Putin Recognizes Independence of Ukraine Separatist Regions
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Feb. 21 said that Russia recognizes the independence of the separatist Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine, which some Western officials say will give Moscow the pretext to send in troops.
Putin, in a lengthy speech, said he will “immediately recognize the sovereignty” of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics. On Feb. 21, the leaders of the two areas, which make up much of the Donbas, requested that Putin recognize their independence from Ukraine.
Before, in his speech, Putin suggested that Ukraine isn’t a real country and believes that it’s “ancient Russian lands.” The modern Ukrainian state, he alleged, was created by Soviet founder Vladimir Lenin, who ultimately separated Ukraine from the imperial Russian empire.
“Ukraine is not just a neighboring country for us, Ukraine is a part of our cultural space,” Putin said, suggesting that the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union caused Russia to be “robbed” of Ukraine. Now Ukraine is a “U.S. colony” with a “puppet regime” in charge, he said.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in response, said Putin’s declaration that he recognizes the two regions as independent is a breach of international law. 1. Israel Freedom Convoy persists amid media blackout and police crackdown - JNS
(February 20, 2022 / JNS) On Feb. 14, Israeli truckers gathered at Latrun, a historic battleground on the way from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The choice of location was more practical than symbolic; the lot near the adjacent gas station is large enough to accommodate the hundreds of trucks. Latrun was also the ideal midpoint for cars and motorcycles coming from the center of the country.
Accompanied by hardly any serious Israeli media coverage, the trucks went out, horns blazing, as part of a global movement inspired by Canada’s “Freedom Convoy” to demand an end to any and all COVID-related legislation. In Israel, this means an end to the “Special Powers Law” that grants the government extended powers during pandemics and is valid through 2022.
Without any place to park, most of the truckers simply drove through the capital. The organizers didn’t want participants breaking laws or getting fined. So thousands of people, from Tel Aviv “leftists” to right-wing “settlers,” converged on foot on Menorah Square, the grassy entrance to the Knesset, holding signs that read “Let Parents Decide” and “Green Pass = A Black Stain,” as protesters who looked like hippies beat drums as a battle-cry—and dance music. They marched and danced along Jerusalem streets and set up a tent city on the lawns surrounding the Knesset where they held lectures, mediations sessions and a musical Shabbat service.(Read more)
2. Gantz boycotts coalition votes, threatens survival of Bennett-led gov't - Jerusalem Post
Blue and White Party refuses to participate in Knesset votes due to disputes over pensions for IDF officers.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett invited Defense Minister Benny Gantz to his office at the Knesset where they are currently working on resolving a dispute that threatens Bennett's governing coalition.
The meeting ended without any conclusion after Gantz received word that coalition officials were accusing him of behaving in a childish manner. (Read more)
3. Saudi FM says Israeli normalization after 'just solution' to Palestinians - YNET News
Saudi Arabia will only normalize relations with Israel following a "just solution" to the Palestinian issue, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud told Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv.
"The priority now needs to be on finding a path for the Israelis and Palestinians to sit together to work on a peace process," the senior official said while attending the Munich Security Conference.
"This will certainly ease the way for all other Arab countries that haven't yet reached relations with Israel. But for it to happen, the focus needs to be on the Palestinian issue and finding a just resolution to it."
His comments reiterate Riyadh's long-standing support of Palestinian sovereignty and more recent interest in establishing diplomatic ties with the Jewish state after the Palestinian issue is resolved. (Read more)
4. Israel and Morocco Sign Trade Agreement - Jewish Press
Israel’s Minister of Economy and Industry Orna Barbivay signed an economic-commercial cooperation agreement on Monday with Morocco’s Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour, a bit over a year after the two countries announced the normalization of their relations.
The agreement regulates the trade between the countries and will facilitate exporters and importers, business delegations, and the establishment of a joint economic committee for the two countries that will promote the implementation of the clauses of the agreement.
Barbivay, who signed the agreement while in Morocco, stated that the agreement is “intended to bring about economic growth and prosperity for Israel and Morocco.”
Her office is working to increase bilateral trade between the economies from $131 million to $500 million in the next five years, she said. (Read more)
5. German Interior Minister Denounces ‘Antisemitic’ Pro-Palestinian Demonstrations in Berlin - Algemeiner
Germany’s interior minister has sharply condemned two pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Berlin on Saturday where participants chanted slogans advocating violence against the State of Israel.
“We are resolutely opposed to any form of antisemitism and hatred of the state of Israel,” Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told the Bild newspaper on Sunday. “There is no place for this in society and no tolerance [for it] whatsoever.”
At the first demonstration in the Kreuzberg district of the German capital, protestors chanted “Yalla intifada, from Hanau to Gaza!” The reference to “Hanau” concerned the mass shooting by a neo-Nazi of nine people who spent the evening of Feb. 20, 2020 in “shisha” bars in the town of Hanau, near Frankfurt. All of those murdered in the shocking spree came from immigrant backgrounds.
Faeser expressed anger at the mention of the Hanau atrocity at a demonstration vilifying the Jewish state. (Read more)
As a last-ditch diplomatic drive to prevent a full-scale war in Eastern Europe appeared to falter on Monday, New York officials sized up the possible local threats rippling from the expected Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Western leaders have warned that the invasion is on track to begin this week and could result in the largest war in Europe since World War II, a conflict all but certain to rattle markets and to yank the globe back into a new Cold War. (Read more)

Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.) said on Saturday that she would be introducing legislation that would grant temporary asylum to those involved in the Canadian trucker protests.
“Just as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world,” Herrell said in a statement on Twitter.
“I am introducing legislation that would temporarily grant asylum to innocent Canadian protesters who are being persecuted by their own government. We cannot be silent as our neighbors to the north are treated so badly,” she added.
- Lord, this woman’s heart is in the right place, but with Democrats and Jan 6 panickers involved, it is unlikely to be passed. We ask You to touch the hearts of all the Canadian truckers, and find ways to bless them despite their government actions.

Police aggressively pushed back protesters, took control of some trucks and advanced toward Parliament on Saturday after arresting more than 100 people and towing away vehicles in Canada’s besieged capital. Scores of trucks left under the increasing pressure, raising authorities’ hopes for an end to the three-week protest against the country’s COVID-19 restrictions.
Police in tactical gear quickly gained ground Saturday on the second full day of one of the biggest police enforcement actions in Canada’s history, with officers drawn from around the country. Overnight, authorities towed trucks from areas where they had taken control in Ottawa’s downtown core.
Authorities advanced to the front of Parliament Hill which has been occupied by trucks and protesters since late last month.
Ottawa police addressed the protesters in a tweet: “We told you to leave. We gave you time to leave. We were slow and methodical, yet you were assaultive and aggressive with officers and the horses. Based on your behaviour, we are responding by including helmets and batons for our safety.”
However, convoy organiser B.J. Dichter alleged on Friday that police were in fact “boxing in” protestors and “not allowing people to leave in peace”, accusing them of deliberately “escalating” the situation in order to guarantee mass arrests.

Security officials will reinstall fencing around the Capitol next week ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address, Fox News can confirm.
U.S. Capitol Police are bracing for a potential "Freedom Convoy" truck protest to Washington D.C. for the March 1 speech. "Freedom Convoy" truckers have been protesting in Canada for weeks against coronavirus restrictions and vaccine mandates and caused a temporary blockade of the busy Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Windsor and Detroit.
Capitol Police say they are "aware" of similar protests coming to Washington D.C. and are making plans to both "facilitate" First Amendment protest activity while working with law enforcement agencies and the D.C. National Guard to prepare for Biden's address.
"The United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service have been closely working together to plan for the upcoming State of the Union," the U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement Friday.

President Joe Biden and his deputies at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have dropped nearly all border protections for U.S. graduates, allowing a mass rush of Indian graduates to grab jobs from Fortune 500 companies, experts and foreign workers say.
“They’ve opened up everything,” said Jay Palmer, a civil rights, human trafficking, and immigration rights activist, who works with many of the foreign visa workers who are exploited by their U.S. employers. He continued: The administration has basically taken down all the checks and balances, and they opened the entire immigration platform for any [foreign gradaute] that wants to come in. White-Collar American graduates are going to be filing bankruptcy on their student loans.
The flood of foreign workers — mostly Indians — across the 50-state union line is growing the nation’s already-huge foreign workforce.
- Lord, we pray that You would stem the tide of foreign workers so that American graduates will be able to have decent paying jobs. We declare that there will be a return to a policy of “America First” quickly.

Recent internal polling from the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) showed swing voters across the county believe the party went too far on some of their policies regarding defunding the police, coronavirus restrictions, and border issues.
The DCCC polling, first reported by SFGate, showed that 80 percent of swing voters in competitive districts agree that “Democrats in Congress support defunding the police and taking more cops off of the street.” This comes as reports have shown crime has risen in cities across the county, including Washington, DC.
Additionally, the internal poll found that 66 percent of swing voters in competitive districts agree that “Democrats in Congress have taken things too far in their pandemic response.”
There was also 78 percent of swing voters in competitive districts who agree that “Democrats in Congress have created a border crisis that allows illegal immigrants to enter the country without repercussions and grants them tax-payer funded benefits once here."
- Lord, when even Democrat polling reveals the far left policies are not acceptable, it should make them understand that something is terribly wrong. We pray that You will reveal truth to all in the government and across society, and bring a fresh wind of repentance.

Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modeling agent accused of procuring over 1,000 women and girls for Jeffrey Epstein, was discovered hanging in his Paris prison cell Saturday morning while “security cameras were reportedly not working.”
The 76-year-old’s “apparent suicide” bears striking similarities to Epstein’s death in August of 2019, where “US authorities later said that ‘technical errors’ led to the CCTV footage of the convicted sex offender’s prison cell being lost,” the Daily Expressreports.
“A night patrol found his lifeless body at about 1am,” a source told the Daily Mail of Brunel’s death. “A judicial enquiry has been launched, and early evidence points to suicide.”
The Daily Express reports that the apparent suicide occurred in a section of the prison “where the security cameras were reportedly not working.”
“Brunel is thought to have been alone at the time of his death and there were no cameras to record his final hours, according to an investigating source at La Santé – one of the toughest jails in France,” Daily Mail reports.

Black women's groups and other advocacy organizations are laying the groundwork to boost President Biden’s forthcoming Supreme Court nominee and fend off Republican attacks against her.
Sources familiar with the organizing and mobilizing efforts revolving around the nominee say there are preparations underway to fundraise, advertise, provide media training and get the voices of Black women on the airwaves and in op-eds in newspapers around the country.
The efforts will also include grassroots and social media mobilizing and organization to show support for the pick.

There may be plenty of reasons to confirm President Joe Biden’s nominees to the Federal Reserve, but economists say concern that the central bank won’t act to rein in inflation shouldn’t be among them.
It is virtually guaranteed that the Fed will hike interest rates next month to combat rising prices even if Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa Cook and Philip Jefferson are yet to be confirmed by the Senate, according to three economists who spoke with CNBC.
The Fed is “going to raise rates in March,” said Jason Furman, who served as chair of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama administration. “The only question is, do they raise by 25 basis points or 50 basis points?”
The White House and top Democrats have in recent days raised concerns that without a fully staffed Fed board of governors, the central bank will lose its edge on rising prices. But economists suggested the urgency behind that messaging is politically motivated and that the Fed’s chances to quell inflation aren’t tied to this confirmation process.

Two U.S. agencies have been quietly studying neurological problems that have appeared in people who have had COVID-19 vaccines, The Epoch Times has found.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) have been conducting separate research projects into post-vaccination neurological issues, which have manifested with symptoms like facial paralysis and brain fog and have been linked in some cases with the vaccines, according to emails reviewed by The Epoch Times.
One attempt to gain understanding of a problem that experts around the world are struggling to understand is being carried out by Dr. Janet Woodcock, who was acting commissioner of the FDA until Feb. 17.

The UK’s Queen Elizabeth II tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, two weeks after she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee for 70 years on the throne.
The 95-year-old monarch is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms and is expected to continue carrying out “light duties” this week, Buckingham Palace said.
The queen, who is believed to have been triple vaccinated, reportedly met Prince Charles on Feb. 8, two days before he tested positive for the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes COVID-19, for the second time.
Charles, the queen’s eldest son and heir to the throne, caught the virus in March 2020 but only had mild symptoms.
He also made a speedy full recovery this time. His wife, the 74-year-old Camilla, duchess of Cornwall, also tested positive, with Clarence House confirming on Feb. 14 that the duchess was self-isolating.

Government officials ordered the demolition on Tuesday of a 20-foot tall Jesus statue in Gokunte — a Christian village in southern India’s majority Hindu Karnataka state — resulting in the giant sculpture allegedly “smashed to pieces” by the laborers tasked with the teardown, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) reported on Friday.
The incident took place on the morning of February 15 after a local district administration official arrived in Gokunte along with a demolition team and roughly 40 police officers to pull down the Christian statue. Eyewitness video footage of the teardown published by BACA on Friday shows a laborer operating a backhoe to slowly pick away at the statue’s large concrete and metal base. Other videos show ropes tied to the Jesus figure before machines off-camera pull the structure to the ground.

In Matthew 24, Christ is asked by his disciples what is the sign of his coming and of the end of the world? He replies first by saying, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” Then he goes on to discuss the chronology of events that will lead up to his return. He told them, “And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Christ’s end time account is consistent with the prophets and the book of Revelation. Many ask if we are in the beginning of sorrows.
Taking a snapshot of the world situation today, there are certainly many aspects of beginning of sorrows in play. We have seen a huge pestilence in the form of COVID 19 that has indeed left in its wake death, suffering, famine, and overall disruption of societies around the world. Each year there are over 1,300 earthquakes worldwide. Earthquakes are a concern for Israel as reported by the Times of Israel with a February 8 announcement of installation of a cutting-edge earthquake sensing and warning system. The Times reported, “Israel is located on the seismically active Syrian-African Rift Valley and being so small, most of its residents are exposed to the risk of earthquake damage.” Read More
Biden Extends US National Emergency Over COVID-19
President Joe Biden said the U.S. national emergency that was declared in early 2020 due to COVID-19 will be extended beyond March 1, citing what he called a “risk to the public health and safety.” In a letter released on the White House website, Biden told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that “there remains a need to continue this national emergency.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant risk to the public health and safety of the Nation. More than 900,000 people in this Nation have perished from the disease, and it is essential to continue to combat and respond to COVID-19 with the full capacity and capability of the Federal Government,” he wrote, adding that his office has “determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared” almost two years ago.
As of late last year, data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Johns Hopkins University showed that there were 60,000 more COVID-19 deaths under the Biden administration than under the Trump administration. President Donald Trump had declared a national emergency, which allowed the freeing up of about $50 billion in federal aid. The emergency would have been automatically terminated unless, within 90 days prior to the anniversary date of its declaration, the president sent a notice to Congress stating it would continue beyond the anniversary date.
“For this reason, the national emergency declared on March 13, 2020, and beginning March 1, 2020, must continue in effect beyond March 1, 2022,” Biden wrote in another statement, adding that the notice will be published in the Federal Register.
His decision to extend the emergency comes as several Democratic governors moved to rescind COVID-19 mandates, including mask rules, in recent days. The governors of New York and Massachusetts announced last week that they would end certain mask mandates in their states, following similar moves by New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Delaware, and Oregon. Cygnus Installed to Station for Cargo Transfers
Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus spacecraft installation on the International Space Station is now complete. Cygnus launched atop an Antares rocket at 12:40 p.m. EST Saturday, Feb. 19 from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. At about 4:44 a.m., NASA astronaut Raja Chari, along with NASA astronaut Kayla Barron as backup, captured Cygnus, carrying 8,300 pounds of research, hardware, and science experiments to the International Space Station.

Over 245,000 People Choose Christ After Watching Luis Palau Association Film, 'Light Your World'
More than 245,000 people came forward to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior after watching the new Christian film, Light Your World. The film premiered on Dec. 31 and was produced by the Luis Palau Association. The online event featured music from Christian artists TobyMac and Maverick City Music, according to the ministry. Christian artist Danny Gokey and Darren Mulligan from We Are Messengers shared their testimonies, along with multiple people from around the world. The event was hosted by Andrew and Wendy Palau.
Leading up to the event, believers were encouraged to take the "Light Your World Challenge" which involved making a commitment to pray for five friends who are not believers. Over 10,000 signed up for the challenge. The hope for Light Your World was for believers to share the Good News of the gospel with their friends and family members. "In these dark times, we need more than empty resolutions and wishful thinking," said Andrew Palau. "We need true hope. And that is exactly what this program was able to offer. We're so blessed to see how God used Light Your World. And we're praying for each and every individual whose life was changed as a result of this outreach effort."
