Protesters Double Down After Trudeau Invokes Unprecedented Emergency Powers, Threatens Bank Accounts
|
|
|
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Monday announcement invoking the Emergencies Act to break a weeks-long protest in Ottawa has only served to inspire more resistance, one protest organizer told The Daily Wire.
David Paisley says he has been protesting for weeks now and, as a street captain, helps organize protesters and direct those who wish to support the cause with funds, goods, or services. Paisley told The Daily Wire that Trudeau’s announcement, which made headlines across major news organizations in the U.S. and Canada, went off barely noticed by the protesters on the ground.
“No one really cares about any new announcement. I mean the police have been breaking the law long before any emergency power. They were taking our fuel away. They were arresting people for purely having jerry cans or having empty tanks of fuel,” he said. They’ve already been doing these ‘emergency powers’ and all it does is make people dig their heels in more,” Paisley added. “The irony … is that these very powers and threats are why we are here.”
Paisley said that the protest would continue despite frozen bank accounts or impounded trucks until every protester is cuffed and thrown in prison. “[The Trudeau government] underestimated the determination and the intelligence of those here, and so everyone still here on the ground, they’re basically willing to give their lives for this – peacefully of course,” Paisley said. “They’re prepared to drain every last dollar, even from frozen bank accounts,” he added later.
The truckers in Ottawa have received wave after wave of support in the form of cash funds, food, fuel, letters, and even a free laundry service by two ladies who walk Paisley’s street every day collecting clothes. The trucker said he received word on Monday from two men who wanted to deliver hundreds of liters of extra diesel fuel for the convoy.
“You come and sit in the driver’s seat for a few hours and you’ll be able to fill up your wallet again. It’s incredible. People are just handing you fifties, hundreds, packs of hundreds. A friend of mine received a Bible and when he opened it up it had 500 cash inside the bible,” Paisley said.
“The more the government tries to stomp this out, the more and more it causes people to rise up and say ‘this is wrong, and I side with these truckers,’” he said. “These steps from the government have simply hardened the determination of the great men and women down here, so I’m not really concerned at all. We’ll have lots of new friends when we all get tossed in prison together.” (The Daily Caller) Read more here.

1. Hezbollah’s Nasrallah warns Israel: We can transform missiles into precision weapons - Times of Israel
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah tells his followers that his group is producing drones and can turn its thousands of rockets into precision-guided missiles.
“I tell the Israelis that their ‘battle between wars’ has turned the threat into an opportunity for the resistance,” Nasrallah says in comments carried by the Lebanese news site Naharnet. “We now possess the ability to transform our thousands of missiles into precision-guided missiles.”
Nasrallah warns Israel that Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has “started manufacturing drones.” (Read more)

2. 'Israel must proceed with caution on Turkey rapproachement' - Israel Hayom
One of the former officials said, "Israel should gauge Erdogan's seriousness, given his antisemitic and inconsistent background. Erdogan supports the Muslim Brotherhood and thus one should wonder whether his apparent desire to mend relations with Israel stems from current needs and for show only. Israel's approach should be 'trust but verify.'" According to the official, "given Turkey's weakness, there is definitely an opportunity but Israel must show strength in the talks, especially on the ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas."
According to the other official, the rapprochement should not come at the expense of Greece and Cyprus, with whom Israel has built geopolitical cooperation in the last decade.
Israel and Turkey have expelled ambassadors and consuls in 2018 and relations have remained tense, but Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has since worked to mend strained ties with several regional countries in a charm offensive launched in 2020. (Read more)

3. Arab fields ‘destroyed by IDF’ found to be lands stolen from Israel - World Israel News
Agricultural fields in the Jordan Valley, which the local Arabs claim were destroyed by the “cruel occupation,” are in fact “one of the biggest areas of agricultural annexation and a key Palestinian Authority focus point for the takeover of the Jordan Valley,” TPS has learned.
Member of Knesset Ahmed Tibi, a member of the Arab-majority Joint List, posted on Thursday photos of plowed-through agricultural fields supposedly owned by the Arabs of the village of Bardala that were ruined during IDF training.
He wrote that “this is what a field of the Bardala residents in the Jordan Valley looks like after the third day of military training. Cruel. This is what occupation looks like.” (Read more)

4. Houthis and Hezbollah are Learning War-Fighting Techniques From One Another - Algemeiner
JNS.org – Hezbollah operatives are present in Yemen, assisting the Houthis by giving them military knowledge and training, while in turn learning lessons from the “Yemen war lab” that they can in future apply against Israel, a senior former defense official told JNS.
Col. (res.) Shaul Shay, former deputy head of the National Security Council and currently a senior research fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya, described a “mutual process” in play between the two Iranian-backed radical Shi’ite armed factions.
“The Houthis are also teaching Hezbollah—there is no chance that Hezbollah could test these kinds of operational scenarios, like the firing of unmanned aerial vehicle and cruise missile attacks on distant targets—back in Lebanon,” said Shay. (Read more)

5. Health Ministry recommends lifting more COVID travel restrictions - Times of Israel
The Health Ministry on Wednesday recommended easing COVID-19 restrictions as the fifth wave of infections fueled by the Omicron variant continues to recede.
The ministry recommended ending the quarantine requirement for Israeli travelers returning from abroad and the Green Pass vaccine proof required at events.
The ministry’s other recommendations include canceling the requirement for returning travelers to present a COVID test at the airport before boarding a flight to Israel (though the test at Ben Gurion after landing will remain) and ending quarantine for unvaccinated children who travel abroad.
Unvaccinated non-Israeli children under age 12 should be allowed to enter if they are accompanied by vaccinated parents, and be required to isolate until they receive a negative test result, the ministry said. Unvaccinated non-Israelis over the age of 12 should not be allowed to enter the country.

1. Indiana city scuttles proposed “conversion therapy” ban - WORLD
The City Council of West Lafayette, Ind., abruptly withdrew a proposed ban on conversion therapy at a meeting on Monday evening. A co-sponsor of the ordinance, which would have barred unlicensed counselors from talking with minors who sought help for unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria, said he was pulling the controversial proposal in the face of threatened litigation.
Instead, the council passed a nonbinding resolution against conversion therapy on an 8-1 vote. “In order to save the city from the costs and efforts of having to defend itself from that threatened lawsuit, it was better not to have the ordinance, but just have a resolution,” Councilman David Sanders said, WLFI-TV reported.
The withdrawn ordinance had defined “conversion therapy” as “any practices or treatments that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change gender expressions or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings towards individuals of the same gender.” (Read more)

2. Wisconsin Supreme Court allows ballot boxes to be banned for April election - The Hill
The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that it will allow a ban on the use of ballot drop boxes for the upcoming April election, though the ruling will not affect primaries scheduled for next week, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. In a 4-3 ruling, the state’s high court allowed a ban that will prohibit ballot drop boxes from being used in the upcoming April election, upholding a lower court’s ruling from January, the news outlet noted.
The challenge to the use of ballot drop boxes came from the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, which filed a lawsuit on behalf of two voters from Waukesha County last summer, contesting the use of absentee ballot drop boxes.
The lawsuit claims that absentee ballots can only be dropped off by hand or by mail and claimed that election statutes had been incorrectly interpreted by the Wisconsin Elections Commission regarding the use of drop boxes for absentee ballots. (Read more)

Former President Trump, during an exclusive interview with Fox News, said the Justice Department should "absolutely" declassify remaining records related to the original Trump-Russia probe, "especially in light" of Special Counsel John Durham’s latest filing.
They have the declassification order," Trump said of the Justice Department. "And they should declassify, absolutely, especially in light of what has just happened and what has just been revealed."
Trump was referring to Durham’s Feb. 11 court filing in which he alleged "Tech Executive-1" and his associates, including a lawyer for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, "exploited" internet traffic pertaining to a "particular healthcare provider," Trump Tower, Trump’s Central Park West apartment building, and the Executive Office of the President of the United States in order to "establish ‘an inference’ and ‘narrative’" to then bring to federal government agencies tying Trump to Russia. 4. Trump teases first post on new Twitter-like TRUTH Social site - DML News
Former President Donald Trump is preparing for his return to social media — posting his first message on a beta version of his eagerly awaited new platform, TRUTH Social.
“Get ready! Your favorite president will see you soon,” Trump wrote in a message that was shared by his son Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter, the site that TRUTH Social aims to displace.
The shared screenshot once again made the former president a trending topic on the social media giant that banned him from using it even while he was in the White House. “Time for some Truth!!!” tweeted Trump Jr, while sharing a screenshot of his father’s first post on TRUTH Social. (Read more)

5. 17 Senate Republicans Join Democrats to Demand Joe Biden Import More Foreign Workers - Brietbart
On Monday, 17 Senate Republicans signed a letter with 17 Senate Democrats that urges Biden to “release the maximum allowable number of additional” H-2B foreign visa workers to inflate the labor market despite more than 12 million Americans remaining jobless, though all want full-time employment.
The senators also asked Biden to speed up the process so U.S. employers could get foreign visa workers quicker into blue-collar American jobs, often in construction, landscaping, the tourism industry, and other occupations.
“Without meaningful H-2B cap relief, many seasonal businesses will be forced to scale back operations, cancel or default on contracts, lay off full-time U.S. workers, and, in some cases, close operations completely,” the senators wrote. (Read more)

6. Pelosi Is Forced to Backtrack After Stock Trading Revelations - American Spectator
By now, many Americans are aware of the bombshell series of reports from Business Insider which accused members of Congress and their staffers of violating the 2012 STOCK Act, which regulates congressional securities trading. If there has been a figurehead for these reports, it has been none other than Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who infamously defended members’ ability to sell individual stocks despite their access to non-public information that directly affects the market.
However, after witnessing public disapproval and universal dissent within both major political parties, and even from former President Donald Trump, it would seem Pelosi has started to publicly backtrack from her prior views and is now publicly entertaining restrictions on congressional trading.
At her weekly news conference last week, Pelosi said that she could accept a ban on the ownership of individual stocks by lawmakers so long as the new rules also applied to the judicial branch.
Of course, her support is tepid, but it sure is a big change from the, “We’re a free market economy…” position she took just a little over two months ago. Presumably, the spotlight will now shift to the multiple proposals that are floating around to regulate this issue, many of which are backed by bipartisan sponsorship. (Read more)

7. Moderna CEO sells stock - The Blacksphere
On Feb. 11, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel sold 10,000 shares of company stock. The stock is valued at a measly $1.8 million in total. But what followed has people really shaking their heads.
CEOs selling stock is not unusual. Generally speaking, most companies cap these sales, as you can’t have a person liquidating in a fire sale. And why would Bancel sell stock, given his ability to print money by producing tons of drugs that will never be used. Moreover, his company made out like a “Bancel” providing drugs that are many argue mostly ineffective.
Does Bancel see the writing on the wall, and thus decided to start the long game of dumping his stock? Based on his existing agreement, Bancel can’t dump his all of his stock for 16 years.
Observers on Twitter found the relationship between these moves suspicious. “Do you think Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel knows something we don’t? When someone sells a bunch of stock in the company they run and then delete their Twitter account, I’d say they’re sending a message.” (Read more)

8. TIPP Poll: Two-Thirds of Dems Say Hillary Clinton Should Be Investigated - Newsmax
A full 66% of Democrats want to see Hillary Clinton investigated for any role she might have had in trying to manufacture former President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia in an attempt to smear him, according to a new poll by TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics (TIPP).
The figure marks a 20-point increase from last October, when TIPP asked the same question about Clinton. The most recent court documents reveal that special counsel John Durham’s investigation is ready to prove that the Clinton campaign and another individual identified as “Tech Executive 1” tried to infiltrate computer servers at Trump Tower and a Trump-owned apartment building in New York.
The team also tried to get into servers at the White House once Trump took office to try to get data that would create the impression that Trump had nefarious ties to Russia in an effort to deflect attention from Hillary Clinton’s missing email scandal during the 2016 campaign. (Read more)

9. Russia says video shows tanks, military equipment leaving Crimea - Reuters
Russia's defence ministry published video on Wednesday that it said showed a column of tanks and military vehicles leaving annexed Crimea across a railway bridge after drills, adding that some troops would also return to their permanent bases.
Moscow announced a partial pullback of forces from near Ukraine on Tuesday. The move was met with scepticism, however, and U.S. President Joe Biden said that more than 150,000 Russian troops were still amassed near Ukraine's borders. (Read more)

10. Arizona lawmakers move to return to paper ballots, hand counts - Just The News
Legislators have given early approval to a bill that would ban the use of voting machines and require the millions of Arizona’s electoral ballots to be counted by hand. The Senate Government Committee voted along party lines Monday to move forward Senate Bill 1338. Sponsored by Sen. Wendy Rogers, R-Flagstaff, the measure would ban the use of electronic voting and electronic or other tabulating devices in any election in Arizona. It also would mandate precinct polling places, forbidding the current system of more consolidated voting centers.
“There is nothing more important than the preservation of our democracy,” Rogers told the committee. “This is brave what we’re trying to do here. We must do this.”
Multiple witnesses said counting more than 3 million ballots across the state in the hours after polls close presents a massive lift. Rogers insisted the state would have plenty of volunteers to do the job. (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: Crack Pipes And Crack Pots

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) have introduced the “Preventing Illicit Paraphernalia for Exchange Systems Act,” also known as the PIPES Act. This legislation is “To prohibit the use of Federal funds for local substance use disorder services for the purchase of sterile needles or syringes for the injection of illegal drugs, or to procure, supply, or distribute pipes, cylindrical objects, or other paraphernalia that can be used to smoke, inhale, or ingest narcotics.” Now, one might wonder why in the world would such a bill even need to be introduced? The short answer is because the Biden Administration, in all of its wisdom, got their hand caught in the taxpayer cookie jar to the tune of some $30 million.
Yes, you read it correctly—a $30 MILLION federal grant program for what White House press secretary Jen Psaki said would be distributed among drug addicts to promote hygiene and reduce the risk of spreading HIV and hepatitis. The explanation comes on the heels of a Department of Health and Human Services source who told the Washington Free Beacon that the Biden Administration was going to spend the money in part to fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts as part of its plan to advance racial equality. The Free Beacon reported that a spokesman for the agency said the kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and “any illicit substance.” Read More

Empire State Building-sized asteroid heads towards
Earth this Friday

|
A massive asteroid around the size of the Empire State Building in New York City is heading for Earth's direction later this week, though an impact is very unlikely, according to NASA's asteroid tracker.
Designated 2022 BH7, this asteroid has an estimated width of between 170 and 380 meters. For comparison, the Empire State Building is around the same size as the asteroid's maximum estimate.
The massive space rock is unlikely to hit Earth, however, with current NASA calculations stating it will safely pass by on Friday at a distance of around 2.9 million kilometers.
For comparison, the Moon orbits the Earth at a distance of around 384,000 km, less than a seventh of that.
But it is fortunate that this asteroid won't impact us, as the result could be absolutely devastating.
According to research from the Davidson Institute of Science, the educational arm of Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science, an asteroid over 140 meters in diameter would release an amount of energy at least a thousand times greater than the energy released by the first atomic bomb if it impacted Earth.
Something even larger – over 300 meters wide like the asteroid Apophis or, in our case, the maximum estimated width of 2022 BH7 – could destroy an entire continent. An asteroid over a kilometer in width could trigger a worldwide cataclysm.
The last major disaster-level asteroid to hit the Earth, the Tunguska incident in 1908, produced an explosion far greater than a nuclear bomb. In fact, it is one of the largest explosions ever. And that asteroid was estimated to be, at most, 190 meters in width.
Thankfully, no disaster awaits Earth as this asteroid is set to safely pass us on Friday. Read More
