Blinken blasted for 'lecturing' Israelis, as John McCain's 2014 warning about diplomat resurfaces

Secretary of State Antony Blinken came under fire this week for what one combat-veteran lawmaker characterized as "lecturing" Israel's war cabinet, as the Biden administration faces pressure from its left flank to facilitate an end to fighting against Hamas in Gaza.
Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., a decorated retired Green Beret, told FOX News that Israel will end up in a surrender if it continues to follow "President Biden's edicts."
"I think that will be a green light for Hezbollah, for the militias in Syria and their masters in Iran to realize their dream before they even get a nuke, of genocide in Israel and wiping Israel off the face of the Earth."
He said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knows he and his forces must remain firm in the face of calls to back down, because terrorists like Hamas only understand strength, not diplomacy or otherwise. (Fox News) Read more here.

Ten IEDs found at US-Mexico border in cartel gunfight
|
|
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is warning agents to be on the lookout for explosive devices.
A federal law-enforcement source shared with FOX Business Network an internal officer safety alert dated December 13th that warns CBP agents to be vigilant after the Mexican military seized 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the border.
The IEDs were found by Mexican authorities after Tucson border patrol observed gunshots at the U.S.-Mexico border and a Tucson supervisory border patrol agent arrested an armed person on the U.S. side who had a loaded AK-47 rifle, two loaded AK magazines, loose rounds and a handgun.
CBP is warning its agents to "exercise extreme caution and should report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices," according to the memo. (Fox Business) Read more here.

Johnathan Turley Breaks Down Possible Charges Against Senate Staffer Who Filmed ‘Obscene’ Gay Sex In Hearing Room

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley broke down possible charges Saturday that could be filed against a congressional staffer and an unknown man having anal sex in a Senate hearing room.
Leaked amateur pornography showed a congressional staffer having anal sex with an unknown man, purportedly in Senate room Hart 216, video obtained by the Daily Caller shows, and the Capitol Police are now investigating the incident. Turley highlighted the possible charges that could be brought against the individuals, which include being charged for “lewd, indecent, or obscene acts,” for misuse of public property, and/or possibly for trespassing, according to his legal blog.
“Obviously, the videotape will result in the termination of any staffers involved. However, the question is any possible criminal charge. We have previously discussed porn videos shot in churches or other locations. Such porn shoots in church have also raised calls for prosecutions in other countries. Staffers have access into such rooms, but the question is whether this unofficial use would constitute trespass. It also uses an official area for personal purposes, though it is not clear if there were any commercial benefits garnered from the video found on various sites,” Turley wrote. (Daily Caller)

1. Netanyahu: Pushing forward with Gaza war only way to free hostages - Jerusalem Post
A strong continued and sustained military campaign is the only way to destroy Hamas and ensure that captives in Gaza are freed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said as talks continued with Qatar about a hostage deal.
“Without the military pressure, we would not have been able to produce the [former] agreement which resulted in the release of 110 captives,” Netanyahu told reporters in Tel Aviv in a joint press event with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister Benny Gantz.
“Only the continuation of the military pressure will lead to the release of all our captives,” the prime minister stated.
“The instructions I give to the negotiating team are based on this military pressure – and without it we have nothing,” he said. (Read more)

2. Live updates: 9 rockets fired from Lebanon - Israel National News
The war against Hamas in Gaza entered its eleventh week on Saturday, more than two months after Hamas massacred over 1,200 people in southern Israel and took 240 hostages on the morning of October 7, Simchat Torah.
On Friday at about 5 pm, shortly after the start of Shabbat, Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip launched a rocket barrage at the Israeli capital of Jerusalem for the first time since October. Residents reported hearing multiple explosions as six rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome Missile Defense system.

Sunday, 5:29 p.m.: A short while ago, a terrorist cell that attempted to launch anti-tank missiles toward the area of Livneh in northern Israel was struck by an IDF aircraft and tank.

3. IDF uncovers largest terror tunnel in Gaza - World Israel News
On Sunday, the IDF uncovered the largest terror tunnel in Northern Gaza extending close to the Erez Crossing between Gaza and Israel.
The tunnel extends four kilometers (2.5 miles) and 50 meters (165) below ground and is sufficiently wide to allow passage to vehicles.
In a video statement, the commander of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade, Col. Haim Cohen said, “Its width indicates that it was intended to have been used for vehicle-borne raids against civilians in the Gaza border communities.”
Although the tunnel did not extend into Israel, it did stretch 400 meters from the Erez crossing, which is used by Palestinian civilians to go to Israel for work or medical care. (Read more)

4. IDF Seizes Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar’s Vacation Home in Southern Gaza - Algemeiner
i24 News – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) broke through to Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, taking control of central positions and infrastructure of the terrorist organization Hamas, including its leader’s vacation house in the area, as well as other senior officials, according to an announcement on Sunday.
According to the announcement, the IDF’s 7th Brigade are still fighting in the area. Some of their achievements include raiding the Khan Yunis Brigade headquarters and controlling the central square of the city.
The IDF also raided underground infrastructures in the area, exposing about 30 tunnel shafts. In addition, numerous anti-tank positions and observation posts were destroyed in the area. (Read more)

5. Israel opens aid crossing to Gaza while stepping up bombardment - Reuters
CAIRO/GAZA/JERUSALEM, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Israel opened a direct crossing for aid into Gaza for the first time in its more than two-month-old war on Hamas on Sunday while also stepping up attacks on the Palestinian enclave, saying military pressure was the only way its hostages would be freed.
The Israeli attacks took place amid fierce fighting the length of the coastal strip, according to residents and militants, with communications down for a fourth day, making it hard to reach the wounded.
"The communication blackout in #Gaza is the longest since the start of the Israeli escalation," the Palestinian Red Crescent said on X. Telecommunications were gradually being restored in central and southern areas, telecoms companies said later. (Read more)

1. Giuliani Ordered to Pay Nearly $150 Million to Georgia Election Workers in Defamation Suit - Epoch Times
A jury said on Dec. 15 that former Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani should pay two former Georgia election workers $148 million for defaming them during the 2020 presidential election.
The verdict came roughly four days after the jury entered deliberations and represents a hefty punch to Mr. Giuliani, who is reportedly already facing financial troubles. Plaintiffs had asked for at least $48 million in reputational damages while not specifying an amount for punitive damages and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Jurors ultimately awarded former election worker Ruby Freeman $16,171,000 for compensatory damages related to defamation and $20 million for emotional distress. The punitive damages, which are intended to send a message in especially bad cases, reached $75 million for both. Ms. Freeman's daughter, Shay Moss, was awarded $16,998,000 in compensatory damages for defamation and $20 million for emotional distress.
The judge seemed to express shock at the full amount, noting it didn't include the more than $200,000 Mr. Giuliani was ordered to pay in the case.
Mr. Giuliani's trial lasted for four days and focused on the amount he should pay rather than establishing whether his statements in December 2020 were defamatory. U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell told the jurors that for the verdict, they were to assume that Mr. Giuliani defamed the former election workers and had no legal right to do so.
The election workers had been identified in a video clip that became widely circulated after the 2020 general election. In it, they are seen allegedly mishandling ballots. An investigation by the Georgia Elections Board later cleared Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss of wrongdoing, but the two women said the damage had been done. (Read more here)

3. Secret Anti-Gun Provision Hidden in Military Spending Bill (video) - The Epoch Times
In a major victory for the Second Amendment, a group called the Gun Owners of America has just defeated a gun control provision that was hidden deep within the pages of the latest military funding bill.
Because you see, anti-gun politicians (as per usual) attempted to sneak some secret legislation into this year’s military spending bill. Specifically, they were trying to sneak in a permanent reauthorization of the Undetectable Firearms Act.
And I really do mean “sneak in.”
Because if you go through the bill, you’ll find that hidden between the part about veterans’ housing budget, and a plan to rebuild a hospital over in Puerto Rico, there is a small single paragraph that reads:
“Section 2(f) of the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 is amended— (1) by striking ‘‘EFFECTIVE DATE AND SUNSET PROVISION’’ and all that follows through ‘‘This Act and the amendments’’ and inserting the following: ‘‘EFFECTIVE DATE.—This Act and the amendments’’; and (2) by striking paragraph (2).”
Now, in and of itself, that paragraph looks just like harmless legal jargon on a page. However, in reality, this was actually a serious limit to the Second Amendment (especially in the age of 3D printing).

4. Explosive New Report Hints at the REAL Reason the FBI Raided Trump’s Home at Mar-a-Lago - The Politics Brief
Now that we know that the reason the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Donald Trump’s home and presidential office in Mar-a-Lago is unlikely to have been related to so-called “nuclear secrets,” there is still widespread speculation about the FBI’s historic intrusion into the former president’s estate.
The “nuclear secrets” that Trump possessed were unrelated to the U.S.’ own capabilities, it turns out; rather, they were nuclear secrets about Iran and China, according to the Washington Post. However, it was readily conceded that the FBI agents were looking for other documents, but they declined to share the details of those documents to the Post (which has essentially become an intelligence community mouthpiece at this point).
While the official cover story is that the National Archives — the glorified librarians for government documents — demanded the former president returned “classified” documents he had in his possession since his time in office, the lack of proportionality in the FBI’s enforcement of the NARA order has raised questions about the sensitivity of said documents in Trump’s possession.
This raises a critical question: What was the FBI really looking for?
Now comes a CNN report, published today, that is highly suggestive of the FBI’s draconian vigilance in its unprecedented invasion of a former’s president’s residence.
The relevant passages follow below:
A binder containing highly classified information related to Russian election interference went missing at the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, raising alarms among intelligence officials that some of the most closely guarded national security secrets from the US and its allies could be exposed, sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Its disappearance, which has not been previously reported, was so concerning that intelligence officials briefed Senate Intelligence Committee leaders last year about the missing materials and the government’s efforts to retrieve them, the sources said.
. . . The binder was last seen at the White House during Trump’s final days in office. The former president had ordered it brought there so he could declassify a host of documents related to the FBI’s Russia investigation. Under the care of then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, the binder was scoured by Republican aides working to redact the most sensitive information so it could be declassified and released publicly. 5. Ex-FBI Intel Chief Who 'Investigated' Trump-Russia Collusion Gets 4 Years In Prison For Colluding With Russia - Gateway Pundit
A former top FBI official who led the agency's New York counterintelligence division, and played a key role in the Trump-Russia collusion probe, has been sentenced to 4 years in prison for colluding with Russia - and he may face an even longer sentence under a second indictment for hiding $225,000 in payments from a former Albanian intelligence officer.
Charles McGonigal, 55, was arrested in January and slapped with two separate indictments - one in New York and one in Washington, with the New York case related to taking nearly $200,000 in bribes from Russian oligarch Oleg V. Deripaska to investigate a rival oligarch, and the Washington case concerning the Albanian money.
Mr. McGonigal made at least $25,000 as an investigator for the law firm before directly working for Mr. Deripaska. He received an initial payment of $51,000 and then payments of $41,790 each month for three months from August 2021 to November 2021, the indictment said.
Prosecutors said Mr. McGonigal concealed his ties to the Russian oligarch by telling friends he was working for a “rich Russian guy” and stressed that his work was legal. In conversations about Mr. Deripaska, he would try to keep his employer’s identity a secret by referring to him as “the big guy” and “you know whom.” -Washington Times
McGonigal pleaded guilty in August after being hit with four initial corruption charges - including conspiring to evade U.S. sanctions, money laundering, conspiring to commit money laundering and conspiring to violate federal law against doing business with sanctioned individuals. Each count carried a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison..
While heading up the NY counterintelligence division, McGonigal was responsible for supervising and participating in investigations of Russian oligarchs, including Deripaska. (Read more)

6. Christian veteran who toppled satanic statue in Iowa Capitol raises $20K in hours for legal fees - Christian Post
The Christian veteran who destroyed a satanic statue in the Iowa state Capitol was inundated with $20,000 in donations for his legal fees in less than three hours on Thursday.
Michael Cassidy, 35, a former Navy officer who ran for Congress in Mississippi, faces a fourth-degree mischief charge for toppling a display erected by The Satanic Temple Iowa that depicted a silver ram’s head on a red-caped mannequin holding an inverted pentagram wreath.
The figure was surrounded by candles and flowers and stood in front of an altar extolling the seven "Fundamental Tenets" of The Satanic Temple.
Following a week of fierce debate online and between state legislators regarding the propriety and legality of the statue, Cassidy pushed it over and tossed the silver ram's head in the garbage before turning himself into officers, as first reported by the Republic Sentinel.
After Cassidy's actions went viral on X, the Sentinel set up a legal defense fund for him on GiveSendGo, which shut down within hours after meeting its $20,000 goal.
"Truly humbled by y’alls support," Cassidy tweeted. "We raised the $20k we were looking for in just a couple hours. I directed the campaign to be paused - we have enough for now." (Read more)

7. IDF kills 3 hostages in error; Mossad head said in Europe in hostage deal bid - Times of Israel
The White House offers condolences after Al Jazeera says one of its journalists was killed Friday in an Israeli strike.
“I just want to offer our deepest condolences to Al Jazeera to and to the family and loved ones of Sameer Abu Daqqa, who was on the ground doing necessary important work for not only your viewers but to people all around the world,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby says during a phone briefing with reporters.
Al Jazeera said that Abu Daqqa, a cameraman, and Gaza bureau chief Wael Al-Dahdouh were wounded in a school in Khan Younis, where they were hit by “shrapnel from an Israeli missile attack.”
In a subsequent statement condemning the Israeli military, Al Jazeera attributed the injuries to a drone strike.
“Following Samer’s injury, he was left to bleed to death for over 5 hours, as Israeli forces prevented ambulances and rescue workers from reaching him, denying the much-needed emergency treatment,” the network charged. (Read more)

8. School Board Member Sworn in on Stack of Gay Porn Instead of Bible - Daily Wire
A school board member in Virginia took his oath of office with his hand not on a Bible, but on a stack of books containing graphic depictions of gay sex.
Karl Frisch, who will become chairman of the Fairfax County School Board, swapped the Bible for books including “Lawn Boy,” “Gender Queer,” and “Flamer.” His male partner held the books as he placed his left hand on them and his right hand in the air.
“He was sworn in on a stack of the five LGBTQ-themed books most frequently banned by other school systems,” Frisch’s campaign said on his website. n September 2021, nearly all Fairfax school board members except Frisch fled the dais as a mother read passages from the books.
Frisch is a Democrat campaign consultant from California and has few roots in Virginia. He won his first term on the school board in 2019 after raising massive amounts of money by fundraising from out-of-state donors based on LGBTQ issues.
He has also styled himself as a victim because he is an atheist. He once gave an hour-long interview to the American Humanist Association, a group for agnostics. IDF: Hamas Will Be Dismantled, Tunnels Will Be Hamas Graves
|

|
IDF International Spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, in an interview with The Media Line on Thursday, discussed the current war in Gaza against the Hamas terror group, including attempts to rescue the hostages, and reports of the IDF flooding the terror tunnels.
Conricus said the war “is going to be a long and difficult fight,” in comments that echoed those of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The spokesman said that while the fight to dismantle Hamas “will take a lot of time and a lot of effort,” the IDF’s “resolve is very clear, and we are going to defeat Hamas. There is no other option.”
During the interview, Conricus was asked about reports of the IDF flooding the tunnels in Gaza.
Photos released in Israeli news media on Friday morning showed IDF pumping stations at the shore of the Mediterranean Sea pumping seawater into tunnels in the northern Gaza Strip.
Conricus didn’t directly state whether the IDF had officially begun flooding of the tunnels in his interview; however, he did say that “these tunnels will hopefully be the undoing of Hamas.”
According to reports in U.S. news media, Israeli officials told the U.S. Biden administration that the IDF is testing out the process on tunnels where no hostages are believed to be held.
He also spoke of the complexity of the tunnel system, noting that the IDF has uncovered “hundreds of miles of tunnels, hundreds, almost a thousand, tunnel shafts.”
“Some of them are very high-tech and high-level and a high finish of infrastructure,” Conricus said. “And we find house after house full of weapons, IEDs, explosives, rocket launchers and anything that Hamas could get their hands on.” (Newsmax) Read more here.

Sierra Space’s Dream Chaser New Station Resupply Spacecraft for NASA

NASA and Sierra Space are making progress on the first flight of the company’s Dream Chaser spacecraft to the International Space Station. The uncrewed cargo spaceplane is planned to launch its demonstration mission in 2024 to the orbital complex as part of NASA’s commercial resupply services.

The Dream Chaser cargo system, manufactured by Sierra Space in Louisville, Colorado, consists of two major elements: the Dream Chaser spacecraft and the Shooting Star cargo module. As a lifting body spacecraft, Dream Chaser is designed to be reused up to 15 times, and is modified from the HL-20 spacecraft developed at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
The spaceplane’s cargo module companion, Shooting Star, is designed to support delivery and disposal of pressurized and unpressurized cargo to and from the space station. The cargo module can be used only once and is disposed of prior to re-entry.
The Dream Chaser system will launch with its wings folded inside a five-meter fairing aboard a ULA (United Launch Alliance) Vulcan Centaur rocket from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The fairing panels will protect the spacecraft during ascent but are jettisoned once in orbit. God moved on college campuses, in churches, and through entire cities in the U.S. this year bringing hope, healing, and redemption. And it did not stop at America's borders. Entire countries, people groups, and nations were evangelized for Jesus, making it evident that God is writing a story that includes Muslims meeting Jesus in dreams, entire nations falling on their knees in prayer, and whole villages sharing the Gospel with their unbelieving neighbors. Two mission organizations led an effort to introduce thousands of people to Jesus in Nicaragua.
Missionary Britt Hancock of the organization "Mountain Gateway" followed God's call to help lead massive evangelism campaigns this year, along with Evangelist Nathan Morris and Shake the Nations Ministries. Britt told CBN News close to a million people have attended the outreaches this year, tens of thousands have accepted Jesus Christ, and thousands have been healed. He also says the government indicated the most recent events brought in the largest gatherings of people in the country's history. And more than a dozen are planned for next year. "In Jesus' Name by the end of next year, we will have evangelized an entire country," Britt said. "The country's got six million people in it; it's about the size of the state of Alabama in geographic size.
