Solar storm speeding toward Earth could affect radio, GPS signals
|
|
A massive explosion was spotted on the sun on Wednesday, and now astronomers are keeping a close eye on how that may impact us here on Earth in the coming days.
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued G1-Minor and G2-Moderate Geomagnetic Storm Watches that will run from Feb. 16-18 due to the continuing effects of the Coronal Mass Ejections (CME).
The G1-Minor Geomagnetic Storm Watch will be in effect through Friday after the effects of the CME that passed by Earth on Wednesday. According to the SWPC, the geomagnetic storm may affect satellite operations and could even lead to weak power-grid fluctuations. In addition, migratory animals could be affected, and the Northern Lights may be visible farther south than usual, like in northern Michigan and Maine.
A second CME was also observed on the sun on Wednesday, and officials said the effects could begin to impact Earth starting late Friday morning or Friday afternoon. “G1-Minor conditions are likely on 17 Feb, with G2-Moderate conditions likely on 18 Feb as the main driver of the CME arrives at Earth,” the SWPC said.
A G2-level solar storm could affect high-latitude power systems by triggering voltage alarms, and long-duration storms could cause damage to transformers. In addition, corrective actions may be necessary for spacecraft orbiting Earth.
Radio and GPS signals could also be affected by a G2 solar storm, and the Northern Lights could possibly be seen farther south into places like New York state and Idaho. (New York Post) Read more here.

EXCLUSIVE: Texas GOP Rep. Ronny Jackson, a former White House physician, is calling for an end to the "cover-up" of President Biden's health after the president's physical earlier this week claimed that he is healthy and fit to serve as commander in chief.
"The majority of Americans can see that Biden's mental health is in total decline, yet there is no transparency from the White House on what’s going on, if anything, to address this issue and his inability to do his job," Jackson told Fox News Digital. "Yesterday's written physical exam report released by Biden’s physician, Kevin O'Connor, further confirms that this administration is still adamant about concealing the truth."
Jackson also took issue with the fact that the report from Biden's physical, the second one he's taken since entering office, made no mention of the president undergoing a cognitive test amid his "deteriorating mental health."
"Nowhere in the report was there mention of Biden’s deteriorating mental health," Jackson said. "This is alarming, considering I have already sent three letters to the White House demanding that Biden receive a cognitive test and that the results be made public, all of which have been ignored. 'Asbury Revival' marathon worship enters 10th day, similar services grow on other college campuses

Dubbed the 'Asbury Revival,' the around-the-clock praise and worship service echoes similar religious revival that occurred at the same university in 1970
|

An evangelical service in Wilmore, Kentucky has been celebrating nonstop for 10 days in what many of its participants are calling a "revival."
The event is being held at Asbury University — a small Christian college — and has seen participants fly in from across the country to participate as it enters its tenth straight day of worship.
The movement began after students refused to leave following a chapel service last Wednesday, and the services have since grown to pack the school's chapel with worshipers from all over the country, according to Christianity Today.
The "Asbury Revival," as it has been called, echoes a widely reported worship event that took place decades ago.
A revival erupted at the same university in 1970 in Hughes Auditorium. The service began inside the campus chapel before more and more students arrived to worship, pray and sing over the course of 144 consecutive hours.
In Protestant Evangelical Christianity, a "revival" is a sudden and enthusiastic restoration of religious vigor among a church, town or larger geographic region.

1. Draft UN resolution demands end to Israeli ‘settlements’ - JNS
(February 17, 2023 / JNS) A draft U.N. resolution that the Associated Pressobtained demands an immediate halt to all Israeli settlement activities, condemning Israeli attempts to annex settlements and outposts and calling for their reversal. The Palestinian-backed resolution could be put to a vote as early as next week.
The new resolution comes as Israel’s government reaffirmed its commitment to legalize nine communities in Judea and Samaria in the wake of last week’s deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem. The victims were identified as Yaakov Israel Paley, 6; his brother Asher Menachem, 8; and Alter Shlomo Lederman, 20.
At the same time, Israel’s government has announced plans to advance nearly 10,000 housing units in Judea and Samaria following a string of terrorist attacks, which claimed 10 Israeli lives in the past several weeks. (Read more)

2. Israel agrees to freeze settlement construction, demolition of illegal Arab homes - Israel National News
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a number of concessions to the Palestinian Authority, as part of the Biden administration’s push to broker a deal between the two sides to lower tensions during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Walla reported Sunday evening.
According to the report, two Biden administration officials say that the US has secured “understandings” with Jerusalem and Ramallah, under which both Israel and the Palestinian Authority will refrain from unilateral moves over the next few months.
The understandings, disclosed earlier this month, were reportedly finalized only following heavy pressure from the Biden administration.
Under the tacit agreement, the Palestinian Authority will hold off on its plans to have the United Nations Security Council vote on a resolution condemning Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria. (Read more)

3. UN Security Council drops vote calling on Israel to cease settlement activity - Jerusalem Post
The United Arab Emirates told the UN Security Council that it will not call a vote on Monday on a draft resolutiondemanding Israel "immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory," according to a note seen by Reuters.
The UAE told council counterparts in the note sent on Sunday that it will now work on drafting a formal statement - known as a presidential statement (PRST) - which the 15-member council has to agree by consensus.
"Given the positive talks between the parties, we are now working on a draft PRST which would garner consensus," the note said. "Accordingly, there will not be a vote on the draft resolution on Monday. Much of the language of the PRST will be drawn from the draft resolution." (Read more)

Israel is ceaselessly confronting Iran’s nefarious activities, as the Islamic Republic’s attempts to attack the Jewish state are unending, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said, “On the Iranian front, our efforts are unceasing for the simple reason that Iran’s acts of aggression are unceasing.
Last week, Iran again attacked an oil tanker in the Persian Gulf and struck at the international freedom of navigation. Yesterday, Iran attacked an American base in Syria. Iran continues to send deadly weapons that attack masses of innocent civilians far from its borders.”
BBC Persian reported on Friday that an Israeli-linked oil tanker was targeted in the Persian Gulf by Iranian forces. The attack, which according to the report took place on February 10, targeted the Liberia-flagged Campo Square, whose owner is Zodiac Maritime, a shipping company led by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. 5. Casualties reported after alleged Israeli strike on Iranian targets in Damascus - Israel Hayom
Alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted a residential neighborhood in central Damascus early Sunday, Syrian state news reported.
Syrian state media agency SANA, citing a source in the Damascus police command, reported that five people and one soldier were killed and 15 others wounded.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor, reported that 15 people, including a woman, were killed in strikes targeting sites connected with Iranian militias and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. They took place in the Damascus countryside and on an Iranian school in the neighborhood of Kafr Sousa in the capital.
The strike damaged several buildings in the densely populated area close to Omayyad square in the heart of the capital. Loud explosions were heard over the capital around 12:30 a.m. local time, and SANAreported that Syrian air defenses were "confronting hostile targets in the sky around Damascus." (Read more)

1. Massachusetts Supreme Court Rules Unborn Babies are Persons - LifeNews
Yesterday, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled against defendant Peter Ronchi, who had appealed his two first-degree murder convictions for the violent stabbing death of his girlfriend and her unborn child. The Court rejected the defendant’s claim that his conviction for the murder of the unborn child was an error because he had not stabbed the baby. The SJC observed, “By ending the mother’s life, he destroyed the viable fetus through cessation of maternal blood flow.”
MCFL’s executive director, Patricia Stewart, Esq., praised the court’s decision, “We applaud the Supreme Judicial Court’s life-affirming acknowledgement of the humanity of the unborn child in its recognition of the fetus as the second victim of a maternal murder, even without a direct traumatic injury to the unborn child. In so ruling, the court rejected outmoded ways of thinking about the status of an unborn child in instances of violent crime.” (Read more)

2. Lawmakers question FBI memo warning of 'radical-traditionalist Catholic ideology' - Christian Post
Congressional Republicans are demanding answers after the FBI's Richmond office circulated a document classifying "radical-traditionalist Catholic ideology" as a potential national security threat. Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Mike Johnson, R-La., wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray Thursday describing the "FBI's targeting of a set of Catholic Americans for their religious beliefs" as the latest example of a "serious misuse of federal law enforcement resources" for "apparent political purposes."
Jordan serves as the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, while Johnson is the chair of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government.
"On January 23, 2023, the FBI's Richmond Field Office published an official document that linked 'racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists' (RMVEs) with a 'radical-traditionalist Catholic' ideology," the lawmakers wrote. The document, which has since been rescinded by the FBI's headquarters, warned that "the increasingly observed interest of racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists (RMVEs) in radical-traditionalist Catholic ideology almost certainly presents opportunities for threat mitigation through the exploration of new avenues for tripwire and source development." The gunman who killed three Michigan State University students and critically wounded five others had a list of other targets, two handguns and plenty of ammunition when police found him on foot after the campus massacre, authorities revealed Thursday.
After gunfire terrorized the East Lansing campus Monday evening, an alert citizen who saw news coverage helped lead police to 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae about 4 miles northwest of campus, authorities said.
It appeared “he was just walking home,” MSU Interim Deputy Police Chief Chris Rozman said.
As police closed in on him, McRae said nothing to the officers before he shot and killed himself, Michigan State Police Lt. Rene Gonzalez added.
Despite the latest clues, the motive for the mass shooting remains a mystery. (Read more)

4. Ohio To Set Up Health Clinic To Address Town Medical Needs After Toxic Train Derailment - Daily Caller
The Ohio Department of Health will open a clinic in East Palestine to respond to medical concerns residents are reporting after a train derailment cast a toxic chemical plume over the town, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday.
The clinic will be accessible to residents beginning next week to answer questions, evaluate residents and provide medical expertise, according to an update posted by the Ohio Emergency Medical Agency. Residents reported headaches and rashes after a Norfolk Southern train derailed in early February, which led to the temporary evacuation of nearly 2,000 residents to conduct a controlled release of toxic chemicals, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
“We know that the science says that East Palestine is safe, but we also know that residents are very worried,” DeWine said, according to the EMA update. “They are asking themselves ‘Is my headache just a headache? Or is it a result of the chemical spill? Are other medical symptoms caused by the spill?’ Those are very legitimate questions and residents deserve answers.”
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will send officials to help staff the clinic and will work alongside the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. EPA, the update reads. Officials will be experts on chemical exposures. (Read more)

5. Biden administration asks court not to release Dominion Voting Systems report - Just the News
Biden administration officials at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) are urging a judge not to release a report on Dominion Voting Systems equipment in Georgia by arguing that the move would "threaten election security." CISA has already obtained an unredacted version of the report, which was written by University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society Director J. Alex Halderman. The professor has been criticized by both Dominion and Georgia Secretary State Brad Raffensperger (R).
The report should be released after being reviewed under CISA's Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure process, Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian Boyton and Department of Justice attorney Bringham Bowen argued in the Feb. 10 filing, obtained by The Epoch Times. The officials argued that the redacted report should not be released right now, but Raffensperger, one of the defendants, called last month for the "secret report" to be released immediately.
"CISA's goal is to disclose any confirmed vulnerabilities and associated mitigations to the public in a coordinated way, so the entire cyber ecosystem can benefit while minimizing the risk of harm to election security," the attorneys write. 6. Clinton campaign hired techs to 'mine' data about Trump servers to fuel collusion suspicions: Durham - Just the News
Filings from Special Counsel John Durham this week allege the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign was working to establish a "narrative" linking the Trump campaign to a Russian bank, in an alleged gambit one expert said was an effort to "infiltrate" Trump servers to that end.
The allegations, first reported on by Fox News on Saturday, are another layer to the densely, multifaceted Durham investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory, one that has continued long after Trump left office and that continues to produce fresh controversies on a regular basis.
Fox News reported Durham's court filing said lawyers for the Clinton campaign paid a technology company to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower and the Trump White House to create an "inference" of Russia collusion in 2016-17, hoping to get federal agencies to investigate.
The actual court filing did not use the word "infiltrate" but rather said the executives were seeking to "mine" data about the servers. (Read more)

7. Northern Border Agents Were Asked To Deploy To Florida Due To Massive Illegal Migrant Surge - Daily Caller
Agents patrolling the northern border were asked to deploy to Florida due to a large surge in illegal migrants in recent months, National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told the Daily Caller News Foundation Friday.
The Miami sector has seen increasing flows of illegal migrants with a surge of hundreds of them reaching the Florida coast in a matter of days in early January, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded more than 1,300 migrant encounters. For the last few months, agents stationed along the northern border have been dealing with their own migrant surge and deployments to address another surge at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“While the southwest border with Mexico continues to be the most problematic area for border security, Biden has made it possible for people and cartels to exploit weakness on all our borders including our coastal borders and northern border. Robbing Peter to pay Paul by moving resources from one area to another is, and has never been the answer, while it might help one area, it weakens the area the agents vacated. This Administration has proven it has little ability and care to protect our borders thereby safeguarding US Citizens,” Judd told the DCNF.
Border Patrol agents stationed along the U.S.-Canadian border, who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak, confirmed to the DCNF that they were asked to volunteer. “What’s next?” one of the agents told the DCNF. “We’re all being stretched pretty thin.” (Read more)

8. China sanctions Lockheed, Raytheon after vowing to retaliate against US restrictions - CNN
China has imposed sanctions on two American defense manufacturers over arms sales to Taiwan, a day after Beijing pledged to take “countermeasures” in response to Washington’s handling of a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that entered American airspace and was shot down by US forces earlier this month.
Lockheed (LMT) Martin Corporation and Raytheon (RTN) Missiles & Defense, a subsidiary of Raytheon (RTN) Technologies Corp, will be added to China’s sanctions list, its Ministry of Commerce said in a Thursday statement. They are banned from importing, exporting and investing in China.
Lockheed makes the F-22 Raptor fighter, the model that was responsible for shooting down the Chinese balloon off the coast of South Carolina on February 4. Raytheon makes the AIM-9X Sidewinder missile, which was used in the mission.
China has insisted that the sanctions were not related to the “unmanned airship incident.” Its Ministry of Commerce released a statement on Friday morning saying the measures were part of “normal law enforcement action” for arms sales by the two entities to Taiwan that “seriously undermined” China’s national security and territorial integrity.
The sanctions came just days after the US Commerce Department restricted six Chinese companies that it said were tied to the Chinese army’s aerospace program from obtaining US technology without government authorization. (Read more)

9. Jimmy Carter enters hospice care at home - NBC News
Former President Jimmy Carter will begin receiving hospice care at home following a series of hospital stays, his foundation said in a statement on Saturday. "After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention," the statement said. "He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers."
Carter, 98, is the oldest living former American president and the first American president born in a hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer in Aug. 2015 — melanoma that had spread to his liver and brain — but was later declared cancer-free. In 2019, he also suffered a black eye in a fall and was later hospitalized with a fractured pelvis due to a separate fall.
He told a church congregation in 2019 that he was "at ease with death" following his cancer diagnosis, CBS News reported.
“I, obviously, prayed about it. I didn’t ask God to let me live, but I just asked God to give me a proper attitude toward death. And I found that I was absolutely and completely at ease with death. It didn’t really matter to me whether I died or lived," Carter said, according to CBS News. “I have, since that time, been absolutely confident that my Christian faith includes complete confidence in life after death. So, I’m going to live again after I die — Don’t know what form I’ll take, or anything.” (Read more)

On Monday, the World Health Organization (WHO) will be racing ahead with its plan for global tyranny. WHO will spend the following five days with its top figureheads planning a massive push forward on a disturbing agenda. This includes a long list of amendments that roll out a global new world order like I have never seen. These changes are far more radical than those proposed last year to WHO’s governing documents — the International Health Regulations.
These amendments go far beyond mandating digital health records and Vaccine Passports.
It’s hard to highlight which are the most dangerous of the amendments spread across 46 pages. But here are two key ones.
First, one amendment will give WHO unprecedented power not just over a “public health risk” but also over “all risks with a potential to impact public health.” Anything can be a “potential” risk to “public health.” This includes access to abortion, transgene mutilations, “climate change” and, of course, COVID.
Second, the amendments change WHO from an advisory U.N. agency to “a legally binding agreement of 196 countries to build the capability to … detect, assess, report, and respond to public health events.”
This is a serious and urgent matter. Joe Biden — and the American delegation — is pushing hard to give WHO global authority. We have a short window to flood Congress with opposition to Biden, who wants to give away our sovereignty. If Congress does not stop Biden, then these amendments will be adopted and WHO will gain global power. Cosmic 'tadpole' points to ultra-rare black hole
hiding near the Milky Way's center

Scientists detected a cloud of gas sculpted into a wonky tadpole shape near the Milky Way's center, possibly pointing to a rare intermediate-mass black hole.
An enormous, deformed dust cloud that astronomers nicknamed "the Tadpole" could point to the location of an extremely rare type of black hole never confirmed to exist in our galaxy before.
In a study published Jan. 10 in The Astrophysical Journal(opens in new tab), researchers based in Japan describe the strange dust cloud, which looks like a big-headed, long-tailed tadpole and sits near the center of the Milky Way in the constellation Sagittarius, about 27,000 light-years from Earth.
This region of the Milky Way, known as the Central Molecular Zone, is extremely dense with star-forming dust clouds that clump around our galaxy's central supermassive black hole, known as Sagittarius A*.
