Judge Denies Jack Smith's Request to Conceal Documents in Trump Classified Materials Case
|
|
A federal judge has denied special counsel Jack Smith's request to keep some documents hidden in former President Donald Trump's classified documents case.
Judge Aileen Cannon, who's overseeing the trial in former President Donald Trump's classified documents case, has rejected a motion by special counsel Jack Smith to keep some documents hidden from President Trump's defense.
In an order signed on Dec. 4, Judge Cannon directed a court clerk to unseal multiple documents that Mr. Smith's team sought to keep sealed in the case that accuses the former president of retaining sensitive government materials, including some that were marked top secret, at his Mar-a-Lago home.
President Trump has said he used presidential powers to declassify the materials, insisting that he isn't guilty and calling the case an attempt by his political foes to hamper his 2024 presidential run.
The former president's longtime aide Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira have been named as co-defendants in the case; both also have pleaded not guilty.
President Trump's defense team and Mr. Smith's prosecutors have been litigating over what portion of classified materials the defendants are allowed to view, with the judge's latest decision delivering a win of sorts for the co-defendants.
"In light of the Special Counsel's Response to Defendants Motion to Unseal 230, and mindful of the strong presumption in favor of public access to judicial documents, the Clerk is directed to unseal docket entries 223, 224, and 230," Judge Cannon's Dec. 4 order reads. (The Epoch Times) (Read more)

JPMorgan predicts a grim outlook for the stock market next year
|
|
The sizable rally in the U.S. stock market over the past month is likely to fizzle out by the end of next year amid a number of growing economic headwinds, according to JPMorgan Chase.
Dubravko Lakos-Bujas, the chief global equity strategist at JPMorgan, said in a recent analyst note that slowing economic growth, the rapid depletion of household savings and ongoing geopolitical turmoil could trigger a steep decline in the S&P 500 over the course of 2024.
"Absent rapid Fed easing, we expect a more challenging macro backdrop for stocks next year with softening consumer trends at a time when investor positioning and sentiment have mostly reversed," Lakos-Bujas wrote in the note.
The benchmark index could fall to 4,200 by the end of 2024 — down about 8% from current levels, according to the JPMorgan strategists. It is the most bearish outlook yet among major Wall Street firms. Even Morgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist Michael Wilson — a longtime Wall Street bear — sees the S&P 500 ending 2024 around 4,500.
"We expect a more challenging macro backdrop for stocks next year with softening consumer trends at a time when investor positioning and sentiment have mostly reversed," the JPMorgan note said. (Read more)

Pentagon: US warship, commercial vessels attacked in Red Sea
|
|
A U.S. Navy destroyer and multiple commercial vessels have come under attack in the Red Sea, the Pentagon said on Sunday.
“We’re aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as it becomes available,” the Pentagon said.
A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press the attacks began around 10 a.m. near Yemen’s capital city, Sana’a, and had gone on for as much as five hours.
That region has been rocked by a series of attacks attributed to Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed the group attacked “two Israeli ships in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.” The Houthis vowed to “continue to prevent Israeli ships from navigating the Red and Arab Seas until the Israeli aggression against our steadfast brothers in the Gaza Strip stops.” (JNS.org)

Lord, we ask that our leaders would be filled with boldness and with strength to stand up for our military, our country and citizens. We pray our leaders would do what is in our best interest and to not act cowardly showing other nations that they can’t push us around. In Jesus name amen.

Biden Impeachment Inquiry Vote Will Come Next Week: Speaker Johnson
|
|
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced Tuesday that a vote to authorize an inquiry into the impeachment of President Joe Biden will happen next week, before the House breaks for the holidays.
“The House has no choice if it’s going to follow its constitutional responsibility to formally adopt an impeachment inquiry on the floor so that when the subpoenas are challenged in court, it will be at the apex of our constitutional authority,” he said during a press conference.
“This vote is not a vote to impeach President Biden. This is a vote to continue the inquiry of impeachment, and that’s a necessary constitutional step.”
House Republicans have been investigating allegations that the Biden family profited from foreign nationals through the use of Joe Biden's office as Vice President of the United States and later a leading candidate for the president of the United States, as well as allegations that the Biden administration hampered efforts to investigate this claim.
Top Republicans have said an impeachment inquiry will help further the investigation, granting subpoena power and access to additional materials. The White House has pushed back, stating it has been cooperative in turning over more than 35,000 pages of private financial records. (Read more)

|
- Lord, we pray for your wisdom to be upon all of our elected representatives to fulfill the responsibilities of seeking truth and justice. May Your guiding hand allow the investigation to continue with this constitutional step.
- "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God."

1. PM: Massive military force fastest way to end war - Jerusalem Post
Overwhelming military force is the quickest way to end the Gaza war and ensure the return of the hostages,Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters in Tel Aviv Tuesday night amid international concern about the mounting death toll in the enclave.
“I say from here to our friends in the world who are pushing for a quick end to the war: our only way to end the war, and to end it quickly, is to use overwhelming force against Hamas – and destroy it.
“If our friends want to help shorten the war, which is also their war against the barbarism that threatens to sweep the world, they simply have to stand firmly by our side,” Netanyahu said. (Read more)

"60 days after the war began, our forces are now encircling the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip," Halevi said. "Simultaneously, we continue to secure our accomplishments in the northern Gaza Strip.
"Those who thought that the IDF would not know how to renew the fighting after the pause were mistaken, and Hamas is already feeling this. Many Hamas operatives, including senior commanders, have been eliminated in recent days," he said. (Read more)

4. Dozens of tanks roll into southern Gaza as rockets target central Israel, Beersheba - Times of Israel
Dozens of Israeli tanks entered the southern part of the Gaza Strip on Monday and were seen operating near Khan Younis, as the military pushed ahead with expanding its ground offensive into the area, where it believes Hamas leadership is hiding. Armored personnel carriers and bulldozers were also seen by witnesses.
Meanwhile, Palestinian terrorists fired rockets at central Israel, as well as southern towns and the city of Beersheba.
Some of the Israel Defense Forces tanks were seen on the southern part of Salah al-Din road, the Strip’s main north-south highway, which the army’s Arabic-language Spokesman declared to be a “battle zone.” (Read more)

5. Anti-Israel Coalition Justifies Targeting of Philadelphia Restaurant Owned by Israeli Chef, Cites ‘Genocide’ in Gaza - Algemeiner
An anti-Israel group based in Philadelphia has tried to justify what lawmakers and other government officials described as an antisemitic demonstration targeting a restaurant owned by American–Israeli chef Michael Solomonov, making outlandish accusations against the famed chef and the Jewish state.
The Philly Palestine Coalition — which has called for a “complete end to the siege on Gaza and an end to the US complicity with Israel” — organized the demonstration, which took place in downtown Philadelphia on Sunday. At one point during the rally, the mob of protesters gathered outside Goldie, a vegan falafel restaurant co-owned by Solomonov, and chanted “Goldie, Goldie, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.” The anti-Israel protesters also vandalized the front door and windows of Goldie, according to reports.
After the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October, the Philly Palestine Coalition called for a boycott of various Zionist and Israeli-owned restaurants in Philadelphia, including a number of Solomonov’s establishments. (Read more)

1. Patrick McHenry, ex-Speaker pro tempore, to retire at end of term - The Hill
Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), the chair of the Financial Services Committee who memorably served as the Speaker pro tempore after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was unseated, said Tuesday he will retire at the end of this Congress.
The announcement puts a bookend on McHenry’s nearly two-decade tenure in Congress that this year put him at the center of attention during the McCarthy drama. McHenry was generally applauded by members on both sides of the aisle for how he handled that situation, and there was talk of whether he’d become Speaker.
“I will be retiring from Congress at the end of my current term,” McHenry wrote in a statement. “This is not a decision I come to lightly, but I believe there is a season for everything and—for me—this season has come to an end.” (Read more)

We pray you bless him in all that he seeks to do in the next chapter, but most of all we pray that his relationship with you will be established, strengthened and grow deep roots in Your Kingdom. We bless him for serving honorably as speaker pro tempore and call forth a mighty person of God who will stand in his stead with courage and integrity, working to clean house in Congress, in Jesus name. Amen.

2. Black Residents Sue Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson over Migrant ‘Tent City,’ - Breitbart
Black residents of Chicago’s Brighton Park are suing Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson over the construction of his massive tent city for illegal border crossers — but not before state authorities shut construction down over a report that the site may be a toxic landfill.
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s plans to build a tent encampment for up to 1,400 illegal aliens has been under fire since it was first proposed, and residents quickly organized to oppose the plan to put hundreds of illegal immigrants right in the middle of their neighborhood without so much as a community meeting or a discussion with their alderman.
Twelfth District Ald. Julia Ramirez has disavowed Johnson’s construction effort.
Ramirez says she had no part at all in the planning and execution of the plans in Brighton Park. The alderwoman’s letter to her constituents came only days after she was mobbed by furious residents when she visited the location of the proposed tent city on October 19. (Read more)

3. Younger voters appear less likely to vote in 2024, despite previous record - The Hill
Younger voters may be less likely to vote in 2024, despite their previous record, according to a new poll from Harvard University’s Institute of Politics (IOP). Of respondents aged 18-29 who said they voted in the 2020 election, only 49 percent said they “definitely” will be voting in the next presidential election; 17 percent said they will “probably” vote in the 2024 election.
The bad news is that fewer young people intend to vote in this election compared to the Biden-Trump election of 2020. The good news is there’s still time, and we know what Gen Z and young millennials want to see and hear. They want evidence that democracy works, that government can address our challenges, and that there’s a meaningful difference between the two parties,” IOP Polling Director John Della Volpe said about the poll.
When it comes to primaries and caucuses for the 2024 presidential election, only 35 percent said they will “definitely” vote in them; 20 percent said they will “probably” vote in a primary or caucus in 2024. (Read more)

4. Speaker Johnson gives Biden an ultimatum on Ukraine funding, immigration - Fox News
There will be no additional funding for Ukraine without first making extensive reforms to the U.S. immigration system, House Speaker Mike Johnson told President Biden.
Johnson issued the ultimatum in a Tuesday letter to the White House. Biden and Democrats had pushed for months to provide additional funding for Ukraine's war effort amid dwindling Republican support for the issue. With immigration being an even more divisive issue for Congress, Johnson's declaration is a major blow to the prospect of further aid to Kyiv.
Johnson's letter says Ukraine aid is "dependent upon enactment of transformative change to our nation's border security laws."
The message came in response to a Monday letter from the White House. Penned by Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, it warned that the U.S. would run out of Ukraine aid funding by the end of 2023. (Read more)

- Praise You Holy One, for putting a courageous man of God into this office and position and we ask Your protection over Speaker Johnson in all he does, in Jesus name. We pray for this administration to find the wherewithal to do something constructive to stop the flow of the masses at our southern border, in Jesus name. We pray also for the entire Congress to stand in support of this position to protect our own nation's border first, before funneling money to somewhere in eastern Europe.

5. FBI Arrests Actor and GOP Official Siaka Massaquoi for Non-Violent Entry of Capitol on January 6 - Breitbart
The FBI arrested actor and Republican Party official Siaka Massaquoi last week on non-violent misdemeanor charges relating to his entry into the U.S. Capitol during the infamous riot on January 6, 2021.
In footage Massaquoi shared, he is seen standing in a doorway and filming police officers with his phone while smiling jovially and attempting to comply with their request that the crowd leave the building. “We’ll gonna work it out,” he is heard saying.
Massaquoi, who ran for the California State Assembly in 2022, currently serves as the first vice-chair of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County. He is also a RedState columnist. Twitter / X owner and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk commented on news of Massaquoi’s arrest, saying: “This has gone too far.” (Read more)

- Mighty King, we declare that the dishonest accusation of insurrection is broken off our nation, in Jesus name. We decree that the truth sets people free and that the FBI and DOJ will be flooded with truth on every floor at every level in order to bring freedom and repentance to the people in these agencies. We pray for every single innocent person accused and those sitting in a prison cell right now to be set free and recompensed for their suffering and 1st Amendment freedoms being denied, in Jesus name. We ask You Father, to rip off the veil of the insurrection narrative so that this nation would know that there has not been one guilty verdict of insurrection. We pray that You, Holy King, put Your foot down on this entire duplicitous chicanery and cause our Constitution and justice system to stand fast in this trying time, in Jesus Holy name. Amen.

6. Liz Cheney mulling radical option to stop Trump from winning presidency - DML News
Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is mulling a third-party presidential bid, with plans to make a decision about whether or not to get in the 2024 White House race in the next few months.
“Several years ago, I would not have contemplated a third-party run,” Cheney told The Washington Post. But “democracy is at risk” both at home and abroad, she said, citing former President Trump’s “continued grip on the Republican Party.”
Given her appeal to independents, former Republicans and some Democrats, many Trump critics in both parties have noted that a presidential run by Cheney could undercut her stated goal of defeating Trump, because it could draw some votes away from President Biden. Cheney said those considerations would all be part of her analysis, and underscored that she would not do anything that would help Trump return to the White House.
Cheney claimed in an NBC interview on Monday that Trump would try to be president forever, and claimed he won’t support and uphold the Constitution. (Read more)

7. IRS move could carry hefty cost for some taxpayers - Fox Business
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is raising the stakes for those who underpay their taxes by ratcheting up the interest penalty that will be assessed in next spring’s tax filing season.
Earlier this fall, the IRS increased its interest penalty on estimated tax underpayments to 8% – a notable jump from 3% just two years ago. The IRS is required by law to recompute the interest rate penalty every quarter and for taxpayers other than corporations the assessed rate is the federal short-term rate plus three percentage points.
Self-employed workers and independent contractors, including many gig workers, will be at risk of being hit with the underpayment penalty if they fail to pay the amount the IRS believes they owe. Taxpayers don’t face an interest penalty for underpayment if the balance due is under $1,000 after their credits and other tax account information is factored in. (Read more)

We pray for this agency to be hedged in by Your holiness and righteousness and may those who are caught in their cross-hairs be granted wisdom and favor to deal with this change, in Jesus name.
- "Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught." (Proverbs 3:25-26)

8. California Will Soon Fine Stores That Don’t Have A ‘Gender Neutral’ Kids Toy Section - The Daily Caller
A new California law slated to go into effect on January 1, 2024, will mandate stores that sell children’s items to have a gender neutral section, according to a state government website.
The law applies to stores that sell “childcare items” or toys and employs a minimum of 500 employees across store locations, and it requires that they offer a section where “a reasonable selection of the items and toys for children that it sells shall be displayed, regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for boys,” according to its text. Stores that do not comply with the law could face a civil penalty and charged $250 after the first offense or $500 for later offenses.
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a slew of bills this year pertaining to gender ideology, including one bill that requires the State Department to create an “LGBTQ cultural competency training” by July 1, 2025, and another that requires the state to create an advisory task force to identify policies to assist LGBTQ students. - Jesus, we pray for children in California to be protected from the sexual indoctrination of the LGBTQ agenda in their toys, schools, books and free-time. We pray for Gavin Newsom to be reined in by vocal, courageous and God-fearing parents in the community who have come together to speak with one voice to protect their children, in Jesus name. We also pray for businesses who intend to resist and oppose this overreach; may they have the strategies and wisdom to stand for freedom and compel these fines to be rescinded, in Jesus name.
- "'You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.'" (Deuteronomy 4:40)

Weaponizing The Courts Against You
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 5, 2023
A hallmark of authoritarian regimes is making a list of civilians and using it to control them. The Department of Justice (DOJ), under the guise of investigating former President Trump, is weaponized against American citizens by using the court system to obtain such a list. The Press Coalition, involving 20 mainstream media outlets, went to court and wrestled away from the DOJ the previously withheld search warrant by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is investigating Trump. Smith obtained the warrant in January against X (formerly Twitter) to seize all content, records, and other interactions between Trump’s Twitter account and other Twitter users. Anyone following Trump on Twitter is on the DOJ list.
The DOJ was forced by the Press Coalition lawsuit to release the warrant on November 27. The warrant required Twitter to disclose “All business records and subscriber information, in any form kept, pertaining to the SUBJECT ACCOUNT [sic Trump’s Twitter account], including identity and contact information (past and current), including full name, email address, physical address, date of birth, phone number, gender, and other personal identifiers, All usernames (past and current) and the date and time each username was active, all associated accounts (including those linked by machine cookie, IP address, email address, or any other account or device identifier), and all records or other information about connections with third-party websites and mobile apps (whether active, expired, or removed).” Read More

Modern earthquakes in US could be aftershocks from quakes in the 1800s, scientists say
|
|
(CNN) — After large earthquakes, there is an expectation that aftershocks could occur in the hours and days that follow, but aftershocks from some of the strongest earthquakes in recorded United States history may still be happening — nearly 200 years later, new research has found.
Frequent aftershock activities stemming from a trio of quakes that occurred near the Missouri-Kentucky border between 1811 and 1812, and a separate earthquake in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1886, are likely continuing today, according to a study published recently in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth.
One of the regions researchers focused on, called the New Madrid seismic zone, encompasses present-day Memphis and the surrounding Mid-Mississippi River Valley area, and the other includes Charleston and the surrounding coastal plain. Seismic activity in these relatively stable regions of North America is not well understood, and its nature is debated among scientists, the study authors wrote.
“You use the time, distance and the magnitude of event pairs, and try to find the link between two events — that’s the idea,” said lead study author Yuxuan Chen, geoscientist at Wuhan University in China, in a news release. “If the distance between a pair of earthquakes is closer than expected from background events, then one earthquake is likely the aftershock of the other.” Read More

Joy to the World

Words: Isaac Watts
Music: Lowell Mason
Scripture: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Psalm 98:4
Lyrics:
Joy to the world; the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her king:
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
