New York Appeals Court Rejects Trump’s Bid To Lift Gag Order
|
|
A New York appeals court rejected on Thursday former President Donald Trump’s effort to lift the remainder of his gag order.
Trump sought to have the order lifted after he was convicted in May on 34 counts for falsifying business records. Judge Juan Merchan partially lifted the order in June but left in place key restrictions, including one that prevents Trump from criticizing prosecutors in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.
The court agreed that the end of the trial did not constitute “a change in circumstances” that warranted terminating the order, noting that the “fair administration of justice necessarily includes sentencing.”
“Contrary to petitioner’s contentions, the People’s evidentiary submissions in opposition to his motion in Supreme Court demonstrate that threats received by District Attorney staff after the jury verdict continued to pose a significant and imminent threat,” the court held. US Job growth slows to 114K in July while unemployment unexpectedly jumps
|
|
U.S. job growth cooled sharply in July while the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to the highest level in nearly three years.
The Labor Department reported Friday that employers added 114,000 jobs in July, missing the 175,000 gain forecast by LSEG economists. The unemployment rate also unexpectedly inched higher to 4.3% against expectations that it would hold steady at 4.1%.
It marked the highest level for the jobless rate since October 2021.
"Temperatures might be hot around the country, but there’s no summer heatwave for the job market," said Becky Frankiewicz, president of ManPowerGroup North America. "With across-the-board cooling, we have lost most of the gains we saw from the first quarter of the year.

Chinese citizen arrested after repeatedly trying to get into Trump's Mar-a-Lago
|
|
A Chinese citizen was arrested after police said he repeatedly tried to get into former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Zijie Li, 38, of El Monte, California, claimed that he had documents that tie his home country's government to the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by Secret Service agents after the bullets he fired struck Trump's ear, narrowly missing his skull, and hit three of his supporters, killing former Buffalo Township Fire Chief Corey Comperatore.
Following the assassination attempt, the Secret Service increased security around Trump's estate and his other properties. The Palm Beach Post reported this also prompted the agency's decision to close South Ocean Boulevard next to Mar-a-Lago, effective on July 20. (Fox News) Read more here.

RED ALERT! Iran Plans to Attack Israel on the 9th of Av! (Aug 12-13)

|
Western intelligence sources told Sky News Arabia that they had evidence Iran plans to attack Israel on Tisha B’Av in response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, which begins on August 12 and ends on August 13, the site reported on Friday.
Iran’s attack will reportedly be coordinated with Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terror group embedded in Lebanon.
On Tisha B’Av, Jews lament the destruction of the first and second Temples. During the annual event, there is fasting, mourning and a practice of self-denial.
Three sources told the New York Times that Iran planned to respond to the assassination of Haniyeh. The sentiment was echoed by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameini on X who wrote “Following this bitter, tragic event which has taken place within the borders of the Islamic Republic, it is our duty to take revenge.”
The report indicates that there is an emotional and psychological impact in targeting Israel on the holy day of mourning. Read more

2. Israeli team visits Cairo for hostage-truce talks with Egyptian mediators - Times of Israel
A high-level Israeli delegation reportedly visited Cairo on Saturday for indirect talks with American and Egyptian negotiators on reaching a hostage-truce deal in the Gaza Strip with the Hamas terror group, according to multiple reports in Hebrew media outlets.
The Walla news site reported that Mossad spy agency chief David Barnea, Shin Bet security agency head Ronen Bar and Maj. Gen. Ghassan Alian, head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), held meetings in Cairo with Egyptian Intelligence head Abbas Kamel and senior Egyptian military officials.
Discussions were to focus on the release of hostages, as well as security issues regarding the Egypt-Gaza border, according to the sources quoted in the report, which came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Friday evening that he had approved the delegation’s participation in renewed indirect talks. 3. CENTCOM Chief in Mideast to Mobilize Against Iranian Attack - Algemeiner
JNS.org – Gen. Erik Kurilla, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), arrived in the Middle East on Saturday amid sky-high tensions as Israel prepares for an imminent attack by Iran and its terrorist proxies.
The trip by the general in charge of American forces in the region was already planned. However, in light of Tehran’s pledge to retaliate for the targeted killing of Hamas terrorist leader Ismail Haniyeh on its soil on July 31, his visit will focus on building a multilateral defensive alliance similar to the one that fended off the vast majority of the more than 300 missiles and explosive drones Iran fired at the Jewish state in mid-April.

4. IDF document shared with northern mayors sets out Hezbollah war scenarios - Times of Israel
A document by the Israel Defense Forces detailing the “Updated Scenario” in the event of an all-out war with Hezbollah was recently shared with northern mayors, The Times of Israel has learned.
The document was shared as Israel braces for a threatened response by Iran and Hezbollah to the killings last week of Hezbollah’s military commander Fuad Shukr in an Israeli strike in Beirut and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in a blast in Tehran for which Israel has not claimed responsibility.
In the event of war with Hezbollah, the document envisages a potential three-day power outage in some cities; breakdowns in water supply that could last days; a disconnection of landlines for up to eight hours and cellphone communications for up to 24 hours; and brief local disruptions to radio and internet. 5. Terrorists in south Gaza fire five rockets at Ashdod - JNS
Terrorists in the southern Gaza Strip fired five rockets that crossed into Israeli territory on Sunday, setting off sirens in communities just east of the coastal city of Ashdod.
IDF Home Front Command alerts sounded in the Shefala (lowlands) communities of Moshav Bitzaron, Gan Yavne, Kibbutz Hatzor, Moshav Azrikam, Moshav Sde Uziyahu and Moshav Shtulim.
According to the IDF, a strike was detected in the Hof Ashkelon region, with no injuries reported. According to reports, one rocket hit an open area near Route 4, setting off a bushfire. (Read more)

1. Biden admin freezes controversial migrant flight program after fraud revelations- Fox
The Biden administration has put a controversial program that allows tens of thousands of migrants from four nations to fly or travel directly into the U.S. on hold, after a report circulated internally showing significant amounts of fraud in the program.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Fox News Digital that "out of an abundance of caution" it has temporarily paused the issuing of advance travel authorizations for the program -- which allows up to 30,000 nationals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela (CHNV) to travel into the U.S. each month and enter legally under the administration's use of parole if they meet certain conditions.
A congressional source had told Fox News Digital the pause came in mid-July after an internal report unearthed large amounts of fraud in applications for those sponsoring the applicants. DHS said the pause was occurring as it reviewed sponsor applications. The focus is on issues with supporter filings, and not with the filings from the beneficiaries of the program themselves. 2. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin revokes plea deal for 9/11 terrorists - Fox
The defendants are accused of providing training, financial support and other assistance to the 19 terrorists who hijacked passenger jets and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 11, 2001.
The plea deal that prosecutors agreed to with three of the terrorists behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks who were awaiting trial in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, has been revoked by Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III.
On Friday, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III took the lead on the case and effectively put the death penalty back on the table for Khalid Shaikh Mohammad, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin 'Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi. Read more

3. Report: Jordanian Illegal Immigrants Who Tried to Breach Marine Base Walk Free After Posting Bail- Breitbart
Two Jordanian illegal immigrants who tried to breach a Marine Corps base in Virginia in May were allowed to post bail and walk free, according to a report.
The New York Post reported that Hasan Yousef Hamdan, 32, and Mohammad Khair Dabous, 28, were released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention despite both being in the United States illegally.
Hamdan entered the country illegally through the southern border in April. He was detained and released due to a lack of detention space, federal law enforcement sources told the outlet. Dabous overstayed his student visa, law enforcement sources told the outlet.
They were arrested on May 3 after they tried to breach the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, in a box truck, claiming they were Amazon subcontractors. They attempted to ignore military gate guards and drive onto the base but were stopped by anti-vehicle barriers.
According to the Post, it is still not clear why they were trying to enter the base, which is a major Marine Corps base but also home to the FBI Academy and FBI laboratory, and a Defense Intelligence Agency facility. Read more

4. Hawley: Secret Service Whistleblower Alleges Retaliation Against Those Voicing Trump Event Security Concerns - Breitbart
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Thursday revealed a Secret Service whistleblower alleged Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe made cuts to personnel who could have helped prevent an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump and that there was retaliation against those who expressed concerns about security at Trump events.
In an August 1, 2024, letter to Rowe, Hawley said a whistleblower alleged that the agency’s Counter Surveillance Division (CSD) did not perform its typical evaluation of the site of Trump’s July 13 campaign rally and was not present at the rally.
“This is significant because CSD’s duties include evaluating potential security threats outside the security perimeter and mitigating those threats during the event,” Hawley said.
“The whistleblower claims that if personnel from CSD had been present at the rally, the gunman would have been handcuffed in the parking lot after being spotted with a rangefinder,” he added. Read more

5. ESG Nightmare: The Targeting of Farmers and Ranchers in America’s Heartland - Breitbart
As Congress continues to negotiate the overdue Farm Bill, climate activists and money managers with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agendas seek to reshape the Farm Bill reauthorization into an ideological weapon against everyday Americans. The same unelected elites who have used ESG to cripple America’s financial and energy sectors are now targeting our farmers and ranchers.
It’s not hard to see where ESG extremists want to take this.
In the Netherlands, the government required farmers to cut emissions by up to 70 percent and reduce livestock by a third overall, telling them that “there is not a future for all” farmers. More than 3,000 were forced to sell their land or stop farming.
When Sri Lanka’s president forced farmers to transition to lower-yielding organic fertilizers as part his ESG goals, a food crisis leading to national bankruptcy and riots ensued, driving the government from power.
Now activists and the Biden administration’s Democratic allies in Congress have signaled their intent to impose ESG on America’s agricultural sector by hijacking the 2024 Farm Bill and transforming it into a climate bill. Environmental group Ceres advocates forcing farmers and ranchers into submission by linking compliance with access to crop insurance, a sledgehammer that it euphemistically calls an “incentive.” Read more

6. Venezuelan Opposition Leader Beat Dictator Nicolás Maduro ‘By An Insurmountable Margin,’ U.S. Gov Says- Daily Wire
The United States government said in a statement on Thursday that Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia beat socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro during the country’s recent presidential election.
The announcement comes after at least 17 protesters have been killed and hundreds more arrested so far in riots that have broken out over the country’s sham election.
More than 12 million Venezuelans voted during the election, which is run by the Maduro-controlled National Electoral Council (CNE).
“The CNE’s rapid declaration of Nicolás Maduro as the winner of the presidential election came with no supporting evidence,” the U.S. State Department said in a statement. “The CNE still has not published disaggregated data or any of the vote tally sheets, despite repeated calls from Venezuelans and the international community to do so.”
Independent watchdogs have said that the CNE’s refusal to provide precinct-level official results, in addition to other serious voting irregularities, have destroyed the CNE’s credibility. Read more

'F--- the White women': Black activists tied to VP Harris could derail Dem 'unity' message with past rhetoric
|
|
|
A pair of Black female activists, who have met with Vice President Harris several times and previously vowed to get "real serious" about helping her become the next president, could alienate some of the "White women for Kamala" supporters with their past rhetoric as they mobilize ahead of November's election.
Cora Masters Barry, an appointee of Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and longtime civil rights activist, and Melanie Campbell, who leads the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, have visited the White House more than 50 times combined during the Biden administration, including nearly a dozen visits with Harris or her staff, a Fox News Digital review found.
Weeks before President Biden and Harris were sworn into office in 2021, Barry and Campbell participated in a public Zoom call in which they made controversial statements about Trump supporters and used an expletive against White voters, specifically White women, which could cause some internal clashes as different coalitions mobilize to try to get Harris into the White House. Oldest Person in U.S. Credits Long-Life to God’s Grace
|

The oldest person in the U.S. is giving credit to God for her long-life. As Fox News reported, Elizabeth Francis is currently the oldest person in the United States, reigning in at 115 years old after her birthday last month. However, Francis hasn’t done this life on her own. Her granddaughter, Ethel Harrison, told Fox that Francis’ faith has been a key component to her life. “She will tell you it’s by the grace of God,” Harrison said. “That’s how she made it so long. She is very spiritual.” Francis lives in Houston with her daughter, Dorothy Williams, who is 95. The two have multiple caregivers. LongeviQuest is an organization that keeps tabs on the oldest people alive throughout the world. The organization presented Francis with a plaque to commemorate her outstanding longevity.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Ben Meyers from LongeviQuest said that “Elizabeth Francis is America’s grandmother…her story is about faith, fortitude and family more than it is about longevity.” Fox noted that Francis has been a member of the same church her whole life, Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. “They come to visit and bring communion,” Harrison said. “She is still an active member even though she is not able to attend church. We watch on television." Harrison also told the Post that Francis is grateful for her wonderful life. “I asked her the other night how she feels about turning 115 and she smiled and said, ‘I just thank the good Lord that I’m here,’” Harrison said. Elizabeth Francis’ life is a testament of the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness. The one request she now has is that she’d like to eat two slices of cake. Tropical Storm Debby has Florida, southeast US on alert

Hurricane warnings are in place along the Florida coast as Tropical Storm Debby strengthens and approaches the state.
Tropical Storm Debby will continue to strengthen this weekend as it moves north just off the Florida Peninsula's Gulf coast, spreading rain, gusty winds and severe thunderstorms across the state. AccuWeather meteorologists warn that it may intensify into a hurricane before making landfall, most likely in northern Florida, and then could stall along the Carolina coast this week, which may add significantly to life-threatening conditions.
AccuWeather dubbed the wave of low pressure a tropical rainstorm on Monday, July 29, to raise public awareness as it approached the Leeward Islands with drenching showers and thunderstorms. During the rest of the week, the tropical rainstorm pushed slowly but steadily west across Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and Cuba. It strengthened into Tropical Storm Debby at 5 p.m. EDT Saturday.
Debby's impacts on Florida will increase through Sunday and Sunday night and as it approaches the northeastern Gulf coast, it will likely strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane. Read More
