacts to US claims on Greenland

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte agreed with US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland, particularly on the issue of defense, Bild reports.

"When it comes to defense in the Arctic, Trump is right. What I think is very good is that the Prime Minister of Denmark immediately began negotiations with President Trump. Essentially, it was about the high relevance of defense in the far north," he said.

According to Rutte, this applies not only to Greenland but also to Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Canada.

"We all need to work together to protect these territories. And Trump is right," emphasized the NATO Secretary General.

Trump's position on Greenland

US President Donald Trump had expressed his desire to buy Greenland during his first presidential term. After winning the 2024 presidential election, Trump has not abandoned this idea.

Recently, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed Trump's intentions regarding Greenland. According to him, Trump is seriously focused on buying Greenland, which is currently part of Denmark, and it is "his priority."

Meanwhile, NATO plans to offer a compromise to US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland. The Alliance hopes this will ease tensions surrounding the island discussions. (newsukraine.rbc.ua) Read more here.

Critical air safety system NOTAM goes down nationwide — as US reels from 2 plane crashes

Flights across the US could be delayed Sunday after the Federal Aviation Administration’s critical NOTAM warning system experienced an outage —mere days after two deadly plane crashes rocked the nation.

Notice to Air Missions — which relays important information about possible hazards to pilots and airports — went dark Saturday night, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy wrote on X.

“The primary NOTAM system is experiencing a temporary outage, but there is currently no impact to the National Airspace System because a backup system is in place,” he said, noting the agency activated its contingency systems to keep flight operations running.

Duffy added that the FAA was working to restore this system fully, but that “there may be some residual delays” going into Sunday morning.

According to data collected by FlightAware, there were nearly 500 delayed flights in the US, and a little over 60 cancellations early Sunday morning.

That information includes important communications such as runway closures, warnings about birds, or low-altitude construction obstacles.

The critical system is separate from air traffic control, which keeps planes a safe distance from each other.

Duffy did not say when officials expected the system to be up and running again. (New York Post) Read more here.
- Lord, this system is essential. We bind all interference from the enemy that caused these delays and difficulties. We ask that all systems be upgraded to a new level. We praise You for Secretary Duffy’s involvement and pray that You will grant him wisdom, knowledge, and understanding as he works to upgrade FAA systems and practices.

Emergency crews deployed on Santorini as earthquake swarm worries Greek experts
More than 200 earthquakes detected near Greek island of Santorini
  • More than 200 undersea earthquakes have been recorded near Aegean Sea islands, popular summer vacation destinations, over the past three days.
  • Local authorities are taking precautions, including deploying emergency crews, banning access to some seaside areas near cliffs and instructing hotels to drain swimming pools.
  • Greek experts say the quakes are not linked to Santorini’s volcano, which was the source of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in human history more than 3,500 years ago.

Schools were closed and emergency crews deployed on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini on Monday after a spike in seismic activity raised concerns about a potentially powerful earthquake.

Precautions were also ordered on several nearby Aegean Sea islands — all popular summer vacation destinations — after more than 200 undersea earthquakes were recorded in the area over the past three days.
