DeSantis Declares Emergency in 33 Florida Counties as Storm System Gathers Steam
|
|
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 33 counties in preparation for the potential impact of a weather system that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warns is becoming better organized and could become a tropical storm with dangerous consequences.
The weather system—an area of low pressure dubbed Invest 93L—that is located in the northwestern Caribbean Sea and eastern Gulf of Mexico near Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula continued to become better organized on Saturday.
"The disturbance near the Yucatan is becoming better organized. Heavy rains are likely over portions of W Cuba and Yucatan Peninsula," NHC said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Aug. 26.
"Interest in these areas & Florida need to stay up to date with the latest at hurricanes.gov Have your hurricane plan in place," NHC added. (Epoch Times) Read more.

- Lord God, just like you calmed the hurricane that hit California into a tropical storm, we pray right now that you will do the same for Florida. We speak to the winds in the waves. We tell them to cease and desist in Jesus name. We say peace be still, in the name of Jesus. We declare no destruction will be caused by these hurricanes, and that they will diminish and to just a regular storm. Amen.
- "And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm." (Matthew 8:20)

Trump Campaign Raised $7.1 Million
Since Atlanta Mugshot: Spokesman
|
|
President Donald Trump's presidential campaign has raised more than $7 million since the former president was processed at an Atlanta jail and his mugshot was taken last week, according to his campaign.
Immediately after the former president's mugshot was released online, it immediately drew considerable attention on social media. On X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, President Trump posted on his account for the first time in more than two years, showing his mugshot while declaring election interference and directing supporters to his campaign website.
A spokesperson for the former president's 2024 bid, Steven Cheung, confirmed over the weekend that $7.1 million was raised since he was booked. On Aug. 25 alone, the campaign raised $4.18 million, which is the "highest grossing day" of the campaign, Mr. Cheung wrote on X on Aug. 26.
The spokesman noted that roughly $20 million has been raised in the past three weeks, which he said coincided with indictments in Washington in separate cases. Special counsel Jack Smith indicted President Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents and for alleged criminal behavior that he said the former president engaged in in the wake of the 2020 election and around Jan. 6, 2021. - Lord God, we continue to pray over this tragic situation going on with our justice system that it will be corrected, and that truth will win out in Jesus Christ's name. We continue to stand in faith, that no weapon formed against President Trump or his family, or those affiliated with him shall prosper. And we thank you Lord for a cleaning and restoration in our justice system that it will work and function properly with just balances. Amen.

Tiger Island Fire, largest in Louisiana's history, doubles in size
|
|
he Tiger Island Fire burning in Beauregard Parish, the largest wildfire in Louisiana's history, doubled in size over the weekend. State fire officials reported on Sunday that the fire expanded to cover a staggering 33,000 acres, up from an estimated 15,000 acres on Friday.
Containment remains at only 50%. At least one person has been killed and at least 20 buildings have been destroyed.
The fire forced the entire town of Merryville, home to 1,200 residents, to evacuate Thursday night.
The Tiger Island Fire was one of four major wildfires burning in Louisiana Monday morning — and one of hundreds that have charred parts of the state this month. Louisiana, which is accustomed to dealing with hurricanes and floods, not fires and drought, has witnessed an unprecedented 441 fires in August.
"While we're pretty good and practiced at emergency response, not so much on the wildfires," said Gov. John Bel Edwards.
Monica Hickman, a displaced resident who evacuated her home and then her brother's home, said she fears the fire's spread. "This is so scary to think that we could lose our homes," she said. Hickman, like countless others, is praying for rain and help to stop the fire's destructive path. "It's not just for my home. It's not just for my family. It's for my community," she said. - Father God, even as we see much of the State of Louisiana in flames, we also see the State of Florida now threatened by a Category 3 Hurricane.
Lord God, we ask that You would redirect the path of this hurricane, moving east over the waters of the Caribbean to flood the State of Louisiana. We know that it is written that nothing is too difficult for You, so we ask this prayer in faith, believing that You can and will answer our plea, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

1. Israel to have partial laser defenses by next year - Rafael chair - Jerusalem Post
Israel will have partial laser defenses by this time next year, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems chairman Yuval Steinitz told Army Radio on Sunday.
"One year from now – Israel will be the first country to have partial laser protection. In two years there may be complete protection – against missiles, shells, rockets, or anything else. This will protect us both in the South and in the North," said Steinitz.
This past February, senior Defense Ministry official Brig.-Gen. (res.) Danny Gold said Israel’s air-defense lasers, when fully deployed, will be able to shoot down the drones Iran has been sending Russia to use against Ukraine.Speaking at the Artificial Intelligence conference at Tel Aviv University at the time, the MAFAT [Directorate of Defense Research & Development] director said his ministry was working on developing “the next generation of using lasers.” (Read more)

3. Palestinian Authority PM demands return of 1948 lands - Israel National News
The Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Mohammad Shtayyeh, calls on the international community to take the necessary steps to bring about an end to the "crimes of apartheid" committed by Israel against the Palestinian Arabs.
At the meeting of the Palestinian Authority government in Ramallah (Monday), Shtayyeh said that as part of the "racist apartheid regime" Israel enacted laws that help it in this matter, including the nationality law, and the international community should listen to the words of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and understand that the "racist ideas" are dominant among those currently at the helm of the government in Israel.
Shtayyeh commented on the words of Ben-Gvir in an interview with Channel 12 News in which he said, "The right to life precedes freedom of movement", and then clarified that "my right and that of my fellow Jews to travel and return home safely on the roads of Judea and Samaria outweighs the right of terrorists who throw stones at us and kill us." 4. Human Rights Watch Accuses Israel of ‘Gunning Down Palestinian Children’ - Algemeiner
Human Rights Watch (HRW) on Monday released a new report accusing the Israeli military of “gunning down Palestinian children,” despite three of the four cases examined by the group involving teenagers who launched Molotov cocktails, rocks, or fireworks at the security services.
“Palestinian children live a reality of apartheid and structural violence, where they could be gunned down at any time without any serious prospect of accountability,” HRW’s Bill Van Esveld was quoted as saying in the report. “Israel’s allies should confront this ugly reality and create real pressure for accountability.”
HRW examined four cases of boys who were shot and killed by Israeli security forces from November 2022 to March 2023. In three of those cases, the boys, all aged 15-17, were shot after attacking Israeli soldiers and police. The fourth, Mahmoud al-Sadi, 17, was killed down the road from the scene of a gun battle between Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which is widely designated as a terrorist organization, and the Israel Defense Forces as he was walking home from school. Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters used a Sunday news conference to tell reporters the individual who killed three people in a Jacksonville, Florida, Dollar General Saturday acquired both his guns legally.
Breitbart News reported that an individual in his 20s allegedly shot and killed three people in a Jacksonville Dollar General just after 1 p.m. Saturday. He was armed with a Glock handgun and an AR-15-style rifle.
CNN noted Waters indicated the shooter “legally purchased the two firearms he used in the shooting earlier this year.”
Watters said, “In this situation, there was nothing illegal about him owning the firearms.” (Read more)

2. Jacksonville Sheriff: The Problem Is the Individual, Not the Gun - Breitbart
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters made clear his position that guns are not bad, but some individuals are.
Waters said this the day after a suspect in his 20s allegedly opened fire in a Jacksonville Dollar General store, killing three people.
In a video posted by Breaking 911, Waters said, “The Story’s always about guns. People are bad; this guy’s a bad guy. [But] if I take my gun off right now and lay it on this counter, nothing will happen. It’ll sit there — but as soon as wicked person grabs ahold of that handgun and starts shooting people with it — there’s the problem.”
The suspect in the shooting was allegedly armed with a handgun, which Waters used in his example, and an AR-15-style rifle. Police have yet to clarify which gun he used in the attack. (Read more)

3. Poll: Wide Majority View Joe Biden as Too Old for High Office - Breitbart
President Joe Biden has finally united almost the entire the nation as one, although not in a way he might have planned. A poll released Monday shows broad public belief he is just too old to be effective in a second term.
The revelation comes in polling from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research which finds much of the public across all party affiliations united in sizing up the one trait octogenarian Biden cannot change.
AP reports in the poll, fully 77 percent said Biden is too old to be effective for four more years. Not only do 89 percent of Republicans say that, so do 69 percent of Democrats. That view is held across age groups, not just by young people, though older Democrats specifically are more supportive of his potential for a 2024 bid.
The poll’s clear message as defined by the AP report is Americans are saying out with the old and in with the young, or at least younger, than the 80-year-old Democrat now in the White House. (Read more)

4. McCarthy: Democrats ‘Very Concerned’ About Biden Impeachment - Breitbart
During this week’s broadcast of FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) laid out the prospects of an impeachment inquiry once Congress returns from August recess.
According to the California Republican, some Democrats were “very concerned” about the impeachment prospects.
“What other evidence are you seeking in order to bring that? Do you need more evidence to prove to your members? Do you have the votes for an inquiry?” host Maria Bartiromo asked.
“Well, we have been out on summer recess right now working in the district. When we go back, we will discuss this. But we find new information each week. We did not know about the whistle-blowers coming forth. We did not know of all these times that the president lied to the American public. Each step we take contradicts what the Bidens had said before. Could you imagine being a sitting vice president, and your family’s members set up 20 shell companies? They don’t — American companies don’t do that. And then they deal with foreign countries, that you have got 16 of 17 payments from Romania while you’re vice president. And then we have the vice president, now president, claiming that he utilized American tax dollars to withhold from Ukraine to get a prosecutor fired.”
... "there’s a lot of questions still. And to be able to get the answers to these questions, you would need an impeachment inquiry to empower Congress, Republicans and Democrats, to be able to get the answers that the American people deserve to know. I have had Democrats now tell me they’re very concerned because they back this president based upon what he told America. And with each turn, we find that is not true.” (Read more)

We ask for House members to have courageous hearts, to not be deterred in bringing all things to the light and allowing justice to be done. We ask this in Jesus' name. AMEN

5. 'We're Just Asking the Lord': Central Texans Pray for Rain Amid Severe Drought - CBN
Inspired by the Old Testament prophet Elijah, a group of Christians in Central Texas are praying for rain amid a severe drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, much of Central Texas is experiencing “exceptional drought,” the most severe degree on the scale, marked by “exceptional and widespread crop loss” and “extreme sensitivity to fire danger” while “most wildlife species’ health and population are suffering.”
A pastor from Hays County, Jimmy Darnell, led a group of believers in prayer Monday and told KXAN-TV they will be praying daily over the next week.
“We got farmers, ranchers, all kinds of folks here, and we’re just asking the Lord to send us rain,” he told the local news station. “Our aquifers are at historic lows. Our rivers are drying up. So we’ve got to have some divine help from heaven.”
“We’re praying for drought-busting rains,” said Darnell. “By New Year’s Eve, we’d like to have 40 inches of rain.”
The county was met with a similar drought in 2009, when Darnell and other Christians petitioned the Lord in the same way. At that time, they saw 39 inches of rain by year’s end. The pastor is confident they’ll see it happen again.
“When you see different churches and people who don’t even go to church coming out here to pray because they know the need,” he said. “There’s a sense of unity that’s really beautiful.” (Read more)

- "And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."

6. GOP House member demands White House turn over unredacted Jan. 6 panel transcripts - Washington Examiner
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) demanded the White House release the unredacted transcripts of interviews conducted by the Jan. 6 House Select Committee in a letter Friday.
Loudermilk, who is conducting an investigation into the Democrat-led panel, is specifically requesting unedited and unredacted testimony from "Secret Service agents or employees who were assigned to former President Trump on January 6, 2021" and who testified in front of the select committee at the end of 2022.
“Once these records, including transcripts of testimony from the Secret Service agents and employees, have been returned in their original, unaltered format, I am willing to discuss any redactions you believe are necessary prior to these records being released publicly," Loudermilk wrote in the letter.
Loudermilk, who is the chairman of the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, added that the subcommittee was willing to store the documents in a classified setting if the White House determined some of the testimony required the classification. He gave White House special counsel Richard Sauber a deadline of Aug. 30, 2023, to turn over the testimony.
"The White House does not own these records, the House does," Loudermilk told NBC News. "This was testimony given to a House committee — not just records from an executive branch agency.”
Loudermilk launched his investigation into the panel in March. The investigation is also looking into security failures at the Capitol complex surrounding the riot, including any failures by Capitol Police. (Read more)

7. Democrats go on offensive over abortion as GOP splits - Washington Examiner
Though it didn't generate the most headlines, abortion could become one of the biggest stories from the first Republican debate.
The 2024 presidential election will have many themes, and Democrats are working hard to make sure that the Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision and what Republicans want to do about it is one of them.
The Democratic National Committee held a press conference ahead of the Milwaukee debate featuring three party leaders and just one elected official: Madison, Wisconsin, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.
"I’m sure that [the candidates are] going to talk about freedom on the debate stage tonight,” Rhodes-Conway said in her opening statement. “But what about the freedom to make my own healthcare decisions? I guess their version of freedom doesn’t include women."
She and the other speakers focused heavily on abortion access throughout, contrasting the Republican stance with that of President Joe Biden, who they said fights for freedom and rights. (Read more)

8. ‘Too Little, Too Late’: GOP Rep Rips Biden’s Statement On Anniversary Of Kabul Terrorist Attack That Killed 13 Troops - Daily Caller
Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California criticized President Joe Biden on Saturday for a statement he released on the anniversary of the terrorist attack that killed 13 U.S. service members in Afghanistan, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation that it was “too little, too late.”
Issa has been an advocate for the families of the victims who were killed on Aug. 26, 2021, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest outside Abbey Gate of Kabul International Airport, the hub for the U.S. military’s withdrawal from the country. Issa said that Biden was being “characteristically insincere” with his statement, in comments he shared with the DCNF.
“The Biden ‘statement’ isn’t worthy of the word. It’s too little, too late, and characteristically insincere from a president who will neither meet with these Gold Star families nor even say the names of our fallen service members,” Issa said. “Biden sold himself to the nation as an experienced elder statesman and an uncommonly empathetic leader. None of it was true.”
Issa has written a letter asking Biden to meet privately with the families, several of whom have criticized Biden for his response to the attack. Some of the parents have called for Biden’s resignation, according to reporting by the Daily Caller.
“We have received no response from the White House — which is disappointing but hardly a surprise,” said Jonathan Wilcox, Issa’s press secretary, to the DCNF. “Biden’s callous disregard for these Gold Star families began two years ago and continues with, apparently, no end in sight.” (Read more)

- Abba, we know you heard the cries of those whose lives were taken from them that day. We ask you for continued healing and for true justice to be done for their families left behind. We ask you to visit all in our government who made decisions that day giving the enemy access to our innocent servicemen. We ask for your hand of conviction to rest on each of their hearts. We ask for each to be faced with what you saw in their hearts and minds that day. We ask this in Jesus' name. AMEN

When Unconditional Hate Meets Unconditional Love
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, August 28, 2023
Christ said in Matthew 24:9, “you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” And so it is. Disciples of Christ are hated, yet as Christians we are commanded to love one another as he loved us and as we love ourselves. This is an unconditional love. While many can argue that the one condition is acceptance of Christ, it can also be argued that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life—that Christ came not to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved. While the condition of being saved is to believe on Christ, the love of Christ is unconditional. There is also unconditional hate.
Unconditional hate, in my opinion, is the absence of God. It is the result of a spiritual condition where the darkness of evil roams as a principality over the hearts of men. Unconditional hate cannot be cured in the natural. It is the hate that cannot be abated through reasoning and logic. Christians and Jews are hated often unconditionally, without rational reason—at least in man’s understanding. Those called to love and to practice love to one another, their neighbors, their community might be rationally hated because of prejudice or fear (which can be reasoned out and set to rest), but unconditional hatred appears to have no reason and cannot be reasoned with. It’s the kind of hate that belies explanation. The example in the Bible of unconditional hate is found in the story of the grandson of Esau, Amalek, and the Amalekites. Read More

The Lord has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry,
And dries up all the rivers. - Nahum 1:3-5
The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The Lord is over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. – Psalm 29:3-4
He has made the earth by His power;
He has established the world by His wisdom,
And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.
16 When He utters His voice—
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
“He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightnings for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” - Jeremiah 51:15-16
Mighty God, Creator of all that is, You whose majestic, powerful voice thunders over the waters and makes the earth shake, the rivers dry up and the heavens rain down … . You Who have Your way in the wind, water, and the fire … :
Have mercy upon us … and speak to the winds, the waves and the clouds across our nation. Calm the whirlwind (tornadoes) and the threatening storms in the Mid West. Rebuke the turbulent sea where storms are brewing now in the Caribbean and threatening Florida, and totally deflate this weather system.
Thank You that You are our stronghold in the day of trouble! Your mercies are new every morning, and great is Your faithfulness. You are good to all and Your tender mercies are over all Your works .... Amen!
(Psalms 29:3-4 and 8, 145:8-9, 136, 135:7, 18:13; Nahum 1:3 and Lamentations 3:23).

Archaeologists in northern Peru unearth
3,000-year-old tomb believed to honor priest
|
|
Archaeologist working in the northern highlands of Peru at a site called Pacopampa unearthed a tomb estimated to be 3,000 years old and believed to have honored an elite religious leader.
Reuters reported that the archeologists called the discovery, "Priest of Pacopampa," named after the archeological zone where the tomb was uncovered.
The tomb was covered with six layers of ash mixed with black earth, and was decorated with ceramic bowls.
The tomb also had two seals along the upper edges of the tomb, which indicate ancient ritual body paint used for people with nobility, Peru’s Culture Ministry said on Saturday.
One of the seals was a jaguar design facing west, while the other was an anthropomorphic face looking east.
Yuji Seki, who led the project, described the large tomb as nearly 2 meters in diameter and one meter deep, which he added was "very peculiar." The body’s positioning was also peculiar, he noted, because it was lying face down with half of his body extended and feet crossed. Read More

Bethany Hamilton and Pro-Life Diaper Company Team Up to Help Maui Residents
|
|
Christian professional surfer Bethany Hamilton and a pro-life diaper company have teamed up to help moms and babies in Maui who have been affected by the deadliest U.S. wildfire in over a century. EveryLife delivered more than 40,000 diapers asarand 60,000 wipes to Maui last week in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that have left more than 114 people dead and thousands homeless. "We at EveryLife were devastated to hear the news about the disastrous wildfires that destroyed the beautiful, historic city of Lahaina," EveryLife founder Michael Seifert told Fox. "With both the death toll and the number of displaced community members continuing to rise, our hearts are breaking for the beautiful people of Maui and all of their loved ones," Seifert added. "We wanted to jump into action immediately when we heard this tragic news in order to play at least a small part in helping those in need."
Seifert is also the founder and CEO of PublicSq., a digital marketplace that touts itself as a "Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Pro-Freedom" company that offers Americans who are tired of "woke" corporations an alternative to buy the products they want. The platform launched EveryLife in July to never donate "your hard-earned money to organizations that destroy innocent life." The EveryLife organization says on its site, "We unapologetically choose to celebrate life. Because every child is a gift from above that deserves to be loved, protected, and celebrated — every single day." Hamilton said she partnered with the organization not only because she knew they were praying for Maui people, but also because they are "dedicated to stepping in and continuously providing essential supplies to the families in Maui." She explained that during August, people can purchase a "Buy For A Cause" bundle and it would go to Maui residents in need. "We know this is just the beginning of making an eternal impact and we're so grateful that you've joined us on this journey," the organization wrote on Instagram. (CBN) Read More

Words and Music: Charles Tindley
Scripture: Cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22
Lyrics:
If the world from you withhold
Of its silver and its gold,
And you have to get along with meager fare,
Just remember, in His Word,
How He feeds the little bird;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Refrain
Leave it there, leave it there,
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If you trust and never doubt,
He will surely bring you out.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If your body suffers pain
And your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel,
He can save and He can heal;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Refrain
When your enemies assail
And your heart begins to fail,
Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer;
He will make a way for you
And will lead you safely through.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Refrain
When your youthful days are gone
And old age is stealing on,
And your body bends beneath the weight of care;
He will never leave you then,
He’ll go with you to the end.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Refrain
